Louise Bonfils (Nov. 3, 1856 - 1933) was a Danish marine painter. She was the first woman in Denmark to register to train as a marine painter and she studied at Kunstskolen for Kvinder at the Royal Academy and later with Tuxen and Krøyer at Kunstnernes Frie Studieskoler.

Peder Severin Krøyer (1851-1909) - Degn Brøndum sitting in the dunes with his hunting dog
Oil on canvas. Painted in 1898.
21.7 x 31.9 inches, 55 x 81 cm. Estimate: DKK 1,500,000-2,000,000.
Sold Bruun Rasmussen, Copenhagen, 18 Sept 2023 for DKK 1,700,000 + B.P.
The painting can be considered as a preparatory work for Krøyer's larger painting Skagens jægere (The Skagen Hunters) from 1898, and is located at ARoS, Aarhus Art Museum.
Degn Brøndum (1856-1932) was a merchant, innkeeper, hotel owner, co-founder of Skagens Museum and brother of Anna Ancher. Around 1880, he took over Brøndums Hotel in Skagen after his father.
I like the intensity of the dog's gaze. A proper dog.

When you draw nature/backgrounds do you look at references? because some of the stuff you've been drawing looks so accurate, the lighting is amazing😭
I use a lot of references from movie stills and screenshots (I find them on pinterest) 🫶
I have a handful of generic memory-pictures of backyards, forests and beaches in my head, that I pull out whenever I'm too lazy and don't feel like looking for an actual reference, though 🥹
(Also thank you!! 👉🏼👈🏼 I put a lot of time, sweat and energy into lighting, I'm really happy that it shows 😭)

Summer evening at Skagen. P.S. Krøyer. 1892. Oil on canvas. Skagens Kunstmuseer.
This is one of my absolute favourite paintings, I just love the contrast between the yellow of her dress and the blue sea so much.

Marie Krøyer (June 11, 1867 - 1940) was a Danish painter and designer. Her two difficult marriages kept her from producing as much art as she should have, but we have a few good works by her nonetheless...

do you have any favorite artists that you look up to?
I have spent a while thinking about this, because I do have certain artstyles that I really really admire and look up to 🎉
I've been gripped by the fantastic world of using a flat and angled lineart brush to draw everything recently, and that inspiration I took from artists on here, such as
@Wolfythewitch and @Crownorclower (I won't tag them, because I'm a bit shy to have them see this)
Wolfythewitch in particular I look up to their general style, particularly with painting realistically while still maintaining a stylistic outcome! I am a huge lover of the romantic-period (1800-~1870) and the Naturalism/Realism-period (Late 18th, early 19th cent.) paintings, so they just scratch all the parts in my brain with their art!
As for style and lines, I'm obsessed with @Zosanbrainrot, @Chippuyon, @Seagiri and themetalhiro
Real life artists, because I do look to actual paintings for inspiration sometimes 😭
I am obsessed with "P.S. Krøyer" paintings and the general "Skagens malere" of the romantic period.
"Hip! Hip! Hurra!", "Roser" and "Skagens jægere" are just a few of the ones I love from him!
"The woman in the garden" by Claude Monet and such paintings, they make me go completely insane, I love them so much

P.S. Krøyer, A Duet (1887) Miss Beatrice Dietrichsen and the painter Vilhelm Rosenstand in a duet, accompanied by Mrs Vilhelmine Bramsen at the piano. Seen at the front - with her back to the viewer - is Miss Marie Triepcke. Krøyer wanted her to sit for him, and this is his first painting of her.
