Fun fact - while listening to woe.begone I have, on 3 separate occasions, accidentally skipped an episode and not noticed for weeks/months

I'd start the episode and be like "hmm this isn't where I remember the last one leaving off. Oh well I guess this is happening now."

A trashcan topples over, splattering garbage across the pavement.

“Always the jerk. Always the problem.”

The trash is kicked up and caught in wind.

“Just ‘cause I’m mad doesn’t mean I’m stupid! Why do I have to apologize when they started it! I told him and then I was right and somehow I’m still the bad guy! I’m always the bad guy!”

The wind brings dark clouds and goosebumps with it.

“Act like they care and then get huffy with me. You said I could have a say, Leo! You lying, bossy, good-for-nothing LIAR-!”

Lightning streaks and thunder crashes.

“What’s the point?” The trash swirls along the alleyway. “They’re not gonna listen. No one ever listens.”

The t-phone rings. He doesn’t look. He simply throws it.

“You wanna yell at me?! Huh?! Tell me how AWFUL I AM?!” It cracks against the wall. “TOO BAD! SEE HOW IT FEELS!”

Sharp panting is drowned by winds. A furious scream. More wind.

“Why can’t it be someone ELSE’S fault for once? Why me! Bet they’re glad I’m gone. Bet their day’s so much better!”

The rain catches the garbage as it goes up, weighing it to the ground.

“They’d be better off without me! I don’t need them! I don’t need anyone!”

The rain travels down green skin, hiding the previous dampness.

“I don’t need anyone.”

He repeats the statement, one final time, when they find him.

His brother crouches to his level, umbrella over both their heads, and says, “The storm’s only going to get worse.”

He holds out his hand. Raph looks away.

“Raph,” Leo says, their brothers behind him. “Let’s go.”

A flying can knocks into his side. His shoulders slump. He nods.

An umbrella goes to Raph’s extended hand.

He shivers when the wind brushes past. He’s soaked, but shielded.

“We’ll talk at the lair.” Donnie promises.

“When you’re dry.” Mikey chimes in.

“Fine,” Raph mutters, looking to the sky.

Water knocks him in the face. The trash smacks his legs.

Leo gently takes his arm, and Raph lets his brothers lead him home.

Adore the little details and bits of foreshadowing hinting at Sam being set to be a future president sprinkled throughout the show. Like it's so subtle but also so clear. It's so important to me for whatever reason.

Based on prev post but I really like morally dubious/unreliable narrator takes on Hanzo and Genji's characters. In fact the whole main Shimada family. I think it's quite boring to portray Sojiro as an evil tyrant to his core. And not a man who himself was most likely burdened by duty shame and guilt he puts his own sons through for the weird ancestral promise of glory and tradition, as well as upkeeping an entire ecosystem of a damn COMMUNITY!!!

I believe that man, as little as we get from him in canon, did have love for his sons and his wife to an extent. Whatever weird twisted way that might have manifested.

Another thing that slightly irks me are the depictions of the boy's mother being some sort of saint consistently in ff I read, it's also a bit boring as well. I can only imagine her and her husband's marriage was one of politics first, and whatever else came from it was a surprise add-on.

Wheres the morally grey depictions of her having some uncontrolled disdain for her kids even though she knows it is not their fault for existing, where the bitter young woman sad that her dreams were cut off because of her 'duties', where the woman who simply got hit with postpartum that never quite left her.

where the hell are the unreliable pov of each of the boys of their parents that are heavily skewed because of the way they grew up. But once they are grown adults they can piece the full thing together.
