Steve's Original Paleo Krunch Cereal!!!!
On Friday afternoon, I subscribed to WOD Talk magazine. I saw it in the bathroom at my CF gym and thought "Hey, why not?" (Boy, I must've really drank a lot of the punch...who am I!?) While I was killing time at work, I glanced through the last few issues digitally (an amazing feature that comes with your membership!) The advantage of looking at the magazine on a computer, phone or tablet is that it directly links you to any websites referenced in articles or ads. I read something about Paleo MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat) and so I found myself at the website (Steve's Original) filling up a shopping cart with samples and sauces. (YES, Paleo sauces!).
A lot of people have gone on to say that this is an expensive route to go and that you're better off making your own paleo meals, sauces and snacks. That might be true...but I tend to be extremely busy and when I'm not running around...I'm lazy. So so lazy. I have since ordered a lot of paleo ingredients (coconut oil, almond flour, coconut flour, flax seed meal, etc) so that I can make my own breads, bars, and other snacks and meals. But until I really have spare time... it can't hurt to try Steve's original.
I'm happy to say that it only took 2 days to receive everything. I ordered 2 bottles of sauce (Ginger Cilantro & Peachy BBQ..I tasted them and they're amazing), and 2 Sampler kits. Here's what is included in each sampler:
1 Original Large Paleokit (jerky, nuts, berries)
1 Grassfed small Paleokit (jerky, nuts, berries)
1 Original Paleo Krunch Bar
1 Paleo Krunch Original Flavor Cereal
1 Coconut Small Paleokit (jerky, coconut, strawberry)
My total was about 80 dollars with shipping, but once I saw how much food there was I didn't really mind it! I haven't had a chance to taste everything, but I'm SO EXCITED to say that I ate the cereal for breakfast. Cereal is probably one of my most missed foods since going Paleo. It's easy and delicious! But I gave up grain and dairy....so it went out the window. Now that I had Paleo Krunch cereal in the pantry and almond milk in the fridge I was set to go. I knew after the first bite that I was going to be placing an order as soon as I started running low. While it's not like traditional cereal, it's still SO freaking good. A bit thicker and stickier...it tends to cluster together. But it is sweet and delicious. A little goes a long way with this and I was immediately full. I'll probably put less in the bowl next time! I at that at about 7am this morning. It's now 10am, and I can't even think about eating my mid morning snack. This may just last me until lunch!
I'd definitely be interested in trying my hand at homemade Paleo cereal, but I don't know that I can get it as perfectly wonderful as Steve's! Though if you stick to the recommended serving size, there are about 5 meals per container. I can probably stretch 6 meals out of it because I'm pretty tiny and this is SO filling. It's 170.00 for 25 containers, 5-6 meals each. You could really work this out to be about 1.30 per meal. If you're the kind of person that grabs a coffee and a bagel on the way to work, or even just a cup of fruit while on-the-go...this is HEALTHY and CHEAP! :) I'm just excited to have my morning cereal back.
