What the Heck is This?

Genre: Middle Grade Comic Fantasy with Mystery Elements

Length: 53,000 words

TWs: parental emotional abuse, mild body horror.

Synopsis: When his hatred of cake uncovers a conspiracy and (mostly) saves him from a curse placed on his family, unconfident noble's son Arno joins forces with a pair of curse breakers known as the "Page Thieves" to thwart a conniving earl's plans.

Featuring:

-Found family! -1890s-based fantasy setting! -A fun magic system! -Cozy costal town with small mysteries to solve! -Several bizarre curses (and the weirdos who break them) -Absurd royal conspiracies! -Magical gadgets! -Heisting hijinks! -Lots of puns! -A frog tongue! -And a despicable chocolate cake.

What I’m looking for: Primarily comments on the setting and plot, as well as the characterization of the main characters. Notes on humor and entertainment factor also appreciated. Not looking for grammar notes at this time. Beta Reading Deadline: September 30th, 2024
