With the obvious exception of Jack Kirby, no other Marvel Comics artist defined the look of as many major characters as GENE COLAN (1926-2011) did during The Silver Age of Comics (1956-70)! When Marvel gave Iron Man to Colan in 1966, he commented after, ”I wanted the reader to feel his emotion at times, not just be a metal figure always looking the same. So I took some poetic license. I tried to be very subtle with it, add a little humanity to the face.” The blind hero Daredevil blossomed under Colan’s stewardship, because he convincingly depicted the swashbuckling side of the character as well as his civilian alter ego of lawyer Matt Murdock. And Colan’s Dr. Strange stories, drawn in cinematic, chiaroscuro shadings, with panel layouts and compositions that wended and warped their way through the page, befitted the ectoplasmic, otherworldly dimensions they were set in, and are a testament to Colan’s atmospheric style, one of the most unique in the history of comic book art. Jupiter of Smyrna

Dated from the middle of the 2nd century AD, this statue was discovered in 1680 in Smyrna, present-day Izmir in Turkey, and sent to Louis XIV for Versailles. Garnier's addition of the lightning-wielding right arm around 1686 transforms the figure, possibly originally an Asclepius, into a Jupiter. The statue is currently conserved by the Louvre Museum in Paris. I made this statue from a free 3D model I found on the Internet. I reduced significantly the number of faces, built an UV map, normal map and textures.

I love Tumblr because when I was 8, or maybe 10, I was in the bath and I decided to suck the water off my shoulder - as you might if you regularly commit juvenille boredom - and later showed my mom the really weird bruise, and she made me cover it with makeup before my gymnastics performance, and it was suddenly very embarrassing to have this new "hickey" word, and even more terrifying to be audienced, and how else am I going to get that off my chest in my adult life?? By closing it in the torpid pages of a journal to fester? Weave it into conversation during carefully scheduled meets with friends??

i think. that the reason dave just kinda parrots everything and anything ar says. is because he’s really used to just, listening to what authority figures tell him, and trying to placate and/or appease them by saying and doing the things they expect
