Emma Frost and the portrait of the original five

In the picture, you can see Emma Frost, with light streaming across her from the window blinds. It’s supposed to be some late hour, maybe sunset, but since I know nothing about color theory, it looks more like some cold, pale sunrise. Why is Emma up at such an ungodly hour? I’d love to know that too.

Behind her is the infamous portrait of the original X-Men. Scott stands in the middle, with Jean draping her arm over him on his left. To the right, Hank is standing partially hidden, and Professor X is half-concealed, seated. Floating behind them is Warren, playfully gripping young Bobby by the neck.

No one was harmed in the making of this photograph.

On the glass of the portrait, someone’s drawn devil horns, glasses, a goatee, and a tail on Marvel Girl’s face and body. And it definitely has nothing to do with the blue marker in Emma’s hands.
