Understanding Lennon McCartney Rewatch Part 4.2

Having Paul talking about following his artistic muse and deciding not to care what other people think paired with the insanity of McCartney 2 is fantastic. 

I sincerely hope those 20K words that Paul wrote for his posterity about his time in jail are published some day.

“Nobody Knows” is about secretly hooking up with John, obviously. But “that includes you, honey!” Is that at Linda?? Don't do that to your mother, Paul. 

The only scenario in which I  support a hypothetical JP sexual/romantic relationship in the 70s is that hypothetically no wives were harmed in the making of this hypothetical. 

Not the cut from “Coming Up” to “Probably the thing that John and I will do . . .” to John's self interview about bisexuality and Paul and life begins at forty back to Coming Up interspersed with footage of happy JP to John getting out a guitar to record a demo! 

And the demo is (Just Like) Starting Over. Just bury me already. 

Another lyrical reference I didn't catch in the demo version: “it's easy.” Sung very similarly to how he sang it in All You Need is Love. 

John comparing them to brothers (Everly) and a marriage (Goffin and King) in the same sentence. And he's right, too.

I love the interviewer being so skeptical of John and how dismissive he is of Paul in this interview and how he can't get his story straight on when the last time he'd seen Paul was. More women should've interviewed him.

How I imagine it went. Interviewer: hi John are you ready to -- John: did you know I never think about Paul anymore unless somebody brings him up? Interviewer: but I didn't – John: yeah he used to show up at my door with a guitar and I told him to go away. Interviewer: ooookaaay? 

Cutie! I love John so much.

“If I was dead, they wouldn't be angry with me. “Nobody ever said anything about Paul having a spell over me when I was with him for a long time! Or me having a spell over Paul! They didn't think that was abnormal, two guys together.” Yeah, John, they definitely did and they made fun of it and tried to poke holes in it, or have you forgotten?

“Or four guys together.” Yeah. George and Ringo were in the Beatles too.

“In those days? Why didn't anybody ever say ‘How come those guys don't split up?” You're joking, right John?

Empire of Death

(Series 14, Episode 8)

Summary: We pick up where we left off, with Sutekh returning, but Mel helps the Doctor escape his killer dust cloud on her scooter.  It’s basically the end of everything and everyone, everywhere, except Sutekh is keeping Ruby and the Doctor alive because he just wants to know who her mum is, damnit!  (One can’t help but feel that such a powerful being could find out some other way, but hey ho!)  The Doctor uses this to his advantage and manages to clip a super-powerful lead to Sutekh’s collar, drag him through the time vortex and reset everything via the formula that death + death = life (ooookaaay then).  Anyway, turns out Ruby’s mum is just an ordinary woman, who liked dramatic cloaks and pointing (what 15-year-old doesn’t?) and she and Ruby are reunited, which means the Doctor has to ditch her, which is very sad, but he has clearly learnt NOTHING from his bigenerative therapy, because he still can’t say I love you.

It feels like a good bit of the fandom UwU-ifies Polites into this pacifist who wouldn’t hurt a fly, when??? He’s???? Been??? At??? War??? For??? Ten??? Years??? Sure we don’t know his role in the war he could’ve been a medic! But medics still have to fight on the occasion to protect the wounded!

Open Arms isn’t about being a 100% pacifist who won’t ever fight, it’s a song about letting your walls down after ten years of war and trying to learn not everything is a threat, lead with open arms but attack back if that does not work! Lead with your heart! And Odysseus does! Even all the way to Get In The Water Odyssey tries open arms!

Polites soul ghost wouldn’t be trying to tell Odysseus to use open arms well he was stabbing Poseidon!!! (I’ve seen TikTok about this…) Polites would be devastated that Odysseus had to become The Monster to survive!

MASSIVE DARK URGE SPOILERS BELOW

So, for context, Kai'mana was romancing both Astarion and Shadowheart, and to get a certain Durge cutscene with Astarion I needed to break things off with Shadowheart. The game would not let me. So I had to YEET Shadowheart into a chasm to kill her, so Astarion would show up instead, and that triggered the break up conversation with Shadowheart so Kai'mana could officially date Astarion.

It was, uh... an experience.

Astarion, stoooop. My heart. T_T Anyways, I couldn't pass up on that pun. I had to.

Ooookaaay. Good luck with that.

I can't believe Kai'mana actually drank this dude to death. What a queen. Astra could never. And by that I mean she would have refused to drink and would have just slaughtered the guy with magic. She's a queen in her own right.

"Alright" Logan announces, her hands are clasped behind her back, she's pacing back and forth slowly in front of the group.

They're all sitting on the ground facing her, each of them have varying levels of interest in the information.

"I have gone through the basics of car safety, of road signs and how to control the car. Any questions?"

Remus' hand shoots up but he doesn't wait for her to call on him "who's gonna drive?"

"Hmm" she thinks.

Patton tries to make himself smaller, hoping she doesn't suggest him.

"I have the most knowledge but I'm small and haven't actually been in a car before, so the next best option would be Patton."

Patton's face scrunches up, he's trying to be positive and encouraging but it's not really working.

"Aw what but I wanna drive!" Remus pouts.

Logan shakes her head "no, you're too reckless."

Roman snickers, Remus shoves him making Roman fall over, Roman retaliates with a kick at Remus' side; the twins devolve into a scuffle.

Logan ignores them looking to Patton "do you want to see what adjustments we'll need to make?"

"Adjustments?" Patton asks.

"Yes, although you're tall for your age I'm not so sure you'll be able to see out the windshield or get to the pedals we'll need to see what we need to do."

"O - okay" Patton agrees timidly getting up and walking to the buggy with Logan.

Remus pushes Roman's face away with his foot clambering up from their scuffle and trails along behind Logan and Patton.

"Hey wait for me!"

Once Patton is sitting in the driver's seat it's clear that it needs a few adjustments.

They slide the seat all the way forward and push the steering wheel down.

After that was done Logan asks "how does that feel?"

"Um, scary."

Logan's head cocks to the side "I'm not sure I understand, that doesn't answer my question."

Patton opens his mouth, closes it then opens it again but he's not sure what to say to that.

Remus looks back and forth between the two, neither are speaking, both seem confused.

"Ooookaaay" he says trying to break them out of whatever is going on.

Logan asks a different question "can you see out the windshield?"

"Kinda."

"Here" she hands Patton a large pillow "what about now? And is the steering wheel at a comfortable height?"

Patton puts his hands on the steering wheel "y-yeah, everything is good" his smile is forced.

"Can you reach the pedals?"

Patton tries, his foot only is barely on the pedal, he sighs with some relief, maybe they won't be able to do this.

"No" he answers a little more enthusiastic than he wanted to.

Logan kneels to look at the distance between Patton's foot and the pedals.

"It's not that far, we can fix this" she says, Patton deflates.

After strapping some lightweight flat objects safely and carefully to the pedals, Patton can reach no problem.

"Now I'm going to adjust the mirrors and such, please pay attention to them."

Patton nods slightly, if he's going to be forced to do this he may as well be as focused on it as possible.

When that's all said and done, Logan turns to the others "we're ready."
