Flicker (nickname) also known as Oralee ("birth" name) is a perfectly healthy girl despite the whole severed head thing.

-she/her pronoums(but don't mind others)

-age is unclear but she's still very young

-she just knocked on the family's door, said she was their's without elaborating and let herself in

-talks a lot, marvels at things but is a bit skittlsh with people outside the "family"

-behaves a bit weirdly with Anko (belongs to @groovygladiatorsheep) and Eve (belongs to @ari-cuno) -> she's slightly jealous of them

-tries so very hard to please Axel and Aim, regardless of if she understood what they asked for or not

-has severe dyscalculia 🎶 (does not know it's a thing, she just thinks she's "number dumb") and it often trips her when she wants to help to the point she's starting to get math anxiety (she tries to hide it)

-do not like to keep her head in her arms so she usually put it in a corner of the room with a good view and roam without (she's very good at guessing where her body is thanks to her excellent memory)

-likes it a lot when someone else is holding her head (head hug ✨) unless the person is careless

-sense of time and direction is very bad (mostly due to the dyscalculia)

-loves dogs

-idly revealed she was artificially made but nothing else about her past (can get mad if asked)

-can summon thin hollow bone sticks and sometimes drums on things with those when she's bored

-she has a glitch that happens when she's unconscious for a while and it forces her awake rather painfully, meaning she just can't sleep a full night in one go (works like when a TV screen asks you to press something to keep it on after a long while of being on, she can't press the thing when asleep so)

-she is not used to processed sugar: cakes, pastries and candy often feel far too sugary

-she thinks anything on TV is an educational thing and will reproduce the things until someone sits her down to explain

-also, if you turn on a screen, she will watch it until someone turn it off regardless of how long it's been and if the thing is interesting

The story of why I choose the severed head design-wise is kinda funny to me (beyond the fact I love dullahans <3)

I was having troubles with her design, especially her head. Redid it like 10 times, markings and eyes just wouldn't cooperate... So I erased the head to start it again (the body was fine at this point) and I just looked at the headless body and thought it looked so nice without the messy head

Soooo I remembered the existance of dullahans and dots were connected uwu

I think pretty much anybody would at least be startled by this XDc

Dullahans usually ride a horse soooo I imagine her being given a very small round pony pfffft (she would prefer a dog tho)

Antrum: The Deadliest Film Ever Made Analysis

Antrum: The Deadliest Film Ever Made is a fascinating film about belief and how far a delusion might take you when presented in the right circumstances. The film begins by posing a question: Will the following “lost media” have a negative effect on you physiologically simply by viewing it?

The found media is about a young woman, Oralee, and her kid brother, Nathan, digging a hole to Hell. In the beginning, it is unclear whether both children believe what they are doing is real, or if Oralee is indulging in Nathan’s imagination. Most stories about a journey to Hell or the Underworld involve the characters literally descending underground. Orally comes up with a clever solution, claiming that the forest they are in is the place where the Devil landed when he fell from Heaven, and the hole they dig (only about five feet deep) represents a spiritual transition into five layers of Hell. This ensures that the children never have to leave their campsite in the forest and maintains a level of skepticism for the viewer.

Upon entering the forest, the children pass under an archway naturally formed from a bent tree. This represents the first “gate.” It is perhaps a coincidence that the tree looks like an entryway, but the number of coincidences throughout the story will build up providing evidence that the Hell they enter is real. It’s also no ordinary forest, it’s a suicide forest. Thus blurring the divide between the dead and the living.

They begin with a ritual to protect themselves from whatever they might encounter before they descend. It involves symbols from various religions, and the prayer that they chant is clearly made up and comes from none of the religions they are appealing to. This is an important detail because it maintains the illusion that what they are doing is make-believe, and yet it still seems to have an effect. It especially has an effect on young Nathan who chants the prayer as faithfully as that of any real-world religion.

After about a foot of digging, Nathan announces that they are in the first level. Oralee points to a squirrel, a very real creature, and claims that the squirrel is a demon in disguise. The squirrel in question is a stop-motion puppet. This is jarring to the viewer because everything else in the film lies in the realm of realism. It makes us wonder if the squirrel appears as “off” to the children as it does to the viewer. It is the first instance in which we wonder if their journey is not so make-believe after all.

Upon entering the second layer, Nathan begins seeing black figures behind the trees. The boy has been having nightmares, and it is a well-known phenomenon that people with sleep deprivation will experience hallucinations, particularly shadowy figures from the corner of the eye. Are these figures a result of Nathan's paranoia induced sleep deprivation, or are they demons?

In the third layer, there is a scene where Nathan spots a man and a woman on a canoe at night. The man is canoeing and the woman sits hunched over and naked. This scene can be interpreted two different ways. The man is a kidnapper and the woman is his victim; Or, is the man actually the ferryman, and the woman is a soul being ferried across the river Styx? It conjures up a parallel between sexual and religious experiences. Is this scene symbolic or literal? Perhaps the scene is both.

In the fourth layer they encounter Cerberus. Surely we will know if this is all real upon seeing a three headed dog; but inconveniently, the viewer is only shown a dragging chain. They also wander upon two men, which freaks Oralee out so much, she insists they end their journey short. She grabs her brother and a few things from their campsite, and flees. After some time, Oralee is perplexed to find that they have ended up at their own campsite again. Did she simply get turned around in her panic; or is Hell keeping them in that forest, and they are only able to leave by the same path they came in?

In the fifth layer the children face their final trial. They are kidnapped by the two men. The men are clearly demons. They are filthy, sexually perverse, and violent. One even sports antlers on his head that resemble horns. What's more, is they don’t speak the same language as the children. This further alienates the children from the world they came from, making them feel like they are in an entirely new world.

The final layer is the center of Hell, and so the children must pass through the fire of Satan, represented by an oven shaped in the figure of Baphomet. Nathan passes through triumphant, but Oralee is now questioning her entire reality. She is finally convinced that Nathan’s delusion is real. Nathan, covered in soot, mow looks like the very demons they have been so afraid of. She has been extremely loving towards her brother up to this point, but will her fear take over and end up getting Nathan killed?

This is an example of how far delusions can go. They can turn a skeptic into a believer. They can turn innocent children into murderers. Can they even convince a healthy person that they are about to die?

The film poses this question to the viewer once again along with an anecdote: There is an Australian Aboriginal tribe called the Arrente who execute their condemned by sending the executioner to point a bone at them. This is called bone pointing, and it is all that is needed for the condemned to be “cursed” and eventually die.

This anecdote ties the whole film together. We recall moments where Nathan looks directly at the camera. Something actors rarely do, if never. We recall the gun at the very end, pointing at the camera, and of course, the face of Astaroth.

Although one would have to have lived in the Arrente tribe their entire life in order for the psychosomatic self-willed death to work, even to an avid horror fan, the implications are unsettling. It makes me wonder how someone who truly believes in demons would respond after watching Antrum: The Deadliest Film Ever Made.       -AD

Refusant d'accepter que sa chienne Maxine brûle désormais dans les fosses de l'enfer, le jeune Nathan est constamment tourmenté par des cauchemars et des visions infernales. Pour apaiser ses souffrances, sa grande sœur Oralee l'emmène dans les bois pour trouver l'endroit légendaire où Lucifer lui-même est tombé sur Terre lorsqu'il a été chassé du Ciel.

La lourdeur avec laquelle l’introduction et la conclusion du film insistent sur sa supposée malédiction ne doit pas vous décourager : l’originalité de sa réalisation et son exploration du thème du deuil auront tôt fait de retenir votre attention. Pour ma part, j’ai vraiment subi la médiocrité du doublage francophone auquel j'ai eu accès sur PrimeVideo. Les défauts des effets de montage sont vite rééquilibrés par de belles références au cinéma de Méliès et de Lynch, l’inventivité de certains ressorts scénaristiques, l’utilisation de techniques rares (stop-motion, images subliminales) et par sa narration.

Le deuxième acte enchaîne de bons coups de pression et sa soudaine montée en tension est totalement contrôlée. Le dernier acte nous achève en divisant les points de vue pour un seul final que je préfère vous laisser découvrir.

She doesn't like feeling like a burden which is something she feels like she is since she feels as if it's her fault that her mother died, leaving Lucifer stuck to raise her alone. This guilt weighs heavily on her.

She is very friendly though she doesn't take kindly to bullies or hateful people. Like most teenagers, she can and will act out, slashing out when angry or upset.

BIOGRAPHY

Sofía was a result of a one-night stand. Her mother contacted Lucifer upon finding out about the pregnancy with the plan to co-parent their child once she was born. Tragically, her mother died during birth. Faced with the reality of having to raise a little baby girl on his own, Lucifer named Sofía after her mother to honour her memory.

Lucifer did his best to keep Sofía out of the public eye as he wanted to give her a normal life as possible. She attended school, learned to use her powers and fight in her free time and eventually, she went on to graduate high school early.

She's currently taking several classes at Havard, living on campus part-time.

Celestial Sails

Friday, September 8 from 1 to 4 pm

Explore star patterns that sailors have used for millenniums to navigate the seas. Visitors are invited to drop by throughout the afternoon to create celestial patterns on large canvas reminiscent of the original schooner sails. We will be exploring star constellations and painting on raw canvas.

Supplies

Raw canvas cut into triangles the same dimension of a traditional schooner sail.

Acrylic paint red, blue, black

water containers for paint mixing

dish soap

large brushes

white acrylic paint

small brushes

templates of 3 sizes of stars

Descriptions

Each attendant will be provided with a large triangular raw piece of canvas.

They will chose which zodiac star pattern they would like to use.

with a pencil they will sketch where the star pattern on the canvas

Using the star stencils, participants will use white paint to put the stars on the canvas. Be sure to use the 3 different sizes of stars to accurately depict the celestial configuration. Be sure to apply the white paint thick.

Participants will have to wait for the white paint to dry.

We will mix containers of watered down acrylic paint in dark blue, dark purple and black. Be sure to add a drop of dishwashing soap to the paint so that it will soak into the raw canvas.

Using a large brush, carefully paint the entire canvas like the dark sky.

While sill wet you may have to bolt the dark paint off of the white stars.

Wait for the canvas to dry.

Oralee Starbreaker.

Oralee Starbreaker is a commander of the Illuminant Space Force on the planet Arcanea, the home planet of the Illuminant race. Known as the hero of the Illuminant race, Oralee Starbreaker is also a good friend of many in the Starlight Brigade and has bridged the two space programs together, the Illuminant Space Force opening up to help the Starlight Brigade to help fight the Void whenever they need help.
