Alan is third? fourth wheeling?~but he’s the gentle giant kind of best friend so it’s allowed.

The Race

“We need to figure out how strong these anomalies are.”

Alan gestured to the three strange vehicles in front of them, as if that was a perfect or reasonable explanation for waking them up at 6AM. The three other students all stood bleary eyed in their pyjamas as they debated the likelieness of coming out of alive after attempting to murder Alan.

The odds were not in their favour.

Xena was an unlucky victim in Alan’s endeavour being brought into the fray just because she was unluckily in the same place as the desired victims.

she was wearing a black hello kitty pj set, Sho was wearing the white and Leo was wearing the pink. It was Leo’s idea to all be matching, after he and Sho kidnapped Xena on her way home. She had worked a big mission with frostheim but there’s no rest for the wicked and she had to jump straight into helping Thoma with all the paperwork and then Jin with whatever annoying tasks he wanted to set for her and THEN Kaito side tracked her and begged for help with his homework which he didn’t even do instead he attempted to flirt whilst getting flustered as he was unable to read her face something that happens way too many times and that kaito keeps telling her makes him nervous.

She was exhausted so when they pulled up on Bonnie and practically swooped her onto the bike she just let it happen. After that they threw her into the already prepared bath, with a special peach bathbomb and a dozen candles surrounding it. Leo had put a seaweed face mask on her as well as himself and Sho who disappeared into his kitchen. She nearly fell asleep in the bath if it weren’t for Leo chattering away as he washed her hair. She was too tired to even argue about the level of doting nor did she want to complain as calmness overtook her as she allowed herself to be spoiled by Leo.she didn’t even complain when he took the selfie of the two of them in their face mask as she sighed in a state of tranquility which overwhelmed her as she melted in Leo’s hands. She didn’t want to leave the bath but through Leo’s insistence she eventually did putting on the prepared pj set that matched with what the other two were already wearing.

Sho cooked them a feast of all different new sample foods for the truck, which she devoured after Leo dried her hair-she wasn’t used to this sort of treatment and generally felt like crying at the tenderness and kindness as both Sho and Leo sat beside her, she took their hands into her own giving each a gentle kiss as she gave them a tired smile. The two looking down at her adoringly as a light blush dusted Sho’s face and a Cheshire Cat grin spread across Leo’s.

The two chattered away as she curled up between them, crashing out almost immediately as she fell asleep to the sound of their voices.

She was usually someone who woke up at the slightest thing, yet she was out like a light the whole night…that was until Alan came charging in blaring an air horn without realising Xena was there too. She was hidden between the two in a mini blanket mountain as both Sho and Leo curled into her, the two shouting profanities at Alan as they tried to hide with her in the blanket mountain.

The three bleary eyed and ready to murder squad was dragged outside to the quad, Alan was apologetic for Xena but not entirely as it did help with what he needed.In a state of confusion they allowed Alan to guild them there thinking it was an emergency-although Xena and Leo had to be convinced not to kill the captain of vagastrom by a very tired and exasperated Sho.

Thus here they were staring at the vehicles in outstounded fury as Alan looked at them expectantly.

“What the fuck do you mean?what you want us to fight a tricycle be fucking for real you eurgh-fucking himbo.”

Leo’s fury dwindled down quickly as tiredness took over-he tried to repel a yawn from taking over mid sentence but the yawn won the fight disgruntling Leo even further. Xena looked as stony as ever as she deathglared at the ‘vehicles’ before her and Sho looked like he still had no idea what was going on, clearly not in a state of coherence yet.

There was a tricycle, a tandem bike and a scooter.

“They’ve just come in and won’t respond to the normal tests, we have to test on how they deal with having a rider and how compatible they are-they need the information immediately, I got the call from dante.”

All four of them wore deadpanned looks as they stared at the demonic bikes, Alan frowned at them in annoyance as he tried to think of what vehicle to use.

Leo sighed as he brushed a hand through his hair, he was about to chew the captain out even more when a flurry of black ran by him and literally threw themselves onto the tricycle. Xena as stoic as ever held her middle finger up at all of them as a murderous glint sparkled in her eyes. She did not do well in the morning…especially at 6am in the morning.

Alan frowned as he grasped bandanas arm leading him to the tandem bike, leaving Leo with the scooter.

He put his foot onto the scooter with a look of disgust.

“I’m not fucking doing th-“

His foot was stuck.

He literally couldn’t move and by the disgruntled look from Alan and Sho neither could they. He whipped his phone out as he took a picture of the two idiots looking laughably cute on the bike, he swung his phone back over Xena who looked absolutely ridiculous as she pulled the hood up of her hoodie and was sat with her knees up in the air as she awaited to start the race. Her stoic expression made it even more ridiculous as she stared off into the distance.

He then took an insane amount of selfies as he wanted proof of the stupidity that was his life at Darkwick. Maybe this was his punishment for looking into Dante and Alan.

“I guess we sta-“

Before Alan could finish Xena darted off looking even more ridiculous than before as her little legs went into overdrive as she forced her away back to vagastrom dorm. The wheels squeaked as the child sized tricycle sped off ahead of them.

She was tired and she’d be damned if she wasn’t going to be back in bed in the next twenty minutes. Leo and the tandem duo looked at eachother in wide eyed surprise as they watched her disappear around the corner, Alan was next to shoot off as Sho still sat there half asleep, he almost fell off as Alan went speeding away.

Leo sighed as he once again tried to take his foot off of the scooter, failing miserably and accepting his fate a

he started scooting back to the dorms.

Xena’s fury got her back to the dorm in ten minutes as she wordlessly got up from the tricycle seeming to have met the goals of the anomaly successfully.

She pushed her way into the dorms before collapsing on the sofa of the shared area. She groaned in exhaustion in the empty room as she heard the squeaky wheels of the tricycle follow behind her. She didn’t even bother to look up at the strange anomaly as she slowly fell back asleep.

Alan was next to arrive 5 minutes later with Sho holding on for dear life in the second seat. The tandem bike let them off but seemed almost hesitant in doing so, Alan dragged Sho into the dorms spotting xena crashed out on the sofa, the tricycle sat beside her seeming almost happy as it rings its bell to greet them.

He’ll have to write that down in the report, the tandem didn’t seem to have much of a personality seeming almost grumpy in spirit whereas the tricycle was brimming with a fire. He watched in amusement as Sho collapsed on top of Xena-snuggling into her as she made a croaky groan in response taking Sho’s hand in her own.

Alan enjoyed the peacefulness of the morning, the quiet sounds of Sho snoring echoed throughout the room. He went to grab himself a cold coffee but as he did he heard a loud clatter just outside the door.

“FUCK SAKE.”

Leo’s finally here.

Another loud bang and the whirlwind that is Leo came crashing through the doors. He frowned at Alan before sighing as he searched for his favourite duo, his eyes landed on their sleeping figures and Alan watched amused as Leo followed Sho’s lead and dumped himself on top of the other two.

Both groaned in response as xena finally turned around to make herself more comfortable. She snuggled into Sho who snuggled into her who had Leo snuggling into the both of them. It was a cute dog pile and Alan snapped a quick picture sending the awfully blurry picture to all three of them before going to fill out the paperwork.

Alan sighed as he sorted through the paperwork-It seems only the tricycle was worth bringing into the fold-the tandem and scooter can stay until they figure out something else.

When Xena and sho woke up Leo was already scrolling through his phone, he shoved his phone into their faces as they looked at his new post.

It was an assortment of pictures of Xena with her face mask on, the set up of the bath showing it covered in candles and the bathbomb-Sho cooking up the feast and the three of them eating-numerous selfies of the trio-Xena crashed out between them with Leo and Sho throwing up a peace sign in the selfie-lastly the blurry picture taken by Alan of the three of them crashed out on the sofa.

being constantly present by your side as you grew, he wanted to spend every free minute of his time with you, living for how your eyes would practically sparkle with amusement when your cool older bro would teach you to play cool games that only big kids know.

or whenever someone even as much as tried to pick up on you or make a joke about some aspect of your appearance, he would immediately jump in to protect you! not being afraid of getting a bloody nose and bruises after. because in his perspective, no matter how Independent and capable you claim to be, you still are just a kid, puffing up their chest after solving a tough problem on their quiz.

he used to be very physically affectionate, whether it be hugging you, picking you up, or patting you on the head or your back all the time. you were to expect a pat of approval after you clean your room, eat your breakfast, put out the laundry, and just whenever he felt like it, to be fair. sometimes it got really annoying with how no matter how old you grew he still treated you like a little child! you'd furrow your brows and pout your lips, dodging his hand whenever he reached out to you, and Alan would playfully chase you around the house, giggling. little did you know that you'll grow to miss those times.

since the whole pact-dante-darckwick thing happened, physical contact with him became nonexistent.

being convinced that he's a monster he distanced himself from you, all in the name of protecting you and your wellbeing from his own self. he feared that you might have grown to be disgusted by him, or even worse, be afraid of him – these thoughts would linger somewhere in the back of his head, like a bothersome fly that he can't just swat away.

... but before you know it, whenever there is a chance, you are already standing in front of the ice cream vending machine at the shimbashi station, ready to prove him wrong.

despite how much older you both grew, your relationship remained unchanged at all the main points. walking you through the dorm that he'd become the captain of, he once announced to you, pride swirling inside of him, like water lapping at the borders of the glass at your amazement, (sigh), just like when you were kids – he couldn't really keep up his gruff and cold facade around, being perfectly aware of how Leo won't miss the opportunity to tease him into oblivion about it later, he ranted about the most mundane things that have happened lately.

well, at least as much as Alan Mido can rant, being a man of very (emphasis) few words, he can sound pretty awkward. if you're willing to listen, he'd be happy to tell you all about the missions he went on, with one condition – only the lowest ranking ones and only in family friendly details. he doesn't want to rid his lovely little sibling of sleep with all the gore and filth that he has had to witness, duh! all is worth it for you to look at him with the same admiration as in the past... he might tear up just a bit at the thought. he gets nostalgic really often.

being a darckwick student has steeled his mind and hardened his heart, so he might not be as affectionate and frank, but he still likes spending time with you. whether it's you lounging on his bed with your phone while he gets ready for the day in the morning, sitting around in the garage while he's tinkering the guts of some car – you might not understand a single bit of what he's doing so you're just yapping about something the he half-listens to, or joining him for his evening jog, trailing somewhere beside him, trying to keep up – he appreciates your presence in his daily life. it's so peaceful like this, that he just might get back to his responsible older brother role and find himself (lovingly) nagging you about having three proper meals a day, going to bed on time, moving around more to stay healthy, etcetera etcetera.

even when he's not around to nag you in person, he would still show that he cares by shooting you a text saying only two words – "stay safe". he even learns how to use emojis! specifically to send a little smiley face after as a signoff... ˖⑅~๑‿｡ ⁠.̮⁠ ｡`

I honestly feel like Namikawa's relationship with the people around him is a pretty complicated topic. Namikawa has always striked me as this success-driven man who doesn't care much about most people. Especially when he sees those people as something below him - or just more foolish than him. If someone's lucky enough for Namikawa to consider them to be "on his level" (i feel like this is the case for Mido and Ooi), he will actually talk to said person and he actually might like them but if it's not the case, he just sees people as this expendable thing if they don't have anything to offer to him and doesn't even bother to try to form a genuine bond with them.

His dislike for "Useless subordinates", his complete indifference towards Hatori's (who's mostly seen as a joke by everyone and Namikawa too) death and towards the whole scheme of killing other bussinessmen just proves this further to me. He doesn't care for other people at all, staying completely calm during the meetings until his own is the one at risk. From what I remember, the only time we see Namikawa drop his ever-present poker face is when he gets the first call from L/Light and actually realises that he may be screwed.

Another two things that solidify these ideas to me are the way he behaved during Misa's party and his relationship with Shimura.

Namikawa has one of the highest "Social Skills" status out of the whole group but then he just stays in his own corner at Misa's party, not even talking to anyone. There could be a lot of reasons for him to have done so but the distance he keeps from everyone just kinda goes to show how uninterested he is in people who are not on his level.

The development of his relationship with Shimura is also a focus point on all of this. At first, we just kinda get the idea that Namikawa finds him foolish by the way he just mostly dismisses Shimura's concerns and what he says. But as the meetings go on, and Shimura ends up "proving himself" to Namikawa, even if not even on purpose, who realises Shimura is as clever as he is. The more time passes, the more Namikawa starts backing Shimura up in the meetings and honestly seems interested in what he has to say, especially during the secret trio meeting where most of his questions are addressed to Shimura. Its a big and noticeable change in attitude, going from just brushing him off to actually (partly) respect him after he was surprised by Shimura's true character.

To sum it up, Namikawa feels like the type of guy to kinda put himself up on a pedestal and feel like he is more than other people, also judging others too quickly. Maybe he could learn a thing or two if he actually started to give people more chances and decided to be empathetic for once JHSJSJS

all of the actors are called to a meeting with their managers, BYUN MIDO, HAN YOOHWA, KIM DONGSUN, SEO HEEJUNG, and YOO HYUNKI, who is the newest manager added to the team. not wanting to waste any time, the managers begin going through everything that will be happening in the new term.

DORMS

HEEJUNG begins to tells them the rules and information regarding housing, “in the past terms, we’ve allowed everyone who has joined legacy agency the option to stay in dorms or find their own place. however, due to the incident that happened a few months ago and how our bosses have been telling us to be ever so more watchful towards all of you, we’ve changed our rules. similar to last term, every person who joins the subsidiary will stay in the dorms for one term. if you have been under probation before, then that will last two terms — one for the term where you were under probation and another to follow every new person that joins us.”

“for the ones that have gone through one term in this path without any warnings, punishments, or scandals during that time, they will be given the option to live offsite. those of you confirmed to stay will be able to move into your new dorms starting from today. otherwise, for those of you who have chosen to stay in your own place, you will need to pack up and leave your current dorms starting from today as well. and just like AECHA has said in the past, just because you aren’t under our watch 24/7 anymore does not mean that you can go crazy. if we hear of any inappropriate behavior, you will be immediately brought back to the dorms.” DONGSUN looks at each one of the actors, making sure that they know and are aware of the new dorm changes.

THE HIDDEN ENEMY MUSICAL UPDATE

on FEBRUARY 27, MINKYU and AERI will be traveling to japan to do 3 showings of the musical ( 2 showings on saturday, march 1 and 1 showing on sunday, march 2 ). as a reward for diligently working on their japanese in Q1 and the musical’s success, they will be staying one extra day ( monday, march 3 ) after the showings, which means they can spend that day doing whatever they want as long as one of the managers is present with them.

ooc, they will be receiving extra points ( listed in the points form ) that can be redeemed once they have finished the acting mission requirements.

COMMERCIAL TRAINING

“some of the actors will be busy with their projects and schedules, so they will be spending most of their time on that. but for our two new actors who have just joined us, you will be participating in CF TRAINING along with the two new models during that time since there is a contest that i’m about to tell you later that might interest many of you. one may consider it to be boring to be attending the commercial training, but actually this won’t be held in the legacy building. in fact, it’ll be held in DAEJEON and take up three weekends.” DONGSUN explained to them while letting HYUNKI and YOOHWA give SEYEON and SANGWON the files regarding the training.

as mentioned, the training will be held for three weekends ( FEBRUARY 8 & 9, MARCH 8 & 9, and MARCH 29 & 30 ). each of the weekends will revolve around these categories; COMMERCIAL MODELING ( eg., posing techniques, facial expressions and emotion control, branding and marketing yourself, runway and movement training ), COMMERCIAL ACTING ( eg., voice projection & articulation, improvisation, on-camera techniques, storytelling in a short timeframe ), and VLOGGING ( eg., technical setup and self-taping basics, brand and relatability, product demonstration and interaction ).

for each weekend, they will be staying in a rented house nearby with one of the lgc agency managers and head back home by sunday night. while they will have some free time to explore DAEJEON on saturdays, they must be accompanied by either the lgc agency manager OR one of the manager’s assistants. the training itself consists of 15 students maximum ( including SEYEON, SANGWON, KIYONG, and YUTAI ) and there will be three coaches ( each one teaching a category mentioned earlier ).

SAMSUNG CONTEST

HEEJUNG explained to the actors the next opportunity in their schedules, “samsung is interested in offering a yearlong modeling contract for a few LGC AGENCY artists. however, the company felt that since there are so many artists it would be best to hold a cf vlog contest amongst all of you. you have from MARCH 17-APRIL 1 to send in your submissions via e-mail. for our newer actors, you could do it during the last weekend of your training in DAEJEON, if you wish. as for the others, we would like to strongly advise you to not film any vlog content during your time preparing for PROJECTS AKA and SD. we’ll send you all of the important rules and restrictions related to this contest. my advice for all of you is to start brainstorming ideas and to make it as creative as possible.”

around the first week of MARCH, each LGC AGENCY artist will be given the choice of promoting only ONE of the GALAXY products ( galaxy s24, galaxy z fold, galaxy watch ultra, galaxy tab s10 ultra, OR galaxy buds ) and incorporating it in a 5 minute vlog ( the chosen product must be shown in at least 80% of that 5 minute vlog ). the product selected will be a prototype and it’s up to the muse how they would like to film the video, since they will be almost everything by themselves ( filming, conceptualizing, etc. ) they will not be doing the major editing ( because a lgc editor will take care of that ) but they can send in notes as to how they would like the edits to look like. during this time, there will be some staffs recording the behind the scenes content of the process.

A perspective on fandom reaction to MHA ending (Part 1/?)

I think it's funny that this is my first post on tumblr, but at this point I have a lot of thoughts that I need to get out of my head. (mha spoilers, obviously)

There's been a wide variety of reactions to the recent epilogue chapter of mha (some positive some negative), but what I want to focus on in this post is the relationship between Midoriya and Bakugo and how the fandom views it online.

First, I want to preface this by saying that at the end of the day, you can ship/headcanon anything you want. No one can tell you what to think or write about, you do you. With that in mind, a common sentiment I've seen online is that the story should have ended with Midoriya and Bakugo getting together romantically. Even outside of that, many believe that the ending was (to a degree) character assassination for the two of them (Mido in particular). With how vocal the community has been (though it might also just be a vocal minority), I recently decided to read through the entire manga, start to finish, as well as the School Briefs light novels to see what supports this conclusion with fresh eyes. Here are some of my thoughts and answers to certain takes on this relationship.

1: "Midoriya rejecting Bakugo's offer to join his agency is OOC, they've been wanting to do it since they were kids!"

This one is pretty easy to address, so I'm doing it first. They do mention wanting to work together in an agency, true: when they're four, before they've gotten their quirks (or lack thereof). Besides that flashback, there is never a single moment where they mention wanting to work together in this way, even after they've made up (and by made up, I mean Bakugo stopped taking out his inferiority complex on Mido, and Mido stopped just taking his shit. They still don't exactly hang out and do things together, even by the manga's end). The closest we get is Bakugo saying he wanted to compete for the rest of their lives (while an admittedly touching scene and showcase of his development, not inherently saying they need to work together), and a translation of Bakugo vs AFO where he calls himself "Kacchan of the Bakugo's!" (later translations I read just had it as "That's Kacchan Bakugo to you" or something like that). The last one isn't even related, aside from an acceptance of his childhood nickname. Them working at an agency together was a childhood dream destroyed by the inherent inequality between the two and their feelings (mostly Bakugo's) on this. Even if they're both better now, it doesn't mean the bad blood just vanishes, and even then, priorities change. Midoriya's not the same bright eyed kid who thought he and Kacchan would take on the world together forever, he's a grown person with new thoughts and a sense of responsibility towards the next generation.

"But if that's the case, then why did Bakugo offer?" There's a pretty simple answer to this. Consider: He wasn't sure what Mido planned on doing now that he was back in the game; did he wanna go full time, or stick to teaching? By this point, he's feeling remorse for the crap he did pre UA, so he wants to support him to make up for it. So, he asks about Mido's plans. If he wanted to go pro again, he'd let him join his agency to get his feet back on the ground. If he didn't want to stop teaching, he'd let it go. Mido chose to stay a teacher, so he accepts it and moves on without mentioning it (Kirishima is the one who brings it up). And that's fine. Midoriya not joining his agency doesn't automatically invalidate the growth of their relationship; they can still be friendly, and they are! Midoriya even invites Bakugo to come help teach, so it's clear he wants him in his life still. Again, these are personal thoughts, maybe I saw things differently than others, so take from this scene what you will.

2. "He spent 8 years trying to revive Mido's dream, how could he just be rejected!"

Similar in nature to the above, this is a big argument for why they should have gotten together. To this, I have a simple counterargument: No one is entitled to be loved, no matter the grand gesture. If that doesn't work, then here's another: He did do that, after having spent a literal decade being a horrible person for a shitty reason, destroying Mido's self-esteem and dreams. At best, the suit makes them even, a net neutral.

On a related note, there's a certain idea going around that Bakugo was such a huge contributor to the suit that he practically single-handedly funded it (hopefully a vocal minority, but then again the internet isn't renowned for its intelligence). All I have to say on that is, with how famous (and likely wealthy) the other members of the class are, by the time he got enough money to fund it to that degree, the rest would have done it several times over (his income can't be that much higher than 18 other high ranking pros combined, plus however much Mei, Melissa, and All Might added themselves). It's an interesting idea for fanfiction, but for the main story? Eh.

3. "They had so much more development and chemistry, why didn't they get together?!"

This is technically true, especially in regards to other relationships in the series (notably Izuocha, which admittedly could have been a lot better). This is actually a particular favorite argument of mine, because there's a great in-series quote for it: the final exams arc, where All Might says something along the lines of "Someone who starts at level 1 will grow a lot faster than someone who's level 50". Yes, Mido and Bakugo do have a lot of development. Because their relationship is absolute dogshit at the start of the series, and it tries to end at somewhat friendly at minimum. That takes a lot of big moments and conflict to get through smoothly, so it's natural these two have so much more than anyone else. By comparison, most other relationships Mido has (except Todoroki, which also begins somewhat antagonistic and as such has more development than most) are much healthier and usually friendly. We don't exactly need a 3 chapter section on Mido and Uraraka working through their issues with each other because, from the start, they're friendly and supportive of each other. They don't have any particular problems with each other, so not much happens (though I do think there needed to be more between them).

As for chemistry, that's also technically true. But chemistry, much like relationship development, isn't inherently romantic. There's a lot of moments where their dynamic is interesting and well written, and that lends itself well to shipping. But, and I speak having the entire manga fresh in my mind, there are zero moments where I saw romance even subtextually between the two of them. Neither ever mention physical or emotional attraction, blush around the other/while thinking about them, or even express interest in doing anything besides heroics together. Bakugo regularly insults Mido for his general personality and Mido (surprisingly enough) regularly snarks at and insults Bakugo's personality back. They're never shown doing anything like small talk in the dorms or classes, or just hanging out. They barely have friendly chemistry, let alone romantic. Maybe I'm blind when it comes to this, but I also didn't see much romance in other relationships either, so who knows?

4. "Bakugo literally died for Midoriya, how is that not romantic"

This argument is the one I like least, because its a great example of a thing I personally hate: taking great moments that showcase character growth or relationships and making them about love. This doesn't just apply to bkdk, other relationships have the same issue, but for now we're talking Bakugo. So here's my interpretation of his death scene: a bit before it, Shig4One beats the shit out of him and effectively tells him that "compared to OFA, you're just a bit extra who'll never measure up". For Bakugo, who has the defining character trait of constantly trying to be the best, this is something he can't let stand. Even when the others are telling him to retreat, he keeps pushing himself forward in pursuit of his goal, and at that moment, the image he has of strength is Izuku (just like Izuku's image of victory is him). He starts doing the same things he knows Izuku does (mumbling, a self destructive method of fighting) and realizes first hand just how hard Izuku worked to get where he is. Recognizing this, he wonders if he can pull ahead again before he takes the fatal blow.

This is a great scene, showing how Bakugo has grown to respect Mido for his talents and hard work, and trying to emulate him the same way Mido emulated Bakugo. It's a "bit extra" trying to surpass the legends of his world with all he's got, even if it kills him. Because he's Bakugo Katsuki, the man who'll be number 1 no matter what, who'll never give up. Making this scene about him being in love with Midoriya cheapens Bakugo's greater character arc (his acceptance of help from others and learning to respect his peers while handling his relationships in a non-abusive way), and is part of a general issue bkdk has:

5. Everything Bakugo does has to be about Midoriya

Bakugo can't just die reaching for his dream, he has to die for Midoriya's sake. Bakugo can't just want to make up for his lack of support in the past, it has to be a confession of love. Bakugo can't just respect Midoriya and want to work with him again, it has to be deep love. Bakugo can't just be friendly with Midoriya, they have to be life partners forever in everything. For better or worse, these two are treated as a package deal. A lot of this also applies to Midoriya too; for example, Midoriya can't just be pissed that someone he is somewhat close to is dead/grievously injured, it has to be because it's Bakugo and he's in love with him! I honestly believe that both the Jaku "Get down Mr. President!" moment and the death on the sky coffin moments would play out the exact same for Midoriya if say, Iida was the one who got hurt there instead. Bro cares a lot, feels a lot, and gets real angry.

6. Final thoughts

I wanna end this off with a general personal opinion on the ship and what I think when I read or see fics about it. Again, ship/headcanon as you please, I can't dictate what's "right" for you to like. With that in mind, I dislike bkdk for a lot of reasons, but here are two of them:

Reason 1: Because at its core, it's a ship about putting an abuser together with their victim because the abuser "got better". This doesn't inherently make it unshippable to me, but it makes it a hard sell. It's also a solid reason for why they don't have much of a romantic relationship in the main story: Why would they fall for each other after all that?

Reason 2: Most fanfics don't sell "Bakugo" dating Midoriya, they sell something called Bakugo doing it. A lot of the time, he's wildly different compared to how he is in the main series (gentle, a real softy, kinda tsundere but otherwise nice). Again, nothing wrong with this, but most of the time he's just like this without any reason given for the differences. If you need to change a character this much to make a ship work, I don't think it's that good a ship (Related, I actually think Kiribaku is great because of this: you don't need to make Bakugo not an asshole to make it work). Of course, there are exceptions, and even without them, there's nothing wrong with writing what you like or want. This is just my personal opinion on the ship and why I can't get into it.

Thank you for reading my mammoth of a post. This took like 3 hours to make and you can really tell by how the quality dropped in the end (or maybe that's just me). Once again, I'd like to reiterate that no one can tell you what to ship or headcanon, these are just my own thoughts and interpretations on the whole shebang. Feel free to come up with your own ideas and do your own thing. I might do other posts on other things I have strong opinions on later, though.

his clenched a little when he watched you comfortably lean into your childhood friend to show him something on your phone. (he is sad because eitherway, he can't feel the same)

oh but that doesn't stop him though, now he calls you over to help him out in the bar or he will deploy lyca like a pokemon to cause a scene infront of you and your childhood friend (another dramatic ass)

thinks your childhood friend is stupid and you should stay away from him. doesn't understand why you have to reject him (lyca) because you already made lunch plans with your childhood friend.

Assigning the Yotsuba Group D&D Races

Did anyone ask for this? No. Do I care? No. I'm a massive nerd and will post what I want when I want.

DISCLAIMER:

This is based on the vibes with a slight tinge of sensible claims. Some of these may seem weird and OOC and that's because they probably are. I'm no scientist, guys.

Kyosuke Higuchi

Starting off strong with my favourite idiot, it was ultimately extremely tempting to say "dwarf" and call it a day (since he isn't known for being particularly unchallenged vertically speaking). I figured, realistically, Higuchi would probably fall into orc territory. Eventually though, I landed on half-orc for a multitude of reasons:

Higuchi is incredibly impatient and hot-headed but I don't feel he has the directly violent edge that your run of the mill orc would have on top of these traits. (Of course, he is still a murderer),

Higuchi isn't well-liked by his coworkers much like a half-orc is considered an outsider in the Forgotten Realms, however he does not give off the impression that he's very high up the Yotsuba corporate ladder in comparison to his coworkers and therefore does not have the power to properly intimidate anyone the way a regular orc would (this lack of power obviously changes after the Death Note gets involved),

Higuchi isn't very sure of himself and is prone to feelings of sadness and insecurity, much like a half-orc,

Male half-orcs can be anything from 5'0-7'0 depending on player preference, so Higuchi can still be fun-sized in a fantastical setting!

No offence to him but he REALLY has the face for it.

I mean, just look at that smile. Isn't it a million bucks?

Reiji Namikawa

I fear I'm going to have to go with the obvious choice for this one. Namikawa's an elf. More specifically, a grey elf from the Greyhawk D&D setting. Why, you ask?

Grey elves are known for being isolationist, which is very fitting for someone like Namikawa who is frequently isolationist on a personal level,

Grey elves believe themselves to be superior to other D&D races, even other elves, mimicking Namikawa's borderline pretentious and "better than you" attitude,

Grey elves' superiority complexes are implicit - someone like Namikawa would never make it known that he feels he is better than everyone else (although you can smell it off him),

Grey elves can be incredibly morally grey (badum-tss) at times and aren't above using questionable means to keep their location hidden, similar to how Namikawa is not above getting involved in the Kira meetings to advance the Yotsuba group,

Much like other elves, grey elves are known for their fair and ethereal appearance. (They also have the signature long hair so bonus points for that),

As a sub-race of the high elves, grey elves are incredibly intelligent and yearn for knowledge, often owning extensive libraries that they share with other elves,

This isn't specific to grey elves and is a bonus for choosing to play as an elf generally, but elves are proficient in one extra language of the player's choice (other than Elvish). As Namikawa lived in the USA for 6 years, it's unlikely that he doesn't know how to speak English.

Shingo Mido

Another isolationist type. Let's be real though, elf doesn't really cut it for Mido, which is exactly why I settled on lizardfolk from the Forgotten Realms setting. This seems like quite a left-field choice but the reasoning behind it is pretty simple.

Lizardfolk could not be less interested in material gain. Mido gives the impression that he's fairly disillusioned to such things, especially since he disdainfully remarked that Higuchi was most obsessed with wealth and status. In other words, he clearly sees it as a foreign concept,

Lizardfolk do not tend to invest themselves in anything unless it serves a practical use for them (or, in the case of the meetings, there is no choice element involved). Mido seems like the type of person who wouldn't want to waste their time on something if there was no benefit to doing it,

Lizardfolk tend to be neutrally aligned. This I think is particularly fitting as while Mido secretly disliked the Yotsuba Kira's actions, he did not go against them and remained passive to the whole ordeal until Shimura privately voiced his concerns,

Assimilation into any society that isn't the lizardfolk's own is a big no, point blank. Mido probably checks out of interacting with other people on the daily and would rather shoot himself in the foot than actually be perceived, so this is another fitting trait they both share.

This one's slightly in jest but lizardfolk have tails that greatly assist them in balance - and if you're unbalanced while fencing then you might find yourself in a bit of a predicament.

Takeshi Ooi

I think this one is mostly fuelled by the fact that he's bald and built like a brick wall but if I were to assign Ooi any D&D race, he would have to be a goliath. There isn't actually much reasoning behind this one, to be honest.

Again, six foot something bald man with a huge amount of physical strength. Not much needs to be said here,

Goliaths can sometimes offend people not familiar with their behaviour, which definitely reminds me of Ooi's blunt/direct nature,

Goliaths are determined creatures who really care about accomplishing lots in so little time. Ooi also gives me this impression, especially since he was so aware that those who partook in the meetings were potentially in line for the position of CEO at Yotsuba.

Arayoshi Hatori

This one is also pretty literal and instead mostly to do with his hobbies than his overall appearance, but I would assign Hatori Wechselkind from the Grim Hollow setting for a D&D race. There are reasons beyond this though.

Wechselkinds are made of wood, clay and ceramics (and Hatori makes ceramics),

A wechselkind is a humanoid construct intended to resemble that of a small child, and is animated by faerie magic. They are used to replace human children that have been kidnapped by faeries and as a result, they are concealed using magic and made to seem identical to the child. This concealment eventually wears off and when it does, the wechselkind is usually ostracised and seen as an illegitimate member of the family. This, in my view, closely resembles Hatori's presumably rocky relationship with his father (Yotsuba's president) and how he is known to be his illegitimate son,

Wechselkinds can sometimes be more closely aligned with evil but tend to stray towards being good. I think we can all agree that Hatori is one of the better members of the Yotsuba group, since he vocally expressed his contempt for the meetings,

Wechselkinds tend to search for acceptance where there isn't any and I think that's pretty similar to Hatori's behaviour, as he seems to want nothing more than to blend in with the rest of his coworkers.

Eiichi Takahashi

Takahashi, like Hatori, is another one of the less morally bankrupt members of the Yotsuba group in my eyes, as is Shimura. I figured I'd assign him a race that's more aligned with good because of this and so decided on the Firbolg from Forgotten Realms.

Firbolgs on the Faerûn continent are, again, usually aligned with good,

Firbolgs are known to be extremely family-orientated, and I imagine that Takahashi is also a family man (especially towards his kids) since he's married and has children,

Firbolgs care deeply about the natural world and my personal head-canon is that since Takahashi surfs in his spare time, he works closely with ocean conservation organisations in Tokyo,

Firbolgs are looked down on among their giant kin, similar to the way Takahashi's coworkers do to him. (I'm looking at you, Higuchi).

Masahiko Kida

Okay, admittedly I found Kida hard to type at first. There's barely anything to go off of in canon and a lot of my thoughts on Kida literally stem from head-canons. However. Scrolling through a list of D&D races, I then landed on Shadar-kai. Shadar-kai as in the elven kind that worship the Raven Queen, not the fey kind. (Yes, you probably hear about elves and fey sharing ancestry but I'm specifically talking about Forgotten Realms lore here). Regardless of this less than slight tangent, my reasons for choosing this race aren't that serious honestly.

The elven Shadar-kai are completely neutral. Like, no "I'll just do this good/bad thing". They are 100% checked out of any morality debate. I got this impression from the little we see of Kida in canon because honestly, he just looks like he wants to go home. Fair enough, Kida,

These specific Shadar-kai are completely joyless. Since Kida is an uptight bastard through and through, naturally I got this vibe from him. (I mean seriously, does he look like the kind of guy actually having fun? No he does not),

Shadar-kai will still often follow rules and comply with some pretty nasty missions as a result. This is obviously similar to Kida's compliance with the meetings.

Suguru Shimura

It probably seems weird seeing Shimura last on this list since he's a semi-relevant character in the Yotsuba sphere, but this is honestly because he was the hardest for me to assign a race to. No D&D race seems to capture the essence of what makes Shimura enough. I decided eventually, though, why not make Shimura a Tortle? Yeah, you heard that right. Yes, there are turtle people in Dungeons and Dragons and hell yes Shimura is one of them. Why?

Because Tortles, like other races outlined in this completely useless post, are actually pretty reclusive. I'd be lying if I said that Shimura was a beacon of extroversion,

Tortles tend to be peaceful and get on well with other races, but are particularly friendly towards peaceful Lizardfolk. (Ding ding! This is where the closeness with Mido comes in),

Tortles like to form strong friendships despite their reserved nature. I always got this impression from Shimura but, in all honesty, I couldn't point to anything in canon that shows this without having to milk very specific details dry.

That about wraps up probably the least requested post in Yotsuba history. Least requested because, y'know, nobody fucking asked for this. If you got to the end by actually reading the whole thing instead of scrolling downwards, I applaud you. 👏 (See?)

Anyway, goodbye now. I'm going to go cook up another abhorrent post that nobody asked for.
