Azuru gets called “Atzuru” by his brother. Azuru is normally written in katakana as “00″ and Atzuru is written in kanji as “00″, so I felt as if it was important to make the distinction

Renri says Azuru Orio. In the original Japanese, they wrote it as “Orio Azuru” (last name first, first name second), which is the standard way in Japan to write and address someone. Since I assume that most of this translation’s readers are westerners, I thought it less confusing to write it as [first name first, last name second]

Mr. Ozamu dould’ve also been translated as Mr. Ozam(?) since it was written in katakana.

and while translating, I started getting confused at Azuru’s implied gender? Since their brother called them “older brother” + the fact that they wear a boy’s school uniform, I assumed that they were a guy, but when they mentioned that their brother can’t be in a romantic relationship with another guy, which they use as an example to describe their situation, I was bamboozled. Since Azuru is confused on if Renri is a girl or a guy, and they say that they’ve lost interest since they learned of Renri’s feminine anatomy, I couldn’t help but start thinking that Azuru was mtf and straight? It might just be me who’s just dumb and misread Azuru’s character though...( ´_ゝ` )

The story isn’t finished yet, so I’m going to assume that Azuru is trans mtf and interested in more masculine presenting people until stated otherwise, since that’s all I can really gather from all of the context that we currently have

🎠 with Oz, Qrow, and Unnamed guy #2 pls :3c

LMAOO ITS ALL GOOD BRO ILY it was a nice lil surprise!! 🎠- what do you do for leisure/entertainment? do you go places, play games together, or simply watch a movie nd cuddle? Hm. Not something I've thought about a lot with Ozpin, but the first thing that comes to mind is going out somewhere with few or no people to just!! vibe. Working in a school/on school grounds all day usually means a lot of people, a lot of problems, and just. a lot in general. So, whether that's going somewhere on the outskirts of town/kingdom, or to a nearby park at a time almost no one would be around, we take that time to relax!! Sometimes we talk, sometimes we just sit in a comfortable silence as we stick to our own thoughts and enjoy the presence of the other for Qrow- we either stay inside to spend the time cuddling and just holding one another close as we talk or nap depending on our energy levels. Or!! We go out and explore around whatever town or place we're in, meander around to see if we find anything or anywhere interesting, and usually people watch as we do so. Just, anything that doesn't take a lot to do and helps us unwind!! But most of the time we cuddle cause we're usually always on the go- thus getting a smidge of time to rest is heavenly LMAO now- for Unnamed 2- whether they are a guy or not? You shall never know~ but that- is also something I haven't thought of much either. honestly it'd most likely be cuddles as well. Watch a movie or show or talk as well. Or, if we both have a lot of energy, I can see us looking into different things to try out!! Like- classes for pottery or a guide to learning how to tend and manage your own garden.

An aye-write Guide to Opening Lines!

Let’s face it. Opening lines are tough. Along with your last line, the opening line will probably be the toughest part of your book to write. A good opening line should be intriguing, inviting, or captivating - enough to hook your reader and reel them in for the rest of the story. 

So what should an opening line do exactly? Here are five main guidelines:

Spark the curiosity of a reader

Create an emotional connection

Provide entertainment (especially humour)

Shock the reader

Set something in motion

Some opening lines might only do one of these. Some might do more than one. There are some that may not do any of these at all. Ultimately, you do what works for your story - but these are good to keep in mind.

So How Do we Do This? 

There is no definitive way to write a good opening line. Good opening lines, like stories and writing styles themselves, are very subjective. Every writing “rule” can be broken if you can use it effectively. But here are some of my guidelines - and examples - to get you started: 

Mystify Your Readers

Make your first sentence shocking, intriguing, open-ended or foreshadowing something as-of-yet unknown. Your reader should be full of questions about what they’ve just read. 

Example: “As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a monstrous vermin.”

Establish a sense of setting/tone/character

This is a very broad one and can fall in under the umbrella term of “description”. If your novel has a strong sense of place, atmosphere or character, beginning with your unique “selling point” is an excellent way to involve readers in what you’re all about. 

Remember to be genuine, though. Start as you mean to go on. For example, there is (usually) little sense in beginning with a dark and sombre tone if the rest of your book is light-hearted.

Examples:

“The sky was the colour of cat vomit” (Setting)

“All children, except one, grow up.” (Character)

“The sky above the port was the colour of television, tuned to a dead channel.” (Tone)

Begin with action/conflict

Action doesn’t need to be fast or blisteringly exciting. It doesn’t have to be sword fights and explosions. Action is simply a character doing something, anything, in an active and engaging way. 

Similarly, with conflict, you can start a book with the exact moment a character figures out they are in trouble to create a sense of urgency, or you can highlight conflict between two characters, for example, through dialogue.

Examples:

“Hala is running for class when her cell phone rings. She slows to take it from her pocket, glances at the screen: UNKNOWN CALLER.” 

“They left Abal in a hurry, after Ozam’s mother killed the constable.”

My Handy Hints for Opening Lines!

Don’t deceive with an opening line – a false premise is disappointing. 

Keep it purposeful and relevant! 

Be bold! Resist the temptation to be “fluffy” – get to the point!

Starting with dialogue can be confusing to some readers if there are no context clues who is speaking or to whom.  

Unusual/unexpected ideas or descriptions are a good starting point, especially if you can catch a reader off guard.
