And then i finished watching buffy and what is that ending with spike ?

I love this book to death, so here's some things I noticed <3
#hyde being short is quite possibly my favourite thing ever#this isnt me jabbing at the takes that stray from the book#just btw XD#i think thats a big reason why i love it so much is that theres a WEALTH of inspiration that can be taken from the jekyll and hyde trope#theres so much out there i love#that being said#ive been buzzing about jekyll n Hyde recently because of this game that blindsided me with a jekyll n hyde trope#its always fun seeing it out in the wild#as seldom as that is LMAO#if anyones curious though its called vampire therapist and its a character named dr drayne#very cute and very fun game 💕💕#jekyll and hyde#the strange case of dr jekyll and mr hyde#dr jekyll#mr Hyde#also talking about blindsided by gothic lit blorbos#saw an animated Jekyll and hyde movie at the DOLLARSTORE for 5 smackaroos#easiest 5bucks i ever spent#literally the funniest shiy ive ever seen highly recommend watching it pals#its also on youtube for free and its in that so bad its good category for me

been going a little bit insane about this sentence from Ace by Angela Chen for the past week
#replace this with any other type of significant relationship too#also! this book actually rules btw i really recommend it#i didnt read it when it first cane out bc i was like. well i am already pretty familiar with asexuality and not rly interested in 101 stuff#but it turns out it doesnt feel 101-y at all its a super awesome piece of queer theory and also chen has Good opinions#and not weird watered down ones that i am sometimes wary of in aspec communities (frankly especially ace ones)#i think maybe if more people approached asexuality the way chen does (including and maybe even especially ace people)#i would be more inclined to still ID as ace#but anyways!#aro#aromantic#<- tag selections that reflect how i personally engage with this quote#also#described in alt text#also also#j tag#:/#aro media

Everyone go read the house in the cerulean sea and then the sequel somewhere beyond the sea it needs a bigger fandom. Perfect if you like good omens, our flag means death, queer romance, and the found family trope (and if you hate jk rowling).

honestly when searching for romance I think it is great to have both Anne Shirley and Jo March as role models. Anne Shirley thinks love is something out-of-this-world and beyond her own reality and goes out searching for it, only to find that love is familiar and friendly and comfortable and kind. She goes out into the world and then says it's not what the world holds for you but what you can bring to it. Meanwhile Jo March already has a love that is familiar and friendly and comfortable and kind and says we would be like old crows, fighting all the time, and goes out to find someone who is new and different who can challenge her and help her forge a path to a new life that isn't what anyone expected.
I think the point is that love can be different for different people, and that no one can tell you who to love or how. You have to look within yourself to understand what can bring you happiness, and then you have to work for it.
#anne of green gables#little women#i would just recommend the adaptations over the books#the books are weirdly mean-spirited#the kevin sullivan adaptation of aogg#the winona ryder little women#also professor bhaer is not as good in the books

"... What I thought was that if you-- maybe just once a year-- if we could come here at the same time, just for an hour or something, then we could pretend we were close again-- because we would be close, if you sat here and I sat just here in my world..." "Yes," he said, "as long as I live, I'll come back. Wherever I am in the world, I'll come back here--" "On Midsummer Day," she said. "At midday. As long as I live. As long as I live..."
(from Philip Pullman's The Amber Spyglass)

dorian only thinks his portrait is beautiful because he sees it as a depiction of his fleeting youth and identity, but the truth is the portrait is actually a reflection of basil, the artist, who put too much of himself in it. it’s not dorian who is beautiful, but rather basil’s pure love for him, which in turn is a reflection of basil’s soul and true nature. by loving dorian, and embracing his love through art without shame, basil has created the most precious thing, even if it is fleeting. much like romance, all art is quite useless, but it touches the human spirit nonetheless, and that’s important
#I’m reading the picture of dorian gray to pass the time and I’m feeling all my emotions omg this book is really good#and beautifully written ?? would definitely recommend#also this is the most blatant gay metaphor I’ve ever seen oscar wilde was crazy for this#but he was soso right basil is beautiful !! *bursts into tears*#the picture of dorian gray#dorian gray#basil hallward#ghost speaks

hi! sorry to bother! any sci fi recommendations with women in them? gay women would slap but i don’t want to be too demanding.
that is not too demanding at all! all of these are heavily focused on women & almost all have gay protags:
This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone - poetic romance novella about two women on opposing sides of a war spanning all of time, unfolding through letters
The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson* - a tense, dark story about a world in which travel between parallel universes is monopolized, and a woman who is dead in almost every single one
Ammonite by Nicola Griffith - 90s lesbian/feminist scifi classic; thoughtful social sci-fi set on a world where a virus killed off all men and most of the women, about an anthropologist who's come to study the inhabitants and test a vaccine
The Echo Wife by Sarah Gailey - domestic thriller about a brilliant scientist whose husband clones her to make a "better" (more docile & housewife-y) version of her - and is then killed by the clone, leaving the two women to cover up the murder
The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling - unsettling, claustrophobic horror about a caver on an alien world, her untrustworthy handler being her only contact with the surface world
The Fortunate Fall by Cameron Reed* - bleak, heartwrenching 90s cyberpunk about a lesbian news reporter in a dystopian regime who uncovers more than she bargained for
Light From Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki* - emotional & hopeful scifi/fantasy mix about a trans violin prodigy, her teacher who has a deal with the devil, and an alien running a donut shop
some more, rapid-fire: Dawn by Octavia Butler* (iconic classic sf, first contact); The Telling by Ursula K. Le Guin (social sf, envoy-on-alien-world); The Seep by Chana Porter (utopian, unique take on alien invasion); The Splinter in the Sky by Kemi Ashing-Giwa (space opera, spy thriller); The Paradox Hotel by Rob Hart (time travel, murder mystery); The Outside by Ada Hoffman (cosmic horror); Gearbreakers by Zoe Hana Mikuta (dystopian YA, mecha); Woman on the Edge of Time by Marge Piercy* (classic sf, time travel)
(*books with an asterisk are ones I'd particularly recommend looking up the content warnings for, as they can get quite heavy)
#i could keep going honestly there is SO much good scifi with women in it.#&it was no bother at all!!! i love recommending scifi :]#in fact feel free to get way more specific than that. this was easy mode#books

you are so whimsical i qant to check out this mdzs (..??) because of your whimsical nature thank you sorry im very high and your art moved me emotionally
This is simultaneously the sweetest and funniest thing someone has sent me, thank you.
#ask#non-mdzs#I have a hunch you will not recall sending this to me but I wish to immortalize it.#The progression of me going 'aw' to 'barking with laughter' at the last bit of this message was a delight.#Oh man what to say about getting into MDZS...#I admit I'm probably low on the list of people who should be recommending it.#I enjoy it! But there are also a ton of different adaptations that each do a slightly different thing with the story and characters.#Personally I loved The Untamed (Netflix live action) for how campy the action was. It got emotional but really...It made me laugh.#And I love watching it with people because it also makes them laugh.#(The Untamed changes a lot of plot elements so it isn't looked upon very favourably by many fans. I love it as its own thing)#Don't get me wrong; it *is* a story with interesting things to say and I certainly have written tons of analysis on it.#But it's also a series I spent over a year making parody comics of. It comes from a place of love!#The audio drama is really good and I think it might be the best form of mdzs...however finding episodes is not easy.#The audio drama is also what I'm basing all these comics on!#There is a book (the primary source) An animated series and a comic to check out as well.#Someone probably has a better pitch and recommendation list than I do. I just make the funny comics.

If they were in a university setting, what do you think the characters would be studying?
Soap definitely being a chemistry major, maybe also having a particular interest in astronomy. Physically a meathead but in mind and soul he's a nerd. Has glow in the dark plastic stars and planets on his walls and ceilings along with pictures of galaxies. Cried when the first picture of a black hole was taken. "SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL."
Price is a history major, specializes in wars and military. Was the kid that knew all the "fun facts" about WWI and WWII. He enjoys the unknown details of them. "Did you know in-" is the sign you should leave the room. Has too many history books in his room, and yes he's read them all and then some.
Gaz being a psychology major. Obsessed with thrillers and suspense films, analyzes people in real life (but only in private with his friends). He's interested in having a career in law enforcement and criminal psychology. Is very good at reading people when he isn't trying. Unofficial therapist in his friend group.
Ghost is a literature major. Good with his words (when he wants to be) and is considered a brilliant mind when he tries. Spends his spare time working out and in the library. Claims to not have a favorite author but does have a favorite genre: Romantic Dramas. He isn't shameful about it, he's openly proud of being a romantic at heart. Never mind his favorite story elements being murder and kidnapping.
#soap not being an art major because that's his hobby#make it his job then it stops being fun and relaxing#price have a box of index cards full of fun facts#gaz giving the best advice despite not having personal experience#ghost recommending a book that'll probably traumatize you but the romance is good#call of duty#modern warfare#john soap mactavish#john price#kyle gaz garrick#simon ghost riley#ask#thanks for the ask <3#drabble

Fantasy Novel Recommendations?
Hey yall! I've gotten SO big into reading novels, whenever I'm not working on my art or my video game I'm pouring into a new world!
But I keep getting frustrated with a lot of the fantasy novels I read, and I was pretty disappointed by Fourth Wing. Not that it was bad, there was a LOT that I found really interesting! Everything with the dragons in particular was really fascinating.
But... the romance subplot became the ENTIRE story and it was just really dull and frustrating to read. I loved so many things in the book, but that drove me so crazy I don't even think I'll read the second one.
If romance is the primary point, like Jane Austin novels? I'm totally fine with that! But... I don't really want it taking over completely in my fantasy novels.
Point is... I'm looking for fantasy novels with female leads, with minimal romance, or romance very much being secondary to the primary plot. Also if there can be little to no sex scenes, please and thank you. I'm not a prude, I just find a lot of it very boring. I come to books for stories, ya know?
I ADORED the Throne of Glass series, and any romance in there always stood secondary to the story, and felt pretty fluid and believable, so it never bothered me.
So yes, please give me any recommendations you have!! I'd love to check out new fantasy novels.
Anyway if you want any book recs yourself, these are some of my favorites: Throne of Glass series
Where the Crawdads Sing
This Is How You Lose The Time War
To Kill a Mockingbird
#cqchat#book recommendations#I've read TKaM more than any other book#and Where the Crawdads Sing is dare I say#a masterpiece?#and Throne of Glass is just SO good#anyway thanks in advance yall
