I cannot stress how funny the Doctor is as a character. He ran away from his planet after BARELY scraping through school because he wanted to explore the universe. He has kids, he has a granddaughter he took on his adventures. He ages backwards. He's trained in martial arts. The Gallifreyan High Council once forced him to regenerate because he stole his TARDIS and they FINALLY caught him. He's been accused of assassination twice. Again, he is the President of Gallifrey. Oh yeah and after he was forced to regenerate he was placed on Earth house arrest and was so distressed by this the SECOND he could go and explore he left without his companions for a bit. The Time Lords tried to force him to destroy all the Daleks and he can't because it would be cruel, because he does truly respect all sentient species. He doesn't know how to drive his TARDIS. He can be an ornary little bitch some times, no matter the iteration. He wants to explore sooooo bad but people keep getting him to do jobs he just wants to have fun.

I hate to break it to some of y'all, but some of y'all are the "nuerotypicals" making fun of "nuerodivergents".

Case in point, I am someone who wears headphones out to stores. They help me for being overstimulated. However when someone speaks to me, I know it probably because they missed my headphones because I have a lot of hair.

I'm also an anxious talker, nervous talker, and excited talker. It's a fun little combo. While I can pick up when people don't want me around, it can take a minute.

Everytime I see someone roll their metaphorical eyes about being bothered by someone else while they have headphones in I'm always like hmm interesting.

Because often it's those people in situations where they are bored and underestimated like waiting in a line or on a bus. Something ADHD people hate. Vocal stims, like talking, can help with that. Plus they may come from a culture or age demographic where that was simply the norm.

Meanwhile, your the one getting pissy someone didn't pick up on your oh so CLEAR social clues and boundaries. Sound familiar?

Perhaps it's time we re-evaluate how we use these terms and stop weaponzing them as simply a reason to be ornary.

If you want to be ornary, or grumpy someone talked to you, just say so. I'm grumpy someone talked to me when all I wanted to do was listen to music.

I don't have pets, but I frequently care for my friends' pets. This is my buddy's derpy old man, Ruger. He's a goofy and often grumpy 13 year old who needs to regularly check his pee-mail around the block, grumble at ornary neighbour dogs, and yell for treats.

He's the cutest dog I've ever met and has me wrapped around his tippity tappity toes.

People are really fucking weird sometimes, and I'm really exhausted of dealing with how fucking weird they can be in my direction.

Nano update:

Close to my goal, so I took a bit of a break, my graph looks absurd now lol. I do have the 3rd chapter halfway edited and the 4th half way drafted. I might need to slice the 3rd into two parts, but we'll see.

I'm still antsy if my writing in this project is perhaps a tad bit too ornary, but I'm also comparing a 3rd person serious fantasy with a 1st person sci-fi narrated by a burnt out cynical addict that talks in memes and dick jokes, so maybe my radar is just off.

I'll need to read some books to reset my brain soon, I'm starting to overthink prose again

Read an article and not the headline challenge:

The baby bust article is only a little bit about the pandemic. It's mostly bc the teen pregnancy rate is the lowest it's ever been (a huge success of public intervention and education!) and millennials never financially recovered/recovered really slowly from the great recession so are either having fewer children or having them later. Furthermore, immigrants are having less children in the US for a variety of reasons. It's a (shockingly) multifaceted issue.

Polling suggests everyone wants kids at the same rate, they just don't feel secure enough to have them. This is a trend across the whole western/developed economic spectrum. It's happening in South Korea, in Sweden, and in Singapore. The last census showed a downturn but everyone assumed it would pick up bc that's what it's done virtually every other time. Not because they are idiots, because they are scientists. But it didn't. And it's worrying because the younger generation supports the older generation, not just financially but through gains in education, science, home care, etc and yes, through taxes bc a functional society accounts for all members of that society. The wanting kids but not having them is the crux of the issue and what policy experts, economists, and social scientists are trying to figure out. I know it's funny to assume social scientists who spend their life studying population trends are idiots but sometimes you read an article and learn about methods, assumptions, and results in a way that makes the world richer and more nuanced rather than horrible and ugly.
