There seems to be some misunderstanding about what "manipulation" actually is.
Manipulation does not need to be pre-meditated, nor does if need to involve lying. Sometimes, people can manipulate others without even knowing that they're doing so due to things like poor communication or avoidance.
Manipulation often does involve these things, but at the core, manipulation is when your actions, or lack of actions, have harmful influence over someone else as a means of getting what you want.
This is exactly what Orym did with Laudna. Yes, I do think this decision, in part, was clouded by the fact that Bor'Dor was working for Ludinus and clouded by the fact that he wants retribution for what Ludinus did to his family, but at the end of the day, fully aware of what he was doing, his actions (nodding his head at Laudna when she looked up at Orym to see if she should kill Bor'Dor, something that she very well may not have done had he decided to answer otherwise and remind her of who she is post-Delilah) had harmful influence (Delilah potentially being back due to Laudna giving in to that darkness) over Laudna as a means of Orym getting what he wanted (Bor'Dor dead and Delilah possibly back to aid them in defeating Ludinus).
And yes, Laudna did, at the end of the day, decide to listen to Orym and kill Bor'Dor, something she didn't have to do regardless of what Orym said, but the key aspect of manipulation is INFLUENCE. Orym had influence over Laudna in that moment... if he didn't, she wouldn't have looked to him for guidance, and he decided to make a decision that could potentially harm Laudna as a means of getting what he wanted.

3 Months later
Vy gently pats Lucas’s stomach, smiling at him. Much like Vy had thought, his form had gone back to its normal glimmer after just a few days, but much to everyone’s surprise, the eyes did not. He still had the golden eyes, with the small half moon shape in them, which surprised everyone, Vy now guessing it might not change back until the egg was out.
Vy: Another all clear. Both you and the egg are in perfect shape and health. -he chuckled hearing the sigh from River- Anything you're pondering? Lucas: Well, ehm.. How is it to well..-he chuckled nervously- Vy: Ah, to give birth to an egg? Well, it's honestly a little uncomfortable, but not as bad as you’d think. The shell around it is still a bit soft, it only fully hardens when it’s out. Lucas: Ah.. well good to know. Vy: Now you go get dressed and I’ll write up everything so you have it, and then you can head back home. He watched Lucas head to the small room he had where he could get dressed again, then he turned to River. Who felt a bit like shrinking under the watchful eye of Vy, yet the words he had been holding back slipped out anyways

Uh... 😱😱😱
empathy gets treated as this universally positive thing but we forget that empathy often equals pain, and pain often activates fight or flight behaviors. a lot of my most asshole moments as a person were motivated by a twinge of empathy that was too painful to engage with in that moment, so i became aggressive and mean, NOT compassionate and helpful

tbh i think the funniest phenomena that's been happening in the last couple years is "youtuber, having gone too deep into the research hole, has been made an investigative journalist against their will"

i do think there is a degree to which certain kinds of Instagram activists have convinced themselves that traumatising themselves in solidarity is a useful form of activism. "I'm having nightmares and crying so much I want to be sick because of all these videos of dying children but I can't look away while people are getting hurt" I mean don't you think you'd be able to help more if you weren't having nightmares and crying all the time?? don't you think this is a one-way trip to burnout? don't you think maybe increasing the amount of trauma going around is counterproductive? I dunno bro there's something to be said for bearing witness but there comes a point where you gotta look hard at yourself and go "am I helping, or am I just making myself suffer so I don't feel guilty for not suffering while somebody else is experiencing bad shit"

"I live in a red state my vote doesn't ma-"
If your vote didn't matter they wouldn't try so hard to make it harder to vote in red states. Voting in red states can turn them into swing states like Georgia, Ohio, and Arizona. And voting in blue states can keep them from becoming swing states.
California used to be Red. Texas was Blue long ago. Florida was once a swing state. Obama took Indiana but it's gone redder since. Ten years ago Arizona and Georgia going blue was unthinkable.
Things change and we can make them change.
And that's before getting into more local elections. Turning cities blue, the state legislature.
Red states have flipped blue in recent years at those levels too.
Because people vote, and if we vote in high enough numbers we can turn a tight election into a walk in the park. If we vote in high enough numbers, we can turn a loss into a win. So many good things have happened in states where someone won by like 100 votes. (arizona is one)
