So I stumbled upon a website in my search for a list of Norse runes to forward to a friend and I stumbled upon a particular website that is particularly egregious. Here’s what I discovered, for the sake of providing some education on spotting dogwhistles when it comes to looking at Norse Pagan resources, and websites of general Norse enthusiasts.
This one is particularly bad, so fair warning that there is very explicit white supremacist language and iconography in these screenshots. This is for education only and I do not condone the messages presented in these screenshots.
Can anyone potentially point out what’s wrong in the above images? Allow me to annotate:
And it gets worse!
This is the type of shit you gotta look out for when you’re looking for information and resources on anything to do with Norse paganism, Norse stuff in general even. Always look out for language that talks about an innate ancestral claim, that you must have a certain ancestry to work with the gods of this pantheon. The claim that the religion is indigenous is also something to look out for (especially when they’re trying to say that they’re “protecting” their culture, which is a whole can of worms in and of itself I’ll gladly elaborate on for the curious) as well as the notion that ancient Norse people were “colonized” by Christians. The word “folk,” especially in terms of the phrase “gather the folk,” is also to be watched out for.
A very explicit example is in this set of screenshots too, trying to give nuance to the fucking 14 Words.
Odinism itself was coined by a nazi, and it is to this day a nazi movement. People who are not far right but use the term are either miseducated, or are blissfully aware they’re willingly sitting with Nazis. It is not a term you should use freely or at all. If you’re so inclined, “Asatru” is a word you should use because it wasn’t coined by a nazi, though be aware that Asatru itself can be interpreted negatively because of associations with far right groups such as the AFA (Asatru Folk Assembly), but is not in and of itself inherently bad like the term Odinist is.
Always be hyper vigilant as to the websites and the sources you’re looking at. Keep an eye out for things like this while you’re researching.

anyways on that note it further cements some of my most beautiful experiences with christian folks is almost always with lgbt christians and also sometimes delivers a message i dont even think is from YHWH alone. i firmly believe the gods aint beefing like people act like they are and they all drink at the same bar. many many many a time I firmly believe YHWH and Odin had a hand in looking out for me. I don't always admit it, but I do believe in the transcendence and goodness of divinity beyond man's written problematic dogma. and a lot of pagans feel this way lol. like I don't want to worship YHWH or anything, but I'm kinda like, hey, I acknowledge you aren't what people say, I acknowledge the beauty of your followers who aren't dbags, just like I have many incredible Jewish and Muslim friends and I love their faith, it isn't His fault that there are dbag evangelical freakies in the world, just like it ain't Odin's fault there's a bunch of nazi scumbags. every faith has its good and bad, and I love to be a big embracer of people of faith who are just normal hinged people. i will always fight for that. i straight up do not fuck with people who make fun of religion or bag on religious people as sheep or idiots or hateful b/c that isn't the truth inherently. that's about them, class, politics, propaganda, it has nothing to ACTUALLY do with their faith. and like, yeah, i grew up hardcore evangelical in texas. my moms side of the family is transphobic and says god doesnt make mistakes and im a woman blabla. well? god doesn't make mistakes and it's an assumption that that god even made me, first of all, but secondly, like, ok? that's your opinion and it aint "gods". like, fuck you lol. but it has taken a LONG time for me to heal from this, understandably, but now, im like, fine. I prayed to lord and jesus and every norse god i venerated on my father's dying bed. like. sue me. faith is rad and lack of faith is fine but dictating who everyone is or isnt under your false premise of faith OR atheism, is shitty.

starting to feel a lot better about things now that I've re-enchanted some things, upped my wards, and had a nice grounding cup of appy juice. I may still live with my abuser, but at least I can stop her from affecting me as badly as she wants to.
plus I re-charged my job hunting jar since it seems like i need its help once again. let's hope it brings one to me swiftly <3

I finally cleaned and reorganized my altar last night. (Yeah, I know, that altar cloth does NOT look clean, but what can I say. Years of incense ash and candle wax is super hard to get out lol).
It feels nice having more of a focus on my main dude Thor since I've been leaning on him pretty heavy these past couple of months. The cleaning and decluttering was a nice devotional experience of sorts. Lots of focusing on which elements still fit and which ones didn't. Overall, I absolutely love how it turned out 💖🌩

I know this makes me sound like a Christian or whatever but it’s true and I feel it in my heart.
The gods love you. They love your skin, your hair, your voice, your languages. They reward your good deeds, they will stand by you when you falter and they will give you the strength to get back up again and do better next time. They are interested in your daily mundane affairs even if you yourself think it’s above them. They’re interested, I promise. The gods love you, everything about you.
#caydeposting#paganposting#I don’t believe they’re omnibenevolent or omnipotent#but I do believe they’re in a way omnipresent

Chaos IS the forces of nature. It is unpredictable, powerful, and uncontrollable; it influences everything; and where 'chaos' is blames nature sits smiling allowing the blame to pass.
That sounds negative but it is in fact beautiful, life affirming, and freeing to accept. We exist in a macrocosm of all things and to claim that we are anything less than or more than an inexorable part of nature is simply hubris. We do not control it we control how the winds of nature flow through our feathers.
While I believe heathens are free to worship and acknowledge whichever gods and spirits feel right to them within the pantheon, choosing not to worship Loki because you “don’t want to invite chaos” is the height of hubris.
Remember that even Frigg and Odin could not prevent chaos, and remember what happened when they tried.
Chaos, like many things in life, will find you whether you invite it or not, so maybe show it some respect every once in a while x0x

People who do not ever get to experience my paganposting probably think I'm absolutely nuts but my own personal religious lore goes BACK and honestly I guess this whole blog started as a Heathen journaling place but then also became that + me just posting JS photos and honestly, I'm not mad at it.
