Questions to ask myself:
What do I want to have achieved by the end of the summer?
Let's see.... A lot of money invested into my filmmaking equipment to make several horror films and stories before the world ends; a lot of photoshoots, and I'm talking pin-up, 1950's inspired photoshoots, horror inspired shoots... Getting back into modeling entirely. Specifically with a great expensive photographer, ideally the one I worked with on that music cover album a while back.
Not to mention successfully making connections for a good online talk show, modeling, making short films with other actors and actresses, and overall going to galas and fun luxury events!
I want ideally 8 beautiful high quality portraits done of myself that are unique and awe-inspiring that I have to show off to my future generations to come, a few solid flings that set me up for life, and some amazing connections indeed!
And a lot of completed scripts that are in my hands AND grant me all the benefits I desire! And a few reels, acting AND producing and directing all under my belt!
What gifts do I want this summer?
Tennis necklace. Tennis bracelet. Sapphire earrings. Emerald ring and matching earrings. Frankly, a nice collection of any sort of expensive gemstones I like, any time, always.
An expensive and exquisite car, specifically a low rider car, but that's if I am also taught to drive! Specifically one that looks like a sexier version of a 1950's convertible.
An entire film set and studio in my name, in the exact image and ideal way. Plenty of expensive film cameras, high end microphones, lighting and more, and money to invest in all the films I want to produce for myself and have my portfolio jumpstarted.
Not to mention any subscriptions to things like Costco, any high end vitamins and food programs, DoorDash, and a consistent natural hairstylist who knows how to handle african 4c hair. I want luscious hair regardless of the texture, long and healthy!
Well paid, fridge full, having a grand ol' time with each other. Even a personal credit card, to buy as many things for myself in life as I would desire!
I have a music video concept? Consider the photographers and videographers met with and the outfits bought. I have a song? Consider the producers and mixers met with and scheduled into my system. i want to learn to sing or play piano? Here's my instructor, world reknown, and autistic, so he will be patient with me.
I want to know how it feels to have an exquisite shopping experience with a glass of champagne for free, and a nice shiny ring on my hand that I bought at a store and can 1000% enjoy for life.
And if I really wanted to go insane if I had the money.... Rare items. Rare unique jewelry. Crossbred flowers and succulents, and crossbred fruit trees. Show me you love me, make an apple and mango crossbreed that I can have for years and enjoy sustenance off of.
Any social scenes I wish to join, and what for?
Filmmaking networking scenes. I am meeting celebrities and having a fun time as a socialite who is praised for her intellect and wisdom around the film industry. Who can mentor and teach me things. I collaborate with them, and have a fantastic time bonding with them and enhancing scripts even more.
Also collaborating with high profile musicians, who also help me and my friends produce music together and get more well connected in the industry. Event makers, to actually make my city a lot more together, and throw events that raise money for the local schools and the underground art scene to help people flourish. Also befriending other luxury young women with girlfriends could be very nice! The goal getters, the high achievers, the ones who strive for the most out of life, always!
Always!
How would I look with the dates I have?
Vivaciously sexy; either long beautiful braids, or a nice Pamela Anderson style wig. Think of Megan thee Stallion's current wig for her tour, for context. But if I wanna spice it up, a colored white or pink wig if I meet a man in the wild who wants to strike up conversation could be fun. There's always someone looking for a dream girl.
I would go for a siren look. Yet, clean girl. Clear beautiful healthy shiny skin, that's borderline reflective as a Hajime Sorayama painting, and full colorful yet natural glossy tinter lips, with eye catching eyes. An amazing pin-up figure that makes jaws drop, but enough to cover it and look effortlessly good. Loose enough to show I'm a lady, but tight enough to show I'm a woman.
Not trying to seem overly conservative or classy, but not trying to make people think I'm an escort. The perfect fashion balance of someone with money and confidence who walks into any room, in any outfit, and looks exquisite either way.
All of this is claimed to be mine this summer, and so it shall be.
It is all mine, always and forever, god bless and amen.

Methods of Divination in Hoodoo
While divination methods vary from practitioner to practioner, family to family, and region to region, there are some common threads when it comes to divination tools/methods in Hoodoo. This is by no means meant to serve as an exhaustive list.
Reminder: Hoodoo is for BLACK PEOPLE ONLY
BONES: “Throwin’ Bones” is a common Hoodoo divination method. A bone set consists of not only ritually collected animal bones, but sometimes shells, jewelry, small family heirlooms, coins, dice, other animal parts, etc. The bones are thrown and depending on where/how they land, an answer or message is determined. Bone divination existed in many ancient cultures all over the world, including cultures of the African continent, and enslaved African preserved this practice in the New World.
DICE: Divination with dice on their own is also common in Hoodoo. Most practicioners use a combination of numerology and intuition to decipher the message. Various groups of ancient Africans developed complex numerical systems and systems of numerical divination that they brought with them to the New World.
PLAYING CARDS: Many ancient civilizations, including societies all over Africa, had some form of cards for playing games as well as divination. Enslaved African people from various groups brought with them the knowledge of and philosophies about cards. When they arrived in the New World, only Western Style playing cards were available to them. Hoodoos and other Black cartomancers used intuition, ancestor contact, and African derived numerology to determine messages using playing cards.
***A Word About Tarot*** While many Hoodoo practioners are also skilled and successful tarot readers, tarot is NOT a part of traditional, authentic Hoodoo. It’s totally fine for Hoodoos to use tarot, but it should be noted that tarot is a separate practice, not to be conflated with Hoodoo. HOWEVER, it should be noted that the art on the deck known as the traditional Rider-Waite tarot deck was drawn by a biracial Black woman, Pamela Coleman Smith. This fact is often erased in contemporary tarot discourse. As such, it is now commonplace among Black spiritualists to refer to the traditional tarot deck as the Rider-Waite-Smith deck. Smith also illustrated several books of Jamaican and African folklore, if y’all wanna check that out.
DREAMS: Many Hoodoos use dreams or dream like trances to divine answers and seek ancestral guidance. Some have the gift of prophetic dreaming, others the gift of dream interpretation. Enslaved Africans brought with them their own folklore and omens to decipher the meaning of dreams. We all know it’s common among Black folks for your mom or grandma to have a dream about some fish, and that means somebody in the family is pregnant. They’re rarely ever wrong LOL.
COINS: Similar to throwing bones, it is also common in Hoodoo for a set number of coins to be thrown, and a message or answer determined by where and/or how the coins fall.

so Dean owns an apple orchard.
his property is pretty big, big enough to fit his precious orchard, a modest little house for himself, Sam, and Eileen, and a converted barn with a front porch he installed himself that he uses as his business front. the barn doors are always open, and there's a wall full of fridges filled with jugs of his apple cider and frozen premade pastries and pies, ready to get popped in the oven. there's a whole bakery case dedicated to the pies he bakes daily, all kinds of flavors made with home grown berries and apples. there's another bakery case for the rest of the pastries he makes, the fritters and turnovers and cookies and everything. the rest of the barn is filled with little displays for crafts. Dean likes to whittle and carve in his free time, and if he makes something he likes enough he'll pop an affordable price tag on it and stick it on one of the shelves. Eileen has decided to sell some of her handpainted signs and those weird little apple core dolls she likes to make. she and Sam like to help out at the store, working behind the counters while Dean bakes or helps people with the apple picking tools.
Dean uses his apples to make his own apple pies, apple fritters, apple turnovers, even apple cookies when he's feeling it. he's attempted apple donuts as well, but those never turn out as delicious as the main orchard's do, so he doesn't do those often. he also presses his own fresh apple cider, and he keeps a giant igloo cooler full of it on the porch with a stack of paper cups next to it so people can taste test. there's a sign next to it that says "one cup per person" but he always turns a blind eye when the kids come back for seconds or thirds.
Dean's orchard is one that's included on the local map of orchards and farms that people go crazy over every fall and make the drive to visit for their yearly fix of all things apple and pumpkin. during the peak season he joins in on the festivities and lets some of his friends set up their craft stalls in the space in front of the barn. Claire sells funky colored candles she makes herself, Kaia sells hand made jewelry and beaded dreamcatchers. Pamela Barnes tells fortunes and sells tarot cards. Charlie hand dyes tie dye shirts and has the most colorful stand of them all.
every year people from all over flock to his orchard for his goodies and these booths, families strolling through the stalls, admiring the beautiful crafts before taking their sample of cider and then heading inside to buy a jug to take home, and a few apple pastries to boot. no one ever leaves without something. Sam and Eileen are good like that.
Jody and Donna love to visit Dean's orchard every season, and they'll stop by often in the off season as well. They have a place of their own up the road, and they quickly became close friends with the Winchester clan. Garth and his family are another set of regulars, they live in the area too, and they visit every season for their fall fill. His kids have a fondness for Eileen's apple core dolls.
one season brings a new face to the mix. Two new faces, actually.
Castiel and his four year old son, Jack. They visit the orchard, drawn in by the hand painted sign boasting apple picking that Sam staked in the front drive so passing cars could see.
that's something they do here, too. Apple picking. It's one of the most popular things about his orchard. Dean's got a wide array of those fancy apple picking sticks, you know the ones with the basket at the end that cradles the apple ad you just twist until it falls loose into the bottom of the basket. they hang from the side of the barn, and whenever someone shows interest in picking apples, Dean will take them there, pass everyone a stick and a bag and explain to them how to use the sticks and how to know which apples are ripe for the picking. then he points the groups to the little path into the orchard and sends them on their way. it's always a joy to see the groups when they come back, bags straining from their fill of apples, dirt smudged faces with huge grins and happy eyes.
on their first visit, Cas and Jack take their time walking through the craft stalls, and Jack points out every shiny thing and every pretty color. Cas buys him a tie dyed t-shirt and a pretty blue dreamcatcher. when Jack sees the apple cider cooler he practically drags Cas over and makes him pour them each a cup. Jack drinks his quickly, smacking his lips and letting out a loud "yummm". he tugs on Cas's coat and holds his cup out, tilting his head. "more?" he asks. and Cas points at the sign and tells Jack, "we're only supposed to have one each, Jack. maybe we can get some to take home, though." Jack lights up at that, but before they can head inside the barn, Dean is there and he's pouring another cup and sliding it over to Jack and holding a finger to his lips like it's some sort of secret, then he winks over at Cas. "you didn't hear it from me, but the sign's usually just a suggestion," he tells them. Cas chuckles, and before he can thank Dean for his kindness, Dean's jerking his chin towards the jug and dropping his eyes to Cas's empty cup. "go on,, fill 'er up. i know you want to," he says. Cas hesitates but then Dean waggles his eyebrows and Cas laughs again and fills his cup. "thank you, it's very good." "yeah?" Dean asks, grinning. his chest sort of puffs up a bit and he leans an elbow against the railing. "made it myself," he says casually. Cas's eyebrows shoot up and he's like "oh, wow, that's incredible. it really is amazing." and Dean's cheeks pink a little under the praise and he's like "well thanks, there's more inside if you want to take some home with you." (bc of course he's not going to miss an opportunity to pitch his product a little lol).
Cas and Jack head inside with Dean and they talk about the place a little more and the subject eventually circles to the apple picking, and Jack perks up at that, and Cas mentions that that's why they stopped here. and Dean grins and takes them to the side of the barn where the apple picking tools are, and he goes through his whole spiel, but Cas, poor guy, doesn't seem to understand how the apple picking stick works, so Dean offers to go with them and show him. and so Dean ends up heading into the orchard with them and he shows Cas how to use the stick, and he goes so gooey inside when Cas lights up when he successfully picks his first apple. and god, if he felt like that when Cas did, then when Jack picks his first apple, hoisted up by Cas, Dean positively melts. it's adorable.
they talk a lot while they pick apples, about anything and everything. getting to know each other, telling stories, laughing, smiling, having a good time.
when they finally head back to the barn, it's getting dark. Dean rings Cas's apples and cider and pastries (bc of course he goaded Cas into buying some of those, not that it was difficult) and Dean walks Cas and Jack back to their car because he doesn't want his time with them to end. and once Jack is buckled in, Cas stops next to Dean who's standing there with his hands in his pockets, and Cas just smiles softly at him and Dean goes "hope I see you around," and Cas grins and maybe steps forward to kiss his cheek real quick, and goes "you will" before getting in his truck and driving off.
and Dean does see Cas again. Cas and Jack become regulars at the orchard, coming back for more apples and more cider often. they like to hang around sometimes, too, and everyone with a craft stall there takes a liking to Jack too.
and maybe the end of the peak fall season is starting to come to a close, and Dean is worried that that means his seeing Cas will come to an end, too, but then he learns that Cas and Jack just moved into the area, so they're really here to stay, and peak season or not, they're not going anywhere. and Cas mentions something about maybe opening his own booth here next season to sell honey from his bees.
and come next peak season, Cas doesn't need his own booth because his honey sits on its very own display case inside the barn right next to his boyfriend's pastries.
(and the following peak season, Dean and Cas end up getting married right in the middle of the apple orchard with their family and friends surrounding them and jack throwing handfuls of apple blossoms.)

Eight of Disks. Art by Robin Scott, from The Urban Tarot.
Prudence
With the Seven, the story of our imaginary company had taken a fairly bad turn. The failures we had here at Disks Inc. and worried so much about in the Five had finally come to fruition. And with Failure had come the reminder that after failure, you get up, you recover, you learn. What have we learned? We have learned caution, certainly. We have learned to take our time and check our work thoroughly. We have learned to always have a plan in case things go wrong, because we know that sooner or later they will. We have learned to have patience enough to give our work the time and space it needs to come out right. We are wiser now that we have fallen and picked ourselves up again. We have learned Prudence.
My illustration for this card was distinctly inspired by Pamela Colman Smith’s image of the Eight of Pentacles for the Rider-Waite Tarot. In it, we see a man hard at work hammering a nail into one of the eight pentacles for some reason (I think the idea is that he’s engraving it? Maybe the thing is just broken?). Anyway, I found myself immediately thinking of a watch repair shop as my modern version. All of those round watch faces immediately seemed like a natural connection to the round disks, and those incredibly tiny little gears and springs require the most extraordinary patience and care to manipulate and repair. And again, there is the simple association with time, as this card is all about taking the proper time with your work.
I looked up a few different watch repair shops online, and then really lucked out with the first one I stumbled into—Daniel Watch & Jewelry Repair on Lexington. When I explained that I was there to gather reference for a piece about watch repair, they showed me around their shop, let me go behind the counter, and posed for me poring over their work. Although the finished piece describes something of an invented space, every element—all the various clocks and watches and such— comes from somewhere in their shop.

Another Idea: Eris meets Pamela Isley and asks her what she has to offer. Pamela states, "I once crashed a party of wealthy socialites by infecting them with a fungal poison that could only be cured by a liquid antidote I made and demanded they first give me their cash, checks, credit cards, and jewelry in order to get it from me." Eris nods approvingly and replies, "You. I like you."
Dumb Idea: Have Joker meet Eris, the goddess of discord, and be like, "Bitch, you think you know chaos? I AM chaos."
