genuinely afraid of the state of the internet rn i see so many ai "pictures" running around and people treating them as real either not knowing its ai bc no one will want to spend a couple minites eyeing it carefully to look for the typical ai trademark and pass them around until it's pointed out it's ai or just don't care bc it's funney and tbh it doesn't matter nor it will end bc in a few hours we'll get a new viral image of a wendy's on fire while employees pummel each other with two men dressed as wizards betting on the background or some shit like that and it'll be hee hee so funny but it feels so dystopian to me it's not real. Those people don't exist this thing never happened and now with the real people porn and deepfake wave coming in and barely no one questioning and accepting as real it feels way darker and im genuinely fearing the not so distant future ai images will be so indistinguishable from real photos i won't be able to tell whats real anymore i may be going overboard w this but it's so scary. I fucking hate ai so much

Grief

batfam grief fic that i've been working on for far too long! is finally here! im back with the angst bois. i'd also like to apologize if this is insanely inaccurate/ooc of them bc lol its me

There are five stages of grief. Bruce knows this. He’s dealt with them before.

Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

Acceptance isn’t a stage Bruce has really gotten to yet. He doesn’t think so, at least. Not sure he ever will. He’s faced the anger and depression before, when his parents died. How he’d taken his anger out on the criminal underbelly of Gotham, using his anger to cleanse her streets of crime. Then spend hours in front of his parents grave, unable to think nor speak.

Now he has another grave to sit in front of, too. Jason’s grave. His second Robin, the one who he wants to make the last. He doesn’t want to doom another boy to death, not when he’d failed Jason.

Some days, Bruce can’t help but wander Crime Alley. Like he was hoping that someway, somehow, he’d run into that scrawny kid Jason had been back then. He’d give anything to see him trying to steal a tire off the Batmobile again. Anything. Hell, he wouldn’t even mind being hit with the tire-iron again.

He also sometimes wonder if Dick blames him just as much as he blames himself. If only he’d been a little faster. If only he could have been quicker, then he could’ve saved him. Saved his son.

Sometimes, when he closes his eyes, he can still see the explosion before him. The bright glowing hues, vibrant enough to leave specks of color behind his eyes for days to come. The sudden wash of heat, the ringing in his ears. Some days he can still hear and see the explosion that took his son from him, left him as a failure of a father and mentor.

He makes himself remember his failure by putting up a memorial of Jason in the Batcave. Curse him if he ever dared to forget his greatest failure; the failure to save his son.

The failure of not being able to protect him.

Dick could never blame Bruce. Bruce hadn’t been the one to set that bomb. Bruce hadn’t been the one to beat Jason senseless. But that didn’t mean he had the courage to go over and visit.

Not when Jason’s memorial, even his own grave would be there to taunt him. To give him a bitter reminder that his little wing was gone. He wishes he’d visited Gotham more often before Jason died, spent a little more time there. His way of grieving Jason’s death is quiet, with his emotions doing all the talking behind the doors of his apartment.

Dick is broken by the loss, but he is nowhere near as shattered as Bruce. Dick is used to working alone now. Bruce has to grow used to the quiet. How he can’t turn to ask his Robin a question to keep him on his toes and alert.

He also has to see how Alfred sometimes forgets to not set out an extra plate where Jason would sit to eat. Pot roast doesn’t taste quite as good as it used to; no matter how good of a cook Alfred is. It just makes him nauseated by the smell of it; and now it had been Jason’s favorite.

Criminals whisper and talk about how Joker seems to have broken Batman, with the way he wanders. The Gotham Gazette talks about how distanced and quiet billionaire Bruce Wayne seems. Citing testimonies from Wayne Enterprises employees of how he seems to look out the windows if his office; as if he were in a different place. In a trance.

Of course, Bruce doesn’t try to let this impact his work. He works more than he used to. Makes a record of locking up criminals and going through dizzying stacks of documents in mere hours.

Bruce busies himself. Drowns himself in work he knows that can be easily delegated to Lucius. Works himself until he’s dead tired, unable to keep his eyes open a moment longer. Even with the aide of caffeine, he still manages to fall asleep. Most nights his efforts are fruitful, and he doesn’t dream. That’s what he wants, to dream of nothing but a void. But that’s only most nights.

Other nights, Bruce dreams. He dreams vivid memories of that night. It’s an endless loop, though. Each time he thinks he gets close enough to save Jason, the warehouse explodes before him and he’s right back to where he started. Running, failing. Running and failing. Running, failing, repeat.

Over and over again. It’s the same ending each time; plays out the same each time. All until he finally wakes up and is freed by the waking world from the relentless cycle.

Bruce once dreamt that he succeeded; saved his son in time. Cradled his son’s broken body in his arms and told him he was sorry, holding him as gentle as he can so he doesn’t hurt him further. That time he’d even told his son, in that dream, that it’s okay to fail sometimes. He didn’t have to be the perfect Robin. That he didn’t need to be as great of a Robin as Dick was. That he was good enough in his own right, in his own way. Even apologizing for never saying it when he should’ve, promising to say it more often.

And then he woke up.

He woke up and remembered that he hadn’t saved his son. That he didn’t get to him in time. He’d been too late, just like his apologies were coming far too late.

When Tim first comes into the picture, taking the mantle as Robin via means of blackmail, he wasn’t expecting the void it had left for him to fill. Bruce always seemed careful around him, sometimes nearly calling him by a name that wasn’t his. Jason. It happened quite a bit the first few weeks, and Alfred had almost mistakenly had him sit where Jason used to.

Tim does his best to learn about Jason. Trying to find scraps of information throughout the manor, trying to piece together what he needed to figure out just how big the void he was filling was. And it’s hard to find much of anything, besides pictures. But he did learn more from the library, which had been neglected since his death. Alfred came in to clean it, of course. But it otherwise was devoid of people.

Tim learned about Jason through the books he’d read, reading his annotations. Noting how some books seemed more loved than the others. And what he deduced was simple.

He could be Robin, but he could never be the same Robin neither Dick or Jason were. He could never completely fill the shattered void left by Jason’s violent death. And he hoped he never would.

Sometimes Tim can’t help but feel like he doesn’t belong. The way the memorial for Jason stands in the Batcave, almost like a hovering promise to tell Tim that he had no right to be here. What good had he done, forcing a man to take him on in the same role his dead son once held? What right did Tim have to sit in the mantle of Robin? What audacity?

Perhaps even now, Tim will wonder what right he had. What right to demand to be Bruce’s next Robin. Because he’ll never know, truly. He may think of himself as better than Jason, but is he truly?

Adriane Tepes/Alucard: Bro's mom got murdered and his dad went insane and tried to wipe out humanity, and Adrian had to kill him to save everyone. AND THEN he had to deal with people trying to revive his dad to cause even more deaths! Also he's immortal so he's outlived everyone he's ever cared about 😭

Jason Todd: (tw: sexual assault mention) the second robin, gets taken in by bruce after his abusive dad walks out and his mum dies of an overdose (and he also steals the wheels of the batmobile, king). bruce trains him to be robin and for his original run he was a pretty cute kid (with the occasional Angst Arcs that are pretty common w robin - special shoutout to jason finding out his dad was actually killed by two face and he just didnt know, and an arc where a woman that reminds him of his mum gets raped by a guy that iirc has diplomatic immunity i think?? or enough power to get away with it? anyway jason fucking kills him so not that immune ig) then death in the family happened and jason found out his mum isnt his biological mum so he sets off trying to find his bio mum, and eventually he meets her, but shes working for the joker and sells jason out to him. the joker then proceeds to beat jason with a crowbar and blows the building hes in up with his mum also inside it, killing them both. dc then does a fun thing for the next 20 years where they start treating jason like the '"""troubled""" """angry""" robin who was too reckless and was always going to end up dead. eventually dc brings jason back (as dc is wont to do), by having him wake up inside his coffin years after dying, dig his way out with his bare hands, and walk half-dead in the general direction of wayne manor until he's hit by a car and taken to the hospital (where all his says is 'bruce' over and over, and when asked who bruce is he responds 'my dad' and passes out) eventually he ends up in talia al ghul's care and is dunked in a lazarus pit to revive him completely, and he finds out not only is the joker still alive, but batmans also replaced him as robin. jason returns to gotham as red hood and has an honestly pretty slay arc where he taunts bruce by doing a better job of cleaning up gotham than him ngl. eventually it all culminates with him luring batman to a building where hes keeping the joker and telling b that his no kill rule is bullshit, and he shouldve killed the joker for taking jason away from him. he gives bruce an ultimatum thats basically if you dont kill me ill kill the joker, you gotta pick' and bruce chooses to instead disarm jason and save them both, and jason escapes. what follows is a lot of ups and downs for red hood comics (mostly due to the "angry robin" narrative dc writers have spun, making a lot of jasons appearances wildly ooc fights, lots of weird (tragically in character) cringefail behaviour, and this odd period where hes a natural redhead and his helmet is this ugly dome). itd be too long to list every jason todd sadboy moment from the last 20 years here but i do want to give a special shoutout to a currect story arc where bruce (who thinks hes being controlled by a 'perfect batman' hes got in his head) gets sick of jason's """reckless behaviour""" and fucking alters jasons brain chemistry so that whenever his adrenaline rises, he'll have a panic attack so severe hes basically incapacitated and can barely speak through his fear (the instant he escapes bruce's captivity he jumps into a burning building to save a little girl im SOFT for him!!). also second special shoutout to the jason todd in the arkham games who didnt even have the luxury of dying at the jokers hand, and was instead tortured for like 3 years, branded, beaten by p much everyone in batmans rogues gallery (and some of jokers goons dressed as batman), eventually jason breaks himself out only to find out that NOT ONLY has bruce replaced him, but it took the man like. a month. like jason wouldnt be thought dead for a long time, he was missing and bruce just went 'ill let this new kid adopt himself' ig? also theres a vr game in the arkham series where you can go into arkham asylum and hear jason screaming 🙃

mmm love writing ren post-royal and his character regression and people hitting me with the 'thats ooc for joker though' and im like listen. listen? reverse character development is fun and sexy actually. let them become Worse

and within my ren's canon, a character regression works because ren was raised in an enmeshed family. and toxic familial abuse cycles are magnified by proximity. especially wherein the abuser is unable to see the victim as anything other than an extension of themselves.

an enmeshed victim doesnt act like themselves when under the abusers influence. ren the person takes a backseat to a series of behaviors (healthy or otherwise) he developed while trying to cope with and survive the trauma he went through while living with his parents for 16 whole years. that doesn't just... become resolved even though he was able to grow in tokyo.

if anything, something like that can make it even harder to be put back in that kind of environment. i speak from experience. its such a devastating thing. you live in the dysfunction for so long you dont realize its impact until youve been away from it. you were okay. you felt better and you didnt even realize it until things go back to the way they were before. that moment of mindfulness, of being horribly aware of the before and the after can be so depressing.

environment is everything.

during his year on probation ren started developing emotional equity and forming the closest thing they've had to secure attachments up to that point. ren arrived in tokyo traumatized. he was planning on keeping his head down and staying quiet. he didnt want to make any friends. he didn’t think he could. what would be the point in trying? others would make up their minds about him as soon as they’d find out he was a criminal. they would abandon him, too.

ren didn't trust anyone around him. they decided they would create a personality as cold and distant as they needed to in order to protect themselves. then the universe dropped one Ryuji Sakamoto in front of him and those plans began to fall apart. ryuji, ann, and morgana literally opened ren up to wanting to TRUST people again. that maybe he isn't as damned as he was made to believe.

he grew as a person and found where he belonged. but he isn't free yet. ren's parents do everything they can to erase that person. they still command enough control over ren through their traumabond that re-inspires rens learned fear of them. so ren's trauma brain allows them to slowly pick away at the confidence and sense of self he'd come to find. even if its a betrayal of himself. even if at times he's able to summon the courage of joker put up a fight, its rare for him to see any wins.

ren's parents rule by emotional abuse. fear. and isolation. they go from shaming him heavily for a year with the silent treatment, to scrutinizing and watching his every move. trying to have control over every aspect of him again. where he goes. who he talks to. what he spends money on. how he spends his time. ren begins regressing more and more. and its not only their toxicity that lend to this. even if his parents were healthy and loving, ren still would have struggled deeply because of everything he'd been through over the year he was away.

aside from the horrific trauma he endured at the hands of the police, being toyed with by a malevolent god who erased his friends from existence in front of his eyes, and being betrayed by an adult he trusted in maruki, ren lost goro twice, and in the wake of that loss, was separated from his irl support system.

death and the grief that comes from it transform the life of the person experiencing it. it changes how you interact with your routines, hobbies, relationships, and even yourself. the person that emerges from a grief situation is not the same one who experienced the tragedy it in real time. and rens grief at times is powerful enough to swallow him whole. to impact his functioning as he tries to go about his life.

and every time he falls below his parents standards, tries to establish autonomy, they just punish him more. isolate him more by taking away his phone, his laptop, his only lifelines to his friends. he's going to get worse. hes not going to act like his authentic self. hes going to fall into his worst mindsets and make unhealthy decisions. even someone like ren, who knows full well his parents treat him like shit, at his core, still wishes for their love and approval. its one of the hardest things to reconcile with, even as a adult, that your parents will never be the people you need them to be.

in a way, he's got to grieve over that, too, now that he knows now what unconditional love looks like. (because of his found family and friends) like, this kid was ghosted by their parents for a whole year. after his life as he knew it was completely shattered and he was shipped off to the city to live with a total stranger. ren had been effectively abandoned by them to fend for himself. i cannot begin to comprehend how fucking emotionally damaging that is.

imagine that happening to you and then at the end of your year away, after you've been through so much more hell (most of which you cant tell any normal person about) youre just supposed to??? go back to living in their house with them??? after they did that to you? like. thats fucking sick. and then go back to gaslighting you and acting like they didn't hurt you. and theyre the victims, actually.

because, and this cant just be me, my button would never. my button might think about it, but my button would never say that aloud or THINK about saying it aloud. but i do want to potentially go down that avenue of K's romance without ut being wholly OOC for my Button to suddenly have this confidence to say that?? like maybe the option is "I open my mouth to offer a suggestion but [Sally/Glitch/idk] cuts me off with a joke, 'You and K could always fake date lol'." and when you select that option, it then cuts to a scene then of button looking to K, embarassed, and K saying "(cue me simplifying K saying "I can do that. Are you okay with doing that?" into) Can you do that?" and Button stutters "Uh, I, sure? I-I can do that." and the joker is like "I did not think you two would be down for that but okay we're doing that now" and BAM theyre fake-dating

i can get if button bringing it up is important for K (i assume it is anyway? idk), but is there a way to compromise maybe?? im just spitballing here

Hmm . . . possibly! Probably, even, once I start on the second draft. (You don’t need to pick the undercover dating option to romance K, but that route does have the most romantic moments.)

To be completely honest, I need to go back and rework all the coding for the crush and relationship variables because I coded most things at whim with vague ideas of “oh yes, this is how the relationship will probably go” while also trying to leave things open so that players aren’t locked in until they’ve had time to explore the ROs. And then I never remember what I coded in the past chapters (I need a better system, and that will be the first thing done once the story is on the page).

I could definitely see Glitch and Sally being sly and trying to set things up if Button has expressed interest in K to both of them and not pursued anyone else!

Three Jokers Spoilers and CW for mentions of trauma

Ok a lot of people like me are very not into JayBabs at all (1. Because she’s too old for him (DC stop deaging her im begging) 2. Babs is being pushed into another random relationship with another random bat boy 3. She was basically his tutor/ babysitter in the past wtf dc) but beyond that THIS SCENE

IS SO MESSED UP FROM A REALISTIC STANDPOINT

Jason in this scene is so vulnerable, he is emotional and looking for validation of being cared about. It is so problematic for this to turn into a kiss, especially without any indication of any romantic intention beforehand. It boggles my mind. He is coming down from a full on break down, feeling very emotional, and has just been told is cared about. For that to immediately be followed up with a kiss is so manipulative, and the last thing Jason needs in that moment. Barbara could be anyone in this scene, at that moment Jason would have let anyone who said those words to him kiss him, because of his trauma. It’s just wrong for the scene to play out like that. This is how abuse victims end up staying with their abusers, it is not romantic. It is a perfect example of how people with trauma end up associating emotional support and validation with romantic, sexual, and physical actions. This scene demonstrates Jason literally hearing “you’re cared about” for the first time and immediately ties it to being kissed. Even if he kissed her, she shouldn’t have let him. It opens people up to being taken advantage of, gaslighting, and all sorts of messed up associations of love, support, and sex. It’s toxic.

And a hero would know that. Barbara Gordon would know that, and she wouldn’t do that even if she was interested in Jason like that (which... where is that build up??? N52?? Because no thank you). She literally spent half the issue trying to tell Bruce to take Jason down (which is another whole can of worms) and suddenly she sees him naked and vulnerable and becomes interested in him?? What??? That’s so fucked.

Point is, Jaybabs aside, this scene is problematic as hell, and Barbara would not do that. It’s poor characterization, and another instance of Babs being made to do out of character shit for the sake of a relationship (I’m so tired).

Also not to be that person but imagine the scene from a swapped perspective, if Jay was the woman and Babs the man. If a fully clothed man (in a super suit no less) had kissed a emotionally traumatized half naked girl in this situation way more people would be calling this out as problematic. Just becbecause Barbara is a hero doesn’t mean this is okay and just because Jason is a man doesn’t mean it’s any less problematic to fetishize his emotional vulnerability. This scene is fucked up (and very ooc for Babs) for more reasons than just jaybab.

DC VS VAMPS 6 SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT

first of all im glad they didnt villanize jason, and im glad they didnt kill dick bc frankly we are all sick of that. but what made me mad was when dick said “father” with the quotes around it, like as if you dont think of him as your dad. holy shit. holy shit. sorry for being a batfam stan but like. bruce and dick are extremely important to eachother and it makes me so mad when writers dont acknowledge that. though it totally could have been bc of the vampire thing, but still.

anyways.

yeah dick was girlbossing and its cool that he wasn’t the victim for once! (and he was hot) but i think that this was like. i dont want to say ooc because i think that this isn’t dick, its the vampire stuff with the body and memories of dick. the real dick wouldnt do something like that, and its the vampire thingy that corrupted him.

i disagree with the people saying that dick is “uncorruptable”, (i think if anyone is uncorruptable in this sense, its bruce*) because like. he has broken the no-kill rule before (or at least tried, depending on the timeline) and while yeah. id kill the joker too if i were him, and i dont think dick is perfect by any means, it shows that he does have like, the capability to kill and to sway his morals. but that doesn’t really matter, because the thing that killed those people isn’t the real dick. it’s the vampire dick. and i think we can’t compare those two.

i enjoyed that jason didn’t become evil, even in his last moments. but i am sick of him dying lol.

also, i do NOT think cass would have gone down that easily. ofc they made the woc put up less of a fight than the white men, who are the heroes again. despite the fact that everyone knows cass is one of the strongest batfam members period.

also where was roy??? is he dead too??? he and dick are close so...?

and it felt like i didnt have time to process the hal + ollie interactions bc of the MASSACRE overshadowing it. like holllyyy shit.

overall, i thought it was an interesting take. i had some issues w the writing and pacing (never been a huge fan of tynion) and im upset jason died, and i cant say i had fun reading it. but there were a few funny moments. um. yeah.

Okay we got two questions in this vein, so each of the admins replied one with our own thoughts. Okay, i’m not good at putting my thoughts into words so you’re gonna have to bear with me here lol

Okay i’ve talked about my main issue for Titans!Robin Jason here on my own blog, tl;dr i think they took elements from Jasons robin run without the context it came with? Titans Jason comes across as angry and aggresive “just because”. actually there isnt a tl;dr just read the post SORRY

Jason was 11-15 years old when he was robin, which i know it seems like something very minor, aging up isn’t a bad storytelling tool, done right it’s fine etc etc, but in Jason’s case i feel like it actually took away from his story? Like, by aging him up they made his character more “mature”, with elements that simply weren’t found in jasons original robin run when he was just a child. Titans Jason feels more like they’re trying to portray n52 red hood jason rather than robin jason, which.. isn’t a good thing! Because again context matters! Red hood jason is a certain way because certain things happened to him, and by trying to copy and paste that personality into robin jason without those reasons it loses any kind of  nuance it could’ve had. And im pointedly saying n52 jason which we all know is real jason’s tethered, so they’re giving us knock-off  n52 jason when n52 jason was already on the sale display

Honestly titans robin jason is just new 52 red hood jason without anything of what actually made him red hood. and the fact that they’ve already hinted red hood jason WITHOUT ANYTHING! ANYTHING that made him become red hood pisses me off a little, ngl. 

(like he literally became red hood as a fuck you to bruce, and in the show neither the joker nor bruce are important characters??? AND THEY SHOULDN’T??? BECAUSE ITS A TITANS SHOW???)

which brings me to!

while jason was a titan, he wasn’t a MAIN titan, and he should’ve NEVER gotten this much focus. He’s a batman character, his entire story depends ENTIRELY on batman, BRUCE being present. and when you take that away it may as well be an oc. Jason and Dick weren’t even that close in Jason’s robin comics, it just doesnt make senseeeeeee, if anything he was closer to Donna! and if you watched the show you probably saw how Donna hated Jason’s guts! And anyways back on track, why is red hood going to be the villain for a TITANS show when he’s only ONCE, EVER had a villain appearance for them??? And it was during Tim’s era?? And imagine if Tim does appear, why would Jason be mad a thim when HE decided to go away? DOESN’T! MAKE! SENSE! Why are they going out of their way to include Jason somewhere he shouldn’t be more than a guest appearance on? He should be Dick’s annoying yet endearing little brother and that’s it...

And honestly genuinely i despise how they portrayed Bruce as not caring about Jason at all... again, Jason’s relationship with Bruce is the heart of a lot of his storylines.. centering Jason’s story around the titans rather than Bruce.. yeah you may as well have created an oc.

Honestly if i watched season 2 again i could be more specific on stuff titans did that it was like just. seeing some dude named jason, but it’s so bad.. just so bad. 

Anyways. If i took away the robin costume i would’ve NEVER guessed thats supposed to be Jason tbh. Like, honestly, do you see these panels and think “Oh yeah it’s like looking at titans Jason”

Honestly to summarize it, our friend @redarrow sent this to our groupchat a few days ago and i think it’s pretty relevant to the conversation:

Titans, along with almost every story that contains Jason is once again reiterating the narrative that Jason was a bad robin and that he was inherently bad. “His trauma didn’t make him red hood, he was always destined to become a villain/anti hero.”

At the end of the day, these grown adults decided that it would be okay to violently kill off a child in a comic that children read. A character that was specifically made to target a younger audience. Instead of dealing with the consequences of their actions, they try to justify it by retroactively making Jason evil. What really makes me mad is that robin was created for children, and the moment they make a child character have a realistic background to an extent, they basically say there’s no hope for you.

So your first point:

Honestly that is fair. A really good point tho i still dont fully agree. I see where you are coming from and you are right. But i still do think that dying doesnt really fuck your brain up to the point of complete personality switch. I can be wrong about that of course but in that case. Is he still jason at that point? Or just someone with his body, name and memories? But that would be all philosophical. Anyway jason does still have his memories and emotions. So why did he loose all his previous morals?

Second:

Of course there is presence of anger and violence in him even as Robin. He is a human being and a child non the less. I think that a few reactions of anger and violence (especially as a child) doesnt make someones whole personality. He was mainly a kind and sweet kid wanting to help. Of course there were times he acted out of violence and anger he is human and was a kid. Thats normal. Was it a bit extreme? Sure. But he was a kid. Kids do fucked up shit because they dont understand consequences for their actions. They live in the moment and in confusing emotions.

Big chance its related. Im agreeing with you there. I think that jasons child anger most defenitly influences his actions especially his earlier ones.

Point 3:

Good points good points. Jason being defined by trauma most definitly lays with the writers but it still causes what i believe is an ooc jason. Well maybe less ooc and more a badly written character.

I do think that jason does it out of a sense of justice and i also dont think me saying that validates his ways because simply put: justice is relative. What we and the majority of society see as justice is not what jason sees as justice. He does it out of his sense of justice. He actually thinks he is doing the right thing and honestly we cant say if he wrong or right but what we can say is that it very different from his previous morals and ideas of justice.

And when it comes to good and bad we cant be sure either. We dont actually know if jason only does it for himself or also for others. I think you are right. He is selfish and he doing it for himself. He wants the joker dead because he killed him. He wants him dead because he took him away from his family, future, his live. Of course he is mad and acting out of selfish anger. Im not against him killing in the earlier red hood times (not anymore at least) you helped me see that.

This now ties in with the text in put on bold above: why did he loose his morals completely? My answer is: he didnt. His emotions clogged his morals and honestly i think that that is very important and good for his character building. Im agreeing with that. BUT, he cant always be guided by his emotions. He cant just stop thinking about what he does forever. We know he calms down after a while and that thinks about his pre-death him often so why doesnt he ever think about his current actions and tries to change and learn. We constantly have angsty dialog and scenes about him dissapointing or being a disgrace to pre death him and how terrible he feels about it. So why doesnt he try to change? Its because writers cant let go. They cant write a good character development constantly having him stuck in a loop.

I do think he wants to hurt people. I think he wants to hurt people who hurt others. Call it a mix between being selfish, a confused way of wanting to help and personal morality and justice. But i dont think he will always be stuck in that mindset. I think that it is ooc of him as jason and as a person. I think he should learn and develop. He should mature and change.

To be crude: he needs to get out of his victimcomplex and learn to deal with his trauma.

more than valid. I am agreeing with you there. I think there is a tragic beauty in it too and i love jason as those character types dont get me wrong. But i also think that the beauty of those character types is that they can still change and adapt and learn to be loved and love again. Learn to forgive and change.

Point 6:

Honsestly more than valid. You prefering his negative development over his positive one is more than valid. I personally prefer positive most of the time so neither of us are incorrect on this. The way you see him is equally as valid as i see him.

My opinion in short:

Early red hood jason should kill but the longer he is red hood the more he should develop as a person and go closer to his older/original morals and ideals. He can change these later on ofc but keep in mind his goals.

I hope this made sense. I also want to say that neither of us are wrong or right but our opinions are both valid. I see your point. I agree and disagree and i respect it.

I am going to say something a little controversial but Jason Todd is a terribly written character and killing is ooc and does not make sense for his original character

i went to see tlj and tfa double bill last night and i have some feelings..  

when i just fresh came out the cinema i was so relieved that kyle is now utterly unreedemable and that re*lo didnt happen that i was like that wasnt too bad but now ive slept on it im starting to grow more annoyed and these are my feelings:

- the ‘humour’ was jarring and ooc. par examplar jj specifically wrote it in a way that hux is just a pompous arrogant ass youre supposed to hate because hes the fucking leader of a facist group and the scene in tfa where hes gives his speech is supposed to make you see just how evil he is and is incredibly unsettling. turning him into a joke feels like youre dumbing it down and trying to make him ‘likeable’. Having rey make a quip when force bond talking to kylo about putting a shirt pulled ALL of the tension that should have been there out of it and ruined the believability utterly. you honestly expect us to believe tfa rey would be joking with a man that totured her and her friends and murdered the man she looked up to as a father figure? It made it feel like a parody. which is coincidentally how i feel about the whole film. in the vein of villains snoke was treated the same which turns into my next point:    

- he changed the personalities of half the characters. ones that prominently spring to mind - hux, snoke, poe, rey and dont get me STARTED on luke. snoke went from this mysterious calm and collected entity into this charismatic posturing joker before being abruptly discarded, rey was suddenly making ‘jokes’ a lot (emphasis on the apostrophes) and lost most of her personality, i dont even think poe was the same character and then luke. OH BOY LUKE ryan literally took one of the softest sweetest male characters in history luke everybody deserves redemption luke fucking turned his father from the dark side skywalker and literally wrote in a script that this man tried to kill (only for a second but doesnt negate the point) his fucking nephew because he saw dark in him LIKE FUCK OFF. i cannot literally belive that he sat down and thought hmmmmm lets make luke skywalker the creator of kyle ron!!! like the whole luke turned into curmudgeonly old man could have been worked well that part i liked but it was just completely offset by the idea that he would do something like that!!! though tbh i should have known from the moment he just threw the lightsaber rey handed him over his shoulder this wouldnt go well (another jarring moment that brought me straight out of the film just thinking about the stark contrast between that and the raw pain and emtoion in lukes face at the end of tfa makes me MAD what could have BEEN)

- rey was treated as a throwaway for kyles man pain. like her entire ark is about trying to redeem him. because of course its the womans job to save the man who violated her mind, lacerated her friend and killed han solo in front of her. like youre telling me rey would just willingly sacrifice herself literally into the arms of the first order to save that little bitch willingly get herself cuffed taken to snoke and dont get me started on her being tortured in front of kyle to fuel his diffcult choice and man pain :((((((((((((( ‘oh it touched his hand and saw light in his future oh please dont do this kyle!!’ rien literally RUINED one of the first female characters i looked up to in sci fi and turned her from a protag into a side to kyles story. and what was with the really sudden and completely forgotten about part where she went ‘straight to the dark?’ what???? the laughability of it all topped of by the fact that she did it all because they ‘needed a jedi to save them’ because luke wouldnt train her and then at the end shes just fucking moving rocks like its nothing like lmao?? the point??????

- it literally felt like everyone got a rushed and really stupid plot line except kyle. those that are supposed to be the mains were treated like side characters. rey is just there for kyles (and to an extent lukes) man pain, finn and rose’s storyline was??? literally ??????????? his ‘epic’ battle with phasma lasted all of 2 seconds and now shes another character wasted. Poe’s was so incoherent and you know i cant even go INTO lukes  

and to top it off the plot was just a bit shit like as that reviewer said you could literally skip this film and not miss anything and theyre right except youd miss the butchering of one of the greatest characters in cinema and the turning of a .quartet of bright exciting new characters into shells of themselves and fuel for the Sad Story of Kyle Ron. 

like im sure i have more to say but this is the rant off the top of my head i need to get out so yeah fuck this please save us jj i feel ike pure shit just want you back!!!!

I always kinda wanted to take a shot at portraying the Joker, maybe even a Joker Jr. I already have a whole thing about that believe it or not pfpfpfp, Im indecisive at the moment I guess you can say. WHAT’S YOUR OTP FOR YOUR MUSE?: Coming into the fandom, I already liked Zaeed/fShep, with an open-minded consideration for mShep as well. Talking with QT has given me a much deeper appreciation for Zaeed/Samara than I ever expected, too. There are honestly a solid handful of characters I could see potential with if there was interest, but Zaeed is a tricky character to ship with and one that not everyone finds appealing in that way, and I get why, so I don’t tend to push.

WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO RP WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING?: My only hard limit is regarding abusive relationships or toxic power imbalances. If the characters are mutually bad for each other and both have power in the situation, I have no problem, but dynamics in which one character is largely helpless and being victimized get to me, so I don’t write them. I’m also somewhat sparing about smut - I do enjoy writing it from time to time, but it’s more a garnish to me than a main dish, so to speak, and I prefer to be somewhat familiar OOC beforehand, as well.

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?: I'd say anyone I ship Zaeed with should be at least twenty-five. In theory, I have no issue so long as everyone is of legal age, but a ship between a nineteen year old and a fifty year old, while technically legal, would still be off-putting to me.

ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?: Yes and no? I mean, I think everyone reserves the right to not take part in a ship if they feel no chemistry or don’t click OOC with the other mun, but in regard to what I’ll ship, I’ve kind of learned not to set hard limits on myself, because I’ve surprised myself more than a few times by turning out to be into a ship I was ambivalent towards after thinking about it awhile/brainstorming with another mun.

HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY’RE CONSIDERED NS.FW?: I’ll start tagging as soon as tongue gets involved, but won’t put it under a readmore until underwear starts coming off.
