i truly don't understand you. you keeping asking for interaction, begging people to let you know they liked what you wrote, and yet you consider kudos, which for some people is all the interaction they're capable of (not that i think you'd accept the reasons for that), are utterly meaningless. you can't use a system that allows for things like kudos and then act like readers are doing it wrong when they interact with a function of that system without coming across like an entitled jerk.
Ah yes, because sending anonymous shitty comments doesn’t make someone a jerk.
I don’t understand why it is so difficult for consumers of fanfiction, a commodity produced by your fandom peers for others to read without compensation, to get the fact that clicking what is, essentially, a like button after reading a story you as an author slaved over for hours, days, weeks, months etc. feels empty and cheap.
It takes the same amount of effort to install this plugin to leave additional kudos as it does to type “reread kudos” in the comment box and click send. If you’re back and reading a story, again, a story that was produced for you to consume for free by an author whose only way of knowing if their story was successful is to look at things like kudos, hits, bookmaks, etc. (platform features designed as quantifiable metrics of creative success); something like a comment, a step beyond passive consumption, means a lot.
When the kudos button was rolled out, Ao3 specifically said that it was meant to replace short comments when people are busy (“We think this will be a great way for people to spread the love during the holiday season, when finding time to read fic in between family commitments can make it hard to leave long comments” — from the 12/16/10 release notes)— moreover, you cannot turn off kudos on your fanfic. This means that the author is forced to accept this like button on their fanfic, even if they don’t want it. As the above quote from ao3’s release indicates, kudos were never meant to replace comments or interacting with authors. The problem is that they have. And, for a lot of authors, kudos are the only for of feedback they get on their stories - oftentimes representative of hours of work - now. That’s a shitty feeling.
So yes, leave a comment.

jacket
everything about you just makes me heat up.
pairing : kuroo x reader
warnings : fluff, moderately nsfw at the end.
summary : you forgot your jacket during a cold weather. Luckily, your boyfriend always brings his volleyball jacket.
a/n : saw a tiktok about haikyuu captain’s lending their jackets to you and my mind went blank when i saw kuroo’s one kdajgd. But yeaa i thought of the idea and i here it izzz. a little nsfw at the end because- owo he’s daddy, periodt.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ kuroo tetsurou ♥
you knew you underestimated the weather when you felt the cold wind brush against your skin, sending shivers down your spine. You wrapped your arms around yourself as you try to warm yourself up. You quickened your pace as you enter the school before running straight into the toilet, standing by the hand dryer to warm your cold fingertips. After some time, you walked out and headed to class when you heard the bell rang
Even after warming your hands in the toilet, it’s basically karma that your seat was right beside the window that was open to it’s fullest. You were basically balling up at your seat as you try to hold in the freezing sensation you’re feeling. you tried asking your friends or classmates to borrow their jackets, some not bringing or just feeling the same situation as you. You felt hopeless so you just sinked into your seat, holding onto yourself as you carried on the day.
When the last bell rang, you sighed with relief before gathering your belongings and keeping them in your bag. You legs were cold and so were your fingertips so you moved in a very slow pace. It wasn’t long before your phone dinged, a notification from your beloved boyfriend of 5 months, kuroo tetsurou. slowly unlocking it, you saw his text message which just makes you want to lie on the ground and lay there, presumed dead.
‘i have practice today, wait for me kitten <3′
his daily petname for you always shoots you right into your heart, but because of the weather today, you felt like it shot you at the wrong place. You slowly dragged yourself to the other side of the classroom, before taking a seat that was far away from the window. You sat there for what it felt like years, scrolling through tiktok and other social media platforms. You checked the time and saw that kuroo’s practice was over. So you grabbed your bag before brisk walking down the stairs to the gym, avoiding all open windows if possible.
At last you arrived, though you felt like dying when you had to walk through a corridor that was opened and having the wind blasting right at you. You walked in to find lev on the ground with yaku throwing balls towards him and yelling at him. The rest of the team already went off to change and there was only lev, yaku, kenma and your boyfriend left in the gym
“kuroo, your girlfriend is here.” Kenma said after he took a short glance at the figure that was standing still by the door. You saw your boyfriend’s head popped out the store room before a smile was plastered onto his face.
“aww, what’s brings you here, sweetheart?” he slowly made his way to you with his arms crossed. It was pretty obvious at this point you were dying from the cold weather, your legs shivering slightly but not to noticeable unless observed closely.
don’t play dumb, i waited for your ass when i could have gone home and take a warm shower from this freezing weather.” all kuroo did was giggled from your respond as he lightly played with the tips of your hair.
“alright, wait here kitten, i’ll get changed. Kenma ! get changed ! LEV, YAKU, CLEAN UP AND THE FUCK OUT THE GYM YOU SCUMBAGS! “ you flinched when kuroo raised his voice, stopping Yaku and Lev from starting a massacre. He turned back to you, giving a smirk before patting your head and leaving the gym with kenma following behind, his eyes glued to his game. Yaku and Lev quickly cleaned up before leaving and you were left alone in the quiet, echoed gym.
You set your bag down on the floor before going over to the bench, your eyes being captured by the red volleyball jacket that was nicely folded on the bench. You picked it up, the cologne from the material was strong enough to reach to your nose though it was an arm-stretched away from you. It was so obvious it belonged to your boyfriend. You slowly looked back at the door, checking if anyone’s around. When the coast is clear, a sloppy giggle left your mouth as you slipped into the oversized jacket. The sleeves were long that it covered your whole arm, only showing your tiny fingers. It draped over your body nicely, but it was really long it hide your skirt as well.
You immediately felt warm. You were in ecstasy as you hug yourself once more, the cold feeling just exiting out of your body. You began to dance around the gym, twirling around as you hummed to your favorite song, your shoes lightly tapping to the beat in your head. You were in your own world you didn’t realise Kuroo was watching you all dancing and twirling, wearing his jacket. He giggled silently before pulling out his phone, capturing the moment in video, as well as snapping a few pictures to use them as his wallpaper.
It wasn’t long before you saw a shadowed figure chilling by the door, having a second glance to realise it was your boyfriend. You jumped from his sudden appearance before giving a weak smile. Kuroo slowly made his way to you, his hands in his pocket.
“oh ? this doesn’t seem to belong to you, hmm?” he teased as he played with the hem of his jacket that was perfectly aligned with your skirt.
“wearing without permission huh, kitten?” he looked up to you with a smirk and you could feel your cheeks heating up. You gulped before averting your eyes to the ground, fiddling with your fingers.
“i uh,,i was cold for the whole day, so uh,,i borrowed your jacket ?? eheheh,,sorry..” you couldn’t look at him in the eye from how embarrassed you felt. But a finger raised your chin, forcing you to look into his eye that was filled with lust. Your cheeks grew redder.
“i don’t mind it, kitten. Borrow it all you want. i like it on you,,,you look gorgeous.” his last words were whispered to your ear, along with a small nibble at your ear lobe. His eyes met yours again, a little closer this time. it wasn’t long before his lips met yours. His hand that was already on your chin cupped the side of you cheek, while the other slowly snaked around your waist, pulling you closer to him. You couldn’t help but wrapped yours around his neck, and tip toed a little to get more taste of his soft lips.
The kiss was short but filled with passion. Breaking it off, you looked back at him in the eye before shooting a warm smile. From head to toe, you felt your body warmer after that short, heated kiss.
“your lips are cold. you really were cold, huh?” you pout and nodded as he gave another small giggle, his bed hair lightly brushing over your face.
“can we go now?” you both turned to kenma who was at the door, game in hand with a face of disgust after walking in to you both smooching. You broke off the grip before walking to your bag, picking it up and walking out the gym with kuroo behind.
“i’m disgusted. i can never see the gym as itself ever again” kenma was practically gagging at the thought of the sight he observed a few minutes ago. Kuroo’s hand snaked around your waist once more, pulling you closer to him. He gave you a smile before looking back at kenma who was busy clicking buttons on his game console.
“well, you have another year here, get used to it.” kenma was already about to throw up from the realization and your ears were filled with kuroo’s ugly laughter, making you hold back yours to avoid starting a commotion.
He looked at the red material that was wrapped around you, before giving off a small smirk. He slightly bend down to your level, his mouth moving closer to your ear.
“red looks really good on you, can’t wait to see what’s underneath though” he cooed before pecking a kiss onto your cheek, making you blush again.
“kuroo, please stop, i’m gonna puke”

__________________________________________________________
I was up on stage rewiring some of the bar lights so that when my dad would go to do the light cues to light up the bottom of the stage, they would hit the boys exactly on cue. Wearing special gloves to ensure that no fingerprints got on the covering or the actual bulb smudged with fingerprints dimming the lights when they go up on cue.
“(Y/n), oh (y/n) baby~” I perked up my head and turned around to see my favorite Queen member the one whom I’ve considered a big brother to me, John Richard Deacon. Known to most as the bassist of Queen, the ‘quiet’ guy, but to me he’s the Disco king, father to three beautiful children, loving and dedicated husband to his lady Veronica and as stated before, my brother from another mother.
“Yes?” I asked wearily.
“You wouldn’t happen to know where my Fender bass is at, would you?” I stopped my work and stood up.
“How dare you would accuse me of stealing it Deacy, I’m hurt.”
“I didn’t say it was you, I just asked if you had seen it.” Oh bugger. “But since I know it was you, where is it?”
“I plead the 5th!”
“You’re in England love, it won’t work here.” I gulped and quickly raced off with Deacy chasing after me. I hopped off the stage and ran through the rows of seats with Deacy right behind me.
I would jump over the seats just to get into the next row before Deacy could grab hold of me. We’d just stare each other down as we’d fake each other out trying to either escape or go on the chase. I then raced towards the end trying to jump back onto the stage.
As I rolled across the stage and just before I could make another run for it, I felt Deacy’s arms wrap around me and pin me down to the ground.
“Gotcha! You gonna tell me where it’s at?” I shook my head and that’s when I felt him start to tickle me.
“Gahh Nohohohoh! Deheheheacy stohahahp!”
“Then fess up love, or I won’t.” he mocked. “I have no problem doing this all night love.”
“Okay! Okay uncle! I’ll tell you!” He ceased his attack then before I could speak I heard the voices of the rest of the band come up from backstage.
“Ahh I see you’ve caught your culprit Deacy darling.” Freddie said.
“And it would seem you got a confession out of her.” Stated Brian.
“And now here we have the evidence. It was in her dressing room up against a guitar platform.” Roger presented Deacy with his bass. He stood up and took his instrument back and I said as I got up.
“Ya’ll are snitches. Good to know I’ll be able to trust you guys in prison.” I joked.
“(Y/n)!” we all turned around and there stood my dad, Queen’s stage designer and main light technician. “You know better than to distract the boys from their rehearsal.”
“Sorry dad.” It was then Roger came up and said.
“Ahh no worries (f/n). She wasn’t distracting us. She never is.” Roger said as he gave me a playful noogie.
A little background information about me. As you know my name is (y/n) (l/n), my mum died of a cocaine overdose back in America 2 years ago. Wanting a new life for me, my dad moved us across the ocean here to London where he got a job working at the Odeon Hammersmith theater. After Queen performed their famed Christmas Eve concert back in ’75, they hired my dad as their permanent stage designer and light director because they loved what he had done to make them look good.
And just to get me out in the work field during my holidays, I helped with lighting all thanks to my dad for teaching me the ropes. That’s kinda what helped Deacy and I connect was our knowledge of electrical engineering, and why the two of us just clicked with each other even being 8 years younger than him.
And of course bonding with the rest of the guys wasn’t hard either. Freddie was the first one to just instantly love me cause of my genius work with the lights, he was even impressed when just last year my dad had allowed me to run the lights all by myself. Brian and I bonded with each other due to our love for animals and Roger and I—we already kinda had that teasing big brother-little sister dynamic.
I’d embarrass him whenever he’d tried to bring in one of his ‘flings’ and he’d be the overbearing big brother when my dad was too busy to pick me up from school and intimidate the boys at my high school. You know that kinda of stuff, but he’s also always there for a comforting shoulder and a good bear hug.
“Alright. But you better get back to work missy. I’m gonna start the light checks in half an hour and if those stage lights aren’t done by then, we’re gonna have an issue here.”
“Don’t worry dad I’ll get it done.” He just grinned at me suspiciously before heading back up to the control panel in the very back of the arena.
“You work too hard darling, we can back you up if you need a break.”
“Thanks for the offer Fred but I’m good. I’m….still kinda grounded for going to that party you invited me too last week.”
“Still? That was over 3 weeks ago.”
“Yeah and punishment is hard labor. But at least it’s not staying in my room with cabin fever.”
“I suppose.”
“Go on, you guys get ready for soundchecks, I’ll be five minutes anyways.” I then went back to the edge of the stage and continued my work on the bar lights.
Afterwards I was up on a high elevation machine to screw in the lights that hung along a track up on the ceiling. Once I got done tightening the last screw so that it wouldn’t fall almost 20ft and really kill one of the guys, I saw all four of them starting their soundchecks. Since I was closest to Brian I couldn’t help but say.
“Hey Bri, I can finally see the top of your head.” He looked up at me and I swore he was probably giving me a bitch face.
“Ha-ha very funny (n/n).” he said.
“Oi (y/n), what’s it look like from up there?” Roger cried out.
“No different, just looks like a waterfall of curls sprouting out of his head.” I told him.
“Alright enough of this, you all had your fun.”
“Aww Bri I’m kidding. You know I love you right?”
“Sure you do.” He sneered sarcastically. I chuckled and pressed the down button on the machine. As I was being lowered down, I radioed my dad.
“Everything’s all good here dad.”
‘Good job sweetie bell. Head backstage and help Robert and Sam with the backdrops.’
“You got it pops.” Once I was successfully down and out of the elevator crane, Derek and Jason wheeled it away and I went to find Bobby and Sam.
It was getting close to concert time and as I was walking along stage right when I saw Deacy in his normal side of stage right practicing his bass and just when he thought no one would be looking, he’d try and work in one of his little Disco moves. Which is why I have given him the endearing nickname, Disco Deacy.
It was then I heard something from up above. I took out my binoculars and noticed that something didn’t look right with the track railing, especially on the left side. There was this creaking and groaning sound and that’s when I had to act fast. Quick as I could I cried out to Deacy and shoved him aside when I felt something hit my head and the next thing I knew, my world went black.
*3rd Person POV*
When John overcame the suddenly shock of suddenly being shoved aside, he turned around and saw probably the most horrifying thing he would ever see in his entire life. There lying underneath the track railing was (y/n).
She wasn’t moving and it didn’t look like she was breathing either. Without a word he rushed over and tried to lift up the railing but it was just too damn heavy with all the extra lights screwed onto it.
“Deacy! Are you alright we just heard a—oh my god!” Freddie gasped in horror.
“Don’t stand there gawking like idiots help me!” Deacy snapped. Soon all the band members, plus a couple of stage handlers all piled into helping Deacy raise the railings to get (y/n) free.
“What in the samhell is going—(Y/N)!!!” Her father soon came in on the scene after hearing the crash. He raced up towards the stage and he ordered. “Okay everyone lift slowly on three; One, two, three!” Soon the seven men began to lift the track with all their might. “Slowly, slowly, okay I can pull her out, keep it off of her.”
He then pulled his daughter out from under the track, finally seeing a small pool of blood on the stage.
“Okay slowly lower it back down. One, two three! Easy! Slowly!” Once the track was on the ground, the four band members surrounded the father and daughter.
“(Y/n)? (N/n), can you hear us?” Roger spoke.
“Here press this to her head.” Brian said as he got his jacket off and handed it to her father.
“Medic!”
“Someone call 999!” Soon the stage medics came in and took (y/n) out of her father’s arms and began checking her over.
Outside the ambulance finally arrived and the medics were loading (y/n) up into the back of the truck.
“Go with her (f/n) darling.” Freddie said. (F/n) turned to Freddie and said.
“But what about the show?”
“For once there won’t be a show. We’ll tell John to cancel the show and refund all the tickets. We won’t have enough time to fix the stage. Plus none of us will be focused after seeing that blood.” Explained Roger.
“Go be with your daughter, we’ll try to get there as fast as we can.” Brian assured him. (F/n) nodded and thanked the four band members for their help, most bands would’ve just left it be and not have gotten involved as they did just now.
He raced up and asked the medic to ride with her, the paramedics allowed him to ride with them and once he entered the back of the van, two medics closed the door and the male tapped the door and almost immediately, the van took off for the hospital.
It took some convincing but Reid managed to work out with the manager of the stadium and they made an announcement to the audience that an accident happened and the show had to be canceled.
Freddie, Brian, Roger and Deacy managed to find (y/n)’s dad in the waiting room. He told the band that she was in surgery right now and come out once they had news. Hours passed and finally by 4am a doctor came by with a clipboard and said.
“(Y/n) (l/n)’s father.” It was then the four band members along with (y/n)’s father all stood up. The doctor was confused until her father walked up to him and said.
“I’m (y/n)’s dad.”
“Your daughter sustained a massive head injury. We did all we could to help her but the best we could do for her now is have her be in an induced coma.”
“Does that mean she’s—” her dad feared to continued but the doctor assured him.
“It’s up to her. She’s stable and all vitals are normal. It’s…..just gonna be up to her whether she wakes up or not.” He sighed heavily but thanked the Doctor.
“Can we see her?” asked Freddie.
“Of course. She’s in room 302, you can visit her now.” They all nodded and headed towards the room.
When the five of them came to the door, they saw (y/n)’s head wrapped in bandages, IV’s in her arms and all these hooks and wires attached to her as the machine showed her blood pressure, brain activity and heartrate.
“(Y/n), (y/n) it’s me. I’m here sweetie bell.” Her dad choked out as he took his daughter’s hand in his. “I’m here baby girl, I’m right here. Oh please let me see those pretty (e/c) eyes of yours. Let me know you’re gonna be okay.” He sniffed and kissed his daughter’s hand.
Taking this harder than anyone else, Deacy stepped out trying to compose himself as he gripped his head in his hands and tried to keep his sobs in, but they kept coming out in chokes.
“Deacy darling?” Deacy sniffled and wiped away his tears but refused to speak to Freddie because he knew if he tried to speak, all that would come out would be sobs. “This was in no way your fault darling, you couldn’t have known the track would collapse.”
“But……but…..”
“No buts darling, you. Didn’t. Cause. The. Collapse.” Freddie emphasized. Deacy sighed heavily and cleaned himself up and he choked out.
“If she doesn’t wake up……I’ll never forgive myself.”
“She will. Our little light goddess is a fighter. She’s like a wild mustang. Can try to break her, but she’ll always keep bucking and fighting.” Freddie brought Deacy into a comforting hug, patting his back and rubbing it comfortingly.
Over three weeks passed and still there wasn’t any changes of (y/n) waking up. Even with the News of the World tour, any chance the boys got when they would perform back in England or they managed to get a day off, they’d go see (y/n) and ask her father if she had shown signs of improvement.
Currently Deacy was in there alone with (y/n). As he listened to the machines that were his sign of her still being ‘alive’.
“I—I uhh….I know I’m not much of a singer, so if—you can somehow hear this I don’t want any teasing. As you know I wrote this for Veronica, but ever since meeting you, some of the lyrics seem to resemble you. You’re….like the sister I’ve always wanted and—I hope this song helps you see it.”
He took out a keyboard piano and placed it in his lap and began playing “You’re my best friend” as well as singing the song to her, hoping that somehow this could help her wake up.
*My POV*
I woke up to hearing the sound of a piano playing and a voice singing. It wasn’t as powerful as Freddie’s, nor as high and strong as Roger’s and Bri’s, so….no it couldn’t be, could it?
Slowly I tried opening my eyes but for some reason they were so heavy to open, it was like my eyelids were made of lead. When I did manage to open them, all I saw was a bright light and white walls. I also saw what looked to be balloons in the room as well. I turned to my right to see dozens upon dozens of flowers, balloons and stuffed animals all in a “GET WELL SOON” package, as written on most of the balloons.
I then turned to my left to see Deacy sitting there with a keyboard on his lap and I finally pieced together that the voice was coming from him. He briefly stopped and looked like he was about to break down crying.
“Don’t stop now Deacy.” I croaked out. Wow how long have I been asleep? His head shot up and the second he looked at me, he looked like he was about to explode with a million emotions. He quickly set aside the keyboard and rolled the chair closer towards my face as he said.
“Hey, oh my god you’re—you’re okay.” I felt him stroke my cheek and he repeatedly yet lovingly kissed over my face repeating ‘you’re okay.’
“A little dizzy and exhausted but yeah I guess.”
“Dizzy? Your vision’s not blurry is it? How many fingers am I holding up?”
“Deacy, relax. No my visions not blurry, and you’re holding up two FYI. What happened?”
“You—you don’t remember?” he asked me concerned.
“That’s a little hazy. I mean last thing I remember was running towards you and my vision went black after that.”
“(Y/n). The track beam that held the lights came down. You pushed me out of the way but got caught under the end of it. It took seven of us to get you out. God you….you were bleeding heavily from your head.”
“But—you guys still did the show last night, right? Did it still happen?”
“Uhh love. That happened over 3 weeks ago.” My eyes widened and that’s when I saw the three remaining members of Queen enter in with more gifts and when they saw me awake, they all proclaimed my name and raced over toward me talking all at once. “Alright! Okay you guys step back, give her some air.” Deacy snapped.
“Oh love you still remember me don’t you?” Freddie begged.
“Of course I still remember you. How could I ever forget Freddie Mercury?” he sighed with relief and said.
“I was just worried that you had gotten memory loss from the bump on your precious noggin. Thank god you didn’t, and don’t you ever scare us like that again you cheeky darling.”
“In his own dramatic way, he’s glad you’re safe and awake (y/n).” Brian assured as he stroked my shoulder.
“Was I—really out for 3 weeks?”
“It felt like forever.” Roger stated solemnly.
“Where’s my dad? Is he okay?”
“He’s fine. Hardly left your side the poor man. Finally took Deacy being here to watch over you for him to finally head home and bathe.” Said Freddie.
“As well as get some rest. He looked like he was ready for an early grave.” Roger stated which earned him a back of the head slap from Deacy.
“It’s okay Deacy. It—couldn’t be hard for him. I mean first he lost my mom, and now the thought of losing me, it must’ve devastated him.”
“Well he won’t have to worry about that anymore. Because you’re back, and soon you’ll be on your feet in no time!” Freddie proclaimed.
“And he won’t be alone in taking care of you, because he’s got 4 willing volunteers to help nurse you until you’re back to normal.” Roger stated as he gently poked my nose as he emphasized the ‘you’.
“And just who would those four unfortunately souls be?” they all proclaimed at my negative answer but I couldn’t help but playfully stick my tongue at them.
And they did as promised. But god never did I imagine what mother hens these guys were. They always hovered over me any chance they got, never leaving my side, making sure I was given my medications, and if any signs of discomfort came they’d even have a fight about who got to be my ‘body pillow’.
Mostly Rog, Bri and Fred were the ones to duke it out, which only allowed Deacy to make his move. So nine times out of ten he was my body pillow leaving the other three to wallow in self-pity of not being my body pillow/teddy bear. As Deacy and I were alone, I told him.
“You know I don’t blame you right?” he sighed heavily.
“I know. But seeing you on the ground, blood pooling out from your head. I should’ve heard the thing snapping off. I’d give anything for it to have been me and not you.”
“But what if you had died? Where would that leave Veronica? Your boys, your baby girl, the band, me? Deacy you are valued and the most important person in so many people’s lives. I’d never forgive myself if it had been you in that bed when I knew I could’ve saved you.” He gently stroked the back of my head and kissed my forehead.
“Just promise me never do something that reckless again.”
“I’ll try, being a stagehand is dangerous business.”
“I’ll make you my assistant or fashion designer if it means you’ll be safe. And you know I can make that happen.”
“Yeah but it’d totally backfire cause for one I’ve got 10 left fingers when it comes to drawing, and I’d be the worst assistant ever.” He grinned and gently bopped my nose.
“I don’t think you would. Veronica loves you and she knows you’d give me every message she had regarding her or the kids.” I softly smiled and leaned against his chest listening to his heartbeat.
“Sing me a lullaby.”
“Love you know I can’t sing.”
“I know, but you sang to me at the hospital three days ago.”
“That was when I felt you wouldn’t be able to hear me.”
“C’mon pwease?” I begged with the puppy dog eyes. “Injured girl with a concussion demands her favorite Queen member sing to her.” He sighed but held me close rubbing my shoulder with his thumb and first hummed the opening notes to my favorite Beatles song “Here comes the sun”.
I soon heard him beginning to sing softly. Now while he may not have a strong voice and sure it cracked at some parts, mainly when the range went a little higher, Deacy still had a descent voice. And when he would sing in a normal, low range tone to fit his range, it actually sounded good. Soon enough his voice sent me off into dreamland.
“Goodnight poppet. Sleep well.” Was the last thing I heard before feeling a kiss right over the very spot where I had been hit.

Lioz Amar had booked a hotel online for a trip to Barcelona. He specified that he needed a walk-in shower but when he got to the room, he discovered it only had a bathtub.
That might have been a disappointment but not a deal breaker for most people. But Amar is not most people. In 2011, he was wounded during his service in the Israel Defense Forces and, since the age of 21, requires a wheelchair to get around.
“I went to the front desk and I said I need a roll-in shower,” Amar tells ISRAEL21c. “The guy brings out a ‘certificate of accessibility’ and says that this is an acceptable room. I said to him, put that paper aside for a second and think of me.”
The problem, Amar explains, is that there are no standards. A hotel can advertise that it’s accessible but how high is the bed? Is there braille on the elevator buttons? If there’s a knock on the door, will the lamp blink?
Web-based booking forms rarely go into such detail. Calling every hotel in town before traveling would be an overwhelming task.
Amar set out to fix that by creating an online travel site for people with disabilities. He called the site Travaxy, a mashup of “travel” and “accessibility.”
Every hotel on the site is vetted using a digital survey. And Travaxy displays only direct flights; you don’t want to get stuck in a strange airport overnight because of a missed connection while your wheelchair is still in transit.
Travaxy hasn’t built its own booking engine. “We have the same connections as at Booking.com or Expedia. On top of that, we have our own layer of hotels,” Amar explains.
Travaxy goes above and beyond online booking in many cases. “A few days ago, a woman called and wanted to do a bar mitzvah trip for her son in Israel, but her husband was in an electric wheelchair. She couldn’t find a bus that could accommodate the wheelchair at a reasonable price. I said, ‘Let me try.’ After five minutes, I came back with an offer. She said, ‘Book it now.’ Afterward she wrote to me that everything was perfect, especially the way the driver gracefully handled the father’s needs.”
Booking via Travaxy also means if a disabled traveler runs into trouble – for example, his or her wheelchair breaks in transit (something Amar says “happens at one time to everyone with a disability”) – Travaxy can send a replacement part or an entire chair.

15% of world population is disabled
The difference between Travaxy and mainstream travel sites is apparent as soon as you try to book a flight or hotel.
You are asked what your disability is, whether you need assistance getting to the gate or disembarking, whether your wheelchair is manual or battery operated (and what kind of battery it has, important when checking the chair as luggage), and even the door width you require.
Can’t you make similar requests on popular travel booking sites? “They say you can do it,” Amar replies. “It’s politically correct to say so, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t really happen.”
Travaxy has a staff person confirm every order offline. “We make sure that the request is getting noticed. So far, we’ve had zero mistakes,” Amar reports after the first month of operation, when the number of bookings was still in the hundreds.
Amar is confident those numbers will grow. “Fifteen percent of the world population is disabled,” he claims. “That’s 516 million people in developed countries. And they travel two to four times more than the usual traveler.”
Moreover, 80% of disabled people “travel with two or more people with them who are not disabled.” In 2017, disabled people booked 190 million holidays, Amar mentioned during an interview he gave to Israel’s Channel 12.
Paralympic champ
Amar has become one of those frequent travelers. “When I was first injured, I found myself in bed saying, ‘I’m over, I’m screwed, I’m only half a person. What’s the point?’ I was like that for a year and a half. It was catastrophic for me.”
Just when he was at his lowest, Amar discovered swimming as part of his rehabilitation process. “I went into the pool, started to swim. I was free and fast. I could swim without being tied into a wheelchair. And people noticed. They said, ‘You swim very fast; you need to talk to the coach.’”
Amar went on to become a Paralympic champion, coming in seventh in the 100-meter breaststroke in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing. “Life as an athlete requires quite a lot of travel around the world,” he notes.
Sport also turned around another aspect in Amar’s life. He met the woman who would become his wife, Natalie, at a rugby tournament for wheelchair players. “The guys were playing, and she came to see a game. We saw each other, clicked, and we haven’t left each other since.” The couple now has a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
Amar worked for a while as a swimming instructor. He later picked up programming skills and found himself, in 2016, as “an entrepreneur who doesn’t know how to be an entrepreneur, at least at first.” Amar smartly surrounded himself with expertise.
His business partner, Michal Ben Assage, worked for 24 years in the travel industry, most recently at Amadeus, the world’s largest business-to-business travel platform.“She came with knowledge from the agent side. I came with the technology and the disability side,” Amar says.
Travaxy also partnered with the Daka90 Israeli “last minute” travel site.
“We’re very different from what they usually do,” Amar says. “People with disabilities don’t generally look to book a flight for tomorrow. But they invested in us. They were cool enough to say that no one is treating this community right.”
Travaxy, which has a team of eight, operates out of Daka90’s Tel Aviv office, home of inhouse accelerator Daka90 Labs.
Other strategic partners include Itai Green, CEO of Israel Travel Tech Startups, an incubator for tourism startups; and Mediterranean Towers Ventures, the investment arm of a company that runs luxury senior homes in Israel. Older people often have accessibility needs when traveling.
Travaxy raised $480,000 via the ExitValley Israeli crowdfunding platform. Half of the money came from Mediterranean Towers Ventures in exchange for a 10% stake in the company. Arik Pinto, the retiring CEO of Bank Hapoalim, who walks with a cane since suffering from polio as a child, also invested. Travaxy is now looking to raise another $2 million.
Travaxy charges a commission on bookings, just like other online travel sites, fueling new features and new locations. The need to vet accommodations individually has kept the company from expanding willy-nilly: currently, you can book flights or hotels in Tel Aviv, New York, London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Barcelona.
Thailand is next, Amar says. “It’s a very popular destination but not very accessible. You need to know where you’re going and who will serve you. But once you make the relationships, the culture there is to help. They don’t mind me being in a wheelchair as long as I can bring more customers!”

Prompt number: 12. “What if I don’t see it?”
Fandom : DCU
Rating: General Audience
Warnings/Tags: No Warnings/ No Powers AU
Summary :
Dick spotted bloodstains by the Ferris wheel that trails from the bottom cabin to the very top one. What he found inside is a boy can't be older than 15, bleeding down from the stomach, and even so, he refuses to come down from the Cabin.
“I want to see the stars, one last time, just... one last time.” The boy still muses upon the sky, mesmerized. Dick looks up, and the starless sky that’s tinted red from light pollution. Then, with great sorrow and resignation, the boy whimpers, “You ruin that from me.”

Dick hears metal clashing and creaking from the pathway towards the entrance area. It could be something, or it could be nothing. In this city of Bludhaven, anything can happen. Maybe it’s just a bird, or trespassing kids – that one is often –, and the worst ones will be if someone plants a bomb, that won’t be the first too.
Just to be safe, Dick turns on his radio and held it a finger away from his lips, “Come in, Wally.”
“This is Wally.”
“I hear a voice near the Ferris wheel, can you cover my grounds for me? I’m going to check it out.”
“Okay, be careful blue wing.”
“You too, speedy.”
The Ferris wheel is not the highest one in town, but it’s always busy during the weekends and holiday season. As he walks down the path, one of the trash bin tips over and spilled across the granite bricks.
Dick leaves that worry later when he sees some sort of stain on the metal structures. The contraption is painted all over, from the carriages to the metal structures in blues and yellows. Going in closer with the help of his flashlight, he sees an odd stain starting from the entrance platform that trails to the support tower and ends at the cabin on top. Red stains.
Dick’s first guess is that someone climbed it to the top. It’s possible, he has seen the maintenance guy climbs it over. Looking closer to the stain on the carriage right on in front of the platform, it seems like blood. He leans closer and sniffs the stain, it smells like iron, but it could’ve been the metal. Still, with the bizarre stain, there’s someone up there. With the probability that it’s blood, that person could be injured. Despite being a disappointingly small Ferris wheel, it’s still a high climb.
Whoever it is at the top cabin is either hiding from something or already dead. Either way, it’s his job to check it out.
“Come in Wally, I think see blood on the Ferris wheel.”
The radio buzzes and clears, “Do you need me for back up?”
Dick thinks it over and follows his gut.
“No, but can you look around the borders? He’s pouring down heavy, maybe he came from the haunted house.”
“Copy that Blue Jay.” Wally signed off.
Dick put his radio back on the holster hanging by the belt. He tips the end of the flashlight up to where the carriage where the bloodstain ends.
“Someone there?” Dick shouts out.
No reply.
“Hello? I can see your blood all over this thing, are you injured?”
Still nothing.
“Want me to call 911?”
Not even a creak on the carriage.
Dick grips the sets of keys hanging on the other side of his hip, grabbing the one for Ferris wheel’s control board and enter the room on the side of the platform.
“I’m going to turn the Ferris wheel on!” Dick warned to probably nothing.
Lights glare from the ride. Pink, yellow and green shine from the rows of lightbulbs on the metal crossmember, three lightbulbs on the hub of the wheel, fairy lights on the side of the cabins, and more lightbulbs on the legs of the support tower. The song came up next, your basic ‘carnival music’ that they got on youtube.
The wheel starts turning, the brightly colored carriages turn until the cabin where the blood trail ends are in the bottom.
The cabin is a small windowless four-seater, sets of two facing each other, with a metal railing that reaches your chest as the only safety precaution.
Dick flash his lights inside the bloody cabin, expecting the worst, and what’s inside exceed his worst.
There’s a pool of blood at the bottom of the cabin, pouring from the seat, where a boy lays limp across the two-seaters. Damp dark hair sticks on half his face, barely showing it. Dick’s attention goes right towards the damp part of the hoodie where the boy’s bloody hands are clutching, the source of all the red.
“Oh my god, how did you even get there.”
His hands reach out to the boy, and not even halfway towards him, the boy grunts and shows his eyes.
“Don’t touch me,” the boy hisses, glints of wary in his eyes like a feral kitten.
“You’re injured an-”
His mouth freeze open when he –a boy that couldn’t be older than 15– hold a gun to his face.
“Put... put me... back up.” The boy says between panting breath. His eyes a pale blue, even though his blood pools at the bottom of the bright orange carriage, he still has the energy to glare at Dick.
“Kid, if you look down, you can see how much blood you’re losing. You need medical help,” he presses firmly, but he’s scared out of his life for the boy in front of him. He doesn’t know how much this boy bleed before he steps into the carriage, but he might not make it just judging by the pool of blood Dick sees.
“I fucking know that, why do you think I’m pressing on my wounds?” The boy shouts, flailing the gun. “Just... Just let me... Put me back up now!” he growls, taking off the safety of his gun. “Please,” he continues after seeing that Dick is unfazed.
The boy doesn’t hold out the gun too long. His arm gave up and the gun falls to the pool of his blood.
Dick takes the gun in a heartbeat, throwing it away to the bushes then scoops the boy in his arms. In a few wide strides, he carries the boy down the platform’s stairs and lays him down on the brick pathway. The kid is wearing a red hoodie, and a darker red is coming from the side of his stomach, right where the boy’s hand resides.
“Put me... put me back,” he croaks, “Put me back and get me up there.”
“Nope, it’s not your time yet kid.” Dick scrunch up the kid’s hoodie and press on the wound along with the boy’s hand. Dick’s other hand reaches out to his radio, smearing the matte black surface with a thin red hue.
“Wally, I need you to call the ambulance.”
“Are you hurt?” Wally sounds worried.
“No, there’s a kid on the Ferris wheel, he’s bleeding a lot.”
“Okay, right, okay I-I’ll bring first aid kit.”
“Call the ambulance first, he’s rapidly losing blood.”
The other side sounds clamorous and clatter, Wally’s breathing hard like he’s running, “Aah shit, okay, I’ll call ‘em. I’ll be there after bringing some kit, put pressure on it!” and he abruptly hangs up.
A hand grabbed his collar, the same hand that couldn’t even hold the gun straight.
“No, no hospital,” The boy hisses.
“Yes hospital, you’re dying!” his heart starts racing, trying to focus on pressing the wound to calm himself. His hands began to feel cold, trembling when he realized the weight of the situation.
“I just want to be up there,” the boy looks at the top of the Ferris wheel. Colorful lights shine on his adolescent face.
Only then Dick could see his face in detail. Through the colorful lights, his eyes stay blue. There are tear stains down his pale face. Blue-ish bruise peeks on the neckline. Eyes empty as he stares through matter. The boy’s hand no longer presses on the wound, both lay limp between his body. Slowly, he breathes. Breathing out one long sigh, a tear escaped from his left eye.
Upon seeing the barely teen boy, the feeling that resides is fear.
“What’s your name?” Dick asked, leaning close, hoping to get the boy’s attention. Hoping to ignite some kind of light behind his eyes.
It’s futile. “I want to see the stars, one last time, just... one last time.” The boy still muses upon the sky, mesmerized.
Dick looks up, and the starless sky that’s tinted red from light pollution.
Then, with great sorrow and resignation, the boy whimpers, “You ruin that from me.”
Dick’s body stiffens and rigid when electricity strikes his nerves. Pain concentrated from the exposed part of his neck. His body twitched into a spastic mess on the ground. His vision caught the kid standing above him, throwing a taser he recognizes his before he finally passed out.
+++++++
“I told you before, there’s nothing there.”
“How could it not be there!” Dick exclaimed frustratingly, as he keeps clicking the rewind button, replaying the same footage over and over again.
It’s been 30 minutes since Dick came into the surveillance room, which is a small room with three split screens. The only one in charge of the screens is Barbara and some other guy Dick doesn’t know covers dayshift.
There are only a few minutes till the opening time, and Dick is still in his blood-stained uniform. A few dots on his chest, and the ones on his hands he had washed out. Dick has been in this room for 30 minutes and their shift had finished 30 minutes ago.
“I hate to ask, but...” Barbara doesn’t bother to finish, Dick knows what she meant.
“This isn’t the doppelganger incident, I’m not making this up!” Dick Rebukes.
“Okay, okay,” Barbara resigned, not without skepticism.
“I swear, he was running towards behind the Ferris wheel, but!” Dick rewinds the footage shooting towards the Ferris wheel entrance when he replayed it. The footage displays the bottom half of the ride, the platform to step in and the first half of the waiting line. Nothing changes in the footage, not even the grass by the corner.
“Where are the footage where I came in and turn the Ferris wheel on?” Dick points aggressively towards the screen. It buzzes and glitz in every loud tap. “And when I take the boy from the carriage? The Ferris wheel isn’t even on the entire time in this footage!”
“Maybe it’s a glitch, you knew boss’ too cheap to buy better stuff. I’ll write a note to the day-shifters to take a look at it.”
Huffing defeatedly, Dick finally sits back, making the chair creaks, “What am I going to do now? The boy was badly hurt, look at my shirt! There’s blood everywhere!”
“The paramedics say they’ll get back to us for the DNA result. I gave them my number, all we can do is wait.”
“Fine,” Dick exhaled his frustration and stands up abruptly. When looks at Barbara, his annoyance goes down the drain, “Thank you for waiting on me.”
Barbara quirks up her pale pink lips, “That’s why I’m here Dickie. C’mon, we had a long day, let’s get back home.”
++++
The DNA test result came. Barbara told Dick as soon as graveyard shift starts.
“Unregistered?” Dick almost shouts, his voice echo’s through the empty park.
“Uh-huh, the kid is not in the system,” Barbara adds.
“Is it about yesterday’s Ferris wheel ghost boy?” Wally chirps in.
“He’s not a ghost! He’s real, I carried his bloody body in my arms!” Dick tensed on the neck, veins showing under the skin.
“Okay! I’m just jokin’. It’s what the day shifters called it.”
Rubbing his face, Dick breathed out the rest of his frustration, “I just want to know if that kid is alright. That’s all.”
Wally and Barbara share a knowing look to each other, then back to their best friend with a pitying smile.
“Let’s hope he is,” Barbara comforted.
“I bet he is if he got the strength to stand up and tase you, he’ll be fine. Heck, maybe he’ll be back for revenge when you stop him from getting a free ride,” Wally joked.
That one makes Dick smile. He rubs the tenseness on the back of his neck off and looks up from staring at his shoes.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
After their night shift is done and Dick was waiting for Wally by the entrance gate. After taking two steps outside of the locker room, Barbara pulled Wally to the side, whispering.
“Yesterday, did you see the Ferris wheel turned on?”
Wally smiled nervously, “I dunno babs, I was around the walls when Dick called in.”
“This is serious Wally,” Barbara warned. “The Ferris wheel can be seen from your location, and I don’t think the surveillance system is glitchy. I can see your footage just alright when the Ferris wheel allegedly turned on because I didn’t see it. So, did you see it turned on or not.”
Sighing, Wally looks down at his tennis shoes, “No. Not once in the entire night.”

Welcome to Grail Academy - Chapter Twenty-eight: Season of the Witch
“There’s going to be hell to pay, I can guarantee you that much.” Esmerelda reapplied her lipstick in the reflection of Bernard’s sunglasses, who strained his neck down to meet her level. Nico looked up at the intimidating monument that stood as a symbol of political power in Calicem, city hall, as his leader fixed her makeup. “Okay, I know I’m Mister Bad Idea, but...this seems like a REALLY bad idea,” He looked back to his teammates, anxious, “Are you sure you can pull this off, babe?”
Esmerelda flipped her hair and spun around, giving Bernard the signal that he no longer had to hunch down and act as a human mirror for her. “Darling, would I have worn my Ruby Red lipstick instead of my Cherry Blossom lipstick if I didn’t believe we could do this?” Nico looked past her to his partner for an answer, but Bernard only shrugged. “I guess not…” Nico cringed to himself as the words escaped his mouth, and adjusted the sunglasses on his own face. Esmerelda swiftly popped the collar of her trench coat, snapped her fingers, and the boys followed her as they hiked up the marble stairs that led to city hall.
There was plenty of hustle and bustle going on in the lobby, interns rushing to grab coffee for disrespectful supervisors, tired businessmen quietly arguing with each other about various political endeavours, unamused security guards standing watch near the front desk, where one was currently trying his luck at flirting with the receptionist. She giggled as the security guard spouted some terrible pick-up line, until a clawed hand slammed down on the desk’s counter. Esmerelda tapped her manicured fingers against the counter impatiently, with Bernard and Nico standing stoic with their arms crossed behind her. “Am I interrupting?” she quipped, and the security guard quickly backed away towards his coworkers. She stared daggers at him until he bumped into the back of the wall, at which point she turned back to address the receptionist. “I’m sorry, ma’am. How can I help you?”
“We’re here for the birthday party. We’re the dancers, yes? You’ve been told?” Suddenly, Esmerelda articulated through a foreign accent, keeping her scowl a permanent expression. “Birthday…? I’m sorry, I don’t have anything like that on the schedule.” The receptionist nervously flipped through a binder as she stuttered her apology.
“What!? Do you know who we are? We are the Toe Tappers! We are booked years in advance!” She roared and spun around to look at her teammates, who both shook their heads in disappointment. Bernard repeated Esmerelda’s exclamation at the woman behind the desk, “Years.”
“I-I truly am sorry, ma’am, but I don’t have you on the visitor list! What are your names?”
Esmerelda pointed a finger at each of the boys, and herself, shouting, “Gunther, Gustav, and Greta! I cannot believe this. The governor calls us all the way from Atlas and he does not even bother to put us on the list. This is unforgivable!” Nico and Bernard chimed in together, “Unforgivable.”
She snapped her fingers, and Nico hefted a boombox onto his shoulder. “You will be punished for this. You will experience the full power of the Toe Tappers rage!” With the press of a button, the boombox started to loudly play techno dance music, and the trio began to vogue with such intensity and aggression that the other people in the lobby actually began to back away, for fear of getting caught in the crossfire of body movements. Frantically, the receptionist dialed a number on the front desk scroll, and stammered a plea for help. “P-please, they’re dancing at me! It’s terrible dancing, but it’s very scary!” Whoever was on the other line chortled hysterically and hung up, and the woman stood up. Laughing nervously, she waved the dancers toward the elevator. “M-my apologies, I must have made a mistake. Yes, here you are,” she tapped a finger on the visitor list, where none of their fake aliases were written, “the Toe Tappers! Go right ahead, the governor’s office is on the fourth floor.” The three of them stopped their angry dancing abruptly, and the music paused. Esmerelda flipped her hair and huffed at the woman, before snapping her fingers again and strutting to the elevator with Bernard and Nico following behind. “Hmph, I should think to make a complaint about the reception service in this place!” She called out as her heels clicked against the stone floors. The three of them filed into the elevator, and once the doors closed, they all let out a collective sigh of relief.
“I can’t believe that worked, merde…” Bernard mumbled and pulled his sunglasses off. Esmerelda chuckled, “I was the head of the drama club at my elementary school. You’re looking at the lead actress in our class’s production of Othello~” She gave a small wink to them, and both Bernard and Nico gave her applause for her acting.
-----------------
Later that night, the wheels of the train squealed across the tracks as orange sparks shot out from between the metal, slowing the cars to a stop at the station. Ivan and Beau hugged before fist-bumping, standing at the platform. “Where are you going for the break?” Ivan asked, zipping up his winter coat. Beau turned around to look at Vert, who was trying (without success) to get comfortable on a bench where he was trapped by a jetlagged tourist snoring against his shoulder. “Me and Vert are gonna visit his brothers for the holidays! It’s about time he introduced his girlfriend to his family.”
Beau smiled when she saw Iris approaching them, her giant suitcase rolling on its metallic wheels as she dragged it along. Along with this, she had a duffle bag hanging off her shoulder, a backpack, a second suitcase under her arm, and a guitar case strapped on top. She did her best to carry all her luggage, but it only took a small crack between tiles for her to tumble over and become buried in a pile of baggage. She thrusted her arm upwards and climbed out of the prison of suitcases, and explained, “I have to meet my family back home for the town festival. We always perform in the parade, and they would kill me if I missed it.” Ivan and Beau helped Iris stack her luggage on a trolley, and Ivan sat down on the stack like a throne. “I’m staying in Calicem, I got suspended again so I have to clean all the graffiti off the bathroom stalls at school. It’ll probably take me the rest of the semester.” He pouted, and Iris gave him a supportive pat on the back.
The train conductor shouted from a small window, announcing the departure of the train, and Vert wiggled his way off the bench and headed to one of the cars. “Well, that’s our ride” Beau said, looking between her friends. Vert motioned for his girlfriend to hurry onto the train car, and she trotted into his arms, where they both waved goodbye as the train pulled out of the station. Soon it was Iris’s turn to say goodbye, then waves of other classmates. It was almost midnight when Ivan waved goodbye to team SAND as they jumped onto the back of the last train car, calling out “See you next semester!”
The station was empty. Ivan was dreading the long, cold walk back to campus, and he dreaded the janitorial duties professor Kismet had in store for him even more. He sighed and stuffed his hands into his pockets, trudging through the snow back home. That is, until a low rumbling sound resonated through the empty streets of the city. It got louder and louder, Ivan could feel it growling in his chest. Then, a bright light, sweeping over the street like a tidal wave. It passed over and overwhelmed his eyes and ears, and then all he could see was white.
---------------
Beau slept quietly with her head against the window of the train, resting as the skyscrapers and office buildings rushed by. Vert threw his parka over her lap to keep her arm, and smiled. He couldn’t hear the rumbling over the vibrations of the train, the rickety wheels bouncing on the tracks. The bright light that shone like a beacon didn’t stir Beau from her slumber, but it was the only warning that Vert identified before everything went white.
-----------------
Iris flipped to a clean page in her notebook, and began to write down notes to an in-progress song. She chewed on the eraser of her pencil as she thought of lyrics, stuck on trying to find a word that rhymes with catacomb. The sudden growing light blinded her, making her drop the pencil from her mouth to try and shield her eyes.
------------------
Team BIVI awoke in their dorm room, tucked under the blankets of their beds, wearing their pajamas from the night before. They all yawned and looked at each other, confused. “...Huh. Weird.” Ivan stated, then shrugged and rolled over to go back to sleep.
------------------
If you never spoke to him, Buck would look like just another ne’er-do-well. Just another ghost roaming the city, just another reminder to be grateful for what you have. He trudged through the streets of Calicem with nothing but old black jeans, a stolen brown corduroy coat, a dirty white shirt, and a backpack carrying his essentials. A stack of thick envelopes held together by a rubber band, a hunting knife gifted to him by his father, a journal marked up with a collection of theses and failed chemistry experiments, a rusted thermus housing the spare change that constituted as his life savings, all bounced around in the pack dangling off his shoulder. He was often seen scribbling away in his notebooks, with his knees pulled close to his chest as a makeshift desk to write upon. That is, when he wasn’t pedaling furiously on his bike to breach hills and potholes in the road as he made deliveries. He kept himself as well-hidden at night as he did the names of his father’s business associates. He understood the dangers of being an errand boy for the local kingpin, the secrets he’d have to keep, and he’d learned to survive. During the day: on street corners, in parks. At night: under bridges, in alleys. Just another ne’er-do-well. Nobody would suspect a thing.
All Scarlet could think about as he and his team packed their things and loaded them into the back of a truck, was the fact that Buck had a head start on packing. Because his room was already empty. His journals already taped shut inside an unmarked cardboard box, his photos already mailed to his father under an anonymous address, his clothes already folded neatly at the bottom of Scarlet’s duffel bag, a hidden momento of times long passed.
Yorick steadied his breathing, in through the nose, out through the mouth. He stood in the center of the factory floor, now empty and hollow. There was a line of unmarked trucks waiting just outside the perimeter of the factory’s fence, vibrating from the unified low rumble of their engines as the drivers stared at the building in anticipation. Scarlet watched with the rest of the workers as the factory suddenly ignited in fire, blue flames spitting from the top of the smokestacks and shattering the windows in an explosion of glass and rubble. Sable, who stood behind her faithful militia near another truck with Hari in the driver’s seat, threw a cloak over her shoulders and lifted the hood up. Only moments later, Yorick emerged from the brush of the surrounding field and wiggled through a hole in the fence, giving the crowd a thumbs up. Sable bellowed, “Let’s move out, while there’s still daylight.” She stepped into the truck and, one by one, each vehicle vacated the premises in a line, followed by the last truck with RYSQ riding inside. “I have to admit,” Rettah commented, sliding her hand onto Yorick’s thigh, which made him shiver with excitement, “you do make cleanups a lot faster.” She giggled, and Yorick laughed shyly along with her, as Scarlet watched the burning facility crumble and grow farther and farther away in the distance. He resisted rolling his eyes at the not-so-subtle flirting, instead tuning them out and focusing on the passing trees. Buck would have liked this.

How Technology is Transforming Health and Fitness - By Jimmy Mitchell
We are now a month into the new year. It is the time when our New Year’s resolutions and “new year, new me” fads usually dissolve into our old habits. Take two of the most common resolutions, dieting and exercising, for example. After weeks of lounging and excessive eating during the holiday season, most people are guilty and strive to lose that weight and eat healthier, a term commonly referred to as holiday remorse. As the holidays fade in our memories, so do the drivers for our resolutions. People lose the self-motivation and enthusiasm that inspired the treks to the gym and skipping out on our favorites treats. In fact, according to a U.S. News study, approximately 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail by February. However, today’s modern technology and its online communities are influencing and promoting people’s health and fitness choices all around us in many ways.
FitBit and Apple Watch
FitBit and Apple Watch are popular Christmas gifts to encourage a more active lifestyle. While both function as fashionable accessories, the FitBit and Apple Watch serve as tracking mechanisms to log a range of data, including calories burned, heart rate, steps taken, and distance traveled. They also show you how many minutes you’ve been active during the day. These devices serve as constant reminders not only to reach your daily activity goals, but also keep moving towards your fitness progression. The coolest feature about the FitBit and Apple Watch is probably the compatibility of the products and the data sharing between friends. You can sync your FitBit account to various third party health apps on the Apple Watch and vice versa, allowing for easy storage and transfer of data. You can also share data between friends on the Apple Watch. A few of my friends exchanged phone numbers and, with a click of a button, shared how many calories they each had burned that day. It’s a great way to display your daily progress and encourage your friends. These neat accessories are tracking our every move, every step, and every calorie towards our goals.
Social Media
Without a doubt, the leading motivator for health and fitness is social media. Whether it’s Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, or Facebook, people share and consume many aspects of daily life in their feeds. While you’re sitting on your couch scrolling through Instagram or Twitter, there’s a good chance you’ll find something that’ll motivate you to be active. These “motivators” appear in your feeds in many different ways. If you follow a celebrity or famous athlete, like Ariana Grande or LeBron James, you’ll likely find a post of a photo-shoot or weight lifting session. Additionally, Instagram models showcase their physique that create a sense of self-consciousness and envy (which could be interpreted as good or bad). We follow these people because we are fans. We are fans of their talents and admire the people the have become. They inspire us to reach our full potential and we aspire to be just like them.
Fitness clubs and companies also take advantage of social media with advertisements to clog newsfeeds with promotions and discount for memberships. Ads are usually annoying when they’re constantly in our face. Nevertheless, they grab our attention. There are the classic company ads, like Nike and Under Armour, that feature both famous athletes and regular people that can both pursue athletic greatness. Then, there are the ads for gyms and fitness centers, including Equinox, SoulCycle, and Barry’s Bootcamp that are popular to join with friends. These brands are recognizable, interesting, and trendy. These ads, besides promoting a brand, bring awareness to the importance of health and fitness and influence active life choices.
Above all, no one motivates better than your friends and family. Your close social network shares similar influences from celebrities, athletes, and popular fitness trends and personalizes them to form a community of common interests and goals. Seeing a friend post their workout experience and results stimulates conversation and support about collective health and fitness goals. These posts and stories are particularly powerful on specific fitness and food accounts. These accounts allow someone to show progression and empower people to make the same life-changing decisions. One of my old roommates, for example, struggled with his weight and eating habits in high school. With his football career ending and college approaching, he decided to transform his lifestyle and created a personalized workout account after joining CrossFit. He tracked his progression, shared his story, and displayed his incredible results. He is now in incredible shape and on a healthier vegetarian-like diet. Additionally, my sister, Bridget, competes for her high school varsity basketball team, but she was self-conscious about her unhealthy eating habits. Therefore, she committed to an organic diet and created an Instagram food account, called tastyandnatural (give it a follow!) to share her new healthier alternatives. These accounts, and social media as a whole, provide a powerful platform for people to share stories about health and fitness and create an interactive community of support and inspiration to pursue active goals.
Exercise at Home
When you don’t have the time or money for those expensive and cumbersome treks to your local gym, modern technology has created great workouts without leaving your home. Trendy indoor machinery, like the Peloton bike, allows you to stream daily live cycling classes from the company’s New York City studio right in your living room. You get an intensive workout from a real instructor on your time whenever is most convenient. Similarly, DVD workout packages permit the same flexibility, while selecting from a range of exercises recorded by fitness professionals. I own both P90X and Insanity and have gotten exceptional workouts that last anywhere from 15 minutes to over an hour. Additionally, both of these DVD sets are associated with BeachBody, an online community where people can talk about their active lifestyles, offer support, and motivate others to reach loftier goals. BeachBody also offers a nutrition guide that provides healthy dietary options to create a meal plan. Today’s world is fast pace and all about convenience and efficiency. Technology has brought the gym into our homes so that we not only never miss a workout, but we get a workout that leaves us exhausted, yet accomplished.
The Results?
What technology has done with exercise is that it has transformed it from a laborious obligation to a socialized trend. Tech has created an online and interactive community that people want to be a part of. Tech has brought your workout into your home. Tech has brought your workout everywhere you go. Tech has taken the excuses of inconvenience and burden out of the equation. Thanks to technology, health and fitness is both personal and interpersonal, something we can share and learn from others. A collective resolution for all.

Affiliate Bots Review: The New 17 Automated Software Package That Generates PROVEN Profits - My 2019 Review After Purchase
Today I will be presenting what I believe to be one of the most powerful affiliate marketing resources to be released in the last year. I will be reviewing the phenomenon appropriately titled, "Affiliate Bots”. If you are an internet marketer trying your hardest to get sales online with no results. This is the internet marketing software package for you. Or if you are simply someone wanting to get started making money online but don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on complicated software, this is Absolutely for you! Also be sure to check out my full review of Wealthy Affiliate University, the 1# Online Business University. It teaches people around the globe how to build a profitable online business around what they're passionate about! Affiliate Bots Video How This Software Package Will Help Your Business I predict that after you’ve gotten your hands on this software bundle, and started to use it, you will never look at online marketing the same.
I’ve been an internet marketer for years and this has given me renewed hope that there really is “an easier way” to get the job done! If you follow Chris' instructions, watch his tutorials (which are very short and understandable), you will have tools that can convert your business from a time hog, into a money-making cash machine! The process is very simple: 1. Pick a product (The software makes this easy, and displays options from numerous product marketplaces with analytical data) 2. Use the script creator, then the "Rapid Video Creator" to make professional videos in 60 seconds. (Tapping into YouTube and Google rankings you previously would never have!) You don't even have to have a website to do this! 3. Decide on the keyword you want to rank, and upload. 4. Rinse and repeat! That’s it! This can be repeated thousands of times since there is virtually no end to the number of affiliate products out there How Affiliate Bots Has Solved My Automating Problems! I first came across this affiliate marketing resource as I was researching the best-selling and most popular affiliate products. This is one of the best-selling on the top affiliate networks currently, and it’s not hard to see why.
The creator(s) claim that they make over $900 dollars a day using only the tools provided within this package. After I watched his presentation, I became convinced that this was the automation I needed for my business! Along with an appealing 17 “software Auto Bots” included in this package, there was a plethora of “bonuses” included. Some of these included access to even more premium resources and guides on how to use everything. These make it a breeze to start incorporating your new “autobots” into your business safely and effectively. I have tested nearly every one of these software bots and find them incredibly worthwhile! Automating key aspects of my online business has never been easier!
Affiliate Bots Review – What’s Included?
My Rating: 4.8/5 Stars
Price: $97 $47 $17.00 (One Time Fee) Link To Buy: Here 100% Money Back Guarantee: Yes - 60 Days Included Available in: Worldwide Number of Items Included: 17 + Bonuses & Guides Primary Categories: Affiliate Marketing, Software, Business, Research Creator: Chris & Ken (The Affiliate Bots) Released: November, 2018 Bonuses Included: Yes* Training Included: Yes – In Depth This package includes 17+ software bots. Each of them can be utilized for different purposes. The price on this is very affordable, and after you read my review, I think you will come to the same conclusion as me: “It should cost more”. For about $1 dollar a piece, affiliates around the world have been using these tools to revamp their online businesses for maximum profits. My research indicates that unlike many “gurus” and affiliate products, this package provides genuine worth. I will be including a short summary of what each of these “Bots’ do, below each listing for your convenience. I will also be discussing the bonuses that were included after I purchased! For details on every software bot, and on everything that is included, be sure to click one of the buttons or links provided. Chris does an excellent job of outlining some key points on why you need this software.
Review Of The "Automated Software Bots" Included:
• “ChristmasAffiliate Bot” This bot predicts the most popular items for the holiday/Christmas season. Which can help when choosing which products to market as an affiliate.
This is very nifty for any affiliate marketer. Sales go through the roof for many businesses during the Holiday/ Christmas season and having predictions on the hottest items can have a huge impact on your bottom line. Most people understand, “Supply and demand”, but I think many people aren’t aware of, “what they demand”. Again, this has excellent value off the bat. • “HostingAffiliate Bot” This bot shows the top affiliate programs that provide website hosting.
Many people today understand that the standard for being “’successful” in life changed decades ago. We no longer have the option to rely on employers for retirement or even reliable income for that matter. Indeed, today entrepreneurs are popping up worldwide every day. More and more people want to start online businesses, and they need website hosting! That’s where this bot comes in. Finding the best affiliate programs that offer online hosting has become a snap. You can now refer potential buyers to popular hosting sites and get paid while doing it! I personally love this bot. It’s genius. • ”IMAffiliate Bot” Frankly, I find it amazing that anyone would ever offer something like this in the first place. Chris & Ken provide you with a bot that displays the highest converting “affiliate product promotions” for the last 6 months!
Maybe I should phrase that differently, they literally show you what is top grossing in the affiliate marketing niche and converting online. They go even further to provide statistics and compare all of them so you see the best of the bunch. • “Affiliate Ads” This bot can instantly find and create banner ads for thousands of ClickBank affiliate programs. Gone are the days when you had to manually search up and find affiliate programs that provided banners for your site. An Alexa rank is also shown (if available) for every program listed. I think the worth of this bot is apparent for anyone who has ever used Clickbank before. Or at least for anyone who’s become frustrated with the lack of intuitive tools they provide affiliates. • “Warrior250” This bot pulls up the top 250+ affiliate programs on WarriorPlus (a digital product marketplace) and updates itself daily!
I don’t know if I can stress the implications of this bot enough. This makes product research, comparison, and execution (inclusion into one’s business) almost none existent. The only thing left for me to do is decide which one I like, and request to advertise that particular product. The vendor links are included making these requests a synch. Naturally a WarriorPlus account is needed, but they are free and very easy to set up. Just remember to fill in your billing info so you get paid for any referrals! • “King Of The Zon” This bot updates itself daily with the top 200 Amazon products. Research has never been easier with a bot like this!
Many people get into Amazon because of it’s reputation and buyer base. Naturally, the primary use for this item lies in being able to advertise products based on their popularity. If you are a marketer of popular items on Amazon, this will become an essential part of your product research. • “Launch Pulse” Want to see the latest and greatest JVZoo, ClickBank & WarriorPlus launched in the next 30 days? Never fear, “Launch Pulse” is here! You are basically getting inside knowledge about a product launch, its ratings, popularity, and payout all in one place without actually conducting any research of your own! Amazing to say the least. • “CB 250” The creater of this software says that this bot, “shows you the top 250 ClickBank affiliate programs, making seven figures a month in sales”. I don’t know about you, but this is one of the most incredible pieces of internet marketing software I have ever seen.
Clickbank remains an affiliate’s go-to for digital products. It is very easy to make money with products that payout so well. The research is what kills most though. Sure you can do it, but it takes valuable time. This bot turns what would be hours of headaches into minutes of picking and choosing. Only from the best-selling products, mind you. • “King of the Zoo” Ever heard of, JVZoo? Maybe, maybe not. That’s why this bot is essential to any growing marketer… just like JVZoo! Similar to Clickbank, JVZoo is an online marketplace full of digital products that affiliates like you and me can promote.
“King of the Zoo” is wonderfully configured to present the top grossing products on this platform, and enables the user to cut hours of research into mere moments of analysis. This alone is worth the cost of the package, and it also introduced me to a killer marketplace for products! • “1 Click Affiliate” This bot is very helpful. I was pleased to find that this bot made copy writing very simple and formulaic. It is Not perfect, and any copywriter will no doubt find several flaws. However, for the cost this is a brilliant way for anyone to automate a sales letter and or learn how to write good copy. • “1 Click Video Pages” This bot is exceptional for creating video sales/landing pages for products. You simply customize the kind of page you want, upload it to your website, and attach a video or image for a professional looking page. I myself think this is genius and absolutely love it. • “Rapid Video Creator” A very simple but effective tool that does what it says. And that is to make a “high conversion” sales video with simple text slides. You can customize it with music, images, text, coloring, slide speed, and a few other options.
It is simple and saves a ton of time if you were going to make a visual text presentation. It was a bit difficult to use since the image features since they weren’t all that intuitive. However, after inserting text, and customizing it with pre-included music and background images, I found it very useful. • “Resell Database software” This database is easily worth hundreds of dollars. It compiles a list of the top sites that offer affiliates hundreds if not thousands of digital products for resell. It also displays useful data and links making it a breeze to analyze and implement any of the listed sites. Many of these sites have been around for years and have a plethora of choices and products that you can start making money off of today! • “AutoMail software” This “AutoMail software” is very simple and easy to use. However, it isn’t an autoresponder or pre-programed software that will send out emails on a list.
It is basically a broadcasting software that you can use to build an email list on your site and send out unlimited emails. Pretty cool, though I’m sure many would argue that there are better alternatives. Very useful, though a bit old-fashioned if you ask me. • “Domainaveli” This software is pretty incredible if you ask me. I would have killed for a software like this when I was first deciding on my first website name. That being said, I think many people will find this tool a good alternative to standard keyword tools which I think most people use to decide on their website URL’s. Initially, I was skeptical about its worth, but it really has grown on me! I like it. • “Flip DB” The “Affiliate Bots” said that this is, “a database of 360 websites making up to $26,000 per month - from the auction site Flippa”. This software is truly amazing. It analyzes and lists hundreds of websites listed on Flippa.com (an auction site for selling/buying websites) and shows whatever information it could pull up automatically. Utilitarian isn’t a suitable term for a software like this. It really makes buying websites as easy as 1,2,3.
Bonuses Included:
You actually get more than 17 software bots with "Affiliate Bots". I received bonuses for Wordpress, guides to social media, and plugins. Really cool stuff.
I also received access to the "T Shirt Titan". This was designed as a way to launch your own T-shirt designs and products. As part of the "Titan" series, it is a premium system similar to Affiliate Bots with its own resources, software, guides, and tutorials. It is easily worth hundreds of dollars and he throws it in absolutely free! I have gone though all of it, and I still can't wrap my head around how someone like Chris could be so generous with his software.
About The Creator/Company
The creators of this program are “Chris & Ken (The Affiliate Bots)”. I don’t know a whole lot more than that. This is a recent launch that just came out in November 2018. Not a whole lot is known about the “Bots” brand. However, they are “Clickbank Certified”, and anyone who has ever heard of them knows how secure they are.
Also, so far, my customer service experience with them has been very positive. The Good: PRO #1: This software is ridiculously cheap. The amount of value you get with Affiliate Bots is astounding. I myself absolutely love the software and information that came with my purchase. I still can’t believe how much comes with it. PRO #2: The guides, video tutorials and customer support has been excellent so far. I am very pleased with how well I’m treated as a consumer with them, even when I needed help with something simple. PRO #3: There are numerous packages and bonuses that come with your purchase. Naturally there is also the option to join his premium memberships or get his elite software packages that specialize in specific tasks. (E.g. Video makers, niche research, slide animations, WordPress themes, etc) The Bad: CON #1: Sometimes software can be strenuous on your PC or be difficult to work with. Note: Contacting support has been very useful here. They have fixed every issue I’ve had so far. CON #2: The layout for some of their software is rather linear and a bit difficult to navigate unless you are in their premium “club” hub. I’m getting used to the navigation now, but I thought it was worth noting. It does make it easier to rinse and repeat the process of using the software provided though. Simply start at the top and work your way down. Let me know what you thought of this review, and what you think of Affiliate Bots in the comments below. Feel free to like, and share as well! Best regards, Jacob Highley [email protected] Read the full article

((<==Back to Dontoc))
“How does it feel?”
Careen inhaled slowly, feeling her chest press against the red corset tightly. It hugged the contours of her body, and combined with the white ruffles along the sweetheart neckline, she wouldn’t even need to accentuate her natural curves. The dress flared just past around her hips, not much, only enough that it just went wider than her shoulders. From there, a sheer, white train outlined in fur starting down at her skirt trailed behind her. The only pieces missing were her long white gloves and white platform shoes, accented with small pink roses nearby the straps. It wasn’t her typical style, but as she gazed at herself in her stylist’s full sized mirror, she couldn’t help but see the allure such a dress gave herself. She could only hope her matesprit could match her own perfection. Otherwise, they’d just look silly together.
“The corset feels tight,” Careen said. “But that’s good, isn't’ it?”
“The corset should feel tight!” Kordof exclaimed. Kordof was Careen’s personal stylist, a rather short seadweller, not standing much taller than Careen even without her heels on, dressed in a pale button-up shirt and lavender shorts with a tape measure draped around his neck. His horns were similarly short, following the back of his head like a wave. The only larger feature prominent on him were his fins, large and seemingly translucent with a light shimmer. Sindarian, true to the end: indicative of his skill and title as the best Alternia could offer her. Careen deserved the best. “That is the point of a corset! But the rest of it? Twirl for me, let me see how it moves.”
He stepped back, giving her room to twirl. The fabric of the dress lifted just enough to make a small circle around her. The train followed the sentiment, moving like a ghost of the red. “It needs sparkles,” she said. “It doesn’t sparkle enough.”
“My dear, my darling, you don’t need sparkle when you wear this gown,” he said. Kordof gently took a hold of the back of the train, examining the fur. “Though, certainly we could make a matching scarf. Would fox suffice?”
“Fox!” Careen gasped, a delicate hand going over her mouth. “Would you truly give the Heiress something as plain as fox? Kordof, you jokester!”
“Then perhaps ermine? A grand winter creature, dying in honor to give you perfect aesthetic.” He clicked his tongue against his teeth. “Ah, I can see it now. Your matesprit had his own white scarf last sweep didn’t he? You two shall match!”
Careen’s expression soured. She remembered the scarf. More importantly, she remembered a notable thorn in her side shoving a wrapped box into his chest before the two set off to the hotel, the way he quietly opened it up on the boat, and how Dontoc’s hands seemed naturally drawn to it when he didn’t know what to do with his hands. “He did, yes. I advised against him wearing it, but he’s just so stubborn. I couldn’t stop him. Frankly, he looked ridiculous in the thing.”
Kordof’s small face scrunched in thought. “Do you wish to match with your prince?” he asked.
“He’s getting his design from Mayola’s stylist. Aisral. Do you think I’ll even be allowed to see what it looks like to even try and match?” She crossed her arms as she pouted. “Can you believe someone like Mayola snagged a stylist? At all?”
“In the sense she is a fuschiablood and some would compete just to work with an Heiress, no matter how lacking in justification it is,” Kordof said. He circled around her, checking the dress for any errors as he spoke. “Does the stylist have a Chittr? Prongle? Grype? I shall get in contact with her for you. Certainly how impressive could this Aisral be? I haven’t heard of her!”
He laughed brightly, a sound so pleasing Careen couldn’t help but join in. “There is no need to lower yourself Kordof. She’s merely a tealblood. You know how they are.”
“Oh yes, I’ve had my fair share of unpleasantries from the midcastes. Thinking just because they don’t share a color with wasted metals they stand on par with our - no, your - excellence. And teals!” He sighed irritably and made his way to the back of the room, towards his accessory wall. “They’re just jades with the mere illusion of freedom.”
“I know! I can’t believe I tried putting up with one for as long as I did.” Her fins fanned out at the thought. The number of times she’s kindly extended a hand and graciously allowed Pallia into her hive, only for her to either ignore the invitation or storm out in a graceless huff. And Aisral? Aisral was worse. At least Pallia had the ability to pretend to be nice if others were present, even if only to make herself look like the innocent party. Aisral couldn’t even bother to do that much. She rejected all invitations, and when Careen approached her to have a dress made, what did she do? Completely refuse, only to being designing for Mayola, the bastard of an heiress whose inability to control the natural bloodlust fuchsias had for each other worried Careen. Why Niehea, a rather unrefined, yet acceptable Heiress in the scheme of things, chose to associate herself with the cretin was beyond her. “And my matesprit of all trolls choses to hang around them! You know, he invited her to his hive. In Sindaria! Certainly, I suppose I was busy during the same week already, but you don’t just do that! Especially for some witch who deems the height of dining to be some 24 hour diner serving ice cream.”
When Kordof returned, he placed a black shrug onto Careen’s shoulders, tsking into her ear. “If I didn’t know any better, I would say you hold black feelings of the deepest pitch.”
To most anyone on the outside, it was obvious she grew increasingly obsessed with Pallia. Even Careen had to admit her what was once a careful eye on a consistent problem turned into a need bordering on fetishistic to deliver her punishment in the recent perigees as it became apparent to her where Dontoc’s true loyalties stood. But pitch? Careen felt no pitch feelings for her. That would require feelings aside from pure vitriol at the sight of her face.
“Please,” Careen huffed. “She’s a nuisance I can’t get rid of. I try to help her, show her how to be a proper highblooded lady, something any midblood in her position would break down my door for, and what does she do? Refuse my assistance, make more of a mess for herself and get herself barred from her ordeals. She ruined my credibility in this trash heap of a city I’ve been stuck to live at, instead of some place glamorous, ruined several of my parties, ruined my fanfiction and will end up ruining my storybook relationship if this continues. Don’t I get something for myself, just this once, without my niceness blowing up in my face?”
“You have this gorgeous dress. And you shall have this night! Certainly this troll cannot take those away from you.”
Careen smiled. He not only had a point, he had a good point. Despite her own mixed reputation in Sandyhorn, Pallia still would rather join in festivities there than go to an actual ball. Careen knew why she would never go - a gala like this basically required a romantic partner, and Pallia’s hyper-intellectual personality and plain dressing style only appealed to the most stereotypical of mustardbloods. “You’re right. She can’t. She won’t be there. It will just be me and my matesprit, my darling Dontoc, together for a concupiscent holiday weekend. No matter what happens, I’ll fight to make sure we have the happy ending we deserve.”
Kordof chuckled. “I believe in you, my Heiress. Let nothing stop you!” He turned her so the two faced each other. “That being said, would you like me to stomp down this Aisral’s door and force her to reveal your prince’s piece, or shall we do something else?”
“Oh let’s just get some matching corsages and make me look like a set with Pereon,” she said airily. “No reason to require you to talk to Aisral. You’d just infuriate yourself.”
“Very well, my Heiress.” Kordof gave her a short bow. “Now, let us get you out of this and into your next dress!”
Careen's smile widened. With his help, she would shine and sparkle where others wouldn’t.
Just what she expected.
