!MAJOR SPOILERS FOR OUTER BANKS!

Am I the only one who thinks that the writers for outer banks ruined the show?? JJ’s death was so random and I feel like they just had it for the season for shock value(same with Sarah being pregnant)

Plus then trying to get Kiara and Rafe together feel so weird because they rushed his redemption arc. Then so many popular outer banks pages are hating on part 2 of season 4

SIGHT

✶⋆.˚ golden light bleeds through the threadbare curtains, casting long, dappled shadows across the wooden floor, and dust motes drift lazily in the air, caught in the sunlight like tiny suspended stars

✶⋆.˚ the walls, once painted a pale yellow, are now faded and chipped, worn down by humidity and time

✶⋆.˚ a tangle of clothes from the day before lies near the door, boots kicked over haphazardly, and the old dresser leans slightly to one side, its drawers never quite shutting all the way

SOUND

✶⋆.˚ the house is never silent. the groan of wood expanding in the morning heat, the soft creak of the warped floorboards shifting under no weight at all, the distant sound of marsh water sloshing against the tangled roots of cypress trees

✶⋆.˚ outside, cicadas begin their steady summer chant, their hum blending with the occasional throaty croak of a bullfrog

✶⋆.˚ from somewhere in the reeds, a heron lets out a sharp, rasping call, and the wind whistles through the cracked window, rattling the glass ever so slightly

SMELL

✶⋆.˚ the air is thick with the damp, living scent of the marsh—a heady mixture of salt, mud, and rotting wood, mingled with the faint, sharp tang of oyster shells baking in the sun

✶⋆.˚ the faint remnants of last night’s dinner linger in the air—something fried in bacon grease, heavy and warm

✶⋆.˚ there’s also the unmistakable scent of old wood, aged by salt air and time, and beneath it all, the lingering traces of my sister’s flowery lotion and my vanilla perfume, both contrasted against the heavier, earthier smells of the house

TASTE

✶⋆.˚ there’s the faintest hint of salt on my lips, carried in by the marsh breeze slipping through the cracks in the window

✶⋆.˚ my mouth is dry from sleep, tinged with the aftertaste of warm air and something slightly metallic, like the ghost of the saltwater i spend so much time in

✶⋆.˚ if i listen closely, i can hear the water moving outside, and i already know that when i step outside, i’ll taste the brackish tang of the tide in the back of my throat

TOUCH

✶⋆.˚ the sheets beneath me are soft from age, but thin, clinging slightly to my skin, still cool from the night air. the air inside the house is heavy, pressing against my bare arms like an invisible weight

✶⋆.˚ when i move, the mattress lets out a familiar, tired groan, the old springs pushing back against my moving weight

✶⋆.˚ my feet find the floor, cool and smooth and worn down from years of barefoot steps. as i sit up, i instinctively roll my shoulder, feeling the familiar tightness of scarred muscle pulling against the bone, a dull stiffness that never quite goes away

✶⋆.˚ the sensation is familiar, like the house itself—worn down, aching, but still thriving

You know Rafe loves you but it didn't feel like that sometimes. It felt like he loved his drugs or his friends or anything that wasn't you more.

You didn't realize you were pulling away from him. Instead of greeting him at the door like you always did, you stayed in bed. You didn't run over and start kissing him all over the face. You didn't ask him about his day. You didn't cook for him like you always did, you made food for yourself. If he was hungry, he'd eat. Which he stopped doing. Most times you didn't even want to stay home but putting on an outfit and getting ready just took more energy than you had in you.

Rafe noticed almost immediately when you changed. When you stopped loving him like you did before. There were no more late night talks, no more talks about his day or even yours, no more “I love you”’s. 

He figured you were just going through some stuff that you didn't want him to know about yet. He didn't think anything of it but of course there was a voice in the back of his head. He didn't like whatever was going on between you two.

So he got clean.

“Princess?,” Rafe calls as he walks inside your shared apartment. He takes off his shoes and you don't answer. He walks to the bedroom and opens the door. You're awake, just on your phone. “I called for you,” he said softly and sat on the bed.

“I don't really feel like talking,” you mutter.

He takes your phone and puts it down in front of you. “What's happening to us?”

You sit up and hold your knees to your chest. “I don't know.. it feels like you're pulling away from me.”

Rafe shakes his head. “I feel like you're doing the same thing, like, you don't love me anymore.”

“I do love you, Rafe, and the only reason I've been acting the way I do is because it's like you don't wanna be home. You're never home now, you're always out with Topper or Kelce or you're getting high or drunk.”

Rafe sighs and shakes his head. “I'm working on getting clean, actually,” he mumbles.

You stare at him for a moment, thinking that he was making a joke of some sort. But he wasn't. He was actually trying to clean for you. “Are you really?” you say softly.

He nods. “Yeah. i wanted better for you. I know I’ve been acting off because of the drugs so I wanted to change. I’m sorry I neglected you.”

You pull him into a hug and bury your head in his neck. “I love you.”

He puts you in his lap and wraps his arms around your waist. “I love you.”

y/n isn’t the type to follow anyone’s rules, especially not when they try to control her. she’s ready to make waves and prove that no one—especially a school like silverstone—can tame her. but what happens when she crosses paths with rafe cameron, the charming yet troubled "bad boy" of the outer banks? the tides are about to change, and y/n may find herself tangled in more than she bargained for.

✦ rafe cameron (17, 6'6") – the misunderstood bad boy with a reputation. rafe comes from a complicated family, and his tough exterior hides a lot of pain. he and y/n have an instant rivalry, but as they spend more time together, their connection becomes undeniable.

✦ john b. routledge (17, 6'0") – laid-back, loyal, and always in the middle of the drama. john b. isn’t part of silverstone but is often around due to his connection to rafe. he tries to stay out of the conflict but finds himself getting involved when y/n’s presence shakes things up.

✦ sarah cameron (15, 5'6") – rafe’s younger sister with a charm that masks her own struggles. sarah has a complicated relationship with rafe and sees something in y/n’s rebellious spirit that she can’t quite shake off. she warns y/n about rafe but is also drawn to her energy.

✦ kie (kiara carrera) (15, 5'5") – outspoken and fearless, kie quickly becomes y/n’s ally. she’s not afraid to stand up for herself or her friends and quickly sees the value in y/n’s defiant attitude, despite her wariness of the situation with rafe.

✦ jj maybank (17, 5'11") – fun-loving and carefree, jj’s the type who gets along with everyone but tends to stay out of the drama. however, he finds himself in the middle of it when y/n starts making waves at silverstone, and he’s loyal enough to stand by her side.

✦ pope hayward (16, 5'10") – intelligent, calm, and thoughtful, pope tries to avoid getting tangled in conflicts. he’s the one who often tries to mediate, but his loyalty to his friends means he’ll step in if needed. he’s skeptical of the tension between rafe and y/n, but he’s there for y/n when she needs him.

welcome to wild child. y/n didn’t ask to be sent to silverstone academy. she didn’t ask to be stripped from everything she knew and thrown into a school full of stuck-up rich kids and strict rules. but if there’s one thing about y/n, it’s that she doesn’t follow rules.

rafe cameron is the worst of them all. arrogant, untouchable, and tall enough to make her look like a literal child. they clash from the moment they meet—he’s used to people fearing him, and she’s too stubborn to care.

but rivalry and tension? they’re a dangerous mix.
