My friends and I found this beetle on our college campus, we think it's a female elephant beetle. The photos were all taken by my friend (photography_dex on instagram).

Go check him out.

Wanted to make different genus' of Megalons based on other types of rhino beetles.
First up Is an Elephant Beetle Megalon!
Tumblr media
They like pineapples 🥰
The fur and peach fuzz on its body gives em its golden color 🫡. It's definitely going to be the fluffiest and one of the largest Megalons.
Apparently, there was interest in potential military use for elephant beetles, by being able to control them... so I wonder if I can work that into this Megalon 🤔.

Fresh ceramic beetles! The stag beetle came out especially nice, I used a layer of red glaze underneath a layer of blue glaze and it made a cool mottled effect! Also, I have 2 elephant beetles now and they stack.

♡ SCARAB SUMMONERS DNI ♡
.°•*☆ My Anti-Scarab Flag Is Done!!! ☆*•°.
so if you dont already know about the scarab summoner flag i added that in too for education purposes,
Tumblr media
the colours represent the body wings and head of the scarab, the white scarab represents the scarab and the light and their union/love together and in my anti version i added a big red X in a circle to demonstrate that i dont support the light and the scarab nor those who summon the scarabs and support this behaviour

The last elephant beetle in my care ♥️
He took about 3 years to grow as a larvae, and unfortunately only lived a month as an adult.
I had 6 elephants in my care from that batch. 2 have pupated last year (2 years as larvae) and lived about 3~ months as adults. Unfortunately I only have the male from saved as the female was in a lay box (with unfortunately no eggs to show) and grew over with mold.
The last 3 unfortunately didnt make it. 1 died to a badly constructed pupa chamber and sustained incredible deformities that I have never quite seen before. The other two lived up to 3 years as larvae as well, however failed to make pupa chambers altogether and passed away despite my best efforts to help.
This guy at least grew a much more impressive horn than the last years male, which is quite interesting.

This is forced perspective but elephant beetles (Megasoma elephas, the species of rhinoceros beetle shown above) are still very big for beetles!
Here’s a male elephant beetle on an adult hand:

COLEOCTOBER DAY 6
It's the final day of coleoctober and we have this giant!
The Elephant Stag Beetle, Lucanus elaphus
Now you might be thinking, "ah yes, elaphus, for elephant!" BUT NO! Elaphus is Greek for deer, which is extremely fitting for this guy, yes? He really seems to be sporting some fancy antlers, which they similarly use to grapple with other males! These guys can be found in the woods of North America.
