Not only that, but he’s staged a mass break out of the formerly inescapable prison IMPEL DOWN (HE WASNT EVEN LOCKED UP IN THERE? SO EVERYONES A LITTLE BIT CONFUSED AS TO HOW THAT HAPPENED???)

He also kind of looks like shit? But he’s fighting like he’s on day three of a methamphetamine high so no one can be sure how injured luffy Really is.

side note: luffy tanked a lung full of Kills You Dead Toxin and then got shot full of Lowers Your Lifespan Drug and on top of all that, DEMANDED the Super Lowers Your Lifespan Drug when he realized he might need anything resembling recovery time.

this wasn't unusual at all. from what she's gathered, it started out enforced by their bio parents because their eyes were creepy, but they kept doing it after. maybe it had nothing to do with their bio parents, maybe they just want to be a moody goth. noelle understands the impulse.

but the way the hair lay on their face is something she thought about often. in a less weird way than it sounds, she swears. it's just... people don't usually let their hair cover their face to that degree, so the physics of it is interesting to her.

most of the time it rests on their cheekbones. it sits there, aided by gravity. they're looking up a lot, since most monsters are taller than them, and the slouch definitely doesn't help.

what intrigues her is when they look down.

then the hair is floating free. the curtain swings of its own volition. she used to see it a lot as a kid, when they'd play that piano, but they. don't do that much anymore. lately the only time she sees them actually looking down is when they walk and when they sleep at school, since ms. alphys doesn't do worksheets.

their hair is thinner when they look down. sometimes she sees their eyes.

shards of crimson peeking through a field of hickory. usually flicking about, reading sheet music or just being attentive as always. theyre so vibrant. she didn't think eyes came that bright, especially not red ones.

they were always kind of creepy, and they embraced this fact. they only really showed their eyes to freak people out, and it almost always worked, on everybody but her. she can't see those eyes as scary anymore, not after she's gotten to know them. only kind, anxious, sassy, mischievous. never actually scary.

it's been nice, hanging out with them again. she didn't realize just how much she missed it. she lost many things that day, but this is one she can get back.

she could go without the mice though.

there's... a button. stepping on it seems to release mice. that's. fine! everything is fine! she will just! stay far, far away!

clearly there's a puzzle to be solved. she'd do it, but she really doesn't trust kris not to release the mice as she moved the boxes.

kris... isn't solving it, though. they're moving to to leave. without her.

"H-hey, Kris? You can't leave yet, y'know! You need to deal with the mice, first. You can do it, Kris! I believe in you!" D-don't leave me behind!

they turn back briefly, then start back toward the exit.

"Kris, you, um... aren't gonna leave me here, are you? Th-think about all the p-pencils I gave you! The... the peppermint cookies I shared with you!"

they don't even give her the courtesy of looking back this time before they stride confidently forward. this is a weird prank; usually they won't keep going if she actually seems upset. their shenanigans are usually just... trying to make people laugh and cringe at the same time. she's doing both now, but the laughing is nervous, and she knows they can tell.

...unless they can't.

it's been, what, six years? seven? they barely talk to each other anymore. maybe they don't see through her mask anymore. ...maybe they do want to make her upset.

"..."

they tilt their head back at her.

"I'll do your homework for you."

if she must.

they try walking again, and, honestly, if that didn't do it, then she doesn't know what would. maybe because they don't have homework right know, with the group project.

"Kris? Are... you really going to leave me...?"

there's a poignant pause.

and then they open their mouth.

that's... not shocking, they've been talking all throughout this—this adventure, noelle supposes, but never if there's a nonverbal alternative. what's weird is that they're talking when they don't have to.

what's even stranger, though, is they say "Proceed."

she wouldn't act like that's not in their normal vocabulary, it seems like something they'd say, but it's whispered yet yelled in this strange tone. it doesn't sound like them. and they wouldn't say something like that here, anyway; they'd say "no, i'm going ahead, you stay here" or "i'll be back in a moment" or "sorry, i'll do the puzzle". not "proceed".

"... h-huh? What did you say? B-but, th... the mice..." surely they must have noticed by now that she's distressed.

"Proceed."

she sees their eyes now, even though they're looking up at her. the locs are thin enough she can see through them.

and...

why do they look scared?

"... I... I..."

they pierce through her, like they're trying to convey more than just their words. she wouldn't know what, though. just... intensity.

"..."

she bites her lip. do they? do they want her to? she doesn't—this is a really weird prank. they're saying proceed like they want her to come with them, but they know, they have to know...

alright. they're testing her, then. maybe she can just... bolt. and hope they don't jump out at her. maybe they're planning to jumpscare her. can't scare her if she closes her eyes and covers her ears!

she sprints over and stops on the button. the mice squeak at her, and she cringes. they got that reaction they wanted. she lets out a sigh. We'd better not have to do something like that again...

they're still looking at her. with those terrifying, terrifying eyes.

she walks up next to them, and they turn forward.

Finding hilariously ironic how most of Sanji's perv jokes end up being extremely trans-coded to some extent only because the joke is longer than it should be.

The "guy with a woman's body" joke has been a thing for ages now, but it usually ends after the "haha I have booobs" joke. Sanji extends it to "I want to stay in this body forever. It feels right. I don't want to give it back". Which could still be read as some perverted stuff, but I don't think any man would agree with that. No matter how much of a pervert he is. Because usually being perceived as a woman is something they refuse to go through although they like being in possession sexually of a woman's body (a type of excitement Sanji actually shows, not by being that much aroused by it but being comfortable with it? Which is... A different approach to the joke).

Sanji has made the typical "going into the girl's changing room/bathroom" joke a couple of times, but in Egghead he goes all the way to be extremely frustrated about not being able to do so? And it is obviously different than wanting to keep Nami's body forever. It can still be seen as frustration for not being able to see girls naked. But. But. The fact that the length of the joke increases? The fact that it's way longer than it should be for an average "haha boobs" joke? You know what I mean.

Not to mention his whole arc during the time-skip and how a simple (both transphobic and misogynistic, by the way) joke, goes all the way to show us that Sanji is indeed comfortable in more feminine clothes and environment, until he's pretty much forced to snap out of his fantasy to go back to the crew. But he wasn't having a bad time at all. And it is intended to be a joke, but it's... Longer than it should be to be considered only a joke and to not pay attention to it.

This isn't meant to be an analysis of any kind because if it were I would've worded it differently and would've mentioned how his childhood is also extremely trans-coded, but we all already know that. I just find it extremely funny how all of these jokes that intend to be directed at straight perv men are actually too long to not be taken into consideration as something deeper than a joke. But, aha, yeah, these are just jokes and definitely not proof of Sanji's perception of gender and his issues with it.

i like that they didn't make po's ex a woman bc that would make me think they were making the "i'm not gay i only like you" type of narrative which makes me so fucking mad every single time it happens

also po likes men and that's ok, i think everyone around him is okay with that fact and that's so important (to me!), it's not a big deal for anyone around him, he doesn't have to hide his attraction to men from anyone

that could still happen with yhame because we don't know about that part of him, and that's not and shouldn't be the focus here, but yeah, it could happen (i mean, he obviously can't announce it publicly but yk we know he will not have to hide this form the members bc he will have that talk with pepper)

but i'm glad po knows that he's attracted to men, and he knows that he feels ✨something✨ when he's around thame (and probably has a tiny little crush on him, but i still think thame start to like po first, obviously)

There's something about like. A certain genre of posts / Online Opinions about insecurity/depression/misery/complaints that are so unhelpful that they wrap right around to being straight up hilarious. and it's the ones that are more or less written to the tone of "Feeling bad? That's gross!" Like, just so you know, don't voice your insecurities/ have low self esteem, because that's offputting! You're gross and weird. Don't be insecure about that, though. That would be stupid if you felt insecure about people disliking you for being insecure. Not attractive. You should be thinking about being as attractive as possible. You shouldn't make comments about suicide, even if you're suicidal! Keep those thoughts entirely to yourself. Make sure nobody around you knows you're thinking about this. It would Make Them Uncomfortable. It's better to keep these thoughts in your head where they can fester. Don't post OR talk to friends with complaints about you feeling miserable or depressed. Tbh people who are sad/upset a lot? Kinda a red flag! You are probably miserable because you're a bad person and you've brought this on yourself. If you don't have friends, it's because you're awful to be around. Easy! Solved the problem for you. And no, there is no nuance to this, got it? So, make sure to feel bad about feeling bad, but don't feel bad about it, because, well, that's just gross. And annoying! You might've wanted your brain rotted thoughts to be Peer Reviewed, you might have just needed to vent- you might've been hoping for some comfort, to get things off your chest. Well, don't!
