[A video. There are the sounds of cutlery against plates and some conversation, mostly in Culaic but in some Unovan. A hot, steaming mug of coffee lies on a cheap folding table. Caoimhe whispers "Coffee."

They pull the phone camera up to reveal the rest of the large rangers' tent, with several rangers sitting at folding tables, or on the ground, with food and cans of coffee and energy drinks. The only light source is an electric lantern hanging from the ceiling of the tent. Some of them wave at the camera with tired smiles. Some say hello. People who are into the nature side of MewTube may recognize one of the rangers chugging iced coffee as Ranger Natalie Paprika, who posts nature videos and ranger videos on her small channel.

Someone asks a question in Culaic ("Wait, is recording allowed?"), to which Caoimhe responds with a wave of their hand, "Yeah, I didn't show them anything outside."

The camera tilts downward. A Pikachu with a little backpack looks up at the lens with an almost accusatory look. Caoimhe's hand waves at the creature. "Hey there, Ticket."

"Pika."

"Yeah. I know. I didn't show them anything important."

Ticket runs off. The video ends.]

This is a picture I made for @zponds. Here’s Zachery with three of his childhood friends of the (original show) Blue’s Clues crew; Paprika, Periwinkle, and Sidetable Drawer. Little Paprika is on Zachery’s shoulder, and Periwinkle, being a cat, sticks close to Zachery like how Pikachu does with Ash, and Sidetable Drawer has the iconic telephone for Zachery to use to call his friends and family for whenever his iPhone is charging. Paprika, Periwinkle and Sidetable are greatful that they and the rest of the (original show) Blue’s Clues crew are Zachery’s longtime close childhood friends as Zachery has loved the original Blue’s Clues show for many years.

The Anime Chef Cookbook by Nadine Estero

Nadine Estero’s The Anime Chef Cookbook is a fun, delicious, and colourful collection of recipes. I love the book’s quirky design and awesome anime-style illustrations. I also enjoyed the diverse range of unique and fascinating recipes. However, this book is definitely not for beginners as the recipes are complicated and require some cooking skill.

This book comprises 75 recipes covering chapters on Appetizers, Mains, Desserts, and Drinks. There’s also a helpful pantry essentials section titled The Anime Kitchen listing the essential tools (things like chopsticks) while important ingredients include dashi powder (a bonito and kelp flavoured instant soup stock), matcha powder, and sweet rice flour.

There is a wonderful range of both traditional and unique savoury and sweet dishes. I definitely appreciate Estero’s focus on creating visually cute or stunning food with innovative flavours. Appetizers include After-Practice Nikuman (fluffy pork buns), the interesting Tuna Meatballs in Orange Sauce, and the fascinating Paprika Seafood Caesar Salad. Memorable mains include the decadent Lobster and Shrimp Risotto, a traditional Spinach Cheese Quiche, and the adorable and novel Pikachu Curry made with apple vegetable curry and an edible seaweed and cheese Pikachu decoration! You can make delicious desserts like Kero’s Purin (Japanese custard pudding), the too cute to eat Panda Shaved Ice Parfait, and Kiki’s Chocolate Cake. Decadent drinks include Hot Buttered Rum Cow, and Senku Cola (livened up with cilantro!). You can even learn to make your own cute towering Totoro Latte Art!

The recipes are clearly-detailed and easy-to-follow. Most of the ingredients are fairly accessible and moderately inexpensive although there are some specialty ingredients like squid tentacles, Japanese karashi mustard, and Kewpie Mayo. I like that Estero often offers accessible swaps. Each recipe begins with a brief write-up about the inspiration and background of the dish as well as tasting notes and tips. I really liked learning about the different animes. I also liked the various related anime quotes sprinkled throughout. However, many of the recipes are time and labour-intensive and have many steps and many ingredients. Several dishes also require in-depth knowledge of cooking techniques. Therefore, this book may be more suited for those with some kitchen experience.

I love the book’s fun and colourful design! It’s so vibrant, eyecatching, and more importantly, so unique! The pages are bright and nicely-coloured which definitely suits the fun atmosphere of the book. I also really love that almost every recipe has an anime-style illustration of the dish. This is such a fantastic and novel idea and it really makes the recipes that much more memorable.

03: Do you regret anything?

as our bicon Magnus Bane said, regret is such a pointless emotion. sadly I'm no Magnus Bane, so yeah, I have regrets. some of them I made peace with, knowing I did the best I could with the information and resources I had at the time. other times I simply fucked up and I was wrong and I should have tried to make up for it to the person but I didn't.

08: Played any sports?

sports and me don't mix well, to say the least. but I did try a few. I played table tennis in elementary school, tried handball in high school, and also in high school played volleyball. volleyball was my favourite, I was sad when I had to quit.

09: Do you bite your nails?

not anymore! I used to a lot when I was a kid. for some reason my grandma took it personally and wanted to try all sorts of stuff to make me stop, including but not limited to: bad tasting nail polish, verbal discouragement, or dipping my fingers in paprika. thankfully my mom said wtf and did none of these. she said I'll grow out of it. (side note: one of my classmates bit his nails too, and his parents did try these things. it was terrible to watch him those months. I'm so glad my mom knew better.) and eventually I did grow out of it. idk what made me decide it, but at one point started stopping myself from biting my nails and after a while it worked. not long after that I got really into painting my nails and thanks to that I never got back into this habit.

24: What is/are/were your best subject(s)?

okay, don't come for me here, but Maths. it's always been my favourite. I mentioned it before on my blog a few times that I was (still am) the kind of person who took AP Maths classes for fun. close second and third are, in a callback to our conversation from earlier today, English: the language as a non-native English speaker, and English: as the Americans do it aka Literature.
