Found out my grader for my surgery residency likes to draw comics in his spare time too and that he likes to draw comics for his students when they leave
Since I’m leaving and can also draw, I figured I’d return the favor
Not my best work, but it had to be kind of rushed anyway

JUJUTSU KAISEN’S ANATOMY
Part II of this cute lil ask right here
A/N: Shit. You just graduated med school. And today…people expect you to…doctor? Mom come pick us up, we’re SCARED (real thought on my first day of residency).
S/N: Meet your first year surgical residency class. Undifferentiated little stem cells. The bottom of the surgical food chain. First shift last 36 hours and you work every second night until you drop.
All you know is that you like to cut. Where/what/how that cutting comes will be decided later. Everyone has an idea of their subspecialty but…shit happens, preferences change and sometimes the spleen just bleeds for no fucking reason at 4 am when you’ve gotten 30 minutes of sleep in the last 3 days and you have to—what? Sorry. Forgive me.
Let’s get into it.
For the love of God, interns — pick up your pagers.
SURGICAL INTERNS ON CALL
Dr. Yuji Itadori
Specialty Interest: ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY
Don’t tell Dr. Sukuna about this but who here is shocked. This sack of muscles THROWS SUVS AT HIS MORTAL ENEMIES ON A RANDOM TUESDAY NIGHT??? Please???? He also does shit like watch Wormo-Man parts I-V and this is peak orthopod behavior. Yuji definitely has contests with his patients on rounds who can crush the cranberry juice or protein shakes the fastest. Spoiler, he always lets the patient win.
Everyone thinks he’s just joking around but it’s his way of getting post op patients to get their nutrition in. He’s a very thoughtful doctor, even though people assume he’s no thoughts just vibes between his eyes.
Dr. Megumi Fushiguro
Specialty Interest: HAND SURGERY (can be achieved via Ortho or plastics)
Hand surgeons are a different BREED. Do me a favor and google “hand anatomy.” Not only will you find like 400 bones, there are 7,000 tiny tendons, lumbricals, digital arteries, veins and nerves all packed into the little mitts we take for granted. And to add insult to injury — all of the muscles and tendons are in latin. Like whoever decided that please take your seat on this one way train to hell :)
Nevertheless, Dr. Geto spotted Dr. Fushiguro on day ONE of intern year. How meticulous and neat he is. How intelligent he is in the O.R. As an intern, Megumi broke the record for the fastest carpal tunnel release for residents (4 minutes, 35 seconds — not faster than mine though, 3 mins, 52 seconds over here big dawg). Suguru is Megumi’s mentor within the first week. Two peas in one moody brunette, pod.
Dr. Nobara Kugisaki
Specialty Interest: TRAUMA SURGERY
Nobara is 100% resistant to the Satoru Gojo, MD charm. Unlike the rest of the residents, she isn’t squeezing into Dr. Gojo’s trauma ORs just to graze his gloved hand with theirs. Or make eyes over the surgical masks. No, Nobara did her first cricothyrotomy and became HOOKED. The day she had to climb on the gurney to tie off a patient’s external jugulars because after coding and ROSC (return of spontaneous circulation) they were SPURTING out of the large pipes in their neck — she was sold. Trauma surgery through and through.
Real story btw. It was insane. Whirlwind of a day from the trauma bay to the OR to the ice cream we all scarfed down after because we won that day. And you don’t win every day. So the days you get to tell the Angel of Death to fuck off, you savor them.
Dr. Maki Zenin
Specialty Interest: VASCULAR SURGERY
Little known fact about vascular surgeons is that they are gangster as fuck. Hear me out. They like the blood PAPER thin, right? Small, rusty pipes need to get fluid through, so thin the fluid out as much as possible. Meaning patients are on aspirin, lovenox, heparin, and every other anticoagulant known to man.
Everyone else with a working amygdala is scared to DEATH of these patients bleeding because you look at them sideways and suddenly hemorrhage everywhere. Not vascular surgeons and not Maki Zenin. “Aorta ruptured..? No prob, just sew it up with a couple stitches. What—like it’s hard?” - Every Vascular Surgeon ever. Maki just gives unhinged-unbothered-let-them-bleed energy to me. Plus vascular surgeons do all of the amputations. Maki is doing that with her cursed tools and scrubbing in with hand sanitizer only. Period.
Dr. Yuta Okkotsu
Specialty Interest: TRANSPLANT SURGERY
The OG lover boy is NO different in this AU. He is sentimental. He cries with patients. Dr. Nanami met him during the first month of his residency and immediately took him under his wing. Yuta is always the last to leave the anatomy lab, making sure to stitch the donors completely closed — even though no one will see. When asked why he spends hours post call doing it, he says: “Because they deserve respect until the very end.” Nanami And Yuta are a perfect match. After Yuta’s first liver transplant, Nanami takes him to the same hill he lays on by the airport. They both say goodbye to the donor together.
Dr. Toge Inumaki
Specialty Interest: ….he switched to PSYCHIATRY, still tight with the surgical interns though.
Hello, please this is also obvious. Inumaki is the only one in the group who can listen intently for hours without interruptions lmao. He saw that aggressive surgery shit and said absolutely not I’ll take my talents ELSEWHERE 😂
And you know, funnily enough, a good majority of surgeons ALSO were torn between picking surg vs psychiatry. My mentor told me that its because its as invasive, just without the scalpel. The rest of us meatheads just like the scalpel a little too much to put it down.
Panda:
Specialty Interest: N/A
He is the hospital emotional support animal.
E/N: Alright interns. Do your best not to kill anyone. And if your chief resident (me) is sleeping, don’t page me. And if you do page me the patient better be knocking on heaven’s gates. And if they are knocking on heaven’s gates, they better not have crossed into the bright light before I get there.
Real E/N: Kidding. I am so full of shit lol. I am the senior that brings my juniors cafecitos and treats and takes their pager to let them get some well deserved rest.
Don’t be late to your OR cases, Shoo!

Hazbin Hotel Characters as Medical Specialties
Charlie: Pediatrics
You're telling me can't imagine Charlie with Bluey stickers in her pocket and saying "oh I see a dog in your ear. Woof!" When using an otoscope on a child with an ear infection? Be so for real rn
Vaggie: Emergency Medicine
This woman thrives in chaos, she grew up on a battefield. The ED is the Wild West of medicine and Vaggie thrives under the constant stress and variety
Vaggie: "what do you mean you were woodworking while drinking, are you fucking stupid"
Vox: Nephrology
Okay, okay this one is less based in personality and more based in the fact that I need to see a pissing competition between Vox and Alastor (as a cardiologist) about fluid status and renal function
Vox: *decreases lasix dosage in a patient with poor renal function*
Alastor: *punches Vox bc that patient is also fluid overloaded and has heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction*
Velvette: Dermatology
Listen you can't tell me that she didn't have amazing skin when she was alive. I can see her moving more towards the cosmetic side of dermatology with occasional biopsy or Mohs bc who doesn't love a procedure every once in a while
Cherri: ICU/Crit Care
Like Vaggie, Cherrie also thrives in chaos and things in the ICU can go from 0 to 100 in less than a minute. I also feel like she would have pretty good empathy and separation of work and home to be able to not let the job get to her too much
Angel: Psych
This just feels perfect to me, more based on my own experience but everyone I've met in Psych is kind while also being the coolest person you've ever met. I also think Angel would really be able to empathize with his patients based on his own history with addiction. He really likes to listen and offer support and advice.
Alastor: Cardiothoracic surgeon or Cardiologist (to get into a pissing contest with Vox about fluid and sodium)
Look, I know Al is like the perfect surgeon. He's intimidating, meticulous, and calculating. And I don't disagree, I think he would thrive as a CT surgeon...however, there's just something about him arguing with the nephrologist that just gives me the giggles
Lucifer: Internal Medicine
Listen, he's done it all and seen it all. He will spend hours rounding because he just wants to make sure he gets everything right (he's also avoiding going home alone but that's a different story). He also loves working with medical students and will give rousing lectures on first-line antihypertensive and diabetes medications (while also getting all of the students and residents names wrong).
Lute: OBGYN
Listen, I love Lute but if I knew her in real life she would intimidate me so badly. Much like the OBGYN attendings I worked with. She's amazing at her job and beloved by her patients for her blunt yet realistic recommendations, but in her L&D room or operating room, that is her domain and there is no deviation from that. Medical students and residents should exercise caution, but she will teach them the most out of any rotation
Adam: Orthopedics
This man is an ortho bro if I've ever see one. He is the attending who will pimp medical students on the playlist he has playing in the OR instead of the surgery in front of them. (What do you mean you don't know what artist this is? It's the fucking Eagles. Go home and study up, we're playing Led Zepplin tomorrow.)
Niffty: Pathology
Listen I have no explanations for this one. It just felt perfect, tbh
Husk: Anesthesia
This man is like every anesthesiologist I've ever met. He is there stereotype and sits behind the current with his sudoku in hand. Don't let that fool you, this man has knowledge and skill and is not afraid to use. The second your patient starts de-sating or coding, he's the one you wanna listen to
Rosie: Family Medicine
Rosie is the picture-perfect family medicine attending. Kind, empathetic and offers great advice. From cradle to grave, she's got you covered with primary prevention and screening and will be there for you for whatever comes next
Lol this is meant in good fun, so there are a few stereotypes about the different specialties and a lot of it is based on my own experiences on rotations. Let me know what you guys think. I know I missed some characters so let me know if y'all want me to come up with more.

hello! i’m sick. we are currently in our 3rd week of surgery outside rotation and it has been good. there were good times, but mostly there were bad times. what a thrill to be here. i am rotating in an orthopedic center and we see a lot of dislocated, broken, and crushed bones but we mostly do history and PE, gram stain, ordering of xrays, not suture which is bumming but we love it here. there’s always free food and the residents are so nice! it’s tiring but really really worth it.

Fallout 4 companions as surgeons in a medical drama
This post has been brought to you by my old Grey's Anatomy hyperfixation clawing its way out out of the basement in my brain
Minus Strong because God no do not let Strong do surgery in any universe
Cait- Orthopedic surgeon, do not fuck up in her OR because it will not end well for you
Codsworth- Pediatric surgeon. He's very good with his paitents, good with teaching residents
Curie- Head of Cardio. Godlike in the OR, very passionate about her clinical trials.
Danse- Trauma surgeon. Used to be a surgeon in the military. Can save a guy you're sure is going to be dead.
Deacon- Plastic surgeon, focus on reconstructive surgery. Probably does free cleft pallet surgery for kids.
Hancock- Not technically a surgeon but Hancock is an anesthesiologist. Cracks jokes in the OR. Has probably "accidentally" taken drugs from work home with him.
Maccready- Surgical resident, interested in pediatric surgery.
Nick- Head of General Surgery. Has seen a lot of shit in all his years of being a surgeon, very little surprises him anymore. Very calm in the OR, if he's worried everyone is worried.
Preston- Heart Surgeon. Amazing bedside manner, probably cries when he loses a paitent, does probono surgery.
Piper- Another surgical resident like Maccready, not sure what she wants to specialize in. Potentially interested in neuro but a little scared of X6
X6-88- Neurosurgeon, hardly ever says a word in the OR, no one knows anything about his personal life. Scares the shit out of the residents. Very talented, it you ask him about his research he'll show emotion around you
Bonus
Gage- Gage lost his license to medical malpractice
Elder Maxon- Nepo Baby Resident. Piper and Maccready talk shit about him behind his back. X6 yelled at him in the OR and he will never live it down.
Desdemona- General surgeon, been there almost as long as Nick, she is so tired.
Father- Used to be the head of neuro, got fired for something that the board is keeping on the down low. Even acting head X6 doesn't know what exactly he did.
DiMA- Radiologist, doesn't seem to have left the scan room in months, does he live there?
Dogmeat- therapy dog, we love you Dogmeat

The Experiment ~ Mark Sloan x Male Reader
An old memory comes back to 'haunt' Dr Sloan word count: 1k m!reader (no genitalia mentioned) / FDNI
He didn't expect to ever see you again
But there you were... Walking into Seattle Grace and talking to Chief Webber
"Mark! Are you even listening to me?" Derek snaps his fingers at his friend, but that didn't break Mark's stare
He watched you attentively as you walked towards him and Derek with the Chief; head empty-no thoughts, except that at the same time, many different thoughts ran through Mark's brain!
"Shepherd, Sloan, this is Dr (L/n). Make sure you get on his good side as he is now our new ENT Attending" The chief introduces you
"Derek Shepherd" the handsome man says, shaking your hand and giving you a smile
"(Y/n) (L/n), pleasure to meet you~" you say, smiling with a warm tone in your voice
A silence fell as Mark failed to introduce himself, still just looking at you
"Sloan!" The chief says, nudging the attractive male out of his trance
"This is Mar-" Derek starts but you cut him off quickly
"Mark Sloan, I know~ We went to med school together" you say with a chuckle and gesture to Richard that you two should go finish up paper work
However, you make sure to give a small wink to Mark as you walk past
And that man's eyes couldn't come off of you as you walked away! Even if he tired to rip em offa ya!
"What? Cat got your tongue, Mark? How come you never told me about (Y/n)?"
"Cause I barely knew him. I have a surgery to get to." The muscular man says and leaves his friend in the hallway
The truth was that not only were you and Sloan in Med school together, but you two also experimented together
For a while as well...
And no matter how good it was for the both of you, Mark didn't like to admit that he liked it - or at least he didn't back then
Nowadays, Sloan's a little more comfortable in his sexuality - when Callie came out he tried to comfort her by saying "Hey! I kinda like guys too??", which thoroughly shocked the orthopedic surgeon
But back in med school? Mark had a reputation to hold up! He couldn't afford to lose it, no matter how much his heart would race every time you smiled at him or how many mornings in a row he would wake up early just to watch you sleep beside him with nothing but his covers over you to hide your beautiful, naked body
"Dr Sloan! Perfect timing, I was just introducing Dr (L/n) to your patient" Yang explained as Sloan's resident on the case, which you had now joined
"Dr (L/n)?" Sloan questioned
"Yes Dr Sloan, you are reconstructing this young woman's ears, so I will be needed for this surgery" you say with a smile and return to the patient
During the whole explanation to the patient, Mark looked at you and thousands of thoughts rushed through his head
Why are you here?
How have you been?
Does he still have feelings for you?
Was that the reason he stopped hooking up with you?
Why does he have a boner?
Oh no he has a boner.
And so on, so forth
"Dr Sloan, a quick word please?" You ask
The two of you walk out into the hall as Christina answers any questions the patient has
"Listen, I know I'm incredibly attractive and you want to profess your undying love to me, Mark - however we are both at work, so please keep your eyes off of my face and ass. Could you do that for me?" You ask in a tone which sounded as if you were gentle-parenting the plastic surgeon, giggling at the man's slow nod
"Sure, but we need to talk later" Sloan mumbles
"Talk? About what? I remember you were the one that stormed out of my apartment half naked shouting "I'm not a homo"?" You say with a cold face, a small raise of your eyebrow and squint of your eye emphasising your point and leaving the plastic surgeon slightly speechless
At lunch, you were the most popular attending, like a steak thrown to hungry lions, everyone wanted to get to know you, befriend you or bed you
"So why become an ENT?" Arizona asks
"More importantly, are you single?" Another attending asks
"Leave the man alone... where did you study?" Asks Bailey
Sloan was left standing with an apple in his hand as the table was crowded with attendings and residents, especially ones with interests in your specialty
"Oh! Mark!" Dr Torez calls the man-slag over, making the smile on your face fade for a second
"Excuse me, I just need to go check on a patient" you say, getting up from the table and walking off
But Sloan followed you...
Next thing you know, you're in a supply closet with your ex hook-up/fuck buddy/boyfriend/whatever
"What the hell, Mark??" You kinda shout, your hand rubbing your head as you had knocked it into a shelf
"Just give me 5 minuets to explain myself, (Y/n)! Please" Mark begs, his tall figure looming above you as his chest presses against yours
"Fine, but that's all you get" you say with a pissed off look
And so he started
Explaining how he was ashamed of himself
How he didn't really want to break things off
How he was wholly in the wrong
And how he still has feeling for you all these years later...
By the end of it, the tall man had a tear in his eye and a thin blush on his face; you felt pretty bad for him, and guilty for being a bitch to him earlier
"Mark... I'm sorry for being such a dick" you say, hugging him, your head resting against his huge chest; a feeling so vaguely familiar
"No, I'm sorry (Y/n)"
"Turn a new leaf?" You say with that warm smile which Mark had fallen for back in college
"Sure, sweetcheeks" Mark responds with the nickname he used to call you
There won't be a part 2 sorry guys but I had to cheap out of Disney+ so Grey's anatomy is NOT on my mind

Claws my way into consciousness.
My last night shift (of this rotation) is finally over!!
Things that suck: My one day off this week is ostensibly Sunday. I finished my shift at 7am on Sunday. I am back to day shifts starting 9am on Monday. Haha. This is fine.
Silver linings: All my day shifts are 9 hours days instead of 10 hours, and Tues/Weds are FM program stuff (clinic plus an afternoon of didactics) which are comparatively much more chill than the emergency deparment. Also, still being in my 20s means that if I set myself up well for it, I'm pretty good at switching between days and nights even when they only give me one day for it. (So far.) (It's still not fun, though.)
I've been told that a lot of residency is "getting comfortable with being uncomfortable" and while it initially made me prickle to hear, I'm starting to actually settle into that, because it's very true. Almost every single thing I have done this rotation so far, from simple to complicated, has been something that I've never done (and often never even seen done) before, and that's uncomfortable! But every time I think, "Oh, god, a pediatric patient with nebulous kidney problems that I don't know how to address, I don't want to go take that one!" the follow-up thought is: "Well, it would be really hard to fuck it up so badly my attending couldn't fix it, and how else am I gonna learn?" And then after that I get, like, five vomiting infants in a row and suddenly seeing a baby isn't inherently terrifying and also now I know every possible way to prescribe a baby Zofran, haha.
That said, there's only so long I can consistently maintain that level of ambient stress, so I'm looking forward to my next rotation, which is orthopedic surgery and allegedly a chill 8-5 with weekends off. Shoutout to all the seniors in the ED who continue to be quite nice and supportive, and also understanding of my stress levels and confusion. (And also to the psych resident I keep having night shifts with as the only other non-EM intern around! Solidarity!!)
#personal#dear diary#residency#my THIRD rotation is inpatient hospitalist which I've been told is burnout central#that's the 6a to 6p and 6 days a week rotation#and then I have EM (non-peds) after that aaaAAAA#BUT AFTER THAT! outpatient peds with my vacation week over Thanksgiving!#also extra shoutout to the message I got saying folks are enjoying my life/residency updates#I really appreciate it Q^Q!!! <3#other night shifts this year are gonna include: probably a few more during my ED (not peds) rotation and OBGYN 24 hour call#and one week of nights during one of our three inpatient rotations with a senior onboard so we don't start solo nights 2nd year cold turkey

Spent the whole afternoon at A&E and now all I can think about is Hospital AU Bakusquad…
Kirishima is in paediatrics.
A giant of a man, who everyone assumes (or hopes) is a physio or maybe even cardiology, but is most often seen with his hair in odd pigtails or butterfly clips, the tattoos on his forearms partially coloured in with bold felt tip. His mega-watt smile and calm, protective demeanour has both kids and parents seeking out his warmth and it isn’t uncommon to hear calls asking when ‘Dr Ei’ is going to be back on the ward. His office is littered with drawings from his patients and thank you cards from their parents - and it isn’t uncommon to see the odd scrawled phone number appear on the edge of a post it note that has somehow found its way into the pocket of his scrubs or coat.
Kaminari is a radiology tech.
He specialised because he thought he’d have a higher chance of seeing tits in his day-to-day work life, but stayed when he discovered his unexpected talent of reading radiographs. He’s got an eye for it, a weird knack that has his final year professor outright refusing to let him pivot to midwifery or plastics. He doesn’t mind so much these days. He’s the life of the department, with an easy going charisma that lures his, often anxious, patients back to relative calm and a manner that makes him more than approachable. ‘Ask Kaminari’ are often the first words spoken in front of a grainy X-Ray, his name the first on patients lips who have been seen by him before.
Mina is a specialist paramedic.
Trained to the highest level alongside Bakugo in med school, Mina decided surgery was just a little too detached for her liking - choosing instead to be the front line for those in an emergency. She likes the rush, the adrenaline filled afternoons that rely on her quick thinking and flawless bedside manner, but she also likes the breaks. Some of her favourite rides are booked appointments ferrying over the resident old dear for her routine CT scan and she’s a favourite amongst the frequent riders. The urgent care staff love her, knowing that they’re getting the best possible hand off when they see her bubblegum curls bounce through the doors, gloved hands gripping the stretcher as she reels off seamless histories and reassurances.
Sero is in orthopedics.
Having undergone his own elbow arthroplasty as a young adult, he knew exactly what he wanted to specialise in even before he started his first year of rotations. By his graduation, he had co-published a series of papers, pioneering a new innovative surgical fix for adolescent joint restoration that involved a veterinary technique using medical grade fishing wire. Despite this, he is humble to his core and steadfastly patient focuses where others may have sought out further research possibilities. His youthful demeanour makes him popular, despite his shyness, oh, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s absolutely smoking hot (and oblivious) either.
Bakugo is an ER Doctor.
It was certain that Bakugo was going far. Graduating top of his class, it was a sure thing that he would become one of the leading surgeons of his generation… Only for him to join the emergency department instead. Longing for a challenge, there are no safer hands in the department than his. Called in for the more harrowing and difficult cases, what he lacks in bedside manner is made up for easily in skill. He is blunt in demeanour and easy to anger, but ask any of the nurses in A&E and they’ll tell you all of that vanishes as soon as a child walks through the door. He has a cult following among the staff, nurses who long to crack his impenetrable shell and get to the gooey stuff they know is underneath and who can blame them? They’ve seen him shirtless in the overnight rooms.
#Honourable mentions for:#Oncologist Izuku. He lost his step father to cancer as a teenager and wanted to make sure that no other family had to suffer as much as his.#Dietitian Uraraka. Chubby with a sweet tooth; she grew sick of being told to eat better and lose weight -#Having her own health issues ignored bc of her BMI. Now she dispels myths and teaches people what true health and balance is.#There’s always sweets on her desk.#Psychologist Tokoyami. Having a family history of mental health issues that plagued his childhood - He now specialises in the hold unit;#making those who feel lost understood.#RN Momo. Runs her ward flawlessly - caring to a fault and able to sold every and any issues as if by magic.#Dermatologist Todoroki. Trained as a cardiac surgeon - like his father - only to respecialise to focus on skin allergies and eczema.

Doctor Y/n - Attending Orthopedic Surgeon - 10 - Grey's Anatomy x Fem!Reader
"What is that on your head?" Jo raised an eyebrow, about to reach over when you ducked, avoiding her hands by taking them into yours and holding them instead.
"Okay, as cute as you are, do not grab my antlers- you didn't read your emails did you? Teddy's doing a Silly Hat Day, and it was these reindeer antlers on a headband, or one of the children's tiaras. You have grand rounds, go!" You instructed, nudging Jo to get going before you went to remove the antlers.
"These are going to give me a migraine..."
///
"Nice to meet everyone. I'm Doctor Addison Montgomery, and you must be the group that's been screwing up the program. Kidding." Doctor Montgomery chuckled to herself, leading the residents to grand rounds on it's feet, as Webber put it.
Joey: Doctor Addison Montgomery is here!!!
Braces: groundbreaking uterine transplant, I heard
Joey: Wow so you sound so excited
Braces: I'm reading more articles Callie sent
Joey: Don't you have surgeries as a big shot ortho attending?
Braces: Link and Nico keep taking the good ones, so I just get the children who had broken their arms or legs falling from trees or trampolines
Braces: when I'm not checking on post-ops
Joey: you sound bored:(
Jo however did not get a response, as another article caught your eye. An article which included the name of a doctor you once knew. Doctor Leah Murphy.
///
You only stopped reading when a rumble from the vents interrupted your thoughts, glancing through the window to spot Link reaching up from on top of one of the desks at the vents.
"Damn. No aircon." You realised, hurriedly putting down your tablet to check on patients who could be at risk with the HVAC system down.
///
"Where the hell is Link!" You shouted as you ran through the halls, but it was Webber that answered, stopping your run.
"He's on the roof looking at the HVAC with Altman."
"Teddy and Link are on the roof... okay I know Teddy installed an air con unit this morning but what the hell?" You replied before you had to check up on another patient.
///
"I delievered two babies today in 115 degree heat." Jo announced as she sat in the morgue, eating her snowcone.
"I mean, it's not a competition but I did help out on a successful uterine transplant." Schmitt added before you arrived, missing your reindeer antlers as Teddy frowned slightly, but you were making a beeline for the snowcones before landing on Jo.
"Oh god, you're all sweaty!" Jo grimaced, pushing your snowcone into your face as you went to speak but Jo who was asking Schmitt to put in a good word in for her, in case Doctor Montgomery came back to Grey Sloan to help deliver the uterine transplant baby.
"Leah's thriving in cardio. Articles and everything."
"Murphy? Good for her." Jo shrugged, glancing over at where Owen was talking to Teddy before leaving.
"Yeah. Good for her... I'm so glad I stashed ice cream in the freezer." You admitted, glancing at where Teddy was wearing her bobble hat indoors and saying bad puns.
"Hunt and Teddy are investigating something with veterans, but neither have said much." You explained, checking your phone to see Callie had asked your thoughts on the articles.
///
"Y/n, are you hiding here looking at research and letting Nico take all the good surgeries?"
"Nico got all the good surgeries, and the patients I do have are waiting on x-rays so I'm reading articles that the former head of Ortho sent me. I haven't been to New York since before the pandemic but there's not a lot of ortho stuff going on this season... I mean lately."
"Well, stick around, ortho still needs you, Y/n." Link replied, looking over your shoulder at the article you were reading and muttering a 'wow' under his breath.
Link had barely made it down the corridor when the hospital began to shake, an explosion heard somewhere that had you ducking under your desk.
///
You were quick to call up to daycare, finding out that everyone was fine as Hunt sent over messages wanting everyone in the ER.
"It was a pipeline explosion. He's still not answering." Bailey tried over and over to call Ben, whilst your eyes lingered on the TV displaying the news.
///
Your face fell as a deceased firefighter was brought in from the pipeline explosion scene. Dean Miller had died on the scene. Dean Miller had died on the scene and Victoria Hughes was in trauma one, alive but experiencing heart arrhythmias due to the electrocution.
///
Walking down the corridors, your eyes landed on Bailey and Warren with a two year old girl you didn't recognise, with many more firefighters in the room of the injured firefighter from before.
Down another corridor, in another room, you recognised Farouk in a patient bed, with Megan, Teddy and Owen. You didn't intrude, instead pretending like you had a patient to attend to. You didn't really fit with the Hunt family, not like Teddy did, or Allison.
"What happens if I die? What happens to Luna?"
"I get the penthouse, and Luna, Scout and I buy an 80-inch, high-def TV with your insurance money." Link replied, but Jo frowned, not even realising you were within earshot.
"Link!"
"I've got Luna. That's not even a question, okay? I've got Luna. And you know damn well that Y/n won't let you die without a fight. Honestly, Y/n would go toe to toe with the grim reaper if it meant saving you." Link pointed out, Jo looking relieved at the prospect.
"Thank you."
Letting out a breath you didn't realise you were holding, you unlocked your phone, hitting 'call' on a contact that you knew would probably complain that it was late for her, but you needed to talk to someone.
///
"Are you sleeping through Thanksgiving?" Was the first thing you heard as you reached for and answered your phone from under the blanket on your couch you had fallen asleep on.
"Joey took a shift, so Luna's at daycare. Allison and Leo are at Hunt's mother's house, Teddy is at the hospital with Megan and Farouk. Link is apparently at Amelia's with Scout and Meredith's kids. I am alone for Thankgiving after falling asleep on my couch last night."
"Are you avoiding Owen, or Owen's mother?" Arizona enquired but you didn't respond at first, rolling over in bed to get more comfortable.
"Both, but Teddy is avoiding Hunt's mother too... because she dislikes Leo's clothing choices, whereas Hunt's mother just doesn't like me. I get the feeling she would have preferred Teddy and Hunt to marry and be a happy little nuclear family." You explained, letting out a sigh.
"I don't fit. I don't really fit in anywhere anymore."
"Tell mini-me to visit us in New York-" "Callie, not right now!"
"I should go, happy turkey and whatever day, 'zona." You forced a smile even though Arizona couldn't see it, hanging up before Arizona could get another word in.
///
Sitting on your couch that lived in the living room of the penthouse, you were waiting on an order of Chinese takeaway to arrive. Jo was at the hospital eating gathered up Thanksgiving food with Bailey, Webber, Nico and Schmitt.
Link and Amelia were looking after Zola, Bailey and Ellis with Scout there too. Amelia had sent you a video of Link dancing with Meredith's children.
Heading towards the door once you knew the delivery person was near the building, your eyes landed on a pile of post that had been left near the door.
///
The Chinese takeaway tupperware sat on the coffee table as you began to go through the post, your heart fluttering at the postcard that Stephanie had sent you, along with one from Jackson that made you laugh. It wasn't until you were opening a letter from someone you didn't think had your new address that your eyes filled with tears.
Leah had sent you a letter, whilst Callie and Arizona had sent you cards from New York.
Heading over to the fridge to put the leftovers, your eyes landed on the familar photos from your intern year. You and Brooks. You missed Brooks. Glancing over the photos next to that one, you spotted the one of you and Leah at the Space Needle, and the photo that Jo had taken of you and Hannah Brody too.
The photos were high up enough on the fridge that none of the small children could reach them yet, luckily.
Tugging the hood of your Yale hoodie over your head, you laid down on your couch and put on one of the movies that Brooks had suggested on her list years ago now. A movie from 1989 called the Little Mermaid.
///
The buzzer going off stirred you from your sleep, sleepily walking over to see who it was, your eyes widened in shock, pressing the intercom to speak.
"Mac! Cody! Rory!"
"Did you really think we'd let you spend Thanksgiving alone?" Cody grinned at the camera, holding up Rory who squirmed and squealed in excitement to see you.
