2. They cast a white boy who probably isn’t even Italian but no one cares because Nico is white with black hair and “looks Italian”

I’m not saying that Nico being Italian isn’t important in some aspects, but most of you will not actually care. Just like how white people don’t care if the live action casting of Rapunzel is German, only that’s she’s blond and white. Yall will whine and cry about Nico being Italian, but I promise if he is casted as white most fans won’t bother checking to see if the actor is Italian or not.

Does anyone ever feel like they have to be a scholar to get taken seriously? Like the further I get into the Jewish community and the more I try to sometimes gently have conversations with people I know about antisemitism and various things that seriously impact the community I feel like I have to have scholarly levels of knowledge to get taken seriously at times. Like the fact that I don’t have scholarly articles sitting off the top of my head that I can site to people somehow makes my points less valid. I mean ideally I’d love to have that sort of knowledge, I’ve definitely considered going to rabbinical school or a yeshiva after I’ve finished converting and have been Jewish for a little bit. However, for the time being that isn’t realistic for me, nor is it all that realistic for your average Jew to be a scholar thoroughly versed in every little bit of Jewish culture, history, and practice.

I will add the caveat these conversations are almost never with complete strangers, they are with classmates or with friends. Like someone will say something ignorant or I will be ranting to a friend about some of my personal frustrations. But even then I’ve had people not take me seriously at times. Like. This isn’t stuff I’m making up for fun. I get not taking people 100% at face value all the time but come on guys. Do I really have to start citing sources to get taken seriously?
