Just had a convo with a friend about this and I'm curious

I want to clarify that this is different than having fine china that you never use in a cabinet somewhere, these are regularly-used plates only for guests.

#johnsense #polls #it's traditional in my culture to have different table settings for guests #it's usually given as a wedding gift by either the bride's in laws or her oldest married sibling #(we don't traditionally give fine china I think that's an american thing)#they're nicer than your normal plates and used when non-family guests are over #ours were blue and white

#a moment i need to capture while it's still fresh #stargazing alone in the chill and damp of an august night #the crickets singing all around #northern lights filling the sky like nothing i've ever seen #the red colors even visible to the naked eye #pictures show the entire sky alight with red and green and blue #but they can't capture the delicate blue-white formations that i see with the naked eye #or the pulsing weaving swirling motion of the lights above #the high point of the night is looking straight up into the night sky #not north or south or east or west just up which is out toward space #not a direction tied to our world but out to god #and there were these constant swirling waves of light all pulsing toward the very center of the sky #and then a shooting star #the brightest and clearest of the night #streaks upward across the right-hand side #and after an evening of wanting to feel closer to god than i do when surrounded by his heavenly marvels #the prayer that comes to mind is 'glory'#glory to the father and to the son and to the holy spirit who created all this and let me see it #and there is no one to share it with #no way to capture what i'm seeing #no way to share this moment with anyone else #there is no one i'll be able to turn to and say #remember when we saw that shooting star in the middle of the northern lights?#this moment can't be captured or repeated it simply exists in this moment right now #it's beautiful and sad #and also a gift #i meant to stay out for maybe fifteen minutes #i was out there an hour and wish i didn't have to leave #and there was no way to share it but i had to try to share it with someone before i lost the moment

Some old stuff I did for my club’s Model United Nations conference as a part of their PR team last year. I still like the minimalist look to some of them, but design 3 was a bit too complex for the design theme of the event (it was used as the main banner, but understandably I think now I could have done better for all of them).

was working the clicker counter for our halloween trick or treat event last night, and the amount of harry potter costumes was like. frankly baffling, and the only reason i didn't go home depressed abt it was seeing all the young weebs coming through in their cosplays, sometimes with their parents also in cosplay... i love you second generation weebs...

#there was a lot of demon slayer children ofc innumerable pokemon children a couple one piece children!!!#i think the one piece children are how you really know they're a second generation weeb bc i don't think they air that on cartoon channels #anymore like they did when i was young. could be wrong about thay #i saw absolutely ZERO my hero academia children. the entire night absolutely zero. we are OVER bnha here lol #there were some naruto children here n there. one of our staff had the akatsuki cloak on. saw him hauling garbage towards the end lol #i counted Exactly Five gnshn teenagers coming through our line #there was this tinie yuuta cosplayer close to the start of the line... little man you are probably not old enough to be watching jjk #but his cosplay was really good it warmed my little weeb heart #i could recognize and name most anime characters but some i Recognized but could NOT for the LIFE of me NAME #there was this one hxh cosplayer i think whom i JUST NOW REALIZED was cosplaying hxh bc i've never seen hxh #and it was bothering me all fucking night lmao #i just went through the hxh wiki to find this little man HIS NAME WAS KURAPIKA. god. mystery solved #there was also this woman in REALLY NICE FUCKING COSPLAY that i could not for the life of me name #but i'm pretty sure she made it herself bc the craftsmanship was SO GOOD. like it had actual layers instead of cheaply printed onto cloth #like i don't know what series she was from but it was like this light blue flight attendant uniform with a matching hat n tall white boots #she had a friend with her who was probably also in cosplay but i didn't recognize it #花話 #we had several thousand people coming through our trick or treat event last night over abt three hours #never in my life had i ever truly felt our area's population density until then. holy shit.

#were doing a huge exhibition about some famous graphic designer #i think it's his whole body of work #so its divided #it's our largest gallery #it's divided into 4 mini galleries #the front is this pale warmer robins egg blue then it goes into a deep viridian #theres the long grey wall that spans into 3/ 4 gallery spaces #gallery 3 is that deep blue #its really pretty too look at #and the last is called grape juice and it's pretty but good lord is it patchy #it was all patchy #the light blue isn't really but we're still gonna do a 2nd coat #the gray has two coats #also weird selection of colors huh #the white wall in this picture was painted blue soon after this was taken #norm.allie #college owns #the purple looks like free form jazz

#if anyone’s interested in all the stuff that’s gone wrong #I’ve had to deal with my venue #my caterer #and my photographer all cancelling last minute #I still might not have a photographer bc I need the venue to sign off on his insurance and he still hasn’t sent it #my fiance asked me to wear a Pakistani dress and the one I ordered came late and was terrible #like who uses BLUE MARKER to mark out where the embroidery is going on PAPER THIN WHITE SILK????#I got a new dress tho and the tailor should be done by Friday morning #our guest list just keeps growing bc his family doesn’t seem to understand the idea of an RSVP #my fiancé’s family also doesn’t seem to like the idea of specifics 😬#or understand that we are trying to keep things small #aka his mom invited five more people last week and told me about them today after I already submitted a final guest count #communication has just kinda been terrible all around tbh #my phone keeps trying to commit suicide #we were informed of a serious allergy like two days ago #so now the menu has to change and our caterer is super unhappy about that #my fiance asked me yesterday if I was wearing a veil and then asked me to wear one so now I have to find a veil #I realized on Sunday that I never actually asked my cousins to be my bridesmaids #which isn’t so bad since no bridesmaid dresses but it was embarrassing #and my anxiety caught up with me yesterday and I spent the night stress puking!#it’s been great 👍🏼#but I’m going to marry the love of my life on Saturday and that’s what matters #even tho it kinda feels like the universe is trying to tell me otherwise
