Ahhh, thank you so much for answering! If you don't mind, I wanna take a moment to respond to some of this!

To address all of your ideas. The short answer: very interesting and inspirational!

I definitely do agree, the whole “stalking Five Pebbles” thing is a fun trait for Innocence to have, especially because it would easily explain how she discovered his rot first out of the local group! But the mentor situation isn’t something I’ve heard before when it comes to these two characters (although I think I considered it before for a second)! I also like how you went in depth describing the “timeline” of this relationship and the progression of events, because it’s often how I tend to think when it comes to character relationships too. If I care about it a lot, it can’t be only one-off doodles; there has to be a “story” to it, y’know?

I also just wanna say that I kinda just wanted to hear your take on Unparalleled Innocence in general. I’m always fascinated hearing why other artists and storytellers interpret things the way they do, especially with a topic as broad in general fandom as shipping. But with Rain World it’s especially fun to hear interpretations on some of these other RW characters who have way less canon to base fan-content off of, because it leaves so much potential for vastly different results based on how each artist chooses to fill in the gaps. And Innocence is a character I’ve been looking to develop for a while largely because of you, Pura! You’ve seem to put more effort into expanding on this character’s motivations and relationships than most other RW artists I’ve seen, even iterator-focused ones, and I guess I was inspired by that, and ended up taking a lot of inspiration from you in my own headcanons for Innocence (mainly the FP obsession thing, although I took it in much of the opposite direction)! 

Speaking of inspiration, that brings me to my next point: I asked about whether or not you see Pebbles and Innocence romantically because your art actually inspired me to consider the ship legitimately, and see if I could genuinely make it work as more than just a silly crackship. It’s a pairing I have seen it hinted at exactly once on Tumblr and that was as a failed relationship, so seeing you draw it, even as more of a joke than a serious ship, just kinda helped convince me to try it out! I'm usually not super big on ships without strong canon support, but who knows, it could end up as a cute side-ship to my Lilypad!

Hello! I’ve been thinking after seeing your art, and I’m just a little curious about something.

Do you ship Five Pebbles and Unparalleled Innocence romantically? I’m asking because it’s actually a concept I’ve been considering for a bit, and some of your iterator art just seems to suggest that kind of relationship between them, at least when I see it! Is that intentional, or am I misinterpreting your art? And if it is intentional, are there any other ideas you have for this pairing?

Hi :) Well, first of all, I have to tell you how I see their relationship. I drew some doodles so that it would not be so boring to read the text from the Google translator :)

I have been interested in Innocence for a long time and have always maintained her stalker trait. It seemed funny to me to think that there was an iterator next to the Pebbles who just liked stalking him, so she noticed his problems first, but did not tell the others about it. For one reason or another. I've always seen her as a frivolous girl who just has a hobby of getting into the insides of iterators and admiring them.

Of course, he wasn't thrilled, but, you know… I always took it that FP was just someone who just accepted it, because despite this strangeness, Innocence is an iterator that was also created for entertainment, and therefore it was interesting to communicate with her. She is that childhood friend who is obsessed with the main character, but, unfortunately, she will not be his chosen one... Who knows. Then she becomes a pop star, and he works in the office. Strange friendship.

He was supposed to be her mentor so that she would turn to him for help (and not to the eternally tired Moon).

In general, I developed the idea that Luna was in a rather difficult situation due to work workload, and Pebble had to help her, so he could ignore UI at the most inopportune moment.

I think it upset her a lot, because she really didn't know how to react to some of the antics of the residents.

But because of her personality and the "Smile and Entertain" setting, she had to deal with it. But I think that made the obsession worse.

However, this led to the fact that she was stalkering FP quite a lot and this is how she learned about his rot.

Thanks to her, the rest of the iterators found out about it. Even if she wanted to keep him just for herself, she still wanted to help him. In addition, she was asked to find out about the state of FP.

In my story, Pebble stopped communicating with everyone, but not with Innocence, because she was quite persistent and he eventually gave up, besides it helped him not to be so lonely.

Well, it turned out very well for her, because she likes to watch Pebbles, even if he is in the worst situation.

I usually stick to this story, and it doesn't have to be in a romantic context. But I always saw Pebbles as the kind of character who could date someone just because they were asked, so sometimes I ship them romantically. I think this is funny mostly.

I hope I've satisfied your curiosity. These are my old ideas, and I've never really developed them to make their relationship really work.

Do you have any recommendations for other Hollow Knight artists to follow? Some of the folks I knew of don't really do HK art anymore so I'd love to add some new ones!

hmmm let me see. there are a lot of artists i follow who to my knowledge still make hollow knight stuff (some more frequently than others), and if you want a more broad list, you could try browsing through my reblogs and looking at the timestamps of the original posts to see which ones were posted recently

but if i had to choose some off the top of my head... @duskydrawings is my mortal enemy (affectionate) and an amazing artist, she does some absolutely incredible art, as well as really funny doodles that brighten up my day every time. @hollowbananer and @hrng are my two other good friends who may not post very often, but still make have really cool and adorable stuff you may want to see. @ded-lime and their pk art is in big part responsible for my love for the character, and i could stare at the drawings all day, very inspiring stuff. @slimeel does some incredibly atmospheric art and i adore its style so much, top notch hollow related art if you're looking for that. @notthesaint makes really wonderful studio ghibli inspired drawings and a lot of nosk content, their passion for that weird critter is unmatched. @hornet-mylove draws some of the most aesthetically pleasing hornet (especially baby hornet) art i've seen, i really love their artstyle. some other artists that are worth checking out are @lizbot, @rizrice, @blindspothk, @fruitjellyforbugs and @poppy-purpura, they all have very unique styles that i enjoy a lot!

Quetzalli's Local Group Designs - Shape Language (cont.)

A sequel to this, but now featuring concepts I made for Chasing Wind and Unparalleled Innocence! I was a little cautious about these ones at first, since I wanted to make these characters look believable given the canon iterator appearances, yet they have no canon design so far for me to reference. However, I've also been really excited to share my portrayals of them, especially UI, so I hope you enjoy these first snippets of them!

And just like before, don't be afraid to share any feedback on my current design ideas for them!

Head Shapes

Just like with the other four, I started off doing some head exploration with the general shape inspiration below, along with a couple of notes on line rhythms and whatnot. Though I've been cycling through ideas for some time, when it comes to facial markings I'm going to go with these vertical "tear bands" for Wind and high blush-like markings for UI (very much inspired by @poppy-purpura's depiction).

Body and Clothing Shapes

Just like with the other four, I then made some silhouettes for these two iterators and their outfits, along with another height reference. I made one with the general silhouettes:

And like previously, it was cool getting to more confidently express some of my ideas for their body shape and clothing's general structure!

For Wind, I imagined her robe would be a two-piece outfit, with there being this short jacket or overshirt thing atop a longer dress. Not sure what the colors would be, but this is the assembly I'm going for as of now. Meanwhile, Innocence would wear what's essentially a really long turtleneck thing that covers everything but her head. The wider neck portion wasn't originally my plan, but given the significance of her initial outfit I figured this feature would better contribute to that without being too unappealing.

Once again, I also tried to show some contrast between their clothing and actual bodies. And once again, while I won't explain the symbolism behind it now, It's nice to have a visual expression and reference of my ideas for it now!

neutral? eh idk i guess in general i like crossovers more when they make some sense to me but i dont dislike it when ppl do it or anything. fandom spaces are for fun at the end of the day yknow

im neutral on every crossover ever except for @poppy-purpura (hope u dont mind the ping ehehe)'s 17776 iterators, which i love so so so so so much. i think those silly satellites work really well as iterators and they mean so much to me

10. How do you deal with art block?

i just do smth else i enjoy. video games, chatting with friends, etc. when i feel like drawing again i start with sketches on paper, to kill the perfectionism. seeing my friend's ideas usually helps me start to come up with my own too.

Hi! Hope you dont mind some rando answering this like a week after you posted this :D

Anyhow I have a small collection of old suns designs (only like three unfortunatly) by other users from tumblr that I tought I'd share (you have probably seen these but might as well right?), also fun side note but this actully made me scroll so far down the seven red suns tag here on tumblr that tumblr glitched out and threw me into a /reader post mega hell, I tought that was worth mentioning.

Anyhow so you were correct about most old designs being mostly red with yellow accents, and I think one of my favorite of these (and one that you have probably seen) would be @poppy-purpura old suns design which you can find an example of here, but like go through their rain world art tag, lots of lovely iterators and great art :)

Another suns that I personally will always remember is this comic by @slugcat-galore (the final line "I am Fine. And you do not Scare me." lives in my mind rent-free for weeks everytime I remember it) who had this general design and did some fun stuff with iterators :D

Thirdly I need to mention this art post by @snippit-crickit which I belive is the only suns they drew but its a very good one so I'm linking that too!

Aaaand thats unfortunatly all. Also as someone else mentioned a good way to find older art is to go to old posts, look through the oldest reblogs, pray for someone with a proper tagging system, go to their blog and go from there!

My part of the art-trade with @poppy-purpura and their AU based on folk tales! This art was inspired by Slavic folklore - specifically by Kupala night divinations! On the Kupala Night, girls will float wreaths made of flowers down a river to attempt to learn of their future love. If a man will catch a girl's wreath, it was said that they're destined for each other.

We’ve also briefly discussed COTL in the setting of Darkwood game, because they both have a dark fairy tale feel to them, so I also doodled a little Narinder in a Darkwood crossover :3

But if you want a less appearance-specific one I was considering "trinket" as a more literal reference to their names because the practice of keeping trinkets could be considered cute and childish and therefore "innocent" and maybe pebbles could be kept as trinkets...??

Maybe the thought process worked better in my head, but maybe that's another option at least! I think i'll just call it "Pebblecence" until it gets an official "Rain World fandom style" ship name...

Currently watching: Don’t watch any series curently. But I did watch an excessively long character analysis video about one of the Gravity Falls characters and an education video about life on an oil rig. Does this count?

Currently craving: Social life and mental energy. I like to talk to people but too busy to fulfill it at most times. Just kidding, it’s licorice.

AU projects: It never really went beyond a few short descriptions and music tracks for inspiration, but some time ago I written down the idea of crossover AU between Rainworld and Airframe Ultra. It was about (mostly) adolescent Ancients doing parkour and underground (pun intended) races in caverns of the Depths, trying to reach ascension via sick tricks. Council of Echos, which are basically racers that perished during such races were the ones to judge if tricks were sick enough to fulfill natural urges. But if you’re lucky enough you could be devoured by the Void Worm on the final lap of the trail course.

Besides this one there were also an AU about LTTM that were able to stop 5P’s excessive water consumption only for both of their constructions to collapse onto each other. 5P’s – from sudden drop of pressure caused by Moon closing off shared aqueduct access shafts. And Moon’s – because there were too much damage done already. It was a dramatic roadtrip adventure in the sea that was shedding some light onto negative consequences of “off the string” state such as state similar to “phantom limb” but with superstructure instead and so on. I wrote down main plot points for this one from start to finish.
