okay so, fun fact: parties are a reflection of their voters

not their constituents, their voters.

why are republicans getting way more right-wing and fascist? bc far-right people have been turning out like crazy. they show up in primaries, in the general, they join organizations, call their reps, stage rallies and protests. they decide elections, they decide perceptions, so politicians cannot ignore them.

why are democrats historically pretty damn centrist? bc they are the only group that reliably shows up. candidates run based on who shows up, they govern based on who shows up, and if so many progressives and leftists keep sitting out elections in "protest", we're never going to get the candidates and governance we want. it's that simple.

so show up or shut up. because if you're not in that voting booth, you've already thrown away your best tool to actually fix things.

Every time I advocate for voting people are like "no you shouldn't vote! Read this literature, it'll totally change the way you view voting!" And every single time it's the same fucking "you shouldn't vote because both parties are exactly the same so it won't make a difference who wins" bullshit wrapped up in some fancy language

It's cathartic. People have always used stories and art whatever form it takes, to understand the human experience. By experiencing it through a story, it's

1. Easier to remove ourselves emotionally from a situation that's highly charged.

2. Better understand the motives and pain that led a person to do terrible and incomprehensible things.

3. Allow us to exert control. Over situations that are totally and completely out of our control in reality.

4. We get to control the pace at which we experience things. We get to stop the movie, switch tabs, bookmark the fic for later ect.

5. You get to feel feelings again. If you lost someone and didn't really process it, you might find yourself crying a bit harder during Marley and Me or Star Wars. You get to feel your grief, but it's not as big as the grief for your loved one.

Ortus' murder from the point of view of Harrow the Ninth is like. So turns out Crux isn't just Harrow's seneschal, he's her nurse. He was her touchstone for reality for years, the person she turned to to ask "did that really happen?" or "is that real?". And he lied to her.

She didn't believe him, about Ortus. He didn't succeed at pulling that one over on her, but he tried. Which kind of makes you question how many times he might have tried it before, and how many times he wasn't caught.

Maybe I’m just being dramatic but it does legitimately scare and sadden me to see that a lot of transandrophobia truthers are literally just…young boys. Like, actual children. Like you’re not even old enough to vote yet and you have your whole life ahead of you and yet you are being manipulated into joining an mra group that hates trans women with a passion and thinks that men are oppressed in society for being men, and constantly uses Black men as their talking point in order to sound diverse and inclusive, meanwhile they’re also appropriating and misusing terminology specifically created by Black women to talk about our own oppression in order to get their misandry point across…to say nothing of the fact that the largest people in this group(including but not limited to its creator!) have misogynistic rape/detrans kinks centered specifically around preying on lesbians and trans women and this is something that is normalized and defended by the vast majority of transandrophobia truthers, or at least defended viciously by every single transandrodork that I’ve ever encountered who argued with me(a lesbian!!!) that actually there’s nothing wrong with getting off to the corrective rape of women because two consenting adults can do whatever they want in the bedroom(yeah right)! Not to mention I have yet to come across a transandrophobia truther who wasn’t also a raging die-hard Zionist.

And that’s why it disturbs me so much to see young trans boys jumping onto this transmisogynistic hate train like you guys realize these men don’t have your best interests at heart, right? Like I know you’re still in middle/high school but you can still think for yourselves, you can choose to be better than this, you can choose to actually learn about feminism and realize that it’s not actually misandry that oppresses you, it’s transphobia. Misandry doesn’t suddenly become real because you slap a trans paint over it that’s not how it works that’s not how intersectionality works that’s not how any of this shit works. There are better trans men to talk to about trans issues who know that the patriarchy is real and don’t shit on trans women in order to speak out about trans topics, so go seek them out, okay? You absolutely do not have to listen to shit that the “male supremacists but trans” group of lowlives has to say. Hell, tell them to fuck off instead!
