Just finished Rot in Paradise. I was expecting a game about you and your friends being stranded on the beach and turning into water addicted zombies, not an allegory for toxic relationships where you can't help those who clearly don't want your help and how the good moments you had doesn't take away their mistreatment of you and how despite how much you love your friends you need to mourn and move on before they (literally) drown you with them.

lucanis truly has a near terminal case of burned out golden child syndrome. caterina fucked both of these kids over so incredibly bad with the dynamic she enforced there, with illario being labled the perpetual fuckup kid where lucanis 'could do no (would never be allowed to do) wrong'. the way he admits in the first coffee date scene that the only thing that happened when he showed he could carry the weight of expectation was that more weight was added makes me so sad. you can hear it in caterina's voice in his intro mission that she's incredibly proud of him, but this is clearly a leandra and hawke situation where that pride never translates into relief or resolution or unconditional warmth or understanding or anything that really helps.

I wasn't going to draw anything initially (srry girl, I was retweeting the art other people made for you tho lol) but something in me wanted to celebrate it properly and I don't draw Neru a lot, so I decided to go for it! Time lapse and traditional under the cut.

I completed the traditional drawing on her birthday at least, hehe. But in the digital, I made a lot of corrections.... Lmao.

1 hour for traditional + ~6 hours yesterday + ~3 hours = 10 hours? I was lowkey kinda gunning it within a day or two which I know isn't a healthy approach to art lol but time was running out and I decided to draw something so time-consuming and I didn't want to pass the date by too much.

Anyway, I like Neru a lot. Younger me really adored her and even if I'm mostly raving about Miku and Teto nowadays, I will NEVER replace Neru lol. Her being around is important to me so I definitely don't want my like for Neru to be underestimated. I'll draw more of her for sure! 💖
