When I'm Older...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wanna live in New Orleans. Just for a little, if not forever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know life will take me elsewhere before then. I may stick around in my obscure little Midwestern town, perhaps venture out to California or Georgia (not that I quite want to be in any of these places, but I have a feeling I will need to for whatever purpose.) I find myself drawn more and more to it with every passing thought of the city. I feel an almost werewolf explosion of longing to even just visit and leave the experience at that. Any amount; I'll take any.
I just can't help but find the place horribly romanticized in my mind. A daydream of vampires, which I know to not exist, infest my veins with their seductive venom. Thank you, Anne Rice, for that.
Not to mention, the ones I hope to escape would never once take me to be a Southern girl. I can only hope there will be a place and people there for me, ready to accept me into open arms if and when I go home to there. Because, within me, that is what it feels like: home.

Something Doctor Who misses out on is how none of the companions are extremely interested with any one thing. All the companions are all “idk, I have a few ideas of stuff that’d be cool to see, but I’m up for whatever! All of space and time, woohoo! :)”
And that’s great for them and I know it makes for a better show overall but I think it would be more realistic for someone to say “I want to see every historically significant moment for my special interest, and then I want to double back for mundane bits too.”
I, for example, would be an insufferable companion.
I’d be like, “okay now take me to the place and time where they first used stirrups for the whole ride instead of just using them as a foothold to mount the horse. Then I want to watch Ray Hunt put a first ride on a colt. After that we’ll take a nap, and then let’s sneak onto set of the Return of the King to be extras in the Ride of the Rohirrim”
The Doctor would be all “please. This is the twentieth horse-centric stop in a row. We have all of space available to us. Can we leave Earth this time I’m begging you”
And my annoying ass would go “not unless there’s horses in space” roll credits

Marcille and Laios are absolutely, utterly unbiased when it comes to Falin, just saying.
They support Falin’s rights, but more importantly, they support Falin’s wrongs. 💀

Thinking about that post about the different words for traveller and how they all have slightly different connotations. Got me thinking about the many types of lovers a traveller like you might find.
The Nomad is one with the desert and the sand. His hands are warm and dry when they hold you, slipping down your back like he's charting the dunes, the curves, the hamadas. He'll show you every quiet, hidden place - where man hasn't tread for decades. He hears the whispers of the desert and if you lay with him, he might be persuaded to share them with you. All the world will he lay at your feet, for as long as you swear to stay by his side.
The Rover often has no destination. He'll pick you up for a whirlwind romance. Teach you to hop trains and sleep rough, a beaten paper back always in his back pocket. He's a poet, he's a thief, he's a man with a heart to give if you're willing to take it.
The Rambler doesn't go anywhere without his guitar strapped to his back. The wood is stained with sea water, the strings are thick with salt but oh, you've never heard a song played so slow and sad.
The Traveller knows more than she let's on. Tarot cards in the back of her suitcase, crystals on her fingers. She can tell you who your true love is, if you ever think to ask. She isn't always welcomed where she wanders, but there's a mystique to her that keeps people from looking away.
The Wanderer is almost always at sea. Aimless, drifting as flotsam. It's not as insulting as it sounds. Having no destination means all the more time to enjoy the journey. They'll press a kiss to your temple at sunset and send postcards with no return address. They love you from afar. Home and gone with the tides.
The Adventurer is shamelessly bold. Kissing you before asking your name and diving into water without ever checking the bottom. Their hands too rough, their kisses too quick, always looking for the next challenge. You shouldn't love them too deeply, shouldn't let the into your heart. They only have room for the thrill, only have eyes for the horizon.
The Pilgrim is reverent in their worship of your body. Kisses pressed against your wrists, fingers drifting between your ribs. They are looking for a temple to worship in, a divinity to serve. You're their absolution, whether you want to be or not.

one of the reasons i like what aa6 did for apollo so much is because i feel like he's accidentally a really nice example of a third culture kid and i......... never really thought i'd see that kind of experience in the kind of media i like. apollo returning to khura'in and all his conflicting feelings regarding dhurke and khura'in just make me Feel something
it's a lot of projecting from my part but i don't think apollo fully views either khura'in nor japan/US as home, there's just something about viewing a place as your childhood home and even if it is the place you imagine yourself returning to, things are just... different now. he's different now, and the literal home (dhurke's mountain hut) he'd wanted to return to just isn't there anymore... khura'in might've been his entire childhood, but the experience he got was so different from the other locals that he really doesn't know much about the average khura'inese lifestyle at all... khura'inese is probably his mother tongue, but he's so out of practice that he has to relearn it from scratch
i think again, i prefer apollo being japanese because i can just imagine that it was so difficult to fit in when you're so different and you're just so unfamiliar with the same experiences that everyone else had growing up... it's the kind of environment where i can't blame him for growing up not wanting to ever talk about his past, not when he's finally managed to fit in and seem Normal for the first time in his life...
i just feel like it's... easy to say that apollo is returning home to khura'in but there are so many loaded feelings that came with that and the idea of home is such a subjective one that i don't like the answer being so clear-cut. it's more like, on a good day apollo probably considers both khura'in and japan/US his home but on a bad day he thinks about how he'll never really belong in either place. it's another thing when i wonder if apollo ever resented dhurke for the decision to send him away even when he knows it was good for him... or even his real parents for taking him to khura'in in the first place? just imagining, or wishing even, that he could have been fully khura'inese like nahyuta or japanese/american like clay then maybe his life wouldn't have turned out this way.....
i don't know LMAO apollo eventually settling back in khura'in is so cathartic yet so tragic to me at the same time. it's a really weird feeling to not have a citizenship or to speak the language in the place you consider home... heck he doesn't even have a physical home in khura'in when he decides to stay?? it's just. i have a lot of thoughts about this. third culture kid apollo is important to me...

WARDI WRITTEN LANGUAGE (BASICS).
Tumblr media
Couya's full name (properly 'Haidamane Couya') written formally and with common handwriting conventions.
The Wardi written language derives from earlier proto-language systems consisting exclusively of logograms without direct phonetic meaning or grammatical structure. These symbols gradually became simplified and abstracted to the point of many having little intrinsic clarity, and combined to communicate abstract concepts.
The development of a full written language did not occur independently (as very few written languages do), and its phonetic elements (namely its use of syllabograms) were largely derived the 'ancient' Burri writing system, gradually synthesized with native writing conventions, and in the contemporary forms a wholly distinct system. The language's Relatively universalized form is a very recent phenomena, developing within the past two centuries with the region's conquering/unification into a single entity.
The contemporary written language is a mixture of logograms and syllabograms. It is read from right to left and arranged in horizontal columns. The most formal variant of this system contains each character within a square outline, usually separated by a small space. This outline confers little phonetic or symbolic information beyond making distinction between syllables exceptionally clear, and can be (and often is) omitted in handwriting. The separation of words is conveyed through a narrow rectangle or line in formal contexts, and again often omitted in handwriting (instead indicated instead by a wider blank space).
The pure logograms that have been retained in this writing system tend to be those of very common words or specific concepts (most logogram characters for types of livestock, key crops, water, major body parts, etc are widely recognized and in common use). There has not yet been any attempts to fully 'formalize' the language and omit potentially unnecessary logograms, and they remain frequently used as shorthand while conveying the same semantic information.
Many of the syllabogram characters are directly derived from logograms that depicted monosyllabic words. For example, the spoken word 'gan' means 'cow', and the character for the syllable 'gan' is identical to the common logogram for 'cow'.
The name Gantoche (literally "cow-eye") could be written either fully with syllabograms as:
Tumblr media
or through logograms as:
Tumblr media
Both ultimately communicate the same meaning, but the former clarifies pronunciation (the words gan and atoche are contracted, it's gantoche and not gan-atoche).
It is a relatively easy written language to learn, as the pure syllabogram characters indicate their own pronunciation with little ambiguity and often have consistency to their construction (ie the character for the syllable 'man' contains most of the same elements as that for the syllable 'wan'- the dot placement in particular has indication of the vowel sounds).
The inclusion of logograms in general and many of the syllabic characters being directly imported From logograms complicates matters. These characters lack visual consistency, and can be confusing to the large swath of the public who know common logograms but not the full written language itself. Ie: the word 'ungande' meaning 'liver' will be composed of logogram-derived syllable characters for 'un' (which alone means 'hand') and 'gan' (which alone means 'cow'). Someone who is only semi-literate in common logograms may be confused at the meaning, especially since these same exact same characters may be used elsewhere on their own to indicate 'hand' or 'cow'.
One major exception to this tendency is that current religious doctrine requires established logogram characters describing God to be used in place of syllabic characters. The word for god is 'Od', and has its own unique character (as do each of the Faces, the capital F 'Face', and Its deified pronoun). The syllable 'od' [oʊd] is very common in the Wardi language, and a wholly separate character is used for the phonetic sound when it is not a reference to the deity (ie 'lion' (odo [oʊdoʊ]) does not contain the same character for God in spite of its first syllable having the exact same pronunciation). Names are a bit of a gray area (ie: the name 'Odabi' is very common and carries the meaning of 'gift/blessing from God'). Religious leadership is currently experiencing a mild schism on whether the written character for God is separated due to being wholly sacrosanct (and thus inappropriate to include in the written form of a personal name) or as more of a functional delineation of the sacred and mundane.

btw if I see anyone going at Quackity for being emotional or victimizing himself, I will not grant you the privilege of hearing out your opinion, I will block you. On site. Without remorse.
He A) is a victim. He has been doxxed, harrassed, stalked, and sent death threats. These things are crimes that Quackity is a victim of, and I think it's insane if you believe he's victimizing himself when he is a fucking victim.
And B) he is allowed to be emotional when he's afraid for his life? Actually, in general he's allowed to be emotional, that's not a question, but now more than ever. Celebrities and influencers have teared up far more over far less without anywhere near as much backlash.
This isn't a discussion to be had. If you believe he's unreasonably emotional or victimizing himself in the situation then make yourself known now so we can both block each other and never interact again.
I mean it.
