6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Ooof uhhhh like none? I think I did some themed one-shots that were downers but like...I really can't bring myself to end on angsty notes.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? As much as I wish I could, I don't think a longfic is in the cards for me. I'm frankly not creative enough to keep the momentum up ;_;. Maybe if the right inspo hit. But at this point I write shorter things and I don't expect to not finish them at some point, even if they take a while to crank out.

16. What are your writing strengths? I like to think that I have strong ideas on characterizations, and that the prose carries the ideas that I'm trying to convey. (Particularly about Zelink.) I love the poetic imagery for them and enjoy metaphoers and loooove religious imagery for them as well.

Chapter 3

♡NEVER LET ME DOWN AGAIN♡

sweet...not too sweet...I slowly take a deep breath and open my eyes dreamily. Totally blurred with fatigue I feel only her soft hair and I immediately realize what is happening here.

I look down directly into the face of Bella, arms wrapped around her and our bodies so close that not even a needle could fit between us.

Silently I just enjoy every second, not that it's over too quickly.

What are we actually? Friends? Lovers?

Bella moves a bit, hums a little and just continues to cuddle with me, unaware that I am not her pillow. I smile while my heart probably wants to kill me from stumbling and I gently caress her cheek.

She is so sweet....simply everything about her is so sweet. Her fawn eyes, her smile and when she laughs it's so incredibly infectious.

Lost in thought, I look at her and I am miserably aware that I am in love with her. I never want to leave her side. I am aware of that but her?

Too big is the fear that something comes in between or she does not share all these feelings with me.

Impossible to get out of there today without an ultimatum. Either my heart will be broken or I will have achieved impossible.

Other than expected to startle, fall down or hit me in the face was her first impulse to hide her face in my chest which doesn't make the whole situation much better. The heat rose in her face and her breath became faster.

Her breath is like that of a marathon runner as she continues to cling. "ssshhhh....oi hey it's ok it's just me. You had a nightmare and I thought I'd keep you company."

Her breathing slowly calms down a bit and she sits up without looking at me. I regret it, after all I didn't want to scare her.

"I didn't mean to catch you off guard I'm sorry" I say sincerely.

"It's ok, I...better make breakfast now. I have an appointment with my manager later to prepare everything for tomorrow. I'll book us a single suite, they are always free" She stands up and smiles at me.

"Thank you for taking care of me" She blushes "I liked that...." and she goes into the bathroom to freshen up and make breakfast.

"She liked it...."

My cheeks burning, while my heart beats again in the wrong rhythm and as if that is not enough there is the tingling again.

Sitting at the table I look at my breakfast. "Aren't these suits expensive?" I asked curiously.

"Please don't worry, my manager will take care of it. I invited you so it's fine." We finished our breakfast and did the rest of the things that were important.

*NEXT DAY AT THE AIRPORT*

Rain pours down on us as we arrive at the airport. We finally find our plane which will fly us to New York.

From there we change planes and will get to Calgary. It is getting colder and colder and in Calgary there is probably already snow.

Bella sneezes.

I can clearly see the bags under her eyes. She must have hardly slept the last night. "Make yourself comfortable we have an 11 hour flight ahead of us." She says and yawns.

"Are you tired? You're welcome to sleep. It's still the middle of the night anyway," I look at her, scrutinizing.

He lies down while I order a drink. 11 hours caught, miles above together with the love of my life who still not broke my heart.

She seems to have fallen asleep quickly so I sit down next to her and watch her shallow breathing.

Another panic attack wouldn't be so good up here. She sleeps so peacefully so quietly that I hardly notice that I am also drifting off to sleep.

While I slip down more and more without noticing it, Bella snuggles up to me again. I freak out for a second and just let it happen.

Cuddle my head on hers, grab her hand and stroke my thumb gently over the back of her hand.

Her lips draw a small smile on her face.

"no, only England was my only destination" I say and gently stroke her back. Oh man my heart-doctor is going nuts if my heart doesn't calm down soon. But I love it, the tingling, the goosebumps and Bella....

Actually now would be a good time to say what I feel but I don't want to ruin this one moment.

After all, we still have a few hours left and damn it, I just want to spend them with her! I cheekily tickle her back and promptly get the answer.

Not just anywhere no...to one of the first places we were going to. after a short sprint and completely out of breath I ask the cab driver if he can give us a lift.

Luckily he can give us a ride and before we know it we are there. When I wanted to take my hand to me, Bella just grabbed it again and lightly pressed it shut. I first look at my hand and then into her eyes. She is obviously smiling happily.

I quickly gave the driver his money and we got out. There it is...The figure standing on a massive pedestal made of a copper shell that stretches on a steel framework in the right hand a gold-plated torch. The Statue of Liberty.

"wow even from here it is really huge" even Bella marveled.

"crazy..." here I am standing on American soil, the Statue of Liberty in front of me, and that together with Bella. That it has come so far I would never have thought but fate means it exceptionally times well with me.

Bella is still looking at the statue without knowing that she is the main attraction here.

Hardly people around us I just grab her hand, pull her to me and without wasting time our lips meet. Everything around us becomes surreal almost empty and at the same time it is as if a bomb has exploded right next to us. Her lips are so soft and tender without resistance.

I more or less detach myself from her lips and look at her silently without even the slightest hint of an expression.

"Friends huh..." I whisper. She didn't resist the kiss. Question answered I thought but hell was I wrong.

The complete answer still comes as she takes my face in her hands, still hesitates a little but finally fills the space between us. This time our two lips are completely in harmony, clearly more demanding and greedy. God how I hope that is not just a dream.

My heart prepares to stop while Bella's breathing gets out of control. We involuntarily and breathlessly break away as we look into each other's eyes. Face to face pretty close I can feel her fast breaths on my lips and the heat.

I bite my lower lip before I lose control not to kiss her once again. "I'm leaving the friend zone," I whisper, barely audible. "fuck" I can't and just steal another kiss from her, she totally melting into it.

Finally, Bella made a sound, but not the one I expected. A soft sigh. She seems to enjoy it. We disengage again, and as we do, I look at her seriously. "You have no idea how big my crush is on you" I take a deep breath and gently grab one of her hands.

"Y/N...." She looks at me lovingly with her red cheeks. "you were just a girl in the bar. I knew WHO you were and I was a fan of yours before...I admit that, but I never thought this would happen. for real!"

She looks at my hand and thinks what to say. "Normally I avoid all the fans, you haven't given the impression that you want to jump on me" There it is again, the sweet smile of hers.

"I wanna be your Lover for the rest of my life!" I speak softly. "I want to be the one who protects you, accompanies you to all possible interviews to stand by you. want to hold you tight whenever you have another nightmare. wake up next to you every day and punch everyone in the face who gets too close to you.

Maaan Bella looks so happy. She hugs me and burries her face in my neck. "you are the cutest I swear!" She mumbles in my shoulder, realizing how people starts looking again.

"we should go" She says shortly and grabs my hand. "I don't care what people saying" We ignore all the people and walking to the different places like coffeeshops and a few other sights until the time comes to go to our next plane.

A/N: Things getting interesting. So If I am done with the whole plot I will be open for requests of yours.

What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year? How did it turn out and would you do it again? - I broke up my multi-chapters into one-shots and shorter fics. It worked out so far! Makes it much easier to work on.

How many fics did you work on this year? (They don’t have to be finished or published!) - Five. Four are published, I've got the fifth one almost ready to go. I'm hoping to have it finished before the new year, but it's... long now.

What’s something you learned about yourself as a writer? - I am really drawn to damaged characters, I like to explore them and try and bring them some peace and healing. While also doing that writer thing and poking them with a stick.

What piece of media inspired you the most? - Hannibal the TV series. That will become readily apparent later.

What fandom(s) did you write for this year? - Marvel (Blackhill) and Harry Potter (Fleurmione)

What ship(s) captured your heart? - Fleurmione!

What character(s) captured your heart? - Listen, I didn't know I liked Hermione Granger, at all. It was very surprising to all of us.

What were your go-to writing snacks? - I'm not much of a snacker? I like pistachios if I'm going to snack.

What was the hardest fic to title? - None of them were hard to title. I guess the Christmas one took me the longest to narrow down from my options?

“Ah ha, it was Stark! Should have known.” Barton slumped back down into the couch and returned his attention to the television. “That guy lives to push buttons. Especially yours. Maybe even more so than Fury’s.”

“Maybe we should put a parental lock on Cap’s devices,” Natasha added, a familiar mischief in her eyes and that lopsided grin of hers when she looked at Maria. “Commander, can we make that happen? 23. Share the final version of a sentence or paragraph you struggled with. What about it was challenging? Are you happy with how it turned out? - "The pain would never end. The intricate agony Bellatrix weaved for her, like the conductor of a torment symphony, reached deep, touching and torching everything. Every nerve and fiber, every stray thought, it burned through her synapses and fried her emotions, her rigid control to ash. Her torturer's masterpiece of anguish seized and strangled her lungs, stabbed through her belly, poured on her tongue and down her throat like honeyed acid. It twisted around her spine, pooled in her joints, and snapped every finger and toe." - I was trying to get the horrendous torture across without being too graphic and gory about it. As a horror fan and someone who loves a good action movie, too, I don't usually shy away from writing violence, but I wanted to be gentle here and I had to find a way to do that. I'm actually really happy with how it turned out. To me, it's much, much nicer than the more detailed version I originally had written.

24. What's something that surprised you while you were working on a fic? Did it change the story? - I had some interesting ideas pop up while I was outlining Vigilante (I haven't published that Fleurmione fic yet.) It didn't change that story so much, but I did end up going back and creating 5 other fics that will be precursors to it.

25. What did you use to write? (e.g. writing programs, paper & pen, etc.) - I use Novel Factory to track my word counts and keep all of my details in one place. Very handy. I usually draft in Word and paste into NF when I'm finished. This is all on my laptop, unless I'm breaking down a scene or taking notes, then I use my reMarkable tablet.

26. If you had to choose one, what was THE most satisfying writing moment of your year? - When I posted a chapter of Red Sorrow and a chapter of Life Signs one right after the other! Two fics going at the same time! WILD.

27. Did you do anything special to celebrate finishing a fic? - I went to bed early LOL

28. How did you recharge between fics? - I consume a lot of media. If I'm feeling depleted I give myself permission to watch something like Brooklyn99 or a dumb slasher movie, maybe Lord of the Rings if I have the time. Just to watch something for fun instead of studying or seeking inspiration.

29. If this were an awards show, who would you thank? - Sarah, Seamount, AJ, thank you so much for reading things that I've thrown at you and finding all of my missed or incorrectly used commas. - My new friends on the Fleurmione Discord, thank you for being so welcoming. It's been a crazy year and I really appreciate you taking me in so readily!

30. What’s something that you want to write in 2024? - Oooh. Okay. I want to start the Fleurmione fic "A Ghost In The Hallway Grinning," and my really fun Blackhill fic "Everyone Goes Home." I've got a lot of things outline and ready to go, just haven't had the time to knock them all out yet. I hope 2024 will be a fun and prolific year! So I haven’t listened to the full album through but similar to revenge I’ve heard a few songs. I haven’t listened to the EP yet tho. I’m excited because the killjoy vibes are immaculate. Let’s see if this butters my buns.

Look Alive, Sunshine: ok I’ve heard this before and while this is sick as hell we all know this is just the lead up to Na Na Na. Shit fucks hard, let’s kick it.

Na Na Na: A certified banger in every way and it fucks so god damn hard! Love the song to death, one of my all time favorites. Shit makes you feel like you can fight god! Everybody wants to change the world, but no one wants to die! And then the guitar goes apeshit!

Bulletproof Heart: Another I’ve heard before and one that’s just so so good. Gravity don’t meaaan too much to meeee! God I love this one so much, I actually haven’t listened to it much recently but god I’ve missed it. It’s like seeing an old friend again and going skating. Man this one fucks so severely!

4. what is the plot bunny you’ve been carrying for the longest? optional bonus question: do you ever wonder why you haven’t written it yet and experience deep existential dread?

Ooof. I have plot bunnies that have been hopping around for like 20 years, I swear. But one that I actually started writing but just never did anything with was an ACD Canon Holmes/Watson story about Watson being blackmailed by Milverton. I think I wrote about 2k words of that before getting distracted by something else. That's also the answer to why I haven't written a lot of my bunnies, because I get distracted by other ideas.

5. have you ever made a playlist about something you were writing

No, I just put the same song on repeat and write to the beat. While I've been writing this week, I've been playing Belinda Carlisle's Heaven Is A Place On Earth.

7. tell us about the plot of the first fanfic you ever wrote

Oh my god, it was this, from fucking 2008. I probably have followers younger than this fic. Zero plot. Just two characters fucking.

8. what’s your relationship with constructive criticism and feedback like? do you seek it out? how well do you take it?

If it's from my betas, I happily accept it. If it's some random person going 'Hey, I didn't like XYZ.' I ignore it. If it's someone going 'This sucks/I hate this/Fuck you.' I get really pissed off.

10. at what point in the process do you come up with titles, and how easy or hard is that for you?

Titles either come to me immediately when I'm plotting out the story, or as soon as I'm done. There's very little in between. The one fic that gave me the worst time with regards to a title was probably Whisper. I am SO proud of this story, but the title almost did me in. I actually put off posting it for like three days because I didn't know what to call the damn thing, and that was linked to the fact that until the point of the climax I still didn't know what I was going to call the Big Bad since they don't actually appear until then.

On the other hand, the ColdFlash series I'm currently working on, I had the first story titled after about 1k words, and that made titling the rest of the series that I've plotted out easy, because they'll all be along the same punny theme.

11. what’s something neat you’ve learned while doing research for something you were writing? also, how much do you worry about doing research in general?

My research is usually divided into two groups: Fact checking with the canon source material, for things like 'Wait, what's the height difference between these characters again?' (Three inches) 'Did Jason wear the weird muzzle mask thing while this story was taking place?' (Yes.) 'What would Eddie order right now?' (Chicken dan dan noodles and a steak for Vee) OR excruciatingly exact technical details that almost no one ever pays much attention to but if I don't make sure I get it perfectly correct I will want to tear my hair out, like 'How long would it take for these characters to walk from point A to point B?' (Roughly 4.5 hours, weather permitting, and trust me I have tried to find details about the weather on specific Roman feast days in early Roman occupied south Britain. No such luck.) When I was writing Holmes pastiche, I did a lot of research on late Victorian post boy and bath house scandals.

The neatest thing I've learned recently was probably the different 'mancies. Like Necromancy, Tyromancy, and so on. All so I could make a gag about a cheese and onion tart. Which I'm pretty sure only I and maybe three other people thought was funny.

Here are the albums that I enjoyed the most this year, and I will try to explain (very poorly because I’m not used to write in English) why I’ve loved them so much. A little disclaimer: not all of these albums have come out during this year, some are from 2021, but I listened to them during 2022 and they have accompanied me throughout this year.   Magic stills exists – Agnes (2021)

This was an album that I came to love gradually, but once I did I really could stop listening on repeat. It has a basic concept, as it repeats the same one or two sentences in a few songs: “Free your mind and free your body” and “the soul has no gender”. I think it’s an album with some contrasts, because on one hand you have some huge bangers and then on the other there are a few 1 or 2 minute songs that have very little music and are just like some kind of mantras. And theeeen if this wasn’t enough, when it’s seems like it’s over, the title track comes in and it’s just Agnes’ voice and a piano and it’s the most beautiful thing you’ve ever listened. Definitely my favorite album this year. If you have to listen to two songs of the album, let them be “24 hours” and “Here comes the night”.

  Heaven’s just a flight – Caroline Kingsbury (2021)

Spotify recommended me “Breaking Apart” and meanwhile I love that song, it was “Kissing Someone Else” that did it for me. It has a very well made 80’s vibe, and it kinda reminded me of some glam rock tracks that my sister made me listen when I was little. And if this wasn’t enough, she was the opening artist for St. Lucia during their tour this year, so it’s just an artist that I HAD to like. She’s not much known and the album is just great. As I said, “Kissing Someone Else” is the best song for me and then I’m just obsessed with “Massive Escape” and how it crescendos during the last chorus is fantastic.

  Big Time – Angel Olsen (2022)

How could it not be one of my favorite albums this year? It’s just magical. I think it’s quite a sensitive album because of the context in which it was written and recorded, but it’s just beautiful and even more special to listen live. Angel’s an artist that I can’t seem to describe in one genre, but every album that she’s put out since I’ve been following her is spotless. Special mention to “Chasing the sun” and “All the good times”.

 And now I will try to now extend myself too much in the following albums but I just love them so much:

  The Loneliest Time – Carly Rae Jepsen (2022)

Of course she had to be here. She just knows how to use a synth and a bass so well. I enjoyed this album even more than Dedicated, and that’s big hahaha. Special mention to “Anxious”, “Bad thing twice” and of course the album title track “The loneliest time” that was the loveliest music video.

  Midnights – Taylor Swift (2022)

Well I don’t thing I have to explain a single thing about why this album’s in this list, do I? She’s just Taylor. My favorites are “Snow on the beach” and probably “Mastermind”, but I’m still listening to it because I haven’t had the chance yet (Taylor deserves all my attention).

  How to let go – Sigrid (2022)

Meanwhile I don’t love it as much as Sucker Punch, it’s a great album full of hard synths and just… I love Sigrid’s voice so much. Quite predictable, but my choices are “A driver saved my night” and “Mirror”.

  HISTORY – The Knocks (2022)

These guys KNOW who they collaborate with. I mean in what world would you have an album with Muna, Foster the People and Dragonette? They’re just great and thanks to them I was introduced to Cannons, which are kind of a more accessible version of Chromatics (in my taste of course) and I’ve enjoyed them very much. My favorites are “Gimme Love” with Yoke Lore and OOOF COURSE “Bodies” with Muna.

  Formentera – Metric (2022)

Metric are just one of those rare band that one knows that whatever they publish you will love. I’m biased, I’ve been following them since their Scott Pilgrim years and since then their style has changed but they know so well what sounds make them who they are that it’s impossible not to love this new album. Of course the 10-minute “Doomscroller” is a masterpiece, but I had to choose I would probably end up with “I will never settle”, it reminds me of the Fantasies era and that guitar and synth at the end is incredible.

  CRASH – Charli XCX (2022)

I had not enjoyed something by Charli so much since Sucker (I know, I have to give the other albums a go) and since she published the main singles before the album came out I knew I was going to love Crash. I think it’s more accessible than some of her previous work (at least for me) and there’s not much else to say. It’s a really good pop album. I reeeeally enjoy “Lightning” and “Constant repeat” (I do love me a song with looped music)

  Utopia – St. Lucia (2022)

There’s not much that I can say about St. Lucia. They’re my favorite band and whatever they put out I will love. I think that’s why Utopia is not in my Top 3, it’s because they’re songs that I listen and once I do I process it and I’m like “okay yup I will love it forever”. They’re extremely personal to me, and so if someone reads this and hasn’t listened to them I cannot urge you more to do it. You will not regret it. In this case I’m not sure I can choose one or two, buuuuut okay, it would probably be “Touch” and the main single “Rocket on my feet”.

  MUNA – MUNA (2022)

Another band that I don’t think I have to explain too much. Sad sapphics people, what more can I say? Maybe not so sad as older albums; this time it’s more horny, but still I got a good cry out from “Shooting star” which is probably my favorite in there together with “Home by now”.

  Alpha Zulu – Phoenix (2022)

And last but not least Phoenix are back!! And with a beauuuuutiful album. They never disappoint, they deliver. Sincerely I wouldn’t be able to sing a single lyric of this album because I don’t understand half of what Thomas says, but the music is SO good and so well produced that there’s no need to understand anything. My favorite cannot be another song but “Winter solstice” and then I also love “After midnight” a lot (that ending omg). Both music videos are also really interesting, and if someone has the chance please watch their live performance at the Museum of the Performative Arts in Paris (I think it’s that museum, I’m looking for it on youtube but I can’t seem to find it), it’s amazing.

Last thing I googled; who even knows I have this Erweiterung on firefox what is that called in English add-on! anyway I have this add-on that performs 50bajillion random searches to mess with data tracking. But I think the last thing that I personally googled was probably the local weather to see when it would be sunny :D

Relationship status: married since September 2019 (we didn't know that we were bringing on the apocalypse, I swear). We had a rainbow steampunk wedding at an amusement park on top of a cliff, it was fun.

Song stuck in my head: Ooof, that's hard, there are several, you can check out my Current Earworms playlist for all of them, but in the past few months I've been listening to a lot of Stromae and Alec Benjamin, and then of course Lover, Lover, Lover by Leonard Cohen has been stuck in my head since I wrote a fanfic to it. The verse:

He said, "I locked you in this body I meant it as a kind of trial, You can use it for a weapon Or to make some woman smile."

has been, ahh, resonating with me a lot.

Last song I listened to: Darkside by Neoni (which I started listening to cause it has a Sandman fanvid set to it, you should watch, is good).

Three favorite foods: Duck confit, chocolate truffles, and my favorite restaurant makes these french onion soup dumplings that are ama... Kkay, look, I know how this sounds, but my mother was born in France, she got me started on this stuff early. I'm not a food snob, I swear. (A food domme, maybe, but...) Look, I literally had a fast food burger with extra cheese for dinner.

Last thing I google searched: A hamentaschen recipe (I'm late this year, I know. I was on vacation for two weeks over the holiday and then re-entry was difficult so I didn't really have baking energy until this weekend). I have always been devoted to Smitten Kitchen (who has my absolute favorite challah recipe), but her pastry skills are clearly better than mine because whenever I try her various hamantaschen recipes they fall apart on me. This time I used Tori Avey's no-fuss recipe and they came out much prettier (if, yes, less buttery and flaky).

Dream trip: My college bestie and I have always dreamed of taking two or three months and doing an eastern Mediterranean boating tour. Like, get one of those big catamaran yachts and visit Italy, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, and Egypt. One day when we win the lottery, right?

Anything I want right now: I'd really like a million dollars or so to buy the duplex next door so they don't tear it down and force my family to live next to a construction zone for however long (it'd probably be more than that, depressingly—housing prices are ridiculous here right now—but I imagine if I had a million in cash to put down I could get an offer approved). We just got the demolition notification about a month ago and... yeah. Gonna suck. Plus I've got ambitions of building (more of a) polyam spoonie co-op out here.

Barring that, a licensed contractor in the Denver who can build a wheelchair ramp, is willing to work with the mill levy funding process, and won't ghost me after our initial consultation would be super rad.

See, I’ve been a podcast lover for about 5 years now but it’s always been non-fiction and usually conversational (you’re wrong about is my absolute fave) so even though the medium was familiar the content was so different.

Why are you trying to destroy me again. Do you know how much I cried over lilly. Do you understand how I sobbed when John and Arthur got separated. I’m so attached.

1. heck yeah. I’ve historically had a hard time getting into podcasts for: “can’t focus on spoken words without visual stimuli” reasons (drawing fanart has actually made it immensely easier to focus on them for me.

2. Woe.begone has like a lot of deeply tragic moments. It’s funny too but OOOF

3. Not on the uk currently but lived there in the past for university and would like to move back there agains. And Oooo boy are things rough there rn. I finished uni right before the major backlash started about trans rights on a political scale and the social sentiment was just starting to turn.

4. Relatable/ huge mood, that was my own sentiment/experience watching the show unfold.

(Also, A fun fact about woe.begone is Harlan creator of malevolent does voice a character in it later on in the show. He hasn’t been in it much so far but his character is Great and I know I enjoy him in it. He even sings a song in the post credits part of an episode one time)
