Most of the days this week I’ve felt really down and a big range of the “negative” emotions. Most of those feelings were in relation to my job. I sat with those feelings for days trying to get to the root cause of it, rolling back the layers over and over again. Finally, I recognized that i was seeking external validation. Ultimately, I need to work on feeling validated on my own, knowing I’m enough, my work is enough, I am doing a good job. That’s something I’m really, really bad at. Imma try though.

Like today, I did me, focused on me, and I think it was recognized and received well. Whereas the last few days, when I was seeking external validation, I don’t think I was received well. But I was acting out behaviors that were not sitting well with my soul anymore, they didn’t align with me anymore. So of course it didn’t feel good to me and gave me all of those negative feelings.

I am still sitting here replaying the events of today over and over and picking apart areas where I could’ve done better. Is it my anxiety? Or a moment of growth? Don’t get me wrong here, I didn’t “do” anything bad other than exist but I’m a hardcore perfectionist with OCD and a childhood message that my therapist CLOCKED (“dont exist”)

Anyways, there’s a peak into my brain. Idk how to end this.

leander, pagan symbolism, and other notes.

ok so people have already brought up that leander is covered in or surrounded by a lot of symbolism. but there’s way more where that came from. idk if someone has compiled all of them in one place but i’m doing it here bc i’m feeling crazy at the moment

first, let’s get the obvious ones out of the way

there’s the ouroboros on his earring and in his charm

it’s a pagan symbol and also symbolizes alchemy. the ouroboros features a serpent eating its own tail and “symbolizes the eternal nature of the universe and the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. The symbol is closely associated with that of infinity, and the two are typically combined” (source)

we can see that it’s combined with the infinity symbol on the charm, which of course has to do with eternity

then there’s the triple moon/triple goddess on his belt buckle, yet another pagan symbol (credit to this post for this insight!)

here’s some info on the triple moon: “The first crescent, the waxing moon, symbolizes new life, rejuvenation, and new beginnings. The middle circle represents the full moon when magic is at its most powerful. Finally, the second crescent moon represents the moon during its waning period. This time of the moon phase is a time that is regarded as the best to send things away, remove them from your life, or finish things.” (source)

there are also white lilies featured in leander’s CG, on his charm and pin, and in the game trailer

surprise! it’s also a pagan symbol!

supposedly, “pagans used white lilies as decorations on May Day. Part of the festivities include young women dancing around the May Pole with ribbons with lilies in their hair. In this setting lilies represent renewed life, health and fertility.” (source)

another pagan symbol that “is also sometimes used to symbolize Mother Earth. The element of earth is associated with the colors of brown and green, abundance, prosperity, and fertility.” (source) apparently it’s the ultimate symbol of the divine feminine

finally, green is practically leander’s official colour. it’s the colour of his eyes, his magic, and is featured heavily all over his sprite and official art. interestingly, it’s also the colour of the cloaks that his bloodhounds wear

you guessed it - the colour green is tied to paganism

it symbolizes “youth and fertility, evil and envy” and is connected to the season of spring as well as to nature (source). in the bible, green “means immortality, resurrection, growth, prosperity, and restoration” as well as fertility (source)

now onto some things that i might just be reading into lmao

like the gold points on leander’s trench coat, as well as the tiny inverted triangle between his clavicles, which is also featured in one of initial sketches for his earring. this could be the water symbol

again, it’s pagan. and is “believed to have a strong feminine connection, and so it is associated with all aspects of the goddess. The inverted triangle used to symbolize water is felt by some to symbolize the womb and is befitting with this element's feminine association.” (source)

the same source mentions that water is a “healing and purifying element that is connected to the West. Water can be used in rituals involving love and other emotions, and flowing water in nature, such as a river, or the sea, can be incorporated into magical workings that focus on carrying away negativity or other unwanted aspects of your life.”

i included it because it mentions the goddess, the womb (so possibly fertility), and femininity, which you’ve probably noticed by now is a recurring meaning for the other symbols on him

flowing water also brings lowtown to mind, since it’s described as being eroded by some sort of flood

next i’ll bring up leander’s dagger earring again, focusing not on the ouroboros but the dagger itself

in the demo, the mc notes that the earring is “dagger shaped.” but what if it’s not a dagger at all? what if it’s the ankh?

this could be a stretch, but note the hoop at the top of the dagger

the ankh is an “ancient Egyptian hieroglyph means life or living. Over time the ankh has come to symbolize eternal life and immortality to people from many walks of life. In ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, the gods were always seen carrying an ankh, making it a symbol of divinity.” (source)

another reach, but i was looking at pagan symbols that might be a match for the diamond that shows up on leander’s lapel pin and his belt buckle, and came across the unicursal hexagram

this is the weakest link imo, especially because this isn’t a pagan symbol, but i thought i’d add it anyway since it seemed neat

the unicursal hexagram is a “six-pointed star is drawn unicursally, meaning that it is drawn in one continuous line. The hexagram represents the divine and heavenly forces of the universe. In Aleister Crowley's occult order Thelema, a five-petaled flower is placed in the middle to represent the pentacle and the five classical elements.” (source)

some other insights that i wanted to bring up here, though they have less to do with symbolism and are more concrete/tied to the game specifically

first up, as mentioned earlier, green might as well be leander’s official colour... so what about the red items on him? what significance do they have?

there’s this glowing red object attached to his belt, which i can’t help but think looks like an inverted version of the largest spire in eridia. you know, the spire that’s confirmed to be the senobium

also note how the windows in eridia all seem to glow with a similar red light in this CG...

there’s also a (faintly glowing?) red gem on his dagger earring, which looks to be diamond-shaped

what does it mean? what does it all mean?

your guess is as good as mine! but given all the allusions to the divine feminine, the (triple) goddess, fertility, etc. i can’t help think that leander might be in league with some kind of goddess or female deity. we already know that gods exist in some form or another, since ais is connected to a god and kuras is an angel, so the idea isn’t completely off base

did this goddess save leander’s life in the past, hence the constant motifs of renewed life, rebirth/resurrection, immortality, and so forth? maybe the scar that covers a good portion of his body had been enough to kill leander, or just nearly, until she intervened somehow

is he working with her to potentially overthrow the senobium, which we know he dislikes? are leander’s bloodhounds in on this? is the fact that leander’s magic is so powerful due to some kind of pact he has with the goddess?

Not to give the astrology girls credit but this actually has been the craziest full moon I have ever experienced. The place I lived in most of my life and only moved away from just a couple months ago had a road collapse and ponds drain and that hasn't happened in over 100 years. The house I lived in during the most critical period of my teenage years flooded. The road that collapsed was less than a mile from this home, and that house was the one I faced the most domestic abuse in. It was about two weeks away from having its sale finalized. About a week ago, one long term friend and I came to a mutual agreement to end our friendship for the sake of our growth, but come late Saturday night one of our even longer term friendships had a personal problem with it, used my sexual assault as ammo against me, and tried to pit all of our friends against me (it didn't work). I've been friends with her for a decade, but I told her after this we aren't friends anymore, and I know we never will be again. Right after making this decision, I had to bury a dead baby pigeon in a place that is not my own, one that's far from my home, as its parents watched me perched from above. In the midst of this, someone I love deeply and have been praying for a reconciliation with approached my best friend to ask about me and see where I'm at currently, and my mom and I told each other how much we love the other and how thankful we are that our relationship was healing, and I know she meant that from the depths of her soul. This has all occurred between 11pm on Saturday and last night, and despite the turmoil all I can feel is a deep, deep connection to all of whom came before me and all who will come after, and I feel so loved. All I can do is marvel at the beauty of life, and honor the rebirth occurring right before my very eyes. I drained my full vape in one day yesterday. Shit's crazy.

I FINISHED ROBIN HOOD YESTERDAY

After 34 days, or thereabouts. That makes me seem like a casual, non-fixated media-consumer, but actually that's my disciplined strategy of ensuring my fixation can sustain me for a long period of time.

Now it's time to reflect on season 3 and do some episode-by-episode reviews.

Total Eclipse - What was going on. It was different. Everything felt different. Robin had had a haircut and Guy had had a hair growth, which was actually debilitating to his vision. Also the Sheriff had eye shadow and shaved that bit of hair that everyone liked. Guy made a fool of himself by not killing Robin but entered his emo phase.

Cause and Effect - Kate began her campaign to make everyone cringe at the construction of female characters. Unfortunately she would never get over the death of that pathetic brother. Really random Irish guys. Goodbye Gisborne.

Lost in Translation - yes, Wikipedia, you're very right to note Gisborne is absent. I was almost losing hope for the series. The Bible in English, that's crazy. Was this when they dug up a skeleton?

Sins of the Father - I don't know why everyone acted like they knew Rufus. Allan and Kate definitely could have developed a relationship from here, but no, Robin's the only charmy smarmy man allowed. Snivelling accountant was killed. A little three-way conflict and little laddy escaped the shadow of his father.

Let the Games Commence - Gisborne returned with a boosted ego, styled hair, a pet lion, and things looked up. He has a sister? Now you're pushing it, writers. I did find her attractive here but, you know, that changed. A nice circus theme going on and that ginger kid tried his best.

Do You Love Me? - Now things really looked up. Prince John is a gem. He set that random wedding on fire. Gisborne and the Sheriff were pitted against each other, ouch. Did I hallucinate or did the Sheriff claim to be like his father as Guy 'killed' him? The awkward dinners, amazing. The failure at kingly healing, oh yes.

Too Hot to Handle - Prince John carried it again. Robin and Isabella really shouldn't have been a thing so it was good when Guy went after them. After treading water and undressing Isabella snapped and turned bad and we had a quarreling quadrangle: Robin, Isabella, Gisborne, Prince John.

The King Is Dead, Long Live the King - a kind of uninteresting episode, but Guy escaped Isabella, began his redemption arc, Robin faced off with his old mentor.

A Dangerous Deal - Guy and Meg, my heart, incredibly adorable, Meg was literally the best female character and she deserved more time, Guy had a character reversal, flash feminism I guess and husband-killing.

Bad Blood - the most weird weirdest episode to exist, we learnt a lot of too convenient and too overlooked facts about Robin and Guy's family history, had to watch loads of new characters take all the action, where Robin's dad happened to spring from who knows, but I overlooked the massive stretches for the sake of seeing Robin and Guy ride off into the sunset

The Enemy of My Enemy - I really wish Robin and Guy could have developed as a pair like this for longer, Archer was somewhat a prick, but I'm nevertheless fond of the strange brother trio.

Something Worth Fighting For Part 1 - Showdown time. Honestly, Kate and Robin's romance was a no-go. But sure. Turning gang members out, almost suffocating Much, Guy and Robin in the tunnels, Allan's painful death, there was some good drama.

Something Worth Fighting For Part 2 - I was so glad to have the Sheriff back. Having it back how it used to be, the final fight being against the original, key villain. Guy not a villain, a solid gang member. But then it was die die time. That tunnel scene was cruel. Guy and Robin as friends: I don't care if it's unbelievable, it makes me happy. Robin took on the nice little 'I'll be the hero and sacrifice myself so everyone else can prosper' trope. When Marian stepped out of the trees I was a goner.

The third night without sleep, Dean rolls himself a joint from Sam's stash out of pure desperation. He doesn’t exactly want to stink up his room, so he goes outside the Bunker, climbs the steep hill to the base of the abandoned water treatment plant, and takes a seat with his back against the brick wall.

The chill air bites his cheeks as he pulls in a mouthful of smoke, holds for a second, and releases it into the night air. It’s been a while since he’s smoked, maybe since Cassie or Lee, but even then it wasn’t often.

His very brief period of experimentation favored anything with a little more oomf – LSD, STP, PCP; he ran the gamut of most of the alphabet drugs, but that was when he went a little crazy while Sam was in school and Dad was off doing who the hell knows what. He never had much time or need for a downer like indica – and, when he did, whiskey was in high supply.

Dean’s head whips to the side when he hears the crunch of dried grass under foot, but the mussed top of Cas’s head appears over the hill, and Dean relaxes.

“Making sure I don’t run off again?” Dean asks, sticking the joint back between his lips.

“I just thought I’d enjoy the night,” Cas says, a little stilted, like he’s afraid Dean will poke fun at his nightly wandering.

“It ain’t half bad,” Dean agrees. It’s true. The sky is clear and it’s just cold enough to be refreshing rather than frigid. It smells like spring: all damp earth and new growth. “Want some?”

He holds the joint to Cas. Cas squints at it.

“Sam offered before. It didn’t have much effect on me.”

“People never get high the first time,” Dean says. “Come on. Puff, puff, pass, man.”

Cas takes the joint and sinks to the ground in a surprisingly fluid motion for how stiffly he normally carries himself. He crosses his legs on the ground, and Dean’s reminded of that other Cas, from Zachariah’s alternate future.

“Just don’t get into the habit,” Dean says gruffly.

Cas takes his own hit before passing the stick back to Dean.

“Drugs rarely have an effect on me, still,” Cas says. “Even alcohol.”

“You think it’s a good sign?” Dean prompts. “Maybe your grace is healing?”

“I’d like to think so,” Cas sighs. “Truthfully, I feel basically the same.”

“Yeah, well, it’s not even a year. Keep your head up, buddy.”

“What about you?” Cas asks.

“What?” Dean says, knowing exactly what Cas means.

“How are you feeling?” Cas clarifies.

“I’m fine,” Dean says.

“No, you’re not,” Cas says.

Dean can’t face the angel’s eyes. He lets his head fall against the wall behind him, staring at the sky. Lebanon ain’t exactly a metropolis, so there’s not much light pollution to speak of, but out here in the prairie it’s even clearer. The sky is inky black, speckled with stars like a flashlight shining through a metal colander.

“I don’t know, man,” Dean sighs. “I’m here, aren’t I?”

“Emma said you were with Benny,” Cas says. It’s enough of a non sequitur that Dean lifts his head.

“Um, yeah,” Dean says. “Down in New Orleans. He…let me crash for a few days.”

“You didn’t stay for long?” Cas asks.

“Not really,” Dean hedges. “Before that I was…around.”

"Yes," Cas says. There's a note of anger in his voice. Cas was always pretty good at the whole heavenly wrath thing. “With Crowley, apparently."

"Yeah because you've never palled around with demons before," Dean snaps. And shit. As soon as the words are out of his mouth, his stomach sinks. He didn't want to argue.

"It's unfair of you to throw that in my face when I've - I've tried to atone for working with Crowley many times over," Cas says, voice strangely brittle.

Funny, but Dean hadn't even thought about Cas working with Crowley. He'd been thinking about Cas and Meg searching for the demon tablet in the Middle East.

"Sorry," Dean says. He swallows something barbed and sticky in his throat.

There's a beat of silence, then Cas breathes out hard.

Dean takes another pull from his joint. He hands it back to Cas, nudging his friend’s arm with his knuckles when Cas doesn’t immediately reach for it.

“You could have stayed,” Cas says. He’s staring unblinkingly across the shadowed field. “You didn’t have to go to Crowley. Or Benny.”

“I know,” Dean says. And he does. He does know. He doesn’t have the words to explain the cloying, claustrophobic fear that gripped him the first few weeks after brutalizing Randy and the others. His instability. The certainty with which he knew he’d hurt someone else. The inevitability of it. “I just needed to get away. Benny was – he’s a good friend. He helped me find solid footing again, I guess.”

“Just a friend?” Cas asks. “Or are you…in a relationship with him?”

Cas’s question echoes like a sonar ping through Dean’s ribcage.

“Did Emma tell you? Or Ben?”

“No,” Cas replies. “I think I…guessed in Purgatory. I’m not very good at understanding social interactions, but I could understand there was something between you two. And I knew you slept with men…since I reconstructed your very being, all of your history was revealed to me. Although I’d argue it didn’t gain emotional significance until later.”

“Emotional significance, huh?”

Cas replies with a half-smile. “Navigating the nuance of human emotion hasn’t exactly been easy.”

“Why do you ask?” Dean bluffs. “You jealous?”

It’s the first time they’ve even come close to vocalizing the magnetic, possessive pull toward one another, and Dean’s heartbeat thuds in his throat. No fucking way would he have the balls to confront this if the weed hadn’t made him so loose-tongued.

“I’m not jealous,” Cas says immediately, and Dean’s almost high enough to admit it’s disappointment he feels in the base of his gut. “I was just…curious.”

“We’re not,” Dean says. He sucks in another mouthful of smoke. “What about you and Meg? You guys hook up during your Raiders tour?”

Cas takes the joint. He waits until he’s blowing smoke before he says. “We did…once. I didn’t like it very much.”

“Yeah?” Dean says. He’s already prepared to jump to Cas’s defense if the demon pressured him into something he didn’t want to do.

“I think it’s because I’m gay.”

If Dean had been drinking, he would have done a spit take. “You’re, um. Oh – okay.” He tries to recover himself. “I didn’t think…way back when, Anna said angels didn’t feel things…like that.”

“I think we can both agree I’m far from an angel,” Cas says.

Dean doesn’t exactly know what to say to that. He finishes the joint and stubs out the ember against the brick.

“I should, ah, try to get some sleep,” he says. He’s felt awkward around Cas plenty of times, but never quite like this: there’s a gnawing sensation in the pit of his stomach, like he said something wrong or missed his chance. He tells himself he’s being stupid.

“Oh,” Cas says. Is that disappointment in his voice, too? Or something else? “Goodnight, then.”

Dean stands to his feet. He closes his fist at his side before he can do something stupid, like pat Cas on the shoulder or, worse, put his hand in the angel’s hair.

“Night, Cas.”

Here to document our journey to build a family and all the feels it comes with.

It all began with Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) in 2016. I had always gotten boils and thought they were normal and just come with hormones/menstrual cycles. But they were so painful and they never completely heal, just this wound constantly draining. Constantly in pain. But I finally go to Dr. Google and Dr. Google leads me to HS. Then that leads me to an actual dermo where I'm officially diagnosed with the auto-immune disease that is HS. They sent me home with pamphlets and everything. One of the pamphlets has said "you are not alone." and I thought, oh this is a real disease. Over the years, I've joined support groups and it brought comfort to know I'm not alone in this and to know others are experiencing the same pains if not worse.

Then somewhere around the same time, my periods become irregular. Maybe even earlier. I honesty don't remember. It would be every other month, then every 3 months, then every 6 months. Totally not normal and I did not want to be on birth control to regulate it because I've always wanted to have babies. and I did not want to have a hard time. If I had kids at the age I thought I wanted them, that would've been crazy. We were not ready lol. But anyways. I digress.

2023: In one of my dermo appointments, the doctor asks me about those irregular periods. Then she asks me if I have PCOS. I'm like, wtheck is PCOS. PoliCystic Ovarion Syndrome. Cysts in the ovary. This leads me to spiral, kind of. I get all these tests and scans done and everyone's concern is my BP. (sidebar, I've been hypertensive since my accident in 2018). Bloodwork and scans come back normal.

Now I'm getting hirsutism (random hair growth on the chin, its not cute) Well, all this is leading to the idea that I might actually have PCOS. Make an appointment with the OB. OB refers me to fertility dept and here we are. Blood tests galore to get my baseline and see what our next move is.

My love. My king. My future husband. He has been amazing during this process thus far. Supportive in all the ways. We'll call him Love.

I've had a lot of feelings in all this and I know it has only just begun. - - Why has my body betrayed me? - Have I really not taken care of myself? - So much pressure to stay fit, to stay healthy - meanwhile I have family overweight, they smoke, they drink but they're popping out babies.

I'm not one to compare my life to others. I never like to compare my blessings to another or focus on what is happening for other people. But in this scenario, I cant help it. Its hard for me to talk about pregnancy or motherhood because I want it so bad.

I'm just trying to stay grounded in my faith. Stay grounded in love and light. No one is telling me it can't happen. We're just on the journey to find out what route we need to take to ensure it happens.

things got a little crazy for like a day or two but we snapped back! it’s very intense to both witness and experience how fragile our minds are, but i’m incredibly grateful for my ability to work through it. i was triggered by something that is somewhat almost incredibly random, as it was something that brought me much entertainment and humor at one point, and upon that happening, i couldn’t shake the feelings and the thoughts of just how much i don’t “trust” myself. i began to think of all of the ways i’ve been made to feel as though what i am doing is wrong, what i am into is wrong, who i am is wrong, what i think, what i feel, all of it wrong, and by people that were core givers of both love and care at various key points in my life. i then began to think that it’s a feeling i won’t be able to shake off ever due to how “true” it is that i don’t trust myself. i got really scared at the thought process of having to continue on living like that, knowing i don’t trust myself, and how much harm that would not only bring to me, but to many others. this thought rattled me for a bit and so much of my surroundings became quite unfamiliar, and i then would start thinking about all of the dread i would have to endure. lately, i’ve been focusing on the intention of just embracing whatever the fuck it is, and give myself to it completely, and it’s essentially been those baby steps i’ve been taking since last Spring in this new journey with my continued sobriety, and quite possibly the most important thing i’ve learned so far. as i’m having these fast paced and horrible thoughts, i began to think about what it means, looks, and feels like to embrace this continued effort moving past these awful things that have happened to me, so that i could then embrace the beautiful and important things that i do have, that i have earned, and that i cherish so fucking much. i began to think about what my growth looks like, and embracing the deep feeling it creates deep inside of my body, and it’s a such a heavy feeling. despite how good it is, in the moment and as it’s coming up, it’s a feeling that does make me panic and sick to my stomach for a millisecond, and i’m sure that’s because i’m not so used to this kind of deep body feeling, but i am determined to get used to it so that i don’t ignore it any further, thus prolonging this period of my continued healing.

Now I’m gonna sound like a totally cliche here, but SHIT it’s also an overwhelmingly fruitful year of growth, learning, and healing (ok gross) jumping from odd jobs (that I love) to corpo job and be back to odd jobs again has been a whirlwind of adventure, heartbreaks to healin to a period of being alone and onto questionable states, until finally meet person to promises walk together, and heal each other (again)

Full of kick in the shins yanked by the hair, trample by an elephant feet altogether. But a big ass middle finger and a pat on the back for the year

So, all in this year has been the year of changes, adulthood as they might say wonky, dazed, and confused turned out is a definite starter pack for anyone going through changes (as it is the only way)

Learning the ropes by being comfortable with not being comfortable is no easy task, but we’ll hold on and do it anyways. Everything like uncertain, unfamiliar and losing your sanity for a bit is also pretty normal. But eventually, without us realizing it (and with crazy amount of will power & hard work) the thing we fear most becomes second nature us, so I guess hold on buds

Hello! This is visual concept piece of Ellie that I’ve always wanted to make.

DISCLAIMER: the BG in this artwork belongs to Ben Springer from Naughty Dog. I take no ownership for it. I needed a background for this piece Bc I didn’t have time to draw one on my own).

So I’ve always wanted to explore the idea of Ellie’s mutation allowing her to have some form of control over her infection. Like, whenever she gets into a fight or flight mode, or is extremely emotional, she can trigger the mushroom growth on her right arm, where she was bitten. And she develops superhuman strength from that and better reflexes and speed. Maybe she gets better hearing, too (considering the infected primarily respond to sound).

Obviously this means the cordyceps growth would break through her skin each time, hence the massive bleeding. But maybe she’s got some crazy regeneration powers OR maybe it’s a steep price for using her Infected capabilities (maybe she’d have to wrap her whole arm in swathes of bandages and wait weeks for her skin to heal again). Maybe it takes a huge toll on her body and she bleeds through her ears and nose (like 11 from Stranger Things) and needs to rest for a day or two. Maybe she gets good enough that the rest periods are less and less and she develops an endurance for it.

The other danger to this is Ellie could go into full mutation and never come back. Which is why she has to keep herself in check. But what if she can’t? What happens if it doesn’t work out? Is there a way for her to return to her full human state at all? What if she loses herself, becomes one of the infected. What if she ends up being the most lethal and powerful infected mutations (like the bosses from Resident Evil)? Does anyone stop her? Can they stop her?

This is an idea I mainly borrowed from Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts (really great Netflix cartoon series; highly recommend it!)
