Rereading the lost hero, and seeing Jason being so anxious during the entirety of the quest and being kind of like ‘oh I can’t let piper and leo face any danger because if they do it’s my fault and i can’t let anything happen to them because i care abt them so much’ LIKE
I forgot how kind and compassionate Jason was 😭😭 AND LIKE, JASON BEING LIKE ‘no I can’t play with pipers feelings because our relationship is based on a lie and I can’t hurt her as much as I already have’
Jason is so great I can’t even believe I called him the worst of the seven

This is the Part Where I Shut Up (And Let You Infest My Brain)
woah? whimsy wrote something?
Nico looked around the room, melting into the cacophony of music surrounding him. Piper was attacking the drums full force, sweat dripping from her face. She was so good at her instrument. It helped that she practiced for hours on end. Her dad bought her two drum sets: one for Leo’s house, where most band practices happened, and one for her house. She was like a human metronome, never straying from the beat. By this point, the boys knew better than to argue with her about who was off-tempo.
Jason was relatively new at the bass, but he was picking it up so quickly. He enjoyed being the lower instrument, carrying both the beat and a rhythm, and it showed. He didn’t have as much time to practice, being president of about three or four clubs at school, but sometimes he would call Nico late at night to show off the latest song he learned. Nico did love those calls, even if he knew it was likely because he was the only one still awake. Jason was incredibly talented and Nico adored getting to watch him grow.
Leo was… a nightmare on the guitar. He’d been playing basically since he was big enough to hold it and never put it down again. At the risk of Nico genuinely complimenting him, he sounded beautiful. There were moments where Leo would get frustrated with how he was playing and fully walk away from practice, leaving the rest of them to wonder how he heard anything but perfection. He picked up new music insanely fast, then worked it until it was up to his standards. Nico suspected that guitar was a way for him to productively fidget, a way to get his fingers moving and fill the silence; he would never go so far as to psychoanalyze him, but he noticed Leo didn’t do so well without motion and sensory input. Still, it worked out well. Leo was the best guitar player Nico knew.

bro, i need to know your opinion of Jason Grace from Percy Jackson. I mean as a character, I had never understood the hate train that went in and on about him though I do feel like Rick undervalued and underutilized his overwhelming potentiel.
Like it was all laid out man, the backstory, the relationships, the personality all of it, but Rick decided to just insert all of his character development at the worst times and introduce him in a way that set him up for failure. Then TOA came out and the whole population went crazy bc of his little… ‘accident’
Point is that I loved him so much and his sorry really broke my heart, I feel like he never truly got to explore himself, nor live for himself…he was 16.
What Hera took from him is my Roman Empire (pun intended)
I'm so sorry, I am not a huge Jason fan.
I am a little older (stupid to say at 24 but the Avatar fandom are babies), so I had aged out of Percy Jackson (if one can) by the time of Magnus Chase and the Apollo series, so I've actually never read them. I was deep in high school by that point, I read mostly like... Stephen King and books for English class. Idk maybe I'd like him better if I read them??
Personally, I think the "hate train" for Jason stems from The Lost Hero. You cannot fully imagine how pissed we all were at that book unless you were excited and waiting for it for a year and then were slapped in the face with Jason. Like who the fuck are you, leave me alone, where is Percy? It felt like watching Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin instead of Pretty Little Liars. Like, I'm sorry, you will never be the Liars stop trying. Jason and Piper will never be percabeth and that's how we felt reading that book in 2010.
I was much more open to Hazel and Frank by The Son of Neptune, because I was getting answers about Percy. The effect softened with time and more character interactions, but it definitely hurt Jason and also Piper for a chunk of us. There could probably be essays about how Leo escaped that a little bit. That after effect has definitely stuck with me, and with others for sure.
I also personally always found him the most boring, I really think every other character has a cooler story then him. But to each his own! I'm now very interested to see if I like him a ton more rereading them as an adult. I enjoyed rereading the first book so so much, I've got to reread the others.

Jason Grace & Piper McLean - "Happily Ever Afters" - One-Shot
Summary: cute/deep moment(s) with piper & jason where they discuss the existence of god(s) & jason's daddy issues. pre-break up. very self-indulgent Word Count: 3931 TW: Mention of religion, gods, & Chrstianity. Read on AO3
Piper never really questioned what happened after the “Happily Ever After” at the end of every romance book she’d read. They were happy in the end, just like the trope implied, and that was all she needed to know.
But now, as she reclines by the beach, watches Jason stomp around in the water, she’s starting to wonder. What did happen? Did they truly live happily ever after? Is there such a thing?
Maybe she shouldn’t even be asking those questions. After all, those romance books existed for a reason. There never was meant to be any questioning about what happened after.
And maybe Piper should be doing the same. Maybe she’s just thinking too much about her and Jason’s relationship, and maybe her overthinking is making her paranoid. Maybe the silences between them are normal, and she’s just starting to get antsy. Besides, it’s not like they’re having any serious fights or anything. As long as they’re not fighting, they’re good.
In fact, as Piper lays there, watching Jason come out of the water with the sunset glinting over his bare chest, illuminating each individual water droplet, the sun ringing his body with a golden halo, things are better than good. Great, even.
Piper smiles as he drops into the sand. “How’s the water?”
“Cold, kind of,” he says. He takes the towel beside her and starts to pat himself dry. “I think because the sun’s going down, but still.”
Piper winces. “Yeah, sorry. I feel really bad that I couldn’t get off work earlier.”
Jason smiles and starts running the towel through his hair. “You’re fine. Besides, it looks really pretty right now.” As he’s getting the back of his neck, he fixes a grin on her. “I can’t believe there's just a beach near your house. That is so cool.”
“I guess so. Just famous parent things, as everyone knows.” Piper allows a smirk to slip by her lips, just to let him know she’s joking.
Jason snorts. “Right, as everyone knows.”
Another one of those silences buzzes around them, and even the lapping of the water or the crying of the seagulls can’t infiltrate it. Piper looks at her toes, trying to search for something to say, something to shatter this quietness.
“Oh!” Piper exclaims, and relief gets her heart pumping again. “I almost forgot. I have a gift for you.”
“A gift?” he asks, but his eyes look panicked around the edges. “Why? Is it an important day?”
Piper laughs as she throws open the beach bag next to her and pulls out a small box. “Can’t I just give you something for the fun of it?”
Jason smiles, but it’s still quivering around the edges. “Sure, but now I feel bad....”
“Well, don’t,” Piper says as she places the gift in Jason’s hands. “Just consider this me treating you.”
That finally pulls a laugh out of Jason, and it sounds like a cool breeze coming to lift away her worries. Piper forgets about that awkward silence, about all the things they’re not saying to each other.
She and Jason are fine. It’s just in her head.
“Okay,” he finally relents, pulling the ribbon wrapped around it. “But whatever it is, I’m going to get you a doubly awesome gift.”
“We’ll see about that, Sparky.”
Piper watches eagerly as he flicks the cover off and peers inside. His face goes through a ripple of emotions - anticipation, confusion, realization, confusion again, and then finally, amusement. He lifts the plain silver chain - topped with a cross pendant - and lifts it up. The drooping sunlight wraps itself around the necklace, makes it glint even brighter and even more beautifully than before.
But Jason has that kind of power. He makes everything more.
“This is stunning, Pipes,” Jason breathes, his eyes reflecting the glint off the chain. Then he throws her a grin and says, “Mind doing me the honors?”
“Of course. Turn around.”
Jason hands her the chain and follows her instructions. Piper leans in gingerly, wraps her arm around his shoulders to reach the other end of the necklace, and something about this moment, being engulfed in his entire essence, feels right. She feels like the fifteen-year-old girl she was when she first met him, moving slowly, precisely, careful not to make any move that might scare him off, yet still daring to take a step closer, just to show him how dangerous she could be, how many risks she was willing to take with him.
She brushes her fingers gently over the nape of his neck as she latches it on, absorbing this moment with him right here, just the two of them with the sun sinking around them, closing on another day together.
“Done,” she murmurs, afraid to let the moment go.
Jason turns back around to face her and grins, touching the chain and admiring the pendant. “It’s really so pretty, Piper. I don’t think I can ever take it off.”
Piper laughs. “I’m glad you like it. It took a lot of deliberation, to be honest.”
“Yeah?” Jason raises his eyebrows a bit. “Why?”
“I don’t know. I just… wanted to do something nice for you.”
In reality, she wanted something to strike a conversation, something that would get them keeping each other’s gaze longer. But she doesn’t voice any of that. Instead, she says, “I couldn’t think about many things you really liked, and then I remembered you’re, like, making all those blueprints and models for that temple project you have going on, and you’re basically a priest now.” She shrugs. “I thought a priest should have something fitting.”
Jason raises an eyebrow. “So you got me a symbol of Christianity when our entire lives are based on a pagan belief system?”
In any other situation she might’ve felt outright humiliated, but the subtle buzz of playfulness ringing his eyes allows her to snort instead. “It was very thought-out, I promise. Firstly, as a Roman priest, Mr. Pontifex, you should know the Romans adopted Christianity as their official religion.”
“True. But they also hated the Christians at first.”
“That’s besides the point. The real reason I got it for you was because I know how much the religion thing means to you.”
Not because Jason was particularly religious. But for the opposite reason - he was touched by the very idea of gods, of any religion. He didn’t necessarily believe in all of them (except for the Roman and Greek gods in their world, though that didn’t count as believing if they were actually, literally real) but he loved the idea of people putting their faiths in higher powers. Of having that utter belief that there was someone up there looking out for them.
“I think it’s just interesting, you know,” he’d said one night, lying on the floor of Piper’s bedroom, the two of them waiting for exhaustion to creep in on them. “I’ve been personally involved with real gods and I know what kinds of punishments they can give you for real, and a lot of the time I’m like, ‘This is so unfair, I didn’t ask for any of this!’ But then you look at, like, really faithful people and many of them say that whatever happens is just the will of their god - or gods. And, I don’t know… that’s just kind of cool, I guess.” Jason paused to chew on his lip. “I know Thalia told me once that our mom was a Christian, and we went to church a few times, but I don’t think we were ever serious about it. Like, I don’t think I’m particularly religious or anything. But having that kind of faith in someone higher is really… I don’t know… inspiring? To just have so much trust in their respective gods.” Jason paused for a second. And then, in a whisper, he thought aloud, “Maybe I think that’s cool because I don’t have that same trust in our gods.”
“Our parents, you mean?” Piper whispered back. She knew she was treading dangerous territory here, whispering about the gods right under their noses, but a part of her liked the thrill. This was a part of Jason she hadn’t seen before. He always tried his best to be careful around them, diplomatic, mature, but this was different. And she admired this part of him, this inquisitive, insightful part that was questioning everything.
Jason turned to her and shrugged. “I guess. But I feel bad saying that, because then it just makes me think… is my parental relationship to them the reason I just don’t believe? Knowing what the Roman and Greek gods are like, is that why I’m, like, scared to believe in a faith? Because I’m just mixing up parenthood and godhood?”
“Are you scared?”
Jason considered it. “I don’t think I’m scared. I think I’m just hesitant to commit.”
“That’s fine, you know.”
“I know. I think I’d prefer not believing, though. But just the idea is something I think about a lot. It fascinates me, feeling so loyal to higher beings.” Jason sighed. “Maybe, in a way, it’s similar to how we act with the gods. I guess we’re loyal, too. At least some of us.”
“Some of us more than others,” Piper said, and she gave Jason a pointed raise of her brows.
Jason laughed and turned his face up to the ceiling. Piper watched the red glow of her LED lights bloom in his irises, turn them into a strange, darker red. There was something almost dreamy in his gaze, all his thoughts floating past his eyes like clouds over a sunset.
She turned her own head back to the ceiling and closed her eyes, ready to finally let herself relax, but then Jason asked, “What about you?”
So she opened her eyes and peeked at him. “What about me?”
“What do you think about religion?”
If anyone else had asked that, maybe Piper would have ignored the question, or provided some short, unthoughtful answer. But the full confidence Jason had when he expressed his thoughts - like he could trust her with this little piece of him - urged her to reveal a bit of herself, too.
She took a deep breath and turned back up to the ceiling. “I think religion is… inspiring to me, too, probably for similar reasons,” she said. “I think there’s power in it. There’s unity in it.” But then she shook her head and squinted her eyes, trying to narrow her thoughts into some coherent line. “I don’t really know much about my tribe, if I’m being honest. I know some stories my dad used to tell me, ones that his dad told him, but that’s about it. And I guess to me it just impacts what I think about religion. I mean, like, I don’t think I’ve thought about it enough. It’s not something that’s been super prevalent in my life. I know it exists outside of me, but it’s just been outside of my world.” Piper shrugged. “I guess that’s what I think about it. It’s just not something I’ve explored.”
“Do you want to?” Jason asked. “Explore it?”
“Yeah,” Piper said, though there was a tremor in her voice. She felt like she was treading a new universe, completely alien to her. “I think so. Or maybe it’s less religion and more just, like, my culture as a whole. I think a large part of why I don’t really see religion as this big thing is because I feel like I’m just so removed from my own heritage, you know?” Piper paused, then snorted. “Wow, that was a much longer explanation than you were probably asking for.”
Jason smiled at her. “No. It was perfect. I get what you mean.”
Piper’s heart shuddered at his words, and she smiled back. “Yeah, but anyway, long story short, I think I just want to get closer to my heritage.”
“Makes perfect sense.” Then Jason touched his pinkie to hers and twisted his body to face hers. His smile was warm in the red lighting. “I like knowing your thoughts.”
“You’ve heard my thoughts before.”
“Yeah, but I mean…” Jason sighed, then held both her hands. “What I mean is I like talking with you. About things that aren’t life-or-death. It’s cool. Like I get to see this part of you that isn’t demigod. Not that I don’t love your demigod side.”
Piper laughed and leaned her head closer to his, so that their foreheads were almost touching. “Yeah, I get it. I like talking to you, too. Really talking.”
Jason smiled, and the sight of it felt like the sun was shining right against her heart. “Good. I think we should do more of this.”
But that was months ago. Now the little conversations don’t feel so stimulating anymore, just needed. Forced.
But that’s why Piper got Jason’s necklace. It’s more than just doing something nice for him. It’s to remind him of one of her favorite moments, of being so real and raw with him. Maybe, just maybe, this will evoke something.
And watching Jason touch the cross gently, like it’s a fragile ancient artifact, sends a wave of pride over Piper. She must’ve chosen a good gift after all.
“Thank you,” Jason says, tilting his face so that the sunset falls over it, so that his blonde hair flashes like flames, so that the few droplets of water still clinging to him reflect the pinks and oranges and golds off his body. “It’s beautiful.”
“You’re welcome.” Piper smiles, and this smile feels genuine, real, or at least realer than any smile she’s given to him in the past few weeks. “I’m so glad you like it.” She puts the now-empty box away and leans against his shoulder, but something inside of her hums in discomfort. She shoves that feeling down.
“How’s it going, by the way?” Piper asks. “The planning?”
“Oh, it’s okay, I guess.” Jason shrugs. “A little slow, but I think I’m almost finished. I just have to add a few more spots on the diagram and figure out blueprints for some temples, and then I’m good to go.”
“That’s good! When do you think you’ll get it started?”
“I was actually thinking I’ll start getting it in action next summer, when we’re off school. I’ll probably be done by then, and it’ll be nice to see our Camp Jupiter friends.”
Piper nudges him. “Don’t forget about Camp Half-Blood, Sparky.”
“Oh, right. Greeks.” Jason rolls his eyes playfully, and Piper laughs.
“That’s exactly what a Roman-turned-Greek would say.”
Now it’s Jason’s turn to laugh, and for a moment Piper almost believes the mirth behind it. But then she hears something else, something buried under that amusement, something heavy and doubtful. Not only that, but Jason’s eyes aren’t their usual striking blue anymore - they’re a cloudy gray color, crackling with some sort of dark energy.
“Okay,” Jason says, and he shifts so he’s sitting with his spine straight, his eyes gazing at the sand. “I have a weird question for you.”
“Okay. Shoot.”
“It’s, like, really random. I don’t know. I’ve just been… thinking.”
“What is it?”
“I don’t know. I mean, maybe it’s kind of stupid.” Jason laughs again, but this time his laugh shudders a little, titters on the edge like it’s losing its balance. “Maybe I’m just overthinking.”
“Jason!” Piper touches his shoulder. “Come on. Just ask. You can trust me.”
Jason offers her a reluctant smile. “Okay. I don’t know. I think I’ve just been thinking about it a lot but…” Jason turns his gaze back out to the ocean, its roiling waves reflecting back against his pupils. He lowers his voice as he asks, “Do you think all these temples are deserved?”
Piper’s eyebrows rise, completely of their own volition. She can’t help the surprise that overwhelms her face. Her thoughts skitter in a pulse of panic as she tries to search for an answer to that question.
“Do you want me to be honest?”
Jason smiles. “If you’re brave enough.”
Piper hesitates. “I… don’t really think so. You can correct me if I’m wrong, but I kind of thought this project was just to console the gods. Not honor them, really, but just please them. I mean, wasn’t that the promise you and Percy made to that one goddess - Kymopoleia?”
Jason shrugs. “Yeah, I can see why you thought that. And if I’m being honest, I think sometimes I do think it’s just to please them more than to honor them.” But then Jason’s eyebrows knit together. “I don’t know. I mean, my entire life I was taught to just respect them. To give them offerings and pray to them and maybe, just maybe, they’ll answer my prayers. But after this summer on the Argo II, I feel like my opinion just… changed. I’ve just been questioning if they really deserve these temples.”
“Well, I think to deserve something is kind of a deep question in the first place,” Piper says. “And I think if you were to ask someone who’s never actually met our version of the Roman or Greek gods before - like, maybe someone who isn’t a demigod but still believes in those pantheons - they’d probably be like ‘Why is that even a question? Of course they deserve them.’ I mean, they’re worship places after all. But we know these gods personally - at least to some extent - so it makes sense why you’re asking that.” Piper scratches her chin. “I think the better question is regardless of your answer, are you still going to carry on with the plan? Because if you are, then what does it matter if they’re deserved?”
Jason is quiet for a minute, allowing the lapping of the water to talk for him. He fingers a rock next to him, rolls it against the ground, scratches on it, and the anticipation of watching Jason, with his nervous energy buzzing underneath that one fingertip, makes Piper’s own nerves curl.
“That’s the thing,” Jason says finally. “It doesn’t, because I know I’m going to go through with it. I think it's just something that’s been sitting at the back of my mind for a while. What my relationship to our gods is.” He squints, his eyes narrowing in on a thought. “I think I’ve had a lot of time to self-reflect lately.”
“Yeah?” Piper digs her pinkie underneath Jason’s, hoping he’ll latch onto her, connect with her skin. Her heart is starting to beat faster at the prospect of being able to share another one of those moments with Jason, the one that she’s been reaching for so long. And maybe it’s selfish, only prodding him to entertain herself, but what choice does she really have at this point? They’re struggling to breathe; the air around them has turned stale. “What have you been thinking about?” she asks.
“Just that,” he says. “My relationship to the gods. What I think of them. That stuff.” Jason pauses. “I mean… my whole life was spent training for them. My whole life I was trained to support them, to fight for them, to give my life to them. I mean, yeah, it was also spent training to make sure demigods stayed safe, but I know underneath that it was about fighting for them. And I think I played that pretty dutifully, to be honest. But after the quest over the summer I’ve just been wondering, like… how much did they really deserve it? All that effort we did? We don’t hear from them unless they want something from us. Every demigod’s dream is just to meet their godly parent, but you don’t even get to meet them most of the time unless you do something totally worthy of their respect.” Jason sighs. “I don’t know. I shouldn’t even be saying this.”
Piper turns his words over in her head. “So you’re wondering if you should keep believing in them.”
“Maybe,” Jason agrees hesitantly. “Or maybe I’m just expecting too much from them. I mean, they’re gods, you know? Can’t ask for everything. They won’t answer all prayers.”
“I guess so,” Piper agrees. “But it’s okay to question this, you know. I can guarantee you you’re not the only person to.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” Jason frowns again. “I don’t know, I guess I’ve also been thinking a lot about that time I told you that I might just be mixing up godhood and parenthood. But I don’t see how else I’m supposed to see it if not parenthood. I mean, they’re literally our parents. Don't they owe us some kind of admiration? Respect? Honor? Do they really give us any of that unless we do something that pleases them?”
Piper opens her mouth, then closes it again. “I was going to say something,” she says, raising her eyebrows, “but I think I might be better off not saying them.”
“What? You can say it, Pipes.”
“Promise you won’t hate me?”
“Why would I hate you?”
Piper bites her lip, then sighs. “I’m starting to think what you really mean is you’re not enjoying this tough love from your dad. Which is fine! I get that.”
Jason blinks at her, and then a slow, deliberate smile creeps over his face. A wave of relief washes over Piper seeing it; at least he’s not angry. “You’re saying I have daddy issues?”
“Well, I’m definitely not saying you don’t.”
“I guess you’re right,” he agrees. “Maybe underneath all that contemplating I’m just disappointed in my dad.”
Piper huffs a laugh and taps her head. “Some real Freudian-level things going on here.”
Jason laughs, too. “I guess your Psych class paid off.” Then he sighs and wraps his fingers over hers, and her entire body seems to heave a sigh of relief. This is right. This is normal. “I’m sorry, though. I don’t mean to dump all this on you on such a pretty evening.”
“It’s okay,” she promises. Not like we have anything else to really talk about.
“Yeah, but I don’t want to do that to you. That’s probably better for some other time on my own.” Jason rises, and for the first time Piper realizes how dark it is, the sun no longer red but overwhelmed in shades of purple and blue. It reflects over Jason’s skin, turns him into a galaxy. He extends a hand. “How about we actually enjoy this time together? Maybe you can finally teach me to surf.”
Piper laughs and takes his hand, letting him help her up. “I don’t know, it’s kind of dark for surfing.”
Even in the growing darkness, Jason’s smirk makes Piper’s heart glow through her ribcage. “What happened to you being a dangerous girl?”
“I’m dangerous,” she agrees, walking with him towards the midnight ocean, feeling the sand swim through her toes, “but not stupid. No surfing.”
“Fine,” he sighs. “I guess you have a point.” Then he kisses her temple, and the kiss illuminates every cell in her blood, each pulse of her heart. She feels like she’s back watching that meteor shower with Jason, falling harder in love with every second.
And when Jason dives into the water, when he brings her with him and splashes her, when she shrieks and splashes him back, she tries to tell herself that this is it. That she can live contently just questioning the existence of god and swimming by the beach for the rest of her life with Jason.
That they’ve reached their “Happily Ever After,” and there is no other ever after to look for.

leo valdez post link pls 🙏
oh no babe i meant post as in after tlh.... 😭
#my feelings on it tho -> I feel book 1 of hoo did a decent job characterizing jason piper and leo#even if there were some extremely questionable stereotypes with piper and leo (as there almost always are with poc in rr)#so that's fine. but post that when the whole seventh wheel thing starts? it feels so underbaked and ill written#for me leo has two major conflicts: dilemma related to his power + mom's death and his seventh wheel stuff#its been a long time since i read the books so idr much about the first one#but i remember being severely irritated that leos arc just boiled down to him being desperate for a girlfriend to outrun the seventh wheel#not just that but his personality being written as really irritating and honestly a little weird (?) when it came to that sometimes#(there was a leo-frank rivalry over hazel?? am i right? idk)#the sammy thing was weird too tbh#ok and the whole resolution with calypso? not really a fan#(i don't like the fact that everyone else had to be in a relationship to emphasize the seventh wheel either but what can you do)#to me it should have been about leo getting over his fear of his power which made him isolate himself in the first place while#realizing he doesn't have to hit on every female character they meet#the entire prophecy feels more like a finding comfort within oneself thing more than a get a girlfriend thing! just being honest!#and the calypso resolution jumps through so many hoops and burns through so many words to be such an uninteresting ending#okay he has a gf too hooray! like literally every other of your characters in this series#sorry for ranting about this 8 year old series lmao

Every day is Jason Grace rememberance day, ahre
No but really, it's well within our power to create our own little canon where we have Jason Grace, alive and happy and deeply understood, we can ask ourselves, who is this kid? Who does he think he is? How does he want to be perceived? Who does he want to be? Why? Who is this kid raised by wolves and legionnaires, like a sheep for slaughter? What things does he love? Is he a history nerd? Does he like art? Does he prefer science? Remember when he thought he couldn't allow himself weakness if he wanted to survive? Where does this ever soldier put down his sword? We can give him peace and love, we can give him a houseful of grandchildren, like the one he imagined in BoO, it's within the fandoms power and we could pull it
I guess this is just me wanting jasiper fanfiction, huh?

love languages ࿐ ࿔*:・゚
pjo boys x reader (percy jackson, jason grace, leo valdez, frank zhang, luke castellan, nico di angelo, will solace, ethan nakamura) backtrack: "hype boy", newjeans inspiration: I love thinking about love languages (little disclaimer that these are all obviously just my opinion)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
percy jackson
giving: acts of service
how many times has this guy risked his life to save the world? percy jackson is a true hero, always putting himself in harm’s way to protect those around him, such as when he chose the prophecy to protect nico. he always takes risks to protect his loved ones, and he constantly puts others’ needs above his own.
receiving: quality time
I guess I based this off of percy spending a bunch of time with rachel before last olympian. but demigods are in constant danger, and percy would cherish every moment he spends with his partner because, unfortunately, you never know when it could be the last. I also thought about acts of service, since he was really grateful when annabeth and grover wanted to go with him on that quest in lightning thief.
jason grace
giving: acts of service
jason’s a giver. he literally joined the fifth cohort to bring back their glory. he sacrificed himself for piper (rest in peace jason, you deserved better) and his whole life has been about serving camp jupiter and later, camp half-blood too.
receiving: physical touch
this might be kind of controversial. I just think jason’s been in such a strict, intense environment since he was a toddler that he’s definitely touch-starved. he probably melts at any physical contact with his partner. I also thought about words of affirmation because he’s always been held to such high expectations, he’d really need someone just telling him they love him.
leo valdez
giving: gift giving
lowkey I put gift giving because too many people were getting acts of service. but genuinely I think leo would love making little trinkets and machines and giving them to his partner. he’s not great at being vulnerable with words or touch, so he shows his love through little actions. similarly, acts of service is also definitely a love language of his; think of everything he did to help calypso after all, even though I hate that ship.
receiving: words of affirmation
this is probably the one I’m most certain about. let’s be honest, leo’s been through so much shit, he’s been called so much shit, that he just needs someone to appreciate and love him and tell him that. plus, he’s so used to rejection that one “I love you” will send him into a spiral for days on end.
frank zhang
giving: physical touch
not entirely sure about this one, I need to reread heroes of olympus. but I bet frank would give the best hugs. you’d feel so safe and warm wrapped up in frank’s arms, and I feel like he’d be the most likely to be physically affectionate with others out of pretty much all the riordanverse characters.
receiving: words of affirmation
the second one I’m most certain about. frank is quite sensitive and definitely needs praise. not needs as in he’s an attention seeker, but needs as in he blushes bright red and smiles super wide when someone praises him. it just makes him feel so warm and fuzzy inside.
luke castellan
giving: acts of service
luke is like the embodiment of the statement “a hero would sacrifice you for the world, but a villain would sacrifice the world for you”. he did everything that he did in order to build a better world; I genuinely believe he thought what he was doing was right for the greater good. and he brought back the titan lord and fought a war for a cause he believed in--what lengths would he go to to protect his partner?
receiving: words of affirmation
luke’s never received any sort of praise or recognition; it’s part of why he resented the gods so much in the first place. if he could have someone with him just to pick him up when he’s down, to encourage him and shower him with praise and love, he’d be so happy. although I like to think he’s a touch-starved baby who’s really clingy with his partner too.
nico di angelo
giving: quality time
nico’s not a talker, he’d much rather listen or sit in silence with his partner. spending a lot of time with his partner would let nico feel closer to them. there’s a special sort of connection and understanding that comes from shared experiences. acts of service was also another contender. nico would do everything for those he loves. take bianca, for example, and how hard nico tried to bring her back in battle of the labyrinth.
receiving: physical touch
another touch-starved one. he was taken out of time for seventy years, came back and lost his sister in like five days, went through two wars, had to deal with coming to terms with his sexuality; the poor guy has been through tartarus and back (literally). poor nico. someone give him a hug. I also thought about words of affirmation, since nico constantly struggles with being isolated and would probably really benefit from some reassurance and support.
will solace
giving: acts of service
I mean, he’s literally a healer. he does everything for others. enough said, really. he puts others’ wellbeing first, and in the process sometimes overlooks himself and his own needs. which leads to. . .
receiving: acts of service
will is so used to people taking care of him that he never asks for help when he needs it. the little things, like helping him out when he’s tired, is the way to his heart. no one’s ever really looked out for him since he arrived at camp half-blood, and he had to take over the apollo cabin when he was barely a teenager. it’d be nice for him to have someone take care of him for a change.
ethan nakamura
giving: acts of service
I don’t know why so many characters have acts of service as a giving love language. maybe it’s because they’re heroes and fight and do stuff for their respective causes, so naturally they give off a giving or take-action vibe? but anyway, ethan fought and gave his life in order to gain his mother--and himself, honestly--more recognition. he takes action for those he cares about and always wants to defend his beliefs and help his friends, even though his ways may be a little questionable.
receiving: words of affirmation
really similar to luke. ethan’s always been undervalued and overlooked. he just needs validation and support. encouragement and praise would help him finally feel acknowledged, accepted, and valued.

Percy, Nico, and Jason should have fallen into Tartarus together, while Annabeth should have remained with the rest of the Seven in House of Hades. Please hear me out.
1.
For one, this way Tartarus would have been much more intimidating. At least in my opinion, it has pretty much lost this aspect, especially after Sun and Star. Tartarus is the prison of the titans, a place so scary and so dangerous, that only the best of the best can make it through. Homer described it as being as far beneath Hades as heaven is above earth.  Overcoming it should be the ultimate challenge.
Yes, Annabeth is smart, incredibly so, but, I feel like, because Rick wanted her to be useful in Tartarus, he used a lot of cheap tricks in her POVs to get her and Percy over obstacles, which seem a bit too simple to really work against beings like Nyx. This took the heaviness away from them being down there and felt at times even anticlimactic. Don’t get me wrong, again, because I know this is a sensitive subject, Annabeth is smart, has a strong resolve and is great at hand to hand combat, but that’s it. And, in my opinion, that should not be enough to overcome Tartarus. If it would have taken a child of each of the big three working together to only barely make it out, it would have definitely reinforced that status, and also the gods’ belief that such children can become too powerful.
2.
Secondly, Percy not letting go of Nico’s hand, would have done wonders for the development of their relationship and for each character’s individual arc.
Imagine, Nico dangling from the edge, instead of Annabeth. Nico, who had only days prior pretended like he didn’t know Percy, who is so full of self-hatred, he thinks the entirety of camp half-blood hates him, who is already weakened by being imprisoned in the jar, and who is scared out of his mind by the idea of being alone in Tartarus again.
Imagine Nico staring up at Percy, clasping his hand, while Percy looks up at Annabeth, the love of his life, whom he had been separated from for months. Imagine Nico being convinced, that Percy is going to let Nico fall down to stay by her side.
But Percy refuses to let go.
He refuses to let go, even after Nico tells him he should do it, and decides instead to fall together with him into the worst place on earth, just so Nico doesn’t have to endure it alone again. It would have further reinforced Percy’s self-inflicted role as Nico’s protector which he already had in the original five books and his fatal flaw of loyalty. To Nico, it would have given him a worse inner conflict about having a crush on him, which could have been revolved while they were travelling together.  The confession scene would have been much more impactful and healthier, if it would have come from Nico himself, and if he and Percy would have had a more in depth talk about it.
And if Jason would have flown after them in a moment of desperation, it would have reinforced the sense of loyalty and protectiveness that he had already shown when he had saved Piper at the grand canyon. The scene with Polybotes could have also taken place in Tartarus instead, and him and Percy working together, and putting all of their differences aside would have been a much more interesting dynamic than the stupid, out of character, rivalry bit they’ve got going on in Mark of Athena.
And, to be honest, just having Nico, Percy and Jason go all out, would probably be one of the coolest scenes in the entire Riordan verse.
3.
All the while, Annabeth could have really cemented her role as a leader. I love her character, but to say that she has more leadership capabilities than Percy is laughable to me after reading the original five Percy Jackson books. These books are, after all, about Percy’s hero’s journey from an inexperienced kid to a smart, powerful and wise hero and the leader of camp half blood.  Annabeth, in comparison, shows relatively little of that. (Obviously this makes sense, considering that the books are from Percy’s POV and revolve around him, but the complete switch-up to saying that Annabeth is the natural choice as leader of the seven just felt a bit out of the blue to me in Mark of Athena)
Her leading the rest, in a moment of such a tragedy and remaining strong would have really reinforced the strong resolve that she had already shown in holding the sky in titan’s curse and in remaining steadfast despite all the horrible things that happened to her with her father’s rejection and luke’s betrayal. Annabeth’s relationship to Piper, Leo, Hazel and Frank, which is painfully underdeveloped in the books, could have also been given some much needed attention. Like, I can’t remember a single scene where she and Hazel, or she and Leo really talk to one another, which is a shame, because they could have had really interesting dynamics with one another.
It also would have also been a powerful statement about Percy’s and Annabeth’s relationship, if they, while separated, still believed in each other and trusted that the other person would get the job done.
Without powerhouses like Jason and Percy on board of the Argo II, Hazel and Frank could have really shone as individual fighters. Hazel is probably the second, or third most powerful demigod in the entire franchise, but barely gets any attention, and for a guy, who is apparently so powerful his life had to be tied to a stick, Frank seems, outside of one or two scenes, also pretty underwhelming.
Without Jason, Piper’s and Leo’s friendship could have also gotten some more attention, and generally the reunion scene at the end of House of Hades could have been much more impactful with these character dynamics. I mean, Hazel, and Nico being reunited, Jason, leo and Piper, and Percy and Annabeth, and Percy, Hazel and Frank.
One of the biggest problems, I have with Heroes of Olympus is the extreme focus on romantic relationships. Having some couples be separated from each other like this, would have also solved this and given the only couple still together, Frank and Hazel, more room to develop.

My two height hcs idk Rick is a bit confunsing
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If I remember correctly it's mentioned that Nico is taller than Leo
I took into account that Leo can wear Georgina's clothes, and if I were to be honest I would say he is 155 cm or so (since she must be around 130-140 cm tall) but hm idk
Annabeth is taller than Piper (I guess) but also shorter than percy
I'm not sure if Jason and Percy's height difference is like, very visible. I think Jason looks taller because of his weight.
The average height of a 13/14 years old girl is 155 to 163, but I like to think Hazel is really short

I desperately need to organize my thoughts but if I don’t get this out now I will forget it, so take some vague circular incoherent ramblings about Jason motherfucking Grace.
Jason Grace has this weird kind bluntness about him that I desperately need to study. He’s so normal in a fucked up way. Almost regular. Almost an Average Kid. Brutally honest and kind and pragmatic. He wakes up on a bus with no memory, holding hands with a girl, and he’s immediately like “What the fuck. Who are you people. Where am I. Who am I?” Doesn’t even try to play along to figure out what’s happening.
One of the first things he says to Leo is “You’re weird.” Just “You’re weird.”
Jason is judgy as fuck!! Like!! Such a judgmental motherfucker!!! “If Leo is his best friend, then his life is seriously messed up.” Like!!! What the fuck!!! Be nicer to the man you fall madly in love with!!!
He sees Mean Kid (monster) Dylan and immediately goes “fuck that dude.” (“Jason hated him instantly.”) He even mentally makes fun of the guy’s outfit!!! And he roasts the shit out of Dylan’s fucking shiny ass teeth!! He sees two girls being mean to Piper and he literally, despite not knowing where he is or why he’s there, tries to fight them!! And Leo is the only thing holding him back from immediately throwing hands!!
Mr. “I can’t even take Leo out for burgers bc he’ll set the restaurant on fire.” After the 1 (one) time Leo gets too excited and bursts into flame. (Leo not being able to control his powers as a consequence of finally starting to use them after years of repression is something i WILL be talking about another time)
Jason is a judgy, brutally honest bitch. Like, he’s kind and good natured and strong. But years of being raised by wolves, strict deadly Romans, and being praetor have made him a little bit harsh. Rough around the edges. Just a bit off. This is the dude who was like “hm. Yeah I know Nico’s ur boy but… world is ending. So.” He’s been raised to be pragmatic. Make snap judgements. Be harsh. Be deadly. Like, reading his PoV is so different from the fandom characterization.
Jason is wittier, snappier, and wayyy more regular teenage boyish than I thought. He just has that Roman Demigod Edge to him… the part of him that was trained to scream “MONSTERS! MIST! MAGIC! DANGER!!!” even when he had no memory. I need to study this boy so badly. He’s fucking fascinating.
Bc for all his judgement, he grows so quickly attached to people. Like, it doesn’t take long for him to be fiercely loyal to Piper and Leo and Camp Halfblood. I think that’s because they accepted and loved an imperfect him, and while Expectations were still there, expectations he’s been haunted by his whole life, they’re lesser. Bc Piper and Leo don’t know shit fuck about the mythical world. And the rest of the seven are just as strong and capable as Jason, so he has no need to lead. I don’t know. Jason Grace drives me crazy. Marching to his destiny like a good little soldier. No other options for a son of Jupiter. Have to be strongest, have to be praetor, have to lead a legion-
He loves Nico like a best friend. He adores and admires Leo’s wit and talent and smarts, something that is mentioned a lot in his POV. (While also pointing out Leo’s bullshit.) He envies and admires Percy’s strength. He loves Piper’s brashness and heart. He loves them all. I don’t know. He’s quick to judge but he’s even quicker to change his mind. I forgot where I was going with this. Jason Grace has always been a hero at heart and a soldier since age 4 and I think that’s why some people think he’s boring. He’s trained to be serious and stuff. We don’t get to see him goof around very much, except for with Leo, and Leo does most of the goofs. And I would love to know who Jason Grace, judgmental pragmatic kindhearted bitch, would be if he just got to be a regular teenager.
And I think that’s why he loved camp Halfblood. It gave him half a chance at being half normal. What’s one more big three kid? There’s no strict orders or rules to follow or shape him there. But unfortunately, Jason, hero at heart, soldier since age 4, trained to be selfless, trained to give everything up for the greater good, was never going to get a happy ending. Never get a chance at what Percy Jackson found. Being a demigod kills people. And Jason was one from birth, to his very core.
I think part of him would be relieved, at that. Knowing that Percy Jackson, hero with a happy ending, is someone he will never be. Never overcome or surpass. Yeah, it’s the exact reason they’re rivals, too similar to not be compared, yeah it hurts his pride and goes against everything he was raised to be, and yeah he’s had a few silent breakdowns over it, but there’s relief in knowing he’d never win. Being in Percy’s shadow at Camp Halfblood means he can be out of the spotlight. Die a hero’s death while knowing there is no other option. There’s peace in that.
Anyway New Rome represents heteronormativity and Camp Halfblood is Jason figuring out he’s gay. I will not take criticism.

Enemies to lovers with Leo Valdez
Pairing(s): Leo Valdez x Gn!Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If anything it probs stemmed from a misunderstanding
Maybe you were cranky the first two times he ever approached you
And perhaps you may have taken it out on him
And maybe just maybe he thought u were those stereotypical condescending people
Basically what ensued from then on was just you two attacking each other verbally each time you ran into each other
But then you’re officially introduced to him by either Percy or Annabeth or anyone else that’s part of the 7 that’s close to you
He’d be especially shocked if it’s Piper or Jason who introduces you two to eachother
Of course that doesn’t automatically solve anything and you’re both total assholes to each other still
Leo is complaining about you and how could any of his friends also be yours?
You feel the same exact way
And unfortunately this is a case of forced proximity as is all my hcs because I’m an uncreative bitch
Maybe it’s just me but I’d imagine constant bickering and making faces would be a bit hard to ignore and go unnoticed
So they all agree to force you two to get along
So you’re on the Argo ll and are forced to clean the stables
(Before the Athena Parthenos is put there obv)
It’s not messy messy but it’s still something
You two both finally agreed to be quiet
But then he gets almost thrown out the window by the ship getting rocked by a monster or something
And so you have to save him by obligation
You two are literally hanging out the window and Leo is yelling like crazy bro
Eventually you bring him back and he thanks you
It was done reluctantly- you make sure he knows that
Plus the situation gives you material to make fun of him for 💀
Then some time after that you’re fighting some daily monsters and he (despite not rlly being a fighter) helps you out by firing some of the weapons on the Argo
This incident spawns this unspoken alliance??
Literally everyone else is made aware of it too and even they’re confused
But honestly at least you’re not constantly at each others throats anymore
Instances where you saved each others asses continued from then on out
It got to the point where you saved eachother so often that you became literal 4lifers
Like genuinely enjoying each other’s company despite the occasional off handed remarks
There was obvious tension that you were both teased for by your individual friends
Even couch Hedge acknowledged it 💀
And youd both deny it
I mean it was the obvious choice
But there had always been tension between you two if you’re being honest
Like if someone asked you if you thought Leo was cute , well let’s not say you’d say he was, just that you really couldn’t deny it
And so your interactions and dynamic continued all the way until the prophecy that started this quest came to an end
And so did you interacting with Leo
He was dead, and despite having liked him, you’d never be able to tell him.
That’s something you had come to accept, and something you realized you’d never get the chance to admit to him
Until you could.
Leo appears back at camp with Calypso in tow
Let’s just say Leo felt ok about her and saved her cuz he’s a good guy and she went along cuz she wanted an escape)
Anyway like everyone else you line up to hit him
Ain’t no way you’re running to him when there’s so many other ppl infront 💀
Gods forbid YOU end up being the one that gets jumped
Even from the good amount of distance you’re away from him you can still very much see his- what can be best as described- upset demeanor
Why he looked that way? You didn’t know and couldn’t tell even if held at gunpoint
Well anyways eventually you end up face to face with him and his expression can’t even be described with just a few words
So ill try anyway
Hes absolutely star struck and, in truth, made breathless from the sight of you alone
I mean with the way Leo looks at you, you’d think he spotted his only true want in this world.
The guy doesn’t say anything at all but then he sorta gains consciousness (?)
He tries to hug you but then hesitates- tries again/ then hesitates
Before he could do anything else you slap the hell out of him 💀
The act is honestly so violate and loud it was genuinely startling
Some would say that you jumped him that day of his return but what did they know??
And then you hugged him
A deep, emotionally charged hug
All the days you had spent mourning him, being tortured by his death that you couldn’t help but feel was avoidable despite the prophecy-
And yet you couldn’t help but melt into the hug
Obviously awkwardness follows after- and for a good while after too
But in the end you two end up together (per advice from emmie and Jo once Apollo casually mentioned the undefined relationship between you two as defense against a remark Leo had made)
And after Apollo is done at the waystation (and you’re not already involved there)Leo will ask if you’d want to stay there together and go to school and be “normal” teens.
The answer is up to you, but we all know what you’re gonna choose
Cmon you’re reading this so you’re obviously down bad 💀

so i’ve talked before about how i saw the name emilio appear in a fic for leo’s name and now i accept that as canon
and that gave me an idea
valgrace soulmate au where your soulmate’s first name is written on your skin
jason has emilio written on him and he has no idea who that is. he doesn’t seem to consider that leo could be a nickname and that the way the name is written matches his best friend’s handwriting
leo has jason written on him. meanwhile, leo is so used to going by his nickname that he forgets his soulmate would have emilio on them, not leo. so, when jason doesn’t bring up the fact that they’re soulmates (which he would since he’s so incredibly honest) he thinks either it’s one sided or that some other jason is his soulmate (who knows, maybe jason todd is real)
so, just a big misunderstanding that they eventually figure out. maybe piper full names him in an argument and that’s how jason finds out

dating jason grace hcs! (ᴗ͈ ˬᴗ͈)ꕤ.゚
pairing jason grace x child of hermes!reader summary based off this request !! an lin manuel as hermes no matter how much i pretend to hate youre iconic and i actually love you
Tumblr media
"okokokok" and "lalalala" who ???
people were so surprised when you started dating since youre literal opposites ?!?!
youre so chill and laid back and fun
jason straightens up so quick and salutes if somebody yells attention
but since he's met you, he's definitely relaxed a little more
he's learnt to accept the fact that he can actually relax at times and just enjoy himself ?!?!?!? (shocking, right)
and you were the one who taught him that !!
it honestly started when your first met
cause he was training by himself after lessons had finsihed
you were walking around with your siblings, just passing by and decided to ask him if he wanted to go to the fireworks show that was being held that night ♡
cause like youd seen him around camp before, always helping someone out with someone, and youd be lying if you said you didnt think he was cute 😋 (i sound like a nine year old omg bye)
so what better time to ask than now !
i could lie and say he was super chill about it but lets be honest he was already smitten before you could even finish the question
dropped his sword, face all red and everythinggg 😵‍💫
(you tease him about this now, but he just fights it with a corny "guess you stole my heart" that makes you cringe and roll your eyes yet still smile)
he tried to act all cool and say he'd think about it when in reality he was already getting ready to run to the aphrodite cabin and ask piper for help
i love tlh trio so much i just know jason would be panicking about the whole thing and piper's trying to reassure him + give genuine advice while leo is just messing around 😭
he did manage to get some tips and you ended spending the whole nights talking and laughing instead of actually watching the fireworks ♡♡
he walked you back to your cabin and by then you both established big ol' crushes on each other (aw ya cuties)
the amount of teasing you got from your cabin that night was actually crazy though
you were last to get in that night and entered to a whole chorus of 'oooooo's
a few thrown pillows and 'connor i swear to the gods i will push you off the lava wall-'s later and you were finally able to go to sleep though ♡
the teasing and jokes never stop
even when you (finally) started dating
its your cabin's love language honestly
your younger siblings are OBSESSED with jason
hes actually so good with kids bye
he just 'treats them the way he wished he was treated as a kid :(
his words not mine i dont talk like im giving an anti-bullying assembly
but like he loves playing with them
instant besties !
he even helped them prank you one time :o
he felt so devious doing it good lord
real i was a bad girl i did some bad things yaknow
literally all he did was distract you as your siblings taped a balloon full of water and got a dart pin ready to pop it when you walked into the door
but he was all giggly when the prank succeeded
only for like 5 seconds cause then he was helping you dry off and apologizing
you didnt minddddd, it was fun seeing him act like a "rebel"
okay call me crazy but like trackstar power couple
hermes kids are fast, known fact, evidence? tlt musical said so
and i feel like jupiter/zeus kids would be too!! like moving at the speed of lightning hyperbole... please tell me you see the vision
but like being able to use that as an excuse to get some time away from people... the scandal.
jason telling the group he's with (not necessarily close friends, he knows he can just tell them that he's going out with you) that he's going out for a run
youll be flushed when you return-
when really he's ditching them to go hang out with you
cause this man can NOT say no. he's a people pleaser man it's hardwired into our brains
and they'll think it's normal cause like jasons weird
why question the kid who likes musicals and history
do you see where this is going.
jason taking you to watch opening night of hamilton cause he's been bouncing off the walls for it and really wanted to show you so he'd have someone to talk to about it after :)
it started off fun!!
you were both really enjoying the beginning! well, the first minute and twenty seconds of it at least
cause after that you lost your shit :D
your dad was literally on stage, a few hundred feet away from you, acting as a founding father
the rest of the show you were internally freaking out, questioning everything
jason had no clue, not until you told him during intermission
had the AUDACITY to say "...and thats how you were born" after the traumatizing experience of say no to this
after the show you chased you dad down on the street as he was trying to get 'home'
jason was lowkey giggling the whole time like he was not taking this serious at alllll
but hey he got to meet your dad !!
hermes likes jason, thinks he's a very distinguished gentleman
jason likes hermes, thinks he's pretty good at rapping
at least one of you gained something from that experience

From 0 to 10, which grades would you give to PJO ships?
Hi anon! This is such a fun question! Thanks for sending it! I tried to choose the most popular ships because there are so many variations of them, but if you are curious about a specific one that I didn't mention, feel free to ask!
Percabeth (Percy x Annabeth)
3/10 I give it a 3 only because in PJO they are cute but in HOO they are full of red flags and I hate what Rick did with them. I feel like their goals for the future do not align at all, and it is as if they together because that is what they are used to and not because they are in love. It seems like Percy is always trying to accommodate to what Annabeth wants and I think in the long run that would make him miserable, and those feeling will make worst a relationship that is already fragile.
In the future he is going to resent her so bad, because we already see that he doesn't feel comfortable joking/talking about some topics because Annabeth gets mad, now add him feeling like he has to follow everything she says or do just to be "the perfect boyfriend". It is a recipe for disaster
AnnieLuke (Annabeth x Luke)
1/10 this one is complicated. The thing is that I understand the appeal of a childhood besfrieds to lovers, I love those, BUT Luke never saw Annabeth as anything but a little sister. That + the fact that their relationship became toxic, it just make me uncomfortable. Sorry Annie, but this one is not the one, at least in my opinion (and in Luke's lmao)
Perluke (Percy x Luke)
4/10 I see you fans of friends to enemies to lovers or friends to lovers to enemies, I get it, but to me this one lacks that je ne sais quoi to make it appealing. But I can understand why some people like it. And I am part of the team "Percy had a crush on Luke yet he was the last to know"
Percico (Percy x Nico)
10/10 they are my OTP. I like how they complement each other. They have the history, the angst, the complexity. I like the dynamic of two characters who went through a lot, but deal with trauma in opposite ways.
They are ride or die for each other, but they keep that information a secret from each other, which makes their relationship really fun.
Most importantly Nico thinks Percy is cool AF and he adores him just the way he is. Percy is one of the few people who tried to get close to Nico and to understand him.
Their empathetic nature would make this relationship super sweet, tender and calm. For example, if one of them need to rest or are stressed out, they can go to the other and they will know if they need to talk or just want to nap.
Bonus points because their relationship with each other's parents would make their relationship even more interesting and fun!
Perachel (Percy x Rachel)
9/10 love this one! My second fave Percy ship! This is Percy's loss, to be honest. Their chemistry is super natural and they are always having fun! Rachel seems like a low-maintenance partner, so being with her must be pretty easy. She would not make drama if Percy can't be there with her for some time because he has to save the world or whatever. I think he can chill with her, and just like with Nico, Percy just being Percy is enough
Valgrace (Leo x Jason)
9/10 What I like about them is that both are insecure about themselves but always see the best in each other. Jason is Leo's hype man and Leo is always thinking about how impressive Jason is. Where Leo is chaotic, Jason is calm. Where Jason is anxious, Leo is chill. They just screams healthy couple
Jiper (Jason x Piper)
2/10 the problem here is how the relationship started. Both of them are really kind to each other, but their romance is based on a lie, which neither of them is to blame for, but it just feels wrong. To me, after knowing how their relationship started, Piper seems to like Jason enough to stay a couple, and Jason was too kind and just rolled with it, and that is not good reason to stay with someone in my opinion.
Liper (Leo x Piper)
9/10 shout out to @maygirlsposts to make me see the light with this one! Before, it never crossed my mind they could be a couple, but gosh! They are so cute together!
Piper and Leo genuinely have a connection, they share sense of humor, they have been through difficult stuff together and are empathetic towards the other's problems. They have a healthy balance between being chaotic when they are chilling, and having the ability to have honest conversations when necessary. They are overall wholesome AF!
Extra points for being the healthy version of Hephaestus x Aphrodite
Jasico (Jason x Nico)
10/10 this one is not my ship, only because I prefer them as besties, but I see the vision of their shippers; and I give them a 10 because they are probably the healthiest ship Nico has, to be honest.
Jason is always so patient with Nico, and sincere yet kind. Is great to see Nico feeling at ease with him. Jason has the stability Nico needs in a relationship.
Both bring the best of each other, and push the other to do and be the best they can be!
Jeyna (Jason x Reyna)
8/10 oh what could have been! The tragedy of the lost potential! They were too powerful together and Rick couldn't handle that.
They have history together and understand each other deeply. They are both strong mentally and physically, so they could be the standard of a demigod couple. They are both healthy people on their own, so their relationship would naturally be nice.
Their love story could have been so interesting, like: separated by war and the gods, reunited by fate!
To tell you a secret, I see them as Nico's unofficial parents/older siblings. Basically, they both adopted him separately, protect him, and genuinely care about him. They would have been one hell of parents lmao
Jercy (Jason x Percy)
6/10 this one is fun! Again it is not my ship, but I like their dynamic. They give "Two bros, chilling in the hot tub, five feet apart cause they’re not gay" energy
Frazel (Frank x Hazel)
9/10 this is the only canon ship I like! Frank is super sweet and Hazel is always so kind, both are just wholesome AF! Like two teddy bears! I like that they started out as friends and both were seen as the "weird kids", that makes me think their bond is just genuine!
Lazel (Leo x Hazel)
5/10 they are cute, I just prefer them as friends. And not gonna lie, the fact that Hazel's ex is Leo's grandpa makes them kinda weird to me as a couple.
As friends will give them a 8/10, they need more time to get closer, but they already are super fun!
Fraleo (Frank x Leo)
6/10 They are funny! Like wholesome-awkward meets wholesome-chaotic. They just make me laugh because of how cute they would be, completely adorable! Too pure for this world!
I like this, but personally I like my ships with more angst, so I prefer them as friends. But you guys, their shippers, you must be the cutest, most wholesome people out there!
Leo x Frank x Hazel
7/10 I see the vision, but as you can see, I like Leo being their bestie instead of in a romance. But I understand! What's better than a love triangle? An OT3!
Pipabeth (Piper x Annabeth)
8/10 I like them a lot! This is the ship I like for Annabeth. In general I think Annabeth seems more comfortable with women. It feels like Rick wrote her as a lesbian-who-doesn't-know-she-is-one, but did so whithout realizing. Her chemistry with Piper (and with Reyna) just comes naturally and she looks like she is having fun!
Piper's fun personality complements Annabeth's logical one. Piper is all feelings, Annabeth is all brains, love that!
Also, just imagine their mothers' reactions when they find out they are dating!
Pipercy (Piper x Percy)
5/10 this is fun! But it needs that something else to make it super appealing to me, you know. Both are crack heads so they would be hilarious and a menace together! I can see the appeal! For me, I just prefer them as besties, like "Prepare for trouble! And make it double!"
Solangelo (Nico x Will)
3/10 in canon, 10/10 in fanon
First of all, can we talk about how fucking ethereal their ship name is? The ship name gets an ∞/10!
Now, the ship. I will start saying that I LOVE ships that are opposites attracts, but sadly this ship is a bit like Percabeth, but better. Let me explain. The concept is there, but at the moment of writing their romance, Rick kinda sucks. Genuinely think fic writers do a better job writing them.
For starters I have a problem with Nico being outed by Cupid. And I do not like at all that he doesn't have time to process that trauma, neither his crush on Percy and the heartbreak that comes after his rejection. Will is shoehorned into the narrative because "Nico needs a boyfriend" and Will is the only character available. He was a glorified extra.
This takes me to that I feel Rick thinks a relationship will solve all of your problems. I firmly believe that Nico needed time alone to recover from all of his trauma, which is a lot. But Rick's solution for this kind of stuff is "get a partner!". (Leo and Piper also suffered of this)
Is like: "Did you live through World War II? Your mom died and you were immediately stuck in an hotel for maybe one or two months? When you finally got out, were you in another century? Your sister died one week later? Years passed and you lived on your own for a while and felt scared and isolated from everyone you knew? Did you fight another war? Went to Tartarus and came back and then get kidnapped? You almost died, again? Had to fight again? Don't worry, having a boyfriend will solve all your problems!"
And I HATE IT! This is not Will's fault, it's Rick's. So I feel bad for not loving Solangelo in canon, but I really think Nico needs time for himself, he will have time for boyfriends in the future after he gets in a better head space.
Conclusion Will and Nico deserve better writers.
Once again thanks Anon! Would love to know what you think about this!

JASON Realizes He's Got a Problem
Heeeello everyone! I've got a little tiny thing for you all of Jason realizing he's got a massive crush on Leo post Heroes of Juno. Technically, you don't have to have read HoJ for this to make sense, you just have to live in a world where Piper and Jason never dated. Also! I haven't posted this to Ao3 yet, so you all are getting special privileges. >;3c Have fun!
Jason liked Bunker Nine. It was noisy and crowded and just so lived in in a way that Jason couldn’t quite describe. Part of him thought he would hate it, seeing as it was loud and claustrophobic and messy, but he found himself admiring those very traits. He liked being in the Bunker because he felt like he could do anything, be anyone. The Bunker didn’t hold him to any expectation, it just welcomed him with wide open arms and tucked him in close to its chest so that he could feel the very heartbeat of the place thrumming warm and fast under his cheek. He sighed deeply and burrowed his face down into his arms with a contented smile.
“You know, I’m beginning to think you aren’t listening to me.”
Jason half lifted his head and blinked until the blurriness of his vision faded a little bit. His eyes crossed and the image of Leo came into focus, his chin resting on his palm and his bushy eyebrows furrowed up in a pout like a pair of affectionate caterpillars. Jason blinked again. “Huh?”
Leo sighed dramatically. “I have said, like, three jokes, and you haven’t laughed at any of them.”
Jason felt his lips curl up a little bit and he squished his cheek back into his folded arms. “Were they funny jokes?”
“Doesn’t matter,” Leo informed him. “Your only job is to laugh at them anyway and make me feel good about myself.”
“I thought my job was to ‘stand there and pick up heavy stuff when I tell you to.’”
“Do you see any heavy stuff for you to pick up?”
Jason didn’t bother to lift his head, but he pointedly looked around at all of the machinery and equipment that surrounded them. “Do you want me to answer that?”
Leo’s pout from before deepened until his face caterpillars almost kissed. “That is not what I meant and you know it. I’m still in the planning stages for this boat, so there’s nothing for you to carry.”
Jason snorted and hid his face again. “Okay, sorry I was slacking, in that case. Ha ha, Leo, you’re so funny.”
Jason felt something bounce off his head, and he got the feeling Leo was throwing eraser bits at him. “You are such a dick. You need to quit hanging out with Piper.” Jason just hummed in affirmation and Leo went silent. They stayed like that for a moment before Leo called out softly, “Jace?”
Jason hummed again to show he was listening but didn’t look up until he felt Leo poking him. He heaved a heavy sigh and turned his head. Leo was right in front of him, their faces so close that their noses nearly brushed. Leo’s features were all puckered up and his lips were turned down in a tight frown, which made Jason frown right back at him. “Yeah, Leo?”
“What’s wrong?” Leo asked. When Jason just blinked at him, he cut his eyes to the side and shrank back a little self-consciously. “Sorry, it’s probably none of my business, I just thought you–”
“I don’t mind you asking,” Jason interrupted. “I’m just… confused about why you would, I guess? There’s really, really nothing wrong. Honest. What made you think there was?”
“It’s nothing; just a feeling. Forget about it,” Leo hedged, still refusing to look Jason in the eye. They were silent just long enough for Leo to realize Jason was definitely not going to forget about it, and he huffed. “You just– You’ve been, I dunno, distracted. Like, the past week every other time I’ve talked to you, you’ve just been zoned out staring at me. Last time someone was acting all weird, it turned out Piper was having prophetic dreams about her dad being kidnapped by a giant, so I figured I should ask.”
Jason’s frown deepened. He kinda knew what Leo was talking about, but he hadn’t been zoning out. He was distracted, though. Every time Leo spoke, Jason gave him his undivided attention, but that attention wasn’t always on what Leo was saying. Instead, Jason found himself fixated on the little things like the way Leo’s nose scrunched up when he smiled just right, or how his curls bounced around his head like soft puffy clouds and captured the sunlight like a halo, or the way his crooked teeth flashed with every word he spoke, or the shape of the grease stain smeared over his chin, or–
He shook his head and sat up, realizing he’d been doing it again. “Sorry, man. I’m just tired. I didn’t sleep well last night.”
Leo looked startled. “Wait, that’s it? Why didn’t you say so? I would have let you nap, if you wanted. You don’t have to hang out with me, you know.”
Jason shrugged noncommittally. “I wanted to, though. I’d way rather hang out with you than nap.”
Leo ducked his head, his cheeks a little darker than before. “Oh. Okay, then.”
Neither of them said anything else, so Jason hunched back over the table and let his eyes slide shut, content to just bask in Leo’s warm presence while he rested. Leo fiddled with whatever it was he was working on for a while before he suddenly slammed his hands on the table and stood, making Jason snap to attention. “Alright! That’s it!”
 “What’s it?” Jason asked.
“We’re leaving,” Leo said decisively.
“What? Why? I thought you were in the middle of something.”
Leo shrugged casually. “I’ll still be in the middle of it when I get back. It’ll be fine.” Jason’s frown just hardened, so Leo grinned. “C’mon, big guy. We can go to the strawberry fields.”
Jason felt his entire being perk up at the idea, but then he narrowed his eyes suspiciously. “You don’t even like the strawberry fields. Why do you wanna go there?”
“I like the strawberry fields just fine when I don’t have to work in them,” Leo argued. Jason continued to stare until Leo deflated a bit. “Okay, fine. Look, it’s obvious that you need a nap, and I’m not gonna just sit here and watch you fuck up your back when there’s a perfectly nice sunbeam for you to curl up in somewhere out there. That’s just messed up, dude. C’mon. Come to the strawberry fields with me. It’ll be nice.”
Jason gaped at Leo for a moment. “But-But your boat.”
“Not to be embarrassing, but I do actually care about you more than a boat. You know that, right?”
Jason felt his cheeks go scarlet and he stared down at his fists clenched on the table and bit back a smile. “I– Yeah. Okay, then. Strawberry fields. If you want.”
Leo twisted around and ducked his head until Jason could see the wide, deliberately goofy grin he wore. “I very much do want. Let’s go, Jace.”
Jason’s face went even warmer and his heart thumped high in the back of his throat. He was suddenly very, very glad that he’d been given a second chance after his run-in with Juno and her true form. If he hadn’t, he’d never have gotten to see the way Leo’s eyes shone bright with warm affection and amusement when he looked at him. He’d never have gotten the opportunity to see that smile so close up. He’d never have realized just how much he wanted to cup those smudgy cheeks up in his palms and press a barrage of kisses on every inch of that wonderful face.
Oh, Jason thought to himself as his brain finally caught up to his feelings. He blinked at Leo in shock for a moment, but his desires didn’t even begin to fade. The more he thought about it, the more familiar those desires felt. They weren’t new, which meant that somewhere along the line, he’d managed to trip and fall in love with his best friend, and now he was stuck laying face down in the dirt with this realization.
Well, fuck.
