Totally Normal Date|| Cassius & Lukas
Location: Champlain Falls
Timing: The Friday after this thread
Parties: Lukas (@lukas-dark-miracles) & Cassius (@singdreamchild)
Summary: Lukas follow his offer up with Cassius to go to Champlain Falls. The two, proceed to have a very not normal date :/
Content warning: The very lightest Drug manipulation tw because Ballybog was NOT welcome as a third wheel on the date and does plop plop one of the two. ( so warning for psychedelics/ seeing things that aren't really there).
It had taken them some hiking to get out to Chaplain Falls, and the two of them had spent it talking about this, that, and the other. It was easy to get lost in conversation. Cassius stopped walking as the waterfall came into view, leaving the vampire with wonder in his eyes as he took it in. He couldn’t help but wish to see it in the daylight. He could only imagine how beautiful and colorful it was. He found himself thinking about that with many things he encountered. That’s why he didn’t bother to really explore when he went out and about. The lack of color reminded him of what he had lost. He shook his head to shake him out of his stupor and jogged to catch up to Lukas. “It’s beautiful,” he marveled with that same wonder in his eyes. In all the years he had lived in Wicked’s Rest, he hadn’t bothered to explore the nature that existed around him. He spent too much time in a day-to-day rut of routine. He smiled to himself, thinking that, just maybe, it was finally time to change that.
“I’m sure it’s better during the day,” Cassius added, walking to the trail that led to the top of the falls. “I can see why you like to revisit this location.” He remarked, hands clasped behind his back as he stepped onto a rock, then another. “Thank you for bringing me out here.” He looked over to Lukas, a bright smile flashing over his features. The blonde had worn more practical clothing for their adventure, a band T-shirt that featured The Cure and a pair of black jeans. Of course, the same platform Doc Martens wore that made him reach the same height as Lukas. His hair was tied up in a messy bun on the top of his head and he had forgone any makeup that he usually wore.
It was easy to talk to Cassius, and Lukas found that fact was still true as he had met him at the beginning of the trail. He hadn’t expected it to be awkward - he was almost by trade good at conversing with almost anyone - but he hadn’t expected it to be natural. With a walk that he must have taken hundreds of times both as a human and now as a vampire he didn’t have to watch the road closely. So when he knew the path was about to clear he smiled lightly seeing the other’s wonder in his eyes before glancing towards the waterfall. “It is. That's why it’s one of my favorite places.”
He moved swiftly behind Cassius letting the other go ahead first to see the falls. At his statement he nodded and said, “I think most people would think so, but I’ve always been rather fond of it at night.” It was almost always quiet then, and it was the type of peace Lukas sought out most of the time. “Careful,” He said as he watched Cassius walking on the rocks although didn’t go to stop him. “And you’re welcome,” He said, slightly stunned by the smile shaking it off. He wasn’t sure how the other seemed to smile with his eyes so easily, but in any case he tried to push it out.
“I can list off some facts if you’d like,” Lukas settled on, slightly lamely on his part. In Spite of himself he had dressed more so for the outdoors electing to wear a simple uncollared t-shirt instead of the ones that felt more natural and not bringing his glasses knowing that he didn’t need them technically. They just felt more natural for him to wear then not. “I did promise to be your guide.”
Cassius stopped climbing to allow himself to marvel at the waterfall, something he didn’t see very much in his long-lived life. Until recently, he had always prioritized staying hidden and blending in over allowing himself to explore the world around him. One of the things he resented Richard for. “You have good taste.” He replied with a soft gaze, a faint smile flirting with the corner of his lips. He sat down beside the waterfall, staring down into the waters below. It was fascinating to gaze upon, and it made him angry that he hadn’t bothered to explore the world around him, even if it meant Richard’s disapproval.
He let out a soft sigh, now angry with himself that he was even thinking about his sire at a time when he was enjoying the company of another. Cassius shook his head slightly as if willing the thoughts to leave his head. “That you did,” he remarked with a playful smile. “Well, if you have any facts about this place, I would certainly love to hear them.” He decided with a nod of his head.
A part of him was afraid to get close to someone again. The same part of him that felt abandoned and alone after Richard left. After Sofie disappeared. The part of him that was afraid to move on and let himself be happy. Despite the loudness of this part of him, he extended his hand forward toward Lukas, beckoning him to join him atop the falls. “Sit with me,” he insisted with a gentle smile, one that was almost private.
Lukas watched as Cassius walked along the rocks near the edge of the fall, happy to see that he seemed to be enjoying it, and not quite sure if he should get closer. As of late, Lukas was weary of it - knowing that there were a lot of potential risks if he let himself be seen. He wasn’t quite the monster he should be, but he wasn’t quite a good man either. Still, like a moth to a flame he couldn’t help but smile back and say, “Glad you approve.”
At the response Lukas thought for a moment and said, “It’s named after Samuel de Champlain who was said to have gone on many adventures around the falls, including caves that shouldn’t be there. It used to fascinate me, although I can’t say I ever saw any of them.”
At the idea of going towards Cassius, Lukas didn’t know if he should. The last person he had gotten close to had ended up making him this way. He had already been a little careless in going on - well this could really only be classified as a date so shocked that the other hadn’t immediately pushed him away. Still, he wasn’t sure either that he was all that powerful to stop himself either and with a smile and light laugh moved to go to the rock the other sat so carefully on. “Alright, but if I trip, I know that there’s a chance I’ll take you down with me,” Lukas said, feeling how slippery the rocks were and trying not to do so.  Still unintentionally reaching out for Cassius’s hand as he started to wobble before getting to the rock just wanting to steady himself putting the thought away that he would wind up closer to the other.
Listening with wrapt attention, Cassius watched as Lukas ascended up the slippery rocks, leaning forward a bit in case he started to slip. He thought about the cave system that existed in Wicked’s Rest and shuddered a bit. “Well, let’s hope we don’t go spelunking today.” He piped up, not keen on finding another Volmugger or worse.
There was a part of Cassius that screamed at him. What was he doing? Is he going to allow himself to get close to someone again in the inevitability that they go and vanish on him? His expression turned stormy as he fought himself. He kept doing this to himself. Weak-minded and weak-willed. He balled his hands into tight fists, then relaxed them. He hadn’t expected the pull toward Lukas he had when he had met him, and there was another part of him that begged Cassius to give people a chance. Despite everything, being hurt by someone’s absence meant that there was a true connection there. One that was worth hurting for.
Lukas reached out a hand toward Cassius as he began to lose his balance, and the two sides of himself were warring with one another, one side begging for a chance while the other demanded that he pull away. He took a deep breath, eyes closing for a moment. Then he heard the slipping of Lukas’s feet, and his eyes shot open. He got into a crouched position and took hold of Lukas’s hand. There was no going back now, was there?
No, he had made his decision.
Cassius pulled Lukas close toward him, close enough so their bodies were flush together. The older vampire’s blue eyes looked into Lukas’s, his arm wrapping around the younger vampire to steady him. Then, he gave a soft smile, one that was almost private, before taking a step back to give the other space. “Say the word, and I’ll let you go.” He spoke in a low, almost soft tone.
“Oh no adventures for you? Fair enough,” Lukas commented with a chuckle knowing he wasn’t really up for it himself. Walking on the rocks was enough for him and the former priest could feel himself slipping on the rock, a little annoyed with himself for not being more careful. He was being reckless lately, and he couldn’t afford it. He was trying to build a family that was  true, but this wasn’t how it was supposed to be. As he stumbled he suddenly found a hand in his.
It took a moment to realize what had happened, as he was suddenly closer to the older vampire than he ever had been before. If he had a heart beat Lukas was pretty sure it would have skipped shocked. As it stood, he froze for a moment not really taking in the fact that Cassius had wrapped an arm around him, a lot of thoughts suddenly out of his head as he tried to steady his breathing.
He really was beautiful, and Lukas couldn’t help how his eyes widened and he paused. He only seemed to remember to breathe when Cassius stepped back slightly arm still wrapped around him as Lukas’s brain tried to catch up with what was being said and implied. The smile seemed too lovely to be for him, and part of him wanted to step back afraid of the last beautiful person that had turned him into a monster. While he had only wanted to be Lizzie’s friend, this close he wasn’t sure if he wanted to be Cassius’s. Not when he was this close to him. Hell -  he didn’t want to be, and he really didn’t know what to do with that information. So, he just looked for a moment, and then realizing that he did need to speak if only for the other’s sake he tried to form words. Clunky and not at all possessing the confidence of a former preacher he whispered, “I don’t want you to let me go. I really don’t. That’s dangerous, Cassius.”
Lukas  wondered if that made him monstrous himself. That he was this close to the other and he didn’t know everything about his Sire, what he was supposed to be doing, and what being this close to him meant. He couldn’t seem to form the words instead looking back to Cassius searching for a meaning.
There was hesitation in the younger vampire’s gaze. The hesitation gave Cassius pause. He wanted to say something, but something had him frozen in place. The confidence he had melted away into something far more carnal: fear. He was afraid of this pull that Lukas had on him. He was afraid of what it could mean, what it could cause.
He blinked, and he saw Sofie. He saw her smile. He saw her laugh. Can you move on that quickly? A voice in his mind spoke out. He dropped his hands from Lukas as if he was burned. He blinked again and saw Sofie gazing out the apartment window. The guilt was eating him alive, and suddenly, Lukas wasn’t there with him, nor the rush of the falls. He was alone in a room with no windows or doors. Darkness all-encompassing that made him want to fall to his knees and scream. You deserve to be alone, you know. That same voice called out, whispering into his ear like that of a lover.
He blinked again and was back, Lukas staring at him, and his arms still around him. He opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. “I’m sorry, I just.” He stepped back, his feet slipping underneath him, and he nearly fell over. All that confidence and swagger completely vanished. “I find myself so drawn to you that it scares me,” he admitted, eyes lowering as he righted himself. He couldn’t figure out why he was being so ridiculous. He never got like this. Pull yourself together, Hawthorne. He swallowed thickly, an embarrassed smile on his lips. “Suppose I can’t convince you to unsee that, can I?” He then asked, scratching at the back of his neck.
Lukas watched flashes of different emotions go through Cassius’s face and when he saw the fear there he knew it. He knew what hauntedness looked like, both on himself and others. Still, as soon as he saw it he wished he hadn't. Mostly, because he knew that there wasn’t anything he could do for it.
He didn’t know Cassius well enough to know why he seemed haunted, and there was a terrifying thought that the other vampire didn’t know him well enough either. Whatever moment that there had been, was blisteringly brief and Lukas needed to remind himself he was still who he was. A man who had been turned into an undead thing. No matter how beautiful or beloved he wasn’t the resolution to anything. He would make whatever haunted the other vampire worse.
So with a grace he didn’t feel Lukas gave a small smile letting Cassius say what he needed too and knowing himself that it was for the best that the distance was put back in place. The distance he was supposed to have here. Smoothing the raw edges that he had to deal with later, if he ever did. After all, this wasn’t the worst thing and he needed to keep it together.
With a nod Lukas said,“ It’s alright. You rather surprised me yourself.”  It wasn’t sad and in fact he put on the best version of himself as he gave a chuckle, his eyes looking back towards the water for a moment wishing that he had his glasses to dull the sight , “Consider it gone, Cassius. Although, if you’ll forgive me I will take the compliment. Not every day someone says they're drawn to me.”
Cassius gave a charming smile to cover up his discomfort, hand dropping back down to his side as he moved to sit beside the waterfall once again, patting the spot next to him for Lukas to join him. “We should get to know each other better,” he insisted after the younger vampire sat beside him. “We know each other’s names and our afflictions but not much else.” He thought for a moment, wondering where to start. “I want to know more about you, your favorite color, what kind of music you listen to.” The roar of the falls made it hard to hear, so Cassius leaned in with his voice raised so Lukas could hear him.
As they sat, Cassius gazed around the scene before them, unaware of the creature that plapped up behind them between listening to Lukas speak and the roar of the falls. A creature that had come a long way from where it belonged. Cassius learned too little too late that this creature was behind him, and as soon as he turned his head, the strange bipedal frog creature spat a foul liquid all over his face.
Cassius squeezed his eyes shut, letting out a yelp of shock, raising his hands to wipe the strange liquid off his face, namely his eyelids. “What the fuck?” He exclaimed as he quickly rose to his feet, switchblade suddenly in hand. It shrieked, then sprayed again, this time hitting Lukas. It began to charge at Cassius, which caused the vampire to grab Lukas by the hand and lead him down the rocks, being careful enough not to slip but going quick enough not to face the creature’s ire once again. “I hate this town sometimes,” the older vampire grumbled as they got back down onto the grass, and he glared up at the creature one last time before assessing Lukas. “Are you alright?” He put his hands on either side of Lukas’s face, and suddenly the world was spinning and warping around him. It was as if Lukas was the only thing that wasn’t morphing around him. “Whoa.” He muttered, unable to tear his hands off of the other, as if they were glued there.
“Silly little vampire man!” A high-pitched voice called out, causing him to blink his eyes rapidly as his gaze fixed upon a pink leopard licking itself. “Silly little man with a silly little crush!” It sing-songed. “Do you…” he blinked, hands finally dropping to his sides. “Do you see that?”
Lukas calmed down a tich as Cassius did, going back into a routine that he felt a little more comfortable with sitting next to the other and admiring the view for a moment. “ To be fair most people don’t know much about me,” Lukas said with a light smile, his eyes drifting back to Cassius without his permission. “I like dark blues and purples and bright white. Night time colors,” Lukas said with a bit of a nod expecting an answer of the other. “I’m afraid I don’t know the music question very well but I am rather fond of Rhythm and Blues.”
Lukas was calming down before there was a creature. Without thinking his eyes widened and he moved to avoid whatever the liquid was that was being thrown at the two of them. Luckily as Cassius pulled him away Lukas felt bits hitting his clothing.  Still, he was now concerned about what that was - and as soon as he could moved to look at the other vampire to make sure he was okay. He was surprised again as Cassius was quicker putting his hands on Lukas’s face to check him. It would have made Lukas melt a little if he wasn’t worried.
“I’m fine - hey - Cassius we should wash your face in the water, “Lukas said concerned now as he seemed to be woozy. Moving to catch the other, if he started to tumble he asked concerned, “ What?” Turning to follow Cassius’s gaze and finding nothing but the dark and the falls, “There’s nothing - Cassius are you alright? Let’s wash your face at least. Okay? Hey, look at me please, Kochanie.” The words falling out of his mouth as he tried to calm the other and get his attention, using words he would soothing most people. Although, admittedly he though his ears might have been warm if they could have been.
Cassius blinked at Lukas as if he were registering his words, but they weren’t sticking, not really. “He called you honey!” The same high-pitched voice rang out, causing him to shift his gaze back to the pink leopard. Admittedly, Cassius spoke some Polish. From almost two centuries of being with a Polish man, one picks up a thing or two along the way. Mostly the swears and sweet nothings, but Polish all the same. He could converse with a toddler but not much past that. “Hej, znam to słowo!” The older vampire exclaimed in an excitable voice. With his inhibitions loose, he found that any filter he once had was out the window.
“I think we should…” Cassius screwed his face up, suddenly lost in thought with what they should do instead of washing his face off. He gasped, then placed his hands on both of Lukas’s shoulders. “I think we should go for a swim!” Cassius began to nod his head, breaking out into a grin until he started laughing as if it was the most hilarious suggestion he could have come up with. For once, he felt loose. He felt free! He wanted to run around and…
He set his sights on the long-forgotten pink leopard. He wanted to hunt. The vampire’s happy exterior changed to one of a hunter, eyes changing from their normal blue to crimson. “Die, kitty.” He exclaimed, then lunged for the phantom pink cat, and was shocked when the creature suddenly vanished. His eyes returned to their blue as he swirled around, confused. “Well, that’s strange!” He exclaimed, unable to stop himself from bursting out into a fit of giggles.
“I’ve fully fucking lost it,” Cassius decided aloud. “I mean, I feel great. I haven’t felt this great since 1981.” He ran a hand through his hair, shaking his head. “Fuck Richard.” He spat, kicking at the dirt before making for the treeline, the waterfall and prospect of swimming long forgotten. “I mean, you ever think about the fact that we’re vampires because someone else said so?” He shook his head, letting out a theatrical scoff. “I was supposed to die! I was dying!” He threw his hands up in the air, then let out another string of laughter. “And he decided he couldn’t bloody live without me.” The normally subdued accent was thick, almost cockney. “Stupid arsehole.” He crossed his arms over his chest, searching the treeline for the pink kitty.
Lukas was at a bit of a loss trying to keep up with the older vampire who seemed to be suffering from something having to do with the creature. Although admittedly he was distracted on the fact that Cassius seemed to also know what he called him. That was a freak out for later - perhaps when he wasn’t trying to talk some sense.
“Sorry - I didn’t mean to overstep - I don’t think that’s wise,” Lukas managed to stutter out again a little too close to the other again. He was very tempted to just go with what Cassius wanted to do which was why he was relieved when he saw him move away from the falls now realizing he probably couldn’t get him to wash his face.
He watched as Cassius - pounced? While he tried to keep the panic off of his face he was fairly sure there was no cat anywhere and was very close to just pulling Cassius back to somehow calm the older vampire. Before he could though the other seemed to switch to another subject, one that he wasn’t quite sure he wanted to share with Lukas.
“I don’t think you’ve lost it - although given everything I think you might be high,” Lukas commented coming slightly closer and gauging what the other vampire was about to do. When he started for the tree line, Lukas followed suit noticing how agitated the other was getting. He wasn’t quite sure who Richard was until - the dots connecting Lukas said softly, “Yes I think about it a lot why I’m only like this because - Lizzie wanted me to be her companion.”
His hands trembled a little saying her name, but he focused instead on the man who seemed to becoming more British by the second. If he wasn’t slightly worried about the state of him, Lukas might have chuckled but instead he said, “Sorry to hear you were dying. I would still be alive if I hadn’t been. Can you look at me for a moment, Cassius? I really should get whatever that is off your skin before you start telling me all your secrets. It wouldn’t be very fair at all.” Without much thought he pulled off the collared shirt, thankful his undershirt seemed unmarked and thinking at least some of the shirt might help.
“Can I please help you?” Lukas said, tilting his head hoping that the other wouldn’t bolt for the trees. He was trying to keep some distance, but at this point he really should help him before they both got lost in the park. “If not, take this and see if you can get some off.”
As he continued to look for the elusive cat, Cassius couldn’t help but be stuck on Richard. Dammit, why did he have to think about him of all people? He shook his head, ridding himself of the thoughts. The action of shaking his head caused the world to start and spin. He threw his hands out to his sides to balance himself, suddenly more worried for his safety than being excited about everything that was going on. “A plaything at someone else’s expense,” he murmured to himself. The idea of this Lizzie person simply wanting a companion, were their lives really that silly in the grand scheme of things?
He blinked again, the world tilting sideways, and he found himself falling to the ground. “I hate this,” he groaned as he covered his face with his hands. “Yes, wash it off.” He begged, scrambling to his knees and blinking again. The world finally stopped spinning. His eyes searched the treeline for something, anything to keep himself grounded to reality. But then, he saw it. A familiar face that struck feelings of fear, hope, anger, and anguish all at the same time.
Richard. He was just standing there. “Please tell me he’s not there,” Cassius spoke in a hoarse whisper. He pointed to the hallucination, a tall, pale man with cropped brown hair and striking blue eyes. He shook his head again, tearing his gaze away from the man he once knew to be his safe space, who was now the cause of his every fear. “Please, I need to get it off.” Cassius was frantic now, scrambling to his feet to get to the edge of the water, splashing the cool water onto his face, desperately hoping that it would ease his troubles.
He turned his attention to where his sire was, and he was gone. He blinked once. Then again. Still, he didn’t reappear. Cassius began to nod his head slowly, letting out a sigh of relief. “Siiiiilly little vampire man.” That sing-song voice called again, causing him to search the treeline for the infernal creature once more. “This is awful, what the hell was that thing that sprayed that vile whatever it was?”
“Something like that, yes,” Lukas said softly, mostly to himself. He often felt like he was pulled out of a life to join Her, and while he had at this point in his unlife dealt with the pain it caused, there were still bits of him that resented the change. While he couldn’t say he had loved everything about the Church, he had been making a difference. He had a place, and a story he should have gotten to continue.
Still, instead of dwelling he was more concerned with Cassius following him to the ground worried when the vampire fell. He got closer to help when the other seemed absolutely horrified by something. At the whisper Lukas’s eyes followed his and he said, “No - no one’s there. Hey - careful now. Don’t fall in. ” He moved, making sure that Cassius didn’t accidentally go head first into the water offering his shirt now to the other to dry off. Part of him not quite sure what to do in this situation, worried more than anything else.
At the question Lukas shook his head and said, “ I - don’t know what it was. I’ve never seen it before - but if I were to guess it’s got something hallucinogenic with it. I think you may be high, Cassius. It may take awhile for it to wear off.” He kept a distance now that he was fairly sure that the other vampire had figured out what was happening, not wanting to encroach into his space. “I - think it's best we stay here for a little, if only so I know you don’t need to go to - I suppose the doctor?” He wasn’t sure how that would go, knowing Cassius was dead as well. “Please don’t sprint to the tree line again - you are much quicker than you think.” He said realizing that the Blonde was tracing the tree line again.
It was hard to tear his attention away from the trees, for the fear of seeing his sire skulking about was a very real one. Cassius blinked a few times, then forced himself to focus on Lukas. He listened to his voice, the content of his words. It was hard to stay focused when other stimuli were trying to force his attention elsewhere. Like that annoying, pink leopard. It was taunting him even still. He blinked a few times again, trying to regain focus. “I think…” his voice trailed off when Richard’s voice entered his mind. The fear struck him, causing him to go rigid where he stood. “You honestly think you can escape me?” The phantom voice taunted, followed by a click of his tongue.
Cassius took a deep breath, eyes downcast as he attempted to discern reality from hallucinations. He found that it was harder to do than he thought. “I think I need to go somewhere and lie down. Preferably somewhere dark.” He spoke slowly, trying to keep himself grounded in reality. He knew that Lukas had just suggested staying where they were, but there were so many things pulling his attention. Would the darkness make it worse? Probably.
“I won’t run off.” He promised, finally looking over to Lukas with a panicked smile. Cassius was trying so hard to remain civil, to not completely lose his mind over things that the other vampire could not see. This wasn’t real, he would be okay. He kept having to chant that to himself in his mind, continuing to tell himself to focus on Lukas and that he would be alright. Richard wasn’t there. “I think the only thing that’ll fix this is time,” he said reluctantly. “I need something to focus on.” He decided, clasping his hands together. “There’s so many voices and creatures in my head and vision right now, it’s hard to focus.”
Lukas watched carefully, wondering what Cassius’s experience was with his sire. He seemed to fear Richard, but perhaps not in the way Lukas feared his own. He was sure if he thought he saw Her he might actually start shaking, not wanting the older vampire to meet Her. Still, he waited cautious of the other sprinting away.
At the idea of getting Cassius away from the site Lukas nodded, knowing that perhaps there was too much around. He wanted the other to be comfortable, at least as much as he could be. “Okay. We can at least go down the path and maybe find some place to wait.” He quieted for a moment at the idea of too many thoughts. It wasn’t the same as what seemed to happen to Lukas, but there was something there he could relate too - even if he didn’t want too.
“Would it help to talk? We can walk and I can talk if that would help. I used to do it all the time - when people were scared it seemed to help,” Lukas said, avoiding the why behind it. He had been called to many last rites, and very often he stayed until the person passed. While he didn’t assume that this situation was similar, he figured it probably couldn’t hurt.  “Although I do have to admit, a lot of my stories are probably dull compared to your own.”
Blinking, Cassius attempted to center himself, anything to keep him from flying off the handle. It was weird knowing that he was hallucinating while actively hallucinating. It was as if he couldn’t trust a thing he was seeing or hearing. He wasn’t sure what he could do to ease his troubles, but Lukas’s suggestion was better than nothing, he supposed. He nodded his head and began to walk down one of the paths, needing to occupy his mind with something.
“I just need to focus on something,” Cassius spoke with a nod of his head. “If you have something to talk about, or ask questions that you’d want to know about me.” He shrugged a shoulder, trying to grasp onto something as a distant whisper beckoned him into the tree line. He swerved toward the voice, but then shook his head, setting himself back on the correct path.
“This is hell.” He decided aloud, stopping in his tracks. Cassius quickly turned to Lukas, suddenly panicked. “Not that my time with you is hell, it’s just… that toad certainly knew how to ruin things.” He sighed, lowering his head in defeat. “I understand if you’d never want to see me again after this.” He then spoke, knowing that the entire night had gone to shit faster than he imagined it ever could have.
Lukas followed, keeping up with the other as they decided on the path ahead. He nodded and said, “I mean, I can be quite the talker if push came to shove but I always have questions I want to ask. Although I don’t want to corner you in answering just because of the circumstances. It would be a little unfair.” He didn’t get to close, scared of spooking Cassius more so.
At the exclamation of hell, Lukas blinked with the explanation causing something more of a kind to a chuckle than anything else. If only to relieve the tension that was in his throat. There was a seriousness that he didn’t like. “ Sorry, I’m not laughing at you and  I mean it certainly wasn’t ideal. I feel pretty bad for suggesting this for an outing, but it’s hardly the worst one I’ve had. I could tell you that story if you would like.” At the idea of not seeing the other vampire again he couldn’t help but shake his head with a chuckle, “Again, not to laugh at you but I do want to see you again. If only to apologize profusely that I’ve gotten you high off of a toad? I mean I would understand if you would like to run me out of town, but I do hope you could find it in your heart to give me a second chance. Hopefully no invisible cats will be involved.”
As a way to show it Lukas offered Cassius his hand, lightly to not hurt himself if the other didn’t take it. “You didn’t ruin anything, and sans the toad I’ve had a lot of fun.”
Cassius hummed in response as Lukas began to talk. Already feeling himself at ease by the sound of his voice. “Sure, tell me that one.” He then spoke at Lukas bringing up the worst date he’d ever had. Cassius, for all the years he had lived, hadn’t really dated that many people in his life. Not even before Richard did he really go out with anyone. Well, there was the set-up with that young woman when he was only twenty. He blinked, shaking his head to right his thoughts back to the present.
Noticing the distance that Lukas had put between them, Cassius paused for a moment, allowing Lukas to catch up so he could walk beside. He gave Lukas a smile for reassurance. “No, please do laugh.” He insisted, raising his brows with widened eyes. “I will most assuredly laugh about it later, maybe when I’m not in the throes of it, is all.” He looked over to Lukas and shot him an amused half-smile.
“You got me high off a toad? Hardly. I think the toad got me high off of a toad.” Cassius waved a hand, dismissing the thought of Lukas being at fault entirely. A smile spread across Cassius’s face, genuine and warm. “I think I would like that. Maybe less nature. Can’t run into a toad when I’m indoors. Well, less likely, anyway.”
Lukas, surprisingly, had dated before he had joined the priesthood. Part of him had wanted to settle down instead, but the calling to religious life had been stronger than anything else. So he laughed and said, “I thought you might have a question about that. Seeing as I was a priest. Most people wouldn’t have thought I dated any. I will tell you it though if you’d like, but you really should have had more questions.” He nodded and said, “Yes, I hope you will. At least a little.” He snorted and said, “ I mean I didn’t call the toad, but you wouldn’t have been near it entirely.” Lukas returned the smile and said, “Yes - Next time let's just go do an indoor activity. Preferably no toads, but we can settle on just unlikely toads.”

TIMING: Current. PARTIES: @singdreamchild & @declinlalune SUMMARY: Miitopia. CONTENT WARNINGS: N/A
How the hell Andy had gotten herself stuck in a hole was a question she’d ask herself till the end of her days. One moment, she’d been walking, and the next? She’d fallen flat on her ass, but not before grabbing onto every root she possibly could. After about thirty minutes of trying to climb out of the seven foot hole, she’d lost all hope. Her phone was in her pack about ten feet away from where she currently sat, legs sprawled in front of her. A nasty bruise had already begun to form on her shin, but it’d be gone in a matter of hours, if she were lucky. The sun had started to dip just below the treeline, which meant she only had about an hour until she was left to complete darkness. Sure, she could see better than the average person at night, but what was she going to look for? More roots?
Andy let out an exasperated sigh before she heard her phone begin to ring. It was too bad she hadn’t set siri up to answer calls, because if she had, maybe she could have begged for help. Whoever it was might never find her, but it was better than nothing, and maybe she could direct them to Alex. Andy got to her feet again and attempted to crawl up the side of the hole, but felt the one sturdy root begin to break underneath her weight. She jumped back before she landed on her ass again and stumbled towards the other side of the hole, her back landing flat against the dirt, which started a shower of more dirt to fall over her hair and shoulders, as well as into her mouth. She spluttered dramatically and tossed her head back before letting out a loud yell of discontent.
And then– footsteps. Andy paused for a moment, waiting to hear breathing, or maybe talking, but nothing, until– the person arrived over the top of the hole and Andy was left to stare against shadows swarming over the blonde’s features. “You will never guess what happened to me, and if you help me, I’ll tell you, and give you like, twenty bucks.”
When the sun dipped behind the trees, that was the perfect time that Cassius went out for a stroll at the nearby nature trail. He would love to feel the sun against his skin and the sound of the birds in the trees in the middle of the day, but some things just weren’t meant to be, not when it would burn him alive. He took a deep breath, taking in the smell of the fresh air. It was calming, in a way. As he walked onward, he pulled out an earbud and popped it into his ear, leaving the othe ear free in case of a runner or biker.
What Cassius hadn’t been expecting, was the noise that was coming from nearby. The sound of scratching and struggling. At first, he chocked it up to being an animal, something either stuck or being potentially hunted, he didn’t pay it any mind. But then he heard a phone ring, then frustrated yelling. That… definitely wasn’t an animal. Narrowing his eyes, he decided it was best to investigate. As he neared the sound, he spotted the nearby pack that had been left next to what he could only describe as a comically large hole in the ground. “What the fuck?” He muttered to himself as he neared closer, peering over the edge of the hole to see a red-headed girl covered in dirt at the bottom of this… what he could only assume was some kind of trap. Why else would a giant hole be out in the middle of the woods?
He blinked as she spoke, quickly plucking the earbud out of his ear and shoving it into his pocket as he got down onto his front and held his arms down into the hole, hoping it was enough for her to be able to grab hold of her hands. “I know this is probably the same for you, but this might be the weirdest shit that’s happened to me all week.” Cassius admitted with a grunt as grabbed onto her hands and began to pull her up, trying to mask his strength so it seemed like he was at least struggling a little.
“Not the weirdest, but still pretty fucking– I don’t know.” Andy was embarrassed. How the hell she’d not seen the hole was a question for another time. She was being rescued, and even though she knew it wasn’t necessarily a good sign, not being able to sense the person who was around her made her feel a little more at ease, mostly because the imbedded guilt of who she was and what she was capable of always floated at the back of her mind. The stranger immediately got down onto the ground and his arm stuck down into the hole, which Andy attempted to run up at the wall and sort of leap off of in an attempt to grab it, only she was a bit too short to do so.
“Shit. Uh, do you see a branch or something that you can stick down here to maybe help?” Whether or not she’d just pull him in by trying to grab it was a risk she was willing to take. Andy might have had an easier time if that were to happen, because he seemed tall, which meant he could boost her out and she could in turn pull him up. He looked a little scrawny. “If not, can I try and break off one of these roots and throw it up to you?”
Once he realized that reaching down wasn’t working, he sat up to look around for something to hoist the girl up with. As she asked if Cassius had seen a branch, he spotted a fallen branch, skinny enough to hoist up, but wide enough to not snap in half if it was used to pull her up. He got up and walked over to the branch, picking it up and inspecting it for a moment, it seemed rather fresh, not rotted and prone to snapping. Once he felt that it was a viable option, he jogged back over to the hole, and inspected the perimeter. Spotting a root sticking out of the ground, he inwardly cheered and stuck the front of his foot into the loop that the root created and lowered the branch for the girl to grab. He knew using his strength was risky, there was always a chance that someone could see him, or he could be helping someone who could be a risk to him. Anything was possible, that’s why he was always so careful.
“If this doesn’t work, we should probably call the fire department,” he suggested with a frown. He hoped there was signal out here. He usually came out here to relax, not make phone calls, so he wasn’t too sure. “I’ve got some leverage here with this root, so maybe we can do this.” He added, knowing it was a long shot, but Cassius had to try.
Andy waited for the blonde to return with what she had requested. In that time, she spun around in a dizzying circle, trying to figure out if there was anywhere in the hole that would support her weight. She had tried everything before the man had shown up, and even though she knew her best bet was for him to now pull her out, she couldn’t help but feel like it was up to her to get herself out of the mess. As he stuck the branch out to her, she squinted up at him. It looked sturdy enough, and he looked proud which meant that it would work, maybe.
“The fire department? No, I don’t want to waste their time. If anything, I can just dig my way out. You don’t happen to own a tractor, do you?” Andy neared the wall and dug her foot into the side, knowing that the dirt would give way as soon as she hoisted herself upward. Relying on that momentum, she grabbed the branch and held onto it tightly, positioning herself against the wall so that she wasn’t rocking back too much. The last thing she needed was for her weight to pull him down with her.
“Alright, no fire department. No tractor either, sorry. Can’t say I go around collecting them.” He responded with a teasing tone. Cassius watched as Andy grabbed the branch. He continued to weight he option of just yanking her out in his mind, but came to the ultimate conclusion that it was indeed too risky. So, he began to pull her up with ease, but used his boot that was in the root to pull up, as if it were an anchor to keep him in place, and leaned back as if he were struggling to pull her up. The last thing he would need to do is explain himself if he made it look too easy.
As he pulled her up, he made a face, yanking upward as she began to ascend up the side of the hole. “As soon as you can, grab the ledge and I’ll come help you out,” he grunted out as he kept pulling. He still couldn’t help but wonder why there was a gaping hole in the middle of the woods. A hunter trap? Maybe for normal animals or supernatural? He wasn’t sure, but all he knew is that it was best to find someone to fill it in before someone else fell in.
“That’s a disappointment.” Andy grit her teeth, doing her best to make it appear as though she were struggling pulling her weight upwards. Even if she didn’t necessarily fall into the category of ranger anymore – at least, in her own eyes, she still had the build of one. She still had the strength of one, even if she found it more cursed than helpful. It made good for throwing sacks of flour around Bread Cemetery, and it made good for when she’d gotten herself stuck in holes. Apparently. Maybe if she weren’t the one in the hole, Andy would comment that it looked like the blonde might snap in half from the exertion. Instead, she kept her mouth shut.
Andy grunted as she made one final push upward. Finally, she was free from the hole. She army crawled her way to the side, elbows digging into the dirt, and once her legs were no longer hanging over the edge, she rolled onto her back and stared up at the trees. The sun was going down fast, and it was luck she didn’t have to spend the entire night there. She looked over at her savior and smiled at him, reaching up for a high five. “You saved my ass. Thanks.” She took another deep breath and rubbed a dirt covered hand over her already dirt dusted face. “I owe you a drink, or like, five.”
He threw the large branch to the side once the girl had pulled herself out of the hole, clapping his hands together. “Right before the sun fully set too,” he remarked, glad that he wouldn’t have to worry about its potential to burn him any longer. Giving her a somewhat lame high five, he inspected the girl in front of him, realizing that they still didn’t really know each others name. “I’m Cassius,” he introduced as he pressed a hand to his chest. “Glad that I came around so you didn’t end up sleeping down there.” He motioned over to the hole, still confused over how it ended up there in the first place.
“So was it covered with leaves like a hunter trap or something?” He asked, tilting his head to the side as he neared the edge of it, peering down. “How does a giant hole like this… happen?” He then followed up, finding himself more and more confused as to how any of this happened in the first place. “No need to repay me,” he spoke, raising his hands. “I’m just glad I was around to help  you.”
“Yeah, sure, the sun.” She probably had sunburn from how long she’d been stuck down there. She had never been the type to tan. Instead, more freckles popped up. Andy took a deep breath and slid her hand down her face before resting it against her chest. She stared up at the sky, watching how the light of day began to ebb away from the treetops. As he gave his name, Andy cleared her throat and leaned up slowly. Resting her hands on her knees as she sat criss-cross next to him. “I’m Andy.” At his comment, she couldn’t help but laugh. “No kidding. That would have sucked.” She squinted at the hole.
When he questioned whether or not it had been covered in leaves, she laughed. “Something like that, sure. I’m not sure how I missed it.” It hadn’t been there, and then it was. “Moles, maybe? Really big moles.” Andy actually wasn’t sure if there was a mole big enough to make a hole this size. There probably was. Or maybe it was one of those worms. She couldn’t remember what they were called. “Well, you can say no need to repay, but I’ll do it anyway. I don’t like debts.” Unless they were strewn across the country as a means of survival. But now it was different. “We should cover it… or call someone, right?”
Cassius watched Andy for a moment, more just to make sure that she was alright than anything. “Big moles… right.” He paused, thinking of the strange worm creature that had taken a bite out of Zack about a week ago. Surely if that thing existed, more strange creatures had to exist as well. He shook his head, bringing his attention back to the present.
Cassius continued to stare into the hole, narrowing his eyes as he tried to think of what to do. “Yes, definitely should call someone.” He looked around, it was getting too dark out to really stick around for much longer. “Do you know who to call for something like this? The park services or something?” He frowned, not really knowledgable about who kept the forest in working order. “We really should get out of here before we trip over ourselves in complete darkness.” He suggested, gesturing toward the hiking trail.
Maybe she could tell Alex. Wasn’t that something that her little gaggle of park rangers were responsible for? Maybe she hadn’t been in the park entirely, but still, this felt like something they should know about. Andy sighed before getting to her feet. “I think so. My sister might know who to reach out to.”
He wasn’t wrong. Being in the woods after dark was probably not the smartest decision. She could see fairly well, despite the low lighting situation, but it wouldn’t be good if something attacked them. She didn’t want to see the person who just saved her from a hole get hurt in the crossfire of something bigger. “Yeah, for sure.” Andy grabbed her backpack from where it rested against the tree and took out her phone, sending a quick text to Alex that probably wouldn’t send until they were closer to town.

I See Dead People || Cassius & Lil
Timing: About a Week ago Location: Eluria Cemetery Feat: @singdreamchild, @the-lil-exorcist Warnings: Missing Family, generally none!
Summary: Lil again follows a lead from Jude's book that leads to a cemetery. Cassius unfortunately has to catch up with his old student.
Lil hadn’t meant to do an exorcism in the cemetery tonight following a lead that she was pretty sure was another dead end. Still, when she had stumbled across a ghost that was clearly tethered to her tombstone - Lil couldn’t help but pause. She had looked sad sitting on top of the crumbling structure her arms folded under chin staring longingly at the tree that was probably just out of her reach. Although Lil couldn’t hear her, she could almost feel the sigh the ghost had. She must have been there a long time, the tombstone barely readable as one the name in the stone looking something like Allison - or maybe Alyssa Lil wasn’t sure.
So - despite the important things Lil did have to do - she had gone over to the ghost and asked softly if she wanted to be exorcized so she didn’t have to stay tethered here. After all, Lil couldn’t send her any other way. Whoever tethered a soul like this bound them in a way that only an exorcism could free them. That she just had to nod to Lil, and she’d do so - although Lil warned that her soul would be destroyed. The ghost had nodded and stood on top of the grave stone looking excitedly at Lil - a hope she wasn’t sure was necessarily deserved. Still, Lil had carefully started the ritual under the watchful eyes of the other who was happily watching. Lil could see a smile on her face as she suddenly disappeared as the ritual was done, her eyes looking off to a place that Lil couldn’t see..
“Good by then, Al- I think your name was Alyssa now that I’m looking at it,” Lil said with a sigh leaning down on the tombstone for a moment, tired from the ritual. Normally something simple like this wouldn’t make her tired - but she was exhausted as of late. “I hope you don’t mind me taking a moment here. I’ll go get you one of those apples off the tree in a minute. Must have looked good from where you were.” She continued softly looking around the graveyard. While she never had the same attachment to ghosts her twin did - well she never hated them either. While she’d never know the other’s story she could still feel sorry.
Tonight, Cassius had decided to stay in. Usually he tried to stay out as late as he could, mostly to avoid going to what he called home, nothing more than an empty crypt. After moving for what felt like the fiftieth time, he stopped caring about living in a house or apartment. What was the point in spending money on something that he barely used, anyway? What was a living space to one that was no longer living? Since he had a habit of moving around so much, he lost sense of why he should have a home to call his own when home was always moving around. He hadn’t intended to stay in Wicked’s Rest for as long as he had, but something was keeping him there, whether it be because he was waiting for someone he knew was long gone or because he just felt drawn to such a strange place, he wasn’t sure.
So tonight, he decided he would take a walk among the gravestones, learn about who was laid to rest around him. He had long found cemeteries peaceful, a good place to relax and read his poetry against a willow tree. As soon as he exited the crypt, the door closing with a loud thud, Cassius froze. Sitting amongst the headstones was a girl, a girl who was terribly close to where he just exited from. Could he get away with saying he was just visiting? But who goes inside of crypts? His mind raced a mile a minute as he grappled with the fact that he might just be caught from one move. The last thing he needed was someone like a hunter on his tail, waiting for him to leave just to strike at him.
Cassius took a few steps in the other direction of the girl, praying that she didn’t notice him. But of course how could she not? The stone door was the only thing that made noise in this silent resting place. He waited for the inevitable as he continued walking, hands balled into fists as he waited for her to speak to him.
Lil had been pretty sure she was alone in this section of the cemetery as she sat in the still for a moment, liking the quiet. Sure, there were people around - she’d be naive to think that there weren’t supernatural folks in a graveyard- but they generally left her alone. She wasn’t sure what it was about Mediums, but she guessed it was the fact that she was often looking or speaking at ghosts while she was there. Unlike other humans that interacted with supernatural folks, that seemed to be enough to keep exorcists out of the worst conflicts slipping within the cracks of each society.
Maybe, Lil thought idly, that was why so many of them were so lonely. Sure, she was very rarely seen as a threat but she was hardly seen as a friend either. Still, as she heard a shutter of a door closing Lil wasn’t super concerned looking up mostly at the noise. After all, whoever had been tailing her earlier wasn’t particularly careful and must have not liked the job. It might have been arrogance on her part, but she was pretty sure she’d left them somewhere around where the mime restaurant was.
Squinting and sitting up, Lil saw the man, and for a moment was just going to let him go, noticing it wasn’t the dark haired person in a hoodie. There was something in the walk that reminded Lil of someone - and for a moment she thought about it and then connected the memory. Scrambling up Alyssa’s stone Lil called out to the man that she was pretty sure taught her history, “Hey - Teach? Is that you? Mr. Hawthorne? Hey wait up.”
Cassius inwardly cursed as he heard his name called out, great. It was worse than he thought, it was a student of his, former or current, it didn’t matter. He had been caught. Maybe she’d think he was visiting someone? That’s all he could hope for, at least. He wracked his brain for what student of his she could be, he’d had so many over the years, it was easy to forget the former classes after the new class took their place. Was she in his world history class? AP Euro? Both? He couldn’t be sure. All he knew for certain was that she was calling out to him.
Finally, the vampire turned around with raised brows and a polite smile upon his features. “Ah, yes. Caught me.” He spoke, his tone as if he were servicing someone as opposed to making small talk. Getting a good look at the girl, it finally clicked. She had been his student, though the name escaped him. Cassius clapped his hands together, that same polite smile on his features. “I see we’ve both found ourselves in the cemetery at a late hour, hm?” He said, as if stating the obvious would help his cause.
Lil caught up with the man, thinking that something was odd when she did, but she wasn’t exactly sure what. . Out of Lil’s teachers he had been one that she hadn’t minded as much, most likely because she hadn’t been as tired when she had taken his class. It wasn’t that Lil disliked school, but when exorcism training became more important she fell behind. After all, she wasn’t going to go to college anyway - she wouldn’t have gotten the chance too with how busy the family business was. Still, she had fond memories of history class even if her grades were too poor to get into the later AP one.
“Oh is it late?” Lil said looking at her phone to see that it was later than she thought. She must have been sitting at Alyssa’s grave longer than she thought she had. “I guess so. I got sidetracked. Were you visiting someone? I don’t see many visitors over here, but I haven’t been back in town that long” She said, hoping that he wasn’t trying to find the ghost she just released.
Looking back at her former teacher - something seemed to click as she thought how odd it was he didn’t seem to have changed much. Lil didn’t make it a habit of following around people from her past - but she had to admit he looked like he did ten years ago.
“Ah I bet you don’t remember me now that I’m thinking about it. I’m Lil Ballard - Jonas’s Twin? I probably look different then you last saw me.”  She didn’t make a comment about how he didn’t.
He checked his watch at his wrist, half past nine at night, dark. Dark enough for Cassius to go venturing outside without getting burned up, dark enough for it to be strange wandering around a graveyard this late, but he was the last person to be suspicious, considering how he lived there.
Cassius paused for a long time as he tried to decide who he was visiting. “I, uh.” He paused, pointing to the crypt he had walked out of, luckily everything he owned that was in there before he left was now in the book bag he had slung across his shoulder. “I was more admiring than I was visiting.” He settled on. After all, a goth in a graveyard wasn’t an uncommon occurrence.
The name finally clicked, he had remembered her. She wasn’t a remarkable student, but she had passed, and that’s all Cassius could hope for at the end of the day. “Ah, yes! I remember you. Good to see that you’re doing well.” He gave a polite smile, clapping his hands together in front of him. “You certainly don’t look fourteen anymore, which I would hope for in a former student.” He tilted his head from side to side, looking around for a moment. “Were you visiting someone, then?” He then asked in turn, wondering what had her out so late.
Lil’s eyebrow lifted slightly at the idea that a highschool teacher was just admiring the cemetery at night in this town especially. It didn’t seem like a particularly safe thing to do - although in his defense it wasn’t like she should be here either. “Ah. I see. Any particular thing you wanted to see? I hear there’s a lot of different crypts around here. Haven’t been around here for a long while, so I can’t say I remember a lot of it.”
Lil could see that the other hadn’t quite connected the dots, but that was to be expected. If he hadn’t looked the same, Lil probably wouldn’t have realized he was her history teacher after all. “Not bad at all.” At the comment she couldn’t help but laugh and say, “Yes - I would hope I wouldn’t look fourteen anymore. How are you?”
At the question about visiting someone Lil wondered what to say that wouldn’t freak the other out. “I - am working actually but you can say I was trying to find someone,” She said lightly trying to be vague as she found other shimmering ghosts who were now coming closer - probably because of Lil herself. It really wasn’t their fault - mediums were fairly rare and Lil imagined they just wanted someone to acknowledge them. Still, she had meant to just look and see if she could find the Ghost Jude talked about - which now was probably ruined since she wouldn’t be able to ask them anything and they weren’t around their own tombstones. It was about to be a pain in the ass to find the ghost.
Although maybe there was another way to deal with this as  Lil’s eyes wandered slightly behind her hold teacher looking at a ghost for a moment before going back to him, trying to gauge what the ghost wanted and hoped they wouldn’t come closer. “Teach, do you come to the cemetery often? If so, do you know the tombstone of Jerimiah Pemberly,” She said slightly loudly hoping that if one of the ghosts had that name that they would turn to look at her.
Cassius froze as Lil asked what he found himself out in the cemetery for. He was never very good with coming up with lies, for all the time he had been out there, he’d never actually been caught before. He spent maybe too long trying to think of an explanation. “I, ah.” He paused, letting out a sigh. “I find myself drawn to cemeteries. I like to read and hang around.” He gestured to his clothing, a long black trench coat with a black frilly collared dress shirt, black pants and doc martens. “I kinda fit all the goth stereotypes, don’t I?” He decided to brush it off as if he were embarrassed, mostly because he was embarrassed. “I fell asleep in there, lost track of time,” he lied easily as he shoved his hands into his pockets.
He always found it strange running into his students so many years later. How they had matured from being teenagers into full-blown adults. “Certainly not fourteen, no.” He agreed with a soft smile. “I’ve been good. Still teaching the same thing I’ve been teaching, no changes there.” He tilted his head from side to side, thinking for a moment.
Cassius narrowed his eyes as she asked about a random name, unsure what the specificity was for. Then again, if she were working on something… whatever that something was. “Is that who you’re looking for?” He asked, frowning. He had to admit, the name wasn’t all that familiar. “I haven’t heard that name before,” he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. For as long as he had been in the cemetery, he had only really looked around at tombstones that were close to the crypt he stayed in. “Not to say it’s not here, I just don’t know it.” He decided to clarify, clasping his hands behind his back. “What is it you do for work?” He decided to ask, seeing as how her job involved cemeteries and looking for people. He couldn’t help but be curious.
Lil’s eyebrow crooked up at her former teacher's explanation, thinking that it was at least a funny one. Lil didn’t exactly look like a prep either - her style was slightly malleable depending but she wasn’t far off of a punk style herself. “Fair enough. Although you probably should be careful about falling asleep in cemeteries.”
Lil’s eyes looked back at Cassius to not be particularly suspicious as she had just called out a dead man’s name, and nodded. “You don’t seem to look very much different though. That’s gotta be nice.” Lil didn’t stay on the statement for long, mostly because she didn’t care a whole lot about why her former history teacher looked like he could have been a peer and not an adult while she was still a teen. She figured that it wasn’t something he particularly wanted to talk about, but it was fun to think that she might have been right that he wasn’t human.
Jane would have owed her 10 bucks. Lil’s eyes went back and she saw a ghost turn his head quickly towards her and away as if he didn’t want her to know. Bingo. At the question she gave an easy smile and said, “Yes. I’ve been spending most of the afternoon trying to find it. Bigger cemetery then you would think it would be. I just had a rest with Alyssa over there -” She nodded back at the tombstone, “ but that’s who I wanted to see.”
Lil had a suspicion she now knew where the ghost was - and the rest of the ghosts were still creeping towards them. Mostly, Lil didn’t think that they would be a bother. She tended to leave ghosts who didn’t need help alone, but she really didn’t want to be surrounded by them either. They didn’t affect her like they did Jonas - she couldn’t hear their murmurings and that seemed to be what kept Jonas up - but it wasn’t exactly pleasant either. At the question Lil said, “Oh. I’m an exorcist .” She said it easily, knowing that the ghost could hear her, and as she expected they stopped coming so close now a bit weary of the Medium. “Although I’m not here to do that right now. I’m just hoping to talk to him.”
There was a moment where Cassius seriously considered darting away to avoid the comment Lil had made about looking very good for his age. “I, uh. Thank you, I blame genetics.” He offered as a lame response, knowing it was the only explanation he possibly had other than outright admitting to her that he was a vampire, and therefore lived in the cemetery. No, that wasn’t an option. The more people that knew meant the more people could be a possible threat for him. He never knew who had a hunter in their back pocket.
As she explained that she was an exorcist, everything started to make more sense for Cassius. It explained why she was in the cemetery, looking for someone specific, as well as why she was out so late at night, probably doing a ritual for this Alyssa that she had mentioned. “Ah, I must admit I’ve never heard of that before.” He admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. If he could be a vampire, than certainly there could be exorcists out there. “This Jerimiah person, what is it you need to speak for him for?” He asked, genuinely curious.
Lil nodded at the idea, thinking that the other should probably keep his secrets. After all, it really wasn’t her business other than she thought it was a little funny. Exorcists were pretty neutral in things all things considered. While she might work with hunters, it was usually for a specific reasons and not a general endorsement of well anything. She worked just as well with supernatural folks after all, and at the end of the day possessions happened to anyone and needed to be resolved by an exorcist.
“Not surprising. There aren’t a lot of us out in the wild and I’m particularly stupid to give  out the information for free,” Lil said simply looking at the ghost for a moment glad that they weren’t coming closer now but talking amongst themselves. She couldn’t hear what they were saying - although to be fair to her they were farther away she didn’t think most people could have heard them. “Most people think of uh Catholic Priests I think. Or I think there’s a medium show people like on tv.”
It used to annoy her, as it meant a lot of people who had a real problem went to fakes that couldn’t help them but she had accepted the landscape. At the question Lil thought it was a wonderful help, as the ghosts were still clearly listening to her and it maybe it would help. “My sibling has his name down as someone who needed help with something and I wanted to see what he knew - if anything. I’m assuming they were trying to bring someone to help him pass on without an exorcism.” After all, Lil destroyed souls when she exorcized them and if the ghost wasn’t doing anything wrong it was overkill to say the least. If she was right, she’d bring Jonas with her and help the soul, and if the soul was dangerous instead she’d exorcize him.
_________
Cassius listened with a thoughtful gaze as she spoke, he found it fascinating that there were exorcists that weren’t what he pictured. He supposed it made sense, if he could exist as he was, then ghosts certainly could. “I imagine it’s a lot of hard work as well,” he spoke in earnest. He found himself deep in thought for a moment. If she found it in her to tell him the truth about what she was, then maybe she would understand that he wasn’t all he appeared to be either. Could he trust her with such a revelation? Maybe it was rather obvious. He frowned, putting a painted finger to his lip as he continued to think on it.
“Well, you might be exorcising things, while I’m over here pretending that I age.” He gave an awkward smile, scratching at the back of his neck. “I… actually live here,” he spoke, deciding to tell the girl the truth. “I’m, uh. Kind of a walking stereotype of a vampire,” he admitted with a small, sheepish smile. “I’ve seen some weird things in this cemetery, but I’m happy to say I’ve never seen ghosts.” He frowned, looking around for a moment. “I don’t think I’d be very happy living here if I did. I can imagine this place can be quite loud.” He turned to her, trying to gauge a reaction from her.
“I suppose I tell you this about me because you’ve told me this about you.” He frowned, narrowing his gaze. “And I trust you to not tell anyone untoward either.” He then added, just in case there was something nefarious about her he needed to worry about. Still, he had always liked her as a student, even if she hadn’t done the best. Looking back, now it made a little bit of sense. She was attentive, just no in the things that other people would typically decide to be studious in.
___________
Lil shrugged a little at the observation. “I guess,” Lil said, her eyes still flickering behind her old teacher to see the ghosts who were now going about their undead lives again. She wanted to say it wasn’t hard, but that wasn’t true. It left her exhausted and battered at the best of the time. Maybe it was more so that she had grown up with it - and with that was used to it all. Still, that wasn’t exactly something she wanted to talk about now.
Lil’s head tilted slightly when he started talking again - realizing that he was trying to tell her what he was. “Ah - I mean. That would explain why you look the same,” Lil said with a bit of a smile to be at least a bit reassuring and not at all shocked. While she wouldn’t have exactly guessed, Lil had spent more time around supernatural folks than most. After the seventh or eighth supernatural person she’d helped out - well she stopped keeping track of most of them, deciding that it wasn’t really worth it.  Sure, she always kept tabs on who didn’t like who - for example she’d never bring a hunter with her if she was dealing with a possessed zombie- or what some species were allergic to that might mean she needed to change a ritual, but other than that she didn’t really care.
“I mean - it’s not the worst stereotype. I doubt you're the only one living around here. I’m not sure what’s common, but I’m used to running into all sorts in cemeteries like this,” Lil said kindly, trying to make him feel a little bit better. At his not seeing ghost she laughed a little and said, “I’m sure they are just respecting your house - most of them aren’t trying to bother anyone. The cemetery  has a good amount of spirits though. Most of them don’t stay here for long .” She didn’t want to point out that he probably had seen ghosts and didn’t realize it, mostly because she wasn’t sure if vampires did see ghosts. She had thought they did, but maybe that was just zombies. She never really kept track of stuff like that. “If they are bothering you though, just let me know and I’ll talk to them.” Well, more likely she’d ask Jonas to talk to them, she wasn’t good at talking with them.
At the almost threat Lil raised her eyebrow slightly, but couldn’t help but break the expression quickly. “Don’t worry about it, Teach. I’m not in the business of exposing anyone and I wouldn’t start here. Promise.” After all, while she was perfectly happy talking about ghosts and the like to most people, she was pretty tight lipped on anything else. Simply, it wasn’t her intention to get anyone hurt, and ghosts were much different than any other type of supernatural.  “I appreciate you telling me. I also don’t mind if anyone around you is dealing with a possession or something if you give them my name.”
Cassius breathed an inward sigh of relief as she shrugged off what he had just told her with ease. He wasn’t sure why he told her in the first place. Part of him was just hoping for a little excitement after spending nearly two centuries hiding and waiting for something bad to happen. Still, he was relieved that she took in stride. “Yeah, I’m starting to feel I’m reaching my limit with this place, still looking as young as I was ten years ago.” He admitted, scratching at the back of his neck.
He thought to richard who was undoubtedly lurking somewhere nearby. “There’s undoubtedly more, you’re right.” He responded as he took in his surroundings, just on the off chance that the elder vampire was indeed lurking around nearby. “I’ve seen ghosts before, but you might be right about them respecting my space.” He had never come into contact with one around here, probably because they were all patiently waiting to move on, which he could respect. Cassius respected the dead just as they respected him, they lived in harmony here.
“If I ever run into a problem, you’ll be the first person I reach out to.” He promised her with a nod of his head and a soft smile. “As well as if anyone I know comes into contact with anything paranormal as well.” He touched a hand to his satchel. “I should probably get going.” Cassius spoke, not wanting to be out in the open in the cemetery for too long, lest someone find him that he didn’t want to find him. Ever since Sofie had been attacked in the cemetery, he’d been on edge. “I’ll see you around, I’m sure. After all, I do live in a cemetery.” He chuckled before turning around to go on his way into the night. It was nice to meet more people that knew and accepted supernatural and had a quirk of their own. After spending so much time in the dark away from everyone else, it was nice to know that the community of supernatural wasn’t as small as he thought.

Valeria had never done something like this before, but she figured since she was new in town and had nothing else to do that weekend, she might as well just say fuck it and go ahead and sign up for this. After all, what was the worst that could happen? Not like she'd never had a bad date before--besides, this was supposed to be some of the best food around so..if nothing else, it was a free meal and the ability to say she'd had michelin star food. Not a bad deal in her opinion.
So Val got dressed up that evening and headed off to the fancy restaurant, admittedly a bit overwhelmed for a moment at the opulence of it all before she just shook it off and headed to the maître d, giving her name and following along to a table, and when she saw who was sitting there she resisted the urge to huff out a laugh. She'd only been here for all of a month, she knew next to no one, yet the person sitting there was someone she knew, albeit vaguely. Go figure.
"Hi." She replied with a playful little smile as she came up beside him, "You're not gonna chew me out for being awake too early again are you?"

where: neptune, date night!
Cassius had made an extra effort to be on-time tonight, it wasn't often that he bothered with the whole dating scene, but if he was going on a date with somebody? He was going to date the shit out of them. He'd arrived so early, he'd managed to get himself a drink at the bar, loitering and lowly judging other matches, sure that he could tell that one guy would absolutely be wearing a glass of flying champagne before the appetizers had finished.
(that he certainly looked forward to.)
Checking his watch, he decided it was finally time to take his place, and having checked in with the host to show him where he'd be seated, he sat comfortably at the table. A quick check of his phone to see that it was on do not disturb and that was slid firmly into his jacket pocked.
Thats when he saw her. He couldn't quite place her face, but as she headed towards him something told him that it'd perhaps be he that would be wearing that very champagne he'd thought about earlier.

"Hey." He remarks, standing up to greet Valeria as she reached their table.

Icarus Lead the Way
TIMING: Sunday after this PARTIES:@lukas-dark-miracles & @singdreamchild LOCATION: Outside a Local Theater SUMMARY: Cassius has some things he needs to confess. Luckily his boyfriend was a priest. CONTENT WARNINGS: mentions of domestic abuse
So much had happened to him in such a short amount of time. Cassius had already planned to meet up with Lukas. The local theatre was performing Macbeth, his favorite Shakespeare play. It hadn’t taken a lot of convincing on Cassius’s part. Lukas seemed to be happy to tag along. The play was great; he was impressed with the production quality and acting for it being a local performance. He had become a bit of a theatre snob over the years due to being alive for so long. However, he had difficulty paying attention, wondering what Zofia was doing with Richard at their house and what he’d say to Lukas.
When they were leaving the theatre, he could feel a worried gaze coming from Lukas. He knew something was wrong, and Cassius needed to ensure that Lukas knew it wasn’t because of him. “Take a walk with me?” He had asked him, giving him a genuine smile, and held his hand out for the man to take. His stomach was tied up in knots, and he knew what he needed to say, and he knew that Lukas would undoubtedly decide that he wasn’t worth it and leave. So he decided to lay all his cards out on the table. As they walked, Cassius finally spoke what was on his mind, or at least started to.
“I should probably tell you that my personal life has become a complete shit show.” He began, staring at the ground for a moment before looking over at Lukas before continuing. “I was with someone before you, and she disappeared. I presumed her dead. It turns out that hunters got her and kept her. And now she’s back.” He stopped, looking over at Lukas again. “I’m trapped with this guilt that I left her behind, but feelings for someone else. You.” There. He’d laid it all out on the table. If Lukas wanted to walk away, he’d understand.
Lukas had smiled at the invitation to the performance having slipped out of the crumbling manor to go visit the other vampire. Still, he couldn’t help but sense something was off even if it was just slightly. It didn’t seem like a strain he had caused, but still he was light in talking to Cassius wanting to make sure there was enough space between them. It had seemed the last time this had happened it was because he had gotten too close.
It would be alright after all, they had theoretically the rest of eternity to figure it out if they needed too. It should have startled Lukas to think that way, to assume anything, but he did figure that he would know Cassius for a long time no matter what. Whatever problems and strains either of them had they could talk it through when it was time.
At the question he smiled and said, “Of course.”  At the offered hand he gently placed his to Cassius’s wondering what it would have been like if either of them were warm. It was an idle thought as he let the silence stand, wondering if he needed to break it or if it would be broken.
He hadn’t quite expected it to shatter, as Cassius started his face turning from concern to confusion to something fairly close to shock. “I - is she okay?” He said searching Cassius’s face wondering idly who the other was but mostly worried that he seemed afraid for her. “That’s wonderful that she was found still alive -” then Lukas realized sharply what Cassius was worried about.
“Oh. I - see,” Lukas said with a pause as emotions he didn’t know how to express flash by. How odd to feel this now, but he said softly, “I’m sorry. That is an - awful situation. I understand if you want me to leave you alone.” He didn’t want to either - a thought that went sharply into his mind, a selfishness he wasn’t expecting. It wasn’t usual for him, even now as a shadow of a priest he always seemed to have the need to give everything up if necessary.
Lukas  didn’t want to now though, and that burned in his throat as he tried to give Cassius a gentle smile anyway. “I will, if you want.”  The selfishness refused to let him out of making it Cassius’s decision even if the kinder bit would have just been to walk away. He could walk away, but only if he knew he had too.
As soon as he realized that Lukas thought the conversation would go one way, Cassius felt the need to do damage control. He took Lukas’s other hand, holding them tight as he faced the man. “I don’t want you to go anywhere,” he insisted with a sincere gaze. “I’m not walking away from you. But I want you to be… aware.” He dropped Lukas’s hands, feeling that he had hammered the idea home well enough. “Turns out she’s been following me for quite some time.” He began to explain as he continued to walk with Lukas. “She’s been leaving people who look like me around town, drained of blood.” He sighed, realizing for the first time just how far gone Zofia was.
“When I finally confronted her, she hit me.” Cassius frowned, rubbing his cheek where the slap had occurred. “Because I told her I couldn’t walk away from you.” He glanced in Lukas’s direction, worried what the other could be thinking. Surely, this was a lot to digest, right? Surely, he’d want nothing to do with him after this conversation. “While I’ll always love her, I…” he trailed off, his steps slowing down as he struggled to find the right words. “She’s someone else now.” He closed his eyes for a moment, then shook his head again. “She needs help. I offered it to her, but she refused.” He shrugged a shoulder. That part was understandable.
“When she left, I looked for her everywhere. I spent over a month losing myself to the grief of it all. I did things I’d never done before.” Cassius looked around, glad that not many people were near them. “I gave into my instincts and avoided everything else. I had to, for my own sanity, move forward. I didn’t go looking to find someone, but…” He gave an awkward smile, nudging Lukas lightly. “There you were.”
Cassius’s steps faltered and he turned to face Lukas again. “I have a lot of things in my past that have come back to bite me recently, but. If you’ll have me, I’d like to court you properly. I like you a lot.”
Lukas blinked not expecting his other hand to be taken, expecting to put space between themselves not for it to be shortened. “I - okay,” He said simply, his brain trying to keep up with what was happening. He almost took Cassius’s hands back out of a habit - wanting the other to be close to him. Still he didn’t listen carefully to what he said.
“I - oh that’s probably not good,” Lukas said eyebrow furrowing at the idea wondering exactly why she was doing that but knowing that it wasn’t a good time to pry. He was still worried about the other woman Cassius was talking about until he heard that he had been hit. His jaw twitched slightly at the idea until - oh.
Lukas froze slightly wondering if Cassius realized what he was implying their eyes widening as it hit him. He didn’t interrupt though, letting Cassius continue on his mind reeling with all the different things that were being said and implied. He was sure if his heart could beat it would be quickening as he tried to pull alway something very serious and scary from - the fact Cassius was confessing liking him. His steps lightly next to the man as he tried to process it, his hands going up to where his glasses had been - which he was now not wearing at the moment not having time to replace them since the nose broke- as he tried to gather his thoughts.
They had been circling each other, not quite saying quiet parts out loud. Lukas hadn’t realized that maybe Cassius had found him as dear as he had with him. It shocked him, but there was something warm and bubbling in him too at the thought.
“I - didn’t realize you were going through all of that. I am sorry,” Lukas said first the words falling from his lips before realizing Cassius had asked him a fairly serious question and probably didn’t want sympathy at the moment.
“I - sorry you just said a lot at once both very happy and extremely sad,” Lukas said, swearing he could feel his face heat up. Reaching out, if only so he wasn’t misunderstood he continued, “Yes I would like -” and then he realized what Cassius said. Without thinking he chuckled, his face lighting up at the word choice.
“Yes. I would like that a lot, sorry - that was just a very old fashioned word and I wasn’t expecting it. I would like to go out with you too, Cassius. Although, I will have to admit, I’m not quite sure what courting entails. You’ll have to explain,” He said winking at Cassius, trying not to chuckle and failing.
Still, Lukas had to remember that there was something looming as he said, “ If you will have me I would love to be with you. Although I am a bit concerned with what is happening. Do you want to talk about it?’
Cassius couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh as Lukas pointed out his babbling of both happy and sad. “I felt that I had to. Because if I only talked about the sad part, you’d probably get it through your head that I’d walk away from you.” He held up a finger, a pointed look on his face. “Which I won’t be doing unless you ask me to do so.”
Upon realizing the word he had chosen to use, Cassius shook his head. “I mean date. You don’t want to court me. That includes a chaperone.” He shuddered at the thought, then shook his head again. “I may miss the period I grew up in, but I wouldn’t like to go back to it.” Still, his face lit up at Lukas agreeing. “Don’t google it. You’ll be bored to tears about Victorian high society's strange marriage rituals.” He made a face and waved his hands around as he spoke. “No, we’ll stick to the present day.” He decided with a nudge of Lukas’s shoulder.
Smile fading as Lukas asked if he wanted to talk about it, Cassius shook his head. “I’m not sure there’s anything to say, really.” He decided aloud, realizing that he may be acting a bit too harsh to the whole event that had unfolded with Sofie. “She’s not the same. Something… happened to her. When she hit me, I no longer felt anything for her except pity and disappointment.” He let out a weary sigh as they continued walking. The more he thought about Sofie, the less he wanted to see her again. He knew she needed someone to talk to, but that person wasn’t him. Not anymore.
“Just be careful if you run into her,” Cassius spoke, gaze flitting over to Lukas’s for a brief moment, expression worried. “I’d hate for something to happen to you on my behalf.” He admitted as he brushed the hair out of his face. “I mean, in the spirit of openness, I suppose there are other things I should tell you about my life, but that can wait.” He thought of the home he now occupied with Richard in it, an elder vampire that he once loved. That was complicated, too. One problem at a time, he decided.
Lukas raised his eyebrows, at that the other vampire clearly at least somewhat amused by his reaction.  At the idea though he shook his head and said, “That is a fair assessment. I don’t want you to leave.” It was a startling realization to Lukas, that he had gotten that attached to the other. He knew it, deep down he had thought of Cassius more often than he care to admit - pushed things around so he could see the other - but knowing it starkly was a different experience.
He had always tried to not get attached to individuals, the last time he had even a little he had ended up a vampire. Still, it was probably one of the most human instincts, to find people and to be attached. He didn’t hold the fear he normally did getting close to others, but he wasn’t sure how to express that.
Lukas couldn’t help but chuckle, a smile crossing his face as the other realized what he said. “Oh? I suppose I don’t count as a chaperone anymore,” Lukas pointed out, remembering times he had to watch over ‘single’ gatherings - he couldn’t remember what they were called and didn’t particularly care for them. At the continuation he continued to laugh and said, “We don’t have to. Sorry for teasing you, it was just too easy to do. How about we just agree to date, yes?”
He nodded letting Cassius’s speak about the other, wanting to make it better and not knowing how too. While Lukas had a lot of experience with interpersonal relationships - he’d never experienced heartbreak like this. He wasn’t sure what he should do, only that he wouldn’t move away from Cassius - not if he wanted him there. He wanted to feel pity, and he probably did for the other, but he also felt more sadness for the man in front of him knowing the pain of getting hit by someone he trusted. “May I look? I’m sure it’s healed but - she shouldn’t have done that to you. No matter how angry or upset. I am sorry she was upset, but that was not okay.” His hand reached out, waiting for permission to touch Cassius and going slow enough for the other to catch what he was doing.
At the idea that the other would be a danger to himself Lukas shrugged and said softly, “I won’t do anything to antagonize her, and I am sure I will be fine. Don’t worry.” He was also sure his own Sire wouldn’t be all too happy if he was hurt. Well, at least by someone other than her. If the vampire wasn’t careful, she would get hurt herself - something that he hoped wouldn’t happen.
At the idea of other things being there, and that they would talk about them later Lukas nodded giving a gentle smile. “That would be okay. I’m sure there are other things I should tell you myself, but I don’t think anything so pressing we have to worry about it tonight. I am here, though, if you want to talk.”
Cassius smiled as Lukas spoke, but the smile didn’t quite reach his eyes. It was as if he were somewhere else. He inhaled sharply, suddenly snapping back to reality. “The last thing I need is to relive the glory days of being chaperoned by someone in Victorian high society. My mother sent me on one date with someone of higher status, and I felt watched the entire time. It was a horrible experience. I regret ever suggesting it.” He shuddered, mostly because he was able to scrounge up such old memories from his past.
“I’ll have to hear more about your priest days, I’m utterly fascinated.” He added, nudging him playfully. “I’m sure you were hit on all the time. I’ve always fancied a man in uniform.” Cassius rolled his eyes at himself, chuckling. “Sorry, I forgot myself.” He quickly spoke, running his tongue over his teeth as he struggled to recover from his blatant flirting. He still wasn’t sure how Lukas felt about it.
It wasn’t the first time that Cassius had been touched by something Lukas had said to him, but he found himself struck dumb by the request to check out where he had been hit. Instead of words, which he was usually good at, he nodded his head, blue eyes searching Lukas’s. “I–I mean.” he was absolutely at a loss for words. “It’s healed, I’ll be alright, but.” He shrugged a shoulder. Suddenly it was his turn to be flustered.
“My relationship with her is but a memory in the past.” He spoke, much more serious now. “Do I feel bad for how it ended? Absolutely. But I also didn’t think she was ever going to come back. She’ll collect her things, and that will be the end of it. Hopefully, she causes no trouble, and it’ll all be over.” He rolled his eyes, annoyed at the thought of the exchange. “I’ll probably make Richard do it for me.” He decided aloud. “Oh, Richard is my sire, by the way. Long story that is honestly a discussion for another time.” He frowned, hating that he was now surrounded by his exes when all he wanted to do was move on with his life. “A very long story.” He grumbled to himself after thinking about Richard longer.
“But enough of that!” Cassius announced, taking Lukas’s hand once more with a pleasant smile. “I’ve had my moment wallowing about it, I’m quite happy now.” He gave a soft smile, squeezing Lukas’s hand. “With you. With my life, with all of it. If I have to deal with her another time, I will. But all I truly care about is that she doesn’t go off the deep end and cause harm to you.”
Lukas chuckled, and shook his head a little, a smile still dancing in his eyes as he said, “No I don’t think we have to do that. Besides, I think I’m perfectly able to be a proper gentleman to you if you want. No need to worry about your honor. It was cute to say though.”
Lukas raised an eyebrow and said, “Oh? You want to hear some sermons? Perhaps talk theology.” While he feigned a serious look he couldn’t help the smile that cracked over his features. “Although if you just find the button up hot I don’t mind wearing collared shirts around you.” He shook his head with a chuckle saying softly, “You’re fine Cassius. You are allowed to flirt with me.”
His gaze turned lightly serious as he finished reaching out, touching the part of Cassius’s cheek that he had been rubbing. Gently he looked closer checking to see if it was okay tilting Cassius’s face to see. Without much thought he leaned in and pressed his lips to the area softly before leaning back, a gesture more so meaning comfort than anything else . Realizing what he had done he blinked and said, “Oh - I’m sorry. I should have asked. I guess - you know, kissing injuries for healing.”
Clearing his throat, Lukas moved back slightly giving Cassius back his space as he spoke. Nodding lightly he said, “Probably for the best if she was that upset. I - have to admit I don’t like that she hurt you, and it might be for the best to not be alone with her for awhile. - Yes I did gather that from our first date actually.” He also knew that perhaps his relationship to Richard was complicated. It wasn’t something Lukas really wanted to press instead letting the subject go. After all, it wasn’t anything that would dictate their relationship.
At the idea that Cassius was happy Lukas’s smile softened taking his hand and fighting the urge to press a kiss to it. Instead he nodded and said, “I’m glad. I don’t think it’s a worry you need to have, Love. Just let me know if you need my help with any of it.”
Cassius let out a snort of laughter at the idea of listening to Lukas give him sermons. “While I’m not really the religious sort, I’m willing to listen to you talk about anything you’re passionate about.” His smile went from amused to genuine as he spoke, back to amused as soon as he was given permission to flirt. “You’ll regret giving me permission,” he warned as he wagged a finger in Lukas’s direction. “You already know what I’m capable of.”
The older vampire’s eyebrows raised as Lukas pressed a kiss to his cheek. “You don’t need to ask,” Cassius spoke in a low voice, pulling Lukas closer to him. For a moment, all he wanted to do was kiss him. Frozen in place, he glanced down at the younger man’s lips before forcing himself to open his mouth to speak. “I would very much like to kiss you now.” He announced, extending the courtesy that Lukas wanted to with him. His smile had faded and was replaced by a silent plea that he desperately wanted answered. He was lost in his own head, suddenly wondering what the world could possibly be like without Lukas in it.
Lukas hummed at the thought a laugh still on the corner of his mouth at the idea. “I would have probably gotten distracted if you were sitting in the audience. Besides, I’m not very - assured by religion as of late. I don’t know if I would find it interesting enough to talk if you were there.” He chuckled and said, “Do your worst, I fear I won’t learn a lesson otherwise. Besides, I think it’s lovely.”
Lukas let the Cassius pull him closer, not particularly keen on moving away anyway. He would have said he should have, the move wasn’t what he had asked permission for but there wasn’t much room in his head for those kinds of thoughts. His eyes widened slightly, realizing how close they were again and wondering if Cassius was going to want him to back away again.
He would do it. He swore he would if needed, but at Cassius’s voice he didn’t hesitate carefully tilting the other’s face before pressing his lips to his not confirming anything. It was a gentle kiss, brief and not meant to impose but more so to answer the implicit question quicker than Lukas’s words could have. Still, after a moment he moved slightly away to say softly, “You don’t have to ask, Cassius.” There was a slight smile on his lips, as he took his hand down seeing what the other would do. Always a little curious about his reaction.
Lukas had kissed him, and at that moment time stopped. When Lukas shuffled back a step, Cassius got back into his space and kissed him again, this time there was more behind it. He pressed a hand against Lukas’s back to pull him closer, holding their bodies against each other for a long moment before pulling away. There was a soft smile playing across Cassius’s features, and then he finally took a step back.
“I believe we both have questions for each other if I remember correctly.” He said coyly. “Have you thought of anything?” He gripped Lukas’s hand again and pulled him across the street toward the Common. “I do have a question, but I so would hate to spoil the mood.” He decided. “I don’t have any clever questions that would make even a vampire blush, I’m afraid. I’ll have to keep thinking.”
As they walked into the center of the common, gestured towards a bench. “I want to know everything about you.” Cassius decided, taking Lukas’s hands in his once they were seated. “I want to know all of your hobbies, your favorite book, something that makes you smile, something that makes you frown. I want to know all the little things that make you, well, you.”
The smile faded when he thought back to all the things his past held. “I want to know how you became a vampire, I want to know about your family from when you were alive. I want to know who your family is now.” Cassius frowned, deciding he should extend the same courtesy. “I can tell you about myself in turn. All of it, if you’d like. About my family, my sire, the life I lived with him, all of it. I’m an open book with you.”
Lukas hadn’t expected to be pulled back into Cassius, but he had relaxed into the touch, his arms going to go around the other’s shoulders. It felt natural and for a moment the anxious feeling of the night - both the good and bad fell away as he just noticed Cassius. Even so, Lukas let him pull away trying not to look as dazed as he was as he tried to follow along.
It really was strange how easily Cassius seemed to catch him off guard. He should have been weary of that, but instead it felt nice. At the idea of questions he couldn’t help but chuckle and say, “If I did I don’t remember them at the moment. You’ll have to ask me later,” He said giving into the urge to kiss Cassius’s hand that was now solidly back into his. “I’m afraid you’ve stunned me again. Feel free to ask yours. Perhaps I’d finally find ground again. Also, trust me, if I could you would know. ”
Lukas followed sitting on the bench that Cassius decided on letting the other keep his hand and listening at what he wanted to know with a chuckle. “Sure. Would you like me to tell you now? I’m rather curious about your answers as well.”
At the idea of his own past, Lukas could feel the creeping burning just outside of the happy moment. A giggling laugh and the scars he could feel on his hands that were now intertwined with Cassius’s. He almost dropped his hand, frightened of staining his, his own shaking now willing himself to not. Maybe he would reject Lukas after he knew everything, maybe showing his soul was as painful as it had been in confession, but if so it might be worth it.
It took him a moment to come back as he said softly, “ It’s not - a happy story I’m afraid. I’m also quite monstrous in bits of it. If you want to know it though, I will tell you. I told you I will be honest with you, and that did mean brutally. ” Lukas’s eyes went to Cassius, deciding at that moment he wouldn’t hide. After all, if he was asking to be understood he had to also be known. “I want to be known by you. So anything you want to know I will tell you. Even if it means you think less of me. You can tell me anything you would like, I would like to know you.”
Crossing one leg over the other as he lounged back on the bench, Cassius lifted his eyes skyward as he thought momentarily. “I suppose I asked more than one question, but I’ll take whichever one you choose to answer.” He spoke, watching as Lukas leaned down to kiss his hand. His brows then knitted together as he thought about what the man said about him stunning him. “That’s not a bad thing, is it?” He asked as fear creeping up like bile took its hold. The last thing he wanted was for anyone to see him as too much. Especially someone he truly cared about.
He watched as Lukas’s hand began to shake, and Cassius squeezed it tight to let him know that he was still there and wasn’t planning on letting go. “I don’t think many vampires have happy stories surrounding becoming a monster.” He muttered, shaking his head with a frown. “If you would like me to go first, I could.” He tilted his head to the side, watching Lukas’s facial expressions. “Whatever you’ve done, whatever you think you’ve become. You’re so much more than the past you think defines you.”
“It would take a lot for me to think less of you, Lukas,” Cassius spoke as he placed a hand under the other’s chin. “I mean that. Nothing you say can drive me away.” He placed a gentle kiss on his forehead, then pulled himself back. “Whatever you want to tell me, that’s fine. If you don’t want to tell me, that’s also fine. I can wait.”
“Well, my favorite book as a kid was Swiss Family Robinson. I liked it when my dad would read it to me, and he said it was what helped him learn English,” Lukas said fond of the memory. At the question he looked at Cassius and continued, “No. It’s not bad at all. I just need to know where to begin. Afterall, I’ve lived at least a little while. There’s probably more of me I don’t even remember.” It was gentle, the words he said, but they were true.
Still, he was a little embarrassed how his hands shook, and how the other vampire seemed to notice it. “Ah - perhaps so. I would hope some of us weren’t changed badly, but you may be right that all of us were.” Still he pushed on shaking his head, “Love, if you give me an out, I am a coward enough to take it.”
It was true, he could even feel himself trying not to mention his Sire in his own thoughts let alone out loud. He didn’t want to talk about the church - or the smoke that seemed to fill most of his memories. Still, he wanted to be known. What an awful bit of irony as he caught Cassius’s eyes again, a gentle kiss on his forehead as he sighed a little letting it go.
“Lets not tonight then. I’d rather it be a - well complicated but happy one. We’ve got an awful lot of time to know things about the other,” Lukas said with a smile, feeling a bit like the coward he had already called himself. Still, maybe that was fine for the night.
Cassius’s smile to Lukas was soft but sad. He supposed he was one of the lucky ones. He had escaped near death and found a new life in it. Some were forced into vampirism. He couldn’t help but wonder if Lukas was one of the unlucky ones. “I can’t say I’ve read that one,” he spoke in reference to the book. “You’ll have to tell me about it sometime.” His voice was gentle, as if he were afraid the moment would end if he spoke too loudly. “Not tonight, then. You aren’t cowardly for not being able to talk about it.”
After a beat of silence, he adjusted Cassius adjusted his posture. “Then consider yourself well and truly taken, Lukas Zabek.” He decided with a wink in an attempt to lighten the mood. “That means dealing with all the nonsense that comes with dating an over two-hundred-year-old vampire with about that many years of poetry under his belt. You’ll never be safe from my waxing poetics, not from me.” For a brief moment, Cassius wished there was a way to make the pain in Lukas’s eyes go away, but he knew that wasn’t for him to do. It was only for him to accept and comfort the man through. There was a kindness to Cassius’s gaze as he opened his mouth to speak.  “There’s all the time in the world to learn about each other,” he insisted with a smile. “After all, we have all the time in the world to get to know each other, now don’t we?”

Welcome my loves
This blog is dedicated for my story Divine Devotion, a Castiel fanfic, and for Castiel fics in general. There will be smut so under 17 dni with those posts. This account is primarily for Castiel fanfic and Supernatural but I will probably post the occasional ask games to interact with my followers and moots. Further information will be below the cut, please read.
About Me
My name is Cassius and I'm 18 years old. I am a huge lover of Castiel, Misha Collins in general, and celestial beings. I especially love angels and demons. My stories will contain some extreme topics so if you do not like paraphilias and extreme kink do not interact and do not read my smut. I will divulge into that in the themes for my story and fics in the next paragraph. No hate will be tolerated whatsoever so do not come here on my blog spewing it. I will not respect you if you do not respect me. I do not mind asks and moots, I would love them in fact. I hope to make friends within the Supernatural fandom, if you want to know more about me feel free to ask through asks! ^-^ My Wattpad account is Celestial_Lover which is where my story, Divine Devotion, has been and will be originally uploaded. I could not use the same username since someone else has already taken "Celestial_Lover" here on tumblr. I will probably post more frequently here on tumblr than I will on wattpad.
About My Writing
I, as obviously stated before, will only be writing for Castiel, maybe even Jimmy Novak occasionally. EVERYTHING will be x my OC, if you do not like that then do not read my writing. Due to everything being x my OC I do not know if I'll be taking requests but as of right now I will not be so DO NOT send any requests in. They will be ignored and deleted. Please do not hound me about when I will be releasing the next chapter as I have a job and am unmedicated for adhd, it is hard for me to focus/find the time at times. I have a life outside of tumblr so I will not always be posting chapters or fics regularly. I am fictosexual / a fictophile and have a parasocial relationship with Castiel. I love him deeply, truly and intimately, he means the world to me. He's my Celestial Doll.
As for the themes in my story and fics, anything and everything practically. I will be writing smut, romance, fluff, angst, crack, kink, etc. The kinks will more than likely be on the more taboo side and I will also be writing about paraphilias as well. With this in mind, anyone under the age of 17 DO NOT INTERACT, I know I cannot control what you chose to do but I have stated it here and I will on every post that has smut for anyone under the age of 17 to dni. I can't think of anything else at the moment for my writing or content warnings ahead of time but I will add themes and content/trigger warnings to every chapter and fic I post. They will always be at the beginning of the post so you will not be able to miss it unless you purposely chose to ignore it.
With it in mind that I will be writing about paraphilias, DO NOT INTERACT if you are anti para and anti kink. I will not tolerate it. As I have tons of paraphilias myself.
My Supernatural OC
Her name is Cassius Marie Winchester and she is 19 years old. She is 5'2 with green eyes and dirty blonde hair to the top of her shoulders, with a chubby body build. She has a tom boy style and takes after both Sam and Dean, Sam's smart, book worm, history buff side with Dean's attitude, sass and chaos. She likes reading, 80s rock, history and PIE. Her hyperfixation/obsession/quirk are angels and she loves them as well. She is always snacking on candy, and snacking in general, and reading. She has bad anger issues, Intermittent Explosive Disorder, and her love interest is Castiel. She is Sam and Dean's younger sister, as she is also their half-sister; they all share the same father but have different mothers. She is a very deep, true lover and comes off as "crazy" due to her possessive and obsessive tendencies. Like the two boys she has abandonment and daddy issues, Cassius also has Good Girl Syndrome and BPD, in short she has mental health issues along with self harm and alcohol issues.
To know more about her, stay tuned and read the story and fics
I will not be posting links so if you want to find stuff for my story look up "Divine Devotion Chapter *whatever number you're looking for*" on my blog and it will pop up. For fics it will probably be similar just with the title of the fic instead, I am not sure yet. In short, I will be tagging my story chapter by chapter with the story name in the tags and I will probably be doing the same for fics. If you want to find something just look it up through the search on my blog.

Tumblr media

one thing dante had learned early on in his life - you could get away with a lot of things when you were pretty; overtly having too large of an ego being one - so he had never bothered to learn to keep his under wraps, he had only learned to offset it with enough of him being cute, or sweet, or intelligent that people seemed to not notice, "can't be inflated anymore, but you could give it a shot anyways. would love to see you try." his eyes shift down as he speaks, teeth digging into his bottom lip as they flick back up to look up at cas through his lashes, "i want that - don't you care about what i want?" he really leans into it now, bottom lip jutting out into a subtle pout, fingers curling into the front of cas' shirt, "tell me what you think my face can do." he wished his voice didn't give him away so much, wished that he wasn't practically begging to be told. dante seemed to be split down the middle, two conflicting sides of his personality in all aspects. one half didn't care, the other cared too much; one was confident to the point of being cocky, the other needed constant external validation to maintain it; one side needing to not care about people, the other leaving him desperate for attention. too willingly, he allows himself to be tugged forward, one leg swinging over cas' lap so that he straddled him, facing him, "careful what you wish for," his voice drops, sounds distant and distracted as his head tips forward, lips finding their way to cas' neck, leaving open mouthed messy kisses as he trails up to his jaw, only stopping to pull back, gaze inspecting cas' eyes for a moment until his lips curl into a soft smile as his head dips back down until their lips connect, heavy, murmured words muffled into the kiss, "better than a movie?"

cassius shakes his head, the corner of his mouth lifting. he's certain he could list a lot of things dante's face could do, many things it could make cas do, but he's not about to reveal all just yet. " there's plenty of time for compliment's dante, giving you them all at once may just inflate that ego of yours a little too much. " the others confidence is attractive, pulls him in. " wouldn't want that, would we ? " it wasn't his intention for the night to go like this -- or, well, it was. just not so soon. but now that they've kissed once, it feels like their attention would be wasted on trying to pretend there was any interest in anything else. cas is pretty sure any plotline of a movie would seize to exist in his brain, the other males lips the only thing he seems able to think about. and so when the option of food first is pushed aside, he's glad. " yeah ? " a brow quirks, soft smirk beginning to form as he sinks back against the sofa, one tattooed hand reaching out, finger wrapping around the other males wrist. " come get me then, " he insists, eyes darkening with a hazy lust, tone low but demanding as he tugs on dante's wrist.
