We've talked about the special relationship between mutuals who don't interact but have we talked about the special relationship with big balled mutuals who post insanely long posts that I don't want to reblog because I am too chicken shit to destroy my blog with that...

I have some slightly controversial take about Sam Wilson fandom here, so maybe don’t reblog this post... Comment if you want, but I really don’t want to start arguing with anyone. I just need to vent and will probably delete the whole rant later.
So...
I know that Sam’s fans complain a lot about the treatment he gets in the fandom... I still do that from time to time and I probably will continue doing it in the future. But I’m starting to feel very, very tired with the people who act like their love for Sam can only be expressed through:
1) criticizing other people’s content,
2) hatered/dislike for Bucky or Sambucky,
3) complaining about other people in the fandom.
It’s so weird. We criticize the people who make Bucky-centric content with barely any mention of Sam and tag it with his name, because it’s annoying, but at the same time there is quite a big number of fans, whose posts in Sam Wilson tag are basically:
“omg he never gets recognition”, “MCU fandom hates Sam”, “Everything is about Bucky, where is Sam?!” “some of you only like sam when he’s with bucky :/”
And... sure. There’s a lot of truth to these statements. But saying that over and over again won’t fix the problem, especially if you yourself don’t do ANYTHING to remedy the situation. You’re flooding the tag too... Just in a different way. A few months ago I had this habit that I liked to follow people who wrote posts like these. Because I had this assumption that: if you complain about Sam being treated badly you probably love him a lot, so we should get along. I love him too!
But I realized that a lot of those people literally complain for the sake of complaining and than don’t even try to post Sam-centric content on their own. Why not??? You don’t have to be an amazing creator to make a good post. It’s not just about realistic fanart and 30k words fanfic with a complicated plot. You might write some weird HCs about Sam instead. Or a joke. Incorrect quotes. Ideas for fics you’ll never finish, but might inspire other people. Doodles that took 2 minutes of drawing. Edited photos. Favourite screenshots. Prompts. Learn to make poor-quality gifs of Sam’s cool fightigh style. Write a short scene analysis. Or ask other people how they analyse some scenes to start a discussion. Link some edits from YouTube.
And if you cannot think of a single thing to make on your own? Well. You can always promote art made by other people. Go through the tag and reblog things you loved. Find a good blog and search throught their archives to find older content. You can compile a post with fic recommendations so other people read what you enjoyed and see how good the content about Sam might be. Or recommend your favourite creators in general. Send encouraging asks to artists who you love so they feel motivated.
--- ----- ---
But these people do none of that. I can scroll throught their blog for 10 minutes and everything about Sam Wilson I see is complaining that people like Bucky more. Or that Sambucky is popular. (As if all the best Sambucky stories aren’t just fans expressing their love towards Sam through Bucky’s eyes...) I’m not trying to say that you have to be a creator to criticize the fandom, but it’s weird when you only yell at others for not posting enough about Sam when you didn’t post anything about him either unless it’s complaining. Kind of ironic...
Also! If you don’t promote other people’s content they get discoraged from posting. It’s a fact. I have probably over 80 different half-made and finished drawings with Sam Wilson on my tablet, but I have zero incentive to post any of them, because every attempt in the past ended with these posts getting 4 notes. Or 10 at best. So why bother? I can look at them alone. And I don’t remember these people who complained about the lack of Sam content supporting my Sam-centric art with nice comments.
You cannot expect the fandom to mass-produce content for you if you don’t encourage it. I got no feedback, so now I just sort of... write or draw for myself, because I enjoy it and have no incentive to publish any of that when no one’s interested. Instead I just make writing prompts or analysis of tfatws, because there’s a bigger chance I’ll have an interesting disussion with other fans in the comments or I’ll inspire other creators to make more art by posting that. I enjoy both of those things very much, but one evokes a reaction I want and the other just... doesn’t. (It’s not even about validation... even if it’s nice to get compliments. It’s just: “when other people are clearly not interested, why make the art public at all?”.)
--- ----- ---
Like I said. I’m not going to call out any specific person here. But there were a few people who harshly criticized me in asks or in private messages for “pretending to love Sam” just because I like Sambucky too. But if you scroll through my blog you’ll find that at least 95% of the posts are about Sam. And if you scroll through theirs it’s 3 posts - all of them about fandom not loving Sam enough. (I just checked.)
But I guess I’m a “disgrace to the fandom”, because I acknowledge that Sam might have a love interest while you said you hate Bucky, so... Apparently your love for Sam Wilson is more real if you despise more popular characters he interacts with. ...Be honest with yourselves. Some of you just like to whine and complain, but prefer to disguise it behind love for Sam, so it sounds justified.
And yes. There should be more content that is only about Sam. Or about Sam’s non-romantic relationships. Sure. But if my two choices are: “get a Sambucky fic about Bucky loving Sam very much” or “get a post where someone cries about Sam not being loved enough for the 10th time”... then pardon me for preferring the first option.
If any of you spent half the energy you waste on complaining on making a single post about your supposed love for Sam the tag would be much more full of good content. But it seems like making actual content requires more effort and talent, so you just stay there whining that other people don’t provide you with what you want and demand. And give zero encouragement and promotion to those who do the work.
So continue doing that if you wish. But I won’t waste all my energy on making my weekly “this fandom fucking sucks” post. I prefer promoting cool art other users made (now or years ago) and creating my own posts that might not be always 100% about only Sam... but are still focused on him. Because I like this fictional little guy. I’m not going to let this weird purity tests ruin my enjoyment. If the pretty drawing of Sam has Bucky on the other side of the canvas I still have a cool drawing of Sam to admire. So it’s a win for me.
--- ----- ---
[Reminder: please don’t reblog this. I really just need to vent. Comments are okay, I can discuss this. I just don’t want some peope to see that and go yell at me all over again. I was already harassed for allowing Bucky or Steve on my mostly Sam-Wilson-centric blog...]
[Also... if you think this is hypocritical of me to complain about complaining... Maybe. I don’t think it’s comparable here, but whatever.]

after i posted that reblog & was washing dishes it was like, oh no, there was what now feels like an obvious neon point to make that i sure did not, so here i go also just giving it its own post
basically just that, in the context of this “do other people think winston is Smart, do they think he is ‘smart’ in a way that is considered an intinsic positive quality attributed to that person rather than like, well this external result i guess indicates the mechanics of your brain are good enough to produce this but it’s hardly a positive for you as a person, b/c you’re probably worse at being a person for the fact all your stats go into running endless arithmatic in there, on that note do they think he is definitively Not smart outside the [external results] of math aptitude, has winston internalized anything from this assessment & according treatment by others” that point of winston so often being right about things outside of stuff to do with math / otherwise directly quant related matters sure seems to indicate he’s not Just Good / Smart At Math, but having to compile a post about instances he’s had these valuable / accurate contributions to make was sure motivated in part by these instances not necessarily being obvious, b/c in the show when he says “off topic” things / isn’t just sticking to the quant stuff people are mostly just trying to get him to shut up / even as he’s saying this Correct, Useful stuff people are just like, revving up the disdain b/c he’s talking / acting wrong & annoying. the Extrinsic quality of his social approach making the inferred Intrinsic quality that winston’s clueless/useless or whatever & thus so’s whatever he’s actually saying, it’s wrong & it would’ve been better if he hadn’t said anything at all
plus it only kind of backs things up that i don’t think like, for viewers it’s meant to be completely obvious that winston is out here like, being insightful & perceptive & generally paying attention to everything on his own & keeping up with all of it & being attentive to / right about social elements of goings on, w/his ideas about what other people are like & what their feelings & motivations might be & how that might be playing into / relevant to various situations....a particularly clear & relevant example being his 4x11 admonishlogue, which was naturally a subjective spontaneous spiel while he’s worked up & irritated rather than like, yes this is the objective 1000% accurate rundown of the situation, but it was right enough for taylor to have listened & then we get their 4x12 conscious course correction / them acknowledging They Were Wrong & Are Sorry, & if you’re not a billions viewer failing to realize axe & taylor have these parallel plot threads in 4x11 & that taylor’s speech in 4x12 wasn’t out of nowhere, about & inspired by nothing, with no context, the implication is that taylor recognized winston made some points / was influenced thusly......but also, [all the billions viewers who didn’t get that at all] is kind of relevant here b/c you Can just suppose that automatically everything winston says is wrong & useless, & furthermore the 4x11 scene “resolves” with mafee jumping in & saying as much & just taking the Pwning A Nerd route to shout someone down into dropping the point, as always mafee doesn’t really argue with any of the actual things winston was saying, but if you’re operating with the understanding that the Axe Cap Approach of bullying less epic winner guys into shutting up is the extrinsic behavior that indicates any & all intrinsic positive qualities, aka they’re just Always Right b/c they’re the cool guys, & annoying insecure math nerds like winston are always wrong, well then
which is then also relevant to how winston of course wouldn’t / couldn’t fit in at axe cap but Can work for taylor.......thinking of how, you know, there’s these characters who are regarded as Extra Smart who also have to be perceived by other characters & viewers as having these extrinsic qualities that Intuitively indicate / prove their intrinsic smartness, i.e. / e.g. how, say, taylor has to “seem” smart pretty much immediately, to a character like axe (who can also have these moments of, without external successful results that would “prove” anything, will just be “evidently” smart in what he does/says in an exchange & how he does it), because their other extrinsic qualities would seem “wrong,” & thus what people might infer about their intrinsic qualities based on that would be negative, but axe can recognize their smartness & prioritize it over them being The Tough Guy / having successfully bullied their coworkers (or co interns) until they had some superior position because of that or the other stuff that’s supposedly the Right way to do things that proves you’re a Winner in any / every way....but, while at axe cap / dealing with now coworkers (or now subordinates) or other people in the business, taylor still had to navigate those situations even with axe’s conferred protection / approval / blessing, requiring having to consciously adopt certain extrinsic / external approaches b/c they know it’s the only way to get people to listen or take them seriously (on top of how already the approach they had re: interpersonal / social exchanges & presenting themself was titrated in the hopes of people taking them seriously / inferring helpful/positive things about them)
and then when it comes to tmc / taylor for real having the final word / ultimate authority on everything, they don’t want their employees to Have to put on the same kinds of performances they sometimes did, and they sure don’t want their employees to have to act like what was the norm at axe cap re: cool tough guy winners being terrible to everyone as a way to prove your worth, and they sure are not going to Make or even encourage anyone to do any of that. and even if any intrinsic smartness(tm) of winston’s doesn’t extrinsically manifest in the way axe cappers, or even mase cappers, think that it could/would/should, taylor’s more concerned with his intrinsic talent than extrinsic demeanor, and even if they’re suggesting these are at odds, they aren’t quite 100% directly connecting them, i.e. they’re not saying “well, your demeanor means you’re a dumbass but you’re still smart somehow,” the issue is just that he was too grating & rude to them in 3x03 (& beyond that is still Not sweet / “being a dick”) which is now, in some notable contrast with what they said in 3x03, being considered as this separate matter rather than “of course you can’t work for me b/c you hate yourself too much to Really be effective,” now it’s like, well yeah you were annoying but also you’re still skilled enough to consider....and by kompenso they obviously think he’s actually worth hiring, b/c there he is, hired, & kept on, & brought to tmc at axe cap, & still here (with him only Apparently being on thin ice when taylor has given enough control of mase carb to wendy that they no longer exactly have the final word / ultimate authority (and even if they kinda do, they don’t just wanna immediately / completely take advantage of that))
but naturally what really counts even beyond this is that, besides being the person who of course hired winston in the first place / wants him around b/c he’s good at math, taylor also just actually also always listens to & genuinely considers what winston says and, as seen in 4x11 to 4x12 for one, can actually change their mind / reevaluate a situation / decide they might’ve been wrong because of what he’s said, on top of instances like 5x03 where they’re also listening to him like, yeah he’s talking about math, but he’s Also contributing some personal, qualitative leaning insight, thanks to admitting that, you know, This’ll Be The First Live Test, he’s not saying “well yeah the numbers totally back us up” but he’s still saying that he himself thinks they can do it, and they do it.......so yeah the point is taylor must of course think he’s Smart At Math but they must also consider / (realize) that he’s also smart at other shit / just in general and, even if other characters / viewers might think that the way winston behaves / seems he must Not be smart, taylor is always listening to him & is definitely not instantly writing it off / interpreting it as outright Wrong / simply experiencing radio static ft. “ugh hate that this guy has to be so annoying” as soon as he speaks....so shoutout to taylor for that, and maybe there’s a parallel in how, their first time around at axe cap, taylor could sort of avoid axe cappers giving them as much shit as they might’ve b/c they had some protection from axe, the top shit giver, and here’s winston able to be treated as smart & valuable despite the fact other people wouldn’t see him that way b/c taylor, the smart value detector,  wants him here
but you know, Not shoutout to the fact that taylor’s kind of the exception in reliably listening to Everything winston might have to say / taking him seriously & realizing that he has good contributions besides Just strictly in the quant realm, and that for the most part characters (and viewers) are kind of just automatically like boooo everything winston says is dumb and wrong and we hate him.....while, you know, the whole time he’s so often “secretly” Right about plenty of things, as long as there’s anyone actually listening and not just automatically writing him off as The Guy Who’s Wrong About Everything But Numbers
(feels relevant enough to put in the text as a postscript here: Of Note the way that axe cappers react to winston in s5, the weird contradictory 5x01 quantphobia like “they’re smarter than us and better at us. at math ig, but i guess also in general. and this is an own i guess” and “also they’re not better than us at math even or whatever,” and then dollar bill’s apparently assuming some quant would just guaranteed be able to make him money, but he’s also stomping in with no real leverage and so you’ve just got him pitting his usual bluster and bravado “this means i’m intrinsically a winner” approach against winston, whose social approach means he’s a dumb wrong nerd, but also please do your good math for me, and you know, it doesn’t really work out for bill and was just a waste of everyone’s time, kind of a failure of bill’s not only to convert his Winner Axe Cap Behavior directly into making money / succeeding but trying to do so by actually getting the math guy to do the valuable shit for him....and then they kind of all forget he exists which is very fine by me b/c you know, winston can’t really just exist in the general axe cap scape and ideally taylor should always be in the group he’s in, although it also helps if rian’s someone who just listens to him normally / hadn’t immediately judged his extrinsic / intrinsic qualities negatively (she is))

for the fanfiction virgin (part one, the basics)
Hello, young one. Welcome to one of the most integral parts of fandom, the weird, wonderful, often terrifying world of fanfiction (also called fics, fanfic, ff, etc., etc.). Perhaps you are unhappy with the way your favorite book/tv show/movie turned out, perhaps you loved it so much you want more and you want it right now. Perhaps you aren’t a fanfiction virgin at all and are just reading this for the nostalgia. Either way, let’s get started.
SITES
The main three websites you will use will be the following:
1. Archive of Our Own (AO3 if you’re in the know, which you will be after reading this post). This is the “cool” website, newer and more efficient that either of the other two sites I will list here. AO3 is easy to use, chock-full of content, and most importantly, the homeland of most of the weirdest shit out there. One of the benefits of this site is that you can easily find things without a link from another person, and can easily discover new fics on your own.
2. Fanfiction.net (also called ff.net). This site is more vintage than AO3, and is a son of a bitch to navigate. However, ff.net is useful because about three quarters of the fanfiction classics (to be mentioned later) are posted here. Often, you will end up reading fics on these by going through a fic rec blog (also to be mentioned later). Fanfiction.net often has older, longer fics than AO3.
3. Right here on tumblr! Many of the lovely people of tumblr post their fics straight to their blogs. Tumblr fics are often short, prompt-based, and cross-posted on another site.
There are other fanfiction sites, such as livejournal (super vintage) and other fandom-by-fandom sites. These I will not go into great detail about because a) there are too many to name, and b) most of them are so old that they either don’t work anymore or don’t have any fics less than ten years old on them. These are mainly found in the Harry Potter fandom, mostly because the HP fandom is the oldest and largest major fandom.
TERMINOLOGY
One shot: a story that is one chapter. This works the same way for two-shots and three-shots.
Multi-chap: a story that is multiple chapters. Not complicated, folks.
Smut: a story that is *not for the eyes of children*. If you are new at this, chances are you are under the age of fourteen and should stay away from any story tagged smut. See below for rating.
Rating: how a story is rated, much like with movies
- G, K, K+: General Audiences. Probably safe for anyone to read. Movie equivalent of G or PG.
-T: Teen and Up Audiences: Usually includes kissing, mild language and violence. Also often includes “fade to black” scenes in regards to sex. Chances are, if you made it through the book or movie, you’ll be okay.
-M: Mature Audiences. 90% OF THESE FICS ARE RATED FOR SEX. Be warned. The other ten percent have hard language and/or gory violence.
-E: Explicit. 100% OF THESE FICS ARE RATED FOR GRAPHIC SEX. There will be dicks in these stories. Do not say I didn’t warn you. This. Is. Porn.
Note that the ratings for fics are determined by the author, and their idea of a mature story might be different than yours. If you are a person who is sensitive about coarse language, stick to the G rated stuff, as even T rated fics usually contain strong language. Tumblr fics do not usually have a rating.
OC: this is an original character. Rarely do you find a good one.
OOC: out of character, which means the author completely decided to ignore how an actual character looks/acts/is named. OOC characters are essentially OCs that have a slim basis in an actual story.
Canon: the actual work that the fandom is based on. For example, the canon for the HP fandom is the book series Harry Potter. This is a useful term in distinguishing what actually happened vs what fanfic writers made up.
Headcanon: otherwise known as a fan theory. Usually little blurbs that are not explicitly mentioned in canon but there is no reason that they can’t be true. Some headcanons have become so normalized that the fandom accepts them as canon. Example, people were saying Dumbledore was gay long before JK Rowling confirmed it.
Crossover: Fanfiction written as a part of two different fandoms. Enough said.
Ship: the basis of fandom. A pairing of two characters that people really really really want to get together. A major portion of fanfiction is dedicated to gay ships both possible and impossible. Gay ships are the foundation of any fandom. That isn’t to say you can’t find straight fanfiction, just that you might have to look harder for the good stuff.
Fluff: tooth-rotting, sweet, I-love-you-honeybear, fanfiction. I can’t write it, I can’t read it, but most people like it. I am just mean.
Angst: the anti-fluff. As you may have guessed, depression, job loss, sexual confusion and violence are all usually par for the course when it comes to angst. I love it. I love it so much.
Classic: a fanfiction that has been around in a fandom for so long that it is basically required reading. People will judge you if you haven’t read the classics of your ship. Sometimes there are fanfictions of the classic fanfictions. So, you, fanfiction virgin, need to start there.
And finally:
AU: alternate universe fanfiction. We’ll talk later about the many different types of AU, mostly because AUs are where things start to get weird.
FANFICTION ETTIQUETTE
1. This is the most important rule of fanfiction: if you like a fic, let the author know. On AO3, the easiest way to do this is by leaving kudos. The kudos button is located at the end of a fic or chapter, and you don’t even need to have an account to leave them. On both AO3 and ff.net, comments/reviews can be left. These are even better than kudos and make an author’s day. On tumblr, like and reblog. Doing these things is so important, because it helps an author’s work get read.
2. Sigh. This is going to sound so mean.
If you are new, please don’t start writing just yet. Chances are, you don’t know what the hell you are doing. Read, see how fanfiction writing works, and then you can start writing. It’s different than writing a paper for your English class. If you have an idea, write it down and revisit it later, or write and don’t post just yet. Also, I’m going to do a little self promo for part 3.
3. Don’t correct people’s grammar in the comments. Yeah, their grammar sucks, but no one needs to hear you bitching about it.
CONCLUSIONS
This is where I’m going to end part one, because I have realized that the AU section is going to be long enough to warrant its own post.
Also, if you are not new to fanfiction and are just reading this for the nostalgia, reblog this post along with a fanfiction that is considered a classic in your fandom. Include fandom name and title (and link, if you have one). Help the newbies out! If we get enough I may just find the energy to compile a list later on. We’ll see.

Anon said:SHINSOU KAMI AND KIRI ARE THE MOST PRECIOUST BOYS WHO WE MUST PROTECT
None of these strong amazing boys actually needs protecting but is that gonna stop me from trying? Is it?? (the answer is no)
Anon said:Hi! If you haven't already answered this, would you mind listing the tags/ships you aren't comfortable with people tagging your art with?
Ohhhhhh what an interesting ask, I’ve been thinking about how to answer since I got it and?? I’m not sure, so let’s put it like this: generally, if the art is obviously meant as platonic I’d prefer it if you didn’t use the ship tag on it, but as a general rule I don’t actually mind people tagging ships anyway? I know how this site works so if I’m really uncomfortable with the idea of it being misinterpreted as romantic I’m just not gonna post anything with those characters in it from the start
That said, sometimes people tagging ships confuses me a lot??? For example the majority of people who’ve reblogged my latest bnha comic have tagged it with the bkdk tag and? There’s nothing romantic about it?? Bakugou is literally off to kill Deku why is that romantic we just don’t know, bkdk shippers seem to have an understanding of romance completely different from mine haha
Ah, also I’ve been having people tagging my bokuro and akaken arts with the ot4 tag, even if I rarely ever draw all of them in the same place. Please don’t do that. Like. Seriously.
As for the general tags, there’s a lot of tags I don’t understand, but from there to saying I’m uncomfortable with them is a bit of a huge step... the one thing that comes to mind is people trigger-tagging Bakugou’s mom. That’s. Hm. I happen to really like that woman and my drawings depict her in a positive light always, so if people could stop that it would be very nice? That’s about it tho~
Anon said: Bakugou smiling omg bless your soul
!!!!!!!!!!!!! Smiling Bakugou is a happy Bakugou and happy Bakugou is a happy Fran so you can 100% expect more of it 👍👍
Anon said:I'm rooting for Kacchan as his hero name. I feel like it would be a huge step personality wise for Katsuki, just like 'Deku' was for Izuku. I feel like they might become civil with each other and hopefully even friends. For Shouto it would be amazing if he could find a name that shows he's accepted who he is but that he isn't a prisoner of his blood...... even though I have no idea how to show that with a name lol
Ah, I’m sure in the future Bakugou and Izuku will be on civil terms, but here’s the thing anon. Deku was a name with a negative connotation given to Izuku the degrade him - someone Izuku holds dear changed the meaning for him, made it something positive, and Izuku took the name back and made it his own, like a phoenix reborn from its ashes. It was a positive thing because it used to be a negative one, you follow me? It also didn’t have anything to do with Bakugou. Izuku took that name away from him, he didn’t accept Deku as a name to show some sort of positive change in his relationship with Bakugou, it was more about him cutting Bakugou of a source of power he had over him. It was distancing himself from Bakugou, not growing closer
Kacchan doesn’t have anything like that tied to it, it’s just a childish name Izuku has been using since he was four, most probably because everyone used to call Bakugou that - Bakugou doesn’t actually care for the name, or else he would have found a way to make Izuku stop using it. He doesn’t like it, but he doesn’t actively dislike it either, he just does not care, right? So there’s no way him accepting it as the way the whole world knows him as would be some sort of positive change for him, imho
What I meant when I said that I really hope it doesn’t happen is that all it would be for Bakugou is just yet another smack on the growing list of things gone wrong for him - there’s no way Bakugou would willingly accept such a childish name as his hero name just for the hell of it, one thing is growing up and a whole other thing is him making a 180° on his personality like that. So, like, I really don’t want it to happen because I want Bakugou for once to have things go as he wishes, but considering the amount of times the narrative has punished Bakugou and how often his plans have gone on the opposite direction compared to what he was working for, would I be surprised if that choice too were to be taken from him? Absolutely not
As for Todoroki, as I said I have never spent time thinking about his hero name? I kind of assumed he actually wanted to be known as Shouto, but you really never know with him! His character is always going in directions I don’t expect one bit, so his hero name too, if it comes, is probably gonna be something I hadn’t seen coming at all haha
Anon said:THE TAGS ON THAT LAST BAKUSHIMA KILLED ME THATS SO SWEET AND IT ALSO MADE SENSE AND I LOVE THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE THING THANK YOU FOR BLESSING ME WITH THAT YOU AND YOUR ART ARE INCREDIBLE I HOPE YOU'RE HAVING A LOVELY DAY
Anon said:I love your ring hc for that last post omg it's perfect
OHHHHHHHHHH I’M GLAD YOU BOTH LIKED IT!!!! I hope you’re having the best days too!!!!!!!
Anon said:dude, your art output is simply incredible, you post something pretty much every single day, and its not even just single pictures, its comics! with lots of poses! and anatomy! ahhh, bless you, youre a gift!!! A GIFT!!! your comics are adorable and funny and so in-character u
Thank you!!!!!!!!! So much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my gODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Annnnnndddddddddddddddddddd.............. actually............... I kind of............................. not do much aside from drawing................................. r i p
(The thing is that I draw to make myself feel happy when I’m sad. I’m. Always sad. So.)
Anon said: Fran why are people shipping Todoroki with Kaminari ? i mean the pics are nice but i was wondering if there was an interaction between them ?
They were on the same team during the cavalry battle! And!! That’s about it!!! Horikoshi has doodled them together now and again in his twitter sketches but as far as canon goes that should be the only significant interaction they’ve had. I don’t mind the ship? They could be cute, but I don’t exactly ship it. Then again I lowkey ship Todoroki with Sero so who am I to talk
Anon said:Ao3 dealing with a wildcard
I don’t!!! Understand this ask!!! Anon help me out please!!!
Anon said:BRO, that last comic with Bakugou's hero name is PRICELESS! I know you said you actually would prefer him to have a cool name, but could you imagine if this happened in cannon?! I would DIE of laughter! Or worse, imagine if Bakugou did end up with the hero name Ground Zero, but everyone in the public decides to call him Kacchan ANYWAYS, because it's adorable and if deku can call him that, then why shouldn't anyone else? XD I just can't!
Bakugou spending the rest of his life trying to make people use his actual hero name and failing miserably is the single most rational and canon comment I’ve gotten about that comic I’m not even gonna lie hahahaha
Anon said:As soon as I finished reading your Teacher!Bakugou post, I couldn't help but think of that meme/twitter compilation. The one where the teacher is going over safety procedures only for the students to show how much they love their teacher. Like, one student says they'll avenge Bakugou if he ends up getting hurt while another says they'll go after the perpetrator's kids. This idea is gold~!
The problem here is that I can’t really see Bakugou giving a straight “no you can’t do that” answer to those suggestions oh my god what a disaster lmao
Anon said:I just wanted to say that I love your terushimas and your bokuroos and especially your kiribakus (actually the hole bakusquad) and that I'd love to see tokoyami more in your art style (as he's my fav in bnha)

Support Tamberlane on Patreon!
Hey guys! Did you know that there are some AMAZING behind-the-scenes rewards you can get for supporting Tamberlane on Patreon? It's a great deal at any value, if I do say so myself!
Tumblr media
What is Patreon? Patreon, like Kickstarter, is a way to fund your favorite creator! Unlike Kickstarter, though, it's not limited to a single project but instead a (in my case) monthly commitment to support them with donations. In return, depending on the amount you donate, you get rewards!
And, if that wasn't cool enough, no matter what tier you donate at, you get all the perks of the tiers below yours as well!
For example, let me show you what you can get donating to the Tamberlane Patreon:
Tumblr media
For only $1 a month, you get access to comic updates over a week early! All $1 patrons are already three (3!) pages ahead of the public. When the comic goes on planning breaks, $1 patrons get to come back sooner! Plus, you get thanked publicly on my Twitter and your name is put on the Tamberlane website and any book you helped fund!
For only $5 a month, you get 5% off of all of my merch, including rad Tamberlane goods, from MyDreamyStar.com! You also get to see time-lapse videos before the public (when they're done in time to be released before the public), and you get to vote in polls!
Tumblr media
For only $10 a month, you get 10% off of all of my merch from MyDreamyStar.com! You also get to see EVERY SINGLE COMIC PAGE the same day it's made. There's no buffer for you! Just pure, unadulterated TAMBERLANE, injected straight into your brain-veins. The $10 patrons are currently 10 pages ahead of the public. It's like they're a secret club or something!!
In addition, $10 patrons get access to the behind-the-scenes WIP twitter! I post drawings, scripts, musings about the worldbuilding and characters, and all sorts of other things here that may not filter out to the public!
For only $25 a month, the price of a single dinner at Red Robin's for 2, you get to have your character (or you!) immortalized in the comic FOREVER! You get to become a resident of Treehollow and hang out in the town in the comic! Whenever I need a background cameo, I'll pull from the $25 list. The longer you support the Patreon, the more likely you are to come up again and again!
Tumblr media
Not only that, but every month you get a beautiful postcard in the mail with a truly awful specimen of a joke. I am told it's the highlight of my patrons' months!
For only $50 a month, your cameo gets to SPEAK in the comic! They may be around for a few panels or even a few pages depending on what situation I put them in! And just like with the $25 tier, the longer you pledge, the more likely your character is to show up again!
PLUS, you get a single-character sketch commission every single month!
And finally, for $100 a month, your cameo now gets to play a CRUCIAL ROLE in the comic! Everyone will know their name! People will have feelings about them! They will help to move the story along! Terra, for example, is a $100 Patreon cameo!
In addition, your 1-character sketch commission is actually a 2-character sketch commission every single month!
And finally, grab the popcorn: you get to come to the monthly MOVIE NIGHT where we watch fun animated movies together through Rabb.it and chat it up and hang out!
Tumblr media
So sign up today to support Tamberlane and get awesome rewards while helping out an independent creator!
If that's not enough to sway you, I'm LESS THAN $50 AWAY from reaching my Ask Blog goal, where once a month I'll sketch some answers to questions my Patrons ask the characters of Treehollow and upload them to this Tumblr! I'm really excited about that goal, and we're SO CLOSE!
If you can't donate through Patreon, or you just don't want to, that is totally fine! You know what the next best method of support is? Sharing! Share this post with your friends, reblog, talk up the comic, get more people to read it! Leave a nice comment! Draw some fanart(!!)!Hug an imaginary fluffbat! It all helps!
And if you're looking for other ways to support me monetarily, check out:
My Dreamy Star - get fun Tamberlane merch and other great things
Gumroad - download art tutorials, comics, and art compilations
Ko-Fi - buy me a cup of coffee
YouTube - watch my time-lapse videos
I think that's all the marketing I've got in me for today; thank you sincerely for reading this comic! I hope you all are enjoying it so far -- and I appreciate your support!

Writing advice - A compilation
To my post, I got so many lovely replies that I want to compile them all for other people -
@floralmotif
I generally keep writing to get through writing woes. I just saw @thevioletcaptain‘s reblog on this and I’d say it’s spot on. I’ve only seen theirs so far, but I’m sure others will have great responses too.
To add from my experience:
If you have ideas but don’t know what order to write them or are just experiencing a block: Get a bunch of index cards, write down everything you can think of. It could be dialogue, a cool fight scene, a character description, some prose you want included, anything. Then look at everything you have and start seeing if you can find an order to your ideas. If you find an order, look through again and see what works with what you’ve found. Take out the cards that don’t work and bundle them for later use. You may find you have more than one set of cards that’s got ideas attached, decide which one to focus on and file away the others for now. When you find some sort of order, fill in the blanks.
Arrange the cards however you think fits an interesting narrative that invokes emotion. If you want to experiment, move them around, fill in further blanks. You’ll probably start to see patterns and relationships emerge between the cards, use those to flesh out what’s missing, maybe rewrite some cards to fit that pattern, or maybe the patterns need changing or you find some things don’t fit. That’s fine, that’s what this process is for.
I use this for writing scripts all the time. I’ve done it for game dialogue, shorts, comics and currently a tv pilot. It works well in my experience and it lets you flesh out ideas visually without completely destroying them. I’ve found many a story this way and I usually keep several bundles of stories in my purse at once.
@mystic-majestic
I get stuck a lot with my writing, too. The best I can do is write. Write what you want and get a friend to beta it for you, so that there’s a fresh pair of eyes looking at your work. You’ll only ever be critical of what you do, and the more you stare at it the worse it seems to get. In reality, it’s probably not even that bad.
So even if you only write 100 words a day or maybe even in a week, just keep going. The motivation to write will hit you again only if you persist.
@spoopernaptime
knowing what bad writing is how you know you’re good :3
but nah i’m just gonna hop in and say part of being a creative is hating your own work. you’re always putting pressure on yourself to be better. it’s part of being an artist - and honestly, anyone who makes any sort of art can call themselves an artist. there’s no god of writing out there bestowing eternal damnation on your work; neither are there blessings of paradise upon the writers you read and consider good.
what i like to do is just throw any sense of my own mind out the window and just write something. i might be the first person in the history of the internet to write an SPN/Pingu crossover - for a prompt about vegetables. if you’re worried about your pacing and storytelling, try small odd exercises like that. focus on a specific something - a certain feeling, a joke, a single line, maybe something bizarre that’s only funny to you - and break it down. why is it funny? what is this line responding to? why is this specific emotion important? nail down the essence of that scene - and then, don’t even think about writing. imagine someone else is telling you this story at a party. what would they say? try reading things out loud to yourself. try summarizing what you want to write to yourself. honestly, my recommendation for a rut and hating everything is to just - throw a bouncy ball at a wall and see what happens, if you know what i mean. your creativity - the part that makes you write - will always be there. if you let it rot, it’ll just bubble up into some weird sick stew. so you do need to keep writing. flex a bit, stretch out your muscles, and try to find some kind of flow you can follow.
also? read. read, read, read. read something you loved when you were a kid and find the flaws. read a writer you don’t even like just to see what you don’t like about it. read a writer you love and break their work down to the nitty gritty.
i ain’t even one to talk; i’m currently terrified of my two big wips :) but hey, it’s a journey.
@frompersiawithlove
When I used to write fics for another fandom (where I was one of the only people writing - so, extra pressure!) I used to get like this and taking a break helped. When you get back you could also experiment to get the juices flowing, e.g., 2nd person
@osirisjones
