✩ ⊱ He, actually doesn't to much to you. Sometimes he'll only sit on a chair in your room and just stare at you- sometimes he smiles at you (or what seems to be a smile) which is either more horrific or sweeter than what Jekyll does.

✩ ⊱ Sometimes Hyde loves to sit next to you, and let you rest against him, he'll also play with your hand or hair, if it's your hand it will be near the shackle so your aching skin could have at least some relief- you're the only person he will ever be gentle with.

✩ ⊱ Whenever he knows Jekyll is not mentally there, he'll let you out of your room and take you outside (in the night of course- there's less people, and much like Jekyll, Hyde hates having people any closer to you than at least a street away) and show you around, sometimes you'll be lucky and he'll take you to his house.

✩ ⊱ Hyde can cook, shocking I know- but he loves to cook for you whenever he can, and hey- it keeps you full and Jekyll never knows.

 A= Affection (How Affectionate are they? How do they show affection?

He is extremely affectionate. I 1000% believe his love language is physical touch, so he is constantly wanting to hold hands, cuddle, or just even be near his partner. Also big fan of PDA he isn't afraid to show his love for his partner in public. It also increases dramatically when he is drunk, he would not let his partner go for a second.

As a best friend he would be super supportive, always in your corner. and he would always back you up against family members (his or yours) , friends anything like that even if he disagreed with you, he would not do it publicly he would wait till he get home and then be like OK yeah let’s talk about that lol

but he would be such an amazing best friend/partner.

C= Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Love love loves cuddles. To John MacTavish any situation could be improved by cuddling. Stressed out? Lets go cuddle, get your mind off things! Happy? Sounds like a great time to cuddle! Sad? aw that's terrible... wanna go cuddle and tell me about it? Also loves to hold his partner in his arms by them laying their head on his chest or by being the big spoon. Would never admit it but he also likes being the small spoon time to time.

D= Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

He would love to settle down, have a big house with wee barins, and of course a loving partner. He does help clean often when he is home, but isn't the best at keeping tidy. As much as I love this man, he would be a pest. He would leave towels on the bathroom floor or leave the cabinet doors open. As for cooking he is pretty decent and makes better breakfast food than dinner.

E= Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?) 

To end something with his partner that he is in love with it would have to be something awful, like cheating, abuse, or something of that nature.

He would do it face to face not over the phone or text. I also don't think he would do it in a public space, probably in the privacy of his own place or theirs.

F= Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

Again he would love to have a spouse. I feel like he would know they are the one after a couple of months but wouldn't actually purpose until a year or so into the relationship.

When he does purpose though he doesnt want a long engagement, he asked because he wants his partner as his spouse and he already treats them as such so why wait?

G= Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?) 

He is usually pretty gentle with his partner, he knows he is strong and could accidently hurt them. Unless they explicitly say they don't mind him being rougher *wink wink*

Emotionally? he can be a hothead and can sometimes fly off the handle but quickly reins it in and would prefer not to fight but to actually talk things out.

H= Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Hugs are extremely common when you are the partner of Soap. he likes to be held by his partner and vice versa hold his partner. He would like to wrap you up in big bear. Hugs and just never let go and most hugs with soap. You would have to be the one to pull away because he never wants to.

I= I love you (How fast do they say the L=word?)

so for this, I’m going to give two scenarios.

If you would like to think that you are just a civi and he meets you when you guys start, you know taking interest in each other and date that way I feel like the I love youse would probably be around the eight-month mark just because with his job, sometimes he is away for his job for longer periods, so I feel like he would have to get to know you before he said that I do believe, though he would fall in love a lot sooner than him confessing to it, so he would probably fall in love around the 3 to 4 months mark, but will keep that information to himself until he’s 1000% certain that the feelings are reciprocated.

OK, in another scenario you work with him so with that I do feel like at first he would flirt a lot with you, and if you did not take him seriously, then you guys would become friends to lovers, mutual pining/yearning situation, and since you do know the world that he’s in with his job. I feel like then he would say I love you a lot sooner.

J= Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

He is very confident in your relationship, but he still does get jealous from time to time especially if you are out and some other man/person is trying to hit on you, or if you’re at the bar and somebody keeps trying to come up to talk to you he would get jealous. It all depends if he’s drunk or not if he’s drunk, he starts getting very handsy and wants to pull you away but if he’s not drunk, then he just stares at the person and tells them to fuck off, either way when he is jealous it always leads to some more spicy times if ya know what i’m sayin’

K= Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they  like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

His kisses are always super passionate/loved filled. You do not have to think for a second that this man does not love you, just by the way he kisses you. I also feel like he does a lot of whole face kisses like he’ll grab you by the face and just kiss all over your face repeatedly until you’re a giggling mess.

 For him, his favorite place to kiss you is on the lips. He will literally kiss you anywhere, but his most favorite place is to kiss you on the mouth.

 His favorite place to be kissed is on the back of his hand. He really likes it when you were holding hands and you just pull your hands up and kiss him on the back of the hand, it just makes his heart melt.

L= Little ones (How are they around children?)

This man loves children that’s not even a question. the cod fandom fight over a lot of thing but one thing that is agreed on is this man wants a lot of children.

he is just always keeping them entertained and is just overall amazing with them.

as i mentioned in part 2 of my hcs for him he is a little psycho that likes to get up at the ass crack of dawn and go running. so if that’s not your thing, he will let you stay in bed.

but that doesn’t mean that when he gets home, if he still find you in bed he won’t try convincing you to wake up and getting in the shower with him by laying on top of you all sweaty.

N= Night (How are nights spent with them?)

most night with him are spent cuddled up in bed probably spreading family gossip and watching movies.

I do feel like this man is a certified yapper, so I feel like he would start revealing things pretty early on especially if he’s interested in you.

if you want to imagine it as you are a civilian, and you two take interestin each other, before anything gets too serious he would definitely talk about his job and explain to you what happens so that you’re sure that you want to continue a relationship with him.

However, if you want to imagine that you are either part of Task Force 141 or something adjacent to that and you already know about his job, then it’s just at that point due to getting to know each other on a more deep and personal basis.

P=Patience (How easily angered are they?)

like I will mention in U, down below he does struggle with frustration and anger, but he doesn’t take it out on his significant other or gets upset with them a lot I do feel like he can get angry a lot at certain situations, but with his significant other, the only time that he would get angry as if it’s like a really, really, really really bad fight.

Q= Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?) 

Soap is extremely intelligent, i mean he had to be he’s a demolition expert, and has a great memory. So if you mention your interest in something he will definitely remember it.

R= Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

Probably when he took you to meet his family for the first time, whether it be just as friends at the time or a few months into the relationship (however you want to imagine it) and you loved his family and they in return loved you back. I really do believe he is extremely family oriented so this just solidified in his mind you were the one.

S= Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?) 

Again, this goes for all of the task force 141 men, but they are all extremely protective. When you were out, they are constantly on the lookout for any potential sketchy scenarios and constantly just keeping an eye out on you to make sure that you are safe.

and if you do not already know self-defense, he would teach you self-defense or pay for a class when he is deployed so that you can learn self-defense.

T= Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

He genuinely would put so much effort into special things for his partner, like date nights, anniversaries, and things like that, but something will always go wrong.

 For example, for an anniversary, he would try to make you breakfast in bed and he would accidentally burn the toast because he was trying to multitask while cooking and left the toast in the toaster for too long. Or booked you a reservation at a really nice hotel but it was on Valentine’s Day and it was extremely crowded so the food was taking forever so you guys just decided to leave and get takeout and go home.

 He definitely puts an effort, but sometimes things just don’t go as planned.

U= Ugly (what would be some bad habits of theirs?) 

like I mentioned in my headcanons part 2 post, most of his negative emotions first manifest as anger and frustration (!!of course not like abuse or anything!!! he just gets very frustrated and can sometimes snap when he doesn’t mean to) but as soon as he calms down, which is usually pretty quick, he’s constantly apologizing.

The normal amount? Like he keeps up with his personal hygiene and he likes to wear normal clothes when he goes out but he doesn’t have a eight step skin care routine or anything like that.

1000% yes, he likes to be around his partner and feel comfort in their presence. So whenever they aren’t around he feels a little lost, obviously not with his job but i’m talking everyday normal life.

X= Xtra (A random headcanon for them.) 

is a little afraid of dogs, I hc that he got the scar in his chin from a dog bite when he was little. It’s not that he doesn’t think they are cute or would be mean or hateful towards one, but he’s just extremely cations while around them.

He wouldn't stand for the obvious like sexism, racism, homophobia, etc.

He is a stage 5 cuddler. He loves to constantly hold his partner while you sleep. He likes to half lay on top of his partner, and when you wake up, you have to literally pry him off you.

He doesn't like to sleep in pajamas, I feel like he would prefer sleeping in his boxers and or naked. He is also a total cover hog.

my steps are basically

voice

personality

og look of minecraft skin/branding

player movement

other ppls fanart (if any)

things that happened/cultural associations

i start with a bunch of random sketches to get the feel of the person.. that's why so many of my early posts were doodle pages. to me, character design is more based on what the person is like rather than what they look like. i think a lot of people do that

I do this with all of the above and shape language, but in bigger art pieces outside of lineups i also use color and perspective (as in youll see more of someone like spepticle in large, sweeping scenes while someone like zam in closed, heavily perspective-based ones) to indicate personality. ill change designs when suited for this too (spoke with or without a gas mask, vi with or without a mouth, etc etc)

my first iteration of lifesteal designs heavily relied on the look of the skins and were gradually tweaked over time. my most prominent example of this is my spoke design, so i'll use him at least once in the examples for continuous comparison.

i watch a couple of each person's videos first, understand their voice, personality, and what they do, then focus on them in other people's videos too to get a full story, their movement, and what others think of them (helps with personality and things we might not see). streams are the most helpful because they're less biased and you see so much more of their antics. huge stream fan.

this process doesnt go in order for some designs and others have a more prominent focus on particular parts of the process that override or effect other parts

Voice

starting off with not spoke here's a problem i encountered when designing wemmbu

I based him a lot off of spoke and ashswag due to not knowing much about him besides the fact that he schemes (spoke&ash-esque) and he doesn't move his character around too much when talking (ash behavior). he didn't match the left one because his voice doesn't have the dramatic, flamboyant fratboy flair that spoke has, so I shifted it to be more friendly yet still dangerous with curved square shapes rather than triangles. i made his scheming, diabolical nature more evident through his clothing that's pretty jester-like and sharp, but with a smoother middle that spoke doesn't have (and to match his eyes).

voice also impacts character height. i dont know how to describe this. mapicc and zam are similar heights because their voices are similar, same goes for parrot and vortex, but leo and vitalasy are close to the same height (due to vitalasy's huge fuckass ears) despite having wildly different voices, with leo's bold text voice and vitalasy's higher-pitched jumbled kinda speech they still take up the same "amount of space" in conversation. they stand out. and even though spoke's voice also stands out an incredible amount he is still only slightly taller than average. this is where personality overrides voice in my designs.

Personality

spoke is sharp in every sense of the word, but is also able to mold himself around to get what he needs.

my first attempt at him was pretty lackluster. i didn't know much of him at the time, only his wither video, and thus understood him mainly through his association with parrot. he seemed a lot more evil and more serious at first glance. like woah! fully fledged mouth and nose?! not anymore.

i cover certain expressive parts to also depict more of their personality in some abstract, holistic way. after watching streams and whatnot, spoke doesnt actually speak (excluding his random sounds and yips or whatever he does) too terribly much, except when the spotlight is on him or he's trying to get something. so, i tweaked his design to encompass that when i understood him better.

i take away his arms to allow his hands to stand out more (character movement thing, he moves around a lot when no one is paying attention to him, punches the air when ..not talking but making a point ig. he's a big fan of hovering menacingly), i give him a slinky-like outside skeletal structure to both capture his affinity for withers (i made him a wither thing because of the wither sounds in his video.. and the withers in general) and to give him the feeling of more freedom with his movement.

i also just really like gas masks so. basically, spoke is someone that hides away until he chooses to stand out. thank lord heaven he looks like some shadow creature.

later on i gave him more magenta highlights, especially in the wormhole era because 1. magenta wasnt heavily included in his rainbow look, making it stand out on his whole being, and 2. because magenta is really really cool and people should use it more.

og minecraft skin/branding

hi spokeis here. this will be quick because his branding is so heavy. lightning, rainbow, black. boom. character. withers and white eyes? easy. causes a lot of anarchy? again, lightning and withers.

planetlord on the other hand is someone i greatly differed from the og skin and branding. i saw the design in a vision idk. i shift his colors all the time in different pieces but i use more of his pfp colors now because there's too many purples in this world. his branding, personality, and voice all connect very well. a bit misleading, he's a bit of a weasel.

Movement

i never used to look into movement, but pvp styles and conversational movement of lifesteal is intriguing. unfortunately it was only something i started paying attention to during the end of s4 because vitalasy's movement was so interesting. he's a big fan of getting in people's faces.

ill be real, i didn't really notice spoke a lot during things because he was almost always never alone, and when he was it is always at a distance or you knew he had people to back him up.

spoke's movement isn't actually too abnormal. he's goal oriented and tends to always be doing something, and when he does he finds the most efficient way possible. pretty basic. his design choices are based mainly on voice and personality.

someone like mapicc on the other hand has very particular movement. he spins around people when fighting and gets right up in their face (in nethpot pvp mostly), so i made his clothing tighter to the skin with looser parts to accentuate that movement: practical clothing for close combat battles. it was also noticed (by the lord) that he tends to look straight forward instead of the slightly down that most players do.

zam fights differently, but i made him with the og branding (he's princezam) and what he does in mind. his body language in my art is more indicative of his personality.

Things that happened/istarted talking about cultural inspirations

spoke and his connection to godhood influenced his redesign greatly. this section affects what the character wears most of the time.

i give both spoke and vitalasy painted palms (alta) due to their connection with godhood and destruction, with spoke in particular reminding me a lot of Kali Ma, thus i gave him a skirt (due to nppp too). vitalasy's clothing is based on Indonesian cultural clothing. wemmbu's also takes inspiration from Indonesian and Bhutan cultural clothing.

indigenous cultures inspired some designs too (i do a lot of ethnographic anthropology work with some of the tribes i base the clothing off of), with woogie having Yupik and Inuit inspiration. polar bear = cold climate in my head. and leo has Haida and Yunnan (minority Chinese providence, not a tribe) inspiration.

bacon's... not bacon strip design's clothing was based on Bangladeshi clothing (im Bangladeshi, i also added alpona patterns to ash's design), nomadic cultures, and some german pilgrim thing?? idk not my best design. i specifically looked for nomadic inspiration because of his willingness to flee at any moment lol. i didnt do this for rek despite his fleeing reputation because i dont watch rek content too much and he already had hybrid traits that took care of that presentation.

poafa's design is a goat because of the medusa trials where he was used as a scapegoat. makes sense i think. his horns are from past associations with jepex that infected mapicc as well (devil trio s1). zam's design is very much from s3 empire and s4 castle.

planet's design changed slightly, mostly rounder shapes, but also the number of "spikes" on his scarf, now stuck at three because of 3ht.. and easier to draw than five. minutetech has a bow instead of a bowtie from jumper due to s5 happenings. the gem on his crown has wemmbu's highlights from his gem's main color.

roshambo's design was also heavily influenced by medusa where i gave him a snake body. in my art that depicts before medusa events he doesn't have the snake body, and same goes with before s4 spoke where i draw him with full pants. in some sketches ive depicted mapicc with a muzzle only after the destruction of s4 spawn due to quix's mapicc dog influence shoutout.

mapicc and ro have matching things that persist seasons (mapicc periwinkle collar, ro red painted ring finger... head finger?), as did subz and vitalasy with matching shoulder pads (beginning of s4 subz had a bandana and vitalasy had a bell that traded between them through artworks of mine) Vitalasy also gained sun and moon earrings. mid and 4c have matching hoods/cloaks ^_^ marriage or something.

In stars and time is the recent food source of my brain eating amoeba and it Will Not Leave. before i get into why im rabid about it though ill give a brief synopsis . putting a read more here because i suspect this post will get LONG.

its a game about a classic rpg party on the last two days of their quest to save the country from The King who is freezing everything, including people, in time. the main character, Siffrin, is the party's rogue who, upon going into the House of Change (the game's dungeon so to speak) and promptly dying, finds out that they're trapped in a time loop. they're the only one who remembers repeating the last two days- aside from a star named loop who helps him try and figure out whats going on, why, and how to break out.

Now personally ive never been invested in a time loop story?? Im not sure if thats because i havent consumed much media thats implemented it before as its main premise or if i just havent been interested but i think in stars and time meshes the two different genres a time loop story can fall into really well (the mystery and the emotional conflict).

The mystery is what drives you through the game (and there are other questions unrelated to the timeloop about siffrin's origin and the world itself that i think handle a variety of themes like loss of culture and personal transformation really well but thats a different tangent) but the emotional parts are what really got me. You have to watch almost in the backseat as Siffrin is like. Slowly depersonalized from the people they care about. All while refusing to tell them anything about their misery because they don't want to burden them or drag them into his suffering. Even happy moments that Siffrin doesnt mind repeating become tainted because it becomes a matter of acting so that the "scene" doesnt stray from its path and his party doesnt become suspicious.

and yet they still DO, both in regards to Siffrin's World Alteringly Terrible Case of the Mondays and the actual time loop. they notice how tired and fake he seems. one of my absolute favorite scenes is one where you interact with a closet and it provokes a conversation about where Siffrin got their cloak from and how long they've had it, because its really one of a kind. it has temperature regulatory magic imbued in the stitches and is made to grow with him. And siffrin just cant fucking remember. not only because hes been looping so long that its created a haze over his mind but because he has no true "identity." and as he's scrambling to fill in an answer for this hole in his head, a gust of wind hits his face because one of their friends, isabeau, flapped his cloak while inspecting it to ground him. and he disguises it by commenting on the thickness of the cloak.

Getting this scene by accident on my playthrough made me feel so many feelings dude like . Siffrin isn't the only one trying to hide things. Their friends care about him so much and they try to disguise how concerned thwy are and its just. Im . Im Normal.

its not just about that though . Like if you start finding shit a little too fast they'll start catching on to whats happening. a little sound effect will play whenever you know something you shouldn't know and the others notice and whenever it happened i was like. Twisting in my seat waiting for them to call me out.

it all builds up into this really fucking painful emotional climax that i will not talk about because i don't want to spoil more than i already have but omg. I was writhing. It was. Hhhggnngh.hfg. Glass shards in ym mouth yummy

I have held off from talking about loop's role in the story because i cant describe to you why they make me so ill. Not because i dont know Why but because it is something you should experience yourself. They're really charming and funny and their dialogue is fantastic. Of course that's part of the reason i lauve them but theres also the underlying secondary mystery of why they're here/who and or what they are/etc. And when u know. Its. I Cant Tell You. BUT ITS REALLY GOOD. ITS REALLY REALLY GOOD. Just know that if you get to the end and are still confused about them. That theres more than the main ending . AND IT IS PROBABLY WHY I AM SO INSANE ABOUT THIS GAME HONESTLY. I LOVE YOU FOREVER LOOP . im ok

Sundresses and Sorrow

A/N: i like to make myself miserable so enjoy. This is probably the only fic you'll find where i accept MW3's Canon event. but it doesnt mean I like it. I just needed a good cry okay.

Word Count: 930

Your feet nearly miss a step as you rush towards the front door of your house. You slide to stop just inches from the door. Your hand wraps around the smooth metal of the door handle. The moment you have been waiting for the moment when Johnny will rush up the front stairs of the porch and catch you in his arms as your legs wrap around his waist. His hands would rest under your thighs as he would murmur into your hair that he missed you. He’d smell of sweat, gunpowder and chemicals from explosives. His mohawk- slightly longer than normal, his chiseled jaw lined with stubble from deployment. 

He’d walk you into the house and you would spend hours wrapped in each other's arms. Just soaking in the moments together. Cherishing the time you had together now that he was home. 

That's what you looked forward to each time you heard the closing of his truck door.

That’s what made the deployments worth it.

The pure uncontainable bliss of seeing him again.

You yank open the door to your house, pushing open the screen door, the sun glaring from across the street.

Your heart drops.

Breath rushing from your lungs.

The world tilting on its axis.

The shadow in front of you isn't Johnny. 

They’re far too tall, too bulky, the shoulder broader, chest wider. 

You glance up, eyes full of tears as they land on Simon's face. He ditched the mask, his face bare of fabric for once. His own brown eyes red and swollen, his cheeks raw and tear stained. You know what's coming before he even opens his mouth.

“I’m sorry love…” Simon's voice is tight, emotions barely contained as he watches you crumble before him. There's a terrible sound, like an animal in distress. The world tips forward as your knees give out, Simon's arms grabbing you as your knees smack into the hardwood of the porch. You barely feel it, hardly register the splinters embedded in your knees. The fabric of your sundress is spotting with blood from the wounds. 

Simon carries you into your house, his boot kicking your front door shut as he brings you to the couch. He sinks into the couch, you in his lap as he holds onto you, your back against his chest. Your fingers digging into the scar ladened skin of his arms. Tiny crescents of blood prickle under your nails, but Simon doesn't say anything. Your entire body shakes as you struggle to breathe through your tears. Tidal waves of emotions crash through you, drowning you in sorrow. 

Your breathing is harsh and uneven and Simon is afraid you might pass out. His arms tighten around your middle as your heartbroken screams fill his head. He doesn't complain though, his face pressed to the back of your head, your hair slightly wet as his own tears slip through. 

Simon doesn't let you go, even after your voice is gone from screaming. After your tears have dried out, your body limp against his chest. His knees are killing him, his arms stiff and numb. There are tiny specks of dried blood on his tattooed arm from where your nails bit through his skin. The black ink is now spotted with dark red.

Just like the fabric of your pretty yellow sundress, the one you put on in hopes Johnny would like it. His eyes trail over the living room of your house. This was the house that Johnny talked fondly of. The one he wouldn't shut up about. But Simon always knew it wasn't the house that Johnny was so fond of. It was all the memories you had created together, he had told Simon once that he would sleep in a cardboard box for the rest of his life if it meant that you were still with him.

But now, these walls will do nothing but remind you of what you lost. The man who would no longer be coming home to you. Every object and sound would be a painful reminder that you lost someone you love.

“Did he suffer?” Your voice is hoarse and raw.

“No, it was quick.” Simon replies, at least you could find comfort in the fact that he didn't suffer. He didn't bleed out somewhere, slowly losing consciousness, begging not to go. You both sit in silence for hours. A silence so loud it's deafening, but neither of you know what to say to break it.

Simon doesn't move, even after you fall asleep in his embrace. Your hair falling into your face as your head bobs forward. He gently tips your head back against his shoulder, brushing a few strands off your face as he looks down at you. Simon squeezes his eyes shut, trying to squash down the flood of emotions still tormenting him. If he had been there, maybe he could have stopped Markov. He wouldn't be the one sitting here, trying to desperately hold the broken pieces of you together for his dead friend. The man he trusted his life to. It should've been him. He didn't have anyone waiting for him at home. He didn't have a girl who waited by the door hoping to hear the sound of a car door closing. He didn't have a home that held more happy memories than he could imagine. He didn't have that. But Johnny did. 

His brown eyes cast upwards at the ceiling, a stray tear falling down his scarred cheek.

“I’ll watch over her for you, Johnny. I promise.” He whispers into the darkness.

Ruby took a few deep breaths as she tried to focus on her comic book, a blush crossing her cheeks as she started to lose a bit of focus. She glanced over towards Weiss and Blake, still not sure what about them kept drawing her to look at them. Her heart fluttered for a brief moment as she looked away, no longer able to focus like before. 

“Everything okay, Ruby?” Weiss asked as she looked over. “You’ve been a lot quieter than normal.” 

“I-I’m fine,” Ruby said, her voice cracking as she spoke. “I think I’m getting a bit sick.” 

“Then maybe I can help-” 

“I’m fine!” Ruby quickly got up and made her way to the door. “I’ll be back once I’ve gotten checked.” 

“Oh, well, dont be out for too long.” 

Ruby nodded and started to make her way down the hall, heart still fluttering as she thought about Weiss and Blake with each step. They way they moved anytime they fought in training, the way their eyes almost seemed to glisten in the light mimicking precious stones and colored glass, and then there was the way they felt when her hands brushed up against their soft hands… 

She shook her head to try to get the thoughts out of her head. She needed to focus on class, not on her teammates. And yet, no matter how much she tried, she couldnt get Weiss and Blake out of her head. It was enough to make her fall behind on her studies and struggle with her own training, though she was sure that if she had brought it up to Yang, she’d be told she should have boys on her mind instead. 

Instead of making her way to the nurse, Ruby made her way to the training hall to clear her head in the only way she knew how. Training until she could forget about Weiss and Blake no matter how long it took. 

“Ruby, where are you going?” Coco asked as she saw Ruby in the halls. “Shouldnt you be studying?” 

“I couldnt focus,” Ruby answered as she continued to walk. “So I’m going to clear my head.” 

Coco nodded and started to follow Ruby. “Then maybe I can come with you and you can tell me what’s going on.” 

“Its nothing-” 

“Doesnt sound like nothing to me. I’ve watched you since your initiation, so I can tell when something’s up with you.” 

“Its Weiss and Blake.” Ruby paused in her step for a moment as a blush ran over her cheeks. Once again, her teammates filled her mind when she’d prefer they didnt. “I… I cant stop thinking about them. I know we’re all teammates and we need to think about each other, but this feels excessive. I cant focus on school work or training, my grades are starting to suffer and when Weiss brings it up, I cant help but feel terrible for letting her down.” 

Coco smiled a bit. “Sounds like you love them.” 

Ruby froze at the thought. Loving Weiss and Blake? No, that couldnt be it. Love wasnt an emotion she felt, at least not for people the way others did. She loved weapons, Crescent Rose in particular, the taste of strawberries and cookies, fighting grimm to be a hero like her mother. But to love someone, to love an actual person…

“I-I dont think its anything like that,” Ruby said quietly as she forced the words out as her voice cracked and her heart raced in her chest. The mere thought of Blake and Weiss made her legs feel like jelly and gave her a warmth in her chest that nothing else seemed to. “We’re just good friends, nothing more. Teammates, partners… that sort of thing.” 

“Then if that’s the case, you should be able to focus long enough to have a competition with me, right?” Coco asked with a smirk. “If you can destroy more targets than I can, I’ll believe you. If not, then you and I are going to have a long talk.” 

“Fine. But I dont see why you’re so interested.” 

“Because you remind me of how I am with Velvet. And I dont want to see you make the same mistakes that I’ve been making.”

imagine if they had taken a different route with 'evil jay.' imagine jay participating in training with ras and being beat so badly that ras kicks a wolf mask to him, and with a bloodied, beat hand he inches towards it, even though it's repulsive to him, disgusting even - but he has to if he wants to live. The mask shatters his soul and the power heals him. He needs to live, but he doesn't want to shatter his soul - but it's the only option presented to him, and he has to take it. eventually he forgets he never wanted to.

i imagine walker would avoid anything that directly tied him to the wolves. after everything that admin put him through he couldn't take another faction taking any more pieces of what little identity he had left - even if it did make him stronger. i imagine he stayed with ras not just because of his lies - the story of how great of a warrior hes been sounded just a tad too good to be true, more like an example from a manipulation textbook rather than anyones actual life, not in this century. but he did stay, because he wanted to destroy the administration - whether from revenge or to free everyone in there, he didnt know.

i imagine when ras found him he quite literally saved his life - after gods know how long walker had to survive on his own in the realm of madness and wylderness he found his way to where ras was. ras brought him in, patched his wounds, gave him food and shelter.

even weeks after being saved by ras walker was still in fight or flight response. he was scared. still somewhat of his power, but the pain was unbearable. remember post merge hes probably never actually been in a fight except when he struggled for survival after admin.

but his power remembered how to ease the pain. make it more bearable. take more of it. until walker cannot stand up back again, and everyone smells death coming.

for a moment no one moves. not jordana, not cinder who was meant to be next, even nokt who was his opponent steps back. no one expected walker to take that much damage. no one expected him to not get up. all these weeks, no matter the punches and the slashes, walker always got back up in the end. all the terrible scars, the eye patch too, proved this wasnt a new development. it was ingrained into walker as much as his lightning.

it takes ten ragged, difficult, wheezy breaths for anyone to move.

ras stands up slowly. no one speaks as the boss kicks the wolf mask towards walker.

at first, the only response is a twitch of fingers and brow.

until a strike of lightning runs across walkers arm and, struggling, he grabs the mask. he doesnt properly put it on just kind of throws his arm, trusting proportions of it to land it vaguely on his face.

whatever anyone says, ras did not run to strike the gong, almost forgetting his own hammer. to say so would be to assume he cared about the master of lightning. which would be ridiculous. he was just a simple tool for others to use. of course there was no fondness, and absolutely, not at all, walker never managed to make any of them smile. that never happened, of course.

and as no one cared for walkers wellbeing, there wasn't a collective sigh of relief and a chuckle of joy as the wounds on walkers body started closing, red energy of shattering weaving his organs back together. of course no one was relieved. not at all.

nokt smirked as ras helped walker to sit up, laying the wolf mask on his lap.

"not bad, brat."

walker gasped in a shaky breath, elemental energy trying to cope with the shattering.

he looked up at nokt.

"so, warm up's over, i take it?"

and at that there was chuckling, with nokt bursting with laughter.

long rambly post abt how i think bede and hop's relationship is because holy shit im the only person correct ever:

(asterisk this is only kind of sort of a ship analysis because i dont ship them in a normal way i ship them in a cool secret 3rd thing way)

during the plot, they dont Like each other. at all. like not even a little bit. even before bede was actively being a dick, hop got bad vibes from him anyway (half because of how he spoke to victor/gloria, half because hop's ego was the size of the sun in earlygame). and on bede's end, hop is a roadblock. just another competitor that he has to face off against. so why would he care? he's got one goal (to please chairman rose) and thats all he plans to do.

when the bede/hop battle plotpoint comes into play, its less of a pokemon battle and more of a fight. somewhere in one of the wild areas, kind of discreet so neither get into serious trouble over it. i always refer to this part of the game "the time when bede tells hop to kill himself" because thats what i feel is implied. bede calls him worthless, he calls him a terrible trainer, a stain on leon's reputation. things that dig deep, that fuck hop up astronomically. but i think its just because bede can see a lot of what he is in hop. they both had a goal. they both had someone who they needed to prove themselves to (leon or chairman rose). they gave it everything and more, sacrificed time and money and years to accomplish the one thing they couldnt ever do. i dont think hop can see the parallels they have yet. hes too in his head at this point

when bede is removed from the gym challenge, hop is a little conflicted. had he not gotten his team wiped prior, he would've been stoked about it. but he's more focused on himself now. he has bigger problems to worry about. bede is basically forgotten by him.

postgame (the playable content postgame) is a little different. i imagine it takes place a few months after the main plot does. bede has matured slightly, but he's still defensive as all hell. hop is more confused than he is upset. especially after seeing bede's success as the next fairy-type gym leader. because why him? why, after all bede has ruined and broken and messed with, did he get the chance and hop didnt? i doubt that hop ever wanted to be a gym leader (especially not fairy-type, he doesnt give that vibe). but if not a champion, he wanted to contribute somehow. its not fair to him that bede gets to and he doesnt (despite hop's lack of trying)

he's angry about it. angry enough that he breaks the radio silence between him and bede and confronts him about it. they dont battle this time (hop knew he wouldnt win anyway). it leads to an argument, though. one that leads bede to ask him why he's given up. why after all that effort, he's decided to just quit everything altogether.

following this is their second not interacting period. i imagine this is over the course of a few years. hop finally talks himself into becoming a pokemon professor. he prefers learning over copying anyway. he actually takes bede's advice, and goddamnit it actually worked.

so when research brings him and sonia to ballonlea, he finds bede again. he does his best to thank him for the wake up call. bede apologizes (though it doesnt Feel like an apology. hes so terrible at sounding genuine, even if he is) for basically psyching hop out of the championship altogether. and he tells him that had he not intervened, had that first "kys" battle never happened, that hop could've fought his own brother. maybe not a win. but he would still make it far.

hop cries over that. and with time, they're able to talk like normal people again. reminisce on the gym challenge, talk about what happened and why it happened. hop asks bede about the pokemon native to the glimwood tangle, bede asks hop about dynamaxing (and also tells the little knowledge he'd gotten from the chairman back in the day).

so do they date? no. not in a regular kind of way. my mind says it as a very casual, not set in stone or talked about qpr. they're around each other a lot, they end up caring about each other a lot. theres still that underlying pain from hop, he's learning to get over it. and there are some nights bede gets sentimental enough to apologize again.

nothing super romantical happens. they kiss like once, they hold hands occasionally. i dont think either of them are very physically affectionate. both are also asexual because i said so.

slightly more than friends. a bit less than lovers. just 2 people learning to work with the cards they were delt. 2 people who failed and support each other as they pick up the pieces.

Virgil: Virgil waking up is the catalyst for them getting free, and in the midst of his horror falls in QP love at first sight with remy, who was so brave and so strong and kept roman safe when virgil couldnt.

Patton keeps determinedly dragging emile to mays house (where they are holed up for close access to dizzy and jax) even though Emile feels like he's intruding

so pattons HOPE is that they all wind up in a big polycule pile, and its doesnt... not do that, but its not quite as clearcut as all that.

Theres stumbling blocks at the beginning withboth remy and roman wavering on whether or not their romantic feelings are genuine, and subsequently wondering if the fact that theeyre still in love with Emile and LAM respectively means that they arent.

this would go through some oscillations of both of them trying to deny those feelings to "prove" their love for each other, vs trying to push the other away so they can go be with p[eople they "really love"

in my head this ends with romantic LAMP, Romantic Remile, Romantic Patmile, and QPR losleep and sleepxiety - everybody else is friends and cuddle buddies

Remy is actually super comforted by the fact that Patton is in love with him/attracted to him but never asks for more than friendship because he knows remy isnt. Metamour besties.

Dizzy suffers a lot from this ordeal (she hid from durant and subsequently roman, knowing if he found her as romans familiar it would be catastrophic) so their bond is.... stretched, lets say. overtaxed. she's a little sicklier. a little smaller, a little more timid. hides in remy or virgils jackets frequently

All of which is to say that this is a fraught extended metaphor that sometimes trauma changes you, and it changes your relationships, and it changes the way you feel attraction, and all of that is okay. it doesnt make those feelings or relationships less real or loving or valid.

In the church, Karl Heinz explains that this was all a test, and when Ruki asks “ok can you please stop the test now” Karl Heinz is like lmao no. show me that you can surpass me first. It might be impossible for Ruki because he’s a former human, but Karl Heinz says he approves of Ruki in a certain way, and he just needs Ruki to show that he’s capable of seeing his plan through…….or else, Karl Heinz will take Eve back.

Ruki tells Karl Heinz he owes him a debt of gratitude but he won’t be doing that. He can’t give up Yui OR turn his blade against Karl Heinz. Karl Heinz is like “awww, that’s cute, but check this out” and there’s this terrible magic sound and blood splatters across the screen and Ruki’s like “GUAAAGAGHHH” and I’m thinking “oh no did I actually get the bad end???” and Karl Heinz is like “pick up your sword, pussy” (he doesnt say that last part)

Ruki stands up, all covered in blood, and says that he probably isn’t the right person for Yui. He messed up Karl Heinz’s plans too. But he still doesn’t wanna let her go ;-; um, but he still doesn’t want to fight Karl Heinz, so Karl Heinz is like “die like a dog then” and blasts him. He tells Yui he’ll let Ruki live if she comes with him. He wrecks Ruki’s shit a third time and I imagine he is a blood stain on the floor at this point.

Yui’s about to say she’ll go with Karl Heinz, but Ruki stands up (?! what a trooper) and hugs her. He wants to stay with her to the very end ;-; He thanks her for choosing him, and Yui says there’s nothing to thank her for, she just fell in love with him, simple as that. They kiss and it tastes like Ruki’s blood.

………but again, if you’ve seen some other endings, you know where this is going, right? Kissing in the church is actually the key to leaving this place, so the whole world disappears into whiteness. They wake up in that room in Eden and all of Ruki’s injuries are gone. Karl Heinz is like lol congratulations!! Since Ruki and Yui chose each other in the face of death, they’ve proven their love is real. He’s like “Well, I really thought it would be one of my sons, but the future is full of surprises. peace!” and he disappears..,, giving me no time to strangle him

Anyway we go back to our regular lives. Kino is still a mystery. I imagine Shin acts awkward every time he sees Ruki from now on. We see a nice, familiar scene of the Mukamis being rowdy at dinnertime. Yuma suggests rukiyui should just get married already. Ruki absolutely intends to do that, so kou’s like “whoaaaaa okay this is getting steamy, let’s leave” lmao. When they’re alone, Ruki tells Yui he no longer has any doubts or hesitations about loving her. Before this, he thought he could just keep running away, but now he feels like he can stand his ground and face people like Karl Heinz, and defend the fact that he loves her.

labyrinth end:

Ruki kept Yui to himself even though he didn’t have the qualities to become Adam, and that’s basically betraying Karl Heinz. He’d rather run away with her than face this fact. Karl Heinz lets him run and he’s like “fine, run forever. you can stay here till you make a new choice.”

While they’re running, Yui wakes up in the church again. She’s right back where she started, and Reiji, Kou, Laito, and Ayato are there too. oh my god did I just get timelooped???? tell me I got timelooped

Yui basically plays the general prologue again and chooses the Orange house in hopes of meeting Ruki. He’s there, but he doesn’t remember her anymore!! we totally got timelooped!!! fuck!!!!

Back in Eden, Karl Heinz is talking to himself and he says he’ll rewind this story as many times as it takes for Ruki to figure his shit out. But we gotta do this quick, because the soul can only handle so many repetitions before it breaks down.

Ruki (memoryless) stabs Yuma in the heart and kills him, then the shock gives him his memory back and he freaks out. Yui wakes up in the church AGAIN. The church bells ring AGAIN. She STARTS OVER.

And so it repeats over and over. Sometimes they make progress, sometimes Ruki kills his brothers, sometimes Yui dies. Ruki starts having dreams about past iterations; nightmares where he stabs Yuma’s heart and cuts Kou and Azusa to pieces. His hands feel like they’ve really done it. She tells him it’s all a bad dream and hugs him, but he says “This time you’ll be killed. I don’t know how, but I can see it.” Then he’ll take his sword and kill himself too.

Yui screams no, it’s just a bad dream!! And she hopes she wakes up soon ;-;;;;;

More specific highlights though-

In Lyney tl I had hearing and balance issues due to a shitty foster parent removing my feline features. (would a tail removal count as being an amputee? Im pretty sure- but it was a very important limb for my balance regardless). Thanks to Dottore's medical knowledge the brunt of the problems were fixed, I wasnt completely deaf at least! But I was left with audio processing problems. And while I did adjust to balance without my tail (and my eardrums in a completely different spot, cant forget how much those contribute to balance), I'd still have a few slip ups every so often. By the time of the game I'd say they were completely invisible issues. Oh and Lynette and I both had mild forms of chronic fatigue, hers was worse than mine though.

In one Dottore timeline (I think, they all kinda blend together idk how many I have anymore) I was a self imposed amputee- It's how I made my "clones", since I really just hacked myself apart and made robot structures around each body part. Honestly fair if anyone doesnt want to count it, but I personally do. (On that note I seem to have a kinmonality for amputation.. theres far more than Dottore and Lyney...) Another Dottore disability (possibly) is the hivemind itself, as every member of it could all speak to eachother within our minds I can only assume it would feel similar to being a system. I'm a singlet in this life so I can't really be sure to be fair, I just know my own brain can't replicate the way I could think in that period of the timeline, and it sounds quite a bit like what many of my system friends have described.

One version of the game sent in asked to include fictional disabilities- I think being cursed would count for Shinobu. Messing around in Madame Pings attic with Yanfei was a terrible idea! Adapting to growing snake features (fangs, pupils, I think a few scales too) was AWFUL but I managed, and had Baizhu to help me adjust since he had the same thing due to Changsheng assumably. (Bonus, albeit not my kin: in this timeline Yoimiya was an amputee, what is her leg guard in game was actually a prothetic leg in the tl)

In my Baizhu tl, I did have a permanent chronic illness, I dont know what it was, but I could never find a cure for it. I didn't have Changsheng in that timeline so I really don't know what it was!

Hmm. I had Severe memory issues as Kinger, as Wanderer I would tend to fall apart if my joints were under too much stress- Many other timelines had ptsd. I'm so sure I had chronic pain in a few but I can't for the life of me remember which kins they are right now.
