Sorry I'm not over the Flower Husbands thing yet, what bothers me a particular lot is interpretations that say Jimmy can just leave because he's an adult, he's smart. So that means he would never get caught up in an abusive relationship, that just doesn't happen to smart adult people. Jimmy would just say that he's unhappy. And the implications that this happening to him would make him inherently stupid or incompetent (because it feels like some people are really against the abusive interpretation because it paints Jimmy in a bad light (It doesn't))

Tried to do something more pushed and extreme with the lighting this time to get more of that Harsh Sunrise look I wanted in the Morning Painting piece but fell kinda short on and it ended up looking a bit toned-down.. I think I did a better job here! the blue in those shadows really comes out and looks nice and cool.. and I got a nice warm pink undertone in there somehow.. So I got the itch the other day when I saw avaritia-ffxiv's and captainqster's shards of Gia and Ilya from the 1st and decided to rotate how Odile's shard would be in that setting.

Then vmbral kindly reminded me that Angoul's shard would have died on the 1st, and he would be a voidsent on the 13th. Aaand it would have happened the other way around for Odile: her shard would have died in the 13th and she would have survived a terrible light intoxication/disease in the 1st, causing her forever blindness. In other words, the excess of light in her aether would have burned her eyes out. Literally.

Turns out (voidsent) Angoul would recognize Odile-from-the-1st's aether so... Yeah. Odile is a Reaper in the 1st with Angoul as her voidsent-avatar. I am screeching.

She has no name yet, but her design instantly clicked with me. I did not need much time to think about how she would look: let's say I'm a sucker for characters with white/silvery hair, and I was looking forward to having a version of Odile that would look like that.

Last drawing of my summer class, we were only given an hour but I think I made good progress (this was a test of sorts)

This will be the last time I'm studying under this professor, so I'd like to share his art page (I think it's neat to see how his approach to art has influenced my own)

No effects versus effects comparison for this video.

I sometimes feel like I'm at the point in my life where I can't learn any more new skills, but video editing always loves to prove me wrong. Just about every AMV I post involves trying something I haven't before, and this video is no exception. It's got glitching VHS effects, "expression shakes," eye-reflection zooms, and more—sometimes made without any tutorial to show me the way! Using what I know to apply effects I want to apply has been such a rewarding, powerful experience.

As a viewer, the highlight of the effects work in this video is likely the VHS look (which often involves actual VHS footage! That I... messed up with static recorded from my VCR and other filters to "look more like VHS footage"). But as an editor, my highlight is the amount of masking—the most I've ever done for any AMV thus far.

Two years ago, I never would have imagined putting together such an effects-heavy AMV, and it is beyond neat to me that creating this kind of fanwork is now in my toolbox. Video editing brings me so much joy.
