i can't stop thinking about this- during masquerade, has the don juan triumphant book ever been dropped after the phantom throws it? i feel like that's a part of the show that could go wrong very easily, or maybe i'm just projecting my very poor hand-eye coordination

It's apparently happened at least once, according to the Lamentable Mess website:

Enjoying reading all the little mistakes… but that makes the show special. Can't remember which show and phantom it was…. but while he was walking do the stairs as Red Death…. he tossed the big book and instead of catching it…. it landed with a HUGE thud! The place went deadly quiet…. and it was picked up, humbly begging forgiveness… as the Phantom replied: 'See that it NEVER happens again!' and continued on. Most of the audience went with the flow… and my friend and I just giggled. (PhoenixRose)

That being said, I don't think I've caught it on any bootlegs, and I think it might be less difficult than you imagine. The score being thrown is fairly flat and large, which means it won't deviate from its path after being thrown much; furthermore, it's being tossed down from the Phantom to one of the managers, which I imagine makes it easier to aim and catch. And finally, depending on the Phantom, sometimes the two are standing relatively close by, like in this video where it seems like the actors are only 5 feet apart:

I mean, it's probably easier than throwing the necklace in Elisabeth das Musical, where you have to aim a relatively small object at a guy standing on a catwalk with limited range of movement, and which has been missed... multiple times.

which version of erik is your favorite and why? is this the version that most informs your personal interpretation of the character? - I'm still very partial to Leroux!Erik. He was my first introduction to Phantom and it's Leroux's version (mixed with Kay) that I envision when I write and think of Erik.

favorite broadway phantom? favorite west end phantom? + why? - So this is going to sound terrible, but I'm still learning which Phantom belongs to which company, and the differences in their styles and interpretations. Earl Carpenter is a favorite of mine.

do you think phantom deserves all the adaptations it’s gotten through the years? - Yes. I love that it has managed to stay relevant all these years, because it means so many people can experience it and fall in love with the books, movies, and musical just like I did.

This took me longer than I wanted to admit and I'm obviously late 😭 But here it is! Did a poll on Tumblr about which character GhostJade should dress up as for Halloween, and Phantom of The Opera was the top one.

I took the colors/vibe from the 2004 movie with Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum. Ghost with that mask looks better than I imagined! Jade is just so fun to draw as usual (not the dress though 😭)

hi glass! hope you had a wonderful christmas if you celebrate/a great holiday season in general!

i bought this jacket from a seller on depop, and the listing didn’t mention anything about its origins. i figured it was something given to cast and crew, with the embroidered name and all. i found 2 similar listings online that had already been sold, with the names “sid” and “randy.”

i couldn’t find any more details beyond the light googling i did, so i was wondering if you had any info for when these may have been made/distributed? whether it was for west end or broadway, etc etc?

Danny doesn’t think his eyes have ever been so wide, half cradled as he was against the ghost of time, who was… much larger than he was when he had met him. Not as big as the ghost king, at least in height or bulk, but, he didn’t know, longer? Give him a break, he was exhausted and injured!

“Clockwork,” the ghost rasped, standing to their full height as an unreadable expression crossed over corpse-pale skin. “You look… well…” 

“Don’t you ‘look well’ me, Pariah Dark!” Clockwork spat, his cloak mostly covering Danny and look, he couldn’t help but to curl closer, it was nice and he was tired! It was soft, and warm, like what he thinks silk might maybe feel like, and comforting like a blanket straight out of the dryer. 

He blinked away dizziness, pausing in his idly petting of the bit of cloak in his hand when he realized he had missed a bit of the… argument? Conversation? It wasn’t a fight yet, but he wasn’t going to throw it out as a possibility. Ugh, his everything ached. 

“I saw all that you could become, all that you would become,” the time ghost’s claws- didn’t he have gloves before- gripped at his hair, crimson eyes practically smoldering. 

Danny looked between the two like he was watching a football game, eyes wide beneath his bangs and mouth parted in a small o of verging realization over what he was hearing. 

“And somehow-” Clockwork threw his hands up, cloak flaring from the motion. “I still fell in love with you like an idiot!”
