Okay so this might be a dumb question and I’m sorry if it is or if you’ve already answered it, but have you finished writing Darwin? I know that you’ve said in the past that there was other stuff that you wanted to do with it but it’s been awhile and I was just curious because I went down a nostalgia trip. Hi anon! God, you’re taking me down a nostalgia trip too.

I ended up deciding to complete the Darwin series with the fifth work of the series, Darwin. The planned sixth story, A Century of Love, fell apart every time I tried to write it in 2017 and I felt like I was on a time crunch since 2017 was the century mark of the first work, 1917. That was also the time I started to drift away from canonical Hetalia characters and started getting into Statetalia more. And the side series I also thought about doing was always more conceptual, so other than a Wales and New Zealand fic I started to sketch out, it never got off the ground. 

I have been wanting to go back to AmeTralia and Kyle and Alfred on and off of late, so I may eventually decide to extend the Darwin series further on, but I’ll see when I get there. I may just start a whole new story if I return to them.

Alfred. He can do line dancing, and in theory, he understands partner dances. However, actually try to do more than swaying with him and he’ll have all the grace of a beached whale.

Kyle. Alfred’s surprised too, but once he found Kyle just glued to the screen while binge watching Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta and when he came back by, Kyle had literally not moved and was deeply invested in the episode.

Kyle. Why be bothered when you can just be lazy?

Alfred. This is his Kyle, and no, you may not even look at him let alone touch him, understand?

Alfred. Kyle ends up glad that he has so many pairs of sunglasses, because the house is physically painful to look at during the winter.

Alfred. Not that Kyle doesn’t, but normally it’s Alfred. He will need a good long cuddle session with Kyle after any particularly sad moments.

Alfred. He’s actually not terrible, in truth. But he’s not the fun parent, because Kyle’s just an overgrown kid, so if you put him with actual children, responsibility can be/is thrown to the wind. So, unfortunately, that means Alfred has to be responsible.

drinks too much caffeine

Kyle. He nyoom.

could sleep for twenty-four hours straight

Kyle. Like a koala bear that sleeps for 22 hours, if you let him crash that hard, he will be gone for hours, possibly days.

Kyle. “I swear babe, as long as they’re both clean, it’s all good.”

Alfred. Kyle laughs while he bandages up Al’s poor knuckles. However, given his super strength, Al does have the comfort that at least he did some damage to the tree.

Alfred. “OH JESUS FUCK-” In the background, Kyle can be heard losing his goddamn mind over it.

Summary: For almost three months, America has been at war, since a day that will live in infamy. For the rest of the allies, it has been three years. Kyle is exhausted, and knows the path of war is still long and unwinding before him. And yet here he sits in another meeting, listening to the others argue, tired and ready to head home and fight in the Pacific Theater, Alfred with him every step of the way. It is February 19th, 1942 at home in Australia, early in the morning. And yet here he is in the northern hemisphere, arguing with the other allies, and he cannot shake the feeling that something terrible is about to happen. At 9:58 AM, in Darwin, Australia, Kyle will learn how an attack on one’s own soil can affect a personification first hand, and Alfred will make a vow to become death, destroyer of worlds.

Okay, so I just had a super dumb AmeTralia headcanon that I love and have to share. It’s basically “If I could draw the boys, what would I make them for Halloween?”

Now, I imagine Alfred probably chooses a costume based on either a new favorite movie from Hollywood or an old classic if he’s not particularly excited by anything this year, and often, if he can make it a couple’s costume with Kyle, he does.

This year, Al was over the moon with Wonder Woman (def. not because of any personal bias here or anything not at all.) So he instantly begins trying to convince Kyle to do it as a couple costume as Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor, and Kyle finally relents on one condition.

They show up at the big Halloween party and Alfred is dressed as Steve Trevor and Kyle is Wonder Woman, because 1. Steve Trevor and Alfred just look so much alike and 2. He pulls off this outfit a hell of a lot better than Al.

Summary:  As the war to end all wars ended, hope was high for peace. Kyle’s glad Alfred’s chosen to stay out of it, and when England insists someone must try to get America to join, he volunteers. After all, he can do the bare minimum of formalities, and when Alfred refuses, he can then just spend some time with the man he loves before returning to the war. But events beyond his control are about to throw them both into yet another war, this one in the Pacific. And when a slumbering giant awakes, the world will be shaken to its core.

oh, so i just remembered an AmeTralia au i’ve been thinking about on and off for like, three months at least

so alfred works at a diner and there’s this very cute Australian guy who comes in once a week to have coffee and visit with his little sister (Wy) and one of them always comes to the counter to get their orders. One coffee straight black, one with all “the sugar and ridiculousness”. Alfred assumes sister is drinking the super sweet drink and hot Australian the straight black coffee

one day though, alfred walks by to take someone else’s order and sees that the little sister is drinking coffee straight black and the hot Australian is drinking the super sugary thing and he can barely keep a straight face

which, of course, leads to an interesting conversation when said hot Australian comes up to the counter to pay for the coffees and noticing Alfred can’t stop snickering.
