Rose Lalonde, Dave Strider
Act 5, page 3036-3044
-- tentacleTherapist [TT] began pestering turntechGodhead [TG] --
TT: Hi there.
TG: nak nak nak
TT: Don't mind me.
TT: I'm just waiting for that guy on the pile of sharp objects to wake up.
TG: THE GLASSES ARE TALKING AGAIN
TG: naknaknaknaknaknaknaknaknaknaknaknaknaknak
TT: If you don't stop nakking, I will turn you into a thorn bush.
TG: :V
TG: :(
TG: hey
TG: what just happened
TT: You fell asleep.
TT: Orange Bird Dave killed some monsters and flew away.
TT: Jade fired a bullet at an imp and vanished.
TT: And you woke up.
TG: oh yeah
TG: so shes here then
TT: Yes.
TG: is she ok what was going on there
TT: Yes, she's fine.
TG: i guess i should catch up with her
TT: You already are.
TG: i am
TT: Future you is.
TG: oh ok time travels involved
TG: thats all you needed to say everythings cool and under control then
TT: How was the nap?
TG: weird
TG: and kind of boring
TG: i was in your dream room for a while spying on you
TG: being all creepy and dream duplicitous and shit
TT: It's ok.
TT: I was being similarly wake duplicitous.
TG: whats with your book collection
TG: or
TG: dream book collection
TG: all your books are bizarre and terrible
TT: No, my books are great.
TT: I can recommend some good titles for the next time you're asleep.
TG: nah
TG: but yeah i understand defending your collection i guess if you were in my dream room and talking shit about my awesome dream portraits of dream stiller and dream snoop or whatever wed have to have a fucking talk
TT: Did you do anything on the moon besides rifle through my belongings?
TT: Such as remove your shades and turn your gaze Ringward, by any chance?
TG: oh
TG: yeah
TG: i did
TT: What did you see?
TG: horrible things
TT: Horribleterrible?
TG: yeah
TG: it was like
TG: peering through the dark portal of an eldritch red lobster
TG: and scoping out its all you can eat seafood buffet
TG: and
TG: when i saw them
TG: their voices became clearer
TT: What were they saying?
TG: i couldnt really focus on anything specific
TG: but
TG: in totality
TG: im pretty sure it was
TG: like
TT: ?
TG: a plea for help
TT: That's good.
TG: no it was disturbing
TG: so i slapped my shades back on
TG: went and perved up some sleeping girls room to take my mind of it
TT: It means they're reaching out to you.
TG: oh god why would i want that
TG: im not about to get molested by calamari with fucking teeth
TG: use your powers and like
TG: stroke a mummys paw or some horseshit and open a dark channel
TG: tell them to keep their lecherous flagella to themselves
TT: You're going to have to help them.
TT: Even if you don't like them.
TT: They're being massacred.
TT: Presently, already, and still to come.
TG: whats that mean
TT: It means time doesn't work rationally out there.
TT: Nor does space.
TT: But that doesn't change the reality of the threat.
TG: who cares if theyre getting killed
TG: theyre hideous and obnoxious
TT: You're underestimating the nature of the threat.
TT: At this point, the threat isn't to our session, or any given universe.
TT: It's to the perpetuation of reality itself.
TT: You wouldn't be saving them, per se.
TT: You'd be saving everything.
TG: oh ok cool
TT: They've revealed some of their secrets to me already, and given me a few errands to run.
TT: This is why you might have observed some unusual behavior from me.
TG: oh shit youre kidding
TG: no really are you serious i didnt even notice
TG: fuck mind = blown
TT: Once these convulsions of explosive laughter subside and finish rocking my very foundation,
TT: I might point out that you haven't really been as astute as you're implying.
TT: You've deliberately fogged your vision your entire life with ironic eyewear while awake, and while asleep, though perfectly alert, you've chosen to ignore your surroundings.
TT: But now that you've seen them, you have a choice to make.
TG: ok
TT: They will only tell me so much.
TT: They would like an audience with the prince of the moon as well.
TT: We are like the emissaries to what lies beyond this small bubble in their unfathomable dark foam.
TT: Derse skirts its edge, and during the lunar eclipse, we graze it, and that's when their intent for us becomes clear.
TT: I'm doing my part, but they have a mission for you as well.
TG: what am i supposed to do
TT: Listen to them.
TT: My understanding is,
TT: They will teach you how to navigate the unnavigable.
TT: The result should be a map.
TG: like
TG: a treasure map
TT: No.
TT: Something a little more astronomical.
TT: Like a star chart with no stars.
TT: Hence the challenge.
TG: why
TT: To plot a course through the Furthest Ring.
TG: plot a course to what
TT: The power source of the first guardians.
TG: oh right the green sun ok
TG: wait sorry
TG: i mean the Green Sun my bad
TT: Yes, that's much better.
TG: whats the deal with this thing
TG: i mean aside from giving jades dog his devil powers
TG: and by extension i guess jack
TT: What's the deal with it?
TG: yeah
TT: I don't know that there is a deal with it.
TT: Beyond the deal you just described.
TT: It is what it sounds like.
TT: A huge sun out in the literal middle of nowhere, and it is bright green.
TT: It is simply,
TT: The Green Sun.
TG: how big
TG: i need a sense of scale here
TG: is it like the size of our sun
TG: or bigger
TG: or is it only as big as like
TG: planet fucking jupiter
TT: It is nearly twice the mass of our universe.
TG: ok thats pretty fucking big
TG: see how important that contextualization was now i know how fucking impressed i should be
TG: i mean hopy shit thats huge
TT: Happy I could help.
TG: so ok i make a map to this thing
TG: with the help of a million rambunctious gross tentacle mutants
TG: and then i guess we go there for some reason
TT: Yes.
TG: why do we need a map
TG: cant they just
TG: tell us what direction its in
TG: point a spaceship that way
TG: blast off to adventure
TT: No.
TT: The geometry of the Furthest Ring is too complex.
TT: Remember, its spacetime is labyrinthine.
TT: In fact, it's not really accurate to call it spacetime at all.
TT: Since it is outside the domain of any created universe, where those properties have become instantiated and stabilized.
TG: i can kind of get that time is messed up there
TG: with like loops and causality paradoxes and shit like that
TG: being the knight of time here
TG: not really sure why navigating the space would be a problem though
TG: space isnt my thing remember
TG: what is it like
TG: full of wormholes or something
TT: It depends.
TT: The greater the distance you travel through it, the less reliably time flows.
TT: And the more time you spend in it, the less reliably space behaves.
TT: Time and space aren't as different as you might think.
TG: i thought you werent supposed to know shit about either
TG: seeing as youre the seer whatever that means
TT: I think it means I'm supposed to know shit about the big picture.
TT: Which includes tidbits like that.
TT: But the insides of my shoes stay free from the grit of the minutia.
TG: fair enough
TG: so i take my map and fly to this thing
TT: No, I do.
TG: ok you fly to it
TG: then what
TT: That depends on if John is successful.
TG: you mean with the quest youre sending him on
TT: Yes.
TG: is there anything you do thats not sending dudes on quests
TT: Nothing whatsoever.
TG: so hes got to get the cancer out of skaia right
TT: Yes, The Tumor.
TG: yeah
TG: so whats The Tumor do
TG: i mean the tumor
TG: jesus can we stop with the fancy colored text bullshit
TT: I guess so.
TT: I thought it was more fun that way.
TG: well ok you can keep doing it then
TT: Thanks.
TT: The Tumor is quite a large growth at the center of the battlefield.
TT: He won't be able to remove it without fully realizing his abilities.
TG: ok cool what is it
TT: Can you promise you won't tell him?
TT: It would probably make him more nervous than he needs to be if he knew.
TG: ok i wont say anything
TG: just tell me
TT: It's a bomb.
TT: It is set to detonate precisely when the reckoning ends.
TT: This is how long we have to put this plan into motion.
TG: what the hell is a bomb doing in there
TT: It could be a feature of any session not meant to bear fruit.
TT: A means to wipe out a null session rather than leaving it lingering in paradox space for eternity.
TT: Or it could be a mutation specific to our session.
TT: I really don't know.
TG: first time for everything i guess
TG: seriously whered you get all this info
TG: did you get it all from the gods
TG: are these just a bunch of orders youre following
TT: Not exactly.
TT: They've urged me in certain directions and guided my exploration.
TT: I've obtained some answers from them, but ultimately, this idea is mine.
TT: Plus, I have other sources.
TT: One in particular has been quite illuminating.
TG: what
TT: I've been referring to him as an informant, when people ask.
TT: Which isn't often.
TG: what you mean a troll
TT: No.
TT: It's a man who exists in another universe.
TT: He wants to die.
TG: sounds like a really credible dude sign me up for trusting everything he says
TT: Only as credible as the omniscient tend to be.
TG: oh so he knows everything
TT: Yeah, I think that's what omniscient means.
TT: But maybe I'll ask him about that, since he's the omniscient one.
TG: even if he is omniscient which he probably isnt what if hes just lying
TT: He says he doesn't lie.
TT: For some reason, I believe him about that.
TT: He's a convincing fellow.
TG: whys he want to die
TT: He no longer has a purpose now that he's done everything required to summon his master.
TT: As a first guardian, he's completely indestructible.
TT: Well, almost completely.
TG: wait
TG: what
TT: His power is derived from the same source as Earth's guardian.
TT: And conveniently, that of our nemesis as well.
TG: ok i get it now
TT: When John delivers the tumor,
TT: And I do mean The Tumor,
TT: I and I alone will navigate the Furthest Ring.
TT: And I will destroy the sun.
TT: By which I do mean the GREEN MOTHER FUCKING SUN.
TT: And in case it wasn't clear,
TT: I won't be coming back.
TG: whoa fuck
TG: a suicide mission are you serious
TG: no bullshit thats not happening
TG: hey look suddenly everything we just talked about was useless because its time to make a plan that doesnt fucking suck
TT: Let's not be so dramatic.
TT: I was talking about my dream self.
TT: She's the one who won't be returning.
TG: oh
TG: haha yeah thats fine i guess
TG: those fuckers are all kinds of mad expendable
TG: way to leave me hanging there
TG: for someone whos saying lets cool it on the drama the whole i wont be coming back thing is a pretty theatrical bombshell
TG: for future reference
TT: That's true.
TT: Your outburst was pretty sweet though.
TG: yeah i know
TG: so when do i do my thing
TG: make this map
TG: which i guess is just like
TG: a solid black piece of paper
TG: this is going to be fucking stupid isnt it
TT: If there's one thing you have more than any of us, it's time.
TT: So, whenever you like.
TT: As long as conventionally speaking, it's quite soon.
TG: alright
TG: so
TG: dog it as long as possible
TG: then travel back to about now and go to sleep
TT: Sure.
TT: And if you have trouble going to sleep, maybe you can ask your patron troll to trick the telepathic one into putting you to sleep again.
TG: what
TT: Each of us seems to have a troll infatuated with helping us. Haven't you noticed?
TG: no
TT: What about the psychopath who's currently helping you?
TG: oh yeah terezi
TG: no shes cool
TT: Isn't that camaraderie blossoming into some sort of interspecies whatever?
TG: its blossoming into an interspecies partnership in incredibly shitty cartooning
TG: what do you mean get her to trick someone into putting me asleep again
TG: when did that happen
TT: Just now.
TG: who did that
TT: That would be John's patron troll.
TG: god
TG: fuckin trolls
TG: too many of them who can even keep track of this shit
TG: which ones yours
TG: is it the absurd juggalo one that would be hilarious
TT: There's a juggalo one?
TG: yeah see what i mean
TT: She's contacting me now actually.
TG: oh ok
TG: well im suddenly not interested so go talk to your fairy god troll
TG: ill be over here paving the way for your elaborate dream suicide
TG: when i feel like getting around to it i mean
TT: Thanks.
TG: later

Kennel Quilts
Hurricane Helene has left people without homes, and many pets are now in shelters. Kennel quilts are very much needed, and are a low budget option for those with limited supplies and time.
Here's the FB page for Kennel Quilts. If you're on FB, I suggest following them. If you don't use FB, got to the link below to sign up for their mailing list. Emails are sent out only when a kennel quilts are needed.
If you can't make a quilt, but would still like to help, you have the option to donate to Petfinder here.
25 kennel quilts can fit into a medium size USPS flat rate box. These are not large quilts. Here are guidelines and free patterns you can download and use for making these. The finished size is about 12x18 inches, the same size as most placemats. This is the form to print and include with the quilts you finish and donate.
These are shelters listed in the various emails I receive from Kennel Quilts:

Cubicle // 14) Call My Name
STORY PAGE
Word Count: 3040
Roni
Harry arrived at my flat a little before eight. He was taking me to a night club. Or rather, I was taking him. It was a place I frequented with Patricia, although I couldn't remember the last time I'd gone. It was possible I'd gone with Roland last, but he didn't enjoy night clubs very much. He was more of a stay in kind of guy, unless it had something to do with his group of friends.
"Wow, you look amazing," said Harry when I opened the door, his eyes big as saucers as they scanned my body up and down. I'd chosen a lemon-yellow dress with black trim that fit tight to my body and accentuated my curves.
"Thanks," I grinned. "So do you."
Harry made no effort to step inside the door frame as he continued to stare at me. Perhaps it should have made me nervous or uneasy, but it didn't. I was flattered.
"Shall we go?" I giggled.
"Wha- oh, yeah," he blushed slightly which only made me giggle more.
I grabbed my bag and my keys, locking the door behind me. Like always, he allowed me to walk in front of him down the stairs, though I could tell he was only one step behind this time, his breath practically tickling my hair. When we reached the front door of the building, Harry reached his arm over my shoulder as though to push it, only he didn't. He stopped there, making me turn around in question.
"How the hell am I going to be able to keep my hands to myself tonight?" he inquired with a smirk.
I batted my lashes at him, biting my lip. He lowered his head to my neck, lightly pressing his lips to my skin.
"God, you even smell amazing," he murmured, moving his way up to my ear.
I giggled as his other hand gripped my waist, pulling me flush against him. I gently pressed my palms against his chest.
"Harry," I whispered, "we should probably get going."
"Right," he sighed. "Sorry."
Twenty minutes later, Harry and I were stood outside the club, waiting in a queue to get in. I'd forgotten how packed this place could get, but fortunately the line moved rather quickly. Once inside, the booming of the bass pulsed through my body. I felt Harry's hand on the small of my back, making me feel secure as he guided me through the crowd to the bar. After getting our drinks, we found a small table to sit at.
"So what do you think?" I asked him.
"Looks fun," he leaned towards me. "Loud."
I chuckled. "I thought the young kids liked loud."
Harry sneered. "Stop acting like you're so much older than I am."
I glared at him as he took a sip of his drink. "Does it bother you?"
"Yeah," he nodded before resting his glass on the table. "Wait. Do you mean does it bother me that you're older than me, or that you act like you're so much older than me?"
"That I'm older than you."
He shook his head. "Not at all. I've told you that. It only bothers me that you think it does."
I sat back with a sigh. "Sorry."
"Don't apologise," he blinked. I watched him take another sip of his cocktail before reaching for my hand.
"C'mon," he said, squeezing it. "We're here to have a good time, yeah?"
"Yes," I beamed.
A couple hours and who knows how many drinks later, I was feeling pretty good. Dancing was just one more thing to add to Harry's list of incredible talents. And heaven knows how much I enjoyed feeling his body pressed against mine.
We'd been on the dance floor for a while when a particularly seductive song came on, and the lights were lowered to a reddish hue. Harry stood behind me, his hands on my waist, his lips on my ear. I began to grind against him, my arms above my head, fingers in his hair. His breaths got louder and deeper, making me weak in the knees. Perhaps it was the effects of the alcohol, but I was so completely turned on.
"You're so fucking sexy, baby," he groaned, echoing my thoughts.
His hands slid down my hips and back up again. Then he began to kiss my neck like he had earlier by the door, this time nibbling harder, and I was sure there would be a mark. I didn't care. I didn't care that there were other people there. I didn't care about anything but him.
"I can't wait to fuck you again," he whispered in my ear. "'m gonna make you come so hard."
I gasped from the anticipation of his remark, licking my lips. I turned around to face him then, the look of desire in his eyes. The red from the lights made them almost purple.
"Are you ready to go now?" I asked.
"Only if you are," he replied.
I grinned and licked my lips again. "Just let me make a quick trip to the ladies'."
I gave him a soft kiss and squeezed his arm before heading to the toilets. My veins still pumping, although this time from arousal rather than just the music, I almost didn't see him until I nearly bumped into him.
"Roni," he said, his eyes wide.
I swallowed, the bile instantly rising to my throat.
"Roland," I muttered, not bothering to disguise my contempt. "What are you doing here?"
I immediately regretted my question. Any question as far as he was concerned meant I cared an inkling, which of course I didn't.
"Just out with some friends," he grinned. "What brings you here? Kinda late for you, isn't it? You're usually in bed by this hour."
I rolled my eyes. "I think you've got that backwards."
"Do I?" he cocked a brow. "Perhaps you're right. But, a lot of things have changed since then."
Deciding I'd already wasted enough time talking to him, I pushed past him to get towards the ladies' room. I heard him call after me, something about how nice it was to see me again, but I ignored him. My ex-boyfriend was not going to ruin my night.
Harry
I was so fucking turned on. I swear to God, if we weren't in a public place in the middle of a dance floor, I would have taken her right there. I was glad that she asked me if I was ready to leave, but if she'd said she wanted to stay, I would have been okay with that. I just enjoyed being with her.
I walked to the bar to pay my tab when she went to the restroom. I watched her out of the corner of my eye when she stopped for a second to talk to some bloke. I wondered how she knew him, but something told me he wasn't someone she cared to converse with for long as she pushed past him and left him standing there.
I waited at the end of the bar for her to return, and when she did, she had a beautiful smile on her face. My heart pumped in my chest at the sight of her.
"Ready?" she asked.
"Yeah."
I took her hand, threading my fingers through hers as I led her out the door. She was a little quiet on the ride back to her place, and I wondered if it had something to do with the man at the club. I was hesitant to ask, but it started getting to me.
"You okay?"
"Hmm?" she turned her head. "Oh. Yeah. I'm fine."
She scooted a bit in her seat, pulling my hand into her lap.
"Who was that?" I inquired.
"Who was what?"
"That man you were talking to. When you went to the bathroom."
"Oh."
The drop of her head answered my earlier curiosity about it being someone she didn't care for. But it also conveyed that perhaps she didn't want to talk about it. I waited silently, not wanting to push the issue. Finally, she cleared her throat.
"That was Roland," she said. "My ex."
"Oh," I muttered. "I see."
She sighed before lifting her head to look at me. "I don't want it to be a big deal. Because it's not. It was just...weird seeing him. It's the first time I've run into him since we broke up."
I swallowed hard. "When did you break up?"
"Few months ago," she replied. "It was...you know what, I'd rather not talk about it right now, if it's okay with you."
"Certainly," I nodded. "Sorry."
She squeezed my hand tighter. "Don't be. We have plenty of time to discuss my past. I just want to enjoy the rest of this beautiful night."
I grinned over at her, bringing her hand to my lips, kissing it tenderly. I was more than willing to drop the subject. I couldn't wait to get her home.
Roni
We were barely in the door good before Harry pushed me against the wall. His mouth crashed into mine with fervor, his tongue dipping inside. A low moan escaped my throat as I wound my arms around his neck. His fingers dug into my hips, his body pressed into mine.
I slid my hands down his chest, fumbling with the buttons on his shirt until I finally had it open. He quickly shrugged out of it, tossing it behind him before grabbing my hips again. This time his hands found the hem of my dress, pushing it up to my waist. His fingers slipped underneath my panties, touching my sensitive skin so gently I let out another moan.
"So wet, baby," he murmured. "Is that all for me?"
"Yes."
Harry growled as he slid two fingers inside, making me grab hold of his shoulders, my fingernails leaving marks. My breaths quickened as his other hand found the zipper on the back of my dress, pulling it down. The straps fell down my arms, exposing my breasts.
As he continued to pump his fingers, Harry glided his tongue across my collarbone, his other hand cupping my breast. His thumb grazed my nipple, and I felt myself tremble with desire. Finally able to release my grip on his shoulders, I raked my fingernails down his torso to the waistband of his trousers. I had almost as much trouble with them as I had his shirt, but I managed to unfasten them and allow my hand to enter. I didn't miss the flutter of his eyelids as I grabbed hold of his hard cock, completely ready for me.
Without a word, Harry stopped his fingers and pulled them out. When he did, my dress fell further down my hips and hit the floor. I quickly stepped out of my panties, but when I made a move to remove my heels, Harry shook his head.
"Leave 'em on," he instructed.
I stared at him as he pushed his pants down, his cock springing free. In one swift motion, he grabbed my bum, pulling me up. I opened my legs wide for him as he entered me with animalistic intensity. My back against the wall, I leant my head back as he fucked me hard.
"Holy shit!" I exclaimed breathlessly.
Harry bit his lower lip, a sexy grin on his face. His hips moved fast. It was almost too much to bear. I could feel myself getting close to the peak already.
"Harry..." I moaned. "Oh God..."
"Yeah..." he breathed. "I love fucking you, baby."
I licked my lips. "Me too."
As he continued to pump, my toes curled and my head was reeling. I knew he was holding me up, but I felt like I could just melt down the wall.
"You're close aren't you?" he whispered in my ear.
"Mmm hmm," I answered.
"I can tell," he said in a sexy tone that ignited a whole new fire within me. "God damn, you're squeezing so tight."
"Can't help it," I groaned. "Feels so good."
"I know, baby. Let go. Come for me."
A guttural moan rose from my throat as I reached orgasm. I called out his name over and over until I came down, my body trembling. Harry stopped his hips while he kissed me.
"Wrap you legs around me, love," he said.
When I obliged, Harry surprised me by turning from the wall and carrying me to the bedroom. He laid me on the bed before kicking off his shoes and removing his pants completely. When his body hovered over me, I took in his beauty.
"You're so beautiful," he announced, making me giggle. He raised a brow in question.
"I was just thinking the same about you," I declared sincerely.
With a slight grin, he lifted his hand to my chest. Caressing me gently, he then slid it down to my stomach, stopping at the space below my navel. Then positioning himself, he aimed his erection at my center, slipping inside easily.
I gasped at the friction, though I'd only just felt it moments before. I was still tender but it didn't hurt in the least. I lifted my knees, opening them wider. This time Harry didn't fuck me hard and fast. This time he was slow, his movements deliberate and intoxicating. I looked down at where his hand was placed, finding it completely erotic. I bit my lip trying to escape a moan as I lifted my head to see him staring at me. His green eyes were blazing with intensity.
"Roni," he finally cried when I saw his brows furrow. "Ah fuck, baby."
I nodded, urging him to come. His chest shook as he moaned, and his thrusts sped up. With no warning, he lowered his hand a tiny bit so that his thumb met with my clit. I arched my back, my hips rising to meet his. It was his turn to let out a deep moan, though I could feel my own release as well. We came together then. I held onto him tightly while he said my name.
We laid there for a few minutes catching our breath. Harry buried his face in my neck, and I could feel his mouth against my skin. I tickled my fingertips up his back to his curls which were damp with perspiration. When he rolled off of me to lay beside me, I turned my head to grin at him. He looked completely spent which only made my heart flutter. I scooted away to give him some space, but he reached his arm out to pull me back.
"Where are you going?" he inquired, his voice raspy. God, he was sexy.
"Nowhere, I reckon," I chuckled.
"Good." He ran the back of his hand down my cheek, giving me goosebumps. Then he nuzzled my neck, leaving wet kisses. "You should stay right here."
I smiled. "Can I at least take off my shoes now?"
Harry laughed against my shoulder, making me jump. "I'll do it."
I glared at him in question when he sat up and reached for my feet. Though the buckles had always been hard for me to unfasten, Harry managed to do it easily. I watched him with glee as he slipped the shoes off my feet and placed them on the floor next to my bureau.
"Thanks," I beamed when he laid beside me again.
He didn't say anything. He only held me for a while, rotating his hand from my hair to my arm, to my waist, and back again. I had a feeling something was on his mind, but he remained silent. I playfully traced his lips with my finger before planting a kiss on them.
Harry
I wanted to say it again, but I was a pussy. I knew it had only been a couple days since I'd admitted I was falling in love with her. But for some reason actually saying those three words was different. And I wasn't sure if she was ready to hear them yet.
I was also a little apprehensive about this Roland fellow. Granted, he's just her ex, and I seriously doubt I had any cause to worry that they still had any sort of relationship or ties. And I most certainly was not jealous of him. Roni was mine now, and I knew it. However, something about him made me a bit uneasy, although I hadn't spoken with him. He almost reminded me of Holcomb, and the comparison, even in my head, made me shiver.
"You're being quiet," I heard her say, breaking me from my thoughts. I blinked, embarrassed that she noticed.
I cleared my throat. "Sorry."
"Are you tired?" she asked.
I shrugged. "Maybe a little."
"We can go to sleep if you want," she offered. "That is of course, if you were planning on staying the night."
I grinned at her. "Absolutely."
She sighed with relief. "Good."
She then stood from the bed, pulling down the duvet and fluffing the pillows.
"Be right back," she said.
She walked around the bed toward the bathroom, but I grabbed her and pulled her into a kiss. She hummed against my lips, kissing me back. When I released her, the look on her face was extraordinary. I can't really describe it. But if I could have taken a picture, I would have. She was so completely beautiful, a heavenly glow about her as her messy hair brushed her bare shoulders.
"I'll be right back," she repeated before turning away.
I got into bed, covering my lower half with the sheet. I gazed around Roni's tranquil bedroom, my hands behind my head. She returned minutes later with the same look. I couldn't hold back the grin that spread across my face.
"What?" she asked when she crawled into bed beside me.
"Nothing," I muttered. "You just look...happy. And it makes me happy."
Her smile grew bigger as she leant towards me, pressing her amazing lips to mine.
"I am," she agreed.
I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her body against mine, continuing the kiss, and following it with more. I had a feeling I'd be saying those three words fairly soon.

the Norwegian healthcare system
(link)
and for reference 10 nok (kroner) ≈ 1 usd (dollar)
I cannot be bothered to translate everything, if you want translation go to the page and let google or something do it. If there's something specific you can ask.
I'm sure many translate neatly like "konsultasjon" = "consultation".
and yeah, under 16 years and retired people in the lowest paid retirement bracket are exempt. + some other groups.
and this year the max you'll have to pay for healthcare (excl. tax) is 3040 kr (≈300$)

DC Comics has announced multiple projects with Geoff Johns, launching this November. That includes The New Golden Age #1 one-shot out November 8th, a new ongoing series Justice Society of America #1 starting November 22, and a six-issue series Stargirl: The Lost Children #1 launching November 15.
These stories spin out of the aftermath of Flashpoint Beyond with heroes’ and villains’ lives being turned upside down, from the past to the far future. We’re talking 1940s to the 3040s! The New Golden Age one-shot promises to unlock DC’s epic and secret-ridden history of heroism, launching a new group of titles with Justice Society of America and Stargirl: The Lost Children.

A long-lost hero from the JSA crashes into our era with a grave warning…but it’s too late. A mysterious and malevolent enemy has invaded the entire history of the JSA, and an all-new team must come together to defeat it. But what deadly secret does this messenger from beyond keep? Where are they from? And why is all of this happening now? Only the Time Masters know…
“There will be familiar faces re-joining the team, like Jay Garrick and Alan Scott, as well as long-lost members returning, like Beth Chapel and Yolanda Montez, and a new Golden Age legacy hero first hinted at in the end of Flashpoint Beyond. Mikel Janin is doing the work of his career on this,” added Johns.

Day 18: Engineering our own misfortune
https://homestuck.com/story/2939
It never occurred to me until now that being betrayed by Jack Noir, the first person to accept him for who he is in a sense, is probably a signifcant part of the reason why Karkat is so angry. It’s probably ironic that the Blood Player’s relationships all have a tendency to disintegrate. Poor guy.
All but one of Karkat’s coplayers will either die, betray him, abandon him, or break up with him before the adventure is over.
More after the break. CW: This one has some suicide mentions in it.
https://homestuck.com/story/2950
WV and the other Carapacians may have some instinctive level of awareness of the players’ classes and aspects - while their legend is ensconced in Carapacian Lore, WV instantly senses the narrative presence of the Thief of Light.
https://homestuck.com/story/2960
Now here is something interesting. I just picked up on it, even though it has actually been present all throughout - when the Narrative addresses WV, it addresses him with information he almost certainly could not know - in a call and response fashion! While he’s jumping from one thought to another in terms of John’s different correspondents, the way that he phrases his dialogue suggests that he is aware of what the Narrative is addressing him.
https://homestuck.com/story/2962
And by all accounts, what he is viewing here is not the literal material events as they unfold, he’s literally looking at the same panels we are.
https://homestuck.com/story/2974
Vriska’s gloating here has always given me chills. It’s in moments like these that she really shines as not just a bully but an authentic diabolical mastermind who is, at least at this point in the story, utterly indifferent to the lives of other people.
https://homestuck.com/story/2975
Vriska’s external locus of control excuses her of feeling guilty about creating Bec Noir. While she is 100% responsible for it, that doesn’t mean, in her mind, that she should suffer any consequences for it (although she’s perfectly happy to take the credit for creating him, it seems.)
https://homestuck.com/story/2992
I’ve always thought that the Dream Bubbles were an extremely cool plot contrivance - semantically linking memories together with dreams and death is a really cool bit of linking.
https://homestuck.com/story/3008
Just as Jade has had effectively no parent to help her find her way in life, she will now have to suffer a sprite who cannot give her advice either. She remains alone.
https://homestuck.com/story/3010
Bec, to a greater degree than perhaps even the Seers, is directly cognizant of interruptions by Command Prompts.
https://homestuck.com/story/3017
I’m starting to be able to actually pick up the themes of the whole Exile plotline.
It seems, in general, to be a parable on power and authority, with each of the Exiles representing one kind or another. You’ve got WV who aspires to be first among equals, democratically elected, a community leader and organizer.
You’ve got the White Queen, who fits classical tropes related to the Good Monarch, a symbolic authority.
You’ve got the Peregrine Mendicant, whose take on governmental duty is more that of a functionary - her self-concept is as someone who does what is needed.
And then you’ve got the Aimless Renegade, who, as a Mad Max Type wasteland cop, could be read as either a playful parody of eighties and nineties copaganda, or as a criticism of copaganda, or both - government as the State, an enforcer of constructed order.
Of all of them, it’s clear that WV and PM’s takes on power are the most useful. The White King and Queen are quickly slaughtered once Jack arrives, because without their magical mcguffins, they remain little more than walking talking symbols.
AR is an interesting case though, because his defining character moment is that he hesitates to follow his orders, and while it could be argued that everything that ensues is his fault for not being stone cold enough to do what needs to be done, I’d argue that his hesitation is admirable - Jack escapes to live another day, and the Mayor survives. The Mayor’s infectious compassion ultimately saves his own life through the AR’s refusal to let him die by destroying the command stations in Cascade, because AR is not willing to trade lives.
https://homestuck.com/story/3040
I’ve never been entirely clear on whether the Dark Gods should be considered evil or simply incomprehensible, morally uncategorizable - in any case, the unique nature of the Kids’ session seems to preclude an ordinary relationship with them. By all accounts they also seem perfectly happy to help Rose create the Green Sun as well, sowing the seeds that will grow into Lord English, their own murderer.
Whatever they’re up to is extremely unclear, and they mostly seem to be a wildcard. I’ll have to see if any of my Homestuck chums have thoughts about the Horrorterrors. With the exception of the Dream Bubbles and their ability to facilitate interaction between the living and the Dead, talking to the Horrorterrors seems to be at best an exercise in facilitating inevitable misfortune - they seem to be all but completely useless.
I suppose learning how to navigate the furthest ring comes in handy exactly once, since it enables the kids to fly to the Alpha’s universe.
https://homestuck.com/story/3043
Rose’s pessimistic dissatisfaction manifests in two ways during this conversation - the first is her contemplation of self-destruction. Along with her suicide mission, one of the very first things she mentions about Doc Scratch is that he wants to die - which clearly fascinates her. The other thing is that, suspicious of the version of truth that Skaia presents, and lacking an anchor, she is very easily swayed by characters who offer her an alternative truth.

It has just occurred to me that while Rose doesn’t do anything directly to harm her co-players the way that Vriska does, the main actual thing that they have in common, that I was having a hard time putting my finger on, is actually another parallel between the two of them and Aradia - by allowing themselves to be manipulated by forces of evil beyond human comprehension - Doc Scratch in particular - Rose and Vriska both make manifest all sorts of misfortune. In Aradia’s case, it’s her continuous manipulation by the voices of the dead.
Both of them create nearly all of their own problems, and while they’re at it, create immense amounts of suffering from other people who happen to be in the vicinity. And, according to the rules of the Alpha Timeline, both of them therefore give their assent to their misfortune. The Alpha Timeline is, of course, the same as the Glub Glub trap - if you refuse to participate, you are destroyed, but participation is horrible.

Couple things.
The first and most obvious is;
Monkey see, Monkey do.
We’re starting to see the fallout of Vriska’s attempts to acculturate Tavros - she’s tried to force a square peg into a round hole, and has had no luck. Tavros doesn’t fit her vision of an ideal troll, and he never will; that’s not the kind of person that he is.
The use of the word hero is what’s important here. Notice especially the way that he draws a line from physical fitness and personal worth - the ability to do important things that you want to do has become Tavros’ idea of how to self-actualize. He has internalized Vriska’s toxic ideas.
The other thing is that while Grandpa may not have literally committed suicide, but he is clearly emotionally checked out of life - playing Indiana Jones when he’s away from home, and interacting with fantasy women at his tea party, instead of engaging with his real life granddaughter.
Suicide’s a touchy subject, one which Homestuck touches on. As I’ve already said, I’m not going to touch on the Epilogues or HS^2, both of which also touch on the subject. It’s not a central theme, I don’t think, although either killing themselves or waiting around to die recur multiple times as possibilities in the minds of different characters, particularly the Lalondes and Striders. I’ll have more to say about each individual instance, but in both the insincere threat of suicide Rose uses in her early strife, and here in Act 5, the act of self-destruction is not motivated by despair, but by spite - for Rose, self-destruction would be an act to spite someone else who wants her to exist.
Grandpa Harley’s complete emotional absence from the life of his loved ones might be called a bit of emotional suicide. Checked out of personal reality completely to pursue a life of fantasy (and to facilitate Sburb), Grandpa Harley may as well have been dead from Jade’s perspective, even before he died.

The link between being a Hero Coolguy and Romantic (Reproductive) Success is drawn very neatly by Tavros, but because the premise is false, the conclusion is also false.
https://homestuck.com/story/3059
Vriska immediately calls attention to the way Tavros is parroting her behavior because of her influence - without all of the chest-beating and saber-rattling that Vriska does, the skillfully executed showmanship of being aloof and confident, there’s not that much difference between what Tavros tried to pull just now, and what Vriska has always done - even repeating her romantic faux-pas.

And we’ll pause here, before I get to another walkaround, which I will do tomorrow.
Not a lot that inspired me to talk in the 150 or so pages I got today. Lots of action in Act 5, but less emotional meat to dig into.
For now, it’s Cam signing off, alive but not alone.

Video: David Spade's 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Heads to Barrett-Jackson
Actor and comedian David Spade will be auctioning off his personal 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona today at no reserve. Spade admits that he always wanted a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 and was fortunate to acquire one back in 2013. But now, it is time to part ways with the beauty, and Spade says that he cannot think of a better place to do so than at the renowned Barrett-Jackson auction.
While David says that he will be moving on and looking for something new, he offers no insight into what that vehicle might be. Regardless, it’s safe to assume that fans and Mustang aficionados alike will be more than eager to bring this stunner home to their garage. Take a look at the video clip below to learn a little more about Spade’s Mach 1 before it crosses the block later. You can also view the full auction page for this sweet ride right here.

The celebrity ownership history is surely going to help attract plenty of bids and raise the price of this ’69 Mach 1 all the same. The only thing that might have car enthusiasts shaking their heads is the fact that this Mustang is not a manual. When explaining why he chose automatic, Spade said that navigating through Los Angeles traffic in his stick shift was becoming quite the chore. He also added: “It’s perfect for doing donuts in the Chili’s parking lot.”
This 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 features a Dark Gray Metallic exterior paint which Spade explains as an “anthracite” color. It sits on Magnum 500-style 14-inch wheels with Sport Slats rear window louvers, and front and rear spoilers. The interior on this classic is black vinyl and appears to be in excellent condition from the photos provided. Under the hood, this classic is powered by Ford’s 351ci Windsor V8 engine mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission. David Space expresses his love for the vehicle as he prepares to say goodbye to his pride and joy. “It drives fast and is a lot of fun,” he adds.
This car was originally ordered through the Twin Cities District Sales Office and manufactured on June 20, 1969. During prior ownership, the engine and transmission were rebuilt, and modifications are said to include .030 over pistons, a polished crankshaft, ported and polished cylinder heads with hardened valve seats, Pertronix ignition, and auxiliary gauges. A standard Marti Report is also included with the purchase of this vehicle.
