...Peering over at her SOLDIER, Zack lay amongst the petals and stems with his eyes closed, his black hair a beautiful contrast to the yellow and green that he rested upon. To think merely a year ago, she was yelling him to not step on the flowers, and now how easily she allowed him to nap in them. How a mere twelve months ago, how she could never have imagined how the boy who fell through the ceiling of the church (and nearly gave her a heart attack doing so) would change her entire life for the better. How unbelievably fast she fell for his boyish smile and handsome face. An innocent crush quickly transforming into this all consuming love - a love she had no idea she could even feel before the first time she peered into his endlessly blue eyes.

Overcome with this sudden emotion, Aerith's fingers gently reached out and she gently nestled her hand into his. Like a puzzle piece finally finding the spot it always belonged, a comforting embrace she could never live without now that she knew what it felt like to know and desperately love Zack Fair.

Zack opened his eyes, turning his head to look over at her where, instead of his body that beckoned her more primal needs, it was his smile and gentle eyes that always made her heart skip a beat that she noticed.

The love echoed back to her the most distracting and most wonderful thing of all…

Before she knew it, Aerith had picked a flower.

An rare occurrence, something she never tended to do unless it was going to be sold, and presented the lily to Zack. She's pressed it close to his face, the petals tickling his nose and his eyes went crossed for a second to look at it which made her immediately giggle.

Zack looked back at her and smiled cheekily, "Thanks," he said as she gently placed it behind his ear. "So, what do I owe you, beautiful?"

It’s strange, how mesmerizing it is to watch our own destruction

The Park Fire started July 24th at around 3pm in Upper Bidwell Park of Chico, CA. It was started by a man pushing his buring vehicle down into a Ravine and instead of calling to report what had happened, he walked away.

When we went to sleep last night the fire had burned over 6,000 acres but when we woke up it had consumed 47,000 acres in one night. It is now at 124,949 acres and the largest fire of the year in California. Despite having a wet winter, we’ve had a scorching summer leaving much of Northern California a tinder box.

Forest fires were a normal occurrence before humans arrived in this area. Some species even relied on forest fires to spread their spores or reset habitats. But since Global Climate Change has been taking place, leaving us in year long droughts and at high fire risk, these fires are far more destructive than they ever were before.

My family and I are south of the fire and have not been issued an evacuation warning but we are right on the edge of evacuation zones.

My grandmother’s friend, someone who lost their house in the Campfire that ripped through Paradise, CA in 2018 (literally the next town over from the Park Fire) her new house just burned last night in this fire. How many more towns need to burn and lives destroyed before people realize that THIS ISN’T NORMAL?

Pre-crisis Superboy meeting a grown-up Lana Lang in Superboy #8 (1994) was surprisingly heart-breaking, to be thrown into the future and realize the world moved on "without" you. His memories never happened in this post-crisis world, Lana was never Insect Queen and their relationship took a different turn. Also, from Lana's perspective I'd hate to discover I was never an Insect Queen, what kind of life choices I should have made to make me Inset Queen, am I not living to my full potential??

the general roller coaster of my thoughts today after the 'Paradise Lost: Wonder Woman' project announcement:

me: "I'm terrified, this could go REALLY well or REALLY badly. Paradise Lost is fantastic but it's an insanely difficult story to pull off because it relies so heavily on prior events and a fuckton of pre-established lore...and frankly it should never be a story you go to as the first Wonderfam story in a new universe."

them: "oh it's not a Paradise Lost adaptation, it's a pre-Diana Amazon history/lore story focused on political intrigue on Themiscyra. Also James Gunn specifically tweeted that he liked Wonder Woman Historia."

me: "I WON! EVERYTHING IS GREAT AND SUNSHINE AND ROSES!"

them: "ok but they announced it with that one New 52 panel depicting evil Donna Troy leading the (rapist) Amazons as they kill a bunch of men and called it a 'Game of Thrones-type story'"

me: *head in hands* "and I'm back to being terrified"
