PA74 Music Catalogue - CARMINE IEMBO "Un bagaglio" Quando ho scritto “Un bagaglio” avevo 25 anni, pochi esami al conseguimento della laurea e tante incertezze riguardo al futuro. Un giorno tornando a casa dall’Università mi sono chiesto che senso avesse poi tutto quello che stavo facendo, le continue corse , le lotte, le sconfitte, le vittorie, se un giorno tutto sarebbe finito, senza poter lasciare una traccia del mio vissuto. Mi sono posto alcune domande che un po’ tutti si pongono: Cosa ci sarà dopo? Rincontrerò le persone che ho perso? Se alla fine del mio viaggio perderò la coscienza di me stesso , non avrò più ricordi del mio vissuto e non saprò più chi sono. Allora mi rivolgo ad un’entità superiore che sta lassù a capo di tutto e gli chiedo se posso portare con me in “un bagaglio” dei pezzi della mia vita , perché nel bene e nel male, è la mia, ed è il dono più grande che ognuno di noi ha ricevuto. Tutti hanno un proprio viaggio unico ed autentico , in questa canzone racconto il mio. La canzone può avere una chiave di lettura alternativa a seconda dell’ascoltatore. The Killing Tapes ‘The Kings of Dark Pop’ was formed in 2020 by Marcus Crede (Kreatur and others) and Peter Svensson (Mary Celeste, Hello Hartland). The lyrics and demos were presented to Peter by Marcus in the fall of 2020 and they immediately began to work on the material together. Shortly into the writing process they both realized that the songs were of such quality and importance, they wanted to find a producer that could help them record the songs so that they would sound the best they could.

Late fall of 2020, Roy Lundberg (Studio Connect) was presented with the songs and he took on the job of producing and recording the album, on an analog console.

The recording process and writing of songs was beginning to take its toll on all involved due to mental illness, alcoholism, drugs and other events, to such an extent that they didn’t know if this was too big of a project to handle. But the love for our music kept them going, and after some drastic changes they decided to give Niels Nielsen (Ghost, In Flames, Dead Soul) the job to mix the music for The Witch. He did such a good job as he understands the music and the sound they are after, so they decided he will do the mixing on the rest of the album after First Love and do the producing themselves.

BLACK album is written by Marcus in a difficult period in his life, with many events taking place the year before. The symbolic lyrics are rendered through the music, and to make it easier to tell, he has chosen to use a number of murders in the early 90's as a background to his own stories. BLACK is about grief - hate - vengeance and love. In that particular order. It’s about letting go of yourself and sacrificing everything for the sake of love.

Musically The Killing Tapes is a unique mix of Alternative Rock and electronic instruments. They have used original 80s and 90s synths (KORG M1, M3, Wavestation, MS20, Yamaha PSR). It is not a retro album but the sounds of the gear and the way it is played gives a certain feeling of melancholy they both love.

Peter and Marcus play all the instruments.
