I am very sorry you had such experiences. :( I am actually very anxious whenever I post as I fear I might get yelled at. Actually, posting this very post makes me anxious because I know talking about this subject can be very difficult. I actually rewrote his post like three times already😭

For now thankfully, everyone commenting on this blog has been very nice and kind :)

If it helps here is how I treat age gaps, maybe it can help you solve some of your issues with your public ?

I try my best to have the age gaps as small as possible, I only allow larger age gaps if the cats both meet as full grown adults (which is the case for Silversight and Spectralstar ! I actually have a little backstory post for the founders in preparation !)

I usually let the game do its own thing when it comes to couples, I mainly use my mediators to strenghten family bonds (mainly with adopted kits, because the game doesn't automatically strenghten these relationships)

If the cats are both colony-born, I will break the couple up if the age gap is equal or superior to 6 moons and the younger party is less than 30 moons old. Otherwise it makes me feel uncomfortable

I can make an exception for colony-born cats, as an example if the two cats only start being attracted to each other when the oldest is 90 moons old, and the youngest is 80 moons old ? It feels less weird to me, like they had time to experiment around with their feelings and everything before settling together you know ?

For a colony-born cat and an outsider, I can allow larger age gaps as long as the outsider joined when the colony-cat was already a full grown adult. I usually allow the game to make them an official couple when the younger party is at least 30 moons old. This means that Valleyfall x Oddspots is forbidden !!! It's just a one-sided crush on Oddspots side !

Generally I will ignore a lot of the romantic feelings the cats have for each others in-game if it makes me uncomfortable lol. You don't have to make everything that happens in-game canon in your comic if it makes you feel queasy !

These are just personal rules I give myself, otherwise I feel uncomfortable when playing and drawing my cats !

(The following part is just me rambling about canon Warrior Cats issues and how it influences Clangen and therefore most playthroughs of the game)

I think the age gap issue is due to the general canon Warrior Cats Clan setting, because if you do follow the classic Warrior Code™, you aren't allowed to take in domestic cats and loners; which means you can't add new blood, but it also means that all your cats know each other since birth. :((

In the canon books, it leads to weird ahh relationships like Thornclaw and Blossomfall, Onestar and Whitetail, Ashfur x Squirrelflight or even Brambleclaw x Squirrelflight (we often forget that both Ash and Bramble were warriors when Squirrel was born lol)

The one way the canon books found to remedy to this issue was to add a lot of useless background characters, so that they could reproduce more and regularly, giving a steady flow of new kittens of similar ages to ship with the main characters. This isn't really a good solution in the long run, seeing how incredibly big ThunderClan has become, but it's also not solving the big "everyone is related to each other" issue. :(((

That's why I decided to create the Colony instead of a Clan, so that I can change the rules, so I can integrate outsiders and domestic cats with no issue, introducing both new blood and characters who don't know everyone since they were born :)

Something overlooked about canon is that Breezepaw begged Crowfeather to let him say goodbye "to his friends" and was shot down

So I have interpreted this to mean that Breeze is actually a total ride or die little fella for his buddies

That was the reason why so many WindClan cats were in the Dark Forest. He was the RINGLEADER

By the way-- I am writing Breezepelt with BPD in mind. Him, Cinderheart, and Squirrelflight. He often sorts people into broad, unhealthy categories-- BAD or GOOD

But anyway I could talk about BB!Breezy-P all day

Bottom line is, these three were TIGHT. They're the three warrior apprentices of Lake WindClan in Po3 and were always getting in trouble together

Heatherpaw got them into digging holes. Normal stupid teenager shit "let's make the deepest hole ever"

Harepaw got buried OOPS. Get tunnel'd idiot

Brushblaze was nearby enough to hear someone scream and helped pull Hare out

After three sets of teary eyes BEGGED him to not tell Onestar, he made them promise to come get him when they were digging deep enough that they couldn't dig back up.

He's an ex-solver from BloodClan and can help them make sure they don't make an unstable hole

Bottom line is, the three of them go back a very long time, but I don't imagine it was even romantic back then. It was Heather And The Boys.

The Dark Forest drove a wedge between Heather and the boys, as she quickly realized that they may not have started with bad intentions, but cats like Mudclaw, Tigerstar, and Hawkfrost were BAD news and they were going to drag them all down too.

It wasn't worth it. Training with a REAL tunneler was the bait to lure her in like Tunnelbun crumbs for a hunted bird.

The wedge between Heather and the Boys became a wedge between the Boys when they all got their Dishonor Titles. Harespring --Darkseeker-- was working to atone. This meant disavowing his training, focusing on how he could help people, and seeking the things he could learn in his own Clan.

Breezepelt --Dodderheart--, took that badly. How dare Darkseeker start pretending like there was something to disavow! Onestar sucks! Crowfeather sucks! StarClan sucks! He'll do whatever it takes to get power and change things around here, get the respect he wants, but Breezepelt didn't learn his lesson at all

Darkseeker lost his Dishonor Title first, back to Harespring. Rottenheart decided he wasn't his friend anymore, just like Heathertail.

Dodderheart: "Everyone hates me except Furzepelt and Sunstrike! I'll bet they're all sitting around plotting against me right now!!"

Harespring: "aw this tunnelbun has a grumpy face like breezepelt lol"

Heather: "lol"

And so, as soon as he learned The Kin was looking for any cats who felt like the Clans had wronged them, misfits and rejects, he brought himself and his two supporters there. BIG mistake.

Mistake he spends the rest of his life regretting

Heather rightfully calls him on this when she ends up joining the Kin to learn more about her brother Darktail. "This is all garbage you put in your head! Crowfeather is a dick, and so is my dad, but you shoved me, and Hare, and even your stupid half siblings or whatever into some ridiculous narrative about how evil and hated you are! We LOVE you, can't you see that?!"

"YOU'RE the one who's blind! I killed Firestar, I tried to kill them, and only now with Darktail am I finally-"

"Being used AGAIN. He's using you. Just like Tigerstar when he wanted to get rid of Firestar."

In the big breakout, Harespring is there to secure a tunnel for them all to escape with

I think it makes a good idea that it was a backup plan Heather had all along, and Hare was entrusted with making sure it was done by this day. Just in case Darktail turned out to be the lunatic they expected him to be

Brushblaze is going to go out here, too, collapsing the tunnel so they can't be followed. It's a really good end for him.

When Breezepelt comes back to WindClan, it is on their grace. Hare and Heather are both vouching on their honor that they will he responsible for his actions.

I imagine Harespring looked Onestar in the eyes when he did this. FULLY expecting to have to defend himself for working on a secret tunnel, losing Brushblaze, possibly losing his deputyship for LITERALLY undermining

But... Heathertail was saved. Breezepelt looks bedraggled and humbled, unlike what happened just about a year ago. Brushblaze made the ultimate sacrifice. Now is not the time to discuss this.

AVOS is just about to hit its climax; where Onestar steals Breezepelt's plan to drown killing Darktail.

But anyway, enough of the plot of Better Bones AVOS. Fluffy trivia time

Harestar eats his tunnelbuns like a beast. He bites clean through them, Heather and Breeze are always screaming about this

Harespring's personality is very mild, level headed, and thoughtful. He moves slowly when he's not in a hurry.

He can be pushed around under stress though. He doesn't like being under pressure for that reason, and tries to minimize situations where he's put on the spot.

In Clanmew his name is "Hare Will-Jump Up", it's a hare that thinks before it leaps.

Breezepelt appreciates how Harespring will reword things for him, when they work on communication together.

If Hare worded something in a way that set Breeze off, Breeze can just ask what he meant and Hare will say it a different way

When Harespring becomes Harestar, I like to think there are cats in the Clan who feel like Breeze is only here because of his wife and husband. And maybe he is, what're you gonna do about it? Cry?

Heather has an honest, curious personality. She likes to be respected for her intelligence and insight, being a smart person is something she values about herself.

She is not easily tricked and can be cutting if she smells bullshit. She will be rude if she thinks you're lying to her.

I don't see her as "nurturing" like others think, she's a militant carer and outgoing about what she believes to be the right thing

He doesn't hold a high rank in WindClan because he spent the majority of his life Being Breezepelt, and is accepting that he probably never will

And that's okay because he's currently the loyal Kitchen Head of MeadowClan and the kits have just gotten back from the harrowing death of Honeysucklestar but it's lunchtime

Honestly, the double standard for WC characters is so weird (and misogynistic of course). Nobody thinks it's weird ships like SquirrelCr0w <- (so it doesn't go into the tag) is weird, when most depictions overlook Crowfeather's abusive behavior or even ignore what he did to Breezpelt entirely? His neglect of Breezepelt is treated as afterthought if ever acknowledged at all. His treatement of Leafpool or Nightcloud? Nah, who cares about that! His red flags in his relationships after Feathertail aren't even there. Crowfeather would be a great father to Squirrelflight's kits and mate, unlike stinky Bramblestar (who he acts near identical to anyways, and the only difference is he doesn't have an unhealthy power dynamic as her leader or deputy to use against her). Heck, from what I've seen it's usually Feathertail encouraging him to be sooo niceys too, so it's not like HE does introspection (ofc I'm sure that's not always the case but still worth bringing up), so it's not even a matter of him growing as a person. Meanwhile, if you decided to ship Palebird with anyone people would start freaking out. Fire is with both Sand and Raven while they are just friends.

Raven went to twolegplace instead of the barn (he’s with Princess)

It’s mostly canon complicit but with Fire falling in love with Ravenpaw alongside Sandstorm although a little quicker.

Firestar names Raven Ravenflight.

Fire calls Raven his little birdie and makes flower crowns for him and Sandstorm.

Raven is just nervous dad with Squirrelkit and Leafkit “pls come get them Sand”

Firestar lives up to his name and is the middle spoon. No debate since neither Raven or Sand radiate heat that well. However, when Ravenflight gets nightmares about Tigerstar, he’s immediately put in the middle.

Firestar names Squirrelpaw Squirrelflight and Ravenflight is just in tears while Squif calms him down.

All three of them go on night hunts. Just time away from the clan and responsibilities.

Okay I love FireRaven a lot but add Sand in there? Even better. All their designs I just made up on the spot lol (well Raven I have a concept for but not a finished ref).

Let me get the ID out then I’ll put all my au thoughts on how’d this work under a cut bc I have A LOT of ideas.

(ID- Sandstorm is a long pale brown cat with golden brown down her back, ears, under her eye in a tear like stripe, and on her paws in stripes. She has darker brown on her tail, stripes across her back, hair tuft, paws, and under her eye. Cream is on the back of her legs, belly and muzzle. She is laying across the top around Firestar and Ravenflight. Firestar is on the left and is a fluffy round orange cat with red on his back end, ears, ear tufts, face in stripes and freckles, and paws. Darker orange is on his tail end, hair floof, and nose. Yellow on his belly, ear tips, inner ear fur, chin, and paws. He is laying against Raven, holding him with a smile and his tail wrapping around them. Ravenflight is on the right and is small, curling into Firestar with a small tear in their eye and tail end curling around his back. They are dark gray, purple tinted, with light lavender across the right side of their face in a wing like marking, back of his front leg, paw, on their back in a wing like marking, and in a smaller wing marking under their left eye. A darker black is on his back end, under their right eye in a matching wing pattern and ears. They have large round ears. The faint signature “Nightly Ruse” is in the top right. End ID)

Okay onto the au of how this would work. Instead of Raven running to the twoleg place (tho I think that’s cute esp if he’s who raises Cloud as a parting thing for them as he goes back to the clans) he still goes to the barn. There they are taken in by Barley who helps them discover themselves, help deal with his anxiety, work through his trauma, and discover themselves. This is where they find that they are not only non-binary using he/they but gay and ace. Both him and Barley go back to TC just before the battle where they fight. I like the idea of Raven actually helping a lot of cats from other clans bc he’s gotten out of the clans mindset of hate against everyone else.

When the battle is happening their who sees Firestar crumple to Scourge and they launch out to defend his body, hoping Fire didn’t get the same fate as Tigerstar. I kinda like the idea of instead of Scourge being some half brother of Firestar he’s instead Raven’s brother? Like as a young kit Raven got lost and was found by a kinder cat, taken in by TC but when Tiny tried to find its brother they were instead attacked by Tigerclaw (I’d push back the timeline a bit so Tiger is now a warrior when this happens and instead Blue sees Thistleclaw inside the warriors since Thistle might’ve just died around this time.)

Scourge cracks slightly as it sees their sibling again. Like a reflection of themselves. And Raven stares forward confused as he feels the slightest connection to the blood stained cat before them. “Tiny?” They whisper in a voice barley hearable over the screeches around them. Scourge feels a chill run down it’s body as they remember the whole it felt after their sibling was gone, then to be attacked when it went to find them. Both just stare at each other as they try to process what to do, they can’t attack the other, and so much is happening. Firestar then would pull himself from the floor as his wound seals back together, a new passion in his eyes to defeat the opponent. Just to stop. He’s looking between his best friend and the cat who just murdered him and he can barley tell the difference from just their coats.

I think the battle would end and instead of Fire defeating Scourge they’d call peace. I always loved Bloodclan/Skyclan au’s so I think maybe Bloodclan would either merge with them or take their spot. (Also the idea of Scourge and Squilf resembling each other while Leafstar and Leafpool resemble eachother could be interesting. Like mirrors of the new way as Skyclan comes back. Idk haven’t thought that far)

As the clans are reforming and recovering Firestar, Ravenflight, Sandstorm, and Scourge are sent on a quest to find the missing group of cats. They find the remains of Skyclan though they’d be a actual clan who’s adapted over time to live in their environment, daylight warriors still apart of them. The leader there is cruel though, slowly pushing Skyclan to its breaking point. The group saves them and Scourge would take out the leaders last life, dying there as well at the top of the gorge bathed in the sun’s fiery first light. Leafstar takes up the mantle of Skyclan’s leader and decides they just honor the new time that is before them and rejoin the clans. Fire has his kits at the gorge before they leave and names them Squirrelkit and Leafkit, noticing the markings on his fluffy kit. Her fur as red as the rock and sunrise where she was born but with a paw white like lightning, a paw he knew would bring a new time just as the cat before her had.

This would make it so during PO3 Skyclan would be there. I think Fire, Raven and Sand left before Skyclan did so that Skyclan would be found during TNP by the traveling crew. They’d come over the crest of the rolling hills as the sky turns scarlet when the sun sets, as if the sun marked each great event in their journey.

Onto the actual SandFireRaven relationship tho they are t4t4t as they are all trans, Sand using she/her, Fire using he/him, and Raven using he/they. Sand is demiromantic and bi, Fire is bi poly, and Raven is gay ace. I love Raven and Sand loving Fire and then just being super close friends with one another.

Actually I always liked the idea of Sand and Raven being friends before Fire joined. But as both each other’s situations worsened, and Raven fled they grew apart. When he came back they apologized to each other and become close again. Both are early wakers and always go on Dawn patrol together, Fire is a heavy sleeper and only wakes up when he has to. Sand and Raven conspired together to both ask out Fire and he accepted both!

Ravenflight definitely became a sappy mess when Squirrel was named Squirrelflight. They just started sobbing out of a overload of happiness and shock. The whole family cuddling them as he hugged their daughters. Having learned from Barley I think Raven also helped Sand through a lot of her mental health crises. I hc her as being RunningRed kit so both her parents dying to a cat she looked up to, her best friend leaving her, the whole great battle trauma, and then losing Graystripe to two legs. Like girls been through a lot. I always think of she as a very emotional character to but where she shoves it down until she just explodes and blames herself for everything. Of their cuddling situation I disagree slightly. Sand to me is not a cat who likes to be touched very much unless she touches another first, and i could see her naturally running hotter then her partners so she curls on the outside, often rolling away when she gets a little too hot. Fire is a big fluffy guy so he loves to both cuddle and be cuddled. Raven either curls around him or on particularly hard days they have Fire hold them. They def love to be cuddled especially by Fire bc he’s so freaking fluffy and soft so I think most often Fire holds him, and Sand curls around Fire. When the kits were little Raven and Fire would make a wall around the two munchkins and Sand would sleep right near the entrance to both protect her kits but also since she’s not a particular fan of lots of touching.

So long sorry I just have so many ideas about all three characters especially when paired together. Raven and Scourge as siblings is my favorite tho I had to include it (always disliked Fire and Scourge being related it made so impact and was unimportant to me)

i try, but not very often. honestly sometimes i forget, sometimes i'm busy, sometimes it's just too much. basically all my fics have moderated comments because i have had Issues with commentors in the past, but. i collect the comments in my inbox and love them very mcuh.

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

oof, tough question. i'm gonna go with "anything at all," which uh. ends with a mother finding her teenage daughter dead by drug overdose. i don't think it's my best work, i wrote it when i was like 15, but it's probably the worst ending.

7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

oh shit i have to go thru all my fics again? damn. this is easier and harder than the previous one. i like to write happy endings! i prefer it! but i limited myself to only fics with happy endings, not, like. fluff pieces that are all happy. and with that, i'm gonna go with "i see the moonlight steal across your sheets." yes, it is the daddy kink tigerdove one, but it has a very happy ending with very little bittersweet.

8. do you get hate on fic?

rarely. in my inbox is more common. i moderate comments for a reason tho LOL.

i think people on ao3 are much less likely to have problems with me because things are always tagged and warned for. you can't really go into a fic from me and not know what you're getting into.

yes, but i haven't finished anything to publish. which is funny. because i write a lot of smut. [i do have one explicit fic, but. it's not smut.]

10. do you write crossovers?

my first ever fic (written and posted when i was ten) was a crossover. other than that...i write fusions, sometimes. i have a warriors & night circus crossover which is a proper crossover but doesn't really engage with the world as a crossover, if that makes sense. they're not really my thing tho.

11. have you ever had a fic stolen?

not that i remember? i think i've had to address people over copied paragraphs, but i don't think i remember the details of that. it could've been me noticing someone else's work being copied.

yes! and it was very kind of the person who did so.

ohf, i'll admit it here ig. i have a shrewsquirrel piece, "waiting for me in some unholy sunlight," that i really adore. but uh the ending. it ends in a bittersweet way, and uh. well. the ending i had planned ended up more-or-less happening irl. so. i can't. i just can't.

16. what are your writing strengths?

tenacity. lol. uh, i think i'm good at description when i let myself get into it. and i think i'm good at like. the structural elements of writing.

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

actually fucking finishing things. and. i've gotten a lot better at it, but i still struggle to keep a balance between narration and dialogue. sometimes it feels like there are pages between two sentences in a conversation.

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

goddamn this is something i've done. i think i've mentioned most of the fics involving this here also. okay. so. i'm going to answer with what i do, because there's not, like, one right solution to this. what i prefer to do is keep everything in english, and use dialogue tags to specify what language is being spoken. however, if it's a single word, or a specific phrase, i might keep it in the original language, for flavor/"it's a concept that doesn't translate well."

i have written a fic with sentences in spanish, and i took a long time to make hover translations work, except it doesn't have accents because to this day i can't figure out how to make it work. sobbing and crying etc.

i don't think i would do that with a language i didn't know. in that case, the character being latina was important to how i wanted to angle the story, so it made sense. i'm not sure if i'd do that in a different situation?

basically i play things very by ear. if i was writing a physical book with pages, i would use footnotes fairly heavily, but it's not the same on ao3. you have to lose your place to check a footnote. like, even if it's linked back to the spot (which, y'know, i would do, now that i know how to make footnotes), it jars you a bit.

i suppose i will christen this blog with my top 30 wc characters and talk about The Them. i did the favorite picker a few months back and yeah

of note i did not include anyone from avos on here bc i hadn’t read those books yet (i’m still only partway through tbc lol)

anyway swiftpaw is at the top bc i wrote a swiftpaw lives au and it has spiralled out of control into a 150k+ affair and counting, which i’ll have to make another post about. at any rate i adore him, i think he’s awesome, and i believe in swift/bright/cloud supremacy

ivypool is self explanatory. i think she’s Neat.

longtail and whitewing are both natural extensions of swiftpaw (swift/bright/cloud means he’s whitewing’s other dad in my head). plus i think longtail is super interesting as one of the only reformed villains, and whitewing is also really cool and a good friend/mom.

tallstar is my gay dad. nuff said

i hc mousewhisker as gay and trans for fun (sorry minnowmouse shippers) and he’s the mc of a top secret fanfic i’ve had on the backburner for years (and will continue to stay there bc it’s now entwined with swiftpaw fic and i have to write up to it) so basically i also love him. just a silly little guy

jayfeather, sorreltail, cinderpelt, and crowfeather are pretty standard faves i think. and possibly gray wing? idk he’s Also my dad. dotc was the first arc i read way back when so despite its flaws it’s very special to me. i like that gray wing was just sort of dragged into the plot but genuinely tried his best to do right by everyone even when no one else wanted to.

have you seen moonkitti’s talking video about poppyfrost? it converted me i’m a poppyfrost stan now.

brightheart, dovewing, squirrelflight, leafpool, and hollyleaf are all pretty standard faves as well. i personally headcanon nightcloud as aroace (or a lesbian depending on if i wanna ship squirrelnight. or both oriented aroaces are valid) who got just as much out of a marriage of convenience type deal with crowfeather as he did. i like that story better than her getting reduced to “crazy jealous wife” just because she messes up leafcrow. idc if it’s not canon, justice for nightcloud, she’s a good mom in a weird situation.

i feel like the last two rows are also pretty normal low-tier faves? extra-special shoutout to palebird tho, her arc is one of my favorite things about tallstar’s revenge and i am so glad she got to be happy eventually. her early appearances made me wanna cry with how cruel the other nursery queens were to her.

6. oooooooooh god. that’s hard because like 90% of warriors fans are annoying but in my personal experience i have to say squirrelcrow fans or leafcrow fans mostly because crowfeather fuuuuuuuuuucking sucks just inherently and assuming that he would be any better in a relationship with squirrelflight or that he would have treated leafpool better than was exhibited in canon when he is shown to be a terrible husband and father and downright abusive to the women in his life is downright laughable but they’re SOOOO defensive of him and insistent that he’d be better because of course it’s nightcloud’s fault that he abused her and their son.

10. again this is hard because there’s a lot of terrible fanon but uhhhh first one that comes to mind is (in my opinion ofc) when people try to give characters that were retconned into being siblings in canon some kind of actual relationship. imo it’s just feeding into a really dumb part of canon that you don’t HAVE to accept if you don’t want to, like with warriors especially a lot of fanon is canon-deviant anyways and everybody’s always making fix-its so why put all this energy and time into building out something that was a bad decision and detrimental to the story in the first place. it’s based off of something stupid so no matter how much time/effort is put into it i never like it. maybe not the actual worst part of fanon but it’s something that drives me crazy because i know for some reason i’m in the minority in my opinion on this and everyone wants to know who everyone is related to. i don’t get it. whatever.

OH and i hate fanon hollyleaf. she sucks ass she’s not a badass she’s kind of girlfail in the most pathetic way possible why is that not enough to appreciate. why must you girlbossify her

15. ummmmmm this is more of my opinion on everything in general but i cannot STAND when every character is drawn skinny. and in warriors because there’s a huge misogyny problem that of course warps into mollies being slender and pretty and “feminine” while only the male characters can be fat or bulky or more interesting looking. that is unfortunately a very prevalent trend in the warriors fandom because of a number of factors. lol

i also think tigerdove is fun just in terms of what it represents for dovewings arc as her like. finally taking control of her life and shifting away from being part of a prophecy. i dont have many comments on their relationship outside of that meta but i like how hes a wifeguy iirc

🥀Sunrise - Most overlooked/underrated ship/character/part/etc 

toughhh...... not so much recently but i think brokenstar is an underrated villain (specifically in tpb and even yellowfang’s secret, despite that one horrendous kit-killing retcon). brokenstar has a really genuinely unsettling vibe to him, kind of like how you feel about an unknown or unseen monster in a horror movie... lol. usually i’m not a BIG fan of “born evil” but in his case i think it makes him a much creepier villain. also baby killing and child soldiers are just so egregiously awful like wow. he really did that. what a bastard!

☀️The Sun Trail - that one book you can’t re-read and the one you always re-read

i’ve complained about it numerous times here but i absolutely cannot reread mothflight’s vision... such a drag. actually i can’t reread MOST of the newer super editions. squirrelflight’s hope is one of the better ones (maybe only because i love squirrelflight) but even then bramblestar’s bullshit ruins it for me. 😭 i really struggle with the SEs man. as for books i always reread - basically every single book from the first arc. i also find myself returning to like.. dawn (book 3 of tnp) a lot? which is weird? basically i only reread the books i first read as a young kid because they hold more sentimental value

How I feel about this character: I love her!

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Cloudtail, that’s about it tbh lol

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Swiftpaw, Cinderpelt

My unpopular opinion about this character: I’m not convinced Swiftpaw and her were into each other before the dog attack; while it’s obvious she was really upset about Swiftpaw dying and they were close, Cloudtail is the only cat mentioned as padding after her so I think they were just friends.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: An apprentice! Like seriously, it’s ridiculous that after Jayfeather she never got another apprentice. I have a lil AU where Alderheart becomes her apprentice, because she deserves and I think she’d be good with him. I also really wish she got to actually interact with Cinderpelt, given the fact they’re siblings and both go through life changing injuries.

Bramblestar

How I feel about this character: Smelly and a massive waste of potential.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: No-one, I can’t believe Squirrelflight still puts up with his bs.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Death, self-reflection, brain cells

My unpopular opinion about this character: This is the opposite of spicy, but while I think -claw as a suffix was a bad choice, I also don’t think -flower fits him, personality-wise; I’d personally go with something like Bramblethorn instead, or maybe Brambleheart (though tbh I’d have mixed feelings about him being named that because I feel while Firestar cared for him he was also too obsessed with him being like his dad, and possibly contributed to the complex Bramble had about being his father, which ain’t healthy)

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I sincerely wish his whole arc in New Prophechy was different, because it was there his character started falling apart. Imo he shouldn’t have trained with his father as willingly as he did in canon, and the relationship drama he has with Squirrelflight was ridiculous. As for the later arcs, I think it’d make sense if he knew the Three weren’t his kits (solacefruit on ao3 has some great drabbles for an AU where he knows and has a healthy relationship with Squirrelflight), have stuff like his nastiness towards Squirrelflight in her SE not be a thing, and have him interact with his kids more. As he is in canon, he’s thoroughly unlikable to the point I’d be happy if he died due to being possessed.

Oh god, I haven't read books since Omen of the Stars. (I love fanclans/fanfics way more then the books anymore. lol) How have they messed up each clan since the first two arcs?! I know ThunderClan has too many cats and ShadowClan went leaderless or had leadership problems for some reason?? Also SkyClan is there now. Maybe. Again, haven't read the books in forever. (Is the current arc any good? Or better then Omen of the Stars at least?)

The current arc is good, I can promise you that Warriors has never been as slow or as boring as it got mid Po3 - early OotS. I have a lot of issues with AVoS but I would say that all of the modern arcs have been worth reading.

BEFORE WE START: Check out this Helpful Info on my process as I redux the family tree, it contains my Three Strict Rules, the Onestar's Exception, the definition of an Orphan Warrior, etc. Very, very important.

Each Clan has a unique family tree problem;

ThunderClan

The Frostfour (Brackenfur, Thornclaw, Brightheart, Cinderpelt) had THREE cats who were extremely prolific. The entire new generation traces back to them, completely and utterly eradicating genetic diversity.

The fresh bloodlines, from Daisy and Ferncloud, were nerfed so hard with pointless killings that there's no ability to fix modern ThunderClan. The ONLY cats who could save it (Finleap x Twigbranch, Stormcloud) have also been prevented from having kits by the narrative, which is incredibly frustrating.

And it doesn't stop there, because the writers for some reason were obsessed with tracking Firestar's lineage through Bramblesquirrel instead of Lionblaze. They wrenched out Squirrelflight's infertility issues so they could shove two kits into her, while also having Lionblaze produce 3 kittens who have kittens of their own.

It's an exponential problem which made Nightheart's ENTIRE ARC in ASC less serious, because half of the Clan is descended from Firestar while he somehow has 'especially high' expectations.

And the bloat. They keep killing off mildly interesting background characters while not building on the ones they have, so now the Clan is just full of nobodies who have done nothing.

ThunderClan is really bad, in canon.

The entire family tree from the earlier arcs is dead. Rowanclaw's one of the few carry-overs. Snowbird specifically is the progenitor of half of the entire Clan, to the point where Sunbeam actually can't be shipped with a cat she isn't directly related to (unless you put her with Blazefire, her mentor, or her mentor's brother.)

SnowbirdClan is so profoundly fucked that I can't save it. I can reasonably fix the others, but ShadowClan is so irrevocably destroyed that I can't save it.

In spite of being full of "Orphan Warriors" (cats without a single parent and usually without children) they still managed to inbreed Heathertail and Breezepelt.

Onestar canonically thinking about how cool inbreeding is in his Super Edition made me so uncomfortable that I made the Onestar's Exception rule on the spot-- an exception that makes Rule 1 (no first cousin pairings) even stricter by banning First-Cousin-Once-Removed as well when there are cats alive who are old enough to remember the great-grandparent.

But that aside, most of WindClan is Orphan Warriors.... MALE orphan warriors. They ran out of women, and then Shellfur stole the ONE clean girl out of WindClan for himself.

Which I must admit is VERY funny. But anyway, fixing this tree means blasting the Woman Beam at most of them.

THREE first cousin pairings :/ And they only had like 3 generations, come on, it should NOT have been this hard to not bungle this.

Most of the problem is Clovertail and her prolific litters... but also, SkyClan is almost as bad as ThunderClan in terms of bloat. Which is weird because it's not even bloated with all the interesting ex-kittypets from the SEs and SkyClan side content, it's just nobodies because SkyClan queens keep pumping out 3 and 4 kit litters for NO reason.

It was an easy fix though. So I guess I can't complain.

Really it's a problem for opening up TOO MANY possibilities, like which cats are Reedwhisker's children. Everyone litter works as Reedwhisker's kids. Reedwhisker is everyone's father. Reedwhisker is YOUR father.
