How to Pick the Best Corporate Travel Agency
When it comes to business travel in Dubai, an experienced executive knows how important it is to have a trustworthy partner, a partner that provides a comprehensive package and seamlessly integrates with other business operations. Such a partner is an independent corporate travel agency. They are made to help businesses plan and carry out their travel programs. As a result, they can improve customer and employee service, reduce costs, increase operational efficiencies, and streamline processes. So, what does an independent corporate travel agency in Dubai offer? Let's look at it:
What does an independent travel agency for businesses do?
The process of coordinating and organizing a company's assets and the travel of its executives and employees is known as travel management. For audit and security purposes, this typically entails activities like arranging travel arrangements, managing expenses and arranging hospitality services. There are numerous advantages to using an independent corporate travel agency. These include the fact that they are not bound by the policies and procedures of the company, have more leeway to meet individual travel preferences and needs, and can maximize the use of travel resources to boost company productivity. Services provided by corporate travel agencies can also lower travel expenses, boost employee productivity, and enhance the organization's image among clients, vendors, and in-house teams. A reputable corporate travel agency should also be able to check that the travel is properly recorded and in accordance with the company's policies and regulations. Additionally, the corporate travel agency must have a strong partner network in order to offer the client the most cost-effective tours. Lastly, it is essential to select a company with the resources to manage travel operations of any size.
What to Look for in an Independent Corporate Travel Agency?
It's important to choose a company that is right for your business. It's critical to partner with a company that understands your industry and can assist you in achieving your objectives. Examining the agency's culture to see if they are a good fit for you and your team is essential. Is the company more focused on uniformity or does it have a culture of collaboration? What are the company's leadership styles and what is its reputation? When selecting an agency, you should take these things into account. Partners: Hotels and airlines are examples of third-party services with which many corporate travel agencies collaborate. The agencies' partnerships must be evaluated to ensure that they are compatible with your business model. Can the agency provide you with their own services or does it partner with the best vendors on the market? - Does the agency collaborate with vendors of the kind you would use? Pricing: When you're looking for Dubai's best corporate travel agency, you'll want to make sure you're getting a great deal from a good price. While large purchases may qualify you for discounts from some corporate travel agencies, you should make sure that all of their prices are reasonable. You should avoid paying a premium for services that your business does not require. Proven History: When it comes to corporate travel, it's critical to work with a company that has a proven track record of success. You should take a look at how many trips the company has taken and how well they have done. You should also look at how long the agency has been in business and how many customers it has.
How to Choose the Best Corporate Travel Agency?
There is a procedure for selecting the best travel agency in Dubai. Select a market segment. You'll be able to narrow down your options and find the best corporate travel agency for your business thanks to this. You will have a better chance of finding the best corporate travel agency for your requirements once you have narrowed down your target audience. After that, you should get in touch with potential agents and tell them about your requirements. You can use this to decide when and if you will actually choose an agency. To help you begin your search, you should be able to make a decision quickly and easily. Last but not least, after you have selected the best candidates, you should thoroughly investigate each company to see if they are a good fit for your business. To help you choose the company that is best suited to your requirements, you might also want to consider other aspects.
Last words:
Choosing the right corporate travel agency need not be difficult; in fact, it shouldn't be. You can find the ideal companion to assist you in achieving your travel objectives with the right planning and research. Also, keep in mind that your business could lose credibility, money, and time if you select the wrong partner. Consider the aforementioned recommendations when looking for a partner to meet your specific requirements.

Eugene Bullard
Eugene Bullard (1895-1961) was one of the few Black pilots active in World War I.
One of ten children born in Columbus, Georgia, Bullard grew up in a fiercely and violently racist post-Civil War South. He ran away from home to Europe, first to the UK where he boxed and performed slapstick comedy, and then to Paris, where he became a jazz musician.
When World War I broke out, Bullard enlisted and joined the Foreign Legion, serving as a gunner in several important battles over half a year until he was severely wounded at the Battle of Verdun. While recuperating, he learned to fly on a bet and afterward became an air gunner. In the French Air Force, he flew in over 20 combat missions and was promoted to corporal. When the United States entered the war, they had all White men flying in French forces join America's air force, but Bullard was left behind due to his race.
After the war, Bullard was awarded several French military medals, owned several popular nightclubs in Montmartre, and traveled to Egypt. When World War II started, Bullard spied for the French government on his nightclub patrons, because he spoke German as well as English and French. He also fought in World War II, defending Orléans from Nazi invasion, but was wounded again and escaped to America.
Back in America, Bullard was once again the victim of racist state-sanctioned violence and did not have the same fame and success he had enjoyed in the more progressive Paris.
33 years after his death, Eugene Bullard was posthumously commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force, making right the segregation that had kept him from serving his own country his whole life.

Dean Obeidallah at The Dean's Report:
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has done more for our veterans than Donald Trump, JD Vance, Tom Cotton, and all of Trump’s despicable enablers put together. Yet we’ve seen these people—led by Vance—smear Walz’s dedication to our country with lies like he “abandoned” his fellow National Guard members when they were about to serve in Iraq. In reality, Walz may have stopped serving in the National Guard in 2005, but he never stopped serving our nation and the women and men of our armed services. In an effort to correct the record, let’s start with the headline that should appear in corporate media. Tim Walz did go to a war zone in Iraq. He also went to a war zone in Afghanistan. If you are asking: “What am I talking about?!,” it’s because the sheep of the corporate media all tell the same story without challenging the lie fueling it. In his first term in Congress, Walz travelled to a war zone in Iraq as well as Afghanistan to speak to our troops and find out what more they needed in terms of support. As the headline of the Minnesota Tribune article from January 16, 2008 reads, “Walz visits war zones to study veterans' care system.”
Another local Minnesota paper wrote at the time, “Walz said the trip gave him a renewed sense of urgency to improve access to soldiers' medical records.” Walz—who is pictured in the article in both Iraq and Afghanistan speaking and dining with our troops—talked of the need to streamline databases so that active duty soldiers in these combat zones can get the care they need as well as making it easier for them to continue the care when back stateside.
Walz did not have to go, he chose to go to a war zone. In future years he would visit Syria and other places in the Middle East in times of tensions. From there, Walz would continue for his entire time in Congress--from 2007 until he was elected Governor in 2018--being a champion for the members of the military and our veterans. Walz co-chaired the National Guard and Reserves Caucus, ran leadership outreach roundtables for veterans service organizations, was applauded by veterans affairs groups for his work on the VA panel, especially for focusing on mental health care issues. One of Walz’s biggest legislative achievement in Congress was championing a bipartisan veterans’ suicide prevention legislation that became law in 2015. Through his work, Walz rose to become the ranking Democrat on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and served multiple stints on the Armed Services Committee. Walz’s record of service to our nation, however, began well before running for Congress in 2006. Walz enlisted in the Nebraska National Guard on April 8, 1981, two days after his 17th birthday. Not long after, Walz was off to basic training in Georgia, on the first stop in a military career that would take him to Arkansas, Texas, the Arctic Circle and other places in the world. As Walz told a Minnesota radio station in 2018, "You go where you're told to go."
[...] Walz could’ve retired at the 20-year mark. In fact, he probably would’ve. But then came 9/11. That attack on our nation inspired him to re-enlist. In August 2003, Walz was deployed to Italy, Turkey, Belgium and Britain to support U.S. operations in Afghanistan under Operation Enduring Freedom--where he would remain for nearly 10 months. But his time in an artillery unit came at a cost to his health. The deafening booms and shock waves from howitzer barrels left Walz with hearing loss in both ears. In 2005, he underwent stapedectomy surgery to alleviate the problem-- a procedure in which damaged bones inside the ear are replaced with a prosthesis. That was the year he decided to retire at 41 years of age and after serving for 24 years in the National Guard. That is the American patriot JD Vance, Trump and their allies are smearing with lies. Obviously, Trump is man devoid of honor. His entire life has been in service of himself. When Trump had an opportunity to serve our nation in the military, he refused—instead choosing to fabricate the medical condition of bone spurs. As a reminder, in 2018 the daughters of a Queens foot doctor say their late father diagnosed Trump with bone spurs to help him avoid the Vietnam War draft as a “favor” to his father Fred Trump.
[...] When it comes to Vance, he did serve in the US Marines as a combat reporter from Sept. 2003 to Sept 2007. He didn’t re-enlist. Instead, he went to Yale law school. And while Walz was fighting for veterans in Congress, Vance was hobnobbing with tech billionaires in Silicon Valley—who would later bankroll his run for US Senate.
Dean Obeidallah has an excellent column spotlighting Tim Walz’s military service and how he actually supports the troops, compared to weirdo JD Vance.

today's preview is a more introspective look at the larger of our two locations - remington, georgia. while it has the glitz and glamour that sable grove could never aspire to, there are some who can't stand the hustle and bustle of someplace that always seems to be in motion. take a peek under the cut for it's full history alongside the six neighborhoods waiting within. if you have any questions, you know where to find us!
✨ explore remington, ga ✨
the city of remington was founded in late 1829 during the georgia gold rush. it was a larger settlement for the prospectors that used to travel to sable grove to strike it rich. today, it is a thriving metropolis home to such prominent tourist attractions such as the great rapids amusement park, the barlowe botanical gardens, and distillery drive. it is also home to remington university and the official home of nfl team the remington prospectors, nhl team the remington gold hawks, and the mlb team the remington 29ers. remington is also known to be a festival city during the summers, hosting events such as the taste of remington and the street buskers festival. to the world, remington seems like a city of promise, however, if you look a little closer you’ll see dilapidated buildings with graffiti protesting the oppressive hold of corporations, you’ll see broken swing sets in seedy neighborhoods, and you might just be able to see deals being made on street corners. remington proves that even the shiniest of exteriors can have the grimiest of secrets lurking within.
barlowe reef
population - 20660 | price point - $$$ to $$$$
home to the barlowe botanical gardens and the great rapids amusement park, the neighborhood of barlowe is known as a tourist haven. the northernmost peak of remington, you’ll also have access to the barlowe bridge which connects remington and sable grove across bennington bay. it also houses the shorefront which showcases the pier and harbor. housing in the area is middle tier and largely populated with airbnbs and hotels.
camden
population - 17486 | price point - $$$ to $$$$$
camden is a historic part of remington that was once lined with bootleggers and secret speakeasies between the 1920s to the 1930s. now, it is widely known as the fine arts and cultural district. it is home to the remington art gallery and theatre alley which is home to the remington ballet company, the remington philharmonic, and the remington players. it is also home to jazz clubs, piano bars, and of course your good ol’ country music bars. some casting agencies, modeling agencies, and production companies also call camden home. the neighborhood also has a series of small man-made parks and trails that are a runner’s paradise. this area houses a lot of trendy apartment buildings, brownstones, and houses with old world charm that tend to be perfect for those in the middle-income or higher income brackets.
crestmont
population - 10576 | price point - $$$$ to $$$$$
crestmont is remington’s financial and governmental neighborhood. you’ll find city hall which houses city council offices, the mayor’s office, and all the major courthouses. it is also home to the remington police department and the sheriff's station. crestmont also has easy access to remington memorial hospital and the remington firehouse. around the corner from city hall is market street which is home to well known financial institutions, major real estate developers, and also larger tech and entertainment-focused companies. homes in this area are relatively pretty expensive and swanky and feature penthouses, brownstones, and luxury apartments.
cromwell
population - 14177 | price point - $$$ to $$$$$
cromwell is perhaps one of the busiest neighborhoods in remington featuring all the major sports arenas and stadiums as well as the larger concert venues. it is home to palladium square which is full to the brim with street performers and buskers. during the weekends, there is a large farmer’s market and craft and book fairs. it is also a hop skip and jump from remington public library and cromwell park. due to its resemblance to many popular cities, cromwell is a popular filming location. you’ll find mid-tier to high-tier housing in the area, and it is home to many families with young children.
snakeleaf
population - 20101 | price point - $ to $$$
back in the 1800s, the snakeleaf area used to be swampy marshy lands where only the underlings of the city used to congregate. it still maintains its “seedy” reputation with its collection of motels and other shady businesses. unlike the rest of the city, the snakeleaf area is not prim and pristine. however, some would argue that this is where the real deals in the city happen and not in crestmont or cromwell. the main highlight of this area is the abandoned shoe factory which is a popular venue for raves, outlandish parties, and general debauchery that is rented by more elite hands than you would think to imagine. housing is cheap here, but it comes at the cost of your safety and sanity, quite frankly.
yearwood
population - 30000 | price point - $ to $$$
yearwood widely known as the education district, yearwood is home to remington university spanning ten whole city blocks. around the corner from remington university, you’ll also find the yearwood mall and tucked in a corner is distillery drive which features bars, clubs, taverns, cafes, and restaurants that are popular with students, remington residents, and tourists alike. at the end of distillery drive, you’ll find the wall, a skate park with a massive brick wall that is frequently tagged with graffiti, murals, and messages. housing in this area is relatively cheap and largely occupied by students or early career professionals.

2017 VoicePlay spring travels — all over the map
VoicePlay were some busy bunnies in early 2017, and they continued to get by with some help from their friends, particularly their three substitute singers for live shows.
.
The guys started their spring with a mini-tour through Georgia. They picked up J.None and traversed the state to play four shows in five days.
youtube
Some auditions go more smoothly than others, but they're always amusing.
.
Howdy, fellas
When their pals Home Free came to town, the guys couldn't resist seeing them do their thing.
.
Then they grabbed Erik Winger and hit the road again for a whirwind weekend. First they hopped over to Texas for a student workshop and a concert in Lake Jackson. (While they were there, Winger also earned cool points with some fans' kids via backstage shenanigans.)
Next they flew up to Pennsylvania to headline a local high school a cappella festival. Then they headed down to Washington, DC for a private event.
.
Workin' day and night
After they got home, Layne, Tony, and sound guy Paul Kaleka spent most of the next week working on PattyCake's next project, "Michaeleficent", at a couple different locations in the area.
Geoff and Kathy spent some time making final preparations for the impending arrival of their little one, and VoicePlay brought in his paternity leave replacement — Bryant Vance, member of Vocalosity and Rockapella, and then-fiancé of their frequent collaborator Hannah Juliano — to get him up to speed.
Meanwhile, J.None was a busy bee. He recorded some vocals for a friend's EP; squeezed in a quick cruise gig with one of his other regular groups at the time, Paradigm Party Band; volunteered at an annual event to uplift unhoused people; and then met up with Paradigm again for an electrifying night at the Hard Rock Cafe.
Once J was available again, VoicePlay scooped him up for a private event at Disney World.

.
Here comes a son
And then it was time to meet the newest, tiniest member of the Castellucci family (a couple weeks sooner than expected).
Geoff's announcement on Twitter // the Steins' first visit // wrangling the baby and the fur baby
Kathy posted a video on Instagram for William's seventh birthday that includes footage of them in the hospital before and after his birth. The kid's become quite a little bundle of energy, as Geoff predicted.
.
Bright lights, several cities
Bryant started his subbing duties the next week with a corporate gig in Fort Lauderdale. A couple days later, the guys pulled Geoff out of the house for one day to film their next video with J.None.
The week after that, they gathered up Winger and met Bryant in Washington, DC for a private event at the Library of Congress.
Back at home, J.None and his friend Daniel provided a live serenade for another friend's marriage proposal. (She said yes.)
Some of the gang followed Bryant home to NYC, and had a bit of an aca-reunion with Hannah and former 4:2:Five tenor Danny Alan. The Edge Effect's Instagram account joked that they were forming a supergroup called the RockaLocity PlayEffect. (They do have all the vocal parts covered…)
.
From the seas to the plains
In the middle of May, the guys set sail for the Bahamas on the Disney Dream once more, again with both Winger and Bryant. (Some high seas hijinks ensued when Erik fell asleep in the wrong cabin.)
During their week at home in between trips, Eli and Ashley bought a new house.
Then VoicePlay finished the month by hitting the road again with J.None and Geoff back in the mix for a show in Toledo, Ohio.

.
Functioning privately
June was a bit quieter, allowing the guys to do some work at home in preparation for future projects. Layne, Cyndi, and the girls even recorded a family music video of "Dear Theodosia" from Hamilton for Doris's first birthday.
VoicePlay did have a couple of private events booked for the middle of the month, though. The first was at a marina in Vancouver.
The second was at the top of a hotel in Miami Beach.

.
Ships in the morning
They closed out the season with one more trip on the Dream, where they crossed paths with their pals The Edge Effect.

hi again :D
thank you for drawing estonia! the art was so cute !!! do you have any headcanons for ukraine?
sure!
ukraine is rather quiet and tends to keep to herself most of the time. she was never one looking for trouble. however, she's also incredibly bitter and tends to have problems with jealousy. this formulated especially during world war two involving poland. it's one of the only times she's ever actively had a grudge against someone, and it'd been building up since the 20s after the polish-ukrainian war and poland promising to protect her. this obviously didn't go well, as during the polish-soviet war ukraine disappeared from their own plane and out into the real world (ooh i'll have to give context on that. basically in my hc theres a plane specifically for countries to live in and then theres our world. a free and sovereign country can travel between the two freely but annexed countries are limited to the real world. it's incredibly lonely out there considering they cannot talk to anyone other than other countries.). from there she just grew angrier and angrier at poland, viewing him as being let off the hook and undeserving of his freedom which eventually culminated in, uh, everything the upa did to polish people LOL.
after world war 2 the two didn't talk much. poland very specifically avoided areas where she thought she might've seen her (as well as her sister in all honesty. i hc ukraine and lithuania as good friends while under the ussr because they're both, uh, a little angry at poland during this time). during the time she spends alone and out there she grows into a very defiant person. she begins to learn to stand up for herself.
after the fall of the soviet union she gets on good terms with most of europe and begins to despise her brother (russiaaaa) post-georgia invasion. she forms a friend group with lithuania and poland (lublin triangle!) as well as georgia and moldova (association trio :3). to her friend's she's known as a very brave person who isn't afraid to stand for what she believes to be right. outsiders might view her initially as soft but that pretty much got thrown out the window with the whole "Russia invades ukraine" thing. it also helped her be "friends" with america. (america is very stocky and does not consider anyone to be his friend, only allies. he acts like an emotionless corporation twitter account tbf)
she enjoys crochet and hiking. she has chronic migranes and joint pains due to chernobyl. she is a girlboss
sorry this isnt well thought out im about to go to bed LOL
edit 08/08/23: her """"government assigned"""" username is utopianArmageddon.

On A Roll
One of the joys of getting older is reminiscing about the days of my youth, reeling in the years and relishing all the fond memories. While things probably get distorted just a tad, it’s fun to ponder how much better things were in the good old days. If that isn’t a formula for nostalgia, then I don’t know what is.
I have many recollections of my family either traveling down US 41 from Chicago to Kentucky, my mother’s home state, or down US 66 to points west. Those were great days before the interstate, which, while it beckoned us with unfettered access to high-speed travel, could not have produced a more banal result if the federal government wanted to. Those old roads, even though most were four-lanes by the 60s, still had intersections at-grade and small towns to dissect. This is where life happened, where real people lived.
I miss those days. And real people don’t live by the overpass.
One of my most vivid—and recurring—memories is of when we would pull in to the familiar white building with the pitched blue roof. Stuckey’s was to gas, snacks, and restrooms then as Buc-ee’s is today. Oh, and if you have never experienced a Buc-ee’s, you must. That’s a whole separate blog right there.
The diamond in the rough at Stuckey’s was always their self-branded candies, most notably the pecan log roll. My mother especially loved these. If sin were edible and came wrapped in clear cellophane, this would be it. They’re that good.
Stuckey’s was founded in 1937 by Sylvester Stuckey. It all started as just an innocent pecan stand, but blossomed into a full roadside business. The company grew exponentially, particularly in the 1950s and 1960s, when Americans were taking road trips with great fervor. Stuckey’s peaked in the early-1970s at 368 stores in more than 30 states. They even owned more than 4000 billboards across the nation to promote themselves.
But the seeds of their eventual demise had been planted back in 1964, when they merged with Pet Milk Company, a move designed to provide access to the cash needed to fuel that growth. As in many stories of family businesses sold to large corporations, Stuckey’s lost its sense of direction as just another division under a corporate umbrella. The number of stores started to decline. In 1977, Sylvester passed away, about the same time that Illinois Central Industries bought Pet Milk. They then shuttered scores of Stuckey’s stores, nearly killing the business in the process.
In 1984, Bill Stuckey, son of Sylvester, bought back the company to try to bring about a turnaround, but the company languished for decades until his daughter, Stephanie, bought the company in 2019. By then, Stuckey’s was down to only 13 original locations, and they were licensed entities not owned by the company.
Now this is where it gets good. Stephanie, who is now nearing her 58th birthday, an attorney, and former Georgia legislator, took the pecan—I mean bull—by the horns and decided she would revive the company by focusing on its core strength, candy. In just a few years she has grown the chain to 65 licensed Stuckey’s outlets as well as a couple of hundred other retailers, and…drumroll, please…seen sales grow from $2 million annually to $14 million.
Not bad for such a short time. She did so by buying a couple of pecan companies and doubling down on production of their candies, especially their signature pecan log roll. Today, Stephanie is an icon among businesswomen, and hustles her brand deep in the trenches of retail.
If she sleeps at all, I would be surprised. I follow her on social media, and am amazed at how far and wide she travels to promote the Stuckey’s brand, not to mention appear at a growing list of speaking engagements. The company’s success is the result of her tireless efforts, as well as clear thinking. She’s not in the retail business, even though she works it. No, she is in the candy business, committed to also being the face of her namesake brand.
And at the core is the fact that inside those cellophane wrappers is a tasty serving of nostalgia. You know, that warm fuzzy feeling you get when your mind goes back to an earlier time and place.
She is quick to boast that her grandfather’s company pre-dated Buc-ee’s, Love’s, Flying J, and all the big modern travel centers. But she is wise not to try to compete with them, because they would crush her. Instead, she wants to sell to them and anyone else along the way. In a recent podcast episode out of Atlanta, Stephanie told her story one more time, and in succinct fashion. It’s a story she loves to tell, and has gotten it down to the point that it could be an elevator speech. I encourage you to give a quick listen.
Meanwhile, when I see those familiar log rolls at retail, I am whisked back to the 60s, when we were taking those family trips. I have also been to four of those original stores, the best of which is no doubt the one in Hattiesburg Mississippi (pictured above), a busy shop and gas station that just so happens to be on my route to Florida.
There is much to be said about figuring out who you really are, your strengths, your limitations. That’s the essence of strategy. But it is sheer genius when you leverage the intangible, in this case nostalgia. You can’t put a price on those feelings, but you can sure see them on the bottom line. And in the smile on Stephanie’s face.

Voices In Struggle: Remembering Tortuguita + Resistance in Lützerath and Against Tren Maya
This week on The Final Straw, we feature three segments: words from a friend of Manuel “Tortuguita” Teran, the forest defender killed by law enforcement on January 18th outside of Atlanta, Georgia; A-Radio Berlin’s conversation with an activist at Lutzerath encampment in western Germany attempting to block a lignite coal extraction operation by RWE; a discussion of the Tren Maya megaproject by the AMLO administration in Mexico.
Remembering Tortuguita
First up, we caught up with Eric Champaign of Tallahassee, FL, about his friend Manny, aka Tortuguita or little turtle. Manuel Teran was shot and killed by law enforcement during an early morning raid of the forest encampment to defend the Welaunee aka Atlanta Forest and to stop CopCity on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023. Law enforcement claimed in the media that they responded to shots fired and the wounding of an officer by killing the shooter, but at the time of this release the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has not yet produced a weapon or bodycam footage of the clash. [Update, Georgia Bureau of Investigation claims they found Tort's gun and ballistics match the bullet in the pelvis of the cop] The killing of Tortuguita has sparked outrage, calls for independent investigations, vigils and calls for renewed and dispersed activity. Word is that another 6 people were arrested and charged with domestic terrorism during the raid. Check out our chat with a member of Atlanta Anti-Repression Committee for some context and links to group fighting back in the courts. There’s a fundraiser for Tortuguita’s family at GoFundMe
Eric also speaks about his friend, Dan Baker, who is nearing his release date. You can hear our past chat with Eric about Dan’s case at our website alongside links about the case and how to support him. There’s now a paypal for donations for Dan’s post-release, which can be found at [email protected]
Then, we feature two segments are selections from the January, 2023 episode of B(A)D News from the A-Radio Network. You can find this ep, #64, alongside many others at A-Radio-Network.Org
Updates from Lützerath
This second segment is a recording by A-Radio Berlin of a conversation with a radio activist from Aalpunk from Lützerath giving some context of the struggle there in the west of Germany. Since this recording, the encampments have been evicted but resistance continues against the ginormous lignite mine that the corporation RWE is attempting to expand there. You can also hear or read our September 25th, 2022 episode for some background. More info at https://luetzerathlebt.info/en
Opposing Project Tren Maya
Finally, we’re sharing a segment by Frequenz-A about Proyecto Tren Maya in the Yucatán peninsula of so-called Mexico. The conversation with a member of Recherche-Ag about a report they published in Solidarity with the Zapatista movement, on the German state and corporate participation in this mega-project and the dangers posed by the Maya Train, which includes huge expansion of electric, travel and other corporate and state infrastructure through sensitive ecosystems and sovereign indigenous lands, being overseen by the Mexican military. You can find this report and more at ya-basta-netz.org.
To hear a past interview of ours talking about Tren Maya & AMLO's infrastructure projects, you can find our February 2nd, 2020 interview.

FOR STARTERS THIS IS RUSSIA’S VERSION OF NATO; The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO; Russian romanized: Organizatsiya Dogovora o kollektivnoy bezopasnosti; Russian romanized: ODKB
Right, and the Azov Battalion never numbered more than one thousand, out of Ukraine’s hundreds of thousands of fighters, and at last count, there were no more than 300 survivors.
That, conspiracy hippies, is what a battalion is; 300 to 1000 soldiers (look it up).
And the reason Russia is over-blowing the Azovs’ role, is they have literally ten’s of times as many Russian Nazi’s, and that’s not even including Putin’s private mercenary army, The Wagner Group (really nasty reputation).
A big problem, is how many iconoclasts figure out how they're being gaslighted by the corporate media, and so Russian state-media and YouTube Certified™ experts catch them, lest they become informed.
People who follow Russian state-media are not any different from those who followed TransOcean News Service as Herr Hitler annexed German-speaking parts of Czechoslovakia, and then as he and his allies conquered the rest of the country. #SamePlaybook #SameExcuses #SameLies
We’ve even seen this from Putin before.
See Chechnya and Georgia.
Russia has invaded Ukraine 22 times in 400 years, and Putin has invaded every former Russian colony that has insisted on independence, but sure, it's all about “America's proxy war” ?? #WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot?!?

Rekor Uses NVIDIA AI Technology For Traffic Management
Rekor Uses NVIDIA Technology for Traffic Relief and Roadway Safety as Texas Takes in More Residents.
For Texas and Philadelphia highways, the company is using AI-driven analytics utilizing NVIDIA AI, Metropolis, and Jetson, which might lower fatalities and enhance quality of life.
Jobs, comedy clubs, music venues, barbecues, and more are all attracting visitors to Austin. Traffic congestion, however, are a major city blues that have come with this growth.
Due to the surge of new inhabitants moving to Austin, Rekor, which provides traffic management and public safety analytics, gets a direct view of the growing traffic. To assist alleviate the highway issues, Rekor collaborates with the Texas Department of Transportation, which is working on a $7 billion initiative to remedy this.
Based in Columbia, Maryland, Rekor has been using NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX modules for edge AI and NVIDIA Metropolis for real-time video understanding in Texas, Florida, Philadelphia, Georgia, Nevada, Oklahoma, and many other U.S. locations, as well as Israel and other countries.
Metropolis is a vision AI application framework for creating smart infrastructure. Its development tools include the NVIDIA DeepStream SDK, TAO Toolkit, TensorRT, and NGC catalog pretrained models. The tiny, powerful, and energy-efficient NVIDIA Jetson accelerated computing platform is ideal for embedded and robotics applications.
Rekor’s initiatives in Texas and Philadelphia to use AI to improve road management are the most recent chapter in a long saga of traffic management and safety.
Reducing Rubbernecking, Pileups, Fatalities and Jams
Rekor Command and Rekor Discover are the two primary products that Rekor sells. Traffic control centers can quickly identify traffic incidents and areas of concern using Command, an AI-driven software. It provides real-time situational awareness and notifications to transportation authorities, enabling them to maintain safer and less congested municipal roads.
Utilizing Rekor’s edge technology, discover completely automates the collection of thorough vehicle and traffic data and offers strong traffic analytics that transform road data into quantifiable, trustworthy traffic information. Departments of transportation may better plan and carry out their next city-building projects by using Rekor Discover, which gives them a comprehensive picture of how cars travel on roads and the effect they have.
Command has been spread around Austin by the corporation to assist in problem detection, incident analysis, and real-time response to traffic activities.
Rekor Command receives a variety of data sources, including weather, linked vehicle information, traffic camera video, construction updates, and data from third parties. After that, it makes links and reveals abnormalities, such as a roadside incident, using AI. Traffic management centers receive the data in processes for evaluation, verification, and reaction.
As part of the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform, Rekor is embracing NVIDIA’s full-stack accelerated computing for roadway intelligence and investing heavily in NVIDIA AI and NVIDIA AI Blueprints, reference workflows for generative AI use cases constructed with NVIDIA NIM microservices. NVIDIA NIM is a collection of user-friendly inference microservices designed to speed up foundation model installations on any cloud or data center while maintaining data security.
Rekor is developing AI agents for municipal services, namely in areas like traffic control, public safety, and infrastructure optimization, leveraging the NVIDIA AI Blueprint for video search and summarization. In order to enable a variety of interactive visual AI agents that can extract complicated behaviors from vast amounts of live or recorded video, NVIDIA has revealed a new AI blueprint for video search and summarization.
Philadelphia Monitors Roads, EV Charger Needs, Pollution
The Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), which oversees the Philadelphia Navy Yard, a famous tourist destination, has difficulties managing the roads and compiling information on new constructions. According to a $6 billion rehabilitation proposal, the Navy Yard property will bring thousands of inhabitants and 12,000 jobs with over 150 firms and 15,000 workers on 1,200 acres.
PIDC sought to raise awareness of how road closures and construction projects influence mobility and how to improve mobility during major events and projects. PIDC also sought to improve the Navy Yard’s capacity to measure the effects of speed-mitigating devices placed across dangerous sections of road and comprehend the number and flow of car carriers or other heavy vehicles.
In order to handle any fluctuations in traffic, Discover offered PIDC information about further infrastructure initiatives that must be implemented.
By knowing how many electric cars are coming into and going out of the Navy Yard, PIDC can make informed decisions about future locations for the installation of EV charging stations. Navy Yard can better plan possible locations for EV charge station deployment in the future by using Rekor Discover, which gathers data from Rekor’s edge systems which are constructed with NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX modules for powerful edge processing and AI to understand the number of EVs and where they’re entering and departing.
By examining data supplied by the AI platform, Rekor Discover allowed PIDC planners to produce a hotspot map of EV traffic. The solution uses Jetson and NVIDIA’s DeepStream data pipeline for real-time traffic analysis. To further improve LLM capabilities, it makes advantage of NVIDIA Triton Inference Server.
The PIDC sought to reduce property damage and address public safety concerns about crashes and speeding. When average speeds are higher than what is recommended on certain road segments, traffic calming measures are being implemented using speed insights.
NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX to Monitor Pollution in Real Time
Rekor’s vehicle identification models, which were powered by NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX modules, were able to follow pollution to its origins, moving it one step closer to mitigation than the conventional method of using satellite data to attempt to comprehend its placements.
In the future, Rekor is investigating the potential applications of NVIDIA Omniverse for the creation of digital twins to model traffic reduction using various techniques. Omniverse is a platform for creating OpenUSD applications for generative physical AI and industrial digitization.
Creating digital twins for towns using Omniverse has significant ramifications for lowering traffic, pollution, and traffic fatalities all of which Rekor views as being very advantageous for its clients.

October 7
This is late! It won't be the last time! Part of the reason October flies by so fast is that I'm inhumanely busy with grading, and that is what happened yesterday. However, I did unwrap the handmade soap I got in Ellijay, GA, which is one of those towns where it always feels like it should be fall. Ellijay is known as the apple capital of Georgia and hosts a yearly apple festival in October known for giving highway travelers ample opportunity to look at the changing leaves while stuck in traffic. I tend to plan my trips around avoiding it.
The soap is apple brandy scented, an excellent option for fall into winter, and it will certainly last into 2025. The owner of the shop is a retirement-aged southern woman who knows her job very well and loves to talk smack about soap-making corporations. It's always worth stopping by.
