Let me tell you about Stormcast Eternals.

Picture this: Eternal warriors who have been divinely appointed to the task of protecting humankind - immortal, untouched by age or disease, and every time they die in battle their souls are sent back, not reborn but reforged. Chosen from brave and noble souls who died a hero's death, remade in a new body built to battle again and again. Inhumanly strong, fast, and keen of senses, and also literally twice the size of a regular, mortal human beings. Some have wings on their backs, having all the appearance of a warrior angel. To them, mortals are such little, fleeting, fragile things.

But emotionally, they themselves are quite vulnerable. Each death carries the risk of losing more of their souls, becoming more and more a perfect divine weapon, and less and less the mortal person that they used to be. Losing themselves means losing sympathy towards humanity, and this loss of identity is the true, final death that they fear more than any way of being killed.

So if and when one of them returns with less of themselves intact than they should, some of them are assigned therapy animal pet humans, ideally their own kin, however distant. And they are supposed to form a bond to this human, to remember who they were as a mortal and what it means to be human. The mortal is to do the same, to bond with the Eternal, help mend their tattered soul or at least slow down the process of its deterioration. A massively large and strong living weapon, at risk of losing their identity as a human being, and an ordinary little mortal whom they must protect at all costs, because the fate of their very soul depends on it.

And the most amazing thing about all this is that I've never seen porn of them. Like sure yeah there probably is some, but haven't encountered any just scrolling down my tumblr dash. Y'all are really sleeping on Warhammer lore, because which part of this does not sound like an elaborare "imagine your OTP" fanfic AU setting?

Don't know if you've already talked about bill but how is he coping with modern times? I always imagined a modern bill becoming a car mechanic, or something adjacent, maybe even becoming a small influencer where he posts abt trucks and such (and also his dog. I just know that man gets a dog in any type of modern au)

i have not spoken about bill because bill as a character just makes me so sad fam like was he doomed to be the power hungry bastard of toxic masculinity we see in rdr1 or did the events of rdr2 actively make him that way why was everyone so mean to him like you can see the way people treats him chipping away at him it makes me want to scream but back to timewarp au

therapy. my otp is bill and therapy. man needs anger management and to unpack that emotional baggage. it would take a while but once bill made the connection sometimes when he feels angry and acts out he's actually feeling sad/upset he'd start to develop as a person really quickly.

he would be so conflicted about seeing the gang again. why does no one talk about what happened to bill in the gap between rdr1 and 2?? dutch fucking left him behind bill would've followed dutch to the ends of the earth and been the perfect obedient loyal son he always wanted and dutch just threw him away because hunting down arthur and john for betraying him was more important!!

the new main gang would've picked him up because they knew he was going to be timewarped but it would be so uncomfortable.

poor kieran would've been so terrified he had to stay with annabelle and grimshaw until bill left. he usually regresses a little whenever someone timewarps because he has obvious reason to be nervous about the gang but it would've been a full breakdown just knowing bill was coming back. bill would've felt bad about it too because he never made the connection between how the gang's teasing made him feel vs what his bullying was doing to kieran.

the rest of the gang would've gone straight back to teasing bill because that was the dynamic last time they were all together. he would've hated it and lashed out a lot. he became something after they died they better respect it but of course they just don't. bill would've barely understood modern era before he bounced.

happy stuff now i promise. he ended up hitchhiking for a bit and learning about the modern world from truckers. he would love going to bars and truck stops and dodgy mom and pop diners along the highway.

he ends up getting a job on a ranch (ironically the modern day MacFarlane which became a massive multimillion dollar operation) and still gets to ride horses almost every day. he picks up herding super quickly and gets all the validation and care he deserves. the owners love him and are really supportive and patient when it comes to dealing with his temper.

he gets a little power trip out of learning to drive the semi-truck and unlike most of the hands is always super excited and happy to go on cross-country road trips delivering things to processing facilities. his favorite thing though would be the combine harvester he will work 14 hour shifts without complaint harvesting grain.

bill loves dogs almost more than he loves his horses he cannot drive past a sign that says puppies for sale without at least stopping to look. this habit has resulted in him having five dogs and they are his new gang. his first dog was a stray he picked up on the side of the road it's a wire-haired gundog mutt just called Mutt. he also has two cattle dogs (Clem and Roanoke), a long hair shepherd called Mercer and finally a catahoula called Abel. they are all working dogs and he does not go anywhere without all of them. they all sleep on his bed and are just as happy to go on cross country road trips in the semi as he is.

he can control all of them with a whistle or non verbal commands and they are insanely well trained. Micah fucking hates him sure Baymax can bark and growl and look scary on command but the second one of Bill's dogs curls up its lips Baymax is hiding behind Micah terrified and Bill is so fucking smug about it.

through therapy and having his ideals challenged bill starts making an effort to be less racist and sexist and actually confronting some of the gang about the way they treated him in 1899 and mending those relationships because look yeah he went off the deep end after the VDLs but he does still care about them and wants to have good relationships with them he's just got to work through a lot of issues go bill i believe in you

and most importantly he finally got over the internalized homophobia and admitted to himself he's a bit/lot gay. he's not wearing beads at pride levels of comfortable with it yet but he is a classic bear who will protect the gaybies from violence with violence.

it's like a many, many years slow burn but him and alden get together because charlybird's art is one of the only reasons i gave bill a chance as a character and i am a better person for it

Favorite thing about them:

Oh God, where do I start? I initially hate Brokey bc of the whole...everything with Tower. But never judge the book by its covers, because she came in CLUTCH IN APO AND FURY! I ended up relating to Broken a lot, because well...who hasn't felt lost and small and weak? The more I learned about her, the more I love how she could be so empathetic, and that it's both a weakness and a strength for her.

Least favorite thing about them:

Aside from the aforementioned Tower Chapter (which is already a clear bias on my part), I don't really hate Broken. I don't really hate anyone in STP, not even Narrator! Some I just don't engage with a lot bc of personal reason. If I had to nitpick, the weak mumbled can get a lil old real quick.

Favorite Line:

My thoughts exactly broken! I like how each voice have moments where they break "character" and speak what I had on my mind. It's hilarious also, bc if BROKEN is saying this, then the rest of the party must be fucked.

BrOTP:

- Stubborn and Broken: opposite parallels man. I also ship em but it falls under "polycule" so it goes without saying. But fr, Stubborn encouraging her to be kind to herself and helping her with physical therapy ftw.

- (Wounded) Wild and Broken: this is mostly au talk, but I feel like they would do good for each other. Wild deserves some kindness, and Broken, despite their history, is willing to give it and keep her company. And Broken being willing to become one with her again, so she doesn't feel left out or alone.

OTP:

- Cheaken (Cheated × Broken): where do I start with this ship? I LOVE THIS YURI COUPLE SO MUCH! WOUNDED AND DISABLED GIRLIES WHO SOUGHT TO COMFORT OTHERS BECAUSE THEY CANNOT COMFORT THEMSELVES!! AHHAHSHSHSHSHDHSHSH

As stated previously, Cheated and Broken are projections for my mf and mine's relationship, bc we relate to both characters, so it's sweet, mutually exclusive, and wholesome. They have seen the other at their worst and now want to see their best, and hopefully find the best in themselves. Couples who lift each other ftw.

nOTP:

Broken and Tower but I won't stop anyone from shipping it. I find it cute when other people do it.

Random Headcanon:

Broken has great upper body strength on account of having to use her hands and upper torso to get out of bed or move between couch, bed, wheelchair, etc... and though she sounds like she's struggling, she's perfectly capable of lifting herself. This is one strong lady

Unpopular Opinion:

This was a trap I fell into during my early fandom days, but Making broken a pathetic wet cat who needs others to take care of her is a lil demeaning and dishonest to her character. But it can be funny as fuck, tho. I like we cat broken in moderation! Oh, and while I don't wanna touch the Tower, I feel like new people are a little too quick to call him weak or a simp, for submitting to Her.

How I feel about this character: i cannot physically stop thinking about him. he invades all my thoughts. he is basically my head roomie at this point. he is such an asshole. i love him. he is not normal and trying so hard to be which its a fact i cannot get over. also, he is the funniest motherfuxker alive and has been way before the bonus chapters, finally some recognition to my boy

All the people I ship romantically with this character: katelyn basically and only. tho i've read kevaaron/katekevaaron fics but i dont really ship them i just think the fics are neat

My non-romantic OTP for this character: hmmmmmmmmmmm. so hard to choose. i think he has a lot of potential with matt for a super cool friendship. i have him and andrew's sibling relationship rotating in my brain 24/6 (saturdays are aaron only) but the neilaaron bestfriendisims are so funny to read idk. My unpopular opinion about this character: this opinion has actually becoming less unpopular since nora had to write text of the subtext but he isnt as homophobic as people make him to be. like, he isnt disgusted/feels hatred towards homosexuality he just dislikes neil and doesnt like the oversexualizating comments nicky makes. bc i mean, love nicky, but sometimes they are a little bit much. and yeah, he has internalized homophobia, he has even admitted it but i dont he externalizes it. the thing with neil is dislike towards neil/getting a reaction out to break the bros before hoes deal. (sorry i love calling it the bros before hoes deal its so funny, its their fault)

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i want to see him break. like for real. super ugly. gimme whump. . gimme failing everything he work for. gimme relapse. gimme all the bad things that could happen and worse. How I feel about this character: neil josten neil josten neil josten neil josten neil josten. i cannot describe him. he is such a concept. i devore it like i've never eaten before. he is a bit of nathaniel and a bit of neil and he is both and he is all and he is everything. and he is a lie but its all true. and he doesnt care but he cares very much. he manipulates like he breathes and he crimes like its in his blood but that bad but that has a benefit but no no thats not. god. he sees people, he helps, he is a sweetheart with who he cares/needs but can be the absolute worst if he needs it. like, like, he makes me insane. i cant form coherent thoughts about him

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: mental health. shit has to affect him. he will never go to the therapy, its neil cmon, but that doesnt mean that shit doesnt happen and that his mental health is pristine and that there arent other things aside therapy. like, i want to explore more of everything that happened in the books affect him mental health-wise. not like a diagnosis/recovery but more like an exploration of his intricate issues

How I feel about this character

Uhh....I will link [here] for a much longer answer on how I feel about that man and my answer later down the line, but he is a ragged chew toy to me. He's genuinely such a good microcosm of the role of "privileged" psykers in the Imperium and all the identity issues that come with that and also the inherent cross-purposes between the State Power of the Inquisition and the Frontier Authority of Rogue Traders. And I say this as an expression of love: I want him to fuck off and out of the airlock.

Heinrix x Cas but only in the way that is toxic, or in an AU where they have different jobs that aren't at each other's throats. I know I only ever seem to post mean about him but I genuinely was almost swayed by the allure of the No Jealousy mod.

Heinrix and Abelard are a fun duo. I'm a firm believer that Heinrix is only maybe behind Abelard by a few decades at most. They have the kind of energy that says they've both been found sleeping with their arms crossed in front of the Cogitators while watching the Space!Blood Bowl.

Heinrix and Jae can hang as well but only when he's chill and not being a cop about it. I honestly would love to hear them talk religion. He needs some of her "chill out about The Exalted One" energy.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Okay, I've spent too long on this answer so, linked post for more controversial thoughts but the current Bugbear chewing on my mind is that I feel like the fandom kind of treats him being in the Ordo Xenos as just like...a job that has no bearing on his character outside that he's a workaholic about it. And that does so much disservice to the analysis of his character as an institution man™.

Like we cannot discuss Heinrix's Mercy path and inner iconoclast core without acknowledging that his development there is intimately tied to his struggles as a psyker within the framework of the Imperium's Dogma. Which, if he was a member of the Ordo Hereticus or Malleus, would be smooth sailing. But he's Ordo Xenos, which notably has not much to do with his issues as a psyker. Plus, Aeldari are people too, and the narrative I feel is pretty intentional with showing how Heinrix's xenophobia is more often than not wrong. And not even to say "Aeldari are always right" but rather Heinrix follows a pattern emblematic of the Imperium's xenos policy that values short-sighted blanket mistrust and paranoia of slights real and imagined, that often agitates and makes situations worse especially when it comes to harms ultimately originating with other humans. And so you can't discuss the ways Heinrix shows or feels mercy towards someone like Emelina, without discussing the people he actively chooses to not to extend those feelings towards. And I feel like that gets swept under the rug because a lot of the notable incidents involve Marazhai the Instigator and Yrliet, the local Bitch Eating Crackers, and so for reasons fair and not, a lot of the fandom is predisposed to seeing them as unreliable or deserving of ill treatment for their behavior in ways that don't get applied to the humans.

And honestly, if I had the time to soapbox about it I'd argue that the issues of Heinrix's job-dependence, impotent anger at his circumstances, and self-loathing are all things that make him a perfect match for the Ordo Xenos because it allows him to channel those feelings onto creatures and populations* that Dogma has taught him are unambiguously good to harm! That's intrinsic to the character to me tbh.

*Creatures and populations here acknowledging that not all xenos are "people" in the way that can be reasoned with but Aeldari are and that's who the game deals with.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

On the silly side: DLC where if you follow Heinrix's advice on how to handle the Drukhari, the Ordo Malleus shows up to try to beat your/Heinrix's ass. Genuinely they are having such a bad couple of months/years on a Dogmatic Rogue Trader run lmao.

On the serious side: Okay I'm conflicted about this because Heinrix xenophobia is such a core part of his character but also I do wish, especially if you romance him, the game acknowledged how out of pocket he gets if you keep the xenos? Because he absolutely is overstepping both your rights as Rogue Trader and Calcazar's orders to let you be. Like, if you decide to keep Marazhai, as is your God-Emperor-given right, he will use words with you that cannot be found in the Lectitio Divinitatus, but outside telling him "no" in the moment you never really get to address his behavior. I've said it in the past in another post but the fact that romanced!Heinrix will apologize to you for having sex but not for repeatedly undermining your orders...in front of your retinue and crew....insane man. Owlcat let me shake him.

how i feel about this character:

i need to FEED HIM DINNER and TAKE HIM TO A CAT CAFE and PAY FOR HIS THERAPY BILLS

hes everything. he did not deserve a single second of how the main characters treated him. Hes gods strongest ocd warrior and the king of adidas sweatpants and i need to get my fanfiction done so i can give him an epilogue where he has so many friends and two dozen adopted cats and he can gradually transform into a bear in peace

all the people i ship romantically with this character

its So fucked up to me. that scar/greed hasnt taken a foothold anywhere in the past 20 years of this series existing. the possibilities are incredible. you have two people from very different backgrounds on the run from the same government who can never go home again. theyre also, for one reason or another, loath to bite the bullet and call somewhere *new* their home. (wont it just be taken away again? can anything really be permanent for someone like them? do they even belong with humans at all? And So On)

despite these parallels the fronts they put up to protect themselves are WILDLY different. scar would definitely be put off at first by how arrogant and airheaded greed can seem, not to mention his origins and their opposing feelings on chimeras. their stated goals are very different too

but the thing about greed is that. Well. hes SO hard to actively dislike for very long. if you observe him for Any length of time the reality of the type of person he is just clicks and everything gets cast in a new light. scar is very observant! he would get it! and then he would regret getting it. but be incapable of un-getting it. itd be terrible and awesome

& Also, scar is notoriously extremely susceptible to people who decide that they want to hang out with him simply doing so. greed is nothing if not a barnacle of a man. and to top it all off, we have the CANONICAL fact that the first time he sees scar hes like "waow :)"

aside from those two. uhhhhh in my fanfiction scar and bido have had had One conversation alone at night during which they started doing sentimental hand touching without my really intending that, to happen, so. i cant help but Think About It. bido being a chimera-- and a visibly nonhuman one at that-- is a uniquely interesting thing to put next to all of scars Bodily Transmutation Woes i think, and hes also not one to shy away from vocally supporting his friends and i think thatd be good for scar. i dont think circumstances will allow these guys to pass beyond the border of "weird unstated quasiplatonic throuple" in the fic proper, but, maybe . If i put it out into the world. others will see my vision, and run with it... we may only dream.....

HIM AND MEI!!!!!!!!!!! the best friends of all TIME. im still adamant that their relationship is VERY SPECIFICALLY that of a new step- or adoptive dad and his teenage daughter whos already extremely self sufficient so he doesnt really know what to do for her parenting-wise, but she immediately starts telling him all the drama from school and using him for eyeliner practice and they are both satisfied with this arrangement. theyd both kill a man for each other. it rules

he should be legally allowed to do what ever he wants 👍 and its good tjat he killed all those people

one thing i wish had happened in canon

uhhh. mei should have been shown defending him more and not just as a joke. his actions should have been framed as justified and sympathetic instead of having to sit there and get chastised by a bunch of 15 year olds and cops. he should not have been made to work with the military in the first place. wish he got to reclaim his name even if we the audience never get to learn it. and finally every military character he had to interact with should have had to write him a personal letter of apology and given him three hundred thousand dollars

It’s all good.

Favourite thing: It’s the same for both of them actually, their loyalty.

For Koko it’s the way he always wants to stay by Inupi’s side through it all. He saved Takemichi because Takemichi saved him. Even when Koko left he did so because he didn’t want Inupi and Takemichi to get hurt.

He’s a little lost but his hearts generally in the right place.

For Inupi it’s his loyalty to Shinichiro and subsequently Takemichi. He never forgot Shinichiro’s words and though misguided he wanted to make the Black Dragons in the image of its founder again.

Him befriending Draken at the bike shop will always have my heart.

Least favourite thing: Koko trying to replace Inupi with his sister. For Inupi it’s when he was being a dick to Yuzuha.

Favourite line:

The way money is such a crucial part of Koko and his backstory and the way he hates it. He’s so good at what he does and he hates it. How it’s defined his self worth and who he is.

It’s so good.

-Inupi to Koko during the Tenjiku fight. I had too it’s his big moment and oh man it gave me chills. He’s known his whole life that Koko wishes he saved Akane instead.

And he’s finally telling him to see me instead of her.

That and “Hanagaki I’m sorry I couldn’t save Koko.” Because that whole scene of Takemichi carrying him has my whole heart.

BrOTP:

Koko and Takemichi. He gave himself up to save Inupi and Takemichi. He saved him from Mikey and it’s so clear that he cares about him. That Takemichi’s words of never letting anyone take his men meant a lot to him.

We don’t see a lot of them but I know they’d be good friend

Koko and Inupi. They’re as sweet as they are worrisome. The loyalty, the care that runs deep through the two of them that it hurts.

Inupi and Takemichi. They have such a sweet friendship and I love it so much. The trust and loyalty Inupi feels for Takemichi, to even entrust him with his dream for the Black Dragons. And knowing he’d follow him through hell itself.

And that Takemichi feels the same.

Inupi and Shinichiro. Lil baby Inupi who looked up to Shinichiro and wanted to be like him has my whole heart. The way he would sit and watch him in the shop it’s so sweet and sad.

Inupi and Draken. Didn’t get much of it but knowing they worked together and Draken was like a mentor to him is very important to me actually.

They’re cute together but they need a fuck ton of therapy before I can ship them.

NOTP:

Koko and Akane. I don’t care if they ever end up in a reality where they’re both adults. I think it’s a sweet crush but I would never put them together.

Random headcanon: Koko apologising to Takemichi. He knows he can’t be forgiven but with Inupi’s reassurance he asks if he can rejoin Toman.

Takemichi says no.

Koko, heartbroken nods and it’s about to leave before Takemichi smiles and says “to rejoin means you ever left. And no one will ever take my men from me. You’re first division member Kokonoi Hajime, or am I wrong?”

Koko stares in shock before smiling to himself “no no you’re not, captain.”

Inupi can’t see completely out of his right eye (because of the burn.)

Unpopular opinion: Koko is more than the guy who makes money. Inupi also has trauma from his past that deserves to be recognised.

“How old are you? Five?” Bradley scoffs at Jake, who ignores him and hums happily while licking the ice cream on the top of his cone. Spring sunlight dances on ocean waves as they get back to their beach umbrella.

Phoenix scowls at her friend and lowers her strawberry daiquiri snow cone: “Bradshaw, you’re such a killjoy.”

Despite Phoenix’s words, Bradley shoots a skeptical look at the colorful sprinkles on Bob’s soft serve and the WSO pouts slightly: “Rooster, don’t you like your soft serve?”

“Just shut up and enjoy your soft serve” Phoenix scolds him, before stretching and lying back on the deckchair, to stare at the ocean and taste her snow cone, with Bob doing the same next to her.

Jake sits down on the beach towel they had previously laid on the sand, pats the spot beside him and smiles at his boyfriend: “Come on, Bradshaw, don’t be such a sourpuss”. Bradley shakes his head and sits next to him on the same towel, trying to focus on his chocolate soft serve: “I am not, Jake.”

Jake smirks wickedly at him, the warm glow of the afternoon sun kissing his nose and cheekbones: “Be less dad and more daddy.”

“Stop that right now, Bagman”, Phoenix doesn’t even look at him, her voice dripping with annoyance.

“Yes, ma’am”, Jake goes back to his soft serve, a mischievous grin on his face, and Bradley would really like to enjoy the nuts that garnish his dessert, but he finds it difficult to take his eyes off of Jake, who’s giving kitten licks to the cream along the edges of his cone.

Jake meets his gaze, pleased, as he sucks off the soft curl on top, swirling the tongue around the tip, his eyes locked with Bradley’s. He smiles at him, running his tongue over his teeth, and Bradley is gawking at him, his jeans already getting tighter.

Jake starts nibbling at the waffle cone slowly, his lips shiny and soft, and Bradley is dying to have those lips and teeth marking his abs and thighs. Jake goes back to licking the sides of his cone unhurriedly, from bottom to top, switching his gaze to Bradley’s eyes, and he gently pushes down the ice cream with his tongue, before taking small bites of the waffle cone, tickling its edges with his lips. Bradley is out of breath, at the mercy of Jake’s cheap tricks, he’s in his 30s and he would like to feel ashamed for this, but he can’t find it within himself to care, not when Jake is batting his eyelashes at him and all he wants is to devour him.

Jake hollows his cheeks and sucks the drips that are leaking from the bottom of his cone, and Bradley can’t stop himself from picturing him on his knees, worshipping him, and he has to close his eyes to catch his breath. He opens his eyes again to gaze intently at the vanilla cream that has trailed down Jake’s chin.

Jake swipes his fingers over his skin to collect some cream, he glances guiltily at Bradley and whispers, his voice low and innocent: “I’m a mess”. He pushes his fingers past his own lips and sucks the digits greedily, his eyes lidded and an expression of pure pleasure on his face, an expression that Bradley knows damn well. The pilot’s positive that, if Bob and Phoenix weren’t so close, Jake, that little shit, would be putting on a show of soft moans. God, he loves those moans.

Bradley cannot help but gape at Jake, until the soft serve is gone, and palm himself through his jeans absent-mindedly, and it’s only when Jake smiles at him and stares at the soft serve long-forgotten in his hand, that Bradley realizes that his ice cream has dribbled down his fingers.

“Oh, let me help”, Jake murmurs quietly, taking Bradley’s soft serve to free his hand. He then brings his fingers up to his lips, kissing them gently and licking away every drip, his tongue excruciatingly slow on his skin. He sucks the fingertips while staring at Bradley with pleading eyes, his hand squeezing Bradley’s lightly.

Bradley bites back a groan, the violent urge to wreck Jake taking over, and he suddenly stands up; Jake is taken aback by his abrupt motion, he’s about to complain but Bradley grabs his hand and bursts out: “We gotta go!”

Phoenix doesn’t even turn and waves her hand above her head, Jake stands up too and Bradley starts dragging him, darting across the beach.

“What’s gotten into you?” Jake asks with an amused voice, feigning surprise.

“Holy shit, Jake, you know full well what has gotten into me” replies Bradley in a husky whisper, glaring at him.

Jake grins impishly: “Didn’t you say we’re old?”

“All the better, so i won’t have to ask permission for what i’m going to do to you.”

Bradley can feel Jake smirking without looking at him, they’re both quickening their pace, and he turns to glance at Phoenix and Bob one last time. He can’t hear what Phoenix is telling Bob from that distance, but he has never seen him blushing so hard.

Maybe Jake wasn’t that subtle, after all.

Ask Game: Char Aznable

How I feel about this character I cannot imagine anyone not getting strong opinions on Char. One of the most influential characters in the franchise and in Japanese pop culture for how many facets of his life we have seen with some of the most iconic design both for him and his mobile suits(I love the Sazabi so much). A tragic character that we can sympathize with but also loathe due to his decisions and motivations that gives a lot of nuance that Tomino and the gang wanted to explore in a war story.

All the people I ship romantically with this character Garma is the closest thing I can see him romantically healthy with tbch but sadly he is a Zabi and Char has murder on his mind(revenge is his lover) I like some charmuro art for his relationship in Zeta and Lalah for the angst but dude needs therapy more than a lover.

My non-romantic OTP for this character Amuro and Kamille just for how gay with the homies energy they give in the OL Haman manga.

My unpopular opinion about this character There as many takes as stars in the sky so idk what counts as unpopular tbh. I like him in cca I guess?

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. A scene with Haman in ZZ or some stuff between the gap of Zeta and CCA but maybe that was shown in some extra stuff I do not know about and its been a while since I've watched that movie.

favorite thing about them Oh oh I have several things I like about Illidan. First, from a design perspective, I LOVE his color palette SO much. Like its a very good middle of not being too cluttered but not overly simple, not too loud but not too muted. Its such a fine line of both and its SO good.

On a personality basis, I love how consistent he is throughout every iteration of him. imo, he's one of Blizz's better written characters. Even the retconning from TBC aside and not making him a bad guy anymore, he still works VERY well as the anti-hero type.

i also love how he interacts with the illidari. IMO hes never seen them as lesser or just "troops" but he seems to genuinely care about them all. absolutely love the fandom trope that hes the dad to them all cause he absolutely is.

least favorite thing about them tbh I can't really think of anything I dislike about Illidan? hes such a great character & I miss him dearly :( my lil ufo favorite line "YOU ARE NOT PRE- oh, what's that? he has an extensive collection of bandannas for taka in different colors and patterns and one of these has miku on it because simon likes miku and athena got it for him. his build before his release from prison was actually pretty wiry and lean although muscled, but after he gets out and learns to take care of himself he fills out more and has a softer body though still fully able to pick people up and throw them through walls. see above hc about the gym. he's actually really good with kids bc he just treats them like mini adults and doesn't baby talk to them so they like him a lot. he has some sort of Gender Feeling but he doesn't feel the need to address it. he's cool w mainly he/him but throwing in a they or a random neopronoun will make him happy too. also he has a big di-[i am forcibly dragged from the stage kicking and screaming]

Judging solely by Hard Scientific Evidence (my ao3 bookmarks) - its Established Relationship, Alternate Universe - Modern Setting and Canon Divergence (if we ignore fanfic genres). Filtered to only HP fics its Established Relationship, Alternate Universe - Modern Setting and Canon Compliant.

Although considering two of them are regarding the canon/alternate setting and aren’t exactly tropes (and Im not sure i would say i agree with this data) - I was resorted to breaking down my two OTPs (wolfstar and stucky) into pieces ;)

So, lets see what we can find inside :D

Childhood Friends to Lovers

Or friends to lovers. Or strangers to friends to lovers. Any form of buddyslash, as it used to be called, as opposed to enemyslash. I am very much not an enemies to lovers person. Even in case of rivals to lovers ships im actually interested in them after they move into a more amicable territory.

So, friends to lovers is my fav type of ship dynamic, I believe.

Im not sure why? Maybe its got sth to do with me being maybe probably on the ace spectrum. Maybe I just think a good romance starts with friendship as opposed to bad romance that starts with rah rah-ah-ah-ah.

2. Separated by war and imprisonment and Reunited against all odds

This just screams soulmatism to me, and not in a “we are soulmates bc we fit so well together” (bc r/s dont) but in a “the chances of us finding each other again were so minuscule it must have been done consciously by the universe”. Its sometimes so crazy to me that this things happened canonically. The shack scene is absolutely crazy on its own (the forgave each other 12 years of pain in one conversation) and then Sirius and Remus go live together for like a year. The whole Winter Soldier movie is, again, bonkers, when you have shipping goggles on (and even if you dont, the romance isnt in the subtext, its in the text)

I was surprised I was into exes to lovers in modern/no magic aus, but yeah its canon for r/s so it makes sense. Something something second chances something something love conquers all something something they were meant to be something something soulmates.

3. Recovering after years of torture prison

hurt/Comfort my beloved.

This trope fits fill-in-the-blanks type of canon-compliant fics for r/s and canon-divergent fix-its fics for s/b.

In case of wolfstar this is Lie Low at Lupin’s. Absolute banger. *slaps hood* This bad boy can fit so many smaller tropes. Bed sharing. Bath sharing. Helping wash/cut hair. Comforting after a nightmare. Communicating and talking and settings things straight after years of lost time. Yeah. Cannot go wrong with this one. (and I can pretend they stay in this intimate serene bubble and nothing bad ever happens to them bc im delusional)

In case of stucky its all types of post-WS or post-CW fix-its where Bucky finally gets some fucking treatment and therapy (and actual therapy, not this piss-poor excuse for a therapist from TFATWS).

In both cases there is also an interesting switch in the dynamic that im not sure i can put into right words. Just, the one that used to stand up for the other, take care of them, was more confident and outgoing, now is the one being taken care of bc they went through hell and were on a run from the government for 2 years. And the one taking care of them is doing only slightly better, had a bit more time to adjust, but still, is quite traumatized as well.
