Lore utc (i wrote a lot lmao), the uh post ch 134 stuff will be elaborated on later (or if asked. Actually, ask me anything about him. And my other oc's once they're posted. Please. I will answer in great detail. I also need a distraction. Pls.)

So basically, among the first few vampires (a 4th progenitor to be percise) turned by Shikama was a woman who showed great potential for spells and magic. She had a loving husband and child which she tragically lost in an accident. Upon turning into a vampire, her family was still the only thing on her mind. She accepted to help Shikama in his endeavors to revive Mikaela since she hoped she could revive her own family in the proccess. Unfortunately it didn't work. Disillusioned, she abandoned vampire kind and started searching for the possible reincarnation of her beloved husband, whom she may be able to have a child with and have family again.

Fast forward a a lot, and I mean a lot, of years and she arrived in 60s japan. None of the people she had hope for turned out to be the reincarnation of her late husband until that fateful day. She encountered a (rather pathetic may I add) man in his late 20s and it was like a miracle. The woman cornered the man in disbelief and from this awkward first meeting blossomed true love. Then everything went to shit lmaooo

The first problem was that the mans family didn't approve of the woman. Tough this didn't stop their love. Next was the issue of bearing a child, something that a vampire simply can't do. Well, an ordinary one but this woman was anything but ordinary. By some impossible miracle she bore a child. A biological child. (GIRL HOW?? We will never know and frankly, i don't want to think about it💀)

The child was, as expected tbh, kind of a disaster. Already born with pointy ears and sharp fangs. The child needed both human food and blood to properly sustain themselves. Drinking blood outside of their family would permanently stop their aging. Despite this, the couple was overjoyed. (And then named their child "mistake" bc that would help /s.) They named him "Machigai". Why tho?? I dunno man something along the lines of "a mistake but the best mistake of their life" bruh

So after Machigai was old enough to walk, but not old enough to remember, the mother diappeared, leaving father and child behind. The father did his best to raise such an... extraordinary child but it was understandably kind of impossible. Machigai grew up alone and isolated from his peers. He was always wearing a hood of some kind and rarley opened his mouth to talk. In high school, he met a girl who he became good friends with but she is another oc I'll post about sometime adlf,wpl.

Anyways! Come Machigai's high school graduation and 18th birthday, his father... disappeared. All he left was a note saying, that Machigai now owned the apartment and that there is enough blood in the fridge to sustain Machigai's thrist while he could grow and mature. To an already depressed and disillusioned Machigai this obviously didn't help. Throughout the next years he became a shut in, who only left the house if absolutely necessary. All he did all day was play video games, watch tv and later be on the internet. Once he ran out of his fathers blood was when things changed. He had to go out and actually find a new source of blood. Welp, sorry to unlucky bastards who went into dark alleyways at night bc these types of people became Machigai's source of blood. (That's when he stopped aging)

On one of these nightly escapades, Machigai was greeted by a large man in a neat black suit who called himself "Saito". Saito claimed to have known Machigai's mother and offered a deal: Machigai would offer up his unique constitution to the Hyakuya sect's research and in turn get a well paying job and a guaranteed source of blood. He agreed. "Welcome to the Hyakuya sect. I look forward to your performance"

Machigai was practically a lab rat for the development of cursed gear. Thanks to his half-n-half physiology he could tank wounds from cursed gear/magic n shit while still providing useful data to how effective it is. During this time Machigai aquired knowledge of vampire culture(?), became familiar with magic and it's quirks and learned how to perform simple spells and whatnot.

Around 2011, when the internet was already fairly well used, Machigai came across a forum dedicated to paranormal sightings. Various users claimed that a secluded spot in Kyoto was home to vampires. (Ferid was the one spreading these rumors btw) Most would have dissmissed this as someone wanting attention, yet Machigai was intrigued. He was well aware that vampires existed across the world but he mever knew how to actually contact them. Perhaps out of morbid curiosity, perhaps out of a genuine want for connection with people like him, he went to check out the spot. There, he met none other than the eccentric Ferid Bathory who specifically manufactured the rumor to meet Machigai (extra much?). He was well aware of Machigai's work for Rígr "Saito" Stafford and was trying to one up his father by stealing his most prized lab-rat. Machigai declined, not trusting a single thing out of that vampires mouth. Ferid left, already proclaiming that one day Machigai would be working for him.

Machigai stuck around that area as it was already well into the night and public transport wouldn't start up until the early morning. There he met another vampire: Crowley Eusford. Their meeting wasn't planned or meticulously calculated, it was actually rather awkward. Their chat was meaningless and short but in the end leagues above whatever Ferid likes to plan. Crolwey has already unwillingly heard about this curious being from Ferid and seeing Machigai himself left him wanting to learn more about him. Machigai was left a little hopeful, that perhaps it's not too late for him to look for connections.

So the apocalypse rolls around-

Machigai makes a deal with Saito that in exchange for his freedom (*eagle screech*) he would keep his mouth shut about anything the Hyakuya sect discovered while Machigai was there.

Machigai seeks out the Demon Army where he successfully keeps his half vampire identity a secert until someone on his squad gets blackmailed into revealing it. Before that, he gets a cursed weapon, a pair of daggers. And lo and behold, the demon possessing the daggers is his own mother. Unfortunately since the now demonic mother didn't witness Machigai growing up, she falsey believes to be able to still shape Machiagi to her will. After getting locked up by the army, Machigai completley gives up, only wishing for his miserable existence to end (spoiler: It won't! Ever. :) ). He ultimately loses any and all trust he has in humanity or just anything in general.

After about half a year of grueling torture and some experimentation, Machigai gets freed (kidnapped) by Ferid and promptly brought to Kyoto Sangiuem. Krul Tepes, finding Machigai to be useful in her fake-ish war against humanity and whatever she's planning with Yuu and Mika, lets him be part of the japanese vampires under Ferids faction. Ferid found himself unwilling to deal with the often uncooperative and irritated new "recruit" so he did what he does best and made it Crowley's problem.

After a rather agressive and disrespectful first impression, Machigai was officially a... coworker? of Crowley and thus also Chess and Horn in Nagoya. The three got the additional task by Ferid to somehow domesticate this feral and angry stray animal and get him to open up. At least that's how Ferids orders were phrased. Shenanigans, Drama and FeelingsTM ensue.

okay so I need to just. post weekly about my DRV3 replay to hold myself accountable to some progress otherwise it's going to take forever to get through it again

hello drv3 tag, I am doing a replay. I'm only through the prologue and just into chapter 1. some notable events thus far

the pre-prologue ... prologue? where the cast is their "pre-game" selves is such a bizarre choice of scene. I replayed it several times and I'm still unsure why it's there. the simple answer is that it exists only to cast doubt on Tsumugi's version of events in chapter 6, but that explanation doesn't quite satisfy me

the flashback lights were introduced. a device that can alter memories. with no clear rules or in-universe limitations. I don't recall an additive explanation on those points later. that's fine. I'm sure my memory of DRV3 is wrong and Kodaka didn't just blow up his setting like a teenager behind the wheel in an action movie car chase

Kokichi has been in 3 scenes so far. the only one in which he didn't directly contradict himself is in the pre-prologue. he had the opportunity! he had *2* lines! but they were both questions

Tsumugi: Ah…that bronze dragon statue over there. I’m just plain curious about it. Tsumugi: It almost seems like it’s floating, right? Doesn’t it look pretty out of place? Kaede: Now that you mention it…you’re right. It sorta bothers me, too.

they did not elaborate. I have no idea what they mean. I walked around the thing to get a view from every conceivable angle. it doesn't appear to be floating - not between the dragon and it's slab, or the slab and the floor

sure, from certain angles, you could argue that between the slab and the floor, it KIND OF appears to be floating due to perspective and a lack of occlusion or cast shadow. but if I swivel a couple degrees there is a tree made of a flat texture with no shadow in a 3D space, so I'm not sure I'd make the argument that that is intentional

and I saw these stairs!

this pink pattern on first-to-second floor stairs resembles a temporary texture file. last I checked in with the game dev scene, because of how textures are added atop 3D models, it was practical to utilize a generic repeating pattern before doing any committal custom texture work for an object's final appearance. otherwise you might get unseemly tiling or seams

there are two other objects accessible within the prologue that have this pattern as well: the stairs to the basement and gate-style door between the main area of the first floor and the gym. so although you could, I personally wouldn't make the argument these are "un"intentional "missed" textures

filing this one under: 'devs wanted to give you the option to believe in virtual reality', 'possible pranks by in-universe Team Danganronpa', and 'one of the monokubs has really bizarre taste in wallpaper'

these cursed lockers are outside the gym

there is a double-stack of boys lockers and girls lockers to each side of the door. I say they're cursed because they're ... completely disorganized. they don't appear to be in any kind of sensible arrangement and WORSE. they don't even match the dormitory room assignment order

I think this fully justifies any murder committed by housekeeping tbh

there is a whole series of these babies in the prologue's opened areas. there are 18 total. 12 of them being in 4 sets of 3 down the hallway to the left after coming down the stairs from the second floor. these appear to be actual photos with some filters thrown on top

they are hard to make out, but they appear to be nondescript fields, mountains, seas and buildings. considering them all together makes me think of an island, but beyond that, I'm unsure of their purpose

I like these ones adjacent to Kaede's ultimate research lab. doesn't the one to the right look like a smug little creature

if it's been a while since you've played DRV3, you may not remember that the school was still being built during the prologue by Monokuma and the monokubs. these steel boxes appear to be storage containers for the construction

they evoke both an outer-space and nautical theme with the pressure gauges and handles that resemble ship helms

in the prologue, arguably the third and fourth floors are not yet constructed and absolutely the clock tower is non-existent

the clock tower where, y'know, Kaito's lab was located and everyone burst out of cryogenic chambers or something to start their new life in space. according to sources. sources in chapter 5

I don't think there is a single clock, person, or mechanical bear-shaped entity in this game that is tracking time correctly

What’s your thoughts on tm9 suggesting working with Trent? Do you think tm9 are being “bad friends”? I have seen a lot of discussion on it and I was wondering what your thoughts are. Apologies if you have already shared your thoughts.

I have shared at least some of my thoughts but, as always, give me an inch and I will take one thousand miles and then take one thousand more. If you wanted a normal answer, please click on that link and then feel free to stop reading. If you want me to yell about behaviors in fandom that fill me with rage (and also some additional thoughts about the Mighty Nein in this episode, to be fair, which I’ve marked so you can skip to it), read on.

GOOD FUCKING LORD I AM PRETTY SURE A CERTAIN SMALL BUT LOUD PORTION WITHIN FANDOM, AND THIS IS ABOUT FANDOM IN GENERAL AND NOT SPECIFIC TO THE CRITICAL ROLE, ACTUAL PLAY, NOR D&D FANDOM, HAS NEVER HAD A FUNCTIONAL FRIENDSHIP OR RELATIONSHIP IN THEIR LIVES WHAT WITH THE WAY THEY TALK ABOUT CHARACTER INTERACTIONS. LIKE WHAT THE FUCK.

I don’t think that any of the Mighty Nein were being at all inappropriate during this conversation in the first place, and more on that below, but also like, people say insensitive things to their friends all the time! It’s impossible to account for every situation that could potentially upset someone, and sometimes people need to have difficult conversations! I’ve said this before with people in private conversations but there is an exhausting amount of discourse for CR (but also, like, in general about fictional media by people who are Way Too Online) regarding who really understands and cares about whom and it’s like. They are all friends. They have all referred to each other as found family. They all care about each other. And with that in mind, it’s also true that if you or anyone else were to give me literally any pairing of two characters in the Nein, romantic or platonic, I can without considerable effort name an interaction in which one of them said or did something hurtful or insensitive to the other, because this is a thing that happens when different people with different perspectives and experiences talk to each other for any length of time.

A not-insignificant amount of discourse, in my opinion, has nothing to do with how real interpersonal relationships work and is entirely "this is my favorite/least favorite character (or ship) and I think everyone should also think they are flawless/terrible” and if I had to guess this is probably more of the same. But even if it’s not just that, the idea that the only “good” friendship is one devoid of arguments, slip-ups, and even the most minor of transgressions and anything else is “bad” or “toxic” is so divorced from reality I absolutely cannot engage with it without wanting to scream. Which is not to say that a single action by a friend, even a close one, could never be enough to invalidate the friendship. But it has to be a pretty significant and deliberate violation, and in my opinion the events of this episode do not even budge the needle.

With that out of the way before I return to it at the end: I think the overarching attitude of the Mighty Nein on the whole is “this is going to be an incredibly difficult fight, and we need to discuss all of our options, even distasteful ones that none of us particularly like.”

The linked post talks a lot about why I think Fjord brought it up in the first place, but from there, I would say that Yasha was the only one who was consistently on the side of “No,” which is in line with her character. We know Caduceus is fairly sure they’re going to die without additional help and has seen by far the most terrifying visions of what happens if they fail; that Jester likely has some similar ideas to Caleb regarding “if Trent’s with us, at least he’s not going after Marion”; and while Beau brought up the downsides of working with one’s abuser it’s highly worth noting she was still entertaining it: she floats that maybe this could kill two birds with one stone [2:01:10-ish on the Twitch video].

Veth strikes me as the one who came closest to “pushing” Caleb, and this has been a theme recently. I’m not fully sure about this - Veth is often a character I struggle to get a handle on - but I think it’s a combination of her family being at risk in the same way Jester’s is, her own feelings of guilt or shirked responsibility about leaving the Nein after this before Caleb has achieved his goals particularly given how instrumental he was to achieving hers, and a little bit of still seeing Caleb how he was earlier on, when they first met. That last reason is definitely frustrating when it happens in real life, but it’s a very real phenomenon, the first one is wholly understandable, and the middle one is both. Basically, are those actions a little selfish? Yeah, but people are selfish sometimes. There’s a reason why even when I don’t understand her Veth (and, tbh, all the Mighty Nein) feels like a wholly realized person, and it’s because of things like this, where she has real reactions and emotional turmoil in response to an incredibly stressful situation instead of being blandly understanding.

On top of that, anything that denies that Caleb was not entertaining it, particularly after he quite literally says he’s considered it, feels like ignoring his response because it doesn’t fit a particular narrative. It ignores the entire conversation with Essek, in which Caleb is the one who brings it up first, Caleb is the one who continues to argue for it after Essek expresses his discomfort, and Caleb is the one who says he’s frustrated that his attempt to persuade Essek fails.

Returning to the generalized rant but at what point do you (the abstract you, not you the anon) stop overlaying how you think someone should react and actually listen to people? One of the things in this world that genuinely angers me the most that isn’t, you know, atrocities, is when people assume how someone feels instead of asking them and persist in doing so even when told otherwise, and this is probably why the whole “the Mighty Nein are bad friends” statement has prompted such a strong response from me here. I don’t think I’m saying anything revolutionary here but all the arguments in favor of that statement are stupid! If you don’t ask for a hug, sometimes you won’t get one! If you don’t say you’re uncomfortable you can’t assume people will be aware of it! The realest distinction between good and bad friends, actually, is whether they listen to what you’re saying or if they just project what they think you should be saying, and whether they tell you what they want from you or if they make up elaborate unspoken rules that you’re supposed to magically intuit and follow. Not whether they never make mistakes, or disagree, or bring up difficult topics.

Uh, anyway, this is probably a whole lot more and maybe not even related to what you were looking for but really, the idea that a deep friendship can be reclassified into a binary from good to bad based on two conversations, and the related idea that every interaction that isn’t perfectly harmonious must have someone to blame instead of acknowledging the full depth and breadth of normal healthy interpersonal interactions, are both absolutely terrible ideas and I would love if people in general would immediately stop having them.

Possibly controversial BotW2 take time:

I'm... genuinely apprehensive about Zelda's character arc in the sequel.

What I mean by this is the fact that the second trailer showed her falling into a bottomless void. This is... pretty significant, tbh. I mean, if that happens to any other character (possibly barring Link), then we have to assume that they are dead. I mean, it's literally the 'Disney Villain Death' archetype ffs.

However, nobody actually believes that Zelda is dead, do they? I mean, come on, lol.

Now, obviously, the idea of 'plot armour' is nothing new nor unique to Zelda specifically.

However, my... grievance, if you will, comes from the fact that, well... this is hardly the first time that Zelda, and BotW Zelda more specifically, has been faced with a situation in which there is no conceivable way that she survives, short of a Deus Ex Machina. Oftentimes in Zelda lore, it is a literal divine act that facilitates her survival, but I digress.

To elaborate, in BotW, Zelda was faced with an unwinnable scenario: She was powerless at Ganon's return, and could do nothing to oppose him. However, just at the moment when she was about to die, her powers awoke in a LITERAL Deus Ex Machina, and she then managed to somehow seal Ganon for an ENTIRE CENTURY until Link returns. There are other examples in the series, but this is the most important one in the context of BotW Zelda's character.

The difference between Zelda and every other character in BotW is that when the other characters were faced with an unwinnable situation, THEY ALL DIED. Even Link, although his plot significance/in universe divine favouritism gets him resurrected.

This situation always grated on me, tbh. And now, we have Zelda bring faced with another situation that seems eminently fatal, yet we are all certain that she will somehow survive it.

To clarify, it's not that I want Zelda to die. Far from it. Rather, I want to explore the devastation and grief that the events of BotW should have left on her psyche, and see what actions she and Link take in response to that.

However, I'm gonna be honest and say that if we're given some bullshit handwave justification as to why this fall doesn't kill Zelda, then I'm going to be extremely upset, from a narrative perspective.

I mean, honestly, the whole thing reeked of a lazy way to reset the status quo to that of BotW, with Link being forced to go on a quest to rescue Zelda again, despite the fact that this would just be retreading the ground that BotW already walked. This fear is compounded by the presence of Ganon as the BBEG once again, despite the fact that it was a rather significant part of BotW's plot that he had been defeated by the end.

I mean, I honestly hope that Nintendo surprises me in a good way on this matter. However, I'm having a hard time seeing what direction they could take other than an empty death fake-out that separates Link and Zelda.

I suppose my issue is that BotW put a large emphasis on the deaths of characters. However, this message very much clashes with the fact that certain characters (I.e. Ganon, Link, Zelda) seem to be utterly immune to death, despite the fact that they are placed in narrative situations that they have no reasonable way of surviving, or get resurrected basically for free.

Anyone who knows me knows what I believe the most thematically consistent route going forwards would be, with respect to Link and Zelda's characters, however a plot devoted to resurrection (whether successful or otherwise) is not a route that I think Nintendo will take (despite an absolute plethora of narrative justifications from a lore and character-driven perspective), further cementing my unease.

Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why? I write fluff, angst (lots), and sometimes crack. While I can rec some awesome smuts, I don’t feel comfortable writing explicit smut as of yet, although I will elude to some smexy time. I do have a WIP that I will one day write that will definitely include smut because it’s part of the story.

Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc? I have some OG OCs and my starter fics on Tumblr were third-person female reader. However, recent works include x you (reader) and I find that really fun and easier to write! I don’t really write any ships for Kpop.

Why did you decide to write for Tumblr? Having read so many awesome works on Tumblr made me want to write and hopefully have other readers experience the same feelings I do when I read that great piece. However, my original goal was just to write for Monsta X since there aren’t a whole lot of fics for them but also because I have too many ideas running in my mind. Lastly, I just write for myself.

What inspires you to write? The groups I write for, other things I read (like mangas and/or shows), and especially songs!

What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most? I write best fluff for established relationships because otherwise it’s all just angst, which is a lot of fun to write while keeping it not too toxic unless stated otherwise for plot. I also love silly fics for giggles. As for Au’s I enjoy regular day to day life with a spin or fantasy based Au’s.

What do you hope your readers take away from your work? I hope they just feel a strong emotion - depending on the genre. I hope that they get to the end and find all the nuances I try to sprinkle throughout the story hinting to clues or plot devices. That’s always what I try to aim for.

What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively? Cry. Jokes aside, I take a break/breather to refocus and take time for myself. I also read professional works to take my mind off things or get inspired. 

What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful? My personal favorite of my published works would be my Han Jisung x reader, Promise. It was my first kpop fic and a gift to my friend. I think it’s a hallmark of my return to writing and I look forward to publishing more of my favorite plots! My most successful is Spiderling, a Jeon Jungkook x reader fic, not surprised at all that my first official BTS fic would be the most popular one of my current works haha.

Who is your favorite person to write about? Honestly, I have so many ideas for Changkyun haha. I feel like he’s totally boyfriend material and can fit different roles from a total fratboy to a soft boyfriend. But I’m trying to expand both my writing and pairings and it’s a fun challenge to write for the different boys.

Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose? I actually do! In my honest opinion, fanfiction is work about an already established character/person/universe. It’s easier for me to think up ideas for characters already prepped because I personally get lost in the details already of thinking up terms/universes to place the story in. I have a character that’s already established and people know about without having to elaborate on those finer details.

What do you think makes a good story? Proper formatting goes a long way. While I don’t judge on grammar and spelling mistakes, it is a much smoother read if people follow basic narrative-writing skills. I feel like anyone who can embody their own style and ideas (without being discriminatory or mean), then they’ve really got me hooked.

What is your writing process like? A mess. I know a lot of people outline, and I try that sometimes. But, normally I just get straight into writing what I’ve brainstormed, maybe adding some notes for future events here and there. If I get tied up at a certain part, I make a messy line break and start another scene.

Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story? Yes. Funnily enough though, I repurpose my original storylines for fics, but if I could, I would write an original story.

What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand? I can’t stand cliches but I WILL cry over them if they’re well-written and/or have a spin on them. So, ultimately I’m down for anything. Enemy to lovers isn’t always my favorite but @gukyi​ does a great job, since that’s her renowned trope.

How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you? A lot! I have a few lovely mootz that always have something nice to say, but I would love more reader interaction! Of course, I’m a newer writer and haven’t blown up so it is to be expected that I’m a little lonely right now. I hope that’s not a long-term thing.

What has been one of the biggest factors of your success (of any size)? Who I write for. Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged? Yes, at times and with certain topics. We all know people will go on anon and tear anyone down for whatever reason.

Do you think art can be a medium for change? Definitely! Writing for the public,(especially fanfic and reader-based fics) especially in these times, means you have to adapt and adhere to the ever-changing times. We have a role to play in how people perceive things, whether that’s regarding an IRL person or how we view others with representation.

Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself? Huh, as of now, I feel like I’m writing for myself. Without a lot of interaction, I don’t feel pressure. I do want to write for other groups, but as of now I’m trying to pick up speed with certain groups. I have a lot of WIPs, so we will see where I end up.

Hi. I know a person that often connects two things thinking there is a =, a consequence, or some other relationship between two things when it's not the case. He's seeing facts (not caring about the source) as an affirmation of his believes, twisting the logic to make it work. I think he's infj, but could this work for some other type too? Thank you!

It could happen for every type tbh. That's usually called confirmation bias. However, it will manifest differently for each type, and some types are more prone to this bias than some other types. 

Rapidly, confirmation bias is some kind of cognitive distortion that pushes the person to focus and recall only the information that fits the vision they unconsciously seek to prove and interpret it according to their distorted beliefs.

The most prone to this kind of bias are usually introverted types because of the priority on subjective (introvert) perception and judging. Introverted Intuitives will also be more likely to fall for that bias than their sensor counterparts, because well, intuition is not based on tangible facts to begin with. Extroverted type can also be vulnerable to that kind of mental trick, but more so when they grip. Otherwise, they rather have a problem with not seeing (P axis) or interpreting (J axis) accurately the connections between events, which will be the realm of introverted functions to do so. 

The way you explained how this person does it sounds INFJ tho. What tells which type the person is, is "how" they twist reality. INFJs tend to fall for that confirmation bias when either they are young and have immature Ni or when they loop. Ni will want to be confirmed, but Fe's "objectivity" is threatening to the Ni vision, it could disprove it or ask modification to better fit with reality (Se). Therefore it gets rejected. Ti is then overused to explain according to whatever sounds logical and coherent with the INFJ's Ni vision. Therefore, anything not fitting the Ni vision and Ti explanation gets rejected and ignored. Ni will focus only on seeing connections where it wants to find them and then interpret them as they want it to (Ti). Se's reality gets deformed totally and Fe is not used anymore to check how it falls off according to common knowledge and "rules".

but soonyoung actually loves hearing you focusing really hard for a test or thinking about something you consider “boring”!!!! because the idol life means he doesn’t get those mundane moments and he’s glad he gets to share them with you

for him it’s hardest when he’s up choreographing and you’re having a rough night worrying about something :( because he wants to be able to cheer you up because that’s what soonyoung does best, but he can’t :(

the first time you actually communicate with him is when he’s having a really stressful time preparing for a comeback…..at this point you’ve sort of figured out he must be a famous performer of some sort because his thoughts are always revolving around stages and choreography

but most of all you’ve been hearing him worrying a lot about comments he’s read online….. and unlike the usual cheerful (if not a bit stressed) thoughts you hear from soonyoung, he seems really down on himself

after a couple of weeks of feeling this from his end, there’s a particularly bad night where soonyoung is up really late trying to perfect choreography on his own and suddenly you get this influx of really angry and upset thoughts blaming himself

and when you hear “we’ll fail because of me” you know you can’t just listen to this anymore because you can’t let soonyoung…. the hardworking, kind, lovely soonyoung you’ve heard all your life…. **your** soonyoung…. you can’t let him feel this way without at least trying to convince him otherwise

so you squeeze your eyes shut and focus as hard as you can on the thought “it’s not your fault soonyoung, please believe me”

and halfway across seoul, as he runs through the choreo for the millionth time, soonyoung hears you loud and clear, talking to him for the first time, and it’s like suddenly a wall crashes down and you guys can hear each other easily

that night you talk for hours, soonyoung telling you about seventeen and the comeback and how he’s afraid people think he doesn’t belong in the group ,,,,,,,, and quietly he hears you tell him that you can’t imagine anyone deserves it more than him

and for once he believes that when he hears it

you pass out at 4am and in the morning soonyoung will not stop talking about you to the boys…… wonwoo is like “we get it they’re kind and wonderful and amazing and i’m glad you guys talked but please … be quiet”

you expect to be able to talk to soonyoung all the time now but it seems like it doesn’t work like that ;( because in the morning you can hear him thinking about you and he can hear you thinking about him

but when you try to talk to each other, it doesn’t get through!!!!!!

both of you kinda mope but then you realize…...you know who he is now and you know exactly how you can meet him…… he’s an idol! he has fan meets!

you figure you can go to a seventeen fanmeeting and hopefully you’ll get to talk to him and he’ll recognize you 

and if it doesn’t work…… then you suppose it wasn’t meant to happen like that and you’ll meet each other another time, on fates terms

waiting is the hardest part, because now that you’ve communicated with each other you really really really want to meet soonyoung in real life and he wants to meet you too, but you can’t because you didn’t share phone numbers or anything!!!

every day soonyoung is like “i wonder how they are” and the rest of the boys r like oh my GOD you are so WHIPPED and you haven’t even met yet

basically you guys are already head over heels in love w/ each other but now you just have to wait

anyways finally seventeen has a fanmeet in seoul and you wait in line nervously, your new album tucked to your chest (you never listened to seventeen before but once you found out your soulmate was in it….you listened to all their songs and even bought their albums)

with no idea what to expect, you get inside the venue and you see soonyoung and you’re……..floored

because if he was beautiful in the fancams you watched….. he’s unreal in person….. as he smiles at the boy next to him you feel your heart beat like crazy imagining him smiling at you

time passes so slowly but honestly it’s alright because you get to look at him, and suddenly you’re at the front of the line for signings and you’re like…...oh my god oh my god oh my god

everything’s in slow motion until you reach soonyoung and you guys make eye contact and the rest of the noise in the room fades out and you just hear him think “it’s you”

you guys smile at each other without saying anything and it’s the perfect moment until one of the staff members is like rushing you along and you’re like…..wait what but then you’re like oh right…. this is his job

but as soon as you’re done getting your album signed another staff member asks you to come backstage and you’re like thank GOD because now that you’ve met your soulmate for real you don’t know what you would do if you had to just. leave him again

it takes forever but the event ends and soonyoung comes backstage to the room you’re sitting in and all you can do is say “hello” awkwardly before he comes and engulfs you in a bear hug

this feeling of relief that you’re with him after all these years of waiting…..sweeps over you and you can’t help but tear up a little bit as you hug him back

seventeen has more schedules so he explains he can’t spend time with you right away but you exchange numbers and talk a tiny bit, and as he’s leaving he presses a kiss to your cheek and ur like WOW!!!!! that happened!!!

your first date is late at night because it’s the only time soonyoung can meet and you guys just walk around and he buys you snacks from a convenience store 

you stay out way too late talking so you sleep in and miss your morning class lmao

he kisses you for real on your third date when you guys are watching a movie at your apartment and you move together so naturally that it doesn’t even feel like the first kiss, you were expecting **sparks** but it feels like you’ve been kissing for years instead, and that’s even better

which honestly is like your whole relationship with soonyoung!!!! it feels like you’ve been dating forever…… there’s no need for awkwardness or elaborate romantic dates because you’re content just being together…. just being close to each other

he always calls you “my soulmate” as a nickname and it’s disgustingly cheesy but you love it ;(

because you can sense each other’s emotions, fights sort themselves out easily and when one of you is having a rough time it’s easy to tell…. which is especially good for soonyoung because he keeps negative emotions to himself and before you there wasn’t really anyone he could let those feelings out with

but now when you feel that he’s upset, you call him right away and your voice calms him down, or if you can’t call you just talk to him quietly through his thoughts and he’s so so grateful for having you in his life

when the two of you are going to sleep together or cuddling he mumbles into your hair about how when he’s not so busy with work he’s going to marry you and spend every possible second with you and it makes u really emo because you love him so much

you guys have a bunch of dumb inside jokes and laugh so much together …… soonyoung never ever fails to make you happy and he thinks you’re the funniest person in the world but everyone else is like “wtf” when you guys are cracking up

the perfect soulmate couple because you balance each other out so well and always support each other unconditionally and you just…. fit in a way neither of you never thought you could fit with anyone

but you fit with each other and that’s what really matters !!!!!!!

Survey Results Part 3 : The Negatives

Been dreading this section! The question was “ Would like to hear what you feel could use improvement? Please be constructive! “

My comments will be in bold.  Identifying comments may have those portions redacted.

Combat System Related

“The combat system is tremendously complicated to configure and use. You have to make templates to guide the new players or they will not attract you. In my case I have decided not to use it, it requires too much time and there are faster options that favor roleplay “

The template suggestion is a good idea.  This is one of the easier to learn systems we’ve used over the years though, if anyone has any trouble configuring it feel free to poke any online staff board or ask in the Discord, we’re here to help! 

“ LRS needs to be balanced, going all points offense is just too much of an advantage “

Sorry you feel that way! We do have meter as a “needs improvement”, and high priority in that category.

“ Less complicated systems not everyone is waaaaayy into the Dungeons and Dragons Aspect. i myself am from a era in SWRP where everything was Combat Meter. People will debate that combat meter is not rp and they are right from a certain point of view. However before we attacked someone or another group we extensively rped out the scenario these days its all DICE MATH DICE MATH i am horrible at math i come to SL to relax and just play out my character with the occasional battle here and there. Now i am aware thats all the current generation of SWRP but the freedom is very limited i'd prefer old school honor FFC above meter and dice but i realize there is a huge trust issue in the community which i gotta admit is somewhat logical considering the amounts of people that god-modded in the past especially the Sith and Jedi who all were SUPAH powerfull. Hell i'm a sith too but i hide it and play like Palpatine nobody knows i'm sith unless they are sufficiently alligned with the force to sense the intense dark energy hidden. 

 Eh long story short. Focus more on ROLEPLAY and less on DICE or any other system.

 In the end we all come to SL to escape the hectics of life adding complicated systems like CLOCKS [Large Events only as far as i heard ] does make me want to just walk away. Turfs work pretty neat but requires more consistent rules like Take 1 turf a week to prevent Big groups such as my [REDACTED] to Streamwall it all I can go on for hours but wont bother you guys ;) I love the casual rp on the sim that's what drew me in “

We’re looking at things like Clocks & Turf for revision or termination.  Those behind it are no longer with us, and we do feel it’s current version is too heavy.  The add ons such as that are not mandatory for players to know, they’re more for group leads and often something they can opt out of as well under certain circumstances.

“ Make LRS more like d20 “

I wish this one elaborated a bit more.

“ Only thing I can really think of, is maybe more instructive ways to teach the LRS system, notecards can be helpful. Explain such things like weapons, armor, items, in general to be obtained, where to get them etc. Host events to maybe entice people to get them. And maybe, have more items with different stats, mind you I realize some share different stats, but from what I can see in the starter items, very few have different stats. Not saying, starter items should be powerful, just saying the things I've noticed. I could be mistaken with the items itself, and may need more experience in it. Anyway, thank you for your time :) “

Some good suggestions here.

“ Leveling/Rank system is kinda meh'. While I do like a system that has leveling/rank to it keeps people honest and cuts down on meta/god emoting and shit. I feel like the gaps between some of the higher ranks and lower ranks seem like kinda insane. Which might be intended if so then I suppose it's fine but I feel like Emi basically can't interact with certain people in a hostile manner once she learns their abilities cause you she would have be insane to try it again lol. “

The gaps are actually much less significant than they have been in the prior systems we’ve used such as SWT & Chimera but will look further into that.  I’ve personally lost to a 1 on a 5, so it’s not invincible mode by any means.

Build/Setting Related

“i feel it might be nice to see more places for people to sit and hang out around coronet, maybe replace some of the derelict vehicles or make it so you can sit on them like benches. id like to see more items handed out as mission rewards even if rarely. “

“ I'd like for there to be more places to sit in Vreni and Corenet. benches or just something as simple like being able to sit on clutter such as crates, vehicles, or even ledges. “

Been working on this, adding in more benches, small parks, etc.  As well as getting more staff the ability to generate items that can be given as rewards. If anyone is running a storyline that they want to request items for ask in the Discord or ask me directly, if I’m busy I can at least point you to someone who can help

“ more fun, less stress ... but I have no clue how to make that happen other than just focusing on RP and letting everything else go entirely “

I agree! I assume this one is more about staff than the playerbase as we’ve been pretty happy with the low number of OOC player vs player incidents.

“ Rentals availability notifier “

“ It's hard to find personal rentals. I wish there was a map or something that showed where there were rentals available. “

Since the survey have added enough rentals to catch up on the waiting list.  While the waiting list is now empty they are all full last I checked so will add more.  The waiting list is why the boxes often auto-lock and do not notify.  When we do have freed up rentals and no list I let people know in Discord announcements. If you want to get on said list let Zenless know, specify which of the rental types/location.  Generally go down the list when one becomes free but if I don’t hear back from someone in 48 hours move on to the next person.

“ The island build kinda tbh “

Would have liked elaboration as to why, I personally enjoy the contrasts in setting.

“ Add a area we can rez items we buy “

We do have a build box, but yeah need to be in the landgroup to rez, this is to protect the sim from griefers.

“ I feel like the furries need to be toned down, a lot of them seem to be pushing the limit on what is okay for a character. Otherwise I don't have a whole lot that comes to mind. “

If you have concerns about an avatar, contact a GM or an Admin.  No one else should be confronting people about avatar appearance.  Mentors will help those wondering if their avatars conform as well.

“ More open areas, like forests, deserts and snowy mountains, depicting the different Corellian environments and bringing more RP scenario options. “

Worked on it with the addition of the RP scenes, currently there are 4, we may switch them up now and then, any player can use these for their adventures. As of writing this we have a snowy one, a shadowy planet, a jungle and a minimalist desert.  It often depends how many prims we have free how details these are.  Things are also added to them specifically for a story, etc.

Story Related

Would love to! Contact Zenless anytime you have something you would like printed on the news, we’ll take anything from briefs to full length articles. It’s generally me (Zen) who ends up writing most, but would love to have more contributors.

“ Easier access to groups. More storys that involve the "lesser" people that arnt part of a huge faction. Less hiding the roleplayers in faction bases. “

“ More events and gatherings for other time zones. It sucks that all of them are always at 9PM at night US EST. Some of us have jobs... “

“ Most improvements are at the group level. All group leads should be working to give their players some daily content. Whether it be a small quest, large mission, or just something to progress their IC storylines. Right now it seems group leads are more there for policing than GM (game master) “

The Sim Build should also be improved to reflect 4D Coruscant. While an Island is nice it is only ever used for beach parties or the Jedi. Whilst every other RP is taking place in Coronet City or the Event Boxes. I am sorry if this was not very constructive but typing it out is a lot harder than explaining on voice. Lot of similar themes in these 6 so I’ll touch on them at once. Our group leads have been great and have been the primary ones responsible for the high levels of activity.  On the other hand since the start we had a story team that did not put much time and effort in other than those who were also group leads.  There was a main story arch yet few if any segments were ever run, and when these people left they asked for their stories not to be used so we had to go back to the drawing board. We’re working very hard to get more people involved in stories/running stories, do let me know if you are interested as we’re always looking for more aid.  Typically we bring on people as mentors first, find out what they do well and help with stories if desired.

You could go to CorSec ICly.  This one really seems like an IC issue as it is technically a violation of Corellian policy/law.

Staff/Management/Leadership Related

As some may have noticed there has been an overhaul of staff, much of this will seek to address any of the comments here. Everyone knows I say what I think to a fault.  So I’ll be transparent in my POV (take as you will) though I’m sure some are going to be unhappy I even touched on this.   The SWL Community was in bad shape after what happened on 4D for those who were here for that, I made a bad judgement call in some of the people I partnered with as our views were incompatible. I was very depressed after 4D (our prior region), and didn’t input as much as I should have when it came to staffing the sim, so they filled the staff with those who I’d consider their “friends”. Staff often became a battlefield of ideology between myself and what I saw as a circle of friends.  In no way am I ever a perfect angel, and there are patches that I could have navigated better so I am responsible for the conflicts within staff as much as the departed are.  Sometimes people just don’t work well together.  What’s done is done though and moving forward I feel we’ve been making a lot of progress in having a more cohesive team.  Still some rough patches as any sim with a decent sized playerbase is going to have it’s share of arguments, but I can say for certainty that everyone involved in leadership now genuinely cares about the community and that we’ll do our best to listen to the players and strive for consistent improvement.

We are here to help the story move along but because we are the only ones really using the Clock system. Our use of it in my opinion should be rewarded not, not discouraged so that way other groups are encouraged to use it also. And this isn't me complaining, this is how what is being said is being perceived. “

The staff member who said this is among those who departed (who have been mentioned often here). We’ll strive for a fair environment for everyone/all groups where goal posts aren’t moved on a whim.

“ My friend who had been rping here for a few days before me and participated in two events got told she couldn't rank up because she "only earned 1 exp" meanwhile I got enough to level up and that isn't cool because we both pretty much did everything together so it feels like there might've been some bias there. “

I know it’s repetitive but the person who did this is among those who departed.  Fixed this personally as being consistent is of extreme importance to us.

“ Maybe a little more staff so no one feels overburdened. Would love to see currency added to LRS (kind of like Chimera), most inventory items/upgrades/mods/etc. Otherwise, I love this place. Great people and great fun! “

We are currently interested in taking on another mentor or two as there is a lot of work to be done, but we’re being careful in that we want a staff that can get a long to avoid a lot of the feedback that was brought up here on staff environment being internally hostile.  

MISC

“ Clear advertisement of those willing to mesh-build or animate on commission for players would be nice! Even if we don't take them up on it, knowing it is available helps. “

I like this suggestion, will think of ways to try to advertise for them.

“ - More sim events for common people 

- More story events at current scale before we try and move large scale. We really haven't even tested the waters here and yet we're trying to move larger? It's like an amusement park with one slide saying we need to buy more land rather than build more attractions in the available space to entertain people. Lets try and utilize the current setting to its fullest before we decide it needs to go larger - The main social hub moved to a neutral ownership.

 - More balanced meter 

- Less outrageous things being brought onto sim. The more outrageous things get, the harder it is to bring content because that content gets dismissed by one person with the snap of a finger rather than being a tension and toil to overcome It also puts newer players at a huge social disadvantage. “

This one touched on a lot of things so put it in misc.  Pretty much touched on everything but “outrageous” in other sections.  What people consider outrageous is very subjective but we do try to avoid anything too crazy.

“ A lot of people are a bit bossy and obligating others what to do with their character, especially how they look. That makes people, certainly those who put a lot of effort in them, really pissed. Maybe a send out that we all should respect each other in how we look and how we roleplay. Not everyone is a rich ass who can buy what they want or so experienced in roleplay as the other. So the basic thing is respect. “

True.  If any issues with an avatar or anything else, a GM or Admin should be contacted.  Players hostilely confronting other players is often something that will be considered a minor offense which can lead to disciplinary scenarios.  If you need any help do let one of us know, it makes me very sad when I hear about someone being given a hard time over something like that.

In conclusion, thank you to everyone who filled out the survey.  This was the hardest section to give feedback on as it does touch on a lot of “drama” elements.  I’m not the smartest admin, def not the most PR or PC, I speak from the heart.  It means a lot to me that after six years and all the obstacles that people are still here. I’ll do my best to try to improve everyone's experience.  Please keep in mind we are a VERY diverse role-play community and it’s literally impossible to fully please everyone, sometimes the good of the many will outweigh the good of the few but the tyranny of the majority is also something you always try to keep at bay.   

SWRP as a whole has now lasted about fifteen years as you can trace it’s origins back to 2003 while the first groups and sims really got going in 2004 with groups like the Mandalorians under Dazzo Street,  Jedi under Marcus Moreau and others,the first Galactic Empire.  Then in 2005 sims exploded with Korriban, Sirius, New Holstice, Tatooine, the founding of GAR & DLOTS.   We may have had to do a lot of adapting and changing with the times to still be an active community, but fifteen years is an amazing accomplishment for any roleplay community.   We’ll have our ups and downs but I think we’ve proven ourselves to be as resilient as they come.  :)
