White Lies (Pt. 20 of 21)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Keanu Reeves X Reader
Word count: 1.6 K
Summary: Keanu found the girl almost dead, in the wrecks of what was once her car. While she was in surgery, stuck in a coma, he gathered the best doctors of New York to attend to her. They told him she is likely to have some kind of brain damage, what may lead to memory loss. And this possibility added up wit the fact that she's pregnant, made the council come up with an odd idea. They asked Keanu to pretend to be her husband, since the stress of finding out everything that happened could put the baby in danger. He reluctantly agreed, but only if she does has some kind of memory loss. He still goes she'll wake up soon, with her memories intact.
But when you finally wake up, there's nothing inside. You're quick to find your head is empty, void, like a blank canvas. The only thing that brings you some relief, that makes you feel less lonely is the mention of a husband. And you can't wait to meet him, because you know you can't deal with this by yourself.

His
The moment you open the front door, you know something's off. It's night already, and you're sure, by how dark it is, that every single light is turned off. Keanu was supposed to stay with Liam as you went to your appointment with the psychologist. Another one, someone who will give you a different perspective. So you don't get why the house seems to be empty. He doesn't take Liam out without telling you, and you do the same, always letting the other know where you'll be.
“Keanu?” You call, throwing your purse on the couch and taking your heels off.
Fear starts creeping over your skin when you see something weird on the floor, some feet away. Walking there, you bend over to take it, and at the same moment you realize what it is, you see another, and another, and one more after, forming a trail that leads to the back of the house. Furrowing your eyebrows, you wonder why are there so many red rose petals on the floor.
“Keanu?” You call again, making your way to the backyard, an unusual yellowish light getting your attention. “What–” The words get caught on your throat when you notice more and more the petals, and as you follow and then, raising your head, your eyes go wide at the sight of the backyard, completely lit up by candles.
There's a table set in the middle and roses all over the place. Keanu stands by the table, in a damn suit, which makes him look even more handsome. Mouth half open, you take a look at everything, perfectly set, before starting at Keanu once again.
“Ke... What...” He moves his hand a little and a slow, soft song starts playing. You gasp, biting your lip.
“Can I have this dance?” He asks, and you nod, making your way over him and taking his hand on yours.
Keanu guides your arms around his neck, his big, warm hands resting on your hip, and it burns right through the delicate fabric of the green dress you're wearing. And then, you start moving, from side to side, following the rhythm.
“What's this about, Ke?” You have to ask. It's been a while since you decided to start dating. It does sound silly, given everything that happened, but you both thought it would be a good start. You also promised not to let out what happened between you two, since people wouldn't understand and you don't want to affect his career. You forgave him, wholeheartedly, and you know he did what he did to keep you safe.
“Just thought we needed a romantic dinner.” He simply says, taking your hand and pushing you away, so gently, before pulling you back into his arms. “And don't worry. Liam is with Mrs. Jackson.”
“Alright...” Raising an eyebrow, you look up at him. “Is it a special occasion? Like my birthday or something?” The day you were born was mentioned, but you didn't really pay attention.
“Not for a couple of months.”
“You're oddly mysterious tonight, Ke.” Tiptoeing, you place a kiss on his lips.
“What's wrong with a little bit of mystery?” When the song ends, he takes your hand, guiding you to the table.
“There's nothing wrong with it.” Shrugging your shoulders, you smile at him, taking your seat.
“I'll serve dinner. Give me a minute.” You nod as he walks back inside, taking the time to look around again.
The yard was never so beautiful, the candles casting soft, warm lights. There are red petals, scattered around the place, and roses on the centerpiece. Reaching out your hand, you take one, bringing it to your nose and breathing in the amazing scent.
“(Y/N),” Keanu calls when he's near you, and when you turn around, you don't find anything on his hands. “I was going to wait so we could have dinner first, but...” Taking your hand in his, Keanu pulls you up, and you furrow your eyebrows at him.
He takes a deep breath before searching for something on the inside of his suit, and you feel your blood running cold when he gets down on one knee.
Keanu reveals a small, dark box, and when he opens it, there's the most beautiful ring you've ever seen in it. It shines, lit up by the candles, and you see three stones, the one in the middle a little bigger than the others.
“(Y/N), I know it's only been some months since we started... Dating.” He begins, and you feel your hands shaking. “But everything happened to us in quite an unusual way and I'm completely in love with you.” You're already crying, a hand covering your mouth. “I thought I knew what love was, but I was so wrong. This is love, and it's... Undescribable. The way I feel when you walk in the room is... You own my heart, it's yours.”
Biting back a sob, you let him take your hand in his.
“So I couldn't wait anymore, beautiful. I want what we had while stuck on that lie to be real. I want to be yours, and I want you to be mine. Forever. So... (Y/N)... Do you want to be my wife?”
“Yes,” you mutter, a little too fast, but since you're not sure if he could hear it, you nod, watching as he slides the ring on your finger.
There are no words to describe this moment. As Keanu stands up again, welcoming you into his arms and lifting you up, and you know this is right. Maybe everything meant to lead you to this moment. You know there are important people you left behind, like Daniel, your first husband, but you can only count on what you remember. And maybe just maybe, this was meant to be since the beginning. And you're happy, beyond happy, to have found the love of your life.
So it doesn't take much until the preparations start. Actually, they start on the very next day. For the general public, you'll be just a wedding vow renewal, since you don't remember the first. But it doesn't matter what they think, only what you know.
Laura is overjoyed, and she takes it into her hands to help you with everything. The date is set for only two months after the proposal, so it gives you little time to put everything together. And Laura is as indecisive as you are about the wedding dress. You do want to know Keanu's opinion, but you really want it to be a surprise, so you manage to chose it without asking him.
Things start getting hectic as the day approaches, but thanks to Laura, and to some people Keanu hired to organize everything, stuff is getting done just in time. When the day comes, there's not a single thing that isn't perfect.
There weren't allowed any journalists, just a single photographer, who's friends with Keanu. You know the pictures will find their way online, and you're well aware of some paparazzi hiding away. But nothing else matters. When you say ‘I do’, dressed in white, eyes on the most handsome man on Earth, nothing else matters.
And when you kiss, sealing your love before all the guests, you finally understand the true meaning of happiness. And as you walk down the aisle, hand in hand with Keanu as he holds Liam in his free arm, you smile at the camera, barely able to believe your eyes.
Sometime later, you're watching Liam playing in Mrs. Jackson's arms as you're seated on Keanu's lap. It was just for some photos, but you decided to stay.
“I have some news. But only if you agree.” Keanu says, low voice on your ear.
“Let's hear it.”
“I thought about a week in the Caribean as a honeymoon. But in November, so Liam is a little older. And if you think he'd be alright without us for this period.” As he speaks, Keanu pulls your hair away, placing a kiss on your neck.
“If we can hire Laura as a babysitter, I think it'll be alright.” Biting your lip, you look down at him. “And you should at least try to control yourself, Mr. Reeves. There are still some hours before we can be alone.” Lowering your voice, you smirk, placing a kiss on his lips.
“Because you're so good on self-control, Mrs. Reeves.”
“Oh, I love my new name.” Kissing him again, you only pull away when a song starts playing. “Ok, we have to dance.” Jumping to your feet, you start moving already, holding his hand as you walk to the dance floor. The song is fast, so you get this chance to be all over Keanu the best you can without letting anyone else notice the teasing.
“Do you really think it's a good idea to tease your husband before the wedding night?” He asks, his huge hands coming to encircle your waist, pulling you against his chest.
“It's the best idea I ever had.” Winking, you turn around, moving along with the rhythm, rasing an eyebrow to see Laura dancing with Robert. That took some time, but you finally see something happening.
The rest of the party goes on wonderfully well, and when it's over, you go back home. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson offered to stay with Liam tonight, so you and your husband have the house to yourselves. You're not entirely surprised to find your bedroom all decorated with candles and roses. You love it, but before actually getting into bed, you completely fail on the self-control thing, joining Keanu in the shower.
But of course, it doesn't stop there, and in no time, the amazingly decorated bed is messed up, once again claimed as yours. And even though you're tired of the party and the ceremony, you can't stop. You can't have enough of Keanu, you can't have enough of finally being his.

If you let me chapter 2
Tumblr media
(For some reason, I am kinda getting nervous about this story, idk, but anyway I wrote the second Chapter last night as well, but idk if I'll be this productive again 😂) also this is another universe kinda thing}
Rosemary woke up to the sun bright in her room, she guessed she cried herself to sleep, she hated crying so she made sure no one was around to see her do it, and she went to check on Kit, who was still sleeping in his basinet, she decided to watch him sleep for a bit, she noticed Johnny still wasn't in the room, maybe he had gotten up or maybe he had never come home.
She supposed once Kit woke up she should eat something but she didn't have much interest in food lately, but she needed to, she thought of CĂ©line making her breakfast and smiled, wow, she really needed to stop thinking like this but she couldn't get CĂ©line out of her head.
Why couldn't she? She couldn't stop thinking of how beautiful CĂ©line was and how her hair looked so soft, how her eyes were a beautiful green and she could stare into them for hours, how her lips looked soft and wondered what kissing her would be like, these thoughts went through her head on a daily basis and she wish she could stop but also maybe she was happy for them.
Kit woke up and she smiled at him
"Are you hungry my baby?" She said
And she picked him up and went to the kitchen to fix him a bottle, she made herself some toast with strawberry jam.
______
CĂ©line took Jace to get Crepes today for breakfast, CĂ©line loved chocolate crepes and it seemed her son had inherited the love for them as we, she was also teaching him french, he loved when she sang to him in french.
"Oh buddy, you got some chocolate on your cheek," she said.
"You too, mama," he informed her.
And they both laughed, she loved these moments where things felt normal and she could forget for even a moment, she had never known she could be this happy, until she had Jace and suddenly it was like there was a new light in her life, she would love him and be so gentle with him, he would never know anything like the childhood she had.
She picked up a napkin and wiped the chocolate off his cheek, he smiled at her.
"Alright what do you wanna do now?" She asked him
"Can you help me with reading?" He asked
Jace was always wanting to read and learn how, he loved learning
"Alright," she told him.
______
Rosemary noticed Johnny was still not home, she wondered if he decided to leave them, surely not though, right? She always had this fear in her that he would and she wondered if she would actually care if he did, she hated herself for feeling this way and thinking these things but life is like that.
She looked over at Kit playing with his stuffed animal and smiled, he didn't know hardships yet and she wished he would never have to, but she knew that it wasn't in her power to decide that.
The door opened and Johnny walked in, he looked annoyed
"Where have you been?" She asked calmly.
"At the shadow market, why does it matter?" He said
"I think I have a right to know where you are, especially when you haven't been home for almost a day," she said with a bit more force this time.
"Well I wasn't sure if that CĂ©line was gonna be around, I don't like her and honestly I would like you to stop meeting with her, and that brat of hers," he said.
And Rosemary felt a rage she hadn't felt in a long time.
"Jace isn't a brat and CĂ©line is my friend, and you don't get to decide if I hang out with people or not, I don't say you can't be at the market all the time," she said with a calm rage to her voice.
"Well it's my house and I haven't said anything to CĂ©line's face, I tolerate her when she's here, hell I even became ok with the fact we were having a kid, and I continue to go out and make money to pay for everything!" He shouted at her.
And she felt her heart sink and break a little in her chest, she never thought he would actually say he didn't want Kit but he just did, she started cry and wanted to stop but couldn't, she loved him and they had a kid together so why did it feel like it was falling apart? She loved him.
"Rosemary. . . I... I am sorry, I shouldn't have yelled that or said any of it, I am just upset," he said more softly.
"Are you sorry? Or are you just saying that so I'll pretend everything is alright when it's not," Rosemary said, she realized she had said what she had been feeling for a while.
"It's that woman, CĂ©line she is filling your head with stuff that isn't true, you know she has this idea that women are strong and can raise a kid on their own," he said with venom
"Women can do things on their own," she said.
"Really, why are you still relying on me than?" He said
"Well maybe I won't anymore," she said
And he looked like she had slapped but she didn't really care cause he had just shattered part of her heart, she would regret later she knew.
She saw Kit looked upset but he wasn't crying and she went over to hold him.
______
"Good job!, Buddy," CĂ©line said cheerfully to her son
"I did it," he said so happy.
"Yes you did."
He had just read three whole pages of a book in french and he was so proud of himself, she would eventually start teaching him latin and if he is interested other languages.
"Hey mom?" He said
She realized she had zoned out
"Yes, baby?"
"Do you think some day I could learn the piano?" He asked
"Of course you can, my sunshine," she said and ruffled his curly hair.
She hoped he wouldn't lose his curls when he got older, he had beautiful curly hair, his eyes were gold, and she thought she knew why but couldn't be sure.
______
Maryse and Robert had been exiled to the New York Institute, several years ago, they were the heads, and Maryse hated that Alec and Isabelle didn't know very many other Shadowhunter kids, but it was her fault, she trusted Valentine and let him play her like a chess piece.
She kept in contact with CĂ©line, CĂ©line kept eyes out for anything that wasn't normal in paris and Maryse did the same in New York, she disliked CĂ©line when she first met her, but she didn't hate her now, she was also raising a kid out of Idris and not around other Shadowhunter kids, she asked CĂ©line if she wanted to come visit cause maybe their kids would hit it off.
Maybe they would have another friend, and it had been years since Maryse had seen CĂ©line so maybe things could change, or maybe Maryse is finding am excuse just to see someone.
______
After their fight Rosemary waited for Johnny to leave before she packed stuff for her and Kit and went off to find a warlock to make a portal, she decided she would go to CĂ©line, maybe Johnny would figure out where she went but she at least needed some time away from him.
Amd CĂ©line would be nice to just be around, she never thought she would become close to this girl who had saved her years and years ago, but life was funny that way wasn't it?
And they are both so different now, both mom's trying to make the best with what they have, trying to not let the world hurt their children like it did them, she knew a little about what CĂ©line's parents had done to her and she wished CĂ©line had never gone through that, but she remembered what happened to her parents and wished she had never had to see them like that.
She found a warlock and they made her a portal, she went through it and she was in Paris, and it brought back memories of that night she first met CĂ©line and that Silent Brother.
She started trying to figure out which part she was in and after she did she made her to CĂ©line's.
She got to her small apartment and knocked on the door, CĂ©line opened it and looked shocked.
"Rosemary. . . Why are you here? Is everything ok?," She asked concerned.
And she just cried and hugged CĂ©line, Kit was in her arms but she didn't want to let go and she didn't want CĂ©line to let go of her.
"Mommy, who is it?" She heard Jace call as he came to the door.
he saw them and joined the hug, telling Rosemary it would be ok, and that she could cry cause crying is good, this angel she thought.
Tagging @khaleesiofalicante cause I put a scene where CĂ©line and Jace eat crepes, @chibi-tsukiko @spotsandclawsthings @megs-readstoomuch meg idk if you are interested in this but I am gonna tag you from now on if that's alright 🙈

Your summary of the ep is bang on once again Jenny! I loved yesterday's ep and I did enjoy most of tonight's ep. But yeah I'm with on the Rebecca/Seb front. They went a bit ott on the Rebecca front. I don't want to talk about Sen much & open that can of worms but I will say when Rob was in 1 note "superdad" mode being all "I won't put MY son at risk" I had to stop myself metaphorically spitting my dummy out. Maybe 1 day I'll let the bitter go rather than burying it 😂 that aside I enjoyed it 😂
I’m honestly not even that bitter about it anymore, not on a character front anyway. At least I try not to be. I still look back on all of it and weep at the frustrating writing and plot holes and missed opportunities but from a ‘what’s currently on my screen’ standpoint, I’ve mostly let all of that go. Not that I couldn’t still go on a full rant about it if someone got me started.
The Rebecca stuff, I really just mostly roll my eyes at these days and move on. I just don’t really care. Every now and then, I even almost enjoy a few of her scenes as part of an episode. I just think that tonight they went a little overkill on mentioning her missing and it feels a bit like they’re trying too hard. Then again, I’m a total hypocrite because if Aaron or Robert were missing and we got that much talk about them, I’d be all ‘look how much people care!’. So...I kind of have to check myself on some of that. Still though, i do think it was a bit over the top on that front today. Like one or two less scenes would have probably been better. And the fact that Robert only cares about her in relation to Seb is just kind of well...sums up her time on this show to be honest. Again...I weep at the missed opportunities.
With Seb, I don’t like to talk about him too much either. I get you. I mostly just go the route of the show and pretend he doesn’t really exist and only talk about him from a story logic perspective. I don’t love him and I don’t hate him. But that’s because the show just hasn’t done enough to make me feel one way or the other. If they showed scenes of Robert and Aaron having a moment with Seb outside of the plot craziness, just a cute scene or two, then the moments where he’s worried about him would feel a lot more sincere. I know he cares about him (because he’s shouted about it plenty of times before) but I want to feel it properly. Same with Aaron. If they put in the work, I feel like there would be more people that could let the past go and get on board. They’ve had some scenes but they’ve been few and far between and it’s been since really the last time he was in danger during kidnapping week that they really seemed all that connected to him in any way. And that was quite a while ago. I don’t know. Make me care emmerdale!
The difference between Rebecca and Seb for me is that I don’t feel like I need to invest in Rebecca because I still think she’s probably going whereas, I feel like Seb will stick around, so I want them to give me a relationship and a character to care about.
I’ll stop ranting about it now. It doesn’t really do any good anyway. They’ll either fix it or they won’t.

Chapter 40 - Aftermath (1)
BROTHERHOOD
Thomas violently woke up, quickly sitting up in his bed.
A bed? he thought and looked around.

"Allison," he said quietly at the sight of the brunette standing at the window in thought. She turned around with a wide smile.

"Tom!" she cried out and hurried to sit by his side, taking his hand into hers.

"How are you feeling?" she asked, watching him dilligently.

"I... I don't know," he said, realizing that the agonizing pain from before was gone. He uncovered the duvet from his legs to see the damage Dennis had made. They were fine.
"What am I wearing?" Thomas wondered, noticing that somebody had to change him into pyjamas and he blushed at the thought.

"I don't know, you were like this when I came."

"Where am I?"

"At Michendros'... he found you."
It all came back suddenly. The fall, the horrid creature that caught him and then... Mich.
"What happened?" Allison urged.
"He didn't tell you?"
"Just parts... that he caught you when they tossed you off a cliff. That's basically it. We were lucky that he found you in time. He said that if he appeared a bit later, it might have been late."
Thomas gulped and nodded, silently thankful for Michendros not sharing his terrible state and breakdown he had in front of him.
"So?" Allison asked for the third time.
"I think... that my mom finally lost it. She... she let them kick me off the mountain."
"Gosh, I am so sorry, Thomas. If I could I would give her such a -"
"That's okay, Allison. I... I don't really want to think about her now."
"Yeah, right. You relax now, okay? You're in good hands," she said, smiling, "I gotta go now, I am late for work. God, I am so glad you're alright."
Allison hugged him tightly and pressed a kiss into his hair.
"Allison?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you have some cigarettes in your bag?"
"I do... you want some?"
"Yes, please."
Allison took out her Marlboro package and looked at it, deciding to leave him the whole pack. She laid it on the night table and said: "Welcome to the smokers club, again."
"I am not starting again. It's just for the nerves."
"Sure, sure," she said and waved him goodbye as she left the room.
Thomas picked up the Marlboro package and looked at it, sighing. He felt weak. Just a pair of handcuffes made him uncapable of defending himself properly. I rely too much on magic, I guess, he thought.
His blue eyes shot towards the door. Is he home?
Thomas recalled his memories from previous night and cringed at them a bit.
"Fuck," he let out quietly. Thomas felt suddenly so dependent. Dependent on Michendros in this case. He didn't want to be dependent on anyone, though. The worst thing was that if that man didn't have a thing for Thomas, he would have probably let him die, right?
Thomas shook these thoughts of and looked at the door, again. He needed to face him at some point. So, he stood up and glanced into the mirror next to the door.
He was wearing dark blue pyjamas from a very smooth and shiny material. Silk, Thomas guessed.
Slowly, he put his hand onto the silver doorknob and turned it around. He walked out onto a halfway that was decorated with paitings and plants. He stopped to listen for any sounds, trying to figure out if he's somewhere around. Suddenly, he heard water flowing. He followed that sound and ended up at a door frame which was leading into the kitchen where Michendros was drying his hands with a small hand towel. Michendros glanced up at Thomas who immediately looked down at the floor.
"Did you sleep well?" Michendros asked softly, returning to his piece of dough he had lying on the kitchen counter. Thomas slowly approached one of the bar stools and sat down in it.
"Yeah," he mumbled at looked at Michendros back, feeling a bit awkward. Michendros stuffed the dough into a bowl and covered it with another hand towel, then he turned around, cleaning his hands with a paper towel which he then skillfully threw into the bin.
"I am happy to hear that," Michendros answered with a smile. Thomas averted his gaze from Michendros, feeling as if the smiles he gave Thomas were fake.
Michendros walked around the bar and stopped next to Thomas, he leaned on the surface of the bar and looked at Thomas.
"Do you want to talk about it?" he offered. Thomas turned his head to see him and quickly rejected his suggestion: "No, no need. I am fine."
"Of course you are," Michendros said with a hint of irony, but his voice still sounded calming.
"What I wanted... to say," Thomas began, "I wanted to say thanks. You needn't worry about me anymore. They think I am dead. I'll just lay low. I'll manage on my own from now."
Michendros raised his eyebrows at him: "I don't mind you being around, though. I like your company."
"Look, I know... I get that you have a thing for me and that's why you are so nice and all... but I don't want to owe you anything, okay?"
Michendros smile faded and he straightened back up: "I am sorry for giving you this impression, Tommy," he said neutrally. He walked back to his bowl of dough and put it into the fridge.
"What?" Thomas asked, confused a bit. Michendros turned around to him and found his blue eyes. "Sure, I like you... But it saddens me that you think that I am that superficial. If you don't 'have a thing' for me, that's fine. I can get over a crush. But that doesn't mean I would stop caring about you just like that."
"You don't even know me," Thomas said.
"Yet here we are," Michendros said with a sad smile.
Thomas glanced up at the man in front of him. Maybe, I judged him to harshly. He has emotions, too, as it seems. Weird that such a inhuman being can be so... mundane, Thomas thought and massaged his forehead.
"Where do you want to go?" Michendros asked suddenly.
"Home-," Thomas stopped, realizing where 'home' was.
"What's wrong?" Michendros noticed his odd pause.
"Uhm," Thomas said and felt ashamed to say so, "I... I live in the same house... as her."
Michendros approached the bar and leaned on it with his arms, being now only about 12 inches from Thomas' face.
"You live with your mother who tried to kill you?"
Thomas felt relieved that Mich didn't pick on him because of the fact that he still lived with his mother, being almost thirty years old.
"Sounds problematic," Michendros added when Thomas didn't answer.
"Yeah," Thomas admitted, "I guess I need to move to a different state or something. Maybe even country..."
"You want to run away?" Michendros asked and kept watching Thomas' eyes.
"Well, what else should I do?"
"Stay here," Michendros said shortly.
"Here?" Thomas asked, bewildered.
"Yeah, why not. I have two spare bedrooms. Take one of them."
"What? I can't just... I couldn't afford to pay the rent, this place his huge."
"Don't worry about the rent, I own the building."
"Oh... but I can't just live here for free, you have to pay the bills."
"Hm, you can work for me, then. I presume your old job is out of the question when your mother knew that you work there..."
"Work for you?" Thomas imagined a few horrid scenarios where he had to do the dirty work for him.
"Yeah, and you get to live here then."
"And... what would you want me to do?" Thomas asked carefully.
"Uhmm, the stuff I am lazy to do," Michendros chuckled and straightened his back again, grabbing an apple from a bowl on the bar.
"What is that?"
Michendros seemed in thought, as if trying to figure quickly out how to employ Thomas.
"You... could be the landlord! You know, deal everyone's apartment issues. I usually let the receptionist downstairs deal these things for me."
"You want me to take care of this building?"
"Well, you ought to. You live here."
"Wait... I haven't even agreed to it yet."
"But you are considering it, aren't you?"
It was a dillema for Thomas. He liked the idea of staying in New York, close to Allison, the sane and only relative he had left. He thought of Stiles, too, with whom he pretended to be friends before all this happened. He felt anxious thinking about that.
"Does Stiles hate me?" Thomas asked out of the blue. Michendros eyebrows shot up in surprise, not expecting such a change of topic.
"I don't think so, no."
"Hm," Thomas hummed and looked at his hands.
"Why do you ask?" Michendros said and took a bite of the apple he has been holding.
"I... I haven't properly talked to him since... you know. I used him when he was weak... I guess now I understand how it had to feel to be helpless in such a dire situation."
"You still have a chance to talk with him about it, if you stay."
Thomas slowly nodded, accepting another favor from this man. He definitely didn't want to get used to be dependent on Michendros, but it seemed so simple. An easy solution to his troubles. And Thomas didn't feel that he could really handle more stress for now.
Michendros' face lighted up and he walked to Thomas, giving him a tight hug from behind, startling Thomas with the sudden familiarity.
"Welcome to your new home, roomie," Michendros said.
...
Lydia stayed the night at her father's.
The next day, Stolos was already stepping around in front of the house, waiting for somebody open him the door.
After a few minutes, the large wooden door opened with a squeak.
"Come on in, son," Mr. Martin said and stepped aside for him to entry. Stolos himself was quite taken aback by Lydia's father change in attitude. Stolos repaied him with a polite smile and walked in.
"Where's Lyds?" Stolos asked.
"She's making us some coffee, come to the living room, she'll bring it there."
Stolos followed the man through the hallway right into the dim-lit room. They sat down in front of each other, Lydia's father watching Stolos carefully.
"So... do you really mean it with her?" he finally asked.
"Yes, sir," Stolos said automatically, looking around and hoping that Lydia would come soon.
"Because if not, then-"
"Then what, Mr. Martin?" Stolos asked in a steady tone which made Robert to lose his confidence.
"Well, just don't break her heart."
"What are you two talking about?" Lydia said from the doorframe with a chastening voice.
"Nothing, nothing," her father said. Stolos stood up, waited for Lydia to put fown the tray and hugged her firmly and kissing her lightly on the lips.
"I missed you," he said, caressing her cheek.
"Sweetie, it hasn't even been a day. Is everything alright?"
They sat down on the couch and Lydia put her hand on Stolos' knee. Robert picked up a cup of coffee and started drinking it.
"Allison was right. Tommy was actually in danger. Mich was able to find him in time, though. He had to be pretty beaten up because when they returned, Tommy was surrounded by Mich's magic basically. He had to heal him all over his body, really."
"Oh, god," Lydia gasped, "who did that? His mom?"
"Yeah, I think so. Mich said they threw him off a cliff. He luckily caught him in time."
"In the air? With his silky wings?"
"Yeah," Stolos sighed, "with his silky wings."
"Cool," Lydia admitted, trying to remember since when she became so comfortable with their capibilites.
"Who's Tommy?" Mr. Martin interrupted their dialog.
"Allison's cousin, he's a witch, actually!" Lydia explained.
"A witch, eh?"
"Magician, I'd say," Stolos corrected Lydia who rolled her eyes at him.
"Hm, hm, and is that fella doing okay now?" Lydia's father asked.
"Yeah, he's at my brother's now, resting," Stolos answered.
The room was quiet for a second or two. Stolos took a sip of his coffee and laid a hand around Lydia, silently appreciating her presence.
"So," Mr. Martin began carefully, "about Scarlett... Is it possible to find the hunters?"
Mr. Martin watched Stolos dilligently, hoping for a positive answer. He still wasn't sure about him. Rationally, he knew that Stolos helped him with his wife and that he seems to be on their side. Emotionally, on the other hand, he was still on alert. Stolos' behavior towards him was just polite, but didn't seem friendly. As if Stolos treated him well only for Lydia's sake.
"Yeah... I did look into that a bit," Stolos answered, "after Mich went after Thomas. I actually wanted to ask you what would you like to do with them. It's a whole organisation, they are pretty religious and that's why they do that. Anything inhuman is a demon to them, therefore deserves annihilating. Do you want them all dead? Or just the two who killed Scarlett?" Stolos asked nonchalantly as if was Robert supposed to choose a meal.
Lydia's father looked at his daughter who stared at her boyfriend intently. Mr. Martin scratched his forehead and said: "Well, boy, when you say it like that... it makes it pretty real," he laughed nervously.
"It does, yeah" Lydia agreed quietly.
"We don't have to do anything at all," Stolos suggested, "it's your choice."
"No," Mr. Martin said more confidently, "I want them to carry consequences for what they did."
"And what consequences?" Stolos asked.
"...I am not sure... maybe if I could talk with them first. If they were maybe... made to do so... it would change the situation."
"So, you would like to talk to them at first, then decide?" Stolos paraphrased to make sure.
"Yes, I would like to do that."
