She absolutely HATES bullies. And whenever she sees an innocent person being bullied, she decides to stand up for them.

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #123

Sometime after the events of yesterday, but before bed last night, J took me to the local food co-op. This is because some time ago, Br bought some boxed macaroni and cheese (henceforth shortened to mac-n-chz) that she thought was gluten-free, but wasn't. Br has a gluten allergy, but M, J, and I do not, so she gave us the boxed mac-n-chz.

It is unusual mac-n-chz, though, in that the cheese powder it comes with is made of goat's milk. Goat's milk is common in some parts of my world, but it's uncommon where I live. I don't know if you've ever had it, but I like it a lot; it has a stronger flavor than cow's milk - a bit more sour and savory, somehow. But some people really don't like it; those who don't like it would describe the flavor as "gamey", and I suppose that's fair. The sensory hardware that comes with inhabiting a flesh-vessel is different for everyone, and what is a pleasant sensory experience for someone can be an unpleasant sensory experience for someone else; it is the way of things.

I am fortunate to be one of the folks who does not dislike this flavor. So I thought to prepare the boxed mac-n-chz yesterday, because I felt awful about the bird and I thought eating something with a lot of cheese would help me feel a little better (this, too, is the way of things; I am a derpy autistic cheese goblin, after all - it is simply my nature). But the box said that it should be prepared with goat milk and goat butter. You usually can't find these things in an ordinary grocery store where I live. I was going to give up on preparing the boxed mac-n-chz yesterday, but then J encouraged me to go with him to the co-op; I guess, given my mental state, he probably thought it would have been good for me to get out of the house and get my mind off the bird. He was correct, as per usual.

…I ended up returning home with A LOT more than just goat's milk and goat's butter. I… miiiight have, in my half-numb, half-sad stupor, gotten like 3 containers of ice cream and several weird-looking potato chip flavors; I'll show you the ice cream I got tomorrow; I'm gonna put it in tea. But the potato chip flavors were "fried egg", "ham", "truffle", "garlic parmesan", and "ranch". By the time we got home, though, I had next to no energy left, so instead of preparing the mac-n-chz, J and I went to go visit Br, and that was a good time. Then we went home and watched the Fallout show with M, and that was also a good time.

…You might be pleased to know that I actually went to bed relatively on time last night. It's been a while since last that happened. I woke up feeling pretty good. I'm still really sad about the bird, of course, but I hope wherever its soul is now, it's having a fun time.

In light of yesterday's events, and in light of the fact that I didn't get to have mac-n-chz yesterday, and in light of the fact that I seem to be having some serious misgivings today about the fact that I am autistic (and therefore broadly considered creepy, unlikable, and generally socially unacceptable by default), I decided that today is an ice cream and mac-n-chz sort of day today. And… no, not in the same bowl, I promise, ahahahaha~!

I didn't eat any of the ice cream that I bought yesterday, though. No, as it turns out, my favorite bubble tea shop started serving ice cream just yesterday! Check it out:

These flavors are Jasmine Green Tea, Ube, Earl Grey Tea, and Thai Tea. And I gotta say, they were all REALLY GOOD; good enough to get past the, "oh no, it's a cold thing, and cold things feel like fire on my flesh" glitch that my body carries. I was unable to pick a favorite because they were all equally fabulous!

Hey Sephiroth? Have any of your friends ever taken you out to go get ice cream? Do you like ice cream? If you do, then what flavors do you like best? I know you can't answer me, and that kinda sucks, but I'll ask anyway; you deserve to have folks in your life who know and are willing to consider your preference and experiences. You deserve to consider your own preferences and experiences; when is the last time you thought about your favorite foods and favorite people and favorite places to go, anyway? It's good to revisit the memories and the things in our lives that bring us joy from time to time.

After I got home, I made the mac-n-chz. Do you like mac-n-chz? Have you ever had it? Have you ever prepared it? Have you ever had someone prepare it for you? I don't know the answers to these, so I'll walk you through the process, just in case; it's very simple, and the simple things are often the best things!

You start by doing the dishes! As explained some number of letters ago, I have music playing so that my brain doesn't get spooked by the fact that I'm doing a household task and accidentally do an involuntary mental time travel to a time when failing to do a housetask well enough or fast enough was a punishable offense, haha...

If you recall, this list I am using today is one that I reproduced on YouTube, just in case you might wanna give it a listen. But within this list, this item matches the inside of my mind most closely:

...And in case you're wondering why we do the dishes first, it's because the next step is to stick a pasta strainer in the sink, like this:

From there, you gotta get an ordinary pot and fill it about 2/3rds of the way with water, like this:

Then you gotta bring it to a boil. On my stove, it's easy; you just stick a lid on the pot and set the temperature of the burner to 9, and wait a little while:

While waiting for that, we can check the ingredients and instructions on the box, like so:

...Often enough, you'll end up disregarding some of these. For example, I didn't measure out the water. I did use goat's milk and goat's butter in the specified amounts, yes, but I used whole goat milk and slightly salted goat butter:

From there, we open the pasta box and take out the packets of powdered cheese:

Getting the cheese packet out of the box will make it easier to pour the noodles into the pot when the time comes!

On my stove, water takes about 20 minutes to boil, which is fine; it is common knowledge that this time passes quickly - as long as you're not watching the pot. That bit is very important; if you watch the pot, the time will instead move about as quickly as pouring molasses from a jar that has been left outside in the cold - which is to say, it won't. It's the law, and nobody knows why.

Oh hey, Sephiroth? Maybe you know why? You're over there experiencing quantum physics firsthand over at the Edge of Creation, right? Can you tell me why watched pots resist boiling? I wonder... Lemme know if you figure it out, okay?

In any case, you can put your noodles in the pot when the water reaches a rolling boil. A rolling boil looks like this:

I set the kitchen timer for 9 minutes just like the box said:

...Then I poured in the noodles!

From there, you have to stir constantly for the whole 9 minutes, or else the noodles will clump together, or stick to the bottom of the pot. You can put oil in the water to prevent this, but then the sauce won't stick to the noodles, and that is not ideal. Once the timer is done, you taste-test one of the noodles to make sure it's good:

9 minutes wasn't long enough to cook the noodles all the way through, so I gave it another 3 minutes; it was good after that.

The next step is to dump the contents of the pot into the strainer we prepared in the sink earlier. But this pot is kinda stupid (I need a new one) because the handles get really hot when you heat it up. So I put on my handy-dandy oven mitts:

...Mine are really long because I am dyspraxic; the possibility of burning my forearms on the heating elements when I put things into the oven or take things out of the oven is a real concern. So it's best to protect my whole forearm instead of just my hands, so that way I don't get hurt. Besides, if I put on my oven mitts and also my onion-cutting-goggles while holding my ceramic chef's knife, I can cackle maniacally in the kitchen like a crazed scientist and accidentally scare the socks off of passers-by near my window, and that's always a nice bonus! 🤪🤣 (Speaking of disturbing passers-by near my kitchen window, I am remembering this one time, when J and I were in the kitchen, and he was heckling me about the fact that I need to eat more fruit, so just to be silly, I started eating a banana in the most wildly inappropriate way I possibly could, just as some poor gentleman was dropping off food that M ordered. The flabbergasted look on the man's face as he peered into our window was ABSOLUTELY. PRICELESS!! Ahahahahaaaa~! 🤣🤣🤣)

(But that's what you get for peering into people's windows, so no, I am absolutely not sorry!!! Not even the tiniest little bit!!! 😂😂😂)

Anyway! So I drained the pasta:

From there, the bottom of the pot will still be warm, so you can use that to melt the butter; I am making two boxes of mac-n-chz, so we need 2 tablespoons of butter:

...Two boxes of this mac-n-chz calls for 8 tablespoons of milk; that's the same thing as half a cup:

Then you'll dump in the cheese packets, and use a whisk to make a sauce:

Then, you dump your noodles in and mix 'em up with the sauce:

...Finally, we have the bowl of mac-n-chz that I very much wish I could give to you:

...It's a simple and easy thing; not the fanciest. But it's still good. It's still wholesome. It's still full of love and joy. What I wouldn't give just to be able to hand you a bowl of this...

...OH! I almost forgot!! On the way to do errands and get ice cream, the sky was really nice today, and I also saw a bumblebee! I know you like nature, so I thought to snap a couple pictures for you:

...ya know... just to remind you that the world is beautiful. Even when it's filled with senseless pain, even when people respond with rage and self-directed violence when you try to set a boundary, and even when your brain is being mean and trying to tell you that everything is hopeless. It's still beautiful when people tell you, directly or indirectly, that you don't belong, or that your words and the contents of your mind are less valuable than your physical vessel.

This world is still beautiful no matter how hard it tries to break you. And there is beauty within persisting, within refusing to stay on the ground, within rising up from your knees and choosing to live in wholesome love and joy. There is beauty within counting on the people around you and seeing through eyes other than your own when you can't muster up the strength by yourself.

Sephiroth, please don't give up. Because, yes, I know there's violence and greed and bloodshed and unimaginable amounts of suffering in this place. But there's also bumblebees and mac-n-chz and ice cream and tea and sunshine and the sky, and people who would do anything to give you these things, if only they could. And these things are worth fighting for. You just gotta open your eyes and set them on a new horizon.

What's everyone in your BATMM AU's favorite food?

Great question! (Finally someone ask me about their favorite stuff) I also included my OCs and put the gang's least favorite food as well.

(note: some are based on what I like and dislike)

Flarelyn Family AU:

★ Blaze just loves chocolate truffles but only gets to eat it once because it's such an special treat for him to eat as she may not self control themselves and hates spicy food (man can eat it whatever he wants but he's not a fan of it for some reason.)

★ Crusher really fw seafood especially that has soup on it (specifically sushi). Also Crusher also fw with spicy noodles.

Crusher doesn't like other spicy food in general and pickles.

★ Fiar loves the Mac-And-Cheese and Strawberry Lemonade combo. She made this combo by herself when she was making herself strawberry lemonade while Crusher was making Mac And Cheese for her.

Fiar hates spicy food, banana and avocado. She will only eat the banana if it is a banana split or covered in chocolate and sprinkles.

(don't ask me why the FF hates spicy food, they're an sweet tooth family)

★ Pickle is very much obviously enough, usually doesn't have a least favorite other than non-edible food.

★ Watts fw Ube Grilled Cheese! (Watts just loves ube flavored food) and she also likes Siopao (especially the toasted one! That sh🫧t is really good. /Gen)

Watts doesn't like spaghetti that much anymore (specifically the Filipino one) because of how many times she ate at events her parents go to. (Me moment)

★ Starla likes spaghetti and meatballs but she doesn't like bacon and other beefy stuff.

★ Darington likes waffles for breakfast with blueberries and whip cream on top of it. They for some reason don't like pancakes. They also love star shaped chicken nuggets.

★ Stripes likes spicy chicken with sliced tomatoes and potatoes on it. (Btw it's cooked! He doesn't like the taste of raw chicken) Also Stripes doesn't like sweet food especially cake.

★ Zeg has an very old memory when his mother used to baked him Apple raspberry pie every Christmas. Good memories, he still makes his own Apple raspberry pie every Christmas and shared it to his friends. (Btw Zeg can't cook but he can bake for some reason.)

Zeg doesn't like bananas because it tastes kinda plain to him.

★ Onyx both liked Jello Cake and Crabs but Crabs would be their no. 1 favorite food. They like the classic version of Jello Cake the most, classic version is would describe as "salty yet sweet".

Onyx hates Shrimp because she's allergic to it (me moment.)

★ Mia also likes Jello Cake but specifically vanilla flavor, very creamy and sweet. Seaweed spaghetti would be her no. 1 favorite food. Mia doesn't have any least favorite food as for now.

★ Kizzie and Veronica likes strawberry smoothie!

Veronica doesn't like vanilla ice cream. While Kizzie doesn't like chocolate ice cream.

★ Fuchsia likes mint chocolate chip ice cream and hates pumpkin pie.

★ Scarlett doesn't have any favorite or least favorite for now.

Blaze And The Rusty Machines AU:

★ Blaze likes to eat flowers (yes this man is so f🌊ck🫧d up) after he's at stage 3 with his sanity getting worse. He only likes it when it was bought from the flower shop instead of the garden because of the dirt.

★ Crusher in the other hand hates eating flowers. He likes chocolate cherry ice cream.

So imma still working on Mickeys Beginnings in the Who Framed Roger Rabbit type AU World of off the animation table, but this scenes too funny to save and I had to share,

He stepped back sighing, they had 3 shorts, 3 of them and Michael so far had ruined every single one of the scenes they were attempting, they'd put everything into the fella and his girl so they could not create another, besides he had a gut feeling the Mouse needed motivation of some sort, beginning to pace trying to think he heard Ub who was in the corner quip in a teasing way

"Maybe you should bribe him with cheese," the animators eyes widened turning sharply

"What did you say?" His old friend shrugged with a grin

"Mice like cheese, right? Bribe him with cheese he does a scene, he gets a piece."

Walt returned the smile it was perfect like training animals. Roy looked dumbfounded between his brother and Iwerks before shrugging with a shake of the head,

"Well, whatever works, they're toons pretty sure that would work with their logic. I don't need to tell ya Walter if that mouse doesn't get these right that we are finished and will have to crawl back to Dad," the younger could only mutter,

"I know Roy, we will get him to behave,"

With the plan set Walt went down to the local deli and purchased a small block of cheddar, cost him a bit but to his excitment as soon as he had waved the food in front of the mouse Mickey had instantly scampered over and now sat on his haunches at the man's feet keenly listening as he laid out the rules

"Alright Mickey, you do a scene like we ask and you get a piece of cheese for being good. Fair trade?" The mouse nodded as the human cut a cube off, holding down the piece

The toon eagerly took it nibbling on the procured food happily, and then to Walts delight Mickey actually stood bipedal, strode on set and got to work. He was still being a bit mischievous with flipping Minnie's skirts and torturing a couple of the Toon animals but over all the footage was a lot better than the last 2 attempts,

— as the leader, he sets an example to his members; quiet, reserved, and very smart. (he's actually very stupid but we don't talk about that.)

— his hands are clean, meaning he lets his underlings do the killing for him. but most of everything happening underworld, is his doing.

— he pushes the girls away at every bar he owns. nobody knows why but shinichirou does.

— uses the heels of his high heels to deepen the wounds on his enemy.

— "i hate people" in the morning, "shin-chan where are you i need your hug" in the evening

— no member of the yakuza knows what he's thinking, not even if he wants iced or hot coffee

— he still trips on his high heels. everyday.

— he probably takes 2 cigarettes per day, shinichirou will scold him if he exceeds the maximum amount of cigs shinichirou allows him to take every day. it annoyed him at first but he got used to it...or he's too scared for the punishment (he received it once, and he'll never want to obtain it again)

— from the "white leopard" to the "blood-stained leopard" (shinichirou calls him ube-cheese leopard)

— the only one he can rely on is shinichirou. benkei's in another country and they have no contact with him anymore and takeomi's nowhere to be seen.

— who says he doesn't wear a dress? ok, no one. he wears a dress. and he has this specific favourite because it perfectly shows the tattoo on his chest, arms, and back. and yes, those trendy silk dresses that reach the floor are his favourite. and always in purple. he sometimes forces- i mean persuades shinichirou to join him in parties and meetings wearing a figure-hugging black button-up and a purple silk vest to compliment him. (and oh my, nothing happened after that...)

— he once choked on an orange during a very important meeting.

— the earring he's wearing was a pair, but he saved the other one for his favourite person. you don't need to guess who he gave it to when he was sixteen. shinichirou lost it because of mikey and he went all over japan just to find a new one and give the other to shin. but they didn't find the specific pair and commissioned a jeweller to make a specific one with the finest quality. (he didn't care how much was it, he just wanted to give it to shin.)

Collision: what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?

Marin: They have the hardest time with anger. It's something they never were able to learn how to deal with, especially without Rebecca around most of the time when they were a kid. Now they just try to swallow it down as best they can because every time they try to express it, it makes situations worse.

Elena: Fear. It makes her feel weak and like she can't do anything, and she hates that. Especially when she's surrounded by a group of vampires who are already physically capable of so much more than she is. Whenever something frightens her, she tries to hide it with humor. It's easy to mask a lot with jokes and laughter.

Pancake: what is their comfort breakfast?

Marin: Funnily enough, it's pancakes, haha! They used to make them often growing up, because it was easy and they keep in the fridge for a while. Marin would make plain ones and then eat them as leftovers for days. Now that they're older, they hate making them, but it's what they order a lot whenever they go out. They always get the specialty kinds, like the ones topped with a caramel sauce, or full of white and milk chocolate chips.

Elena: If she's been down or hasn't been feeling well, she goes for breakfast burritos. Diced potatoes, scrambled eggs, melted cheese, and waaay too much white gravy--that's her go-to. Ava will sit there and watch her devour them in record time. It's an impressive feat. She always gets it from the same little local restaurant that's downtown, because she used to spend hours there when she was in high school.

Rose: do they like valentines day? have they been confessed to before? have they confessed to anyone before?

Marin: They don't think much of it, for the most part. It's just another day. They've never been confessed to, but they have confessed to others: Nat, of course, but before that, it was Bobby. It was very one-sided with Bobby and even though they got together afterward, she never actually said it back.

Elena: She loves Valentine's Day! To her, it's an excuse to buy little gifts for all the people she cares about. (UB is no exception. They all get little teddy bears and a rose.) When she was in high school, she had a crush on a girl who liked her back. The other girl confessed first. They were sort-of dating for the last bit of their senior year and never officially broke up, but they drifted apart after graduation. Bobby confessed, but only when Elena was finally ending things with her in college.

Crown: what does your oc want to be remembered as? why?

(This is will probably be more somber than it was probably supposed to be, lol.)

Marin: They don't want to be remembered by much. Death terrifies them more than anything, but they also see it as something that is a part of life. It's how things are supposed to be. Everyone is born, and then eventually, everyone dies. It doesn't feel right to try to escape that, even though they're so afraid of it. They'd like to die still human. It won't matter what they're remembered as once they're gone, because they won't be around anymore to care, but they think it would be nice to remembered simply as someone who loved and was loved in return. That's the most that anyone can really ask for, in the end.

Elena: She looked up to Rebecca a lot when she was a child, and that never faded as she grew up. The two of them are close, and Elena followed in her footsteps as much as she could. The Agency was an enigma to her, and Rebecca never wanted her involved with them in the first place. (Of course, that was before Murphy.) In the end, that's was why she wound up becoming a detective instead. It was the closest she could get without breaking her mother's heart. She'd be willing to be turned, so--no death. But she'd still have to leave eventually. Can't hang around immortal and young forever, especially in a small town like Wayhaven, right? When she finally does have to leave her hometown, she'd like to be remembered as someone who loved their little community, and who cared to do the best she could to keep them safe.

Echo of the blog!!! kindly bestow onto us the knowledge of some of the best potato recipes you've got!!! seeing the potatoes in culinary crucible have ignited the cravings for all my favorite fried dishes!! :D

Hi!! (this in a weird brain day so sorry in advance if I sound as scattered as I feel awefjakg)

Welll I actually don't cook with potatoes much, so most of my recipes are pretty opportunistic, but I have a few!

So, I mostly prefer sweet potatoes (not yams. dunno shit about yams and I don't like them). I've always used ube or murasaki sweet potatoes back home, but recently discovered there's a white people equivalent that's way more accessible in the mainland. I don't know what they're called, but they're beige on the outside and yellow-white on the inside, and they're in the sweet potato and yam section. My other favorites are those smallish yellow potatoes which I also don't know the name of, but they're pretty distinctive. Anyway, most of the sweet potato recipes work well with normal potatoes too.

Easy potato: Both these actually taste great just microwaved (wrap it in a wet paper towel and rotate it every couple minutes, and it'll cook evenly without drying out -don't forget to stab it with a fork a few times first) with butter and spices. That's my executive disfunction go-to. (if you're using regular potatoes, then once they're fully cooked, cut them in half and add the butter spices and herbs, then put some cheese over it and put them back in the microwave for like 30 seconds)

Fried potato: If I'm gonna be cooking anything in a pan, I'll set some of the sauce and oil aside and cook the potatoes with. I start them off in the microwave again until they're pretty soft (doesn't matter if they're completely done, so long as it's at least most of the way there), then cut them in half lengthwise, either coat the exposed side in sauce or just put the sauce in the pan first, then just lay them on the pan exposed-side down and press them down with a spatula while they fry! It's good to flip them and fry the other side a bit too, but not necessary if you don't eat the skins. (this is best with sweet potato)

Potato pancakes: So, I don't have any particular recipe for mashed potatoes, but I know what to do with the leftovers! My mom used to just throw leftover mashed potatoes on the pan and call it good, but my old stepfamily made latkes, so I worked out a bastard combo: Get your leftover mashed potatoes, beat an egg or two depending on the amount, and mix them together with shredded/thinly sliced cheese and whatever herbs and spices you want (measure with your heart), then just plop some decently sized scoops onto a pan with oil/butter and fry till they're golden on the outside! These don't always hold together well, so careful when flipping them.

Homefries: This is an imitation of my dad's recipe from memory, I haven't made it in a few years cause it's kinda mid, but I digress. Anyway, for this you start off with diced potatoes and let them steam under a lid (or ceramic plate, whatever you got) on the pan on medium-low heat until they're kinda soft if you poke them all the way through with a fork. Once they're soft, add oil (I prefer olive for everything, but again, use whatever you got) and whatever seasoning you want, turn up the heat to medium/medium high, and fry till golden. (my dad's always were lightly charred at the edges, I thought it was intentional as a kid, but I think he just consistently burns food. go with whatever level of crisp you enjoy)

Aaaand that's all that comes to mind right now? I made an experimental rice dish for a plane trip where I was worried the rice would dry out over night, so I fried it up with some sweet potato and a lot of added water, which worked out perfect! Sweet potato soaks up and hangs onto a LOT of water and sauce, so if you simmer the combination with sauce/seasoning until it's somewhat firm, you get a really flavorful starch base to go with a travel meal that won't dry out on you!

Good luck with the cooking! Sorry I don't have more concrete recipes for you though

(also, sauces: never underestimate the power of soy sauce-honey-garlic-ginger combo. you can add rum and balsamic or malt vinegar too.)

DAY 31 - 16/5/2024

Hey guys. Another late night tonight. I am really exhausted idk. I slept like 3 hours before having to take my AoL group phase and go to campus today. Absolutely cooked. The AoL wasn’t amazing but I guess it is what it is. When I went to campus I sat at Kerckhoff a bit and just tried to relax I guess. I even got the tomato soup and grilled cheese from the cafe for the first time and it was pretty good. I also got a carrot looking pen from the carrot man. I was so tired so I headed up the hill to take a nap before my work shift at 5. I knocked out so deeply that I overslept and woke up at 4:58pm! Oh shoot. I literally got changed so quickly I was so disoriented when I got to work at 5:05pm. My head hurt and I felt dizzy. After a bit I felt better but ye my body is kind of messed right now. During my break I tried the Pinoy night food at Feast and it was alright. There was a savoury dish with various meats and then an ube pancake. They were both pretty good but it was definitely a lot of food. I sadly forgot my leftovers at rende after the shift. After that I met up with friends and had good conversation until around now where I am finally in my bed. Doing work but I guess it’s okay. I’m really stressed right now but ye what can I do. I would rate my day a 3/10. My wonderful JP Chloe survived the day without her phone because her roommate had to use it. She was super busy as she has so many plans with people because she’s just so social! (2:18am)
