the way i play with Izzyverse is with every Izzy forming from a branching timeline- that they were all the same at some point, only one thing sent them off on the path to be "someones". some are obvious; Sam, Ed, Jack & Hornigold branch from the mutiny- a split second decision on who to go with, a miss timed hit leaving him in Hornigolds grasp- but the others are less so. how would he become Jackie's, or Ned's, or Anne and Mary's? what happens to make an Izzy Stede's? how do they even meet?
#for me; a stedes izzy has to form Early#before any relationships to ed or sam or anyone suited to his 'hard' life#because i think once hes caught in their orbit its pretty much game over. earth and moon#i dont think stede would stand a chance#i think. theyre kids. izzys been sailing for a few months. hes becoming a hardened pirate. but hes still really only 14/15#and theyre in port one day. and he runs into this 9/10 year old kid. its stede#hes lost; he was running from some bullies but now hes turned around and the suns going down#hes this scared little rich kid in a rough part of town and thats where izzy comes across him; hiding in an alley#behind some crates. now izzys not exactly tender of heart but he does have a particular soft spot for children#he remembers being that child. cowering behind crates. running for safety. maybe its not the same but he cant help but feel this kinship#with stede. so rather than walking by; he speaks to this child#where it goes from there? who knows. i dont think izzy would let baby stede run away to be a pirate#(even if he wants to) but maybe they figure out something else#something happens that drags izzy into his orbit. that makes him be owned by him#nyxtalks#ofmd#izzyverse#(i think it probably works better pre hornigold izzy but. in my set up thats the first time he sees the sea so. fuck me i guess)#made my own bed n all#ill probably rewrite up this tag bit. at some point#sorry this was on the mind#probably not interesting to anyone but meeeee

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
I have literally never been less patriotic or even enthused about this stupid country than I am now, and I expect that if you have been looking at what's going on you shouldn't be either!

i know the founders' homeworld is technically a rogue planet, but I headcanon it to be a crystallised white dwarf. it's a white dwarf that has cooled to habitable temperatures and solidified. that explains what exactly it's doing with no star (it IS a star), and also it would be incredibly dense so the high gravity would suit the great link being just a giant pool of goop. also I just think it's so cool to imagine what life could be like on a cooled white dwarf

Hey, I remember a while back you posted about how JJs entire business strategy with loona was sabotaging them, and I do remember hearing somewhere that he sabotaged them on purpose... Do you remember where he said that? It just seems especially relevant what with these teasers coming out
JJ has never on paper talked about wanting to specifically keep LOONA underground - it was a common belief that orbits held that turned into "it came out of jaden's mouth directly" and people just assumed he said it somewhere amidst the hundreds of blogposts hes made. So that was espoused as fact, and then the JJ dicksuckers said it was a complete lie made up by orbits to make him look bad because there was no direct quote. But thats a whole other thing. Originally, the idea was that JJ intentionally restricted their promotion because the promotions were so small, and there was one blog post that *alluded* to him liking the notion of a mystery group;
"I was going to make a mystery filled girl group. In the age of information excess. In age of knowing too much too easily and information overflowing, I realised I wanted to make the greatest group that couldn't be known." <- this was back in 2012, arguably about lovelyz but vague enough to be about his general attitude to girl groups. To be honest it doesn't fit in well with the work he did with Lovelyz but does fit way more with LOONA & his ambitions of making unknowable lore, so shrug.

Questions I have for vampires:
Is it our Sun specifically that would kill you, or would any star in the middle of a solar system be deadly? What if the planet was further away? Is it like a distance thing? Because you can go out at night and everything and thatā€™s when you see stars.
If you were floating in space would you die like humans would? Or would you just be stuck floating around forever?
If you went to the bottom of the ocean would the pressure crush you, or could you like, walk around in the Mariana Trench?

"you're in my mind all of the time/I know it's not enough" is such a gut punch bc thinking of someone always sure sounds like a lot to me, why's that not enough? what is enough? what are we measuring?
so I looked up U2's comments on the song, "Electrical Storm," released in 2002: the tense, uneasy weather mirrors the tense, uneasy relationship between the singer and their lover. nice, love an extended metaphor. U2 also connected this uneasiness to how a lot of Americans felt after 9/11 attack the year prior, reflecting that the song wasn't intended to be political but those swirling feelings wove their way in anyway.
back to the question: what does "enough" mean and why isn't being "in my mind all of the time" it?
Straightforward Reading: "enough" is a measure of long-term compatibility. Thought is sweet but it isn't action. This person you think about all the timeā€”do you come through for them? Do they come through for you? Or is mutual attraction the only thread holding you together? Alternatively, this partnership you've both put in the love and time to buildā€”does it work? Or do you just wish it did? There are differences no amount of love can overcome.
Hear Me Out Reading: "enough" is a measure of stability and security. What did America do following the 9/11 attacks? Beefed up its national and international security. What did that achieve? The amplification of systemic racism via blatantly targeted ""random searches"" of nonwhite travelers. Further erosion of individual privacy, as if social media empires and other corporations weren't doing enough damage on their own. In its attempt to eradicate terrorism, the US gov't divided and scrutinized the people it claimed it was protecting. Through heightened surveillance, the American people are in their government's "mind" (cough, extensive collections of personal data, cough), all of the time, and it's not enough. This won't guarantee the safety of anyone. All it does is, ironically, terrorize the people who are already marginalized and strengthen the power of the already rich and powerful.
I don't think U2 subconsciously wanted to encourage listeners to critically analyze America's response to 9/11, nor the increasingly hellish targeted advertising-filled nightmare that is our current internet. I just think it's cool that "you're in my mind all of the time/I know it's not enough" feels bigger than one storm, bigger than one relationship. Because it can be. It is.

God, if it weren't real tidal locking would seem like such scifi bullshit. Regularly, turning with respect to the planet they're orbiting is just too much work for moons so instead they just stay pointed the same way all the time. See? It sounds convoluted and made up, not the dominant mechanism for moon orbits.

SpaceX Falcon 9 Delivers 5-Ton Communications Satellite to Orbit
The company continues to launch rockets at a breakneck pace, with 16 flights of Falcon 9 in the past nine weeks alone.
A Falcon 9 lit up the Florida skies Monday night in what is now a very familiar scene. The rocket successfully deployed Hispasatā€™s Amazonas Nexus communications satellite into a trajectory that will take it to a geostationary orbit, from where it will expand the Spanish companyā€™s coverage across the Americas, the Atlantic Ocean, and Greenland.
The rocket took flight at 8:32 p.m. ET from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. Some eight minutes later, the main stage booster, B1073-6, performed a successful vertical landing atop the Just Read the Instructions droneship stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. This was the boosterā€™s sixth flight, having previously delivered the SES-22 satellite, ispaceā€™s HAKUTO-R lunar lander, and three batches of the companyā€™s Starlink satellites.
