SEMIH ÇELIK
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHAT DID HE DO?
On October 4, 2024, Istanbul was shaken by a horrific incident where 19-year-old Semih Çelik brutally murdered two women within half an hour before taking his own life. The victims of violence against women, Ayşenur Halil and İkbal Uzuner, both 19 years old, were killed in the Eyüpsultan and Fatih districts, respectively.
Semih Çelik first went to his girlfriend Ayşenur Halil’s home in Eyüpsultan around 3:30 p.m., where he killed her by slitting her throat. Shortly after, he met with İkbal Uzuner near the historic Edirnekapı city walls in Fatih. There, he decapitated Uzuner, dismembered her body, and threw her severed head in front of her mother. Earlier that day, Uzuner’s mother had received a phone call from an unknown man who had answered İkbal’s phone. The man reassured her, saying, “Your daughter is in safe hands.”
Çelik had attempted suicide before and was reported missing twice.
The 19-year-old’s mother received another call, which directed her to come to the Edirnekapı area, claiming her daughter’s phone had fallen from the city walls. When she arrived, hoping to retrieve the phone, she was met with the horrifying sight of her daughter’s severed head being thrown from the walls and some body parts, shattering her worst fears. Çelik, who tied a rope around his neck, committed suicide by jumping from the walls.
Authorities revealed that Çelik had a history of psychological problems and had been hospitalized five times over the past year due to mental health issues. His father confirmed his son’s struggles, stating in his police statement: “When I entered his room, I saw drawings that resembled satanic figures. When I asked him about them, he said, ‘You wouldn’t understand. Our (generations’) ways of thinking are different.’” Police searching Çelik’s residence found a notebook containing disturbing charcoal drawings of dismembered human figures, eerily resembling how he committed the murders. The police also found a video of Çelik threatening to kill one of the women. Searching through his mobile phone, police also found he was part of an ‘incel’ chat group online.

Çelik had three prior criminal records and worked as a butcher. He had also attempted suicide before and was reported missing twice. His father, mentioned that Semih had previously received treatment at Bakirkoy Mazhar Osman Mental Health Hospital, Eyup Mental Health Center and Cerrahpasa Mental Health Hospital. As of early October 2024, a total of 300 women have become victims of male violence in Turkey.

i feel like i'm so annoying being like JOE WILKINSON ROISIN CONATY but please understand i say it because it would be guaranteed hilarious 🥹
but okay okay let's think
first i think it would be funny to have some of the well-known bonafide smartypantses on, like jo brand, david and victoria, charlie brooker, clive anderson, richard osman, dara, and john oliver, because it's just funny as heck to see them get tripped up or stumped hehe and you may be thinking "what about stephen fry and sandi toksvig?" THERE IS NO STUMPING THEM. EVER. AND DON'T YOU FORGET IT.
there are lots of other lowkey smartypantses who would be so funny — paul foot, armando iannucci, adam buxton, elis james, lee mack, rhod gilbert, bill bailey, miles jupp, wild card suggestion is darragh from the chase he cracks me up. now, random people smartypants and otherwise i think would kill the format hmmm okay besides joe and roisin who mean everything to me, guz khan, lucy beaumont, prof. hannah fry, ed gamble, chloe petts, mel giedroyc, vic reeves, claudia, matt forde? could be quite funny actually and i think guy would laugh at him a lot?, ahir shah, jess hynes, nish kumar, judi love, johnny vegas, jamie laing, jessica knappett, sara barron, kerry godliman, fatiha el-ghorri, ivo graham, get william hanson on there why not
🚨 danny dyer, susie dent, catherine tate, alan carr 🚨 HANDS DOWN!!!
don't you think this format would be perfect for chris addison to come back into our panel show lives
and omg mark watson because remember when guy was having a lil go at him 😭😭😭💀💀💀
CUZ THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT guy is the host and he needs to think the guests are funny... hmm who would have a hilarious dynamic with guy...well...everyone😁 guy is the best😁
it makes sense, too, that some of the funniest dynamics on a format like cats does countdown would work on guy mont spelling bee, since it's all about being a lil smarty — so russell howard and roisin on the same panel would be great because she does her best and he takes the piss out of her. people who take the piss out of each other...hmm...fatiha el-ghorri and phil wang lmfao...alan carr and romesh one of my underrated faves...frankie boyle and miles jupp would be so good omg
I SHOULD STOP NOW hehehe sorry for the block of text i answered this stream of consciousness i hope you don't mind heheheheh
what about you??

Dear Wendy by Ann Zhao
Tumblr media
Dear Wendy's Sophie and Jo, two aromantic and asexual students at Wellesley College, engage in an online feud while unknowingly becoming friends in real life, in this dual POV Young Adult contemporary debut from Ann Zhao
Sophie Chi is in her first year at Wellesley College (despite her parents' pleas that she attend a "real" university, rather than a liberal arts school) and has long accepted her aromantic and asexual (aroace) identities. She knows she'll never fall in love herself, but she enjoys running an Instagram account that offers relationship advice to students at Wellesley. No one except her roommate can know that she's behind the incredibly popular "Dear Wendy" account.
When Joanna "Jo" Ephron (also a first-year aroace student at Wellesley) created their "Sincerely Wanda" account, it wasn't at all meant to take off or be taken seriously-not like Wendy's. But now they might have a rivalry of sorts with Wendy's account? Oops. As if Jo's not busy enough having existential crises over gender, if she'll ever truly be loved, and whether her few friends will find The One and forget her!
While tensions are rising online, Sophie and Jo grow closer in real life, especially once they realize their shared aroace identity and start a campus organization for other a-spec students. Will their friendship survive if they learn just who's behind the Wendy and Wanda accounts?
Exploring a-spec identities, college life, and more, this platonic comedy, perfect for fans of Alice Osman's Loveless, is ultimately a love story about two people who are not-and will not-be in love!

These Are The Suede Songs 002: Be My God/Art
The first dedicated post of this project, and the de facto first Suede single. Only 500 copies were produced, and the majority of these were destroyed, as the band weren’t at all happy with the result.
In fact, According to Dave Thompson, Justine Frischmann recalls keeping one copy for nostalgia’s sake. One side had “Fuck Fuck” written on it, and the other, “Double fuck”. It’s not hard to see why they might have disliked the overall result, but to destroy the majority of available copies seems slightly extreme, when you consider that these might be the first Suede songs that are actually…good?
Be My God/Art was recorded on RML, barely a label, and one that has absolutely no online trail. Mat Osman remembers it was the endeavor of a well-to-do schoolmate down in Haywards Heath who most likely had some money to throw around, and so financed bands at his rural studio. This was most likely Curtis Shwartz, who shared some photos of this session to his Instagram in 2020. Apparently, Brett was most diligent with tea-making. Videos of these sessions are also briefly featured in the BBC Rock Family Trees: The Birth of Cool Brittania documentary from 2022, which is available on YouTube and highly recommended!
instagram
Gone is the drum machine for these sessions, and up to the drum kit strode midlander Justin Welch, later the drummer for Elastica, and more recently of Aircooled, who were given a support slot on the Scottish dates of Suede’s 2023 Autofiction tour. Brett Anderson recalls Justin playing ferociously, and driving even more so, almost killing them by spinning out his car on Bethnal Green Road on one occasion. He has clearly been forgiven, as eagle-eyed fans will spot he’s been driving for Suede on their last couple of tours.
Welch’s tenure with Suede was to be short-lived. As drummers tend to be, he was in several other bands, and left amicably to join Crawley outfit Spitfire.
‘Art’ is quite a nice, groovy track. Anderson’s vocals begin to show confidence and, and there’s a certain snarl he’s adopted by this point. It’s an entertaining, catchy listen. Still erring into baggy at points, there’s a little more edge this time around, even if the lyrics remain rather empty.
I do, genuinely, seek this track out sometimes, when I’m on the bus, or sitting at my desk at work. It’s the first Suede song that could really be described as danceable. My main gripe with this one, however, is those vari-sped vocals. This, as any Suede fan knows, isn’t the first time they’d make this mistake.
‘Be My God’ on the other hand, is slow, and again the baggy influences are stronger, but this time, it’s actually good. This feels like everything Natural Born Servant should have been.
This song is often mislabelled on bootlegs as “C’mon C’mon C’mon” due to the repeated refrain, and it’s probably the first Suede track that can be considered…sexy. Anderson breathing “c’mon, have me” is undeniably sensual; an auditory come-hither. The BDSM imagery is less restrained, too, as he pants “I’ll be your dog/be my god”. Despite it hinting at becoming Venus In Furs at any moment, it’s sadly a bit too slow, plodding and musically simplistic to fulfill this wholly, and it still suffers from the virginal feeling of other earlier tracks. Dave Thompson describes this as “a ‘your place or mine’ invitation that slid sex back into the warped equation of “drugs and rock and roll”, which is a fantastic description, though I feel this does, unfortunately, lack all three key elements of sex, drugs and rock and roll.

I don’t really think of low magic in terms of anyone who’s so much as heard of Austin Osman Spare, much less misusing his occult practice. I think of incantations cast deep into the Spectacle. I am online way too much, so my idea of this ill enchanter is somebody speaking algorithmically guided words spoken in a particular voice for maximum engagement. When the ill enchanter posts to X, the Everything App about how a nuclear strike upon U.S. cities will restore "productive" racial demographics, they are pressing buttons to perform a combination in a fighting game online. Maybe it helps to believe some of it, as a means of charging the spell, but all you are really doing is coding, getting the program to reward you, Lilith wriggling her anime tentacles and pennies falling from Heaven. And when the sky is thus swollen, you are encouraged to think of these novel arrangements of categorized sensations as the sum of human endeavor, perfectly reducible to mathematics, and staring hard enough at the wall, you begin to see the 010010100 behind the paint and then, turning to a mirror, you understand the persona you are cultivating now is but numbers you add up to form all that is what you are. That is all you fucking are. You open the door and leave the room and you are in another fucking room.

Morgan Osman, probably Philipp Plein’s most notorious ex, who has also done reality tv (amongst other things 😉) She went viral a while back too due to a video of her ranting at people on a flight being posted online. She does seem to fall out with her exes very spectacularly and has an incredibly fiery nature.
Her surgery journey is interesting and she’s had a lot done. Everything else aside I think the results of it are 👍
Before the facial work

After
Tumblr media
She’s also of course had implants and BBL (more noticeable in the video at the bottom of this post)

She denied being kicked off the flight by the way, says she left of her own accord.

The Glassworker – First Pakistani Anime Movie
Pakistan is releasing their first ever anime-style hand drawn animated movie called “The Glassworker”. I have been following them since my undergrad and I’m very happy to finally get to know it releasing this July. Osman Riaz, the writer, and director of Glassworker has worked tirelessly since 2016. A kickstarter was launched back in February 2016 for this project and back when its pilot was released in 2018, it earned so many praises. It was amazing.
Tumblr media
Now it has been confirmed that the movie is releasing in July of 2024. This is a very big deal because growing up in Pakistan, I never found any company or community who wants to work in animation, especially the anime style animation. It was not taught anywhere; the awareness was next to nothing. This movie will be a steppingstone to quality animation and people who want to work on anime style animations.
youtube
I really loved the art-style as I’m a very big anime fan. We need more studios like Mano Studio in Pakistan so young people who want to pursue a career in animation can learn and work in their own country and making amazing animations.

The Crossing of magical currents, Egregores, and Transformation through Death.
In this post I will offer a pet theory I have that's not backed by any historically provable(? is that a word) way, I hope that by writing this that I offer different way to look at things in modern point of view but not so near our history. I hope that this view isn't seen as definitive and I hope people push it BEYOND it's sphere. I find people get too academic or too smug or too too too many too, even irony poisoned and damaged by the whole affair that they get too...insincere and if anything this posts I want to deliver forth is BE SINCERE that's it.
Apollonius and Levi
Tumblr media
I think there's this assumption of "oh Eliphas levi just scared himself when contacted Apollonius", an not everything is mentioned in the high magic book by Levi. I am personally of the belief that the whole idea of magical chain and egregore that Levi was conjuring up was all in effort to create a cord/chain to link the modern occult practices he had. That was the whole work in the his chapters to create a fulcrum for reviving magical practices. Was the whole necromantic evocation a sham, was it real? what was the plan of Levi? If we divide 22/2 then we find the middle point of the whole chapters and book that was his master plan, his book was a literal hypersigil for linking the practices of modern occultism to a chain reaching back to Apollonius, he warns about necromancy but then does it himself, he calls him a divine ghost but say that normal people shouldn't work necromancy. I can't in good faith look at this and tell you look, yeah he was just larping. Regardless of the whole process, Levi inevitably linked the whole practice with the Nuctemeron. My intention here is that the 12 hours of initiation of Papus. Are in background of all of this. Following Screencap with my highlight, Resurrection is Zayin(7, Chariot) combined with Mem(13, Necromancy) lead us to Resh(20, Thaumaturgy, Universal Medicine) and what do you think the title of the 20th chapter in that chapter...resurrectio
Tumblr media
Olive Pixely and British Occultism
Here we enter with a different whole character that barely have any online presence for people, and this is a funny contiuation to Levi because in this sense Olive is channeling christian mystical practices from her dead brother..The reach of Olive's teaching is immense, it jumped through the Atlantic and we see it in the writing of Geoff-Cobb's New Avatar Power in his Dee-Hay-Thooth ritual, Gareth Knight talked about the same ritual, and her Cosmic breathing was also found in the writings of Jacobus G. Swart. Sadly her system isn't known by a lot, and the ripple of her work went further than what she thought her work would touch many many people. The main point here is that the practice itself centered and start with the same fulcrum preceding by Levi. Death(of her brother) was the start which this transformation of her and other people took place! In this sense, we don't know how far her teachings, influences, and techniques reached but intuitively speaking on my part...I feel like she did cause major change in British occultism that's hidden in nature.
Stele of Revealing, Austin Spare, Crowley, Thelema, Chaos Magic and DEATH.
Tumblr media
The Stele of Revealing is an older text in this sense but it carried the same force and same momentum of other works above I talked about. Crowley had his book of the law after he saw this Stele:
Tumblr media
Austin Osman Spare created this Stele embodying the secret glyphs and sigils of the Cultus:
Tumblr media
AOS and Crowley are both definitely influenced by this Death Posture, by Transformation through Death. The Thelemic current is transformed and upraised by the funerary tablet of Stele of Revealing and when people do Liber Resh..Why Resh? Zyin + Mem = Resh, Resurrection of Death by Will Power. That's the whole of Liber Resh. The people telling you about it being related to Great Work or to some Thelemic concept aren't looking at the deeper symbol going on, Even AOS bring the topic of the death posture. I think it is in hsi book The Focus of Life he mentions: “By the Death Posture the body is allowed to manifest spontaneously and is arbitrary and impervious to action. Only he who is unconscious of his actions has courage beyond good and evil, and is pure in this wisdom of sound sleep.” The Death posture is a sympathetic magical representation of the thing that Stele of Revealing, Olive Pixely, and Eliphas Levi all did and shared in one form. The death posture for all intent and purposes is the sigil of the operation of conscious sacrifice toward transformation. In the book of Pleasure AOS mentions: “The new law shall be the arcana of the mystic unbalanced 'Does not matter-need not be'; there is no necessitation, 'please yourself' is its creed (the Belief ever striving for denial is kept free by retention in this state). Let's talk Crowley's channeled book of Law, specifically the sections that are important: Chapter 1: 12. Come forth, o children, under the stars, & take your fill of love! 13.I am above you and in you. My ecstasy is in yours. My joy is to see your joy 20. The key of the rituals is in the secret word which I have given unto him Chapter 2: 7. I am the Magician and the Exorcist. I am the axle of the wheel, and the cube in the circle. "Come unto me" is a foolish word: for it is I that go 13. for why? Because thou wast the knower, and me. 20. Beauty and strength, leaping laughter and delicious languor, force and fire, are of us
Now I know it's weird that I would be quoting these specific sections but if you look at them you can start to see that Crowely just became a chain of this work, he become the ring in the chain of this Stele that's reaching until today. All the work we have of PGM related magic nowadays, Arabic magic, and so on is touched by this Stele metaphysically/astrally if you think about it. Anyway I am going a bit out there with my rambling, to sum it up. The Stele itself is an astral door(Daleth), Olive Pixely is a channel(Beth), and Eliphas Levi is a nail/peg/hook(Vau). As letter, they're all manifestation toward the Mem(Death), they are all qabbalistic gematria waiting to be unlocked and explaining each meaning of their manifestation: 2 + 13 4 + 13 6 + 13 The post is getting a bit too long but I hope with this I can offer some area for connecting and explaining the mysteries and a space for the manifestation of wisdom. Clearly, you the reader are currently thinking oh he must be saying that death or anything related to death is important. That's true, and more on that we see the most sacrifice in the figure 12-13 the sacrifice of the hanged man lead to the transformation of creation. It's by conscious sacrifice or by sacrificing our conscious that we transform the world. It's not JUSTICE, people think of a Just World but the world is Justified through Sacrifice. I almost forgot... BE SINCERE!

it's a reference to this nursery rhyme!
Tumblr media
i remember this !!
this is simply my suspicion and not shade whatsoever, but if john wasn't doing/hadn't done the golf channel with alex then i suspect elis would have been asked (first?) — he's got a much bigger online following, has more panel show experience, more radio dj experience, the intense welshness can be argued as a favourable "something different" in the eyes of the network. at the same time, nick fills the slot that elis would have otherwise had on this series, so it works out for john! either way it doesn't surprise me john is on :)
i'd also mention that in this clip john makes a point that few people want to acknowledge, which is that alex ultimately doesn't get final say over who is cast — even if he is collaborating with the network, recommending people, whatever. there are other bossman at the network who work full time on casting strategy and make those final casting calls. so i hope people don't hold alex totally responsible for who is and isn't on the show — it's complicated!
btw i would die for elis on taskmaster or anything else, i just adore the man
Tumblr media
hahahahaha this is not creepy YOU ARE MY SOULMATE
and LOOK AT THEM!!! when are we getting meet the osmans pls...
Tumblr media
LMAO thank you for bringing this back to my attention

ASAW - Day Six Post 23/2/2024
ASAW - Aromantic Spectrum awareness week.
https://www.arospecweek.org - Link to ASAW Website
Links to other days:
[1]---[2]---[3]---[4]---[5]---[7]
Day six - Aro media characters
Just a list of aromantic characters in media.
Sherlock Holmes
I know in the BBC series they hint towards him being alloromantic (and probably gay) but in the original book series he was pretty much confirmed to be aromantic.
"I have seldom heard him mention her under any other name. In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of her sex. It was not that he felt any emotion akin to love for Irene Adler. All emotions, and that one particularly, were abhorrent to his cold, precise, but admirably balanced mind." The extract is from "A Scandal in Bohemia"
Alastor - Hazbin Hotel
Alastor has been confirmed by the creator of Hazbin to be aromantic which is obviously very exciting for the community.
Tumblr media
Rosie is my favourite ally ever.
Alice Osman characters
Alison Osman themself identifies as aromantic (looked at that in another post) and has written quite a lot of aromantic characters into her books.
I've never read an Alice Osman book so I'm doing this based on research.
Georgia Warr - Loveless
Georgia is the main character of loveless and the book is about her discovering her own orientation while also meeting a lot of other people part of the aro community.
Jess - Loveless
Jess is an aromantic bisexual in the novel loveless. I can't find very much information apart from this online but I love that allo-aros are getting at least a little bit of the rep they deserve.
I've only included 2 here but there's other characters in Osman's books that fall under the aro spectrum including, Ellis (Georgias cousin) and Isaac in Heartstopper.
There's a serious lack of aromantic representation in media currently but hopefully more will come in the future.
If you want to know more about any of this, message me, drop an ask, comment, reblog whatever you want and I’ll do my best to help :)
Happy aro spec awareness week!

Charles undermined late queen’s plan to sue News UK, Prince Harry tells court
Harry claims his father intervened because he wanted to ensure the Sun supported his and Camilla’s future reign
Jim Waterson Media editor
Tue 25 Apr 2023 15.39 BST
Queen Elizabeth II personally threatened Rupert Murdoch’s media company with legal proceedings over phone hacking only for her efforts to be undermined by the then Prince Charles, the high court has heard.
Prince Harry said his father intervened because he wanted to ensure the Sun supported his ascension to the throne and Camilla’s role as queen consort, and had a “specific long-term strategy to keep the media on side” for “when the time came”.
The Duke of Sussex made the claims on Tuesday as part of his ongoing legal action against News Group Newspapers. The legal case lays bare Harry’s allegations of the deals between senior members of the British royal family and tabloid newspapers.
The prince said his father, the king, had personally demanded he stop his legal cases against British newspaper outlets when they were filed in late 2019.
The court filings state: “I was summoned to Buckingham Palace and specifically told to drop the legal actions because they have an ‘effect on all the family’.” He added this was “a direct request (or rather demand) from my father” and senior royal aides.
Harry blamed tabloid press intrusion for collapses in his mental health, said journalists had destroyed many of his relationships with girlfriends, and said British tabloid journalists fuelled online trolls and drove people to suicide.
He said: “How much more blood will stain their typing fingers before someone can put a stop to this madness?”
The duke also suggested that press intrusion by the Sun and other newspapers led to his mother – Diana, Princess of Wales – choosing to travel without a police escort, ultimately leading to her death in 1997.
In 2017, Harry decided to seek an apology from Murdoch’s News UK for phone hacking, receiving the backing of Queen Elizabeth II and his brother. His submission said: “William was very understanding and supportive and agreed that we needed to do it. He therefore suggested that I seek permission from ‘granny’. I spoke to her shortly afterwards and said something along the lines of: ‘Are you happy for me to push this forward, do I have your permission?’ and she said: ‘Yes.’”
Having received the support of Queen Elizabeth II, Harry said he asked the royal family’s lawyers to write to the Murdoch executives Rebekah Brooks and Robert Thomson and seek a resolution. Yet the company refused to apologise and, out of desperation, Harry discussed banning reporters from Murdoch-owned outlets from attending his wedding to Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
In 2018, Sally Osman, Queen Elizabeth II’s communications secretary, wrote an email to Harry explaining that she was willing to threaten legal action in the name of the monarch.
The email read: “The queen has given her consent to send a further note, by email, to Robert Thomson, CEO of News Corporation and Rebekah Brooks, CEO of News UK.
“Her Majesty has approved the wording, which essentially says there is increasing frustration at their lack of response and engagement and, while we’ve tried to settle without involving lawyers, we will need to reconsider our stance unless we receive a viable proposal.”
However, there was no apology, which Harry ascribes to a secret deal between the royal family and senior Murdoch executives to keep proceedings out of court. As part of the legal proceedings he alleged that his brother, Prince William, had secretly been paid a “huge sum of money” by Murdoch’s company in 2020 to settle a previously undisclosed phone-hacking claim.
Harry claimed that, shortly before his wedding, he was informed Murdoch’s company would not apologise to the queen and the rest of the royal family at that stage because “they would have to admit that not only was the News of the World involved in phone hacking but also the Sun”, which they “couldn’t afford to do” as it would undermine their continued denials that illegal activity took place at the Sun.
Murdoch’s company has always denied that any illegal behaviour took place at the Sun and that all phone hacking and illicit blagging of personal material was limited to its sister newspaper, the now-defunct News of the World.
Harry insists this is untrue and claims phone hacking was widespread at the Sun when it was edited by Brooks, now a senior Murdoch executive. He has said he is willing to go to trial in an attempt to prove this. Murdoch’s company denies any wrongdoing at the Sun, or that there was any secret deal between the newspaper group and the royal household over phone hacking.
The prince also said press intrusion into the life of his mother was “one of the reasons she insisted on not having any protection after the divorce” as she suspected those around her of selling stories to outlets such as the Sun. He claims: “If she’d had police protection with her in August 1997, she’d probably still be alive today. People who abuse their power like this need to face the consequences of their actions, otherwise it says that we can all behave like this.”
Harry now believes his father and royal courtiers were prioritising positive coverage of his father and Camilla in the Sun, rather than seeking to back his legal claims. He said: “[T]hey had a specific long-term strategy to keep the media (including [Sun publisher] NGN) onside in order to smooth the way for my stepmother (and father) to be accepted by the British public as queen consort (and king respectively) when the time came … anything that might upset the applecart in this regard (including the suggestion of resolution of our phone-hacking claims) was to be avoided at all costs.”
He said all of his girlfriends would find “they are not just in a relationship with me but with the entire tabloid press as a third party”, leading to bouts of depression and paranoia. He claimed the press was pushing him in the hope of “a total and very public breakdown”.
He made clear his personal loathing of Brooks, who was found not guilty of phone hacking by a jury in June 2014. He said: “Having met her once with my father when she was hosting the Sun military awards at the Imperial War Museum in London and having seen her essentially masquerading as someone that she wasn’t by using the military community to try and cover up all the appalling things that she and her newspapers had done, I felt this surprise at her acquittal even more personally, especially as I had been duped into thinking that she was OK at our meeting.”

cataloguing all my new books because I love doing this
my friend was in town last week, and having somebody visit reminded me that I can just. go places and do things whenever I want
so I went to three different bookstores, and I also ordered some online "just in case"
so. new this week:
Lumberjanes 1 & 2 (ND Stevenson & friends)- I read the first one earlier this year and liked it, but was a little confused? so I got the sequel to help me out with that!
Wheel of Time 4, 5, & 6 (Robert Jordan)- I'm already this far in. What more do I have to lose?
Echo (Pam Muñoz Ryan)- A fond memory! I was asked to review an advance copy of this book when it came out in 2015. At the time I was making fast friends with the local librarian, and she ended up asking me to review a lot of books after this, including The Box and the Dragonfly, my favorite book ever! I remember liking Echo a lot, and then it got the Newbery medal so I was probably right.
Hollow Dolls (MarcyKate Connolly)- I was looking for Monstrous, another book I reviewed around that time, but found out the author is still writing... about body snatchers apparently? How could I say no?
Edgedancer, Dawnshard, & Mistborn Secret History (Brandon Sanderson)- Found some nice hardcover editions of these three Sanderson novellas I love. I know Lift's not a popular character but she's one of my favorites <3
Power of Three, Omen of the Stars, & A Vision of Shadows (Erin Hunter)- Finally got myself Warrior Cats arcs 3, 4, and 5! I've never actually read AVoS so I'm very excited about that.
Onestar's Confession (Erin Hunter)- I don't actually like Onestar and I've heard this book isn't very good, but it's the only Super Edition any of the bookstores had...
Secrets of the Clans, Code of the Clans, & both Ultimate Guides (Erin Hunter)- The first two of these are a lot nicer than I expected! The full-color illustrations and fold-out maps are very welcome, and almost make up for Featherwhisker not being in the second Ultimate Guide >:(
A Thief in ThunderClan & The Rise of Scourge (Erin Hunter)- Rise of Scourge isn't my favorite but it's waaaay prettier in color. I've been excited about its release.
The Disappearing Spoon & The Icepick Surgeon (Sam Kean)- I love both these books! But I didn't own them for some reason... so I finally got them in paperback to match my other Sam Kean books.
Chasing Vermeer & Hold Fast (Blue Balliett)- The Wright 3, also by Blue Balliett, is one of the most well-thumbed books in my library! I finally got myself a copy of Chasing Vermeer, plus Hold Fast, which I've actually never read.
Gregor the Overlander (Suzanne Collins)- I don't actually remember why I put this on my reading list, but I'm really excited to try it out!
Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow (Jessica Townsend)- One of you on my dash is really excited about this book, and I'm ready to get into it too.
The Constant Rabbit (Jasper Fforde)- I'm going to read Thursday Next eventually and I think it's going to thoroughly absorb me, so I figured I'd try some of his other books first! This one is about anti-rabbit bigotry, apparently.
Babel: An Arcane History (R.F. Kuang)- I'd been casually waiting for this to come out in paperback so I could try it without committing too much. We'll see how I feel about it!
The Thursday Murder Club (Richard Osman)- I love mystery series, especially big or ongoing ones, so I figured I should give this a try! Weirdly enough, I know Richard Osman from having been on Taskmaster, despite him being pretty thoroughly independently famous.
Legends & Lattes (Travis Baldree)- The premise intrigued me. I normally go for epic fantasy, so I'm not sure if I'll find this fun... depends on the quality of the storytelling and the presence of a romantic subplot (or, preferably, the lack thereof.)
The Hexologists (Josiah Bancroft)- My best friend told me about this, and it looked so ridiculous I just had to try it (/pos).
Raybearer (Jordan Ifueko)- I know almost nothing about this! But it was another friend's first recommendation, and if her taste is anything to judge by, I'm going to love it.
Gideon the Ninth (Tamsyn Muir)- Also new and exciting for me. I say I like to read fantasy, but I feel a little bad that most of that rests on Brandon Sanderson. So I'm trying some new fantasy authors!
Because Internet (Gretchen McCulloch)- I used to listen to her linguistics podcast a lot- "Lingthusiasm"- so for a long time I thought her last name was spelt McCullough. I'm sure she'd find that interesting.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue (V.E. Schwab)- I know V.E. Schwab has written a lot of cool-looking fantasy books, so I'm trying out a standalone from her to see whether I'd like to read more. Should be intriguing!
Watership Down (Richard Adams & friends)- This is actually a graphic novel adaptation of the original classic, which is a book I absolutely love. I got this for my grandma for Christmas, and I just couldn't resist getting my own copy!
This Is How You Lose the Time War (Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone)- I do love time travel, and anything that scratches the DARK itch will be well welcome.
In the Lives of Puppets (TJ Klune)- After reading The House on the Cerulean Sea and Under the Whispering Door, I'm sure this will be lovely. I'd been eagerly awaiting its paperback release for quite a bit!
Yeah, I don't know why I did this. I love both reading and collecting books, and sharing them with people is quite the treat <3
I hope my 3 followers and cheezbot enjoy this!
