#painting bugs

Finally getting back to painting. I've got a lot of nids dressed in sprue gray right now... but hey it means I've got plenty to keep me busy during hobby night :)

That said before I get going I'm trying to figure out how to base the big guys slightly more dynamically.

I've got *80* termagants I'm unlikely to ever need all of, so why not give them friends?

Gonna consult with the extrovert first to see if there's anything I should think about that I'm not but I think it'll be cute.

Aren't they beautiful? Is this not one of the prettiest cicadas you've ever seen. Specifically it is a swamp cicada (Neotibicen tibicen).

The blue-ish teal green is just absolutely enchanting. And lookit how cute those beady little eyes are💕✨

I'm practicing my backgrounds and I'm pretty happy with this one. :D The bugs were my favourite part.

I got a box of Seraphon for christmas!!

Me being me, I can't leave well enough alone and just pick a color scheme, nooo, I gotta do something more interesting. So I've painted these guys after Northern Skinks (or western skinks maybe.... anyway this guy:)

I had a blast painting em all. I could've done better, as everyone else kept telling me to learn glazing to get that nice transition on the tail, but I don't mind em as they stand, they look good.

For my own future reference: they're based in Wraithbone, the tan is Morghast (p sure i'll check later), the brown is actually Thondia, and the blue is... Celadon, I think, it's one of the contrast ones. Accents are the usual basic metals and Orkflesh I think is the green I used.

I still haven't played any games with them, and I haven't based them just yet - because I feel like experimenting I want them to be in a swamp or something similar, I think that would be cool.
