This actually works with the rumour that they take in outcasts as well.

The idea that they are assimilated into the clan by literally painting themselves to look like each other. A common identity for the whole clan to share no matter what sub-species or past you hail from - they are all ash Na’vi to each other - United under one cultural identity.

Spider demonstrates a similar practice by painting himself blue so there may be something going on with that desire for acceptance but it has a hint to themes of ‘is what you want what you really need’.

my friends I have a theory that the ash people in Avatar 3 are actually blue like the rest of the Na'vi but rub ash on their skin as either a camouflage or ritual which makes them look grey/white.

My main o'c.Her name is Sela'u te Asheko Nera'ite.She is from a Tipani clan and she has a mate named Ikari and two kids.

Little back story

Ok so in short my girl was born with white hair and the Tsahik of the Tipani proclaimed her birth as a blessing to the clan since the Tsahik interpted Sela'u's hair color as a blessing from Eywa.Sela'u was tought like a tsakrem altho she wanted to see the land of pandora and is an adventoures spirit.So she diced to travel around like a nomad and meet different clan's and theyr culture's and tradtions.She learnd and saw a lot much joy and pain but eventuly her heart was quaght by her mate Ikari and she returned to her home in the Tipani clan where she will become a Tashik one day since she was claimed to be the most worthy of the role.
